The gas fireplace works!

It only took me 3.5 years to turn it on.
Amazing. No wood required. I love it.

A Yule Log!
What took so long?
I was afraid of blowing up the house. I know it sounds stupid. So I consulted a customer service dude I met at a T-Day dinner from People’s Natural Gas (don’t laugh, that’s the actual name of the gas company). I followed his instructions carefully, checked the flue, yadayadayada. Then I had a friend turn it on an ignite it. I thought it wouldn’t work but the exact opposite happened. It burst into flame so suddenly that it took us both by surprise. I had to check his eyebrows to make sure he still had some.
The sucker gives off a fair amount of heat. I had it on for only a few minutes last night and it got too hot in my living room. So, clearly, I have some experimentation to do. I will change some parameters like hot chocolate or wine, music or a good book. Or both. I’ll let you know what works.
I assume you don’t have a gas stove (for cooking). Lot of people fear gas here but I grew up with a cooking gas container in the kitchen and have had gas here in all my houses (except early apartments). However, my fireplace is not gas (in my previous or current home) and I have never bothered to use it — too much work. The joke is that the fireplace is the cleanest in my hose.
Oh, I have a gas stove. It’s the only choice for serious cooks.
It is the season, not for this mfer. I really had hopes this fucker may be different.
