Got up on the wrong side of the sofa this morning. That’s right, I fall asleep in place. I’m a grown up, I can do whatever I want.
Didn’t fix my lunch.
Couldn’t find the jeans I wanted to wear.
Found only *one* of the boots. Had to settle for a pair of shoes I haven’t worn since I lost weight. My foot is sliding all over the place.
Grabbed the wrong jacket on the way out the door.
Thought it would be cool outside because that’s what the weather app said.
It was not.
If only there was a place where we could look up reliable weather info in real time…
Sigh.
Time for some finger snapping. Everybody sing:

Today, Donald gives his base yet another opportunity to be heartlessly cruel by proposing to end DACA.
Those kids had zero control over whether they were going to be brought to the US and many of them have never left this country- ever. They don’t know their country of origin.
What EXACTLY is the point of shipping them back? Check the latest Weeds podcast to understand how policy changes beginning in the Reagan years started the whole ball rolling to where we are today.
Just out of curiosity, after Trump has given his base the right to stomp on gay and transgender people, prevent women from gaining pay equity, birth control and abortions, make black people’s lives miserable and shipped all the illegal aliens back to Wherever they came from regardless of how long they e been here as children, who will they turn on next? Because there always has to be a next with this kind of populism. The base will still be mostly poor without prospects of climbing above their current status without a true welfare state. To keep them happy exploiting their sense of victimization, they’re always going to need fresh enemies. Who will be next after all the other groups have been exhausted? What if the executive orders and new laws aren’t enough? Will they be permitted to take matters into their own hands?
Isn’t this kind of animated hatred of every disadvantaged out group exhausting? Wouldn’t it be easier to be kinder to all those people and go after the people at the top? I mean, in terms of effectiveness in changing the social dynamic, THAT would make more sense. So why don’t they do it? Cowardice?
Just curious.

Hurricane Irma has intensified into a category 5 hurricane. It looks like it’s headed straight for Miami. Not so great. Miami is already on the verge of becoming America’s Venice.
But you know, who can say if Climate Change is real. {{rolling eyes}}

I was listening to our classical music all day yesterday. I just felt like bailing out on this country and going back home and enjoying all the things I have deprived myself of living here. Life looks better over there.
Take me with you.
But who is going to do my hair and other aesthetic stuff 😉
You moved here to get your hair done and pedicures and bikini waxes?
BTW, are bikini waxes painful? I’ve heard that they are and that the hot wax your butt crack too.
Am I getting too specific? I mean, I’m just curious.
Obviously I didn’t move here for those. I was being flippant about certain advantages of living here and I don’t do that other stuff including mani/pedicures you speak of. I don’t even wear makeup/lipstick except for a little eye liner. I do get a nice expensive haircut and color. My MiL who lives in India and 82 years old, while visiting last year asked me if I could help her get rid of her lip/chin hair. A few years ago when she visited here with her husband, we took them to Cape Cod and on the ferry back from Martha’s Vineyard, I overheard some rich fuckers making fun of her as a candidate for extreme makeover (she didn’t hear it because she was sitting way over there and we were standing next to these schmucks in a crowded ferry). I wanted to tell them that she is one happy grandmother and to leave her alone.
Seriously? They mocked an 81-year-old (you said last year) woman for not looking like a 21-year-old supermodel?
A little birdie has a question for those two @$$holes:
IBW, this was a few years ago but she was still past 70. She was sitting a few feet away from us and we were standing next to the group that was saying things. They didn’t seem to realize we were with her or they didn’t care.
Today it is DAPA/DACA, tomorrow it is Indian origin Americans. Remember Uganda? Maybe hyperbole but if I had a kid, I would be worried sick right now for her/him.
Not hyperbole. I could see that happening.
It can even happen to white folks. Recall the persecution of German-Americans when the USA entered the First World War.
I was thinking about that. For a conscientious white person going through the stuff that is starting to happen here can be traumatic. Maybe some people can block it off and live their day to day life but for many others it will be as painful as the targeted group and the helplessness it brings can be unbearable.
