    • The Fall of the USSR
The best book on both successes and failures of the Soviet Union is Mancur Olson’s “Power and Prosperity.”  If you haven’t read it, you should.  The second best is Randall Collins essay in Macrosociology. The great problem with most critiques of the  USSR is that they do not explain its successes.  In the 20s and […]

  6. Meeks: ‘No Question’ Russians Involved in Election Hacking
Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY) renews his call for an independent commission after a leaked NSA document reveals a Russian cyberattack just days before the election.

NSA is leaking this time by a woman, but glad that this info is coming out.

  7. Hey, you. Fireworks, xxxxxxxx

  8. Hope this works out for you

  9. I hope the new job is everything you have hoped for!

  10. Off topic: Store employees who are re-pricing discounted books need to be careful where they put the price stickers.

I found this on Mock Paper Scissors.

    • Too funny. Any comment that I write on a site like Vulture that references the prolific, nineteenth century author is immediately deleted because it contains–that–word.

      • It goes for discounted movies, too. 😈

I wonder if disgruntled, or at least mischievous, employees aren’t doing these things intentionally. 😛

      • So you can’t reference the superb science fiction writer of “The Man in the High Castle”?. Or the actor who played Nick Charles in so many movies? Or the great American novel in which Captain Ahab rails against the cosmos? Or the well-known children’s reading primer which includes the likes of Jane, Spot and Puff? Or Helen Gahagan Douglas’ name for Richard Nixon? Or any stories about private gumshoes?

        • Not on certain sites In my experience. Very funny.

          • You were nice enough not to mention my little error, it was William Powell who played in the “Thin Man” movies, so we can mention him. It is the guy who played Philip Marlowe in a film, and who played Sam Spade on the radio show, whose name we can’t mention!

  11. A new job RD?
    Brava!…
    Best wishes…

    • That’s what they tell me. Got to do background checks and pee test.

  12. Congratulations. It is hard to lo have to look for a job, so I am glad that you got one so quickly. I hope it turns out to be a rewarding one.

  13. congrats. man o man, life just isn’t cutting you any slack at all.
