    • Those Who Fall with Steve Bannon
One interesting note about the Cambridge Analytica story was on Bannon’s role: A few months later, in autumn 2013, Wylie met Steve Bannon. At the time, he was editor-in-chief of Breitbart, which he had brought to Britain to support his friend Nigel Farage in his mission to take Britain out of the European Union. What […]

Good morning. Yes, I’ve been following the news. Putting together a post in my head about who is responsible for the pending healthcare catastrophe.

In the meantime, it’s not being soft to feel real concern for expectant parents, contract workers, kids with asthma, breast cancer patients and people with mental health issues.

Compassion must defeat complacency.

    • This monster without conscience is dumb as a rock, dangerous combination. Plus he thinks he is good looking.

  1. This tweet and the picture are striking. If we are looking for the root cause of how we got here, the disunity in the Democratic party is at least one reason and something that can be prevented next time. Lies and distractions perpetrated against Hillary by Bernie Sanders and his people was too much. But I suppose it will stop because the next candidate won’t be Clinton or female or if female, will be media approved.

  2. Discussing this video with my hubs, he said America’s downfall can be described in one word, GREED. I would add a second word, FEAR (there is a video circulating, see Yashar’s TL) that shows a white woman harassing a Muslim woman in a Trader Joe’s check out line, in Reston, VA, a rich suburb of DC — fear of non-whites.

  3. First Austria, then the Dutch and now the French… but here is what is going on in urban America, not even in the hinterlands, but in a fairly cosmopolitan, urban area outside DC, Reston, VA.

  4. The usual suspects, of course. A dumbed-down electorate of which too many do not take responsibility for understanding policy and governance. A media which seems to deliberatelly want to keep them ignorant, and shed no light on anything which matters to people. A Democratic Left which is virtually the ally of the Far Right, in that it would rather see worthwhile Democrats lose, for reasons of stupidity and spitefulness. And of course the Right itself, which as Catherine Rampell accuratel said in a WAPO piece the other day, bears absolutely no resemblance to any mythical notion of “Moderate Republicans.”

Those are the general people to blame. In this case, it was obvious to most of us that if any Republican were elected President with this right-wing Congress, they would try to destroy every element of the social progress of the last 100 years, and return America to the glory days of social darwinism, the Gilded Age, with its tenement slums and 70-hour workweeks. The media preferred to hide this, never asking questions about policy, and accepting Trump’s utter lies as legitimate policy proposals. They were so invested in trying to cut Hillary down, that they sold out the entire country. And Sanders, with his litany of self-evident complaints, and completely unachievable policy proposals, made being a solid liberal Democrat soudn like a bad thing. Once Trrump “won,” it was obvious that the Congress would take away healthcare. In the days when the media were working stiffs who identified with the average working person, they would have pointed it out. Now, they are blow-dried, smug people, who, like their corporate masters, and the politicans they elect, do not have to worry about any of this, at least for now. At least when Marie Antoiniette said, “Let them eat cake,” she was only betokening her naive, privileged ignorance. These people are saying, “Let them eat dirt,” and feeling great about the fact that they don’t have to.
