    • The Joy of Reading & The Discovery Of New Author (Nero Wolfe Edition)
I’ve been a big reader since I was perhaps 7 years old. In grade one I actually had remedial English: I’d been taught both whole word and phonics and it had screwed me up. Once I learned to actually read, I fell in love with it, trudging to the library, taking out the maximum and luxuriating in other worlds and other lives. I always find the strivers, attemp […]

Lady V has been working diligently on a new site with new content every day. I’ll let her describe it and urge you to visit it regularly:

The last 8 weeks, I’ve been constructing a website for briefly learning about and taking concrete, effective action against what seem to be the most urgent issues: the erosion of fundamental rights, including First Amendment Rights, Environment (climate change, endangered species…), Human Rights (immigrants’, Muslim Ban, women’s, healthcare, voting…including racism/sexism sections), Public Education, and Foreign Policy/Preventing War. The site includes also includes a ‘Political Action Primer: What/How,’ for action against the erosion of democracy in all its forms. The site is updated daily.

Please check it out and spread the word! UpHoldTheseRights

Today, with the US Marshals refusing to uphold the stay (and deferring to the US Atty General’s office), it appears the Executive Branch has successfully launched a coup over the legislative and judicial branches of our government.

  1. It’s Gorsuch.

  2. Good job Lady V!

The Women’s March group is also trying to put out actions over the next 100 days… https://www.womensmarch.com/

So I have the 4 postcards I need, now I have to find someone that sells the 34 cent stamps that is open when I get off of work…not an easy task so far.

    Stronger together.

  3. The non-deplorable Trump Chumps don’t hate women and minorities; they just threw women and minorities under the bus because the NDTCs hope to benefit somehow from the policies of the Cheetolini Administration.

The difference between the deplorables and the NDTCs is the difference between hatred and depraved indifference–or (Areinnye take Godwin’s Law), the difference between Nazis and “Good Germans”.

Another metaphor: Satan had to buy the souls of the NDTCs, whereas the deplorables gave him their souls freely, because they love Satan and his works, even while they claim to love God. 👿

    • I must have missed the memo, what is NDTC?

      • Non-Deplorable Trump Chumps (though their depraved indifference to the future victims of bigots makes the NDTCs deplorable in a different way).

  4. I hereby declare today Rolling Stones day on The Confluence. Dance at your desk per Greg’s suggestion.
    Tumbling Dice on right now.

    • Jeez, didn’t realize how much RS I have on my phone. How did that happen?
And I don’t usually play it at work because I end up singing the falsetto parts of Beast of Burden.

  5. This is a much appreciated effort. If the government is now going to ignore court orders, we have true fascism. And that cannot be stopped unless there is actual civil war, or a miltary takeover of the government. I am not advocating for either, but if the executive branch and its police arm will not accept the judicial brach’s rulings as law, then this is a police state, and there is no legal way to remove it, outside of possibly impeachment, which will never happen, since 98% of Republicans share the fascist sentiments, or put up with them to get the tax cuts and the destruction of the environment which they crave. So we are entering a period of true horror, where everyone’s rights are taken away, and there is no entity with enough power to stop it. Put Gorsuch on the Supreme Court, and they will have a majority to take away voting rights from so many people, that they will never lose another fake election. Just like Russia. My suggestion is that people do whatever they legally or feasibly can to not contribute to the national economy or the interstate corporations. Maybe losing money might possibly matter to the corporatists, although maybe not, if they get those glorious tax cuts.

    • Thank you, William! I encourage everyone to visit the site upholdtheserights.com and please pass it around. Click on the topic that concerns you the most. Take an action. Bookmark. Repeat!

There are a LOT of ideas there, and a LOT of people fighting. I agree, it looks very grim, but it always does in every film I’ve ever seen in my life. We’re in the part where you just can’t see how the hero will ever escape a terrible fate.

      And then something unexpected happens.

Today, Trump put Iran “on notice,” and Russians advanced further into Ukraine. If we go to war, no one will pay attention to Russian interference in elections, tax returns, Trump’s corrupt cabinet, or conflicts of interest unless WE FORCE that to happen.
