The kitchen is painted. I’m going to hurt the person who used oil based glossy paint on the walls. The first coat of Zinsser primer peeled off. That’s right. The primer peeled off. (Yes, I checked on the oil/water-based compatability first. It didn’t matter.) We had to scrape the walls down and start over. Grrrrr. But it’s done now and I’ll post some pics soon. It’s an amazing transformation. There was a little gem of a kitchen underneath all that gloomy paint and broken cabinetry.

I can’t wait to see the photos.
I’m feel like I’m bleeding from the discussions Joseph Cannon opened up. I wish I could get over it enough to write about it.
Which discussions?
On the Fully Raw Cannibals post and over at Corrente and Cannonfire.
katie, I would love love LOVE to hear from you. Feel free to write to me privately or post a comment to my blog (and I don’t care whether your comment is relevant to the post).
I’ve been saying for years that someone should write a book which records for future generations what happened in 2008. I seem to recall suggesting to RD that SHE should do it. (She was in the thick of things, and she’s a better writer than am — not something I often say.) I also privately begged Lorenda Starfelt to take on the task, but she is no longer with us.
Well, I’ll do it. But I won’t do as good a job as some others might have done.
Unless YOU want the job, Katie. If you want to get such a book out (and really, this is the last year for it, in terms of commercial viability), tell me now and I’ll stand aside.
I really appreciate your words but, I’m not the person to do it Joseph. My raging speechlessness won’t allow it. I like to think that if I am ever in the same room as Howard Dean, I would have the words to ask him about that May 31st meeting and how he dared take delegates away from Hillary Clinton to give to Obama who wasn’t even on the Michigan ballot.
I have so many questions.
Did Howard Dean really believe that the people of Florida and Michigan should not be represented at the Convention? Throughout 2008, I asked everywhere I could. Mostly I was met with silence but where there was an answer, “The Rules” summed it up.
And that hasn’t changed to this day.
In my past life, I was a die-hard Democrat. I’ve been a Delegate and an observer to two Democratic Conventions. I’ve worked for every Presidential candidate including JFK since 1960. But, I’ve never seen a primary season run the way 2008 went down.
That it was brushed off as Politics as Usual, and Hard Ball, is disgusting. By the end millions of people were disenfranchised and because of the complete lack of reporting on the issue, they don’t even realize it.
So, I’m delighted that you’re writing the story. It has to be done. I’ll buy it and read it and give it away for Christmas Presents.
And thank you very much for kind words and thoughts.
I sold paint for at least 8 years. I don’t recall ever recommending Zinsser primer though some people swear by it. For any tough application I always recommended Kilz Original and of course it is what I have used to cover smoke or water damage, oil based paint, bad stains, etc. Stinks to high heaven but it works, at least in my experience. Sorry you had that happen to you.
I saw the cabinets in an earlier post. Those were participial board crab before they went up 30 years ago. I had the same ones with the same 30 years of gross kitchen grease so they were now like hardened molasses. They oozed I took a hammer to some the day we got the key. My that felt good
I 2nd Kilz Original
Congrats to you. I love how you are strong, Riverdaughter. It’s this quality you have. ps: I bet the kitchen will be perfect. Just perfect.
