    • New bill would allow Medicare buy-in
This would be a giant leap forward. Just another reason to donate to Democratic senators for November: Two more Democratic senators are introducing a bill that would create a version of Medicare for some working-age Americans, offering yet another sign that government-run insurance will figure prominently into the Democratic Party’s health care agenda going […]

    • Gulf Stream Likely To Reverse Sooner Than Expected
Yeah, so this is bad news. “I think we’re close to a tipping point,” climatologist Michael Mann told ThinkProgress in an email. The AMOC slow down “is without precedent” in more than a millennium he said, adding, “It’s happening about a century ahead of schedule relative to what the models predict.” The impacts of such […]

Superlatives

I got home late last night, really late, and didn’t see the new roof until this morning.  I’ve been away for the past few days while the roofing elves did their magic.  It looks beautiful.  It’s a dark charcoal color featuring dimensional shingles.  I decided to go with one color shingle so the effect is subtle.  Now, I just need to fix some masonry, do some stopgap reno on the screen porch and paint some exterior trim to make the township happy.

Today, I’m going to be carting wheelbarrows full of a top soil/mushroom manure/sand to the back yard.  Where are those elves when you need them?

In the meantime, check out this pas de deux from Le Corsaire featuring Daniil Simkin and Maria Kotchetkova.  She’s a dainty ballerina with killer fouettes that don’t travel.

And HE just defies description.  I could watch Simkin dance for hours.  Grace, speed, precision, the man’s got it all.  Truly stunning.
