Week-end Wrap – Political Economy – November 27, 2022 by Tony Wikrent Strategic Political Economy   8 billion and counting [ABC, via The Big Picture 11-22-2022] This week, the world’s population ticks over a historic milestone. But in the next century, society will be reshaped dramatically — and soon we’ll hit a decline we’ll never reverse   The incredible s […]

Remember the Ladies?

So, now that the left is having another litte orgasm over suspension of deportation of DREAMers, let’s reflect a bit on what all of this means.

First it was the LGBT community that threatened to withhold money and that choked some (ultimately meaningless) words from Barack Obama about same sex marriage.  Don’t get me wrong, he should have said this back in 2008 when he was a candidate because it was the right thing to do, instead of winking to his more evangelical constituents that he opposed it.  But it doesn’t really matter because the outcome is zero sum.  There’s a brief blip of feeling really good about the guy until you realize that he has no intention of doing anything about it.  It will be up to the states to discriminate or not and he’s cool with that.

Then came the hispanic community demanding compassion for the families he’s breaking up and bright students whose lives he is ruining with the disastrous and aggressive deportations.  Those students in many cases had no choice in the matter when they came to live here as children.  For all intents and purposes, they’re American except that they weren’t born here.  If I were king, I’d have found a way to naturalize them by now.  That would be the Christian thing to do.  All Obama has done is kinda sorta said they won’t be deported but there are no guarantees.

We are hearing more and more stories that one of the reasons he has been so ineffective at getting legislation through is that he doesn’t like the political process where you have to go around and ask people to do things for you or you have to hold things over their head and threaten them.  Obama just doesn’t like face to face interactions.  It’s not his thing.  Maybe he should have stuck to writing autobiographies and dispensed with the detestable politicking.  It’s never too late to reconsider…

So, who’s left? Ahhh, yes, we haven’t heard from the women yet.

WHY haven’t we heard from the women??  Have they not sought an audience with the Lightbringer?  If they have, did they get one? Why haven’t we read about that? With the latest outrage in Michigan, where female legislators are forbidden from even saying the word VAGINA, one can only imagine that Obama must be determined to stride the halls of the White House to meet with representatives of women’s groups to assure them that This. Will. Not. Stand!  And yet… {{crickets}}

You know, women are not really a special interest group.  We’re more than half of the population.  We’re getting attacked in a way that will affect our ability to work effectively and that will impact our economic situation.  And what affects the economic situation of more than half of the country should be something that is pretty high in Obama’s priority list.  But the strange silence of women and the even stranger silence of Obama on women, is downright spooky.

I’ve noticed that the National Organization for Women is having their annual convention in Baltimore on June 29- July 1.  They will be discussing the War on Women, which suggests to me that they have already bought into the Democratic framework and have decided to hide behind Barack Obama’s skinny legs for protection against those meany Republicans.

This is pathetic.  I don’t think I’ve ever been so disgusted in my life.

Unlike the LGBT and hispanic community, women outrank ALL of the supplicant groups.  They shouldn’t be grumbling that Obama gave them a half an hour of his time and acted like a pissy little prince.  They should make HIM come to THEM.  The frostiness should be coming from their side until he gets down on his knees and kisses their asses.

Reclusive Leftist wrote a post four years ago called Archimedes Lever about the power of women to shape elections.  They can demand just about anything they want and get it but they almost never do.  Like Dorothy, they have no idea that their ruby slippers are capable of transporting them home.  They have always had this power.

This is not as hard as you think, ladies.  All you have to do is demand representation and justice for your sex- now.  Not in a couple of months, not next year, and not with some ineffectual mouthing of words with indefinite content that have no power behind them.

Sure, there will be a bunch of Democrats and pundits who will ask whether it is wise to ask for so much in this bad economy.  Guess what, YOU are the economy and if you don’t get what you want, you should pick up your ball and go home.  There is no point in playing with people who do not see you as their equals and who do not think they have to work for your vote.  Sure it will be tough to fight every single battle all over again.  It looks like we’re going to have to do that anyway, apparently without any help from Democrats.  It’s been done before and the elderly conservative obstacles who fanatically vote for Republicans over abortion won’t be around much longer.  The Republican’s electoral chances are waning and they know it.  That’s why they stepped it up this year.  But we’ve always known the evil in the Republican party.  It’s in the Democratic party where the evil needs to be ferreted out and exposed to sunlight.

Don’t underestimate your power.  Rahm Emannuel, Steny Hoyer and all of the other bastards in the Democratic party can’t match it.  They can be all macho and tell you no and you can tell them to go fuck themselves in November. It will make them weak in the knees. If they’re not going to do anything for you, the Republicans have won anyway and as I’ve said, the Republicans are on their way out.  You can figure out how to use your votes more constructively.

Use your lever and see what happens.  The Democrats are in a tight spot. Let me spell it out for you: The Democrats entire electoral strategy, and that which they are pinning their hopes this year, depends on women staying on their side. In fact, you might almost say that all of the new laws enacted against women this year play right into their hands.  At this point, they have no reason to try to curtail any of them.  All they have to do is nothing and they will look good in comparison.  But if you ever decide that’s not good enough for you, they’re going to start shitting their pants.  You can get anything and anyone you want this year.  Now is the time to ask for everything.

Let this be the summer that they will Remember the Ladies.

MAY 7, 1776

“I cannot say that I think you are very generous to the ladies; for, whilst you are proclaiming peace and good-will to men, emancipating all nations, you insist upon retaining an absolute power over wives.

“But you must remember that arbitrary power is like most other things which are very hard, very liable to be broken; and, notwithstanding all your wise laws and maxims, we have it in our power, not only to free ourselves, but to subdue our masters, and without violence, throw both your natural and legal authority at our feet.”

  1. Very inspiring, I love your clarion call posts, RD.
Just a little reminder to my fellow Conflucians: do vote for the downticket Democrats who are true to the party ideals that we grew up with; for instance, Sherrod Brown is my Senator and a damned good one who’s running for his life against that little pisher, Josh Mandel.
The loss of Brown-who is target number two for the the RNC-would be a real blow to Ohio and the rest of the country.

  2. Has anybody looked into who benefits more from illegal alien labor, republican or Democrat business owners?

Here in the Alabama Triangle of PA a local agribusiness had to let go a considerable portion of their work force including managers because of discrepancies in their papers. It’s a safe bet the owners are gopers. Same with the growers in the Red States and California.

The AM Hate Radio talkers are spewing their outrage about Obama but what are their listeners that own business thinking?

For Liberal women it’s a matter of organizing, the established groups blew their credibility when they donned their Obama knee pads. That Joe Cannon “Sorry Sweeties” cartoon says it all. Those that still belong to NOW should go to Baltimore and demand a resolution condemning Obama’s lack of action on women’s issues. Be prepared to burn your membership cards (you have them?) in front of the media if they fail to do this.

The Obama political machines will be in high gear exhorting Democrats to support President Do-nothing. Union members will be bombarded with get out and vote Democrat mailings. They need to be put on notice that your support isn’t a given this year. Demonstrations at the NOW convention will drive this point home in a way Team Obama and his toady media can’t ignore.

    • Election years are political wifebeating season, so ‘sweeties’ who balk at their unappetizing electoral choices can expect to be thrashed with the Roe stick. Except that the Roe stick isn’t working quite as well as it used to, so now it’s the contraception bat.

    • I almost betcha a lot of high living San Francisco “liberals” benefit from exploitable illegal aliens . . . . nice meals in stylish restaurants at prices far below true cost, yard and lawn maintainance for nearly free,
nanny services for low wages and no social security payments, etc. etc. etc.

But the young beneficiaries of this executive decision are probably several rungs higher up the pay and skills ladder. And now that they have been quasi-legalized, they are probably not so exploitable and abusable, etc.

Colonel Lang at his Sic Semper Tyrannis blog has several times recommended that the category of Economic Resident be created for
Americans, Canadians, and Mexicans who want to work in eachother’s countries without having to become citizens, and without the burden of being exploitably illegal.

  3. Spot on, RD!!

  4. If you complain and exert pressure, you might have a better chance of getting what you want. If you just sit there and take it, asking the followers of your group to clap louder, you don’t. It’s Politics 101, and I agree that applying this principle on behalf of the majority of the population isn’t just reasonable but way overdue. I also applaud you for pointing out the bigger principle of political pressure that seems to escape so many of our Blogger Boyz (Lemieux, Klein, Yglesias, etc.) whose main mission seems to be to rationalize Obama’s failures instead of hold him accountable for them and demand change.

  5. Dust off your French or read in translation Declaration of the Rights of Woman and Citizen by Olympe de Gouges. French revolutionary progressive menfolk were no friendlier to women than their Obot descendants; they tried de Gouges and guillotined her for her trouble.

I am beyond disgusted with the women’s organizations. The sweeties are falling into line: Planned Parenthood endorsed Obama whereas the only meaningful position would\\’ve been a pointed refusal to endorse anyone and blistering statement explaining why. (Stupak anyone?)

On a lighter note, I also read today that pumas are reconquering the territory of America. I wish! 😀

    • Rumors of mountain lions in Michigan can no longer be denied. DNR has pretended for years that we have no mountain lions here so as to spare themselves the expense of designing and implementing a management plan. A good friend and neighbor tells me that at Sleeping Bear Dunes and maybe other parks on the Lake Michigan shore, the DNR has now posted trailhead signs basically saying: “If you meet a mountain lion, which you won’t because they don’t live here…. here’s what to do. Not that you need to know because they don’t live here, but if you meet one here’s what to do, which you won’t meet one because they don’t live here.”

  6. This is also true of liberals in general: Dems can’t win without them, but instead of using that power, too many of them spend all their energies making excuses for them. If Obama had been constantly threatened from the left the last four years instead of being able to take “progressives” for granted, he might not have been quite the appalling prez he has been. And if the Right had behaved the way too many liberals do, Goldwater 64 would have been the end of them.

    • I think you’re right. But women cut across all parties and political ideologies. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Democrats are hoping to pick up women from cohorts other than there own.

  7. If the election is tight enough in some states, it would only take “just enough” women refusing to vote for Obama to achieve Obama’s defeat. In fact, there are probably so many women that some could form a “make demands” action group and others could form a “terminal vengeance” action group. (I suppose that would attract those who no longer believe anything Obama says and no longer trust an Obama Unbound: Term Two under any circumstances.)

    • In fact, how many women would it take to say (and mean) that the only DemPrez nominee they would vote for in 2012 is HRClinton to torture the Party into revealing its true nature by making the binary choice between making HRClinton the DemPrez nominee in 2012 . . . or choosing defeat in 2012 in order to keep HRClinton off the 2012 ballot? (A kinder and gentler version of that would be a stated refusal to vote for a Demticket with Obama anywhere on it. Replace him with “somebody better”. Right there could be two different mutually respecting action groups. One saying HRC or nobody, the other saying Nobama Nohow.)

” We want the whole god damned loaf! Or no bread for anyone!”

If that seems like a good slogan, I hereby give it away for free. If it seems worthless, it will sink into well deserved obscurity.

  8. IN the 2OO8 primary, ILLINOIS NOW declined tp endorse Obama, saying that as an Illinois State Senator, when women needed Obama, he wasn’t there. (Some of his many “present” votes were on women’s issues, and in Illinois, a “present” vote has the same effect as a no votNOW.e.) I recall Obama’s campaign’s response was that this was part of an effort coordinated with Planned Parenthood to protect Senators from conservative districts who were at risk of no winning re-election. But 1) Obama’s Hyde Park district was very liberal, and 2) Planned Parenthood denied any such strategies. National NOW and Ms. Magazine ignored Illinois NOW’s evaluation of Obama’s actual voting record, and focused on his promises. I gave up my NOW membership, and never again bought a copy of Ms. after that ridiculous picture of Obama, with the caption, “This is what a feminist looks like.” Apparently, national NOW doesn’t want data-based endorsements.

    • Nevertheless, it is NOW that will get all of the attention unless it is usurped by something else, maybe The New Agenda. I think we need to keep a close eye on the upcoming meeting and hope we see some dissension in the ranks. If they haven’t endorsed yet, they’d be stupid to do it until they got something real and tangible.

    • Perhaps the Illinois NOW ( and any other state NOW chapters which didn’t or won’t endorse Obama) could secceded from the NOW and call themselves the Illinois State NOW and etc.; something like legitimate State Democratic Parties could seccede from the Democratic Party and call themselves the (whatever) State Democrat Party. If enough of them did so, they could then form a Union of State Democrat Parties. Perhaps it could happen in the same states where State NOWs could seccede from National NOW. Perhaps those State NOWs could force the State Democrat Parties to be more womanfriendly or at least womanfair.

  9. Women refusing to volunteer (work for free) for candidates and refusing to contribute to campaigns are already having an impact. It’s the equivalent of not going to games when you have season tickets. The “team” gets the message and the concessions don’t move

  10. Happy Fathers Day to all the Confluecian fathers and in memory of my own Dad, Hubert B. 1913-1987:

  11. There are many women of all ages who are republicans for many different reasons having nothing to do with abortion or religious conservative views. They come in all ages. Are we going to pretend they do not exist or matter? Or are we going to embrace them as also belonging to the category of women and work with/welcome them to our society of people who think women are humans?
