    • Reasons For Hope (1): The Solutions Are Known
Ok, this place has mostly been about how fucked we are, and how we’ve fucked up. Blame is more on our leaders than us, but as a species we’re on the hook. But there is cause of hope because mostly we know what we have to do. We know we have to reduce CO2 and Methane emissions. We even know mostly how. We pretend we don’t, because the how will involve changin […]

Ooo, look what I found

This is one of HRC’s appearances on the morning talk shows during the financial crisis of 2008. This entry is dated September 23, 2008. It was almost a month after the nomination so nobody was listening to her anyway. You might have missed this if you had been waiting to hear what the lightbringer would say.

Here’s another video from the Today Show from the very same day:

And another from Morning Joe. Well, no wonder no one was paying attention to her. All she wanted to do was bailout homeowners and hold the banks accountable. That’s all she said all fricking day long, over and over and over again. Booooooring.

And here’s one from CNN’s American Morning. Homeowner mortgages, nag, nag, nag. Conflict of interest provisions for the Treasury Department officials who will oversee the bailout money? Please. (Anyway, it was just a lucky guess on her part.)

Must be really frustrating to know what has to be done and have some schmoozer and his financial backers standing in the way of the controls. Kinda like one of those heartbreaking scenes in a blockbuster movie when the good character gets killed off and the not-so-good character has to undergo a crisis of conscience deciding whether to carry on the legacy- and then doesn’t. It’s a dark, dystopian film with lots of rain or scary looking men in long black cloaks.

Well, we don’t all get the government we deserve but we sure do get the one we voted for.

  1. Send links to these videos to all your kosshole former friends. Include them in the email to your former party’s Senators and Representatives explaining that the money spigot has been turned off until Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are gone.

  2. But Obama surrounded himself by the smartest MEN ever and they got everything right!! So sayeth his flock.

    • And it’s not his faaaaaulllllt. He had no idea it was going to be this bad. It’s only his first term, blah-blah-blah!

Bullshit. He knew EXACTLY how bad it was going to be because he was recruited by the very people who made it so bad. And then he appointed them to take care of the money. That was the bargain he struck with them in order for them to buy the nomination for him. At this point, you have to be seriously stupid or deluded to think his nomination had anything to do with political acumen, charisma, or other personal qualities.

She knew the shitstorm was coming. She knew it two years in advance, which would be just about right according to the books I’ve read on the subject. There was no mystery about what was about to happen. And she had policies that she was willing to put into place after her inauguration. She was prepared.

He wasn’t. He wasn’t because his backers had it all worked out before they nominated him. The last thing they wanted was Hillary running the show and putting them in rehab.

These clips are part of the proof. She was pretty desperate to go on all those morning shows and plead her case, not as a candidate anymore, but using the last shreds of her authority as a popular but defeated politician. She used every last bit of her political capital and it made no difference to the big boys who funded Obama or the frenzied mobs of Obots who were willing to sacrifice every principal they had to get him elected.

      • For over two hundred years brave Americans of all gender, race and creed have fought for our right to vote. They must be spinning in their graves considering who we get to waste that precious right on. Obama and the cadre of loons on the republican side.

        • Well . . . and hopeful third party wannabes. And also interesting and sometimes useful initiatives and referrenda as well as state and local level persons.

  3. Racists!

There, it’s said. Now you party hacks can fuck off to your own blogs and yak about how brilliantly your eleventy dimensional chess player has played whomever he’s distracting you with this week.

Off topic, can someone please explain what’s happening on the Eastern seaboard? Yesterday, Maryland passed a gay marriage bill, Two days earlier, a neighboring state nearly passed a bill that was plainly intended to sadistically humiliate women seeking abortions. Huh? Are we headed for Civil War II or something? Seriously, can someone take a stab at explaining this?

  4. I’d like to see a clip of her discussing that December 2007 proposal. For me, it was the first time I focused on Hillary as a serious (to me) person. The Kossacks went berserk pointing out how it proved how stupid she was. And that only people so stupid as to hang out at Taylor Marsh’s blog would fall for it. The cacophony was defining. Almost even more intense than when I first wrote diaries supporting universal health care for everyone. …. Which should have given me a clue about who I was dealing with.

  5. I’m surprised nobody here has noticed this article on Politico, regarding a new book about the 2008 campaign:

  6. This is the sort of thing which makes me wish I already owned my own computer with speakers and etc. Then I could listen to these interviews. As it is, I make due with using the company computers before work or on breaks. ( I “have been warned” about hanging around after work to read internet on the computers. I try not to hang around after work reading them. I try not to, really I do.)

  7. What we could have had.

Instead we’re watching the Rs out-crazy each other. And we worry how much more Teh One is going to give up to them in his whatever-dimensional chess in his 2nd term.

  8. Joe Cannon has a video at the top of his latest post. It does quite the hatchet job on Mittens. Wonder if there is any Obama money behind it?
