PS: OWS is looking for housing accommodations for occupiers. If you have space and want to help, contact ows.housing@gmail.com.
Also, OWS would like to help St. Paul’s and St. Andrew’s church pay their heating bills. This church has been hosting dozens of occupiers a night since OWS was evicted from Zuccotti Park and the heating bill is about $300/night. See this page for more details.

Is January 17, 2012 the day of the State of the Union address? Hey, Kbird, you wanna go to the mall?? {{snicker}}
Hmmm. I was thinking about going in February. I’m not sure I can swing it so soon after Christmas.
We’ll take a look at the money situation.
It’s definitely a good idea. Occupy the SotU
I’m waiting to hear about a DC event – I will be there!
Cool! Maybe we should get a big tent and if we can convince Katiebird and her sister(s) to go we’d all keep toasty warm.
(nodding) That sounds really fun!
Bring your thermal undies.
I’ve never done winter camping….
Neither have I. But I think dressing in layers is involved. I have a sleeping bag, mebbe two. Also a big hiking backpack. Might be able to rustle a four person tent. One of us has to drive the stuff there. My car is big enough to handle most of this. Can bring cooler too for edibles. Maybe we should look into getting some MREs. They have a heating component.
This could be really fun!
Marsha, are you in?
If you’re serious about this, these are really good tips. I’ve camped at -10 degrees, and it’s not something to fool around with if you don’t know what you’re doing. http://www.boyscouttrail.com/library/wintercampingtips.asp
I’ve NEVER camped – but there is always a first time. I have to fly to DC but will do whatever I can however I can.
Question: Is there any place (other than the video, above) that talks about January 17th in DC? As I said, I’m willing to go and do in support of any event Occupation of DC, but I don’t want us to show up with 10 others when the really big event is scheduled for two weeks later.
Found it! On FB….. Occupy Congress January 17th, 2012.
And a brand new event page about the event – found here at FB: Occupy Congress
Yep, let’s nail down the realness before we start booking flights. I’ve been checking various camping sites for portable heaters and stuff.
