    • We Are Going To Go Thru Hell, So What Now?
      I was born in 1968, the year Wallerstein calls one of “world revolution”. It was a revolution that both failed and succeeded: women and minorities got more rights, often a lot more, but the end result was an oligarchy, where most people were equal in their lack of power, and where every year saw ordinary people becoming poorer, no matter what the official st […]

  1. Maybe one piece of NBC news may be worth watching.

    Chelsea Clinton to Report for NBC

    NBC is to announce on Monday morning that it has hired Chelsea Clinton to become a full-time special correspondent for NBC News.

    The appointment is immediate. Ms. Clinton will show up at the news division offices on Monday morning, said Steve Capus, president of NBC News, and will begin work on stories that NBC expects to use as part of its “Making a Difference” series, which runs on “NBC Nightly News.”
    “What we talked about was if she were to come on board that’s the kind of thing she would be interested in doing. We knew she wasn’t going to do the lead story. But having somebody who was going to do really captivating feature assignments for the ‘Making a Difference’ franchise really kind of synced up,” Mr. Capus said.

    Those feature reports, which have become popular on NBC’s evening newscast — and which may be added to NBC’s new prime-time newsmagazine program, “Rock Center With Brian Williams” — spotlight people who are making volunteer commitments to improve the lives of others in their community.

    • That *is* interesting. Does she get to give David Shuster a swirly and kick Chris Matthews in the nuts? Because that’s what I would do. It’s too late to take Keith Olbermann into a room and, you know {{hint, hint, nudge, nudge}}

      She’s probably too well behaved for that. And unlike the other famous kids, she will probably excel in it. Yeah! That’s the ticket! Get her in front of a camera every night and remind the country every night of what they could have had.

      • I think she will do just as her parents do, she will dazzle them with her competence and they will look pathetic for having been jerks. Hillary did that with republicans in the senate. Bill did it when he gave that state of the union address unbeaten and unbroken after the impeachment fiasco. I have no doubt that Chelsea is just as tough. It is like that commercial…her core competency is competency.

    • uh oh, she may challenge my several year loyalty to Diane Sawyer. I will have to see how Chelsea performs.

  2. Progress with general public attitudes …

    Gallup: Deficit, what deficit

    An overwhelming 66 percent of the country thinks unemployment or the economy is the most important problem facing the country right now. That compares to the mere 6 percent that thinks our top problem is the deficit. That is an amazing 11 to one ratio.

  3. AP Report: Under Rick Perry, Texas’ Dependence on Federal Government Has Increased

    Glad to see the legacy media is picking up on what I’ve been saying for years — that the Secessionist decries “socialism” out of one side of his mouth while the other side is sucking on the federal teat.
    Looks like we need to get a Democrat back in the governor’s mansion to break out of this culture of dependency.
