It’s Hump Day…a Quickie and then off to work! Morning OPEN THREAD

Healthcare, jobs bills, Bunnings, Perry v Hutchinson, Rahmbo, blah blah blah. I don’t know about you but it feels like Groundhog Day every day. Same thing, they’re doing this…they’re doing nothing…bipartisan…partisan…yakkity yakkity yak. Spare me the pain T-Pyxidis! Is there any good news out there?

Feel free to chime in with your favorite news stories of the day. Me,…I’m contemplating the following interesting tidbits:

No way! Chocolate covered peeps! Way! Yay. More junk to rot our teeth, expand our rears, and shorten our lives.

Even this poor chimp is seeking solace in the bottle. Things really ARE bad.  At least he didn’t give them the Amy Winehouse answer.

If T-Pyxidis continues to let me down, I can always hope for boredom to finish the job, because apparently scientists have discovered you really can be bored to death.

I guess they’re bored over at Hasbro. They’ve decided to revamp Monopoly. A round board? Are these people kidding me? Brainstorm FAIL.

Well, maybe something worth talking about is out there.  I just can’t find it.  So, in the meantime, post the stories you’ve found interesting this morning and I’m off to work!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  1. Pajamas tv zombie has a new party to compete with the tea party and the coffee party. It is the Hot Coco party. It sounds interesting.

    • Thanks, Helen. Here’s the link: http://pajamasmedia.com/zombie/2010/03/02/join-the-cocoa-party/

Enjoyed this from the “About Us” section:

We are 100% weedroots. No astroturf Obama-campaigning former New York Times employees in the Cocoa Movement, no sirree! No grassroots racist fascist redneck Neanderthal Teabaggers either! And no hyper-partisan strategists calling the shots in this movement. We are a spontaneous and collective expression of our desire to forge a culture of ludicrous propaganda that is entirely blame-oriented.

Also enjoyed her reference in the intro as to how she *used* to like Kool-aid.

      • Thanks for the info! There’s some extremely important news over there, in the comments:

        “Insufficiently Sensitive:

“Bravo Zombie! It took just one glance at todays NYT article in the Seattle Times to see that the fawning over the “coffee party” must conceal an Obama-surrogate. And sho’nuf, Annabel Park is an old Obama cheerleader from way back. Funny the Times forgot to mention that…

“Now: just how much of the ’stimulus’ slush fund is being applied to stimulate this oh-so-centrist ‘rally the troops for Obama’ organization?”

That’s huge, as I see people falling for “The Coffee Party,” just like they’ve swallowed everything else given to them.

I’ll stick to my Swiss Miss Dark Chocolate Decadence and marshmallows, and, oh, please pass me one of those chocolate-covered Peeps :-9!

        • There is the smell of desperation in all of the efforts to shore up this administration.

      • Thanks for sharing. Seems Obots are again using that hip imagery (coffee, Starbucks) to counter the old stupid hags again (we know that only old hags and those weird Brits drink TEA)!

        The coffee party is pathetic!

Here’s a little quote from Ms. Park:
“I found that people have little understanding of the change that Senator Barack Obama is advocating. I thought from my experience in using videos for civil movements that videos would be the best way to promote the need for change and for Obama. That’s why I decided to work for the Obama campaign,” Annabel Park said.

    • I declared a principles-before-marshamllows hot chocolate party on here over the weekend. Copycats 😉

  2. Washington Post has an article about the C st resident of several congressman getting tax exemptions as religious site.

  3. The BBC reviewed the Austrian film “The White Ribbon” on The Strand this morning. It may win an Oscar. Because it show the decline of an imperialist nation, the film critic recommended that every American watch it.

Move to near the end of the broadcast – 21:25

  4. Muslim women who refused to take ‘naked’ full-body scan are barred from Manchester to Pakistan flight

    • Very sad, actually. I can only imagine how awful such a thing would be to people with such minimal attitudes about their bodies. It isn’t just their religious beliefs; it’s their life’s cultural restrictions. I think those scanners would challenge a number of religions and cultures….not to mention children & the fine line to child pornography it bumps up against….Come to think of it — where are the moral majority on this, and why are they being so quiet?

  5. From the Austin Statesman:

Republican Gov. Rick Perry overcame his fiercest primary challenge ever Tuesday by defeating U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and moving on to a November showdown with Democrat Bill White, who easily won his party’s nomination.

No surprises there. Right now I’m leaning toward sitting out the November elections altogether unless my vote for Bill White would make a difference. I’m skeptical at this point.

    • what they need to do it get rid of those dam texas CONVENTIONS im going as a del anyway if it where not for them im sure hillary would be POTUS right now

  6. Chocolate cover peeps? This is almost as bad – the Houston Livestock show and rodeo is offering White castle sliders dipped in batter and then deep fried. The horror of it is unimaginable. We won’t have to worry about health care reform – people are eating themselves to death.

  7. batter fried sliders? I’ll have to send my brother on over to try some of those & let me know how they are.

  8. What has happened to Cannonfire? I recently discovered it (possibly through a link here) and now he says he is shutting down the blog.

  9. Former UK Labour Party leader Michael Foot died today. Oh that we had more like him now.

“We are not here in this world to find elegant solutions, pregnant with initiative, or to serve the ways and modes of profitable progress. No, we are here to provide for all those who are weaker and hungrier, more battered and crippled than ourselves,” Foot said during the 1983 campaign.

“That is our only certain good and great purpose on Earth, and if you ask me about those insoluble economic problems that may arise if the top is deprived of their initiative, I would answer ‘To hell with them.’ The top is greedy and mean and will always find a way to take care of themselves. They always do.”

  10. I’ve been under the weather, still am, but I raised my weary head long enough to see that Joseph Cannon and Cannonfire are quitting the blogging process here. Does anyone know why?

  11. OK – so, if you’re bored, head over to TL and read the 2 open threads from today. Capt Howdy (a known disserter from both TL and the D party in 2008) tries to defend TL against “PUMA”….it’s hysterical on so many levels.

    • well that was entertaining. Geez.

    • what a train wreck … Captain Howdy through the looking glass and settled nicely in wONEdoh! land

      • LOL – wONEdoh! land 😉

It’s hard to envision the level of drama/stupid one must achieve to argue so ineffectively.

I think he’s showing off for someone he has a crush on over there….Dudley Dooright style.
