    • Scenarios For America’s Political Future
Let’s run thru the most likely possible victories in the upcoming federal election and consider what they mean for America’s future. Put them in 4 baskets. Trump wins. He does more bad stuff, situation continues to get worse, American post-WWII style multilateral hegemony and trade order takes huge hits. Biden or Harris win. Harris will […]

    • I don’t think I can afford a ticket.

    • Well, that made me want to hurl.

    • This little bit in that (revolting) article stuck out to me. One of the guests being wined and dined:

Mark Zandi, an economic adviser to Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign who has been providing advice to the Obama White House.

I have long suspected that some of Hillary’s campaign people were Axelrove plants, and now I am wondering if the Chicago Machine arranged a bit of the same for McCain. Wonder who was advising him to make such idiotic statements on the economy?

      • Ugh. Now we know why the economy is in the crapper. If anyone needs proof that Obama is no different from a Republican in office this is it.

The wining and dining is the only way for Obama and Pelosi to ensure success in 2010 and 2012. They are in trouble and the only thing they can do is what they resorted to last year: lying, cheating, and big donors to negate the rest of us bitter knitters still hanging on and demanding real change.

      • that would be Carly

    • “the speaker and her husband, investor Paul Pelosi, own a nearby vineyard worth between $5 million and $25 million”

so, which is it? 5 , 10, 15, 20 or 25 million???? I’m sure its just pocket change.

    • Not to mention, of course, that Nancy supported the new $500 million expenditure for 8 luxury jets for Congressional use.

      Tone deaf.

  1. Violet Socks is probably the only blogger on the nets reporting the PA gym shooting as a hate crime. I immediately recognized this shooting to be a hate crime but the story has not been reported as such by the media.
    http://www.reclusiveleftist.com/2009/08/06/hate-crime-disappears-into-the-memory-hole/

    • Yea, it wasn’t hard to miss as the shooter went on and on about hating women and wanting to kill all women. I heard news reader after news reader say that and not blink an eye. Just another crime, ho hum. Nope, crimes against women apparently are not hate crimes by definition. Dana Mulletbank tells me so.

  2. I’m sure happy it’s Friday down here.

On another note, next month I take my first trip back home to America since PBO stole the throne. I am eagerly awaiting seeing the joy on all my fellow Americans faces.

  3. Ruh-roh:

St. Louis County police on Thursday arrested at least four people, including a Post-Dispatch reporter, outside a town hall forum held by Rep. Russ Carnahan, said Dawn Majors, a Post-Dispatch photojournalist who witnessed everything unfold.

St. Louis County police say six people were arrested. Two of those were arrested on suspicion of assault, one of resisting arrest and three on suspicion of committing peace disturbances. Carnahan was gone when the ruckus started.

Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack started.

“It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked,” he said.

According to one source, the some of the people arrested are pro-Obamacare union members.

    • Well, Obama did talk about getting in their faces. When you’re dear leader tells you to get in their faces, you step, I mean, get in their faces. Were their shirts brown one wonders.

    • There is video up on youtube somewhere. It seems that they locked out the protesters 20 minutes before the scheduled start of the townhall, but were opening the door to let union members in. Some of one of the scuffles is on youtube. The door opened, someone tried to go in, another tried to stop him.

This also happened in St. Louis, and is on video. They locked the doors on around 1000 protestors, but were opening the side handicapped entrance to let the union guys in, until the crowd figured it out. People were getting really pissed as they had been standing there waiting but didn’t get the special side-door treatment.

These congressmen are playing a very dangerous game. The worst thing you can do to an upset citizenry is to shut them out and refuse to talk to them. The anger is only going to get worse out there.

      • I’m going to do a round-up of stories from both sides of the blogosphere about the St. Looie and Tampa events.

        Pictures, videos, news stories, etc.

I’ll post it in the am after the morning news post.

        • Good. From what little I saw, tempers were flaring a bit on both sides. HUGE crowds, though. If they are bussed in astroturfers like Obama claims, they had to have a fleet. Can you hide 50 Greyhounds?

          • well no one knows bussed in astroturfers like Obama and Axelrove. Isn’t it funny how Alinsky followers always accuse the other side of what they are doing themselves?

        • myiq, evidently one of those arrested was a St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter.

The guy who was most badly attacked ended up n the ER:

Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack started.

          • Yes. Half the chairs in the room were empty, but had signs saying “Reserved” attached to them.

Reserved for “invited” guests from SEIU , AFL-CIO, and ACORN members who had received astroturf from their leaders to show up and “protect and defend” the Congresscritter.

ACORN was also outside , yelling at the people who had been excluded. (translation: try to stir up trouble so we can have media pictures of the “crazies.”)

            Obama’s and Axelrod’s peeps.

  4. Ah, rorschach tests, my favorite. OK, let me look at that picture again. Got it. When I look at that picture, I see a head of cabbage. Is that good?

  5. There’s also an ABCnews item regarding the WH taking names of people who don’t agree with Obamacare. The WH claims they’re not:

  6. Since this IS an open thread:

A site devoted to imitations of Dr Pepper:

It also has links to other sites, including this rather facetious taste test:

  7. Yeah, no matter how much i dislike Obama, i really hate that picture.
