Burn Notice Returns Tonight

The coolest show on television is back.  It’s followed by:

What are you watching?

(This is an open thread)

  1. I’m liking those Deadly Warrior shows on the Spike channel. Tonight: Vikings vs. Samurai.

  2. Whoo, I was startled there, we changed the cable provider and I thought I forgot to schedule Burn Notice for DVR recording. I dropped everything and ran to check.

You’re right – it is the coolest show on TV.

  3. Yes!

I also like New Tricks, an English cop show on PBS station KTEH every friday night.

    • I wish I that I could listen to the radio show. I have always been able to participate, but not tonight. Is anyone else having ‘issues’??

  4. I am waiting for The Closer. Starts Monday and not a moment too soon.

  5. Yeah, we’ll be watching and I want to see Royal Pains too.

  6. I’m gonna watch The Venture Brothers and after that I’ll head upstairs to do some reading.

  7. yes. Mike’s mother reminds me of my mother-in-law who was a very cool lady.

I also am waiting for the return of Leverage. That is also a favorite.

  8. I can’t watch either “Burn Notice” or “Royal Pains” because I quit subscribing to cable last year on the day after KO made his slanderous Special Comment re Hillary’s RFK reference. I also promised myself that I wouldn’t get cable again until I knew that not a penny was going to pay the salary of that insufferable wanker. So I suppose I should thank the man for saving me hundreds of dollars and also getting me to read more.

Perhaps I’ll put “Burn Notice” on my Netflix list–I’ll try not to gripe if I don’t like it.

    • USA network doesn’t have any news – it’s Nobama 24/7/365

      • I know that — but is it even possible to pay for cable without having a certain tiny amount of one’s cable fees going to pay for that blowhard’s salary? Since MSNBC is not a premium channel, I think that everyone who pays for cable pays his salary. And I refuse to let even a penny of mine be used in that matter.

It’s weird–I don’t think that I’m generally much of a grudge-keeper, but every time I think about that particular broadcast I become positively livid. I guess I’m like Joe Cannon that way — I want a f**king apology already.

  9. Yes, I am waiting for ‘Burn Notice’……….and with helenk, ‘Leverage” also. Two very good shows.

  10. I’ve been on Petfinder looking for a small dog, instead of watching anything. Finally had to quit looking, the number of dogs, especially Labs was heartbreaking. Terriers of all types too, I didn’t know they were so popular at some point.

These dogs, and of course tons of cats, seem even more disposable in this economy. If only I could scam money off the dumba$$ trolls I could feed them all.

The adpotion fees are so high to cover no kill shelters it’s hard for those of us without much money to get one. But I remember the 3 days and down shelters of the past and they still make me shiver.

    • Are you looking for a fryer or a small roast?

      • myiq, you’re sick sometimes, that’s why I like you. And I think you understand that I can’t construct a sentance or spell worth a d@mn anymore, but at least I have a place to hang out.

    • My oldest daughter is a vet’s assistant and was laid off due to people not having the money to take pets to the vet.

  11. I’m tempted to live blog this

  12. Oh, and I’m mostly minding the spam filter and these nice huge shrimp I picked up from the market today 🙂

    • I LOVE shrimp season!

We grabbed 40 pounds last week. And we’re almost out.

      Yummy!

      • I just had a bunch of huge head-ons tonight!!! Nothing beats this time of year as far as I’m concerned!

        • This time of year is so great for seafood – but I could do without the monstrous heat and the hurricane evacuations. Otherwise, great time of year!

De-veining and peeling fresh shrimp is so time-consuming, but the end result is entirely worth it.

  13. What am I doing? Compulsively refreshing my inbox on my email. (I’m nervous about the show)

  14. Anything would be better than watching the rapist play basketball. I admit it I am very bitter.

  15. Watch Hillary on Greta(while chatting at Conflucians Say)!

  16. I haven’t watched TV since 1998. I was watching an episode of the Drew Carey Show and Drew was sitting at a table in the bar with the gang when something happened and he slapped the table and said “G@D Dammit!” I didn’t really think any thing of it at the time. My son was just a toddler at the time and was playing in an adjacent room. About two minutes after Drew said his thing my son toddled over to the lamp table by my wife’s chair. He was just beginning to talk. He looked up at my wife, slapped the table and said, “Ga mit”, I reached down turned off the TV and we have rarely turned it on since. I can count on one hand and half of the other hand the number of programs I have watched since this incident. I can honestly say I really don’t feel like I’ve missed much. I never have doubted the power visual media has after this incident.

Caveat: As my kids get older, if and when they begin to ask to watch TV I will let them. I’m not a luddite or a prude or at least I hope I,m not. I just felt that my children weren’t ready yet and I believe in leading by example.

  17. http://www.thestate.com/166/story/811078.html

“WASHINGTON — A growing number of U.S. intelligence, defense and diplomatic officials have concluded that there’s little hope of preventing nuclear-armed Pakistan from disintegrating into fiefdoms controlled by Islamist warlords and terrorists, posing a greater threat to the U.S. than Afghanistan’s terrorist haven did before 9/11.”

I found a scary article in the comments section at noquarter. I pretty much skim the headlines of a number of news sources every day, but hadn’t run across this one before. I was aware there were problems in Pakistan, but this particular article seems to paint a very bleak picture.

    • Sam
I saw that comment earlier today. Then I just caught a comment on fox about al quada sending seven people to Pakistan to talk to the Taliban there. I did not hear the whole story.

Does anyone really believe backtrack has a plan to stop this?

  18. Best line from Royal Pains:

    “Don’t objectify me, sidekick!”

Hell, best line of the week.

    • I looked at my husband and son and laughed. She spurred a discussion. I don’t understand why any woman would want to portray themselves as dumb because smart, capable women are hot.

  19. Desperately longing for the return of True Blood.
