    • Week-end Wrap – Political Economy – September 27, 2020
by Tony Wikrent Slouching toward denouement Capitulation Will Not Halt Trump’s Coup David Sirota, September 24, 2020 An important review of political events last week. Yoy may not agree with Sirota’s interpretation, but his analyses has proven correct repeatedly. Remember that Sirota accurately outlined the future course of American politics in his 2008 book […]

Sorry I haven’t been around much this week. Yesterday was my nineteenth birthday, but other than that, my wifi was down, so I couldn’t get all week online anyway.

I posting right now because I thought it would only be decent of me to let you know that I am going on something of a posting hiatus for a couple of months. I will occasionally be posting on my own blog, but other than that I am probably going to be gone for a little bit, because I have to sell my laptop and a lot of other things to make ends meet for my mother and I… stupid recession. And stupid responsibility! I’ll still hang out, of course, just not as much as normal. Leaving for too long would be cruel and unusual, I know.

In any case, yesterday was Beltane and I promised RD we would have a Conflucean Beltane Party. This is an open thread.

  1. Are we gonna have to beat some sense into you?:

  2. Oh wow! Let me be ther first!!!

  3. I’m sorry to hear about your laptop. 😦 …and everything else.

    BTW –you’ve got mail.

  4. {{{Little Isis}}}

Isn’t there any way you could hang onto your laptop? How will you do your schoolwork? I’m so sorry things are tough for you and your mom.

    • I will do whatever I can, BB. I don’t want to sell this thing. It is a Dell and it annoys the crap out of me, but it is still a fairly nice laptop that I worked very hard for.
Sometimes I really HATE my life.

      • Little Isis I am so sorry you are going through a tough time.

I don’t know if you have something like this but my husband was able to pick up a cheap computer at our college surplus sale. We picked up up a Dell desktop for $30.

It would still leave you with the problem of paying for internet service but it would give you a computer should you have to sell yours.

        Happy belated 19th birthday

  5. Sorry to hear about this Isis. I know all too well what you are going through. i suspect most of us here do as well. I too had to sell my Mac laptop to make ends meet.
I hope all works out well for you little one.

  6. Happy Birthday!

  7. LI, a belated Happy Birthday!! I thought of you yesterday on May 1.

Yeah, responsibility is a rough one. You’ll find a way. Enter some writing contests.

    • Hmmmm… haha. Maybe I could. I won fifty bucks for a coloring contest when I was nine. You thought of me! *hugs you*

  8. Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. *enjoys being fussed over*

  9. A big happy birthday to you, ‘lil i. I’m so sorry to hear that you and your mom are going through tough financial times. As Red Dragon said above, you’ve got lots of company out here, a whole lot more than the lousy MSM and the lousy White House are letting on. It’s easy to feel alone these days, when the reality is there are millions of us counting every penny. Hope you can hang onto your laptop 😦 One thing you can never lose is your talent for writing. That’s more precious than anything Bill Gates could ever come up with (or own). Maybe you could stay in touch by logging on at the library now and then?

    Happy Birthday to you,
    Happy Birthday to you,
    Happy Birthday dear littleisis —
    Happy Birthday to you!!
    (And many more….)

I’m hoping that something can be done to save your laptop and keep you posting at The Confluence.

  11. Happy birthday, LI!

You’re looking simply gorgeous tonight, as always!

It seems crazy to me that you, of all people, would have to sell your laptop. I know that we’ve all faced tough times, and I also know that you will always be a writer, whether you are deprived of a laptop or not. But it just seems wrong for you to have to make that sacrifice.

Maybe someone here could put up a Paypal button to see if we raise some money so that you can keep your laptop. Perhaps I’m being a big Butt-in-sky for making such a suggestion, but I promise to contribute if we figure out a way to do so. And I suspect that I’m not the only semi-lurker who would. After all, it is your birthday and all that.

In any case, I know that you and your mom will triumph over your present adversity. I can only imagine how blessed your mom must feel that you entered her life 19 years ago today.

    • Yes please… if you put up a ‘Lurker Fund for Laptop’ paypal button, this lurker will absolutely donate.

It is much too important to me that we have front pagers at The Confluence.

Even though Little Isis is clearly high on Pixie Dust…. her posts are still a welcome relief (wiccan rituals and all)…. and who among us was not touched be her dear friend’s passing and what it stood for as a greater cause…. at 19 there’s a bright future ahead.

LI – please do not look at this as charity – we’re just keeping you employed at TC. As a user of TC product, I am happy to pay to keep you employed here.

… back to lurking until I see the Paypal button …

  12. Happy Happy Happy Little I 🙂

Don’t you dare be a stranger…we need your spunk around here.

  13. Happy Belated Birthday.
This recession is just hard times for all of us (not part of the Washington beltway or Wall Street, of course). I really hope there are better times ahead for your family and that you will be able to get a laptop of your own again soon.

  14. i’ll be on the look out for the paypal button.

  15. Don’t worry guys! I’ll be all right. I feel so LOVED! Look, maybe I will sell my TV instead of the laptop. Either way, I’ll be all right and I will always be posting here! Always and forever and ever!
    *humps all of you*

  16. happy birthday to you.
What can I do to help?

  17. Happy Beltane, happy birthday, and put up a paypal button so we can donate, please.
