    • Know Your Enemies
An enemy is someone who means you harm and has the means to inflict it. A friend is someone who has wants to do good for you, and has the means to bestow it. I once wrote primarily to predict and to change the world. I now write to help a few people, those who […]

Sunday Night Open Thread

Stephen Fowler is Simon Cowell without the charm.

Katiebird had the POTD:

  1. What a royal a**wipe he is. What is the point of this show, why do people insist on watching it. Were people in Rome watching theatre like this, as it fell..

Anywho, Tzipi one liner has this from today:

“I make decisions, not coffee,” Livni told an audience in Tel Aviv of her role in the assault on G*za, countering critics who have said she lacks high-level experience.

  2. I had to Google that guy to figure out what was going on. Apparently, a lot of people had the decency to be offended by him. He was probably at the bitter, Bible, gun-clingers fundraiser, though.

  3. Someone said “Yes we can” at the Grammys…and they were serious. Still waiting for the tide to turn…..

  4. I loved this from the MoDo article in the previous thread:

Nancy Pelosi told her leadership team that she had told the president, “I don’t mind you driving the bus over me, but I don’t appreciate your backing it up and running over me again and again.”

Get used to it b!tch. You’re getting what you deserve.

And as an aside, is there anyone Maureen Dowd actually likes or has anything complimentary to say about, other than herself?

I honestly don’t understand why she has a column or who reads or pays attention to it.

  5. Oh shit I just came back and saw how I screwed up the blockquote thingie. Ah well, it’s been a long day.

Ah well, it was a glorious day and I went walking and came back pooped. I’ll use that as my excuse.

  6. This quote by Katiebird was POTD:

So many Obots, so little spit”

  7. Thank-ye myiq for fixing that blockquote!

Went walking and these hills around B’ham are a bit steeper than I realized! I got a good workout on the legs but they are sore now.

Think I’m off to sleepy land.

  8. Good Morning! Insomnia has struck.

  9. I’m looking for the right picture to go with your quote

  10. I can’t even imagine what that would be — I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Have you seen the cartoon strip Joseph uncovered?

  11. Look up top

  12. (laughing) That’s really good!

  13. Joe finds some really unique stuff.

  14. He really does. I’m always surprised. Most recently to find out that Barbara Bush isn’t really the daughter of that Alistar guy. I LOVED that story.

  15. Bloomberg News has already filed and is pressing its suit of the US Federal Reserve under the FOIA for details of the $500 billion rescue of Citi and BofA late last year. The Fed’s response has been, um we’re kinda busy right now.

Barry Obama, having found the POTUS job not the kind of fun he had in mind, will return to the more familiar campaign trail with rallies planned for Indiana on Monday, Florida on Tuesday.

Comedy Central news has nothing on the real news these days. This stuff just sells itself.

  16. 3W, I just wish I knew what he is really selling. That bill doesn’t read like stimulus to me. I guess I’m missing something. I’m really curious about who is going to “Rally” for it….

  17. I’m going to make another try for sleep….

  18. Here’s some sleepytime music for you:

  19. Hilarious! I was going to post about this, too. I usually hate reality shows, but I was channel surfing and got sucked into this one — I think because it was such an interesting study of the type of “classism” we witnessed in the election. They couldn’t have picked two more contrasting world views. The guy in Missouri was convinced that his kid was going to college on a paint-ball scholarship. But this pompous A-hole has no redeeming qualities, whatsoever.. Everyone but Mr. IQ here at least seemed to try and get something from the experience. For him it was all about proving his intellectual and cultural superiority over this “podunk” peasant, and making sure his kids got the message, as well. Arther Silbur has a great series of essays on just this sort of thing. http://powerofnarrative.blogspot.com/2009/02/ravages-of-tribalism-iii-learning-to.html

  20. Simon Cowell has charm?

  21. I somehow saw this episode too.
Wow what an a**hole! I hung on till the end, hoping his wife would set him straight, didn’t happen. Another hour of my life I can’t get back….
