Awww….poor widdle Obama-wama.   I wouldn’t want to be in your shoes.  All this president-ing stuff can really bring out teh tiredz.   Especially when you suck at it.

Obama losing the stimulus message war

For instance, Obama hosted at the White House nearly a dozen corporate executives who support his recovery package on the same day the House passed its version of the legislation on a party line vote.

As a consequence, the support for the legislation from a host of cutting edge technology CEOs was buried amid coverage of the lack of a single House Republican vote in favor of it.

Emulating Ronald Reagan isn’t working out when you’re still under on-the-job-training.  But hey, Obama still can copy good ole Dubya; he’s got the built-in ears, massive ego and appropriating tax dollars to fund the Fundigelicals going for him!

Obama planned to sign an executive order later in the day creating the White House Office on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. It would expand and refocus the faith-based office founded by former President George W. Bush.

Dobson, Meeks and McClurkin are just dancing with joy!  Praise Hey-sooz!

Obama said the organization will not favor any one religious group over another, will work with communities and will act “without blurring the line that our founders wisely drew between church and state.”

Just because the Faith-Based offices were given more office space and more $$$ DOES. NOT. IMPLY. that Church and State are converging.  Nope.

The president will also appoint Joshua DuBois, a 26-year-old Pentecostal minister who headed religious outreach for Obama’s Senate office and later his campaign, to lead the partnerships office and name 25 religious and secular leaders to a new advisory board.

Because 2o something year olds who worked on Obama’s campaign are always the voice of experience, judgement and wisdom.

Obama’s advisers want to be certain tax dollars sent to the faith-based social service groups are used for secular purposes, such as feeding the hungry or housing the homeless, and not for religious evangelism. The administration doesn’t want to be perceived as managing the groups yet does want transparency and accountability.

Transparency and accountability?  From the Obama Administration?  Like the same transparency and accountability over here?

But the Obama team also made its own mistakes. The president’s troubled cabinet nominees added to the cacophony that at times drowned out the White House economic messages in the past two weeks.  And it seems more apparent each day that the nascent Obama Administration isn’t fully prepared for the task at hand.

You mean, like, you hafta have, like, experience to do the job of president-ing?

The president’s decision to push through a massive stimulus bill, while perhaps unavoidable, is forcing the much-vaunted Chicago crowd to adapt at lightning speed to its more skillful adversaries on Capitol Hill, while at the same time taking a crash course on harnessing the full power of bully pulpit

Poor widdle babies.  Tsk, Tsk.  Here’s my suggestion to President Obama:

RESIGN. You made history as the first African-American president and you’re making history again by outdoing Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush, hell, even Warren Harding  in the incompetence department.  Let your Secretary of State assume the charge you are so ill-prepared to execute.

Since what you’re really good at is talking empty platitudes from a podium and making lots of misguided people give you money, why don’t you start your own church?  Hey, it worked Reverend Moon!

Hmmm…moon, hey, I got it!  Here’s an idea from  Hillbuzz to inspire you:

bho-space

Cuz being the most powerful man on Earth is so played out.

  1. No, SM, he has to stick around until he outdoes Millard Fillmore in the failure department. LOL! Great post!

  2. Caption to come.. But first..

Some more sobering numbers (ballpark). As always, DK will set me straight where necessary.

    Annual US GNP: 14 trillion
Annual US Govt Budget: 3 trillion (revenue basis)
Total US National Debt: 10 trillion (prior to financial crisis)

The 10 trillion debt is held by:

    1) SS, Medicare, other public sector funds: 4 trillion
    2) Domestic private sector: 2 trillion
    3) Foreign investment: 4 trillion (2 trillion China, 1 trillion Japan)

New debt that has resulted from the financial crisis:

    1) Bailouts, guarantees, equity infusions, monetary policy (to date): 2 trillion
    2) Possible new stimulus plan: 1 trillion
    3) Possible new financial bailout: up to 2 trillion

New debt that must be sold in 2009 is up to 5 trillion, raising the total US National Debt to 15 trillion, making our annual GNP roughly equal to our National Debt.

Who will invest in the additional 5 trillion this year. No more big contributions likely from the domestic primate sector. Expectations will be with foreign sovereign investors (one reason Hillary is on the road to China and Japan). If not from these investors, it will come out of Social Security. Which is why Barry is currently talking about Social Security “reform”.

In addition to expanding the “Faith Based” program and pumping in $100million in new money, he is not going to reverse the Bush exec. order that allows the programs to discriminate against LGBTs and anyone else they choose. He also named and flaming homophobe and misogynist to the 25 person advisory board…Frank Page..

I don’t see the humor in this statement. Right now Justice Ginsburg is in Sloan-Kettering recovering from surgery for pancreatic cancer that was discovered during her annual checkup about 2 weeks ago..

  14. text message from Obama

“snd fruitbskt to Ruthie. Check donor list -Find muslim for SC.”

    WOW.

Angie NC, that almost made me verklempt-y.

  17. ainnj:

I just found out about it. My heart is breaking over Ginsburg. WTF – why do we lose the good ones so soon?

  18. “The President is not amused.”

  19. ainnj – Nobody admires Ruth Bader Ginsburg more than I do. She has battled ill health for years, coming into work when she was extremely weak and sick. She has nothing but the profoundest respect from her colleagues and the people who have clerked under her.

I will always remember these famous words:

    “I dissent.”

She is a woman beyond the price of rubies. I can only hope to emulate her courage and strength in the smallest of ways.

  20. Aw jeez Arabella!

As long as the replacement is pro-choice, he could worship the Giant Green Lizard for all I care.

But I have a feeling the replacement, should RBG pass, will be someone awful. Like Cass Sunstein. Who, I might add, is most likely Jewish.

  21. Obama probably has confused “pancreas” with “uterus” is so dumb.

He’ll make a slip when he’s talking about it. If he deigns to do so. Yes, the good die young.

  22. Ainnj – I didn’t know that. Maybe I just have hope that she will last as long as Ted Kennedy with his brain cancer.

    ;-(

  23. ainnj- I did read on ABCNews that her cancer was found very early and there was hope that she would have a better prognosis. Praying that will be the case.

  24. Cass Susstein is reportedly on Obama’s short list. When I mentioned this at a certain liberal blog (during the campaign) nobody believed me.

My bet is Cass Susstein gets the nod.

Obamaland = All Jews are fungible. He sees Ginsburg’s position as “the Jewish seat.”

Sounds horrible, but I beleive this is how he thinks.

    *****************************************

contrary to popular opinion, obama is not pro-choice and he will not be nominating anyone near the character or quality of Justice Ginsburg. He will not nominate anyone who openly admits being pro-choice. Why should he? His followers just accept everything he does without question. Protecting and promoting the rights and health of women is not even on mr. obama’s to do list.

  26. From the WA Times: A day after banning corporate executives from earning more than $500,000 a year via taxpayer bailouts, Mr. Obama on Thursday will head to a Democratic retreat that has burned through half a million dollars in taxpayer cash for annual retreats at luxury resorts. Mr. Obama will head to Kingsmill Resort and Spa in the historical Virginia city to start a three-day planning session. The resort boasts multiple championship golf courses, a full-service spa and six restaurants.
Democrats will ride together to the resort on a chartered Amtrak train at a cost to taxpayers of about $70,000, the Hill reported. Taxpayers will also foot the bill for security helicopters to fly above the train. The caucus will spend thousands: In 2003, for example, they spent $11,200 on food and $6,900 on entertainment, the paper said.

Exactly why is it that they can’t plan somewhere in DC? Is this idiot totally oblivious to the fact that there are people who are losing their jobs, houses, etc while he golfs, eats $100 steak and ‘plans’.

  27. Obama – For President of Space! LOL.

Hey a got a laugh from that one!

  28. I had the privilege of seeing RBG speak at my law school — it was the anniversary of her win as an attorney in the US Fifth Circuit in 1973 to allow women to serve on juries. She was beyond what you would expect — gracious, smart, — I can’t think of enough superlatives. Pancreatic cancer is, as ainj noted above, super bad. My prayers are with her. I’m lighting a candle now.

  29. Ugh. Well, I doubt he sees it as “the female seat.”

    Gawd Obama sucks.

  30. As I said before, Ginsburg has been fighting cancer for a long time. She is in one of the best cancer hospitals in the United States. I pray that she lives many more years.

But if for one minute you think Obama cares about her health, you are wrong. Anybody who dies, retires, or goes to jail just provides Obama with another opportunity to pay somebody back. And my bet is that he won’t be able to conceal his indifference.

  31. ” You’re full of crap and so am I.”

  32. Justice Ginsburg had colon cancer in the ’90s. She was only just recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the end of January, when a lesion was discovered during a yearly examination.

WASHINGTON — The husband of President Obama’s Labor secretary nominee paid about $6,400 Wednesday to settle tax liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years against his business, the Obama administration told USA TODAY this afternoon.

The disclosure came shortly before a scheduled 2 p.m. meeting of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, which will vote on Rep. Hilda Solis’ nomination as labor secretary. The hearing was postponed; no reason was immediately revealed.

One of the major reasons the prognosis is so bad is that the ca is not discovered until it causes symptoms. When symptoms occur, the disease has usually spread. Her ca was discovered on a “routine” ct-scan and was small. Her biggest immediate problem is her age combined with fragile health and (if the “usual” surgery was done) a huge operation.

  51. SHV — I’m glad to hear that — my aunt died of pancreatic cancer within 2 months after diagnosis — of course, her’s was as you describe — diagnosed after symptoms (not early like the case with RBG). 53. lakota — Rep. José Serrano (D-NY) introduced HJ Res 5 in the beginning of January 2009 it is a measure to repeal the 22nd Amendment, which provides the only term limit on federal office — the Presidency.

If it was repealed, I don’t think it would have much effect. The only President that I can think of, after FDR, who would have likely been elected for a third term is Bill Clinton. The 22nd was Republican petty backlash against FDR and the “New Deal”.

  57. Ginsburg was never comfortable with basing a woman’s right to choose on the right to privacy argument but she was and continues to be an extremely strong proponent of a woman’s right to choose and furthermore believes that abortions should be covered under Medicaid.

  61. D’oh! I meant “perfectly ok to discriminate against women”
where the h3ck did I come up with “tomorrow” LOL

  62. Thanks, Angie. After a little reading, I see that Serrano has introduced legislation to repeal the 22nd Amendment seven times. Barney Frank and Harry Reid have also introduced legislation in the past. I’m sure they will somehow get on board with this new effort! I’m so sick of these people!

  63. SHV – No way Kmiec makes it past the Senate. He’s too radical. Sunstein, however, is just smarmy enough (a la Roberts, whom Obama initially supported) to get through.

I think that was her point…bad law=challenges. The “funny” thing about Roe is that I don’t remember that the decision was a big deal at the time. The case was more related to protecting doctors that “right to choose or women’s rights. At that time evangelicals did care about the issue.

  76. “Obama’s advisers want to be certain tax dollars sent to the faith-based social service groups are used for secular purposes, such as feeding the hungry or housing the homeless, and not for religious evangelism. ”

I’m sorry, but why do they need to be the middlemen between my tax dollars and the hungry and homeless? Don’t we have unemployment and welfare programs (gutted though they are) that not only help the needy, but also directly create government jobs for those administering them? So, let me get this straight: instead of directly administering programs to feed and house people who need help, we are forking over tax dollars to people WHO DON’T PAY TAXES TO BEGIN WITH! Oh, yeah, but we will have the same quality oversight we have come to expect from our political leaders, to insure that the funds are not used for propagandizing. Uh-huh. Kind of like the oversight for the Wall Street handout.

I really have begun to believe that I’m in some kind of bizarre medically-induced coma peopled by the darkest elements of my imagination, and I can’t wake up. HELP!

  77. SHV — exactly — bad law = challenges because the so-called “right to privacy” was a creation of the Burger Court (that is, it isn’t actually written in the Constitution — it is, as the Burger Court defined it, a penubral right). If the opinion had used the Due Process or Equal Protection clauses it would have used clauses actually written in the Constitution. Of course, that would have meant that those clauses explicitly applied to women. Right now, in fact, they don’t — the only place in the Constitution that specifically applies to women is the 19th amendment right to vote. So, as usual, we can blame the patriarchy for the lousy Roe v. Wade decision. LOL

  78. tle: obama’s middle men are responsible for GOTV for him … they have to be paid, because they played

  79. My mom lived for nearly nine years after her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer at age 77. It was not cancer, but a stroke, that killed her. She did endure an entire year of grueling treatment, however, including the “big” operation that SHV mentions.

May Justice Ginsberg enjoy a full recovery and return to the bench where she has served so honorably. The thought of Obama replacing her or John Paul Stevens appalls me.

  80. Madamab,

I apologize. I had a conference call. On the last thread you asked me about archivists and the Patriot Act.

The Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (the USA PATRIOT Act) is a privacy issue that involves archivists and curators because we provide access to records that involve public and private information. We believe in civil liberties for all. When we are required to share usage records with the government it violates the privacy of our users.

Gregg Will Help Move Entitlement Reform

For now, recruiting Gregg for Commerce is scant consolation for the loss of Daschle. But in months to come, Gregg will be worth celebrating. He is one of the smart guys on Capitol Hill, especially when it comes to fiscal policy. And he provides Obama with a third strong Republican Cabinet member, joining Defense Secretary Bob Gates and Ray LaHood at Transportation.

Gregg and North Dakota Sen. Kent Conrad, respectively, the top Republican and Democrat on the Budget Committee, have been pushing for the creation of a bipartisan commission that would tackle the looming bankruptcy of the three big entitlement programs — Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Conrad told me he deeply regrets the departure of his partner and does not know where to find a substitute.

But help may be on the way. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, the No. 3 man in the Senate Republican leadership, quietly joined the Budget Committee last month. When I asked him why, he said it was to “help move the Gregg-Conrad commission proposal forward.”

Moreover, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader of the Senate, told the National Press Club that a bipartisan deal on entitlements is something he thinks can and should happen in this Congress.

Obama said the same thing when he visited The Washington Post just before the inauguration, and now he has in Gregg someone who can help him lobby Congress to move that project forward.

The problem is likely to be in the House, where Speaker Nancy Pelosi remains opposed to the commission idea and where Republicans are adamant against considering tax hikes along with benefit reductions in any kind of “grand bargain.”

  88. Thanks Afrocity! I appreciate your sharing that perspective. Maybe a more Constitution-loving archivist will slip past Obama’s “vetting process.” Hey, the shoddiness can’t ALWAYS work against us!

  89. Okay Downticket, I am throwing up right now.

  90. I don’t think the 22nd Amendment will be repealed. That’s not my point. My point is that there are actually people who think three terms of Obama would be a good thing.

Obama, as much as he already obviously hates the job, must think 12 years of his rule is a great idea too. Remember during the campaign he kept talking about “two terms and beyond.” At first I thought, eh – the idiot is just misspeaking again. But now I’m not so sure.

It’s a moot point. I don’t think Obama has the physical stamina to do even one term.

  91. Nope Arabella, he looks exhausted already.

    Or

    “I’m no leader. I’m a screw-up. I have no input what-so-ever.”

    Or

“I’d rather be reading bedtime stories to school kids.”

    😆

  93. “Since what you’re really good at is talking empty platitudes from a podium and making lots of misguided people give you money, why don’t you start your own church? Hey, it worked Reverend Moon!”

Absolutely the best suggestion I’ve heard for a job for him!

I agree wholeheartedly. That’s why I’ve been posting these pictures of him 2 days in a row.

It’s all in the eyes – look at how tired he looks. Even on the campaign trail, he never looked this exhausted.

I just want him to just wake up one day, drag himself out of bed and shout – “I QUIT!” – which would probably be the most honorable thing he ever did in his life.

  99. Lincoln is whispering in my ear, he is telling me that he is so ashamed of me and that I should not have gotten off that train from Chicago. And he also wants me to stop using his name in vain…

  100. Lincoln: “…conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal…”

Barry: “…absof**kinlutely – specially the part about “all men” – please continue…”

  101. Downticket:

WTF – they are just undoing the New Deal at lightning speed!!!!!!!

  102. He is looking tired, but have you noticed how wonderful Hillary looks? She positively glows. She lives to work.

  103. I am so glad that Etta James is speaking out about Beyonce singing her song “At Last”. Obama should have asked Etta to sing it. But apparently Etta has no love for Obama either.

  104. I am in moderation 😦

  105. sm77 – That was the plan all along. That’s why Hillary couldn’t be President.

I am sick to my stomach.

Unlike Bill Clinton who thrived on hard work…too bad he couldn’t have run for a third term..IIRC, his end of term approval rating was in the mid-sixties.

  107. Do you think this will affect Hilda Solis? It is her husband and not her that didn’t pay taxes. I don’t think a man whose wife didn’t pay taxes would be affected by this

Solis Senate Session Postponed in Wake of Husband’s Tax Lien Revelations

A Senate committee today abruptly canceled a session to consider President Obama’s nomination of Rep. Hilda Solis to be labor secretary in the wake of a report saying that her husband yesterday paid about $6,400 to settle tax liens against his business — including liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years.

The report, by USA Today, came just before the Senate’s Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee was slated to meet to consider Solis’s nomination, which had been delayed by questions over her role on the board of the pro-labor organization American Rights at Work. A source said that committee members did not learn about the tax issue until today.

Why is this Happy Negro always here?

Does he come here because with each growing day he realizes what a pathetic joke the man he elected is becoming? And now he wants to take it our on PUMAs?

I feel so sorry for HBB a person whose self esteem is so intricately connected to an empty suit president.

Your ears must be burning so much now because everyone is beginning to realize that Obama is not a leader.

  110. Thanks for getting me from Spammy

  111. HBG – You never make any arguments at all. All you do is name-call and stalk.

    Anyone can do that.

Don’t worry about HBG. He is obsessed with us PUMAs. Gawd knows why since we are so awful and delusional and whatnot.

  117. Funny comment from the article I posted above

“Is it just me or is this entire transition becoming a pathetic farce. I love Obama, but I am getting sick of having to defend him from right wingers who keep pointing out that Bush didn’t seem to have these problems with his appointees. It’s embarrassing.”

Sweetie, you’d better get used to it. the only “Hope” and “Change” you’re going to be getting the next four years is Hoping we get to Change the Presidency again in 2112.

Don’t be enbarassed, though. We’ll chock this up to ignorance, which can be fixed. It’s stupidity that’s permanent.

It shouldn’t but following three other people with tax problems..it’s trouble for her.

  123. The comments on that site are too much. BTW it wasn’t Hilda but her husband. Some people seem to forget that when it concerns women politicians.

My problem with Solis? She doesn’t think BIG enough! Geithner skips on $40,000, and Daschle skips on $250,000! Her’s is a measly $6400? That’s chump change, suitable for a county manager!

Yr. in the big leagues now Hilda – if you’re are going to cheat on taxes, it’s got to be BIG money!

Go back to victim island with the rest of the AA’s that voted for Obama and burn your hoochie coo funk incense . In 2012 you will have to plan the Million Idiot March.

I bet there is not a “happy black woman” in your house.

You know your President? The one with the big ears? He might by your President, he isn’t my President.

    OMFG — I looove her!

  136. Do we need a post on Ruth Bader Ginsburg? I’ve got a short one.

  137. I have an idea for job creation in the stimulus package. We will be needing many workers in the mental health field to deal with kook-aid addition withdrawal on a mass scale. Treatment facilities (architects, contractors), mental health experts, administrators, laundry facilities, cafeteria personnel…

  138. Nothing an Obot says can ever change who Obama really is and no amount of myth making can ameliorate his past or the present downward course he is taking our country. Yell, scream, blow a fuse Obots, it means nothing. You cannot bully anyone else into silence. Mr. Obama you are

    Signifying nothing.”

Daley mum on stimulus project list
    February 4, 2009 6:49 PM | 4 Comments

Mayor Richard Daley said today Chicago has compiled a wish list of “shovel-ready projects” to spend federal economic stimulus funds should Congress approve them.

Unlike hundreds of other cities, however, Daley said Chicago won’t make its list public.

“Yes, we do, we have our list, we’ve been talking to people. We did not put that out publicly because once you start putting it out publicly, you know, the newspapers, the media is going to be ripping it apart,” Daley said.

  146. PUMAs,

    I need your help.

Yesterday a 10 year old boy was found hung A 10-year-old boy found hanging in an Evanston, Illinois (suburb of Chicago) school restroom had threatened to take his life, sources said today, underscoring experts’ warnings to take cries for help seriously even from the very young.

Scolded by a teacher, Aquan Lewis responded with a threat to kill himself the same day his body was discovered, said sources familiar with the investigation.

Pumas, this child was African American and there is a cover up going on here. There was no noose. He was found hanging from a purse hook in a bathroom stall. We believe this child was bullied and Evanston PS is lying:

Doc’s son is going to Med School at Tulane and the son’s wife is an architect who is/was working with Brad on the housing thing in the 9th ward! Brave souls, they bought a fixer-upper in the Irish Channel to live in.

I keep begging Doc to talk his son into staying in LA for awhile and open a practice there since Blanco passed some deal whereby they forgive some of the med school costs or pay them for you if you will stay in LA a certain number of years.

I don’t have much faith in Crass Sunstein either. He really has blinders on about history, doesn’t he? It wasn’t like the reason the ERA didn’t pass because ole Phyllis Schlafly went on a national tirade convincing people men and women they would be forced to use unisex bathrooms ala “Ally McBeal.” And while Atty Schlafly was a hypocrite, a feminist in her own right but not in belief, she was not a part of the Moral Majority as to my understanding.

God watch over Justice Ginsberg. She’s a tough cookie. If anyone can beat pancreatic cancer, she can. I’m sending all the positive thoughts I can. Could the Confluence have a pic of a burning candle at the top for her? Then we’d see it every time we check in and will be sending our collective thoughts and good wishes!

Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.
Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.

Only Renelique didn’t arrive in time. According to Williams and the FL Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.

What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic’s owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant’s umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out….

Expectations will be with foreign sovereign investors (one reason Hillary is on the road to China and Japan). If not from these investors, it will come out of Social Security. Which is why Barry is currently talking about Social Security “reform”.

My prediction — there is going to be a massive sell off our our country’s assets (taxpayer’s assets — we own this county — and the assets are anything that can be sold off to PRIVATE individuals or corporations).

These assets will be sold off — sort of like a fire sale — cheap — and a few folk who perhaps funded Obama’s campaign will be the major buyers.
