Girly Girl Open Thread – For Afrocity

Enough of this football stuff. Let’s talk about Hillary and the awesome job she is going to do as Secretary of State.

Aren’t you glad she’s going to be the foreign president, even though she won’t be inaugurated on Tuesday, as she so richly deserved to be?

Oh, and if you’re sad about the Ravens losing, here’s some Baltimore sports pr0n for you.

  1. God, men look so stupid when they try to do “sexy” poses. LOL Really, could that guy look more uncomfortable?

  2. Angie – No you Didn’t. Do NOT make fun of Jim Palmer, or I shall have to start remarking on Terry Bradshaw’s incredible lack of brain capacity!!!

    🙂

  3. He does look uncomfy. I just wanna give him a shirt and some pants. Let’s go have lunch, baby, we can discuss the perfume later.

Hillary is amazing. She never sleeps, never stops. Somebody, somewhere needs to write a book about her to be published after her passing, detailing her life in full. I know she’s written about herself but come on, she’s a little modest in that respect. Someone who actually likes her should take a crack at recording her real accomplishments for posterity.

  4. I don’t know, I go to Hillbuzz for the articles, but they have some great looking guys who look pretty comfortable.

  5. Hee!

I will post a better one for you all. He was a very handsome man.

  6. Oh, he was selling the banana hammock. Well, that’s a failure to process. That’s how little I want that thing. I want the barbells though. They’re shiny.

  7. The Hillbuzz guys are always awesome though. Dude, we should have gotten Hillary to pose with some of them and send out mailers. That would have gotten the easily distractable types back to our side. Teh pretty!

  8. Oh I used to have that Jim Palmer poster next to my Eric Estrada…. lol

  9. Thank’s Madamab!!!

This Black Ann Coulter is smiling!!!!!!

Been a rough day. It is terribly cold here, terribly. I went to my usual haunts. three great vintage stores and scored some great items. Turned off the TV when I saw the debauchery of the Obama concert at Lincoln Memorial. Do Obots have no shame?

  10. Heh. Ann Coulter should have 1/10th of the class you have, Afrocity!

Hope you all like the other picture better. Rrrrrowwwwrrrr!

  11. He looks ok to me too Angie. Just the dumbells he’s holding makes him look a bit like a dumbell. He had one great pitching motion though.

These days, I like thinking of the US Executive branch like the one in the UK. BamBam is the Queen, and Hillary is Prime Minister.

  12. Jim Palmer in his heyday-yikes!!
Every one who is trying to look sexy looks stupid, regardless of sex.
    Jim Palmer was sexy.

  13. oh, yay! Hillary loving blog!
Regency is right. Only good thing about broing old football is sweaty, hot men jumping on each other.
I’m a little bit of a girly girl, but I hate sports because I’m no good at them, lol.
oh. Love the Hillbuzz boys. Those are some of my favorite gays, let me tell you, but I think Hillary did pose with them once! There is a picture of her with a bunch of gay men, I always thought it was them!

  14. madamab — I never said Terry Bradshaw was smart he is as dumb as a bag of hair — but he is funny (and no dumber than the other ex-football players turned commenters).

Much better picture of Jim Palmer.

  15. OT…(Whatever it is) Today, Obama said he wouldn’t reverse Bush’s exec order banning stem cell research. He wants Congress to do it…Headline: Obama votes “present” on stem cell research.

  16. Three Wickets – You’ll like the new picture then. Shows him in full pitching motion!

  17. Lets talk about the sexy men of THE CONFLUENCE.

  18. SHV – It’s an open thread! There is no OT!

I thought I had read that. He is something else, isn’t he? Gotta keep those fundiegelicals at all costs…

  19. You have done it, I have reverted back to my Brooklyn childhood and the 1969 Mets- Orioles World Series. As a Mets fan I didn’t fully ‘appreciate’ Palmer. Of course, the Mets won, so I guess I liked him fine.

  20. LI: I totally have that pic of Hill with teh Hill Gays. They should start a barbershop quartet. This amuses me greatly.

I could probably be better at sports if I tried.

  21. Honora – LOL!

I can’t please ya tonight, as much as I try. Sigh.

Would you like me to call you “hon” and sing a few lines from “Hairspray?”

  22. He does look uncomfy. I just wanna give him a shirt and some pants. Let’s go have lunch, baby, we can discuss the perfume later.

There’s a decent idea. I liked someone’s idea in a previous thread about Hillary and Bill co writing a biography, but I’ve always hated it when people call them, “the Clintons”. It undermines them, particularly Hillary.

I, for one, would like to see a biography about Hillary written by someone who actually likes her and doesn’t have some axe to grind.

You know, a biography written by someone other than Ed Klien…

who wrote a several hundred page book that was all about how Hillary is a lesbian and has sex with women, and how Big Dawg r*ped her to concieve Chelsea. I was reading bits of it in a half price books once. It was called ‘THE TRUTH ABOUT HILLARY” and it was hilarious. I was reading it and LOLing.

  23. House marathon on Election Day! Thank you, USA, you clearly understand my feelings.

  24. Hey all – I am lurking from Lihue, Kauai – heading out to dinner – first had to get my daily fix from reading the comments. You crack me up & keep me going !!! Thank you !!

Tuesday – no papers, no tv !! I could not stand being on the “mainland” –

  25. LI: I totally have that pic of Hill with teh Hill Gays. They should start a barbershop quartet. This amuses me greatly.

I could probably be better at sports if I tried.

Regency, go to Hillary Daily! They have a new post up with Hill’s designer Oscar De La Rent, and he is talking about her and it is adorable! go go! You will die!

Like, supposedly, he is always trying to get Hillary to skimplify more, but she hates showing skin, even though she is damn sexy.

She actually has pretty nice, you know….
What is she, a C cup? B, at least.

  26. The Legend of Ms. Baltimore Crabs is better.

*smacks Ed Klein* Jesus, make a law, somebody about making shit up while snorts heroine and watching General Hospital and then getting it published. Just say no to slander.

That would be a short conversation.

  28. I am an “A” cup 😦

  29. I’m pretty sure that Hairspray (the real one) was filmed down the Ritchie Highway near where I grew up…

  30. Angie!!!! LOL!!!!!! You are cracking me up!

    Slim pickings indeed!!

  31. I vote for ElderJ !!!

  32. Lets see — elderj (‘natch, he’s a Capricorn). Gary, Mawm, (not only playing for the other team, but a couple at that) SHV (married — so automatically off the “hot” list — sorry, should have stayed single)– who am I leaving out? LOL

  33. lol, Regency…
I will so be watching that instead of inauguration…
Can you imagine if Hillary were being inaugurated today instead of Obie? Would there be this much hoopla?
No. Every woman in America would be crying with happiness, but all the media types would be walking around mumbling about the scary v*gina being sworn in.
But since Obie is a half black dude who is so “in” with Washington Beltway, it is so kewl and ever so wonderful and historicallish and stuff.
    OMG
If only it were our girl. Chris Matthews and them would be wide eyed and scared at all the women crying and dancing and celebrating on the streets. They would say, “oh sh*t”

    Sigh…
And I would feel so much better.

  34. All right folks – must go take a walk in the snow.

    Nighty-night!

  35. Palmer didn’t have Nolan Ryan’s fastball, but he was a total pitcher.

Could we post that pic with Hill and the HB guys. Cause I know they are guys, but maybe it would help convince Rush.

  36. ElderJ — the hands down unanimous “sexy male Confluecian”

  37. night madamab!

  38. can some one post the Hill daily link? Thanks

  39. Night Madamab, you belle of NYC

  40. Angie you forgot someone….

What about Brad.. The Michael Moore of the Confluence

  41. nighty nite madamab!

  42. LI: Just went to Hillbuzz. What date is the Oscar de La Renta post? There are so many good ones, I could be here all night catching up.

  43. Meh, I still vote for ElderJ.

  44. *smacks Ed Klein* Jesus, make a law, somebody about making shit up while snorts heroine and watching General Hospital and then getting it published. Just say no to slander.

LOL! Don’t worry, I bet Hillary lol’d at it too. There was another one called BIG SISTER IS WATCHING YOU.

And Chris Matthews. Remember how, a couple of years ago he was trying to get people to say how many times a month Hill and Big Dawg had “conjugal visits” as RD puts it?

There were a lot of media types doing it in those days, but Chris Matthews was the worse. He was creepiest from the beginning.

  45. SHV (married — so automatically off the “hot” list — sorry,
    ••••••••••••
    Holy sh*t..when did that happen?

  46. Regency, it is on Hillary Daily. I will paste here…

BARBARA WALTERS: Now, you’re very close to Hillary Clinton?
OSCAR DE LA RENTA: Of course I am. I love Hillary.
BARBARA WALTERS: Do you say to her, Hillary I don’t like that on you, or that’s not good and you should do this [and] not that?
OSCAR DE LA RENTA: I try to advise her the best I can, you know, we always have a big, huge fight about – – you know, Hillary, in a sense, is sort of very prudish about the type of clothes she likes to wear and you know from the waist up she really looks great.
BARBARA WALTERS: She’s really tiny. She has a small waist and nice bosom.
OSCAR DE LA RENTA: She feels very uncomfortable about wearing revealing kind[s] of cloths and so we are always fighting about the neckline. I do remember one time, we were at a party at the Metropolitan Museum and she was wearing, for the first time, something very, very open and then all of sudden she arrived with a big, huge shawl over her shoulder. And I kept pulling the shawl down and [she] kept pulling it up because she felt uncomfortable about showing her shoulders.

  47. SHV — you aren’t married? maybe I’m confusing you with 3 Wickets.

  48. Then there is that clown person…A certain someone

  49. if any of you are going to be in new orleans next weekend, I’m going to be playing jazz and then accompanying an alt theatre production down here in the bohemian bywater at the backyard theatre … for those of you not into the gladiator sports 🙂 it’s set in nawlins in the 20s and 30s so I’m playing lots of gershwin 🙂

  50. afrocity — whomever can you mean? LOL

  51. SHV is a guy.????

..ooops I thought you were a very handsome woman.

Two ex wives and in an “odd” relationship.

  53. lol, Afro! How could you think he was a woman???

  54. The talk of men is so polite here, guess it may be blogging manner. But men are typically much more savage, when they talk of women, at least the straight hormonal ones, but I generalize..

  56. Slightly O/T, but hubby and I just watched “The Queen” on DVD (we’re a little behind the curve). The parallel between the completely unbalanced gushing over Diana upon her death brings to mind the current mindless fawning over Obama. When Diana died, the unwarranted adulation on the part of so many was pretty unsettling (mob mentality is never terribly attractive). After all, Diana’s greatest talent consisted of looking good (with unlimited funds and time at her disposal). That, and a cunning ability to manipulate press coverage. Other than that, not much substance there.

But given a bit of time, here comes Helen Mirren as a sympathetic Elizabeth, faced with the mob for the first time in her life – and Helen walks away with an Academy Award. Seems the myth of Diana quickly faded, once the flash bulbs stopped popping. After all, what was there to remember other than a cleverly marketed pretty face? It’s quite likely that Obama will face the same sort of faded luster before too long – hopefully, long before the 2012. Problem is, he stands to do a hell of a lot more substantive damage before the bubble bursts.

  57. 3 Wickets — you don’t have to tell us that — we’ve been over to the big orange cheeto & the site that shall not be named.

  58. oh…. how so, Three Wickets?

  59. Well the avatar is so small and I always wanted to ask but I did not know how.

  60. Kat5 — thank god you said it — I always thought Diana was overhyped too. I remember that about 2 days after Diana died Mother Teresa died & the news barely mentioned her — swear to god Tom Brokaw said “Mother Teresa died today, another great woman like Diana” and that was it!

  61. I always liked SHV’s statue icon … but will admit it was adrogenous looking … but who cares what sex folks are unless you intend to have children with them? I mean really!

  62. Whoops, in mod. And it was such a good thought.

Angie, I’m not a regular Conflucian, yet. HB says I won’t survive. But yes, my wife is watching Top Chef on Bravo in the next room.

Dakinikat, you have many talents. Wish I could be doing exactly just that, a week from now.

  63. I like elderj, but I can’t say I am basing it on much. But I don’t know – if he is Capricorn – not sure we’d get along so well.

angie – help me understand, as an Aires. I have fought my whole life with my Dad who is Capricorn, but get along really well with one of my brothers, who is a Capricorn.

  64. see, I think the way SHV is holding his shoulders in that pic is a dead giveaway — man — no woman poses like that for a picture (or, at least, wouldn’t use it as her avatar).

  65. Diana actually put her fame where her mouth was. Barack put his fame where his foot is.

LI: *hee* She has very slender shoulders. I think it’s cute. As much as I’d love it if she let it all hang out, I can understand feeling self-conscious about it. She should show what makes her comfy.

  66. Aw…
I like princess Di. I think it was just that she was so young, and there was something so sweet about her.
I don’t like it that Obie should be compared to her. She was a princess. What substance is there supposed to be? She obviously had a personality, even if it was fragile. I liked her!

  67. SHV,

Most people think I look like a tranny .

  68. Fran — I’m not saying I get along with capricorns (I’m an aries too) but I am always attracted to them.

brother/sister relationships are different though from romantic relationships as are father/daughter relationships, so I don’t think astrology has much to do with those — they are more useful with romantic and friendship relationships.

  69. littleisis, well the basic objectifying of women drill..

dakinikat, that’s a very deep thought, worthy of your brilliance.

  70. Regency:

    *nods nods*
She dresses well, and she is a classy lady. She might seem reserved on the outside, but, being a Scorpio, she is a boiling pot of sex underneath that frosty exterior.

  71. i have to admit to having an issue with Mother Theresa … I mean really, if she’d support birth control and such, she wouldn’t have had so many dying people to care for … how can you say you really care about folks and the ill and the poor and not help them bring children into the world at a time when they wont’ starve, suffer and die?

and the pope used her so badly at the end for all that pro-protohuma propaganda … at some point handing out condoms is more saintly than standing vigil over some one dying because they can’t get condoms to prevent aids or pregancies that bring another starving child in the world to die of disease… how is that compassionate and saintly?

  72. I have no issue with Mother Teresa — the woman lived her entire life working with, helping & bringing attention to children with leprosy — children whom other people would never touch. I don’t give a sh!t about her views on birth control.

  73. Being a Taurus (Earth Sign), I have a thing for water sings. Scorpios, Pisces, Cancers….
Air signs, not so much. My best friend is a Gemini, and I am friends with so many Geminis, I attract them like the plague.
But my ex boyfriend is a Gemini….
Not a good combination for romance.
I don’t mind Capricorns though. My mom is a Capricorn, and she is a very pleasant person.

  74. Diana was certainly classier than Chuck, but why do people still feel the need for royalty. Is it in our genes. Cause I think people already think of Barry as America’s own Little Prince.

  75. dakinikat, on January 18th, 2009 at 11:47 pm Said:

I always liked SHV’s statue icon … but will admit it was adrogenous looking
    **************
That was the head of “Science” (a woman)..a statue in front of the Boston Public library. After the “reality” icons seemed to be the trend at RD’s place, I changed mine.

  76. Mother Theresa was a good person, even if her birth control and abortion issues were way too militant for my taste.

  77. You are always attracted to the opposite sex of your “square” sign

    Aries-Capricorn-Cancer
    Taurus -Aquarius-Leo
    Gemini-Virgo-Pisces
    Cancer-Libra-Aries
    Leo- Scorpio-Taurus
    Virgo-Sagittarius-Gemini
    Libra-Capricorn-Cancer
    Scorpio-Leo, Aquarius
    Sagittarius-Virgo, Pisces
    Capricorn-Aries,Libra
    Pisces-Gemini, Sagittarius

  78. OY! Swannie just found me on twitter!

  79. Thanks, angie. My SO, who died, was an Aires also. Oh boy.

  80. LI: I can certainly speak for the the boiling sexuality under the frosty exterior.

Afrocity: I actually do look manly. That’s just how the thing upstairs made me. I’m not too happy about it but *shrug*

  81. 3 Wickets — I disagree about that — Charles never went on tv and bad mouthed the mother of his children the way Diana went on tv & bad mouthed the father of her sons (well, one son at least — Harry looks an awful lot like James Hewitt).

  82. Sorry to burst the princess bubble, isis. it’s just that I’m old and mean and I’ve seen it all (well, at least half of it), and Diana always struck me as an extremely manipulative woman. That divorce-is-imminent interview with the kohl-rimmed eyes made me want to upchuck, hardhearted Hannah that I am. Sure, there probably was some sweetness there, but Diana was above all about marketing herself. She was a pretty messed up woman. Just like Barky’s a pretty messed up dude.

  83. why am I in moderation again?

  84. afrocity: when I think of you, i think of when I was a barely pregant 26 and met Maya in a hot nebraska summer and she read this with all her power and glory:
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them
    They think I’m telling lies.
    I say
It’s in the reach of my arms
    The span of my hips
    The stride of my steps
    The curl of my lips.
    I’m a woman
    Phenomenally
    Phenomenal woman
    That’s me.

  85. My mom got pregnant with me because she dropped her birth control pill and it roll underneath the fridge.

  86. I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please
    And to a man
    The fellows stand or
    Fall down on their knees
    Then they swarm around me
    A hive of honey bees.
    I say
It’s the fire in my eyes
And the flash of my teeth
    The swing of my waist
And the joy in my feet.
    I’m a woman
    Phenomenally
    Phenomenal woman
    That’s me.

  87. What is Twitter and should I get one?

My mother is a Leo which makes for both hilarity and weirdness. I don’t want someone like my mother and certainly don’t want someone who can join forces with her against me. I don’t know any Libras.

  88. Men themselves have wondered
    What they see in me
    They try so much
    But they can’t touch
    My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
    I say
It’s in the arch of my back
    The sun of my smile
    The ride of my breasts
    The grace of my style.
    I’m a woman
    Phenomenally
    Phenomenal woman
    That’s me.

  89. I actually rather liked Diana. Yes, she, like Obama was a major marketing machine, and she was no intellectual giant, but she put her name out there and did tons of charity work. She brought attention to lots of really bad stuff. Obama just uses his popularity to feed itself.

You might say, well given how crazy famous she was, all the charity work she did was the least she could do, but Obama doesn’t even meet the least he could do standard. And Obama’s asking for a far greater position than Diana ever did.

And as far as politics go, she was (sadly) probably more fit for political office than our own Princess Caroline.

  90. afro:

    *nods*

  91. Afrocity, wish I knew how to read that, look so interesting.

  92. Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud
    When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
    I say
It’s in the click of my heels
    The bend of my hair
    The palm of my hand
    The need of my care.
    ‘Cause I’m a woman
    Phenomenally
    Phenomenal woman
    That’s me.

  93. Re-post (from one that got sent to moderation)

I disagree 3 Wickets — Chuck did not go on tv & talk badly about he m*ther of his children the way Diana went on tv & bad mouthed the f*ther of her sons (well, one son at least — H*rry looks a lot like J*mes H*witt).

  94. Aren’t you glad she’s going to be the foreign president,…

    Yes!

  95. Follow the money …..

“Lobbyists for insurers, drug-benefit managers and others in the health industry are mobilizing a campaign to persuade Congress that overly stringent privacy protections would frustrate the potential benefits of digital records.
Advisers to Obama said he favors strong privacy protections but does not want the dispute to slow down the bill.”

WORM: He doesn’t give a sh*t about our medical privacy.

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/text/2008641948_files18.html

  96. So if you are a Gemini, your natural enemies are Virgos and Pisces. However you may be attracted to persons of teh opposite sex from those signs. They supply you with something you do not have.

  97. I liked Princess Diana…although, of course not monarchies really.

To me she represented emotion and caring versus protocol in her conflict with the rest of the Royal Family, and struggles to find a satisfying long-term relationship and a meaningful life. She also, I believe, did many more charitable works than the rest of the Royal Family. Early on in the AIDS epidemic she defied fears amongst the public by having physical contact with AIDS sufferers.

She must have valued honesty to some degree as she could not accept the deceit in her marriage to Charles…and Camilla was his mistress very early in the marriage from what I read.

Anyway, I thought there were some things to admire about her, in spite of her faults.

your mamma has a moon sign in Capricorn, so that makes her an odd Leo. Most Leos are pretty fun. *has moon in Leo*
Though your mother is fun, obviously. *lieks Regency’s mom*

oy, you should get a twitter! It is addictive! Like crack! It is just *what am I doing*
    go get one, suriously!

I could never judge Di for her divorces or having problems… lots of people are messed up, including me. It doesn’t make you a bad person. It just depends on what you do with your life experiences.
Princess Di did a lot of Charity work, particularly for children with Aids. I think she was a good person. And she is nothing like BO. I’m sorry, but I just resent that.
And as for her marketing, I don’t think it had much to do with her. The royal family is just that, royalty. Di wasn’t much older than me when she married into that fam, ily. She can’t have known what she was getting into, and I felt sorry for her….
I dunno. It’s nothing against you, Kat5 or Angie. Those were just my personal feelings.

  99. Hear you Angie. But he had been raised on decorum his whole life. Can you imagine the repression D had to endure behind closed doors.

  100. I’m going to have to pull that stupid tape out of the library and digitize it … it has me and maya and me and betty frieda and me and kate millet and a bunch of others out there… back in the day when i thought things would be better.

but anyway, that daughter in womb is now active in women’s health issues, training to be a doctor , and just told me she had problems with doing a residency at dartmouth instead of baylor or emory because she wouldn’t be able to work with a diverse enough population of women and that she really wanted to doctor poor women … and you all know she offers the full range of services, i just wish betty was around to know the bulge in my tummy turned out to be just fine after all!

  101. Ack! I’m in moderation with a horde of Obot drug reps! Offering me free drinks and babbling about brand-name benefits, none of which benefits are statistically significant.

    Your verse???

  103. I liked Diana. I like her sons and I think they embody the person she was, or at the very least, the person she was portrayed to be.

  104. afrocity: breast are for babies, and if you haven’t had one to feed yet, you don’t need to even dwell on that …

  105. I agree firelight. My thoughts exactly. I always have to try to make myself walk in another’s shoes before I judge them.

And Charles didn’t really love her.

  106. Let’s have a Diana vote! J/K… I read a book once by a female author who actually has some cred (so much, I can’t remember her name), and her thesis was that Diana had some sort of personality disorder (can’t remember the name of that either), which made her life – and that of those around her – very unhappy. ( Made perfect sense at the time.)

But then, I’m one of those who never particularly liked Jackie O, either. (What? Another famous fashion diva worshipped by the masses upon her death?) I’m awful, I know.

  107. SHV: that’s Maya Angelou’s verse, not mine

  108. dakinikat, that poem is sooo dreamy … exquisite!

  109. Thanks Afrocity. Is there a Gemini on this thread?

    Sorry…I was a science major..

  111. Dakinikat — You could sell a few downloads of that digitized tape to us PUMAs. I’m expecting you to convert it soon! Well, maybe on quarter break when you have more time.

  112. 3 Wickets — puh-leeze — Diana was raised in a very old noble family & knew the rules — she purposefully sought out Charles object: matrimony. I’m not saying she was evil or that she didn’t have her good points (looking at you Little Isis) I’m just saying I don’t buy the “hero worship” that surrounded (and still surrounds) her — she was a person with flaws — not a saint. And while her death was tragic the coverage was way, way over the top.

  113. three wickets: I’m a scorpio, no problems here 🙂

  114. I liked Jackie O. I read a biography about her by Sarah Bradford called America’s Queen.

I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to understand her better.

  115. angienc — I seldom disagree with you (and can’t believe I’m getting involved on a Diana discussion!) but Diana was responding to the entire Royalty’s own marketing machine which was working overtime to portray her as unstable and a bad mother. There were all sorts of palace ‘leaks’ (from a notoriously close-mouthed royal machinery) painting her in a bad light. Different venues but fair’s fair. Chuck was a total d*ck in many ways, the fact that going on TV with a direct (as opposed to sneaky, sidling, backstabbing) attack wasn’t one of them isn’t much.

Now that I say that, the royal P.R. machine reminds an awful lot of another one we’ve seen recently…hmmm.

I’m not saying I’d want her as my best friend, far from it, but I don’t hold her to a very high standard — her job was to be a princess — and she did princessy stuff plus a bit, that seems good enough. Unlike someone who asks for one of the greatest responsibilities in the world and then fulfills not the least bit of it.

  116. dak,

You exemplify the greatest power on earth — extraordinary motherhood. Congratulations! Could anyone have said anything else that made you more proud?

  117. Puma: you know, it’s really weird that they made this documentary, and here i was in the prime of my life and right there in my ninth month .. dancing, singing, introducing and networking about what’s the next phase in the feminist movement. wish they’d have caught me a little less preggers … i’m totally in the beached whale phase captured for posterity!

  118. Angie:

I see your point about overplayed Press coverage, but I have to still insist:
The girl was nineteen. People make stupid choices when they are young. And she was as good of a mother as she could be.
I think she was a good person, and even if the press went over the top, they at least owed it to her. They made her miserable.
    Sorry, Angie, lol….
As you can see, I am a Di fangirl.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t see her faults. Everyone has them

  119. I think I have an inherent problem with the worship of anyone. Admiration? Affection? Respect? Gratitude? Sure. But worship? Gushing? Image-based paeans? Nah. Never.

  120. “Lets talk about the sexy men of THE CONFLUENCE”.

I vote for Elderj too! Poor guy’s going to get ripped apart 🙂

And If GQ ever comes home, I vote for him too!

  121. Exactly Valhalla, thank you! You know I love you to pieces Angie! I am after all, your wife. But all married couples have disagreements, right?

*gives lots of kisses and hugs and tacos and other naughty things*

  122. Dakinkat
there is a post at no quarter about the economy that scares the hell out of me.
Maybe you could read it and help us understand what is going on.

Senator Clinton is a real lady and a person to be respected and admired. We are lucky to have her. She has taught all of us to stand up for what we believe in. Until this election cycle how many of us really thought things were getting better? Now we know they are not and how much work we still have to do. Senator Clinton’s example will help us all to do what we have to do for women.

I think of Diana as a young girl overwhelmed by circumstances.
She was between the ages of my two oldest daughters maybe that is why I always felt sorry for her.

I am a virgo that was married to a sagittarius/capricorn.
I have 1 libra daughter, 1 aries daughter, 1 gemini daughter and a gemini son.
It was never dull in my house.

  123. Dakinikat — congrats to you and yr daughter. I’ve always found that the underserved were nicer to take care of than the worried well, in the main.

  124. D’kat, you are indeed a woman of many parts (and they’re all in New Orleans, whimper).

  125. I vote angie as sexiest lady on this blog.
    Who else votes Angie?

  126. I am a Leo

  127. dak, you are amazing.

  128. Valhalla — LOL! I’m not taking anything personally so please feel free to disagree — I was sympathetic to Diana a lot with the divorce, etc. but she lost me with that tv interview — I don’t buy that she “had to respond” — it seemed very manipulative to me & that interview with those things she said about their father is out there for those boys to hear forever. (and, btw, I feel the same way about other people who get divorced & talk horribly about the ex when there are children involved — I think it is completely tacky & they should be ashamed of themselves regardless of what the other person did). I don’t know what went on behind closed doors in that or any marriage, but I tend to think both parties had their fair share of blame.

  129. Dkat — 9 mos? Ah, you must have had the “pride of pregnancy walk,” as one of my instructors called it. Always liked that way of looking at it!

Thanks for the recommendation….My impression is that she wasn’t very “bright” but was able to overcome her limitations..

  131. Little Isis, when hey met wasn’t he like 32 and she literally a 16 year old junior in high school? That’s seriously creepy.

  132. I’m a Virgo, and I’m getting dizzy.

  133. lol, Helenk.

Ohhhh, Afro, you are a Leo?
    *likes you even more now*

  134. Angie, I was working in London back when all that was happening, and I have to say, the public outpouring for D was not as media induced as it has been for the One here. It was genuine, turbulent, and overflowing. Which gets back at that question of how people in some lands still embrace their royalty so deeply. Goes way beyond anything we would feel for anyone in Hollywood for instance.

  135. I’m a political groupie. I acknowledge this. However, I’m well aware of the fact that my rock stars are not perfect. They show it every other day. I see it, I noted it, I give them a mental smack on the head. What else can I do?

  136. I vote angie!

  137. Angie is definitely the sexiest female on the Confluence.

LI, I think you might be up in the top 5. And joanie-b, from what I remember, you sure can fit up there too.

  138. Team angie!

(no false modesty for me! LOL!!!)

  139. Hey, 3Wickets – what do you think accounted for that unprecedented public display of emotion in famously buttoned down England?

  140. Hey, now I am not chopped liver ya know.

  141. I have to go with RD, because I have a dangerous thing for redheads.

  142. helen: LD’s latest?

puma: thx, she graduates from med school at the end of april and she’s an ob/gyn –completely into women’s health issues and totally dedicated to the entire spectrum of women’s well being. she just decided at like 10 that she wanted to cure women’s cancers–mostly because what I went through and then the high risk pregnancy with my second … i have to pinch myself frequently because i can’t imagine how i wound up mothering this little bodhisattva, she’s had her moments like any kid, but i can’t complain … now if i can only get her little sister on the path to happiness and self fulfillment

  143. joanie would make mincemeat out of me in a “sexy woman” contest — no doubt. She’d chew me up & spit me out like all those poor men she’s left in her wake! 😉

  144. team afrocity!! (especially with that VOICE).

  145. You are absolutely right Three Wickets.
Angie, I agree with you about involving children in divorce. That is wrong.

Yeah, Seriously, you are right. That is majorly creepy and it is no wonder it didn’t work out between them. It just goes to show, also, that the press often butters things up for the people they like.
For example, Barack and michelle going on regular “Date Nights”. Something has always felt fake about the public image of that marriage.
I mean, yeah, lets go show everyone how “in love” we are by going to a nice resteraunt where crowds of people will be following us and we will have no privacy whatsoever, just so everyone can see us and we have a nice PR moment.
Puh leaze! At least it’ll stimulate the economy.

  146. If we’re going with voices, I’m giving it to Afrocity. Lady, there oughta be a law against sounding that fantastic on air.

  147. Oh god the poor guy’s gonna die of embarassment, but my vote’s going to have to go to elderj as well.

  148. Regency — for realz — afrocity could have a real radio show with that voice — even my cousin after she listened to the first show told me how much she loved afrocity’s voice.

  149. Except for when joanie’s working too much, which has been ever since she found a job. Have I seen her since? (sniff) Seriously, the job is a good thing and we all need jobs. Several of them, the way things are going now.

  150. I know. Wait until elderj finds out about this!

  151. Well, no one is perfect Regency. The thing about our rock stars is that they are not fake and don’t pretend to be perfect. That is what makes us love them so!

Angie is definitely the sexiest female on the Confluence.

LI, I think you might be up in the top 5. And joanie-b, from what I remember, you sure can fit up there too.

    really, top five? *is flattered*
    *bats eyelashes*
Yah, Angie, I am so on your team. I think RD and Joanieb will take a close second to you though.
*is overwhelmed by sexiness on the confluence*
Is it hot in here, or just me?

  152. Ooooh, the voice. How could I forget? (smacks forehead). Definitely afrocity.

  153. You guys have gotta be kidding me.

When I was a kid we would play what “white” woman would you most want to look like.

    I always chose Ali McGraw

  154. helenK, Kat5, I’m a Virgo too, but I think a lapsed one. Beginning to worry that I may know some of you from my past. Hmm.

  155. Seriously — don’t let elderj’s modesty fool you — he will love it! (he is a capricorn after all — pretends not to “care” about such things, but secretly loves them).

  156. Regency: if daughter number 1 winds up doing residency in Houston, we’ve just GOT to get together … and i have to meet your mom and tell her she raised a jewel! You can also meet daughter #2 that is your age and hopefully she can take some notes on what it means to be a person of substance!

  157. Ditto on that Ange. Afrocity, it’s time to put that voice to work.

This is totally out of left field, but aparrently the phone sex industry is a hilarious place to work. Apparently, there are rich surgeons who spend $20,000 a month on phone sex that involves inappropriate insertion of vegetables.

  158. Kat5, very easy. Losing a close relative.

  159. LI has the most luscious and lascivious writing style, no doubt of that!

  160. afrocity — what’s wrong with Ali McGraw? I’d pick her too — not really, I would pick Ava Gardner.

  161. Afrocity has got a great voice but Angie’s was “mm mmm” too. Angie, I think I should be your “Angie” team manager. It makes sense, seeing as how I am your wife.

    Maybe Afrocity

  162. DK: If she does, we shall. She also has to tell me how hard med school is. I have yet to decide if I wanna go for broke and become a medical examiner.

  163. dakinkat@12:28a
Yes just how bad and how much more money will be needed?

Does anyone else feel that the backtrack family is as phony as a three dollar bill?
They had to make over meechell and shut her up.

  166. LI, I think the Queen must have a few issues too. You find your adult son is circling round some poor kid, “Hey that’s super” is not a normal reaction.

  169. Night, all you talented and sexy Conflucians, I must actually go do some errands before turning in. Or is it just getting too hot for me ?!

  170. I always wanted to pull off that clean, simple beauty look. The sort of woman that looks great in a soft Eileen Fisher sweater and jeans.

    My clothes style is bohemian.

  171. LI — you would be my only fan! LOL

  172. helen: a lot more and it’s bad, but again, just lay low and save if you can. unless your job is iffy, prices will come down, hopefully you don’t have to borrown $ anytime soon. if you contribute to any savings plan, keep the new contributions in something liquid like a money market fund

  176. afrocity — I’m 100% sure that you do pull off that clean, simple beauty look.

  177. Angie: Some of them like being laughed at. That’s part of the fun! Oh the things that happen there. With the vegetables. Ah, the noises! And the drugs. How does this doctor have time to practice. Once someone was playing a football game in the background during the call. Seriously, dude, you want some good times? Say bye-bye to the Bowl, mkay?

    Night: PumaInS

  178. LI, Angie and I would piss off a lot of people if we had a show. We are on our best behavior on TC.

  179. Men have some pretty weird fedishes… let me tell you.
Angie, but I would make up for any lack of fans, for my devotion.

Night Puma, you know this is getting too hot for you!

  180. the two female movie stars I admired the most were
    Susan Hayward and Rosalind Russell.

  182. I was just going to say the same thing to afrocity!

  183. LI: Kitty is quite a goddess, yes. She’d have my kitties baying at the moon.

Afro: I have to start pulling off the unmade up look because I don’t wear makeup at all. Never have. I never learned how and never really tried. But I’ve always just wanted flawless skin. I still struggle with that. As for style, I don’t have any and I’m fine with that. *mutters about wishing for smaller boobs*

  184. Afro:
So??? That is when the two of you are best! When you are being naughty!

    helenk:
You know, if anyone could even possibly play Hillary, it would have to be Merille Streep. She is my favorite actress. her and Goldie Hawn.
    Who would play Big Dawg?
    hhhmmmmm….

  185. Little Isis is gorge. as are we all on here — beauty always radiates from within — honestly, I’ve known some physically beautiful women and handsome men who turned tragically ugly in the split second it took them to open their mouths.

  186. I’m sort of hoping I’ll be reincarnated as Catherine Deneuve. Either her or Catherine Zeta-Jones.

  187. Plus the “raci st weirdo” influence for Diana’s sons is clearly not coming from her side o’the family. Little Harry was no wearing Nazi armbands and using rac ial slurs while she was around. I’m looking at you, creepy guy the Queen is married to.

  188. Regency — puhleez with the “wishing for smaller boobs” — my big chested sisters are always complaining about their boobs & I have NO sympathy! hear me? NONE!!! 🙂

  189. Meryl Streep is actually above mere mortals. She is at least a demi-god. She is precious and should be put in a bunker in the event of a national emergency.

I’ve seen only one person who could ever play Bill and I think he might be dead.

  190. Ahhh, the old Battenburg strain, Seriously. (Did I spell that right?)

  191. Angie, I have been laughed out of Eileen Fisher. You see this is where i admire Scorpio women like Julia Roberts. They are so simple and they are the sort of women that men die for.

Leo women like me, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Mae West… guys run from us.

  192. Meryl Streep would be great.

  193. Angie: Take two cups of this here. It’s yours. Free!

I want to be Sophia Loren when I grow up. Here’s hoping my face stops growing long enough to let my body catch up.

  194. Seriously — step away from criticizing Prince Philip — he’s a member of the Greek Royal family (which happens to be German, not Greek, but whatever). All the royal families in Europe has German in them, btw

And in all honesty, we don’t know what would have happened to those 2 if their mother had lived, but I think they both seem like decent kids — sure they do stupid things, etc. but I’m not ready to say the kid is an anti-semite from one drunken mistake.

  195. Oh yeah, men are just leaping over cars to get away from Halle Berry.

“No, please don’t put your hot hands on me! Torture!”

Yeah, no. They run to you; you may need to run away to escape them though.

  196. Regency:

You don’t wear make up? omg…. I am obsessed with make up. I get into brands and such… my favorite right now is urban decay. I just baught this eyeshadow pallet from them and it looks really good with this NYX eyeshadow base. And lash blast mascara, foundation, ect.
Cannot live without make up. I am obsessed.
I am also overly endowed. However, I have found that, given the right bra, large boobs can be very useful. I use mine as a sort of shelf. Like, I will wash dishes while my kitty just hangs around on my boobs, I don’t even have to hold her up because they are practically like shelves. If I have my hands too full with something at a party, I just balance a tray of veggies and wings on my boobs while I hold liters of mountain dew. It can be very economical.

Angie: Tell me about it. I am at the age where I am still learning about looks and how they are certainly not everything.

And of course you think I’m gorge! We are married. There has to bne some chemistry between us!

  197. I actually wear quite a lot of Eileen Fisher — I like classic style like that (especially for work).

Weak men always run away from strong women — same thing happens to me, and I’m aries, not leo.

  199. Regency everyone has a style. It becomes more apparent when you near your 30’s. I tried to hang with the goth kids when I was 18. It was a disaster. It took 1 month for my mom to knock some sense into me.

I mostly wear MARNI, Dries Van Noten and Comme Des Garcons. That should tell you something about my personality

I dunno who could play Big D. Someone super cute and cuddly. I love Jack Nicolson, but he is definately not attractive enough.

  201. Angie, Aries, Leo, Sagittarius- the fire signs all have man trouble

  202. Longest weekend I’ve ever worked – but stole a few minutes to stop and read Conflunces blogs – can’t miss them.

Question: your thoughts on the proposal to repeal the 22nd amendment, which limits the terms a president may serve. The proposal was put forth by Jose Serrano on 1/6/09 and goes to the Judiciary committee. Do you think it will pass?

  203. Afro…. Scorpio women are real man traps, but Leo women are too. They have a knack for being super sexy.

  206. LI: I love makeup but I don’t wear it. I own a fair amount and my favorite nameable brand is urban decay. I love Sephora and I have the money to finance the want but I just don’t do it.

I’m deceptively low-maintenance. I shower for hours (sorry, Al Gore!) and I use copious amounts of lotion to keep myself moist and soft, as well as body splash to stay sweet-smelling. Other than that, I don’t dress up much unless there’s just something I have that I want to wear. Hair is unbelievably low maint. Ponytail is my friend. I wear glasses off and on as needed. I am, what I am. You want that, good for you. I’m not an unfinished basement; you do not get to bring your own paint.

  207. Weak men always run away from strong women — same thing happens to me, and I’m aries, not leo.

These men are usually also small below the waist. small penised men tend to be bullies, researchers have found…

  208. Night, Helen.

Looking: If only it means that Bill can run again. But really, hell no. He cannot get a monopoly on the White House or this will never stop.

  209. Men have told me that I am high maintenance. I have always found that the sexist bastards think that any woman who takes care of herself expects HIM to pay for it.

I do my own mani and pedicures and facials.I love spending the time with myself. I splurg on fashion and makeup, skincare products and home furnishings.

  210. Great designers! I could never, ever carry off any of them — simple, less structured clothing works best on me, I think because I’m petite. I also avoid big prints — they always seem to overwhelm me.
I wear a lot of Eileen Fisher, Michael Kors, DKNY & DVF — I used to like Calvin Klein until I hear him say he never makes clothes for anyone over size 10 because anyone over size 10 shouldn’t wear his clothes — I’m not a size 10 but I thought that was a terribly tacky thing for him to say, so I boycott him now.

  211. angie–that guy CLEARLY has no Greek blood in him! Shouldn’t you guys be rising up and overthrowing your foreign or whatever? 🙂 Anyway, isn’t he notoriously anti-Semetic? The kids may not be lost causes, but they don’t seem to have the best influences to stay on the right track.

  212. firelight: yes, or go straight to treasury direct and just suffer through the current low, near zero returns . either that or just put it in a bank cd … the market is still searching for a bottom … it shouldn’t be much lower, but don’t take a chance right now … ignore what’s out there now, but try to protect your principal in the mean time

  213. Looking: I’d keep a good eyes on that amendment. I’ve heard it said more than once that is should be repealed that so that BO can have more time to do all that needs to be done.

Monarchy in America means somebody had better start building a cruise ship called the Juneflower; we’re heading back to England.

  214. I liked Emma Thompson when she played Hill the first time. Kristen Scott Thomas is ridiculously good in “I’ve Loved You For So Long”. Think she’d bring integrity to a Hillary part. Meryl is awesome in “Doubt” and in general, but I’m not vibing her as Hillary.

  215. LI: I love makeup but I don’t wear it. I own a fair amount and my favorite nameable brand is urban decay. I love Sephora and I have the money to finance the want but I just don’t do it.

Well, I find that to be attractive. I also take long showers… must shave everything. I like to be completely hair free. I use scented shaving cream, and after I use dove body wash I must use body butter to make my skin super soft.

I use leave in conditioner… salon products, I will not get shampoo or hair products from the grocery store, and either leave my hair curly or straighten it. I always let it air dry though, so hair is very soft. I rarely wear my glasses out, but my glasses are cool. I have green colored contacts.

I like clothes. I am a shopaholic. Shopping cheers me up. My favorite store is wet seal. I hate Hollister and Abercrombie, too preppy for my taste. But I never keep clothes I don’t wear. I don’t like to admit it, but I am fairly girly.

btw, sephora is great too, but I also like aromeliegh.

  216. lol, i must be old, i’m still into lancome

  217. Little Isis — you don’t need to tell me about big busted women — all the women in my family are in that category except me — and they all give me the same old complaints about their bosom — I’m sick to death of hearing it! LOL

I’m “high maintenance” by most men’s standards too, but you know what? I don’t need a guy who offers me LESS then what I can do for myself, so the h3ll with them.

  218. foreign overlords

  219. Thanks for answering dakinikat. I was feeling kind of bad for asking you for advice. You know, I wouldn’t ask a doctor acquaintance to diagnose my medical symptoms…I’d save it for a paid visit to an on-duty professional!

  220. and i adore armani pant suits

  221. Angie “I wear a lot of Eileen Fisher, Michael Kors, DKNY & DVF”

I cannot wear any of those. I love DVF but I am too hippy. My measurements are 34-26-37, so that is a problem.

  222. I’m sorry, but it is Meryl who must play Hillary, hands down. Maybe Peirce Brosman with his hair dyed white as Big Dawg. They went well together in Mama Mia. Or maybe I am just a musical fanatic.

Angie: I splurge also. I like the line: “Someone needs a mani/pedi/massage combo PRONTO!”

  223. firelight: it’s okay, at this point, you just need to maintain what you have … no reason to go looking for bargains unless you’re warren buffett

  224. 3 Wick: Oh man, Kristen Scott Thomas would be perfect. I don’t know about Emma, even though I bow down at her wonderful feet. She gives off a very quirky vibe that doesn’t always jibe with the Hillary I (think I) know. Then again, I’ve never actually watched all of Primary Colors so I can’t say. As for Meryl, I’m not sure she even likes Hill enough to play her in a movie despite the fact she was slotted to play the first female president in the movie “First Man,” which never actually came out. (Run on sentences are fun.)

  225. Angie: I agree with you! I want to settle for a man who is worth my friggen time!

  226. Looking — I heard about that too & it is disgusting — if George Washington says that no man should have more then 2 terms as President, that is good enough for me. And yes, Obama I’m talking to you: you ain’t Lincoln & you ain’t Washington.

Any change to the Constitution takes a 2/3 vote — very, very difficult to get, so the Congress better not f*ck this up.

  227. looking for integrity, on January 19th, 2009 at 12:54 am Said:

Question: your thoughts on the proposal to repeal the 22nd amendment, which limits the terms a president may serve. The proposal was put forth by Jose Serrano on 1/6/09 and goes to the Judiciary committee. Do you think it will pass?

    ******************************************************************************

No, and this is not the first time it’s been pushed since the 22nd amendment was enacted. Ronald Raygun was a strong proponent of unlimited terms, although he claimed he wouldn’t run for a third term. One of the strongest opponents to ronnie’s suggestion was the late William F. Buckley and whatever your opinion of Buckley may be, he was one smart cookie.

Nope, there will be no repeal of the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America if for no other reason than that even Mr. Obama’s most ardent democratic admirers in the House and Senate realize unlimited term limits on the potus is bad for business and their future aspirations.

  228. Meryl sort of looks like Hillary.

  229. I do like Pringle, Missoni and Stella McCartney

  230. omg…
there are actually people who are trying to say that Obama should have more than two terms in office? You must be kidding. They have no proof that he would even make a good President!

  231. Dakinikat, my OC parents are concerned about their brokerage acct at Merril, because BofA is now taking big handouts from Tarp. Should I be researching options for them to move the acct, most fixed income?

  232. And let me add — the Obots have been screaming for more than a year that electing Obama would solve all of our problems & NOW they want to say he needs more than 2 terms? F*CK THEM. Leave the Constitution alone.

  233. Reg–I’d like to think they’ll overplay their hand at some point–but I just don’t know anymore.

  234. ooer!
I am missing the Golden Girls!

  235. I like Target and Walmart.

  236. I like Missoni but don’t wear it because of the patterns (makes me look short). Stella McCartney is good. Not really familiar with Pringle — I’ll have to check it out.

  237. three wickets: Yes, you should. Every one is different but at their stage, really maintaining their assets is probably key, i’m not a financial planner but unless you’re really young or wealthy and can last this roller coaster out, i’d look for safety

  238. There was this store in New Orleans that carried all the best designers at seriously reduced prices — of course they were “last season” but what did I care — I was in New Orleans, we were always a season behind anyway! LOL I miss that store.

  239. meryl is beautiful enough to handle the haircut. Not everyone can pull off the look.

  240. I like Target and Walmart.

So do I1 I shop there, and other places but I always have to but on clearance if I’m not getting pants or a skirt or a purse.

  241. I agree, Seriously.

  242. Afrocity beauty regime

    Cleanse with
DDF skin brightening cleanser or FOR BROWN Skin Rx for Brown Skin Bright and Even Exfoliating Cleanser

pat DDF eye cream around eyes (day and night)

daytime: Murad Essential-C® Day Moisture SPF 15
nighttime: DDF ddf glycolic exfoliating moisturizer

Once a week: exfoliate and steam face.
Once a week: Make a mask of raw egg white for oily skin
or egg yolk for dry skin.

  243. Regency — shop the sales — the high end stores & big department stores always have great sales (like 75% off) at the end of the season — I have no problem waiting for the sale because I always figure if it isn’t there when it goes on sale it wasn’t meant for me.

  244. well, if we are giving away beauty regimes — I use the Obagi skin care line. I think it is really good.

  245. Yes, sales are my best friend. But I usually don’t shop department stores. Not quirky enough for me.

  246. Angie do you have to go to a dermatologist to get that?

  247. Obagi is great!

  248. LI: that depends on the department store. Sounds like you need a Barney’s NYC, Louie of Boston, Henri Bendels, Jeffrey or Bergdorf Goodman

  249. Little Isis — I know what you mean — you are still young & can & should be adventurous — now that I’m older I tend to buy clothing with classic lines (but NOT dowdy — I never wear dowdy things).

  250. Meryl is lovely. Who else could pull of that white shortcut she had in Devil?

  251. There is that said day when you go to the juniors department and you know that you are no longer allowed in “forever 21” land.

  252. Thanks dakinikat. Still can’t believe you hung out with all those amazing people.

Meryl can play anyone or anything she want. She’s that good. But the audience, at least American, have come to view her roles as women with hard strong edges, which may or may not be fair given Hollowood’s own problem with misogyny. But I felt it was always the kind, caring, softer side of Hill that people and the dupid media chose to overlook. Other actresses, especially ones who don’t come with prepackaged images, might fair better. Movies though are two hours long. Think a book would always do more justice for Hill.

  253. afrocity — I did start Obagi from my dermatologist, but there are places on line you can buy everything except for the Retin A you need to mix with step 5 (“blender”) that you use at night — you need to go to the dermatologist to buy the Retin A (or go to Mexico where you can get a giant tube for $20 — I buy one every year when I go to Cabo in the summer).

  254. what about Tea Leoni?

  255. Wickets: I’m inspired to take this documentary off of vhs ( and actually it was in an older format first than that) and put it on cdrom .. when i do that, i’ll put it up here 🙂 I’m all nostalgic about the good ol’ days for some reason. probably because i’m requestioning the feminist agenda again.

and i have to head for bed, way to late, and way too much stuff to accomplish in this month!

    niterz e1!

  256. Does retinol A really make u look younger? I have never tried it.

  257. afrocity: yes!

  258. Ha! No more Forever 21 land for me! LOL But really, women who dress “too young” always end up looking older imo. I don’t want to be the 50 year old in the gold miniskirt & tub top — some things ONLY look good on people 25 and under.

  259. What aboout Kohl’s? Everytime I go in there, they’re always having massive sales (at least in Juniors, I can’t vouch for the rest of the store). If you wear t-shirts and stuff like that mostly, that’s a really good place to go, they’re always like $2.

  260. I see your point Three Wickets. I think Hollywood, as it is now (mysoginistic and juvenile, with all male directors), is just not worthy of a real Clinton movie. I think they were thinking about making one about poor Susan McDougal, but it simply wasn’t CDS enough, so it never got off of the ground.
It’s like, just because a woman is strong and exceptional, she has to be a mean. And just because a woman is tough and beautiful, she has to be a bimbo.
Hillary and Sarah folks, as told by the Media.

Little Isis — I know what you mean — you are still young & can & should be adventurous — now that I’m older I tend to buy clothing with classic lines (but NOT dowdy — I never wear dowdy things).

I like wearing flashy stuff, sort of. But I also like being classy, once in a while. I don’t have a definite style at this point, but people who know me really well know what I will and won’t wear.

  261. afrocity — nothing works like Retin A — which is what I use, not retinol A (I don’t really know if there is a difference, but I think retinol A is ‘over the counter” here, retin A is prescription).

  262. Angie or young girls wearing designers that are too sophisticated for their age. The Olsen Twins come to mind. A Chanel Suit is too weighty for a 21 year old. Katie Holmes is another one trying to look so grown up too fast.

  263. Night, DK.

  264. Seriously:

Oh, I actually really love kohls. that’s one department store I always like to hang out at. And yes, the sales are magnificent.

  265. afrocity — true — Katie Holmes looks like she is 40, imo. It would be different if it was a chanel suit jacket with jeans — not the whole suit.

  266. night dakinikat!

  267. night, Dak!

  268. US Magazine once slammed halle for wearing a football shirt. Shut up, US magazine–she looked fine.

  269. I also use Fat Girl Slim by Bliss and a caffeine anti-cellulite cream at night followed by a 20 minute thigh massage to circulate my blood vessels (reduces cellulite)

  270. Ok, I’m going to bed — I have a lot of work to do tomorrow (yes, I’ve wasted the entire weekend not doing all the work I have to do). So, good night all!!

Night Little Isis, Regency, Seriously & afrocity!!

  271. Good night angie, i am bushed too.
    Holiday for me.

  272. yah… suppose Id’ better go to sleep too. Or at least watch golden girls!

    Night everyone!

Regency, don’t forget to get a twitter!

  273. Good night everyone. I’ve wasted a month and a half. Now it’s time for school again.

  274. Boy you women sure are interesting to read when there’s no mens around.

“Let’s talk about the men of the Confluence.”

    “There aren’t any.”

    Pfffffffftttt!!!

  275. Got a twitter, a just seems to be twitted up. Not my bad.

  276. Hey Fredster. 🙂

  277. Happy Martin Luther King Day to all, and to all a good night.

  278. oh, I was bored and could not sleep. Regency, you got a twitter???
    *is excited*
plez, tell me your identity so I will follow!

  279. Breaking into high society talk here to say Meryl played Hillary in Devil Wears Prada which was based on Hillary then Hillary used the Devil Wears Prada hit song, KT Tunstall’s Suddenly I See, as her campaign song. Great feminist movie.

May 18, 2007: KT Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See” and U2’s “Beautiful Day” are the frontrunners for the campaign song to Hilary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, it has been revealed. U2 in fact have two songs in the running, with “City Of Blinding Lights” also on the shortlist, alongside tracks by the Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain and The Temptations. The former first lady is asking her voters to select which song they thing she should use as a backdrop to her four-month campaign, via hillaryclinton.com. The list of songs are:

U2 – “City Of Blinding Lights”
    U2 – “Beautiful Day”
KT Tunstall – “Suddenly I See”
    Smash Mouth – “I”m A Believer”
    The Temptations – “Get Ready”
Dixie Chicks – “Ready To Run”
Shania Twain – “Rock This Country!”
Jesus Jones – “Right Here, Right Now”
The Staple Singers – “I”ll Take You There”

    *tears*

  280. Of course, Obama stole her ideas and used Beautiful Day and City of Blinding Lights in Denver.

Four-month campaign!? That’s right because she knew she had it wrapped up without the caucus fraud and fetishization of teh pledged delegate math.

    The horror, the horror.

  281. The book is based on Anna Wintour but Meryl said she channeled Hillary in the movie because her character was American.

  282. LI: I’m Regencyg.

  283. Meryl as Hillary is sort of awesome. *is happier now*

  284. damn i love to talk about fashion. i am REALLY obsessed with anne fontaine right now….

and i think cate blanchett would make a smashing “young” hillary
