One is not required to bomb hospitals, to torture, or to engage in mass killing of civilians when one is a chief of state. “My favorite war criminal did less war crimes than your war criminal,” is not a defense. That people feel the need to defend those who do such things when in power […]

Not bad for a few bitter knitters.  Here’s a song dedication to the little cheeto and all the obsessed PUMA haters:

59 Responses

  1. That’s singer/songwriter Taylor Swift, who at the ripe old age of 18 has been winning awards and selling CD’s for two years.

  2. I wanted to do “How Do You Like Me Now?” but I couldn’t find an embeddable version

  3. Wasn’t she with Hillary and Bill at the ball-dropping ceremony in Times Square this year?

  4. I’m knitting them all scarfs for them to choke on.

  5. and there’s a lot of them around to burn – the Iranians started it already

  6. Yeay!!!!! 5 more!
Now back to my knitting, as Rahm Emanuel said I am bound to…

  7. I coulda done this one:

  8. and, might I observe — it is going to cost $150 million to try to make this empty suit look presidential — fitting as it cost almost a billion for him to steal the primary and “win” the election in a year where Mickey Mouse would have won against the Republican candidate.

  9. Hey, why am I in moderation?

  10. I hope some of those five million are from HILLARY

    I dew

  11. Um, why are racing from thread to thread? Did I miss the memo (again), myiq?

  12. I am watching Fox and stupid Geraldo just said that Obama descended from slaves.

    Great just make ANYTHING up.

  13. I almost forgot:

For all you lurking PUMA-obsessed morons:

    ‹^› ‹(•¿•)› ‹^›

  14. Good grief. We’re really going to have to put our heads in the sand the next three days. The NYTimes Sunday crossword puzzle – the answer to the 9 starred clues all contain five letters in common . . .

    O – B – A – M – A

  15. This is my song to the Obots:

    embedding disabled (with stupid start):

  16. Afrocity:

If you go back far enough all of us probably have some ancestors that were slaves.

  17. The country has lost its collective mind. I don’t get it; I really don’t.

  18. angie:

Let everyone else have a turn!

  19. afrocity — maybe he meant descended from slave traders — ’cause that is exactly what his ancestors were.

  20. excellent angienc2!

  21. birdgal:

That should be the PUMA motto:

    “We don’t get it.”

  22. myiq — you don’t have to post them but that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop linking to them! 🙂

  23. econsmed — glad you like it! I love Beck myself — too bad he is a member of the CO$

  24. Of course it’s costing $150,000,000 (in addition to $700,000,000 he spent on the campaign) to make this guy look Presidential. Computer generated special effects are very expensive!!

  25. yyyyeaaaarrrrgh!!!
I do have to check myself at times. The other world is so certain and celebratory and I feel disillusioned and even a little heartbroken. I wonder if it’s me. I really disliked Bush and felt so certain of my certainty. And now I see that I was part of a mob – – hating and spinning to demonize Bush. I’m by no means claiming Bush hasn’t done a horrible job. I just don’t trust or respect the opposition now either.
It leaves me incredibly disoriented. And I don’t want to become another hating freak. But I watch myself tending that way with Obama. I don’t know what to trust at times. Y’all you know what I mean?

  26. Afrocity, it is all drooling drivel at this point …….. I wish you could come stay with me at the beach ….

  27. afrocity: i can’t believe that ! he’s descended from slave owners and then, in africa, enslavers and traders … he’s about as far from most black american’s experience as caroline kennedy is

  28. sarah:

Many of us discovered to our chagrin that just because someone hated Bush like us didn’t mean they were our friends.

  29. Are the inaugural balls too big ??
    warning this is bad …

  30. dakinkat:

Uh, CK is probably closer, because the Irish were basically slaves in the British Empire.

  31. as soon as I get my youngest somewhere near a self-sustaining life, I’m taking up the offer from several third world nations to come straighten out their lives and leaving this mess behind, that’s all i gottta say

  32. Swannie:

    Big Balls?:

  33. Guarantee you my life has been closer to the experience of the ‘average’ black American than Barky’s ever has been. If I read one more time about how hard he had it growing up and how much he’s sacrificed for this country…. Aaarrrgh! How many idiots can one country contain without simply imploding from lack of oxygen?

  34. I have a pair of boots like that

  35. Can I come with, D’kat?

  36. Congratulations RD – you done good!

  37. dakinikat — Well, I’m not leaving out Greece as a possibility — my house (ok, my parent’s house — but I’m their heir) there is paid off. I can teach English if worse comes to worse. But I’ll stick it out here for at least 2 more years — the bankruptcy filings are only going to go up.

  38. myiq2xu: in terms of my genes, i’m both irish and english, and I got over it, in terms of my beliefs, you take rebirth based on your karma, so chances are if you were an evil slave owner in one life time, you either went to a hell realm directly or came back as an incredibly battered slave …so either way, my paradigm, is just sheesh, this is your life time now, get over THAT!

  39. angie: a lot of my greek friends with parents born in greece are actually doing the dual citizenship thing …

Lama’s got me on the fast track in Nepal

  40. I know this song has been brought up here before. BUT, I get SO emooootional when I hear it now worse than ever. Who would have thunk that I would direct this song to the whole damn party that I supported????

  41. Bwaahhaa myiq…

    perfect !!!!

  42. dakinikat — I’m ahead of them — I was born in Athens, so I was born with dual citizenship — I have an EU & a US passport.

  43. Kat5: you can come, it’s looking like a farm and school for the Sherpas in Nepal is top on the list … any time!

  44. and five million hits, RD, wow, that’s just amazing … congratz!

  45. Word History: The derivation of the word slave encapsulates a bit of European history and explains why the two words slaves and Slavs are so similar; they are, in fact, historically identical. The word slave first appears in English around 1290, spelled sclave. The spelling is based on Old French esclave from Medieval Latin sclavus, “Slav, slave,” first recorded around 800. Sclavus comes from Byzantine Greek sklabos (pronounced sklävōs) “Slav,” which appears around 580. Sklavos approximates the Slavs’ own name for themselves, the Slověnci, surviving in English Slovene and Slovenian. The spelling of English slave, closer to its original Slavic form, first appears in English in 1538. Slavs became slaves around the beginning of the ninth century when the Holy Roman Empire tried to stabilize a German-Slav frontier. By the 12th century stabilization had given way to wars of expansion and extermination that did not end until the Poles crushed the Teutonic Knights at Grunwald in 1410. · As far as the Slavs’ own self-designation goes, its meaning is, understandably, better than “slave”; it comes from the Indo-European root *kleu-, whose basic meaning is “to hear” and occurs in many derivatives meaning “renown, fame.” The Slavs are thus “the famous people.” Slavic names ending in -slav incorporate the same word, such as Czech Bohu-slav, “God’s fame,” Russian Msti-slav, “vengeful fame,” and Polish Stani-slaw, “famous for withstanding (enemies).”

    slave (n.)

c.1290, “person who is the property of another,” from O.Fr. esclave, from M.L. Sclavus “slave” (cf. It. schiavo, Fr. esclave, Sp. esclavo), originally “Slav” (see Slav), so called because of the many Slavs sold into slavery by conquering peoples.
“This sense development arose in the consequence of the wars waged by Otto the Great and his successors against the Slavs, a great number of whom they took captive and sold into slavery.” [Klein]
O.E. Wealh “Briton” also began to be used in the sense of “serf, slave” c.850; and Skt. dasa-, which can mean “slave,” is apparently connected to dasyu- “pre-Aryan inhabitant of India.” More common O.E. words for slave were þeow (related to þeowian “to serve”) and þræl (see thrall). The Slavic words for “slave” (Rus. rab, Serbo-Croatian rob, O.C.S. rabu) are from O.Slav. *orbu, from the PIE base *orbh- (also source of orphan) the ground sense of which seems to be “thing that changes allegiance” (in the case of the slave, from himself to his master). The Slavic word is also the source of robot. Applied to devices from 1904, especially those which are controlled by others (cf. slave jib in sailing, similarly of locomotives, flash bulbs, amplifiers). Slavery is from 1551; slavish is attested from 1565; in the sense of “servilely imitative” it is from 1753. slave-driver is attested from 1807. In U.S. history, slavocracy “the political dominance of slave-owners” is attested from 1840.
