Senate Confirmation Hearing Wrap-up

The best and brightest

"Smart Power"

The last thread is full, keep going here

  1. And look at the smile over her right shoulder, too.

    What a great picture.

    I love you Hillary!!!!!!

  2. The last thread is crashing for me before I can even open it up. I wish we could find out what type of links cause the crashes and prohibit people from using them.

  3. What a great pleasure to listen to a thoughtful leader who is also a skillful politician. Being a skillful politician is a good thing if one is a politician, but to combine that with depth and knowledge, wisdom and experience. At her confirmation hearings today, Hillary Rodham Clinton began recasting the face of America around the world – and it will be her work that does it – hers, not anybody else’s.

If the world is a bit safer now and in the weeks and months to come it will be because we have a true leader as Secretary of State.

I don’t want to repeat the link, (don’t want to cause crashing), but some more measured, albeit brief thoughts are up at Heidi Li’s Potpourri.

  4. Yeah, I see the future over Hillary’s right shoulder. Man, that would be beautiful. More Clintons to torment the CDS-ers. I’d love to hear them do gymnastics to associate Chelsea with Vince Foster and Whitewater.

  5. I wish she were being inaugurated instead of Bzero the clown

  6. lolololololol…..

I saw some crazed CDSers try to say that Big Dawg was sterile and that Chelsea is really Vince Foster’s child.

You would not believe some of the sh*t these folks come up with.

  7. And, may I just add, that while Richardson has been getting kicked out of town, and the econ boyz are reintroducing a modified version of Reaganomics, and the Obama team is telling us about the dog they are picking and whether the president-elect’s mother-in-law is coming to live with the family, it is clear that Senator Clinton has been doing what she has always done: studying for her new mission, consulting and conferring so she can get down to work as smoothly as possible.

I’m so proud of the candidate for whom I gave my all.

  8. Beautiful pic!

  9. I just wish BO had to face some ridiculous questioning. Instead of inferring that a charitable organization is a nefarious association, they could be asking him about all his real nefarious associations.

  10. That’s our girl. She was amazing today in spite of Vitter’s b.s. Did you see he was still showing people his posters after Hillary was gone? Enough with that.

Heidi, I just wanted to tell you that your post was fantastic. I never even noticed her saying that. For the first time, on a greater scale, Hillary is Bill’s equal. She is the government official and he is the spouse. That is phenomenal.

  11. I wish she were being inaugurated instead of Bzero the clown

You and possibly over half the country, particularly today.

I think public trust in media is somewhere at 18%, the last time I checked

  12. The indignation over disclosing the donors to CGI, when CGI donors have always been public, was especially bizarre.

Official: Geithner did not pay personal taxes

President-elect Barack Obama’s choice to run the Treasury Department and lead the economic rescue effort disclosed to senators Tuesday that he failed to pay $34,000 in taxes from 2001 to 2004, a last-minute complication in an otherwise smooth path to confirmation.

Timothy Geithner paid most of the past-due taxes days before Obama announced his nomination in November, an Obama transition official said. The unpaid taxes were discovered by Obama’s transition team while investigating Geithner’s background, the official said.

The transition official requested anonymity because the source was not authorized to discuss Geithner’s situation.

Obama reiterated his support Tuesday for Geithner as senators who are considering the appointment quizzed Geithner behind closed doors.

  14. Thank you, Regency. You know I value your opinion greatly.

  15. Chelsea looks just like her parents so that’d be a hard needle to thread.

  16. LI:

Your kitty will be all better in a day or two.

  17. Sure, Chelsea resembles Vince. Not!

  18. Regency says: “Heidi, I just wanted to tell you that your post was fantastic. I never even noticed her saying that. For the first time, on a greater scale, Hillary is Bill’s equal. She is the government official and he is the spouse. That is phenomenal.”

Bill is a true feminist, as is Todd Palin.

  19. *snort* Geithner’s a bad boy.

  20. Heidi, I just wanted to tell you that your post was fantastic. I never even noticed her saying that. For the first time, on a greater scale, Hillary is Bill’s equal. She is the government official and he is the spouse. That is phenomenal.

She was always his equal. But today she was his better.

  21. Our best buds Nancy and Harry will be on at 5 to discuss the stimulus package. Prepare your sock balls for throwing.

  22. Thanks everyone for the great commentary. It was almost like I was there. You all do a much better job than the MSM!

  25. LI: I’ll give ya that one, for real.

  26. Thanks for the live blogging — I don’t watch tv and don’t have high speed internet. Which might be a good thing — because I’d probably throw the tv out the window anyway — Sen. Vitter what a jerk!

Obama would NEVER have survived this — HE has NEVER ever been questioned and really vetted. He scares the hell out of me — he is a National Security risk.

I have zero respect for the Dem leadership and even less respect for the G0P leadership.

It was great to read the remarks about the Senator who had the guts to defend the Clinton Foundation and respond to the smears by the NYT (when is that damned waste of trees going to go belly up?)

THANK YOU GANG — FOR A FINE/GREAT/INSIGHTFUL blogging job.

    Sure, Chelsea resembles Vince. Not!

I know, I just called the vet and she told me to calm down. I am just letting my kitty sleep. I am still upset, but breathing a little easier.

Well, I guess a psycho’s argument would be, Chelsea is such a beautiful, spitting image of her mother, that you could hardly tell if she looked like Bill or not. I went to their website and they were trying to find Chelsea’s REAL father (because allegedly, Hillary and Bill just went around sleeping with everyone) and they had photos of her next to Vince Foster.

And then this real cook said that Webb Hubbel was Chelsea’s Father, because Webb was Hillary’s FB….

It was actually really hilarious to read. I spent a whole night reading CDS once when I couldn’t sleep on the internets, it was just so entertaining, time flew by and before I knew it it was dawn!

  28. Regency — you took the words out of my mouth — while I can definitely see her mother in her, Chelsea looks so much like Bill that such a rumor is preposterous even by Obot standards.

Geithner — well, well, well — I wonder if the msm is going to go insane over those back taxes like they did for Joe the Plumber? pfft. I bet Geithner’s name isn’t even Tim — I bet it’s Timothy!

  29. Hillary Clinton is simply the best, better than all the rest.

  30. I really appreciate Menendez calling out Lugar and Vitter on their questioning. He was dead-on and Kerry was full of it.

  31. I’m with Northwest rain — thank you all for covering this hearing.

  32. Bill is a true feminist, as is Todd Palin.

LI: I’ll give ya that one, for real.

Bill and Todd are a lot alike. They are both so darned cute! Like Teddy bears. And they were both geeks when they were younger (later turned hotties).

Big Dawg said he admired Todd’s one armed snow machine race. I bet they would be pals. Like SOS Hillary and sarah would be huge pals.

  33. And they were both geeks when they were younger (later turned hotties).

    That’s the truth.

  34. For those interested, General Clark was on Ed Schultz Show this morning talking about Hillary as SoS, among other things.

Securing America has the audio clip. Transcript will be up later.

  35. Wow, if it is ok for the TS to do it, then I’m not paying my taxes either!

  36. Chels and Hill tend to make the same expressions and use the same mannerism. They wave at people from a distant with that wave and point thing. Yknow “Hey, girl, hey!” Chelsea does the bitter Proud Bill face just like her father. When she was a baby, she looked just like little Bill. She gets the wavy hair from the Clinton side but the blond from the Rodham side. She has her mother’s eyes but her father cheeks. She got Bill’s build.

I’ve given this thought because I’m too lazy to do much else.

  37. I really appreciate Menendez calling out Lugar and Vitter on their questioning. He was dead-on and Kerry was full of it.

So did I. I just could not believe the incredibly ridiculous fuss they were making over this. It is such an amazing foundation that has helped millions of people, and leave it to CDSers to turn it into some nefarious criminal deal. It infuriates me, and people actually believe their BS.

I was just so proud of Hillary. I mean, the sly look she gave vidder after he said all of that nasty stuff. If it were me, I couldn’t keep a straight face in front of him because I would just be imagining him naked in a daiper the whole time.
I think that is what her secretive smile was all about.

  38. CBS radio says Hillary “breezed through” her hearing.

    No kidding.

  39. Plural, all six or seven hours of it.

When she was younger she really resembled Bill. But as she grows older she looks and sounds almost exactly like Hillary.

I bet if you had a time machine and got a twenty eight year old Hillary with Chelsea’s hair length and make up and a lack of googly glasses, you couldn’t tell the two of them apart. They would be like twins, and they would sound exactly the same too.

Chelsea smiles the same way Hillary does too. So she resembles her very much. the sort of private, secretive smile that makes their cheeks curve and look real cute.

  41. David Vitter talking about the appearance of impropriety is like Quasimodo asking, “How’s my hair?”

  42. LI: do you mean Vitter of LA? That pompous hypocrite?

google David Vitter and diapers and see the results.

Of course Hillary could have tried to get the word hooker or prostitute in there too.

  43. These things are partly endurance contests, but she’s long used to that.

  44. I’m so ticked that Charter here doesn’t offer CSPAN 2 on regular cable.

  45. From the previous thread.

LI said: “She is the first real pet I ever had.”

You will have many wonderful adventures with her. I’ve had a few pets and I still get emotional. Yesterday as the vet took my cat into another room for a blood sample, I said, “Don’t you want me to be with him?” She looked down at my cat and said, “Mommy’s worried about you.”

    Your kitty will recover beautifully.

This. Yes. I was noting that when I saw a pic of her at BP today. They had nearly the same smile. *squeezes cheeks* They really are cute. As someone who gets the whole, you look just like your mother ( and I do, my father too) all the time, I can relate.

I would have been giggling all through that hearing, trying not to imagine him in a diaper, as I said.

  48. Oops! I see you mentioned it. I’m just trying to catch up on all the posts.

  49. Obie’s threatening a veto.

  50. Why is it that everytime I see her or hear her speak, I just want to start crying? I know some might think it is sadness, but seeing a brilliant, beautiful woman makes me feel so damn proud. This election and the misogyny has left me bruised and wounded and Hillary lets me know that even though we were robbed, somebody is out there that still gives a damn. I guess I am being all hokey again, so I am gonna go lurk and cry some more.

  51. Thanks so much purplefinn. It is so hard to see her like this. The antibiotics are making her get those third eyelid flap things and it is really causing me a lot of anxiety. My poor baby. She is so uncomfortable.

She really is the best kitty in the whole world. She is beautiful , with sleek black fur and golden eyes and a white tuft on her chest.

This. Yes. I was noting that when I saw a pic of her at BP today. They had nearly the same smile. *squeezes cheeks* They really are cute. As someone who gets the whole, you look just like your mother ( and I do, my father too) all the time, I can relate.

same here. My granny always tells me how much she hates me because I look like my dad.

Chelsea is really freaking gorgeous, like her ma.

  52. TheRealKim – Hillary makes being 60+ look cool.

  53. TRK: No need to lurk. We all love her. She gives us pride and joy and fuzzy feelings. (Not the house dropping kind.)

  54. Ah, the “white tuft” will get you every time.

  55. It’s all right RealKim.

    We were robbed, you’re right.

  56. Hillary makes Pantsuits and Wonkiness hawt.

  57. purplefinn:

I know, she is so vute/. Everytime I see her I have to snuggle her. Even if she yowls in protest.

  58. LI: Your cat looks like my kitten Peng but with less white. Peng is black with white boots and a white vest extending up to her bottom…lip(?)

  59. AAAAACCCCCCCCKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I MISSED THE CONFIRMATION HEARING!!!!!!!!!!

Oh hey guys!! Yep – checking in to read the live blog – THANK YOU.

From your comments & reading Hillary’s opening statement, she was as usual – THE MOST QUALIFIED TO LEAD THIS COUNTRY.

And I’m with Heidi Li (hey Lady Li!), I don’t regret a DAMN SECOND of supporting her.

That’s the difference between the Hillary voter and Obama-loons. We don’t play with Clinton Action figures walking up a mock Lincoln Memorial. We listen to her words, see what she has to say & how she plans to do it, as we do with every public official.

WE DID NOT KILL CRITICAL THINKING, we invoke it. That was the death of the multi-million page view mega-liberal blogs. We are self-contained and independent to our opinions. YAY US!

Go’head Hillary!!!!!!!!!!! Kill that panel with your X-Ray knowledge! I must admit, I like Hillary a helluva lot more as S.O.S. (a cryptic “help!”) than VP. She’s going to kick more ass that way. And I’m SMILING.

  60. It sounds silly but I love coming here for the Hillary love fest. Today I feel optimistic for the first time in a long while.

  61. I was in transit all day, so I had to break my NPR boycott to listen. I’m torn between anger and sadness that I am not celebrating this brilliant woman’s inauguration next week, and pride and live for her as a female representative of this country. She just blows me away.

  62. love for her…not live.

  63. Regency, on January 13th, 2009 at 5:17 pm Said:

Hillary makes Pantsuits and Wonkiness hawt.

Trudat. But I get her tonight Regency, because Isis needs soothing Hillary love for her bandaged loins.

And I need me some Hawt/SOS Hillary Lovin’.

  64. DJ: I know the feeling. SOmetimes you just wanna be able to adore somebody–and that’s okay.

    SM: *tackles you* Hi!

  65. Today I feel optimistic for the first time in a long while.

That’s the way I feel, too. She makes me so proud and gives off such positive energy.

  66. Listening to her made me feel good for this country. I feel safer just knowing she is on the job 24/7. Her command of detail, pragmatic approach to solving problems, openness and respect for other opinions and ideas, and stamina are incomparable. I admired the way she spoke to the other Senators–with graciousness and honesty. I can see why she has been so successful working across the aisle, because she honors them even if she disagrees with them, and it’s not phony pandering.

  67. It is so hard to see my kitty in pain, Reg. Did you ever have to get Peng fixed?

    SM:

So true. I have missed her wonkiness these past few months. How better it makes me feel

  68. Regency and Isis: WASN’T SHE FABULOUS?!?!?!?!

    My fellow HC groupies…

  69. Regency!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ouch! Ouch! My Liver! (lol!)

Happy to be back. I have to work on “work” in about an hour, so I decided to check in.

  70. Hillary is always a class act. Her expertise is always evident. But I get so enraged over comments like two different CSPAN callers–one said Hillary would “have Madeline Albright to help her” and another said she “would have Bill to help her.” Sheesh! No one would say anything like that about a male candidate. She is able to carry out the job herself without leaning on anyone’s shoulder. One caller was female, of course.
And it is a crime that HRC is not the president. And she would not need to lean on Bill if she were.

  71. right on, fif

I’ll sleep better at night knowing Obama will be passing the phone to Hill.

  72. LI: You can have her. I have to work on something for the radio show tomorrow night.

  73. WE DID NOT KILL CRITICAL THINKING, we invoke it.

SM: that’s exactly WHY we love her. The depth and breadth of her knowledge is awe-inspiring to watch. I don’t get jazzed about “cool” sayings, hip friends, and fashionable but empty images like his plane, clothes, seals, etc. Give me in-depth wonkiness and I swoon!

  74. fif:

There is nothing even remotely or thinkably phony about our Pantsuity girl. Her knowledge is like an ocean. Vast and limitless. She is so honest, and she respects people even if they don’e respect her. She is a model of behavior and grace.

  75. just catching up on the live blog comments, LMAO!

  76. Well I guess our girl made us proud! glad to see it!Now if we could hold a puma confirmation hearing with Mr Pampers….I would volenteer to be the chairperson of the Committee to confirm the Office of the Pampers elect.

  77. Regency, on January 13th, 2009 at 5:24 pm Said:

LI: You can have her. I have to work on something for the radio show tomorrow night.

ooer. okay, I will send you the stuff you needed from me

  78. Why is it that everytime I see her or hear her speak, I just want to start crying?

RealKim: That’s exactly how I feel, and I do cry. I wonder if I’ll just keep crying, because I can’t imagine ever feeling ok about what was lost. Seeing her perform as she does only reminds me, and confirms it.

  79. When is the confirmation official?

We have to celebrate-the deranged Obots will have to eat poop.

  80. LI: I’m an irresponsible (broke) parent. My cats are outdoorsy so I don’t do, well, anything with them. They live and die on their instincts. It breaks my heart often but they aren’t people animals anymore. (Haven’t had “pets” in years. They’re strays that just live on my porch.)

SM: Lightly pats liver. Sorry about that. I’m very enthusiastic..I’m glad to have you back for as long as you’ve got to spare. Pull up a futon!

Fif:She was lovely and charming and wonky and brilliant. And most espcially FABULOUSsssss.

  81. Now I have competing images..PE pampers and Sen. pampers (Vitters)

  82. YAY, Fuzzy!

    *waves happily to Catarina*

  83. She is so honest, and she respects people even if they don’e respect her. She is a model of behavior and grace.

LI: it’s so true–how does she do it? I was listening in the car, and when Vitter (sp?)/Vidder started giving her a hard time, I immediately lose my temper and start swearing at him. She is so centered and grounded. One of the Senators said “it was her time.” He has no idea…

  84. The vote is Thursday. If all goes to plan, we shall have our new Secretary of State-Elect (or something)

  85. oh, it is okay Regency. That is why I am so upset about Isis. If anything happened to her I would just….

    OMG

  86. Cat: they are supposed to vote on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday (after more questions submitted by noon tomorrow), but she can’t be sworn in until BO is inaugurated next Tuesday, so they expect it to be next Tuesday afternoon/Wed.

  87. Hi LI
    *waves back*

don’t worry, the kitty will be ok. makes me crazy too when my kitties are sick.
maybe tmrw a little catnip treat?
for the cat, not you 😉

  88. I saw the end, but was that Clinton’s confirmation hearing or an off Broadway one man show starring John Kerry?

  89. Fif: exactly. Have you ever seen a gal as strong as her? It’s why I don’t get CDS. How can you look at her and Big Dawg and not simply love them and want to snuggle them endlessly?
How can people have so much hatred in their hearts for no reason at all?
    makes me sad, you know?

  90. Tank you Cat. Yes, mayhbe I will give her catnip, if she is up to having some
    *sniffs*

  91. DJ: Think Baby versus Fetishist.

Fif: I lost my ever-loving temper when Vitter started acting up.

  92. I have to get home so I can catch up here.

It felt sooooo good to have a hefty dose of Hillary today. That’s one of the reasons I supported her taking the position–we get to see her striding the globe, and delivering brilliant reports.

  93. fif
wtf other questions could there possibly be!

so she’ll be sworn in on BO’s big day!?

    that will be something. upstage!

  94. fif:

    Same here.

    here we go
    Obama hissy-tantrums already.
    that didn’t take long.

  99. cat: Oh, they want to know what her personal thoughts are throughout the day, and then have an independent counsel to investigate the nature of the thoughts, and see if the wingers approve (which of course, they won’t). After that, there will be questions about fantasies and pillow talk.

  100. Fif: I know. He turned the Dead Horse into glue right there on the table–with charts!

  101. Mawm: he milked it for all it was worth. I forgot how incredibly boring Kerry is. He is smart though–I’ll give him that.

  102. FUZZY & MAWM!!!!!!!!!

    HUGS TO YOU!!!!!!!

Obama = Bush with a Tan

Hillary = Diva with a Brain

  103. Gawd…she’s as beautiful as she is talented and smart. She is the quintessential role model for all women.

    Cheers to you Hillary!!

  104. ok, now I really really really have to go.

You people must stop being so damn captivating!

  112. he paid his taxes after the O vetters made him-what a loser!

  113. Jim Braude says Hillary did great-and he hates EVERYBODY

  114. taxes…taxes….they dun pay no steenkin’ taxes!

  115. The O-Crew is defending Geithner in spite of his not paying taxes, saying he’s the right one for the job in spite of this oversight. This oversight proves he’s the last a-hole personality we need to hand the check book to.

  116. Hi SM!!!

I missed you last night, but it was so wonderful to wake up and see your post first thing this morning. Welcome back!

  117. thanks Cat!
*is Hill geek too, and proud!*

  118. Regency,

    A $30,000 “oversight.” Uh huh.

  119. Geitner is out now too? Wow, BO really is a prodigy – his administration is corrupt before even getting started. Maybe we should just start appointing random Americans…. we’d probably get just about as good results as we’re getting now.

  120. seriously, boomer
that is just too much IMO

  121. President-elect Barack Obama made his first veto threat Tuesday in a closed-door meeting with Senate Democrats. Obama told his former colleagues that if Congress passes a resolution blocking release of the second half of the financial bailout funds he will veto it, said Sen. Joseph Lieberman after leaving the caucus meeting.

  122. bullshit!

Geithner, Choice for Treasury, Questioned on His Tax Returns
    By Jackie Calmes

Timothy F. Geithner, President-elect Barack Obama’s choice to be Treasury secretary, failed to pay tens of thousands of dollars in federal taxes and also faces questions about the immigration status of a former household employee, according to the committee and the Obama transition.

After the underpayments were detected, he paid back taxes and interest totalling $43,200.

The underpayments, according to people familiar with them, involve Mr. Geithner’s income earlier in this decade when he was a senior official at the International Monetary Fund before taking his latest job, as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, in November 2003.

From 2001 until 2004, when he received his final payments from the I.M.F., Mr. Geithner paid his state and federal income taxes but did not pay self-employment payroll taxes. The I.M.F., as an international organization, does not withhold U.S. payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare from its American employees’ paychecks, so they are required to pay the roughly 15 percent tax on their own. The Obama transition is calling his mistake a common error for American employees of the I.M.F.

After a 2006 Internal Revenue Service audit identified the lapse on his 2003 and 2004 tax returns, Mr. Geithner paid tax and interest of $17,230 and the I.R.S. waived penalties, according to the transition.
But Obama vetters discovered the same lapse for 2001 and 2002 and brought it to Mr. Geithner’s attention last Nov. 21, after which he paid tax and interest of $25,970, transition officials say.

That leaves for Mr. Geithner the question of why he did not correct the earlier years’ non-payment of self-employment taxes after the 2006 IRS audit identified the problem for 2003 and 2004.

  123. the fucker even got his penalties waived-no small thing
if anyone has ever dealt with the IRS!

  124. Regency, on January 13th, 2009 at 5:37 pm

He won’t. Mr. I voted present 130 times isn’t that bold to veto anything.

  125. You know, what made me so mad about the questioning of the Foundation was that there was no win there for Hillary. Lugar and Vitter were essentially trying to talk the Foundation out of existence in spite of all the good it’s done. They would have only been totally satisfied if Hillary agreed that it should be dissolved. That’s the sense I got and I also got the sense that such a proposal would have been a deal breaker for her.

  126. I watched part of Hillary’s hearing today, and I must say that I truly lover her and am truly amazed by her ability to converse on ANY issue. She’s a genius, and kind of a savant when it comes to absorbing and understanding policy. Examples of this are how quickly she became familiar with all issues important to New Yorkers, and how quickly she learned issues important to the military after getting on the Armed Services Committee.

What a tragedy that she is not the one being inaugurated.

  127. You said it, Benjamin.

  128. BB: Hugs back to you!!!!!!!!! Thank you, I saw your message. I’m eh, there. But at least I have energy to type & snark now.

  129. Benjamin – AMEN to that.

  130. Just catching up on the posts…was in ransit listening to NPR’s coverage of hearing….but I knew which website to visit to get the real deal to counterbalance the corporate BS and village talking points.

I suspect Hilary might want to knock back a double shot of 7 Crown after this day of trying to explain the obvious to the oblivious.

Terrific performance. I can only pray that the O-person does not sabotage her or the foundation’s access to resources to do good works.

BTW, no comparison of the post presidencies of both Carter and Clinton… justice and real help for the poor and needy vs those of Reagan and Bush Sr….personal enrichment. Care to bet where W will fit on that spectrum?

  131. Littleisis and Regency can join the Pampers ellect confirmation committee hearings…Mawm you could too and maybe nail this loser down on where he really stands on gay rights!

I can can only bet that Madamab and Bostonboomer and Angie would have a few pointed for the Pampers elect.

Oh and due to the STRONG possibility he will waffle on most of your direct policy questions I am limiting each committee member to yelling bullshit at the Pampers ellect to no more than 3 times per question.

Of course I as the chair can yield a extra 3 bullshits to each member when his answer is purposely vague and evasive….or more so than expected.

Great picture of Hillary! I see in the background the future Senator from New York and another Clinton President in what 2024?

    Chelsea as always looks smashing!

  132. Pampers believes like Miss Leona Helmsley:

    “Taxes are for Little People”

  133. What a freakin’ fab picture of Hillary and Chelsea!!

I am so proud of her.

  134. My cable company took away CSPAN just two days ago (&%*#@!) so this has been my only link to the proceedings (streaming vid just keeps stalling), so thanks everyone!

  135. Watching Hillary Clinton testify today makes you want to cry. Realizing what will be in the Whie House when it should be her is heartbreaking. I don’t even want to think about it. The look on Chelsea’s face says it all for us. She is so proud of her mother she is bursting.

Little Timmy Geither will not be shoved under the bus because the “One” thinks he is the answer to his prayers. He thinks Timmy can get him out of this financial mess so that he can take the credit for it the way he took the credit in Chicago for bills he hardly worked on at all – thanks to his friend Emil.

  136. It was wonderful today watching the hearings and listening to our brilliant Hillary, and knowing that the world was watching. She is a wonderful combination of brilliance, wit, compassion and humility (just the right amount). I really love them all. America is very lucky to have had them.

  137. Such a great photo!

Too bad I didn’t see it when I opened Yahoo this morning:

    http://syd4.blogspot.com/2009/01/it-is-not-about-hillary-anymore.html

  138. She is clearly overqualified for the SOS position. She is presidential material… End of story.

  139. mslas4hillary, yes, she is overqualified for the position but someone’s gotta keep the peace while Obama plays in Hawaii and his wine and dine sessions with the press corps.
