Now, to be clear, a few targets have been hit in fairly minor ways, but let’s assume a real strike with Western provided weapons. The opinion below has been stated often. The Misogynist Feminist

One of our recent visitors from Wonkette left this little gem in the comments:

Here is the deal. I have worked for progressive feminist causes all my adult life. I defended clinics, Defended birthmothers against exploitation. i canvassed for Mondale-Ferraro and withstood verbal assaults standing up for feminism and liberalism. I read this site and I am ashamed of you ladies. This is not what I thought feminism would lead to. I used to look up to your generation of females, I used to defend you as trailblazers, but you are now just whiners. I worked for Ferraro, but If I knew back when I was 18 who Ferraro would turn into I would have been ashamed as I am now.

Clinton lost because she didn’t run a good campaign and she was up against the best campaign run in modern history. She wasted money thinking she was a shoe-in. She couldn’t get enough progressives to forgive for her war vote and her unwillingness to admit she made a mistake.

Wanna a tough loss? Try working for the Mondale campaign and living through Reagan-Bush. Grow some callouses and join a cause that is positive. You are doing squat for women on this site. You are just embarrassing us.

Wonkette may be a bunch of profane drunkard political junkies but believe it or not they have far more humanity and wit than you all have in your whole collective. You suck oxygen out anywhere you are noticed. I could hardly look at you.

Wonkette at least has fun at what it does and never takes itself seriously. They make me laugh and often. This site is only poison and ugliness. Get over yourselves and figure out how you can actually do something positive in the world. This isn’t it ladies. The world is passing you by because it refuses to revolve around you.

You are not womanhood, you don’t represent me or feminism or any kind of progress for women if this site or any Puma site is your resume.

Grow up and be real women.

Let’s see, where do I start?  First of all, if the author of that piece was 18 in 1984, she would be in her 40’s right now, placing her in the middle of the PUMA demographic.  In fact, I’m pretty sure she would be older than Riverdaughter, the author of the post she was commenting on.

Secondly, I notice that our visitor didn’t make any substantive criticism or explain what made her “ashamed” of us “ladies.”  Was it our support for freedom of choice and LGBT rights?  Our posts condemning domestic violence and sexism?  Our advocacy of universal healthcare and the 51% solution?

Thirdly, in response to the standard Obama troll refrain about Hillary, I want to point out that Hillary got more primary votes than Obama (more than any Democrat ever!) while spending less money.  And she did it with the media biased against her and in favor of Obama.

Lastly, in regards to the “humanity” of the Wonkette community, how does she explain this?  Or the misogyny filled comment threads here, here and here?  How about the hundreds of vile and disgusting Wonktard comments that have filled our spam filter for the last couple of days, like the one comparing the vaginas of PUMA women to a grilled cheese sandwich?

Is this an example of Wonkette humanity?:

Neilist says at 6:55 pm, January 6th, 2009
– ReplyThis is really sick.

I watched the gabnet.com video re advertising and the sexual objectification of women, etc. I agreed with a lot of the points made, but then I read this little gem:

“This is what the victory of Barack Obama means for women: We are all fair game. It’s fine to advocate violence against Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin, over and over and over. You can win a national election by doing that, no matter how unqualified and corrupt you are. It’s also fine for Obama’s chief speechwriter to feign date rape against Hillary Clinton and not only keep his privileged position in the Administration, but to write the inaugural speech.”

I immediately decided that rape is a Good Thing.

For some people, that is.

(PUMAs: Word to the wise: Cows don’t get raped.

Even if they ask politely.

Moooooooo . . . . )

Well “mothermaven?”  What’s your explanation?

206 Responses

  1. Great post myiq (as usual). Good lord, they kiss their mommas with that mouth? Eh, their mommas probably run away when they see those freakshows coming toward them.

  2. And Hillary got stronger as the primaries went on, as people increasingly came to understant that the media narrative was a pack of crazy lies.

  3. Thanks, Myiq – terrific post. I’m getting REAL tired of the children invading our space for adult discussion.

  4. I thought Balloon Juice was bad, but they’re boy scouts compared to the Wanktards.

  5. This lady is a complete imbecile. She is in our age demographic. How old do these people think we are? She is basically saying we are much older than she is, then tells us to imagine living through Reagan-Bush, well if we are older than you are, sweetheart we did live through it (basic math).

As far as the statement grow up and be real women. Lady, you have no fucking idea.

  6. The spam filter is putrid right now.

  7. I’m betting Mothermaven’s explanation is

Hope…….change………..oh and let’s not forget Hopey change.

    Everybody raise their pompoms

“Yes we can, Yes we can, Yes we can”

  8. I am so tired of hearing about O’s brilliant campaign. If Hill had played the caucuses the way O did, she would have been the b*tch who’d do anything to win. She wasn’t selected because the media wanted Obama and the DNC HAS NO SPINE.

That’s what so dangerous about the whole thing. The media wants war, we get war. The media wants a certain candidate- Bush, Obama – we get that candidate.

  9. Kim,

I was discouraged long before Mondale. I voted for George McGovern and got Nixon and Watergate. And in those days, feminists didn’t call other women “ladies” any more than we would have used “girls.”

  10. Boohoo

Call me Pinnochio already, I’m not a REAL woman.

    Oh brother.

  11. Wow… so much hate and so little time.
So the woman defended choice… now how about she get around to supporting something besides our bodily control…like equal rights and respect for our majority status?
Women better learn to stick together because men certainly know how.

  12. Oh, and here’s the latest from the idol of the Wonkettes:

“We expect that discussion around entitlements will be a part, a central part” of efforts to curb federal spending, Mr. Obama said at a news conference. By February, he said, “we will have more to say about how we’re going to approach entitlement spending.”

Alluding to the projected deficit, Mr. Obama said: “And we know that our recovery and reinvestment plan will necessarily add more. My own economic and budget team projects that, unless we take decisive action, even after our economy pulls out of its slide, trillion-dollar deficits will be a reality for years to come.”

Mr. Obama did not offer specifics on how he would address Social Security and Medicare, which are financed by payroll taxes. The programs are crucial to millions of Americans, and talk of cutting benefits has long been considered politically explosive. On the other hand, both programs face long-range problems, given the growing legions of baby-boomers and the ever-rising cost of medical care.

So Obama is going to use the occasion of the stimulus to figure out a way to do something Republican to Social Security and Medicare?

For this man, these idiots at Wonkette snark their labored snark?

  13. why is ABG still here?

  14. I do have to say it is true Hillary “wasted” money — she should have spent it on buying delegates like Obama did. Nonetheless, she still won — I will never accept the DNC decision to GIVE Obama delegates he did not earn plus 4 of Hillary’s for good measure.
That “woman” who wrote that letter is a pathetic liar who is projecting unto us all the characteristics of wonkette: “[a] site [that] is only poison and ugliness.”
Furthermore, no real feminist would use the word “ladies” anyway. I’m not going to explain why for the dumbass wonkettees.

  15. ABG is back, why is he still angry?

  16. angie, that’s the post I was talking about last night. I think my favorite line might about sucking oxygen out! LOL.

Angry Black Guy’s back. He’s angry again; no longer hopeful!

  17. One of the biggest problems I have with the WankerKidz generation is that they rarely look past the surface of anything. None of their opinions seem to be grounded in history or research–they seem to be based on some collective unconscious text message. That they still buy the meme that Obama won because he had a superior campaign organization astounds me. How much more proof of foul play do they need? Maybe it just doesn’t matter because Obama is just so darn cool. Did I mention he’s post-partisan?

  18. Angry Black Guy

Why is it you think we care if you insult us back?(and yes we stand by the position that if you wore a Sarah Palin is a c*nt t shirt, then you are a sexist and misogynist.)

Really, all of you “erudite folks who can not spell” need to get over yourselves.

  19. ABG — calling a misogynist & sexist a misogynist & sexist is a statement of fact; if misogynists & sexists find us calling their behavior what it “insulting” then they should change THEIR behavior.

  20. Hillary disbanded her PAC in order to avoid conflicts of interest. Little did she know how Obama would use his and escape any criticism whatsoever.

  21. “Rape is good–for some people.” That’s nice. Proving the point. This moron thinks it’s OK to say “rape is good.” And we’ve learned hanging if effigy is good too–if it’s woman. It’s getting scary out there. I wonder if this person is aware that thousands of women are raped, beaten, and murdered all over this country every year? He doesn’t know about beastiality either. Cows do get raped.

  22. ABG:

So when you call us racists what does that justify us calling you?

  23. TRK — speak for yourself! The “woman” who wrote that post is hella older then I am ! LOL

DYB — thanks for pointing that out — I see I didn’t miss much by missing it last night! LOL

  24. Frankly o

These morons will still be defending him even as he sentences them to living on the whim of the stock market during their “golden years.” It is truly astounding.

  25. delurking. From the tenor and wording of that first citation, I would postulate that the author is not a woman, and is definitely not a woman in her 40’s. The cynical use of “ladies” is one of the first clues. Then there is the litany of what this “lady” did in the past, which of course is the basis for the ensuing diatribe. Then, there is the penultimate clue “suck oxygen”. That is not a phrase that a 40+ woman would use, much less a 40+ man.
I’m not psychic, but if push comes to shove, I would bet money that said commentator is a male, somewhere between the age of 16 and 26, with a severe case of MDS – that would be mommy derangement syndrome. Just my two cents….a poseur is a poseur, is a fake.
Do they teach these tactics at the O camps?

  26. ABG needs to find a dictionary.

  27. Angry Black Guy!!! Of all people to show up. From angry to happy to hopeful, he’s back to angry.

  28. Maybe angry black guy needs to be medicated. He sounds manic.

  29. OK, Angry Black Guy. Let’s hear your superior arguments in favor of misogyny and sexism. I’ll give you time before I remove your comments.

  30. BB, notice how the person also suggests we are so old and bitter that we have to ask to be raped? LOL, if only the fool had any idea.
    1. I have a great sex life
    2. I have been raped, when I was 13, and it is not the same thing.

Wonkers really should police their site better for Liberal male sexist pigs.

  31. In my age bracket, the term lady was only used in certain instances. One specific instance would be “Lady, get off my back.” When that term was used, the person you were referring to knew that she was being slammed. Hence my referring to her as “lady.”

  32. ABG — the Great Keyboard War of Aught Nine is as lame as the wonkette site — and keep up, they called it off yesterday because it is too cold to fight.
I have no interest in having a discussion with any one who thinks “rape is a good thing” even in jest. Frankly, serious or joking, I don’t know which is worse. It takes a psycho to rape a woman, but it is a special kind of psycho who can find the humor in it.

  33. “in my mind, that kind of vindication is won through superior arguments.”

So what are their “superior arguments?”

Rape is good, PUMAs have gooey/sticky vaginas, we’re old, ugly and need to get f**ked?

  34. {{{TeresainPa}}} As I said, it takes a special kind of psycho to find “the humor” in rape.

  35. bb

I keep thinking of that Senator from Wyoming who admitted to indiscretions with farm animals everytime I read that. Moooooo indeed.

  36. HT– I think you’re probably right. It’s hilarious that they think we’re going to be chastened by their silly lectures.

  37. I just stopped by – I’m at work and can’t stay.

BUT, I wanted to say that a year or so ago, I went to Wonkette and read, I guess I lurked, never saying anything. I found the posts were snarky and nasty and really mean spirited. (Trust me, I have never backed away from snark, but I don’t like meanness and that’s why TC is a homepage for me.) I felt sullied by what I read and I don’t like feeling sullied.

I don’t “get” the ugliness of the comments highlighted above. What’s the purpose?

If Wonkette “wins” by being nasty, then I don’t want the “honor”. It’s kinda like the way Precious “won” his “award” .

    Later all.

  38. HT:

I agree – you can practically see the protruding adam’s apple.

  39. Wonkette and the other sites don’t delete comments. PUMAs are free to wage war against the sexists as they please. If the arguments are stron enough, PUMAs will win. If they are not, they will be drowned out.

blah blah blah, oh the psuedo intellectualism and drivel of it all.
This isn’t high school debate club ABG, why do guys like you always revert back to these same tired old arguments?

  40. I’m waiting, Angry Black Guy. Arguments in favor of misogyny and sexism? How about an argument for why we should support Obama’s desire to end Social Security? Waiting…..

  41. HT, on January 7th, 2009 at 1:24 pm Said:

You need to delurk more often ’cause you hit the nail on the head with all the “clues” the “woman” left as to “her” real identity as a 20-something male with MDS.

  42. HT: Do they teach these tactics at the O camps?

In fact, they do. Remember all those cheesey comments during the primaries that would go, “I used to be a Hillary supporter, but now that she did x, I think she’s a slime bucket and regret ever having supported her. BO 08”

I mean, they were all over the Internet like cockroaches. Even in auto repair blogs!

  43. Now now angie

    They were just snarking

    It’s all in good fun.

I’m sure the millions of women assaulted each day would chuckle if they read that comment.

The fact that someone would defend these kind of comments and say in the same breath they aren’t “really” a bunch of sexist and misogynists boggles the mind.

  44. LOL, Sophie!! Auto repair blogs?

  45. Wonkette: Discussion? What’s that? Anyone know any good dumb blonde jokes. Snort snort

  46. Rape is good, PUMAs have gooey/sticky vaginas, we’re old, ugly and need to get f**ked?

I suppose that is better than having dusty cobweb filled vaginas.

  47. PUMAcub? You want us to *explain* ourselves to you? Give me a break. These trolls are a riot today.

  48. PUMAcub — google is your friend. Use the terms Michagan, DNC & delegates.

  49. Obama did steal. He stole 4 delegates that Clinton EARNED. You aren’t entitled to your own set of facts.

  50. CWalts – he also STOLE all the delegates he got from MI who voted “undecided” — nothing wrong with letting delegates go as “undecided” unless, of course, the fix is in.

  51. Bye bye, ABG. We can’t have that kind language about the President-elect here. Run along now.

  52. ABG doesn’t seem to understand that we were at other sites, and any time we differed with the adulation Obots exhibit, we were called r@cist. No basis for calling us that, we just were. It was reminiscent of the old, “I know you are, but what am I?” diatribe. Gets you nowhere fast. We left those sites and found a place of our own. So if we weren’t welcomed at the other sites, why do you seek us out at our sites?

  53. Dakinikat went to wonkette yesterday & asked for a discussion on the issues. She got insults & snide comments instead.

  54. ABG, now you are just making sh*t up. Nowhere did anyone say all Obama supporters were sexist.
But hey, Obama himself is sexist and the over all tone of his campaign was both race baiting and sexist. So if you did not object maybe you need to take a closer look at yourself.
    Now go away.

  55. I agree with HT

I don’t think ithe wonkette is woman and I don’t think it’s a woman in her 40’s. I have never heard any women in her forties that I know use the term “suck oxygen”; I certainly haven’t

  56. Please, let’s not give the Wankers any more energy. I do not like this. We are beginning to sound just like them. Let’s move on. Please?

  57. puma cub, google “TX democratic caucus”

  58. I’m aware ang

We are dealing with an Obot though. They are experts at rationalizing.

There is absolutely no way to rationalize taking 4 delegates that were EARNED from one candidate and giving them to antother.

    Baby steps.

  59. First of all ABG — you don’t get to tell me what helps or hurts the feminist cause. Second, calling yourself “progressive” doesn’t make you one — a cat can have kittens in the oven, doesn’t make them biscuits.

  60. Really? So Mothermaven just sounds like a male 20 something cheetoh eating Obot? Sad.

  61. “At what point does Puma nation realize that the way towards real feminist change is not to call progressive femininist men and women mysoginist simply because they don’t buy into your narrative of what happened over the last 2 years?”

We call people “misogynists” when they engage in misogyny.

Progressive feminist men and women don’t engage in misogyny.

  62. If Obama’s plan for hopey changey is privatizing social security, he will find himself in an approval bracket lower than Bush in a nanosecond. That is one program people tend to get upset about quickly.

  63. I must be racist. I spent 2 years in a serious relationship with a Black man but the fact that I did not like Obama and never drank the kool aid makes me racist… he said so himself.

  64. There is an disagreement with the lowlife from RR on http://weblogawards.proboards85.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=816 if anyone is interested

  65. ABG said: On the other hand, when people say that Obama only won because he’s black or that he’s a slick talking pimp or that he’s really a thief . . .

I can’t speak for everybody, but I don’t recall any of those being our arguments. My arguments have been that he gamed the caucuses, resorted to character assassination by playing the r@ce card against a man (and then a constituency) that were not r@cist, got most of his campaign money from dubious sources, enjoyed an undeserved advantage from the Clinton-hating wing of they DNC, while the bought and paid for media never properly vetted him and he ran a campaign without the substance we expect from Democrats.

  66. vindication is won by superior arguments??

hahahahaha ABG in my tehcnical sphere ABG stands for arterial blood gas but anyway ….

how about RESULTS , do you think superior arguments would have sufficed foranyone in the civil rights movement , if segregation had continued ?? etc etc extrapolate yourself ………….

  67. mothermaven may be a woman, I suppose. After all, Sandra Bernhardt is a woman and she fantasized about Palin getting gang raped. Women wore “Sarah Palin is a C*nt” t-shirts. I’ve heard women call Hillary all kinds of gender-specific names. Look at MoDo!

  68. Teresa:

Don’t feel bad, they think afrocity is a racist too.

  69. We are just feeding their them, someone said earlier that we are rewarding bad behavior. We are above this, we need to just ignore them and let them keep Spammy company. Remember, they will be under the bus with us before this is all said and done.

  70. myiq

progressive= able to rationalize idolizing a guy who voted for FISA, stood on stage with a guy who called gay a disease and giving a guy who calls gay a disease and says women should be subservient a platform, derided UHC during the primaries, says Social Security is an “entitlement” program and stand idly by while a woman is savaged so you can score political points.

    I sure am glad I ain’t progressive.

  71. They might end up under the bus, but they’ll like it. “Oh, Barack. That hurts so good!”

  72. Please, let’s not give the Wankers any more energy. I do not like this. We are beginning to sound just like them. Let’s move on. Please?

I second that emotion, StaunchWoman. Just leave the wankerettes behind in their tiny minded misery.

  73. I agree with the people who doubt that this post was written by a woman.

The election is over and these trolls still cannot handle dissent.

  74. hello all home for lunch this tr0ll invasion is very entertaining and all because we got a Liberal Blog nod?

I love these silly obots peeing koolaid as fast as they drink it….

anyway obama says his new “spending watchdog czar” is going to take a good hard look at cutting entitlement spending like medicare and social security!

Holy Crap- Obama just grabbed the 3rd rail of politics with both hands hope he gets fried….

anyone wnt to see the referenceit on the AP

  75. The Obots love the strawman.

First they misstate our arguments, then they prove that the argument we never made is wrong.

  76. Ok here it is right from the AP:

“President-elect Barack Obama said Wednesday that reforming massive government entitlement programs – such as Social Security and Medicare – would be “a central part” of his effort to control federal spending.

Obama made the pledge but provided few details as he named Nancy Killefer as his administration’s chief performance officer, creating a new White House position aimed at eliminating government waste and improving efficiency.”

the word efficiency is Obotspeak for cutting the social security check of current reciepients….as he his trying to control spending during his tenure in the whitehouse…

guess mom will be moving in with me!

  77. Oh boy, they have fun and never take themselves seriously. Well let me tell you sister, we are living in some pretty serious times right now, so you better shape up. This is not about you having your feelings hurt. GROW UP!!!! This is what I detest about you Obamabots, everything is a joke, and not to be taken seriously unless it is happening to you. Times are tough out there for millions of Americans, and getting tougher, so climb down off your high horse and get serious. If you are serious about women having(which I seriously doubt) then you supported the wrong candidate. I have never in my 41 years of voting ever saw such a mysoginistic sexist campaign as what Obama ran. By the way, are you really female, or another one of those male pigs looking down on women? Just asking. I f you are a women, THEN I AM COMPLETEY ASHAMED OF YOU FOR SUCH STATEMENTS.

  78. Kat5:

Generally we do, but occasionally we need to drag their filth out into the light so we have a clear record when they say “What sexism? What misogyny?”

  79. Already saw it fuzzy

I think the grocery store is an “entitlement” program. I mean how dare they expect currency in exchange for goods?

Since you can give the government money for x amount of years with the understanding that money and medical care will be there for you in your old age (which is what has been done)and they can call it an entitlement program then I think I have a sound argument.

What this is about is that the government wants that money to put into an account for stimulus spending.

  80. We also didn’t land on Wonkette! Wonkette landed on us!

  81. Since when is money that I pay in become something perceived as “entitlement”? If they cut it and I papid it in, then I demand every penny of it back.

  82. Mmmmkay. So, according since I am the author of the paragraph quoted above by the Wonktard moron, then I should be raped?

    Wow. Talk about superior arguments.

I third StaunchWoman and Kat5. Enough. These “people” at Wonkette are now advocating rape.

Do we really need to keep giving them time and attention?

  83. I just cannot believe it calling the AARP and sendin them a nice little Email

  84. I was raped, and it is not fun. It is not a subject for joking. These people are really disgusting.

    Oh, and I’m a man.

  85. I agree with Staunch Woman, TRK & kat5 in that paying these clowns (forgive me Myiq, not your kind of clown) this kind of attention only serves to inflame them to more outrageous acts. One must remember, these people have been raised on self esteem/self aggrandisement first, winning second, performance and accomplishment last. Apparently, (if one is to judge by their actions and words) they have no concept re honor and dignity, nor about achievement through honest effort. As they appear to be incapable of performing and accomplishing much, they revert to the first two and their only method to achieve those is by cheating, lying and denigrating. Let them go to h#ll in a handbasket of their own making. As a dedicated lurker, that’s my .02c.

  86. Oh, and as for Obama being a Reagan Republican who:

–advocates tax cuts for the wealthy
    –calls the New Deal “entitlement”
–is suddenly obsessed with cutting wasteful spending and earmarks – but supported the bailout with no oversight…

Now, to my conference call. Later all!

  87. They have plans for the surplus

They need that projected $248 billion to spend on neat projects instead of the people it was promised to.

  88. HT, I still think they should be mocked and ridiculed, as everyone who voted for Obama should be.

  89. I don’t think they deserve any attention, but the argument itself does. In a way it is core. Like myiq2xu says, drag it out into the light.

  90. I agree, madamab. I think myiq’s post is excellent and necessary to expose their pathetic arguments. I say ignore them. We already know the blog awards voting has been gamed. I’m proud that we were nominated.

  91. “PUMACub was reading straight from one of those “Sweetie” scripts we saw last Summer.

“Oooh, tell me more about PUMA, I am so interested, but didn’t Obama win?”

  92. Mawm,

That’s terrible. I’m so sorry for what was done to you. You deserve nothing but joy and love in your life.

    {{{{ Mawm }}}}}

  93. Sometimes we need to document the troll droppings too, so people know why we mean old fascist moderators banish the trolls to spamville.

  94. I agree totally Madama. Look at what Obambi is doing now. Talking about privatization of Social Security. He hasn’t even taken office yet and he has jumped feet first into something most voters do not want touched. It is not going to take long for the bots to see what a HUGE mistake they made. When grandma and grandpa start geting worried about their social security, there are going to be a lot of kewl kidz getting their little behinds spanked.

  95. I think that exposing their charecter to the light of day is called for myself.

Their blog is being sold as a “liberal” site.

Since when does being liberal mean advocating cheating, thinking rape is something to be joked about, and making fun of people who disagree with you?

Personally, I hope they go with the prograessive moniker. I don’t want to be considered in the same group as people who think such repulsive behavior is “cool”.

  96. here the Email:

    Dear AARP-

Mr Obama wants to cut medicare and Social Security – are you martialing the 45 million seniors and soon to be seniors like me to fight this?

    See Below:

WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Barack Obama said Wednesday that reforming massive government entitlement programs – such as Social Security and Medicare – would be “a central part” of his effort to control federal spending.

Obama made the pledge but provided few details as he named Nancy Killefer as his administration’s chief performance officer, creating a new White House position aimed at eliminating government waste and improving efficiency.

Noting that the Congressional Budget Office had just estimated he would inherit a $1.2 trillion federal deficit for fiscal 2009, Obama promised to cut unnecessary spending.

“We expect that discussion around entitlements will be a part, a central part of those plans,” Obama said. “And I would expect that by February in line with the announcement of at least a rough budget outline we will have more to say about how we’re going to approach entitlement spending.”

We cannot let Mr Obama Rail Road Americas senior population…I wll be a memeber in 4 years and I want to make sure he doesnt take or cut my benefits anymore than Reagan did.

I am counting on my Social Security with the shabby shape of my retirement plan I will need it more.

  97. Mawm,

I’m really torn. For some reason these Wankerpeople seem so sad and pitiful to me. It isn’t even a fair fight, they’re so juvenile. It seems like such a waste of time to pay attention to them.

But at the same time I agree with you that the *words* and *arguments* (if you can call them that) they are using must be exposed and should be held up to public ridicule.

I don’t know what the answer is.

  98. Geez, what you can find when you return from a vacation.

I find this Wonkette tantrum interesting – since I’ve read Wonkette now and then for a couple years…and I don’t consider it a ‘liberal’ blog. That would be the wrong category. So why they feel they are in competition with others on the weblog awards page is beyond me.

Near as I can tell, Wonkette is a political blog whose motto could be ‘Sarcasm uber alles,’ with an editorial philosophy designed to maximize hit-count, rather than advocate any particular political position.

  99. Yes, HT I immediately thought that “gal” was a young guy by the words and style.

I agree -let’s talk about what is going on in the real world and let the moderators dump the tr*lls so we the adults can talk.

Has anyone heard what is going on with Franken? It seems that they accepted Blago’s appointment!

  100. “Wonkette and the other sites don’t delete comments. ”

ABG spews his drivel EVERYWHERE. I thought TC was safe.. He usually spews his garbage at Tennessee Guerilla Women, he must be getting paid some overtime to got to other blogs……

  101. BB, I was drugged, kidnapped, and raped. I was ashamed and I didn’t go to the police.

But now the assholes at Wonkette have let me know that its really ok to joke about it.

I’m so relieved that we live in a “post post modern” world.

  102. well lunch over -bye bye

  103. Looks like someone hacked myiq’s account.

  104. “Wonkette and the other sites don’t delete comments. ”

ABG spews his drivel EVERYWHERE. I thought TC was safe.. He usually spews his garbage at Tennessee Guerilla Women, he must be getting paid some overtime to go to other blogs……

  105. bye fuzzy

  106. If it were just one or two comments it would be one thing, but we’ve had 250-300 troll droppings since Monday evening.

About half of them are simply vile.

  107. 2:07 is not myiq, check out the avatar

  108. Myiq, 207 pm, look at the comment.

  109. I don’t think ignoring Wankerers will make them go away. They’ll still be there, just not here. I think that a tree that falls in the woods always makes a noise. And they’ll keep making noise and spawning.

  110. Avatar is different, name is the same. Myiq you have an admirer stalker. Isn’t that just creepy.

  111. OMG, Mawm! Thank goodness you survived. I’m sure the wankf*kurs think what happened to Betty Jeans daughters is funny too. Seeing how meanspirited people can be only makes me want to work harder to have an open heart and care for other people. I don’t want to be like them ever! I know that sounds a little silly, but I don’t care. I mean it. I want to be able to feel my feelings. I never want to be cold and heartless.

  112. Another tr0ll at 2:10, and this one is under the delusion that all we do is talk about Wonkette. Most of us didn’t know it existed until they declared war on us yesterday. It’s the heigh of arrogance to think that the blogosphere revolves around Wonkette. And how progressive is this tr0ll when it then decides to insult “50 middle aged women?” I’ve never heard any of these tr0lls explain how insulting anyone over the age of 25 is liberal and progressive.

  113. Oh jeebus freaking hell, wonkette or wankette, whatever you call yourself, STFU! This is tiresome and ridiculous, now one of your own has hijacked one of our posters names go away. We do not want to play. Do not come again another day.

(Thought they would understand better if I spoke in Dr. Seuss terms.)

  114. The fallacy in ABG’s argument rests here, IMO:

“Most Obama fans would have voted for Hillary without reservation if she had won…”

In fact, most Hillary supporters did eventually support Obama, and, it is likely that fewer Obama supporters would have supported Hillary. Putting aside all evidence of cheating during the primaries, let’s suppose that the primary season had ended exactly as it did, with Obama and Clinton in a virtual tie, neither one having earned enough pledged delegates to clinch the nomination. Let’s suppose, too, that it was Obama and not Clinton who had surged in the final weeks ending the primaries with landslide wins in big swing states like Pennsylvania. If the post-primary and convention events had transpired exactly as they did except with Sen. Clinton emerging as the nominee, not only would Obamanation have withheld its support, there would have been rioting in the streets in protest of the r@cism that elevated the white woman over the black man.

Calling me and others like me a sore loser does not change the facts. Someone has to expose the truth and, more importantly, work toward reform so that the horror that passed for the Democratic nomination process this year is not repeated.

  115. How do we fight misogyny if we don’t face it and call it out?

  117. {{{{{mawm}}}}}}

  118. Actually I have been talking about Social Security inbetween the inane ramblings that pass for conversation over at Wonkette, Wonkette spokesperson

Why don’t you get back to picking up your pompoms and fix that economy?

    Gimmee an E!

I’m glad being trillions in the hole and having soldiers die in countries we have no business being in to begin with is fodder for entertainment for you though. Next time ask to be placed in the INANE BLOG category please.

  119. BB, it is all about insecurity. These kids are really insecure. Whenever you see somone having to tear down another person just to feel adequate or to feel they belong it all stems from insecurity.

But I don’t have to tell you that because you are a pschologist.

True liberals love other people and want to care for them.

I am not a true liberal, but I have been trying to be all my life.

  120. I discovered this year that “anti-Bush” does not mean “liberal”

  121. BWAHAHA Wonkette Spokesman Person — now we are 50? I thought we were only 20!!!

Oh, go fuck yourself — (I’m a Gen. Xer unlike the other sophisticated women here, so it is ok for me to say that). BWAHAHA

  122. {{{Mawm}}} to paraphrase bb: You are so wonderful & you should only have wonderful things in your life.

  123. 2:22 is NOT TRK

  124. Poor Paul Krugman. Our “liberal” President isn’t listening to him at all. Not that he really thought Obama would do so…the Krug supported Hillary in the primaries.

Now we’re on the edge of another Depression, and Obama is bent on dismantling the New Deal as quickly as he can – and appointing an opponent of UHC to be Surgeon General.

Oy vey. I need a time machine that goes back to 2000 so we could convince the Nader voters and more liberal Repubs to vote for Al Gore. Obama is only going to make the economy worse.

Mawm – I am so sorry to hear about what happened to you. And no, it’s not f*cking funny.

    Many hugs through the intertubez!!!

  125. Wow, you are fast!

  126. Is this new generation, Generation Zero? They’ll certainly end up with Zero by the time Obama is through changing things.

  127. myiq — I discovered that by “Bush” these misogynistic b@stards meant “v@gina” — so they were “anti-Bush”

  128. Hey! Ain’t I sophisticated too?

  129. The only “poison and ugliness” on this site is the garbage the tr0lls drag in.

I think the reason PUMAs are attacked so viciously is because we won’t let go of the truth and the obots don’t appreciate any disturbance of their reverie. Come on, FISA? There’s really no way to sugarcoat that one except to ignore it. And, damn, if PUMAs won’t let it go away. We just keep reminding them that they voted for Bush v3.09.

Also, we show them for who they truly are. They lose their cool and then their real selves are revealed in their vulgar, misogynistic comments. But that’s our fault for (god forbid!) expressing our opinions. Just as a rapist will blame a woman’s clothing, the obots insist that she is the problem. Sorry, but no. The problem lies within those drab little tr0ll hearts and, unfortunately, the hate appears to be very deeply rooted.

  130. DYB — they are actually named Generartion Y — as in “Why do they exist?”

  131. Nope Myiq, anti Bush means anti Bush. The irony is they ended up supporting the candidate that closely mirrors Bush. Blank slate: check ,Wants to gut Social Security and privatize it: check, Doesn’t want universal healthcare: check, treats gays and women like crap: check…….I mean c’mon, they could be siblings.

The things he was gonna do differently he’s already started reneging on but he’s not a politician….he’s different.(rolling eyes)

Meet Barack Obama : Compassionate Conservative 2.0

  132. Exactly myiq2xu. Fight it where we find it, and fight the way we’re facing. it’s the only way.

We can’t fight everyone all the time, but we can give as good as we get and better where we are.

They think it’s a war, we think they are childish, but they invaded us. I personally couldn’t give two figs for their vile pathetic blog, but they obviously want to try and destroy the vibe and the reputation of ours and those of our allies. They do this with vile hate, misogyny, ageism and homophobia here and elsewhere and I say NO!! We won’t stand for it and we don’t have to stand for it. Bring it out into the light.

  133. A time machine set at 2000 sometimes seems like the only answer.

  134. gxm — you hit the nail on the heat — the Obots are like vampires & the truth is the sun.

  135. Ang- be cheery

We’re gonna get an extra $50 each paycheck for 4 months. That will fix everything.

  136. Krugman supported Hillary during the primaries, but he was in full Obot mode during the general election. He was so busy bashing McCain he didn’t have time to criticize Obama. It goes back to leverage: Krugman had it then. Now he’s just another Cassandra and the guy he worked hard to elect isn’t listening.

  137. oh lord….
Yesterday I fell and smashed both knees on the floor (tripped over a phone jack wire). The whole world is ice and I have not been able to see one single appointment today…why I am here at the library trying to stay warm.. and I have to hear all kinds of nonsense about who I am and why I feel the way I do.
Why can’t people who are not me just take my word for who I am and why I feel as I do.
I do not like what happened in the democratic primaries and I am fed up. The party has not done a damn thing for me in years and now they are headed to the land of homophobic bigots and women hating pseudo religious leaders. Why? because it gets them more votes.
I have said before and I will say again that to me, Obama looks like just another pasty faced straight white guy with darker skin. And damn it, yes, Clinton would have been more progressive.

  138. BTW — don’t forget to vote!! We are 70 votes behind TPM!

  139. I hate to say this but it probably isn’t wise attempting to go up against Wonkette, they tend to make people look pretty foolish. Again sorry to say it, but having been at the other end of their wrath, it isn’t worth wasting your time on. It is sorta like trying to swat a very annoying fly with a tennis racket. It is best to ignore them, then they will simply move on to some other target.

  140. Exactly gxm17, exactly!!!

  141. From where I am standing – They are the ones who look foolish.

  142. Thanks guys. I am over it now, but it makes me angry to see people make light of something so horrible.

I also wonder if they would copy their Mothers on the comments they make on the internet. And I wonder if they would still think it were funny if their own Mother was the one being made fun of.

  143. DYB: Bingo!

  144. CWaltz — yeah, that extra $50 a month will help my clients pay my fees — I’m damn cheery! LOL

  145. We have no choice in this TaylorB, they went up against us. If they move on to other targets then we will ignore them as we did before but if they keep tr0lling here then it is impossible not to go against them.

  146. Taylor,

Best wishes to you, but we aren’t the types to run away from a fight. If we were we would have drunk the koolaid and joined the Obot brigade.

  147. Oh yes, I fear that the people who say I should be raped will make me look foolish.

    Oh wait – no I don’t.

  148. TaylorB:

All I’m doing is holding their own words up to the light.

If that bothers them, then they need to change what they say.

  149. Sorry, I was working, did somebody post under my name again?

  150. TaylorB> We didn’t land on Wonkette, Wonkette landed on us. They’re here invading our blog, not the other way around. They declared war on us, not the other way around. Running away is not in our nature.

  151. They are the ones trolling us, not the other way around. All we are doing is participating in our own blog.

  152. DYB– GMTA!

  153. (((Mawm))) Just seen your posts.

  154. TeresaInPa,

Please be careful! I was just thinking about you this morning and wondering how you are doing. I cancelled an appointment today because I didn’t want to go out in the freezing rain and fall down. Please take care of yourself, and I’m so glad you checked in.

  155. Everything I referred to in my post was either a comment made here or something said about us over there.

    That makes it our business.

  156. pcmoore: when did anyone here get “down in the gutter?” Specific examples and citations please?

  157. pcmoore:

    Fighting misogyny is important.

  158. Keep posting the comments MyIq

I think people should see what passes for “liberal” these days.

  159. I think pcmoore may be a troll, but we can give him/her a chance to respond.

  160. DYB you nailed it. Generation Zero.

I had never heard of these sites that have targeted “PUMA” blogs.

After reading their drivel about Confluence, Uppity and NQ I remembered I never did care much for fratboys with too much testosterone and scant amount of brains.

I’ll add you sister Pumas to my daily voting jaunt.

    Good Luck!

  161. Huh? um….. Wha?

  162. Gary has a new post about the Burris appointment, and the way the media continues to push the daily Obama propaganda no matter how it compares to last week’s.

  163. What is pc moore’s point again?

  164. Thanks, Mawm!

  165. Thanks PKJayne!

  166. BB

I sure couldn’t tell. It parroted you and Myiq but didn’t add anything original.

  167. BB:

He/she just dropped by to express concern.

  168. Thanks PK

    Back at ya 😉

  169. New post up!!

  170. Ditto to all of the above – except for the part about ignoring the Wonktards.
I’m sure it’ll all be old in a day or two, but for now I’m really loving
the wit and brilliance of the Puma responses.
And I also think it’s important to be reminded of the reality of the Obot
movement every so often. The whole thing was so surreal that it’s easy
to deny the truth and believe I must have imagined the
takeover of the Democratic Party – and the whole democratic system.
Comments of these crazy people (I agree he’s a guy, not a woman)
    help reinforce my committment.
But I am grateful to spammy for deleting the direct comments of these
asshats. Quotes are one thing, direct communication is definitely
    too nauseating after lunch.

  171. For anyone concerned about us giving Wonkette attention, please keep in mind that they get TEN TIMES MORE TRAFFIC THAN US

  172. I just voted for the confluence and the wonkette lead of 47.2% [6,799 to confluences’ 12.6% (1,810)] looks hugely off to me. But then, after Hillary’s loss, I don’t read much misogynistic garbage anymore.

Re: this *feminist* you’ve dug up for us to read

I don’t know a true feminist who would react to your blog as she has. More than not calling women here whiners (a sexist remark, imo), you wouldn’t assume that women here weren’t real women–whatever that means. Not to honor HRC’s huge support and votes is inexcusable. I’m also disgusted with others’ calling me old–so I am a baby boomer, so what. I have supported feminist causes for a long time.

On election day, I couldn’t vote for a republican and now I’m wishing I hadn’t voted. I also can’t vote for radical conservative Christians like Palin. I don’t expect to comment here regularly, but I’ve wondered if I would be banned for a (mildly) differing opinion.

  173. Speaktruth,

I have a feeling they’ll get bored pretty soon. These trolls seem to have ADHD or some other developmental disorder. I hope they will get the help they need.

  174. I didn’t “dig up” the misogynist feminist, “she” laid that egg right here on our carpet.

  175. Why would someone (several someones actually) come here for the first time today just to tell us that we shouldn’t waste our time on Wonkette?

  176. artemis

She was less radical then she was painted. The group she was a part of helped creat the Domestic Violence Act and Child Enforcement Act. They are presently working on getting financial support for females in college who find themselves pregnant so they can complete college. While I disagree with her on choice I found Palin far from radical. Heck if radical is creating programs that help women and children put me onboard the “radical” bus.

  177. artemis,

Of course you won’t be banned. We ban people for posting attacks on our commenters or writers. We also ban propaganda and silly troll comments.

We didn’t endorse anyone in the general election. Many of our commenters voted for Cynthia McKinney or other alternative candidates. It’s too bad that people make such false assumptions based on little information.

And we didn’t “dig up” this “feminist.” He/she repeatedly spammed our blog, and myiq simply held him/her up to public ridicule for her sexist and ageist comments.

  178. artemis — what is your differing opinion? TC did not endorse Palin — TC readers can think for themselves & only advocated that everyone vote their consciousness — I voted mine; I hope you voted yours. Now, I’m not going to tell you how to vote, but if you want to come here & attack people and/or tell people how to vote, then, while I do NOT speak for RD, I can see that being a problem. If you are not, then it shouldn’t be.

  179. Myiq

My bet: They don’t want all the naughty things they’ve been saying and doing exposed to the light of day.

  180. Hmmm….interesting question myiq. Pondering…

  181. artemis> A lot of people here did not vote for McCain/Palin. And I think you need to do a little research about Palin before you call her a “radical conservative Christian.” This is the “radical conservative Christian” who vetoed Republican legislation in her state that would have taken health benefits away from partners of gay workers. It was a radical move and a Christian one. Obama can not show anything comparable he has done for the gay community. What I came to appreciate about Palin is that she is, indeed, a conservative Christian, but I’ve seen no evidence that she’s a “fascist” (for lack of a better word.)

  182. I agree the wankettes aren’t themselves worth paying attention to, but myiq is right that their fallacious (and fellacious) arguments need to be dragged out into the light.

Like, for instance, Nell, who claims, in the face of every poll, vote count, and fact out there that most of Obama’s voters wouldn’t have voted for Clinton, but most Clinton voters would vote for Obama. This is classic Axelrove direct feed into obot brain baloney.

Clinton was outpolling Obama against McCain right into October (which was when the last poll asking this question was done). I know simple math is beyond wankettes’ skillset, so I’m sum up: that means more people would’ve voted for Clinton than would have voted for Obama up to the election.

At least a quarter of Hillary’s voters did not in fact vote for Obama. Which, by the way, is exactly the same percentage who said all along, starting before Super Tuesday, would not vote for Obama. (actually, it’s slightly higher than some of the early polls, as many people grew more disgusted with Obama as time went on).

Also, Obama was struggling in the polls against McCain right up until the stock market began collapsing. McCain was tied, ahead, or only slightly behind in most polls as late as Sept. So, in the year NO Democrat could lose, the person who ran the “best campaign in history” stood a fair chance of losing to a Republican at the political nadir of the party.

But all this is based on actual data, real numbers, and requires actually using a bit of mad internetz skillz to find out. Omg, so much work! Facts are hard! Far, far harder than surfing to the Obama website each morning to pick up the tpm of the day and then mindlessly regurgitating (for the obots/wankettes, that means barfing) that vomitous mass all over any site that will allow them to post.

    But, that’s just one example.

  183. BTW, Artemis. We appreciate your voting for us. Thanks for that.

  184. BB – I think they know they have lost the war. They declared victory and left the field. We are their Vietnam!

  185. Does anyone realize how stupid this sounds:

Obama made the pledge but provided few details as he named Nancy Killefer as his administration’s chief performance officer, creating a new White House position aimed at eliminating government waste and improving efficiency.

Cut waste and improve efficiency by adding a new W.H. job?
LOL! Assign those duties to someone already in O.M.B.

  186. I live in California and Obama was predicted to (and did) win easily.

My vote was symbolic, not decisive.

(Unlike some Obama voters, I voted against Prop H8)

  187. Valhalla,

Yes, unfortunately, research is definitely beyond the skillset of the Wankfesters. They are into something called “say ‘n spell” or something like that. They were outraged that I didn’t know what it was. Apparently some child’s toy from the ’80s. That’s the level of brainpower we are dealing with.

  188. madamab,

We’ll know for sure when I can walk away from my computer to make a cup of tea without coming back to a trollfest.

  189. I should have said when “myiq and I can walk away from our computers.”

  190. myiq2xu> Didn’t most Obama supporters in CA vote for Prop 8, not just some?

  191. Anyone old enough to have worked for Mondale-Ferarro should be able to spell “shoo-in” correctly. Maybe her “say & spell” thingie doesn’t work.

  192. DYB:

Most Obama voters also voted no on Prop H8, but a bunch of them voted yes, which is why it passed.

  193. okasha skatsi, on January 7th, 2009 at 3:07 pm Said:

Anyone old enough to have worked for Mondale-Ferarro should be able to spell “shoo-in” correctly. Maybe her “say & spell” thingie doesn’t work.

It was all that hooked-on-phonics shit. It ruined ’em as spellers! 😆

  194. bboomer — funny, it sure doesn’t look like they made use of this valuable relic, “say n’ spell”. Because none of them can spell worth a d*mn.

    G*d! I’m lmao at these Wankette-level tr0lls.

  195. I was over at the blog that shall not be named. I read every PUMA thread and every comment that was made. I have to say that Stupid Wonkette, whomever s/he was, did us no favors. Maybe that was the point? I find it extremely hard to believe that one of us would be over there calling other women names, even women Obots. Apparently, the person identified both Dak and Afrocity as “Stupid Wonkette”. Anyway, it was nasty. I was also not at ALL surprised to discover that their PUMA posts have tons of comments, while their anything other than PUMA posts have nothing. The PUMA threads remind me of a “what’s grosser than gross” joke competition in the 3rd grade.

No Obot ever discusses anything of import, or even touches issues. They just like to stare at their nice shiny new toy. Then, they *claim* that they come over her to have a *discussion* and are deleted or banned for having a differing viewpoint. Well, perhaps if they weren’t disrespectful and rude (as they are over on their scum blog, and are proud of how *not serious* they are), and actually came over to discuss something RATIONALLY and not insult us, they’d get somewhere. All they do is try to come over and convert us to their own personal jesus, and claim that we are *making things up* or are *falsely ascribing behavior* to teh Precious by associating him *with his associates*. It would be refreshing if an Obot came over here and actually discussed something with us OTHER than Obama love. Of course, the typical Obot response will be that all we do is attack Obama. Well, in a democracy, that is MY DUTY. Obama doesn’t get a pass.

I missed ABG’s comments. I usually like to read them, b/c I have found him to be respectful and actually interested in our take (and doesn’t seem to be a concern tr&ll). I know others don’t like him. I’m sorry he’s angry again. Did he mention why?

  196. Whoa, Valhalla! I was quoting Angry Black Guy and proceeded to argue against his statement.

Please go back and read my post in its entirety.

  197. Isn’t it interesting how all the Oborgs say the same thing…Hillary lost because she ran a “poor” campaign, against a candidate who made no mistakes. Yeah, right. I guess they missed the RBC sham; the 9 out of the last 15 primaries won by Senator Clinton by huge margins; and I guess the popular vote 18,000,000 just never enters their little pea brains either. They all read from the same script; just like their candidate, scripted, phony, and to quote a 60’s term PLASTIC.

  198. I feel very deprived- I didn’t have the say and spell toy. I guess it’s the reason I am not of the “erudite” class.

  199. I think I am overwhelmed.

  200. Cwaltz:

When us old fogies were kids learning to read was easier cuz the alphabet only had 20 letters.

  201. I did have the Speak and Spell. It actually rocked, as did the Merlin.

  202. these people are SMI’S, seriously mentally ill. the lesson for me is to try to develop compassion and detachment toward them and self protection from the disease that they inject into the world.

  203. Well…I didn’t have any such accoutrements such as Speak and Spell. However we did have old fashioned spelling bees when I was in 8th grade and I won most of the time.

Now however, I’m screwed without spell check!

  204. My favorite Obot meme is that I must no longer be annoyed by what went down b/c Hillary is SOS. That makes everything all better.

Oh, and on New Year’s Eve, I was having a pleasant conversation with someone about how we both did not want Caroline Kennedy as Senator in NY and the person said “We already have one carpetbagger in the Senate.” This happened to coincide with the dropping of the stupid ball, and he said “and there she is!”

We were both guests at someone else’s home, so I kept my mouth shut. I know the Obot lurkers do not understand that concept.

  205. Oh, and the other “gem” I got from the blog that shall not be named is that, get this, apparently the babyboomers complacently sat around and ignored what was going on and allowed the country to essentially fall apart, and Obama is going to bring CHANGE to SAVE US ALL FROM OURSELVES! Apparently, this abject complacency entitles all Obots under the age of 30 to act like complete and utter wankfests and do/say whatever they want, b/c THEY DIDN’T FUCK THINGS UP IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! You see, they are ENTITLED to treat everyone like shit, b/c LOOK WHAT WE’VE DONE TO THEM. THE HORROR! THE HORROR! Of course, the first election I could even VOTE in was in 1992 but that is an inconvenient fact not worthy of their stupid attention, or grants me honorary membership in their shit clan.

  206. myiq, 20? Are you sure? I thought it was 57…
