Elvis

I hate Christmas.  Really!

I don’t know why I post this stuff.

  1. I found what I want for Christmas. I have 5 weeks of vacation starting next year (or a layoff, whichever comes first) so this is totally doable. And it looks fun, exotic and a little bit dangerous.

  2. This is my favorite Christmas song, myiq. And from the 1968 comeback special! Who could ask for more?

  3. What biblical events happened there, RD?

  4. One of the more recent Nova’s was all about the source material for the Blible and Gezer was mentioned because it was one of the towns that Solomon reinforced due to its strategic location between Jerusalem and the coast. Lots of good strata and pottery, bits of the first semitic writings and shit like that. Cooler than spit.

  5. That would be an amazing experience. I was just reading some of the stuff at the website. When I was a kid I dreamed of being an archaeologist. I used to read books about the excavation of Troy, Pompeii, and other ancient cities.

  6. BB:

I was gonna snarkily dedicate it to you, but I chickened out.

  7. My last big vacation was to Chichen Itza – the Mayan ruins in Yucatan, Mexico.

(Okay, I went to Cancun too, but ya sorta have to.)

After reading the mission statements of some of the sponsoring institutions, it should be interesting. Southern Baptists meet the “RD”…it would be fun to watch.*g*

  9. Snark is always appreciated, myiq2xu.

  10. In 1968 I was totally in love with Elvis. What a hunk!

  11. As perhaps the resident Confluentian archaeologist, I approve of RD’s choice. Of course, my degree is in Roman military stuff, but heh, archaeology is archaeology.
