The Public Humiliation of Hillary Clinton Continues

I have a great idea.

The Belstone Stocks, Dartmoor, UK

The Belstone Stocks, Dartmoor, UK

Why not just put Hillary in the stocks on the White House lawn on inauguration day and let passersby throw things at her? How fortunate for Sarah Palin and her family that she has returned to Alaska and can’t be put beside Hillary.

From the New York Post:

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s dream of overhauling the country’s health-care system as the steward of a new Senate subcommittee has reportedly flatlined.

The New York senator had made health-care reform the centerpiece of her presidential campaign. After bowing out of the race, Clinton pushed fellow Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy, the chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, to create a special health subcommittee for her to head.

But the Massachusetts senator, who’s battling brain cancer, has shot down that idea – all but dashing any hope Clinton had of pinning her legacy to universal coverage.

Michael Myers, Kennedy’s staff director on the committee, ended any speculation by telling the trade publication Inside Health Policy that Clinton would not chair a subcommittee. Kennedy will instead hold health-care proceedings at the full committee level, Myers said.

“In the end, it’s President Obama who’s going to lead the effort for us,” Myers told Inside Health Policy.

I’m guessing it will also be a cold day in hell before Obama lifts a finger to help Hillary pay off her campaign debt. Majority Leader? I’m not holding my breath. Someone please explain to me again: why did Hillary work so hard to help elect the Megalomaniacal One? Is this really his idea of unity? Oh wait. I get it now. “Unity” means “reaching across the aisle” to Republicans.

I guess Ted Kennedy (the “lion” of the Senate) never really wanted universal health care. Although I’m disillusioned, I’m glad it’s all out in the open now. Time for me to really snap out of my fantasy of what the Democratic Party stands for. FDR, Truman, JFK, and LBJ are all dead now. And so are their dreams of health care for all Americans; one person, one vote; and equal rights for all. The Democratic Party is no place for the poor, the sick, the troubled, women, or gays. We are all on the outside looking in now, along with the woman 18,000,000 of us voted for during the Democratic primaries.

Lion of the Senate? I’ll take a puma over a lion any day.

1. Hillary worked hard for Obama to save her career.

Mountain Sage

2. Mountain Sage,

It doesn’t look like that strategy worked very well for her, does it? Or am I missing something?

3. I don’t think Hillary will be “allowed” to have a career, in any meaningful sense, with OB and crew. He will never forgive her audacity in running against him. He hates woman more than my ex, and that’s one helluva lot of hate.

4. The first groups the Democratic party threw under the bus were the women and blue-collar voters. Then it’s the gays. Who’s up next?

5. Crap: woman = women

6. Hillary needs to leave the Party or push her agenda in a different way. She dared to stand up against The One. She must be punished until the end of her days.

I don’t think she quite understood how badly she’d be shut out if Obama were elected. It’s hard to see these things from the inside sometimes.

7. Afrocity – Now, that’s the way for LGBT’s to make their point – by being r*cists!!!

/snark

Jeezus Christmas, what is wrong with these people???

8. “I don’t think Hillary will be “allowed” to have a career, in any meaningful sense, with OB and crew.”

I wonder if Hillary knew that prior to campaigning for O.

9. I admit I have been angry at Hillary for campaigning so hard for Obama. I even went to see her do it in person to see if I could catch just a little of her enthusiasm and forgive her. But I can’t. Everyone who knows how hard I worked for her tells me she had to do it to save her career. Was she promised something we don’t know about? Is there something so deep and dark in her past that Obama knows and is using to blackmail her? Good god, did she really kill Vince Foster? I just cannot for the life of me figure out why she did this to herself and to us. Hillary won the election for Obama. What’s in it for her? What’s in it for us? We stood for her. Every step of the way. What is the payoff for her?

10. so I get deleted for trying to give you guys some info? I did not say that I was boycotting, I was saying what is up in Chicago.

Nevermind. I don’t know where I fit in here so I will go away.

11. afrocity – oh God, how awful.

From this one campaign cycle everything that matters to me has now been “reset ” back to the first half of the last century.

12. I don’t know how much more of the “lets humiliate Hillary bull” anyone can take. How far are they willing to go to humiliate and punish her for daring to run? How much more of this can she take? When does she say stop?

Hillary campaigned so hard for him thinking that she would advance her agenda under a democratic administration but she was wrong.

13. Hillary’s career doesnt need saving, she has accomplished more in her 35 years of service, helped more people than Obama would ever think of helping or give a second thought to.
He career has always been an honorable one, and still is today.
What Hillary really needed are friends who believe in loyalty, and understand what friendship really means.
I was devastated by the lack of support from her own party, watched while one after one they turned their backs on her. The DNC knew who our nominee would be years before the so-called voting began.
Hillary still has the support of the American people, we see the disrespect she has suffered at the hands of her own party, the sexism, we’ve been witness to it all.
Are we going to allow this to continue?
We have a responsibility to her, to our country and to all women, to stand up together and say that we will not allow this kind of treatment and double standard to continue.
The DNC is responsible and so is the MSM.
Hillary is still the senator of New York, and has much more work to do before she is through.
Those Americans who voted for the One, will see what their votes have caused us all.
We tried to protect all Americans from him, but the plan was in the making long before the announcement of running by BO.

14. Ah, more of the same: Obama Inc. needs something/someone to destroy on a constant basis, since they have never had a positive vision beyond empty slogans.

15. If myiq is out there, I hope your handsome cat is feeling better today. He’s a charmer, from that picture you posted!

16. samanthasmom – Hillary might have won Florida for Obama because of that stupid letter she wrote but she didn’t win the election for him. The republicans failed to back McCain 100%. McCain had so much on Obama about rezko, Wright and yet failed to use it to his advantage.

17. Although Hillary is not going to be provided an easier way (Senate committee) to move her health care agenda – she will find a way.

She is, afterall, Hillary.

18. I never realized how bad it was out there with the Obots until I went into San Francisco for the march Friday night. There truly are zombies spewing just wait – Obama will make things right. WTF — do people really need to cling on to someone else to feel good about themselves?

19. afrocity — I didn’t see the post, but it sounds like someone just misunderstood.

20. Afrocity, I bet the call for a boycott is either a fake “plant” or it is being made made by someone who is deranged. It makes no logical sense, and no one in Chicago would believe it.

Actually, the Obots seem to love making fake plants so they can hold onto their attitude of superiority by saying, “Look how st*pid the other side is.”

When you’re weak, it’s much easier to knock over a strawman to prove your strength than to fight something real… the Obots get this.

21. Afrocity, I didn’t notice that the comment was from you. It just didn’t read like a regular comment — or in your style.

But, I’d like to let everyone know that we have always moderated comments here — even regulars have always had posts deleted now and then.

So, Please don’t leave Afrocity.

22. afrocity — what? why don’t you think you belong?

23. alice – You know what other movement depends on negativity and hatred to survive?

Conservatism.

John Dean’s book, “Conservatives Without Conscience,” explains this in detail. Movement conservativism (a la 1994) has no historical basis, whereas the principles of liberalism are enshrined in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence. The Gingrich Conservatives have created think tanks and pundits that consistently rewrite history to “prove” this is not the case. Nevertheless, there are no guiding governing principles behind these conservatives. They are against gay marriage, against “judicial activism,” against abortion…but they have no positive theory of governing – in fact, they hate government and want to “drown it in the bathtub.”

I have to say that Obama seems to be running the same type of campaign. I have yet to figure out any positive principle that he stands for. I’m not holding my breath for him to show one, either.

24. I guess I missed something with Afrocity – who I hope doesn’t go away.

Boston said: The Democratic Party is no place for the poor, the sick, the troubled, women, or gays. We are all on the outside looking in now, along with the woman 18,000,000 of us voted for during the Democratic primaries.

This sounds like the antithesis of the Emma Lazarus saying, engraved on Lady Liberty – which perhaps will be scrubbed with the upcoming administration.

For essays, word count should be between 1000 and 4000 words. Shorter pieces, anecdotes and poems to bridge various sections will also be considered.

All contributors are required to include one paragraph which explains your involvement in this year’s historic campaign. Maybe you were a blogger, a fundraiser, an armchair observer, or someone who volunteered at the polls. It will help readers put your piece in perspective and understand you better. In addition, please submit a separate 100 word bio suitable for publication.

All submitted essays will be considered for publication but publication is not guaranteed. Remuneration will be one copy of the book. After publication, copyrights will revert back to contributors.

We’d like to get the book out as quickly as possible to capitalize on the energy related to this historic election. We are contacting publishers as we speak. Therefore, deadline for submissions are December 20, 2008. You may submit more than one essay although we are likely to only select one by each person to get the broadest view points.

Thank you for considering participating in this important project. The election may be over but its documentation is crucial as we go forward into a more progressive future. We look forward to hearing from each and every one of you. Open your hearts, tell us how you feel, how you have changed.

Sincerely,

Lynette Long
Joan Lipkin

27. AFROCITY PLEASE DONT GO …. I didnt even get to read your post … you sure as hell fit in here if ANYONE does yoU DO

28. “…just wait – Obama will make things right. WTF — do people really need to cling on to someone else to feel good about themselves?”

LOL! Yes, yes they do! Obots are VERY needy.

“Faith in a holy cause is to a considerable extent a substitute for the lost faith in ourselves.” -Hoffer’s True Believer This little book is so worth the read.

29. I hope you don’t hate me for writing that much…you can pull it off. It’s important that your voices….and confucians are a unique part of this time in history/herstory.

xoxoxoxoxo

30. I think Hill and Bill should each do another book deal, then go on a speaking tour. At that point, they will have amassed enough funds to buy a major media outlet. Now that would be something.

31. screw them all!

32. So, It is wrong to boycott businesses if they support anti-gay (I agree a blanket boycott and the waiter/waitress stuff was over the top) if they happen to be black owned? Or to decide not to tip someone if they also show that same bigotry?

I would really like to know why it is ok to march and protest outside of Mormon Churches and not to do the same with black churches and businesses and yes politicians that exhibit the same kind of bigotry. Of course, we should make sure that these truly are bigoted and not just target people because they happen to be black.

I hope that this comment is not deleted and I hope that we can discuss these types of measures in a reasonable, logical manner.

33. BB, I deleted it.

34. I was deleted once for using barry’s middle name — otherwise — my stuff isn’t that important or controversial. I saw my deletion as a right of passage !!!

I find this place so safe !! thank you !!

afrocity — you know we need you — we need your insight, your humor and most of all your friendship.

35. Hillary is playing for time, not speed. She’s taking the long view. What seems unreachable today will be demanded next year. Obama’s star will fall. He will prove incapable of crafting reasonable legislation and when that happens, the door opens back up for her.

She is campaigned for him because she is creating a dynamic where she can, inevitably, get as much done as possible. She has tremendous credibility within the US. More people voted for her in the primaries than have ever voted for anyone in the primaries before – think about that. She turned a huge amount of Democrats out and utterly thwarted the DNC plan. She is immensely popular.

Hillary is a powerhouse and her career cannot be ended by anyone but her. She’s enormously popular in New York and sidelining her will only cost the Democrats in fundraising.

I’m betting she has her best year ever.

36. afrocity, it seems as if you’ve had a really bad weekend here. I’m sorry. I enjoy your comments and I hope things get better for you.

I didn’t expect there to be any real progress on healthcare due to the budget but the comment of the aide was just a big old F/U to Hillary. These people are seriously mentally disturbed.

I’m thinking a woman’s party may be the way to go.

37. Lori – you are very optimistic. It is just too sad that Hillary is not using the power that many say she has.

38. Man arrested for wearing a McCain/Palin t-shirt at an Obama after-party in Philly (city of brotherly love)…

39. Hillary promised to support the nominee and she did. Silly woman that she is, believing in keeping her word.
Hillary was set up. This shit has been in the works since at least 2004. The delay in sorting Michigan out? The slow gerrymandering that made the AA districts have almost double the delegates others had?
let us be serious here.

40. afrocity – I think it is extreme what they are suggesting. Boycotting all shops owned by AA is going to lead to more racial tensions.

41. Afrocity, we need you here. My pastor at church this morning tried really hard to say that however the election turned out there would be folks who would be really hurting. I guess I’m one of those folks. I tend to dig inward and just get more depressed. Thank G-d for the Confluence. And thank G-d for you.

(Start the BeatBox.)
Afrocity,
it would be such a pity,
if I couldn’t find
you sharing your mind
and your heart, so strong
so smart, stay true
(stay true), stay strong
(stay strong) . . . be Afrocity.

42. I’ve even deleted some of my own comments

43. State … oh, thank you sooo much! I’m dying laughing here. I remember seeing the original episode. That lady (and her bitchy church lady friends) were so craaaazeee!!! But hilarious.

I gotta watch it over and over.

44. Alice:

Thank you for asking – he’s sleeping right now

45. Downticket,

How do you know she isn’t using the power? I mean, really, how do you know?

Look – this thing with Kennedy holding health care hearings was announced months ago. Not long after he endorsed Obama. The Kennedys” don”t have a major legislative accomplishment to match the legendary quality of their name. I have no doubt that Kennedy would very much like his name to be on the universal health care bill – after all, it”s an issue he’s worked on for generations as well. My totally unfounded suspicion is that putting the Kennedy name on the universal health care bill is what won his endorsement for Obama.

What Clinton is going to be working for is getting the right plan. She”ll be about the policy. Kennedy will be about the title. If that’s what it takes to get a decent universal healthcare policy then I have no doubt that Clinton is saying, so be it. Wouldn’t you?

Ayres opinion piece today accuses Clinton of spreading the Ayres smear – as if hanging out with a guy who tried to blow up the pentagon wouldn’t catch the GOP’s attention. This whole group stinks to high heaven of entitlement. I think BB is right about the intelligence link – makes more sense than anything I have heard.

46. I have deleted my own comments too. We are lucky we have the ability to change our minds.

I’m researching the information that Afrocity posted and if I can find a good link, I’ll post it again. We are all so senstive about being called racists, even though there is nothing we can do about it at this point. Back soon.

47. My big fantasy (and no way in hell it can be a reality) is that Hillary is waiting until Oblahblah and the Democratic Congress fails – and when she runs for reelection she’ll declare the party dead and run as an Independent. At the same time she’ll also be running for President as an Independent, with Michael Bloomberg as her VP (and paying a billion or so dollars for the campaign.) Don’t wake me up!

48. There is nothing about PUMAs on that video just some lady screaming about the dark side

49. I’m back from worshiping the “real” Jesus instead of the Teleprompter one. It was very nice. I prayed for all of us here, including your cat myiq.
Afrocity, don’t you dare leave — I will hunt you down.
Hillary is smarter then BO is — she might be down now, but I wouldn’t bet on her being out.

50. It’s troubling that people do not protest in front of Trinity Chicago, etc. Perhaps it is out of fear that “they” do not. Regardless, that a bastion of hatred should be allowed to proceed unchallenged is one thing. That a nation should even countenance one of it’s long time members as fit to be president is beyond words. Hatred is ok as long as it is the right kind of hatred, the acceptable kind.

When it comes to one community A, we must tip toe on egg shells lest we should disturb hyper-sensitivities, even though A just voted en mass to trample community B and succeeded. Yes, let us all be polite and quietly behave.

51. Good nickname:

“Teleprompter Jesus”

Hope it sticks.

52. Afrocity,

I hope you are still here. I can’t find any news stories yet about the national boycott of black businesses you heard about. I don’t doubt that you saw the flyers. I am going to keep your comment for future reference.

If there is such a boycott, we need to publically oppose it. Punishing businesses because some people voted for Prop 8 isn’t going to solve anything, IMHO. If you do find a link, please post it. We wouldn’t want to post the entire flyer here, because it is really offensive. I realize you were only asking about it, not supporting it.

Interestingly, I found out that John Avrosis is leading the boycott against the Morman Church. That’s pretty amazing, since he supported Obama and published unbelieveably misogynogistc stuff at his blog, which I will not name.

http://ontopmag.com/article.aspx?id=2685&MediaType=1&Category=26

53. “In the end, it’s President Obama who’s going to lead the effort for us,” Myers told Inside Health Policy.

That last sentence in the quote from Myers reminded me of something. During W’s reign, in 2004, Ireland invited bill Clinton over to help them with peace talks. The next thing we heard was a similar statement “W will handle it” and it was the last thing we heard of Ireland. Soon after , W blamed clinton of the ME violence – “he raised their expectations with all the peace talks” he then said it was the stupid press secretary who said it. 2 days later, he blurted again.
By having figured W, I think I know B0, quite well.

54. jvsp–“When it comes to one community A, we must tip toe on egg shells lest we should disturb hyper-sensitivities, even though A just voted en mass to trample community B and succeeded. Yes, let us all be polite and quietly behave.”

I’m all for equality, but one group should not be more equal than another group…It seems that women and gays are being told to toe the line for the good of the country.

55. afro city: Hope you’ll be back. I’m a major lurker and I enjoy your unique voice.

56. If Hillary became an Independent tomorrow, I’d leave the party and join her. But that will never happen. Sorry if this is insensitive but I could care less about Ted Kennedy. I didn’t have that much respect for him back when I was in college and met him as an intern in Washington and he completely lost my respect when he endorsed Obama which was basically permission for all the other major superdelegates to abandon Hillary.

These people are willing to do anything to hold onto their own power. Ted Kennedy wants HIS legacy to be health care before he dies and he doesn’t want Hillary to have any part in it. He also knows that Hillary will fight whatever half-assed plan Obama has in store so Ted is also protecting Obama from any scrutiny or possibility that Hillary might outshine him.

Trust me, Obama is not going to give this country universal health care. And if he does it will be from stealing Hillary’s ideas and working with her former advisers. But this is what men have always done to women. They steal our ideas and take credit for them.

57. eof–it’s interesting that you typed B0, not BO.

58. I have to confess, that before I started hanging around you guys I did not like Hillary all that much. But what I have learned here has caused me develop a lot more respect. I try to make my judgements on a persons actual record, which means battling ones way thru a lot of media spin. I must also confess that I was guiilty of not doing that with “Miss” HIll. I know my aunts and cousins up in Arkansas have always loved her.

I dont think you can count the “hill-billies” out they may actually still own a sizeable chunk of the centerist part of the Democrat party. you have to take a long view of these things

I have a little game for yall. since you watch some of these things much closer than I. You crafty quiet watchful predators. See how many times you can catch Barry parroting something Hill came up with first. As in ” oh yeah, Hillary said that last week ” or 2 months/years ago. I think you will make a very long list

I think Obama is in for real shocks on how he is now going to be watched every second and every step. Someday the press will go back to doing their job and you wont be able to throw them all off the plane. In the mean time let them have their fun. Be gracious. I will continue to be gracious even if things go sour evntually. My I told you so’s will only be a short preface to “well what to we do now to fix this”

I like you guys, but yall are sooo bad for my cyber addiction. Outside the sun is shining and its a beautiful day……I must……. just move away from the keyboard, and dont make any sudden moves

59. In case comments posters at The Confluence haven’t experienced this personally, this is a heads up. I had this happen at other blogs with open comments. Evidently it’s a (lame) strategy from Obama’s vaunted army of pesterers to vanquish heretics who are not down with Teh One.

Someone posting a comment perceived to “threaten” Obama — say, questioning an on-the-record action or statement directly breaking an O-promise — can return and find that a faithful Obama sock puppet using the same handle has posted a slew of egregiously wacko comments to “discredit” the heretic-slash-racist that I clearly am by not being on board with the movement.

That’s as clever as a bowl of rocks ain’t it?

I only noticed this because I don’t comment on very many blogs and went back to follow the conversation on a topic that interested me.

I’m not invested in “correcting” the inner netz and in any case, if the super geniuses want to eat into their oPod plans this way, no skin off my ass.

60. It’s a long way to 2012, folks. Hillary knows what she’s doing. We should know more after the new congress is in session. Besides, Kennedy cannot be too sure yet. After all, his health is in the balance.

I maintain that the Bushes are responsible for McCain’s defeat. The economic crisis was perfectly timed to sink McCain; proof of that is Bernanke’s endorsement of Obama which no Fed. Chairman has ever done before. Bernanke after all was appointed by Bush. McCain was never given any heads-up by the Bush adm. McCain was shut down for the same reasons as Hillary.

Reform or mavericks are not allowed anywhere near the seats of power. One should never speak of looking into defense contracts, or remove special privileges for oil companies. Remember the oil exploration contract in Iraq awarded to a Bush controlled entity.

61. BB .. so far , the only one I found was on craigs list .. in Chicago ..

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/rnr/911574831.html

no flyer’s

62. “It seems that women and gays are being told to toe the line for the good of the country.”

Yes, say not a word lest your being run over should cause a commotion. Oh dear!

63. Oh, they are definitely on the war path against the Clintons – that tells me everything I need to know about the power struggle in place. Did you see the Yahoo headline that popped up within the past few minutes about whether ex-presidents can go broke with a picture of Bill? Yikes. If the Clintons didn’t continue to be a major threat, this wouldn’t be going on. But Obama has no way to bring the Clintons down. And they cannot erase the Clintons from the history books anymore than Bush could. All the shit Bush dumped on the Clintons after Bill left office didn”t ultimately touch them – this won”t either.

Obama is a flash in the pan. Like Bush, he must deliver. Like Bush, he probably won’t. When he fails to deliver, the Clintons willl remain the people who did deliver.

There is a reason Clinton campaigned for Obama and she was not forced to do it. She’s racking up her chits. And she will cash them in at some point in the future. And Obama may think he has the final say over when she cashes them, but her celebrity makes it very risky for him to say no – especially if he isn”t doing well himself.

64. Briana,

That’s pretty grim. I guess the Uniter II isn’t doing any better at uniting us than Uniter I did.

65. Lori,

Thanks I needed that. I have been so tired of the Hillary and Bill bashing while they are the example of loyalty. I am also tired of them being called Hill Billies.

I will always believe that HILLARY WAS THE BEST CANDIDATE THAT JUST HAPPENED TO BE A WOMAN.

66. Great point, Lori.

“her celebrity makes it very risky for him to say no – especially if he isn”t doing well himself.”

May I add that I don’t want afrocity to go?

67. kbird – not sure what you are saying to me about TC policy.

If you will check the time of my response about “the first half of the last century” you will note it is in response to the unfortunate verbabge in the flyer that afrocity said is being displayed in Chicago. You apparently removed the flyer post before my response to it posted and thus you seem to think I was posting about the removel decision you made. Please check the time – I did not comment on your decision nor to I question TC policy.

I really don’t appreciate being admonished for something I did not do.

68. Lori – maybe it is me seeing Hillary as a victim right now because all I see is someone who is being treated badly and sadly she isn’t doing anything about it. I need to believe that something good has to come out of this election of Obama. Him being the first black president is sadly not one of them because I don’t believe he deserved or earned that honor. I thought he might be good for the palestinians but sadly it seems he has thrown them under the bus by hiring Rahm. There is no silver linning in this. Hillary gave up being president for him. I don’t see how she is getting anything out of it. When will Obama thank her for campaigning for him or calling her and apologizing for having contributed in the race baiting or just thank her for her ideas that he continues to steal. He never gave her any credit. She is being disrespected and just accepting it. What has Hillary gotten out of conceding to Obama?

SOD – I thought she was screaming too much and none of the things she said made any sense.

69. That really pisses me off!

Yes! I was more than upset when Hillary decided to hang it up. I still believe that she should have taken it to a floor fight and forced those party bigwigs on record!
Now we will probably never know who sold us out. With the exception of the most visible ones that is!

Sadly, there will not be room for her in the “New” Democratic Party!
As a man who loves a woman’s mind as much as I do everything else about them….Oh do I love EVERYTHING about them,,,Hehehe…..I am deeply saddened today for the prospects for ALL women today!

Ladies and Gentleman, we are witnessing the death of the feminist movement!

They cite stem cel research and oil drilling reversals as what he “

72. SOD – now I get it 🙂

73. No red dragon62! I refuse to accept that. I believe we are witnessing the REBIRTH of the feminist movement. The 3rd Wave distraction is behind us. Racism is now a dead issue.

Just like the abolition of slavery paved the way for 1st Wave Feminism and the Black Civil Rights movement paved the way for the 2nd Wave, the election of obama now clears our way for a real 4th Wave.

The Puma Movement IS a feminist movement. Moreso now than ever with Hillary no longer the focus (not that she’s not important — she IS) but she is not the singular FOCUS.

that’s my story and I’m sticking with it!

74. Ladies and Gentleman, we are witnessing the death of the feminist movement!
RedDragon62, death brings about new life.
Modern feminism was born in the 1970’s because of the anti-War Movement’s betrayal of women and the refusal of young, male leftists to see their “old ladies” as equals.
It’s happening all over again and I’m convinced that young women will begin a “Fourth Wave.”

75. “There’s a lot that the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action, and I think we’ll see the president do that,” Podesta said.”

what else does he intend on doing without congressional action?

76. I see murphy said it all and first.

77. SweetSue> But it seems like the majority of young women sided with Obama and saw nothing wrong with how women were treated this election cycle. It’s the older women who were and seeing red. Young women are seeing nothing but the big O in the sky!

78. Yes…you have a point.

80. crickets

81. sorry for the double post…thats what I get for trying to type fast! Typos!

82. downticket–now THAT is the question. But need we ask? I shudder to think….

83. It’s very obvious that the subtext of this campaign has been about slapping down women and putting them in their place. There’s a clear, repeated message. “Iron my shirts.” What’s so depressing is that so many women who support Obama can’t see what they have enabled. Supporting is all they are allowed to do: anything more and they will be faced with the scold’s bridle. Often applied by another woman.

84. murphy, with you!

85. See you tonight, puma family.

86. It’s time for Bill and Hill to start their own 3rd party. They obviously are not wanted in the Democratic Party. Heaven knows, she has 18 MILLION supporters to help get another party started. She should start it right NOW. She should take a page from BO’s playbook…amass more $$$$$$$ than she will ever need, buy off the networks, learn hypnosis techniques and learn to use her femininity as a tool to hit people over the head when they insult her or don’t agree with her…she can call everyone a misogynist and since she will have total control over the MSM that she has bought off, they will happily oblige her in helping to push that meme. Get going Bill and Hill!

87. I think the one thing that bothers me about Hillary doing the overdrive campaigning is that she was made a sort of symbol of ‘CAMPAIGN MY SHIRT’ and the looks of those little girls that showed up to the rallys with their signs of ‘I can be president too’ went silent.

You didn’t see Carolyn Kennedy out there…
You didn’t see Oprah out there…
You didn’t see Maria Shriver out there…
You didn’t see the Hollywood women out there…

It was Hillary, doing the work and in the end she gets a slap of a thank you. That is what I think hurts the most for me. Ted Kennedy, who left a woman in the water to die, and didn’t report it…will get the reward of the woman’s hard work. NOT FAIR IS IT?!?

88. If Obama fails, the Repubs will take over in 2012. If he does well enough, Dems have another 4 years to change our gov. so we may not recognize it. Who knows if Repubs would be able to regain in 2016. Certainly Hillary’s light becomes dimmer by then, as does Palin’s.

89. I’m with you, Murph.

90. Woman Voter . .Crap ..!!

i’m pizzzzed all over again .

“Campaign My Shirt ” ….. you nailed it..

91. But it seems like the majority of young women sided with Obama and saw nothing wrong with how women were treated this election cycle. It’s the older women who were and seeing red. Young women are seeing nothing but the big O in the sky!

I know but I believe these young women will wake up and raise the conciousness, again.
It’s hard to accept, but it really seems that every other generation or so has to re-figure it out and work it’s own salvation.

92. Executive orders to achieve immediate action — from one dictatorship to another. Even if they are things we want, what a game we are playing.

Murphy — I feel the same sense as you do about the next wave of feminism. I see signs of the grass roots using their energy to initiate pragmatic changes — in addition to everything you are doing. I also feel that the movement was fairly dead by the early 1990s, but the signs of death were not well recognized. It is definitely time for a full and vital resurrection! The more women get shut out, the angrier we are going to get — with the exception of a few who have been brainwashed.

93. Alexei,

The comment that you are talking about was the text of a flyer that Afrocity saw being passed out in Chicago. The flyer was racist because it contained some very specific racial slurs. It is fine to point out that black votes helped elect Obama and also pass Prop 8. But general statements about an entire race of people are not acceptable.

94. Thanks, Briana. In my opinion that flyer is racist. I am very angry about what happened in California and Florida too. And I’m glad that GLBT people are protesting publicly. But a lot of GLBT voted for Obama too, unfortuanately. Why didn’t they pay attention to his homophobic actions?

96. Lori,

Thank you so much for your wonderful, positive comment. You’ve given me hope to fight another day. I just really have a hard time with the meanspirtedness of the way Hillary is being disrespected. When will it be enough to satisfy Obama’s narcissitic rage? I’m afraid nothing will ever be enough. But I’m reprinting your comment because it is so hopeful.

Thanks again.

97. Obama mentioned executive orders several times during the election season. As authoritarian as he is, he is likely to abuse that kind of power. Does anyone know what kind of restrictions are in place on executive orders?

98. Angie,

Can I go with you to Chicago to find Afrocity? I need her here. She makes me laugh when I get down.

I might just go hunt Pat down one of these days too. She lives near me.

I am glad my family is out, because I have been having a sort of mourning of not only losing( with all that went on) but of losing a bit of dignity in the process too. Big boys like Ted Kennedy weren’t made to campaign for Carter, they were seeing as standing their ground. Women, well there are different expectations all together.

I have supported a system with my time, money and love that betrayed women and decided before giving the voters a choice. That latter is the far greater grievance of all.

100. jules,

I’m worried about executive orders too. I just hope he can’t create his “civilian security force” by executive order.

101. bb –if she doesn’t come back in a couple of days we’re going!

102. Downticket,

Hillary’s place in the history books is secure. Her extraordinary level of progressive accomplishment is established and respected. She isn’t humiliated by any of this. She’s about as liberated from humiliation as a person can be. None of this would be happening if they had anyway to touch her. This is just like Bush claiming the Clinton”s had trashed the White House.

The simple fact of the matter is that Obama has no history of getting anything done. His chief of staff is one of the leaders of congress who has been responsible for congress’ popularity rating sliding to it’s lowest level ever. And he’s got Joe Biden as his VP – big deal. Kerry – Kerry”s gonna be SOS? You think he’s gonna do a better job than Warren Christopher or Madeleine Albright? he couldn”t even fight off the Republicans – how is going to deal with Russia? And Larry Summers who thinks women are innately inferior in math and science is going to be SOT? hahahahaha – oh, that’s gonna work out well.

Might I suggest that all of this stuff is happening because the obama camp wants you to feel shame? Instead of feeling what the want you to feel, thwart them. This is one more haka just like every other one we faced down.

As for Hillary getting stuff done, Congress isn’t in session now. No congress critter is getting anything done. Give it a year or two. she’ll be clearcutting these jokers.

103. I’m just wondering…

Maybe Hillary has been promised a seat on the Supreme Court? If so, maybe they can’t reveal that in advance of a nomination? It’s been said that Ruth Bader Ginsberg wants to retire, so her seat is going to open soon after the inauguaration.

Since Hillary IS, after all, a lawyer, she’s certainly qualified for that position. And it would explain a lot about the committee assignments.

104. “But a lot of GLBT voted for Obama too, unfortuanately. Why didn’t they pay attention to his homophobic actions?”

BB, I was RAGING the other night on a zombie thread about Melissa Etheridge and Ellen D. being upset NOW! What about when they totally supported Obama’s ass?

105. I have a feeling that BO will try to satisfy both far ends of the political spectrum and end up ticking everyone off. Republicans like to boast about Reagan and Dems about Clinton, but they both were most successful with a divided government that kept them from going off the rails. BO is in the position of having a favorable Congress that will try to take him left, but he won’t go there for fear of losing his “bipartisan” label, so he will try to throw them some bones and stay center. The right will be ticked off at the bones he throws the left and bring teleprompter Jesus up for a midterm virtual crucifixion.

106. Look if Hillary wants a real political career she needs to decide if she wants to run for President again. If not she needs to dump the party the way Lieberman did. Is it the easy way? NO. But there is no longer any effective easy choice for her. She should wait for a public show down with her party and then dump them and be the center piece of a new centrist movement. You can accomplish a lot if you don’t care who gets the credit (forget who said that). She can not win the Presidency as an Independent but she can be a Democratic spoiler. That is where her power lies. Kennedy is a dead man walking and the little weasels who run his Senate office are about to be out of work. They are irrelevant. Also wake up! the Dems are not going to deal with health care or take the troops out of Iraq in 16 months.

108. Raiders fumble opening kick-off at the 16 yd line

I shoulda stayed in bed

109. Mamapajama,

You cannot promise anyone a position in an administration. it’s illegal to do so. that’s why the chatter about kerry is so hush hush.

Clinton has said for the record that she does not want the Supreme Court. So, I’m betting that isn’t it. Obama can agree to support her on initiatives in Congress, or any other number of things but we don’t know what the deal was yet. She clearly is building something or she would have walked away from the campaign trail. No one as smart and effective as Clinton works that hard without a very specific goal in mind.

110. Here’s to hoping Hillary sees the writing on the wall and jettisons the Democratic brand. If the independant brand can get some people who are established already in DC that may indeed be the way to get a third option going. Have we considered a coordinated email campaign asking Hillary to go Independant so that voters can truly get beyond red and blue. Any ideas?

111. Here are some questions I have.

Are Inner circle Democrats even worried about how they communicate with women voters or do they think everything is just fine as long as they dish up gossip on Michelle’s wardrobe?

Now that we have established that a black man with little relevant experience can be elected President in the USA isn’t their race card no longer a trump card?

Because there are some really old Liberal Supreme Court judges who will likely quit this year and BO will probably appoint 3 young liberal male judges to the court, the court will be stabilized for the next 30 years
So how will the Dems communicate with female voters when they can no longer threaten them with loss of their reproductive rights? It seems to me they would be motivated to keep their favorite threat fresh by appointing non Roe v Wade supporters.

112. Lori,

I could buy these explanations more easily if Obama had helped Hillary with her debt. I don’t think he can do it now the election season is over.

113. As for the boycott

If it starts a dialogue on who deserves”equality” then I am all for it, even if it is radical. What occured in first, South Carolina and Second, in California was totally unacceptable.

114. I am leaving also if I don’t received an apology from katiebird. As moderator she admonished me for something I did not do.

Apparently she can not figure out that I was not commenting on her actions because of her own deletions.

115. Lori:

$12 million dollars is what she is working for, or whatever her remaining debt is.

That’s a big reason to campaign for someone.

And Obama is trying to humiliate her, she just won’t let it show.

116. My guess is that Democrats figure they have women and gays between a rock and a hard place. They are generally pretty slow on the uptake.

117. I don’t expect Obama to appoint liberal judges. All the talk is that he will appoint Cass Sunnstein from U. Chicago. After all, Obama wanted to vote for Roberts.

118. scrubs

Yours is the million dollar question. Why did gays not realize the writing was on the wall after South Carolina. They were jettisoned in the same way some women were jettisoned on partial birth. The democrats have moved right socially. The problem is that leaves no homes for many.

119. Oh and for the record, I could care less with how Dems “communicate with me.” I don’t speak with people who have the audacity to give me the finger when I tell them to count the votes.

120. Dee,

Katiebird probably hasn’t seen your comment yet. The last I heard she was taking a walk. She also has many family responsibilities. I think people need to realize that Riverdaughter, Katiebird, Myiq2xu, and all the the other bloggers here (including myself) work very hard to come up with content every day and to keep the comment threads free of trolls and rudeness. None of us is paid for our many hours of work each week.

Right now we are undergoing a transition from the campaign to deal with Obama as President. Everyone is feeling uneasy. I don’t see how turning on each other is helpful. I don’t know of any blog where you are going to get an instant answer from the blogowner or the monitor. If that is so frustrating that you can’t stand it, then you will have to decide what to do, as we all would.

121. Lori – thanks for that image of Kerry negotiating with the Russia. I hope you are right about Hillary’s future.

myiq2xu – Obama can’t pay down her debt. Hillary raised 10 million for him during the GE.

122. Yes, the window for Obama to help with the debt is closed now, so that can’t be what she was working for. She campaigned for him up to the last day and she was the first to congratulate him.

123. BB

There needs to be a venting thread in my opinion. That way there is an opportunity for everyone to get things off their chest. We have had alot of good people leave. I do understand that blog owners have a say over the content on their site but I think that their are some who feel their positions are being disrespected by the removal of their posts.

124. Downticket:

Obama can tell his donors to help her. Supposedly he already did but they haven’t, which leads me to believe he used it as a club held over her. She also spent about $10 million of her and Bill’s own money they ain’t getting back

125. As far as the debate on who can get married goes it is a waste of time especially for women’s groups who should be focused on problems that face no less than 70% of women. Further, having been married twice I can’t figure out why Gay people want to do it. If it is for health care then fixing the health care system so everyone can get it solves the problem.

I think the way for Gays to go would be to put forward some really stupid parts of the current law. For instance I have a friend who is married to the father of her three children. He had a sex change operation 10 years ago and now calls himself the children’s Aunt and is an active loving parent. He lives in a different state but is wealthy and flys in to visit most weekends. She is not a lesbian so their sexual relationship has been over for years. Is it still legal for her to be married to him? Going further she/he lives as a lesbian and has a woman friend whom she/he lives with. If he weren’t already married would it be legal for she/he to marry this woman? If not why is he legally married to the mother of his children now? It just gets more and more ridiculous. Clearly everyone should be able to marry whomever they feel like and not waste the governments time with it. But I still think Gay people should be careful what they ask for, i is questionable if marriage as an institution has served anyone very well.

126. Yeah, a vent thread! Excellent idea. (Though we do a pretty good job of it on the night shift.)

I used to belong to a gay board that had a vent thread. It was good because nobody took anything personally that ended up in there.

Personally, I think we all have damned good reason to vent right now.

127. if afrocity is reading….come back.

128. CWaltz,

I don’t know of anyone who has left because their comments were deleted. I’ll pass the venting thread suggestion on to Riverdaughter.

I have to say, I’m feeling a little unappreciated myself at the moment. I have poured my heart and soul into this blog, and because of one post out of the hundreds and hundreds that RD has written, people have stormed out. I can’t help that. I have often disagreed with RD and other contributors. I didn’t leave because I think people have the right to disagree.

People come and go on blogs all the time. There are people that I still miss, like UpstateNY. I don’t know why he left. I think this place just got too Republican for him. Others are probably turned off by all the bickering and bullying lately. It’s the nature of the beast.

129. scrubs57: garychapelhill at Electric Blues has been blowing a major gasket over Melissa Etheridge too.

Violet Hill – Coldplay

Was a long and dark December
From the rooftops I remember
There was snow
White snow

Clearly I remember
From the windows they were watching
While we froze
Down below

When the future’s architectured
By a carnival of idiots on show
You’d better lie low

If you love me
Won’t you let me know?

Was a long and dark December
When the banks became cathedrals
And the fog
Became God

Priests clutched onto bibles
Hollowed out to fit their rifles
And the cross was held aloft

Bury me in armor
When I’m dead and hit the ground
A love back home unfolds

If you love me
Won’t you let me know?

I don’t want to be a soldier
Who the captain of some sinking ship
Would stow, far below

So if you love me
Why’d you let me go?

I took my love down to Violet Hill
There we sat in snow
All that time she was silent still

So if you love me
Won’t you let me know?

If you love me,
Won’t you let me know?

Why not put up an unmoderated thread? We can post a warning that anything goes so anyone with sensitive feelings should stay away.

132. yeah riverdaughters post was unexpected, but understandable. It’s no big deal, I don’t understand why anyone would leave, but I do believe if they belong here, they will gravitate back.

133. btw, it’s the line about

I look forward to reading the posts here regardless of whether or not I agree. FWIW, here’s my thank you!!! Please keep writing. I believe that when things settle down people will realize what they are missing and return. 🙂

135. I think we are all depressed about what happened. I can’t stop crying for the death of democracy. Is that what this is? Because that is what it feels like, and why I am mourning.

“Republicans like to boast about Reagan and Dems about Clinton, but they both were most successful with a divided government that kept them from going off the rails.”

Before the Bush administration, I would not have understood the truth of this statement. Bush went off the rails BECAUSE he had a Republican Congress, and both Bush and the Republican Congress let party politics trump the checks and balances of the branches (on spending, policy, etc.) that the Founding Fathers intended.

141. Myiq2xu,

It’s OK with me, but I’m not the blogowner. Do you want to put up a thread and sort of be a moderater of the discussion? I’m exhausted at this point and I need to get some of my own work done sometime today. I e-mailed RD, but I don’t know when I’ll hear back. But any decisions about the blog policies are up to RD.

Truthfully, I think we need a support thread. Last night did wonders for my state of mind–just laughing together. I’m sure you would handle it well, so go ahead and put up something. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

142. Bostonboomer:

I appreciate you. Moderating is hard because you have to sit and watch and if you’re on the admin screen you can’t participate in the discussions.

The hours are long and the pay imaginary. it’s like being a volunteer janitor.

The tro!!s are easy, it’s when friends are pushing the envelope that’s tough.

I’ve given multiple warnings and had them ignored, and then had people get all butt-hurt when I finally deleted something. Maybe they weren’t the original offender but they were the “next” one I said I was gonna delete.

“The next person who says ___________ will get their comment deleted!”

143. I think I had some posts deleted, I don’t know why and don’t really care that much. You are stuck with me, and I will support you all however long it takes to get the truths out. You are on the right side of truth so that is all that matters.

144. Im not upset, I’m angry about this cycle. I’d say the anger I feel right now towards the democratic party is about equal to the anger I felt at george Bush for saying that Americans that didn’t support the Iraq war were terrorist lovers and unpatriotic.

bb

I know that Afrocity is upset because apparently something she put about the boycotts in Chicago was moderated. There is ALOT of tension here. I know things change and priorities change for folks I just hate that alot of people are leaving with negative feelings, particularly since for many this was an oasis for so long.

145. ((((bostonboomer)))))))

I appreciate you and love reading your viewpoint.

146. Hail Mary Hillary, on November 9th, 2008 at 4:02 pm

Hail Mary Hillary, on November 9th, 2008 at 4:10 pm Said:
————————————————————————-

I agree with both of these points. I was pretty dismayed reading a lot of the posts here until I saw those. Most of you are way too nice – and possibly naive. Anger is the most congruent emotion in my mind. And it should be followed by action, not hope, if we want real change.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Hillary were promised something that was already taken away from her now that BO got his prize. I hope she got any agreements in writing in any case. She may have been threatened or coerced into submission with talks that the party would run and support someone against her in NY next time around. Or her inexplicable behavior may be exclusively about the campaign debt. Did you all see how Joe Lieberman looked after he came out of that meeting with Harry Reid? We’ve got a bunch of thugs running the government, and they rule with sticks, not carrots.

On another note, rarely do Supreme Court justices come from Congress – and why would Hillary want to be stuck in that closet when she is such an effective legislator/work horse and loves interacting with her constituents? That was floated out there for PR reasons, no doubt.

On a related note, Melissa Etheridge told the State of CA that she and her partner will no longer be paying state taxes – since they have been stripped of their rights as citizens. She said Ellen DeGeneres and other Hollywood bigwigs were on board as well. That’s hitting back where it hurts, and it could be particularly effective in a State that is constantly on the verge of bankruptcy. They all may still support BO out there – the two things have nothing more to do with each other than Prop. 8 has to do with AA’s in Chicago.

147. Thanks so much, SOD and JVSP. I wasn’t fishing for pats on the back, although they are always appreciated. And I really don’t take it personally. I love talking to all of you. I don’t know how I could have survived the last year without this blog. I probably would be clinically depressed at this point.

I guess what bothers me is I don’t think sometimes people realize exactly how hard RD has worked. She has a family too. She really does need to get a little down time at some point. She started this blog at the end of last year, and at first got no attention to speak of. She wrote a post every single day and bucked us up when we were down. Maybe I’ll write an appreciation of her.

148. {{{{CWaltz}}}}

Thank you! Maybe after myiq leads the “b%$ch thread we can all have a group hug?

149. I kinda like the idea of a gratuitous cursing thread or a primal scream thread. It might help.

150. BB:

You want me to do it now or wait for RD’s okay?

Moderating will be easy – I won’t have to

151. Is myiq still here? Maybe he’s finding a really creepy, disgusting picture to put on his post.

152. Apparently the Democratic Party can now carry the mantle of the Hypocrite Party. After moaning and whining about Bush and executive orders guess who plans to be doing the same.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081109/ap_on_go_pr_wh/obama

I’ll give you one hint. He sucks.

153. myiq2xu,

I just heard from RD. She said a venting thread is a good idea. When I say moderate, I mean stay there and read the comments and react if necessary. And we still can’t have insults and attacks on each other. Does that sound OK?

154. When I say no attacks, I don’t mean you can’t address criticism to someone else. Just do it politely without calling names, etc.

155. And please don’t threaten or wish for someone’s death.

156. Here is a nice video for Hillary Clinton

Thank You – by HRCin08

http://vodpod.com/watch/978851-thank-you-

157. BB, back to the original topic……I think Ted Kennedy really resents the Clintons. I felt that very strongly during the convention. he wanted it to be a baton pass from him to Obama and not Bill to Obama.

what floors me is how rude they all are to Hillary. it’s like manners don’t matter if it’s directed at her. it was the same with Sarah Palin. women really haven’t come very far.

158. The conflict in the Democratic party is not about ideology, philosophy, or policy. It’s not the soul of the party at stake, it’s control. That’s why Bill and Hillary Clinton will continue to be marginalized and people will continue to debate policy as if it matters. Smoke and mirrors. The Black Agenda report has always considered BO to be a corporatist, centrist DLC mole. Howard Dean himself said in an interview with Mother Jones in ’04, that he is a centrist who became concerned with the direction of the party when he realized that even with his centrist views, he was the most far left. It sounds like doublespeak to me, and I imagine it is. His motivation is revenge, Obama just wants control. The Clintons are for all intents and purposes, out.

MJ.com: In the book, you say your positions haven’t changed much from when you were a delegate for Jimmy Carter, but that the party has shifted to the right around you.

HD: It’s true. And the remarkable shift didn’t really occur to me until after I ran for president, because in Vermont I was very much a centrist. I mean, my positions on gun control are probably a little more conservative than most people in the Democratic Party, although I did support the assault-weapons ban and all that. But my position on the death penalty is disturbing to some of my liberal friends, because I do support it in a few instances. I balanced twelve consecutive budgets. And yet, I was the most liberal guy out there other than the three candidates who really didn’t have a chance at winning! Well, that’s ridiculous. What happened to the spectrum of opinion in the Democratic Party? If I’m the most liberal guy and I’m in the center, that means the entire party is moving to the right — except for those who supported me.

http://www.motherjones.com/news/qa/2004/10/09_405.html

159. Kiki,

It really does seem that way. I don’t know what he sees in Obama. To be honest I couldn’t stand to watch much of the convention. I watched Hillary’s speech, and that was about it. But Ted wasn’t the previous Democratic President. There isn’t anyway any of these people can erase Bill Clinton from the history books. I have no idea why they hate him so much.

160. I guess I drove everyone else away.

161. BB – another pat on the back for you from me! I’ve always looked forward to your posts, especially your psychological impressions into personalities and behaviors. Being a therapist, it’s how I analyze as well. You also have a way of being compassionate and comforting with us. I, too, appreciate this site and ALL the writers. I get something from each of you!

162. “I guess I drove everyone else away.”

LOL! naaaaaaaaah!

163. {{{bostonboomer}}}

I don’t have much to say today, but I’m reading. I’m so stressed out about my job situation that I’m getting agita.

164. I don’t think you drove anyone away. I think they were lured by the idea of a venting thread.

I was looking forward to it until you said we couldn’t threaten to kill anyone (just kidding! )

165. No one ever talks to me anyway, but in case they ever do, the only way you can ever understand this is to understand the Borg, it is not just a joke or a satirical look at what is happening, it is what is happening.

CDS (Clinton Derangement Syndrome) is a virus admistered by the “Hope and Change” method of NLP (neuro linguistic programming) and of course Kennedy is going to keep Clinton away from it. It is sad that they don’t want her to have any legacy, but it may well turn out to be their achilles heel. Eventually.

166. As a second wave feminist (we called it women’s liberation back then), I’m still waiting for the third wave to show up. Or was that about taking women’s studies classes?

167. conflucians say – Have you ever seen such sore winners?

These Obama supporters are so freaking nasty in “victory.”

168. I want to call it women’s liberation again. the term ‘feminism’ has been ruined for me.

BB, I too enjoy your posts very much. thank you

169. madammab, no I have never witness such hostility in victory before. I have seen it on tv with documentaries of other charismatic leaders and I do not like what I am seeing. All the signs are not looking good for a new kind of politics in Washington.

170. Hillary should know better than to expect her to “allow” her a legacy. If women want something they have to seize it asking politely has never worked.

171. I am not ceding the word feminism. Steinem can bite me. Feminism is about more than abortion, its about empowering women with CHOICES, not just their uteruses.

172. It’s up

173. yes cwaltz, but almost certainly she knows more than we do, and keeping enemies close may have had good reasons, even if we can’t see it yet. I still believe in Hillary.

174. {{BostonBoomer}}

You’re the best — I love your posts and the compassionate way you moderate the comments!

175. cwaltz, every time I have joined a NOW chapter, all they talk about is abortion. I always end up quitting. choice is important to me, but so are other issues.

176. conflucians say – This is why I call him Dear Leader. The whole thing about executive orders scares me. The cluelessness about the economy and foreign policy scares me. The paranoid hatred of those who dare oppose him scares me. The “civilian national security force” scares me. The indoctrination of the young scares me. The clothing line and the way his face is all over pop culture scares me.

This man is supposed to DO, not just BE. Believe it or not, the Russians will not be impressed if he gives them the fake finger or brushes them off his shoulder.

177. Thank you so very much to all you PUMAcats that do all the work to keep this place up. Its your place and if you make everyone take off their shoes at the door, so much the better. Play nice, stay focused on the issues.

for those who say now is the time to form a third party, I say no. Sit back a bit and think about what things are really important to you personally. after the tide goes back down a bit, recapture your brand. some on the left are already talking that Barry is just Bush 0.3 I think we can draw back and let him unravel by his self. that way you will have no guilt for attacking fellow Dems. Be there with asprin and a glass of water for folks when their kool-aide hangover hits. That will pay more in the long run

I heard that Barry paid women on his campaign staff less than the men. Is that really true?

I think we have Nixon, wrapped in Carter, masquerading as JFK. The Obots think he’s the greatest thing since Che, but then some of them think that guy on the T-shirt is Bob Marley.

178. The idea of creating complete chaos here in the USA, in order to finally ruin the democratic structure and freedom and opportunities, seems to be gelling immediately here in our new prez-elect’s time. Having gays boycotting AA’s is as breathtaking as men suppressing women, both publicly and privately, and as having the entire world economy breaking down and leaving us all paupers.

Apparently a London newspaper (London Times?) the other day had an article stating that BO might not make it to the inauguration, as there have been 2 disclosed attempts for his @ss@sination and he still refuses to wear a bullet-proof vest. Why would they write that? Why?

179. madamab, 100%.

From now on he is dear leader, Emporer Zero.

180. grubbsi said I heard that Barry paid women on his campaign staff less than the men. Is that really true?
yes. Someone will have a source handy but I have seen it.

181. I think Hillary and Bill are going to keep their cards close to the deck.

If Obama and the democratic leadership falls on its face, that’s their opening.

182.
I think we have Nixon, wrapped in Carter
Yup! That is exactly where my head is at.

183. ok, how does we do the quote thing?

184. kiki

The thing that aggravates me is that having or not having a baby is only ONE choice that women have to deal with. I don’t get how you can call women who helped with Domestic violence legislation(oh look marriage is a CHOICE too) not feminists. It’s absurd. Disagree with these women but do not marginalize their opinions as women simply because you disagree with them in one area.

185. The way I see it, is that I think Obama is going to be a disaster, especially because of all the problems he faces, and all the promises he makes.

If I was the Clintons, I would stay clear, buy my time and then strike. That is their only shot now.

I honestly don’t know why she campaigned so hard for him. She could have done some work, but not campaign as hard as she did.

In the end, the Clintons are politicians, I would like to think that they have a plan.

186. cwaltz. I cannot stress enough, how much I think The New Agenda is about to answer those questions and fill the space left by the last wave of feminism. Join it and be the 4th wave.

187. I don’t think the Clintons are done. If Obama bumbles the balls, they can marginalize him and the people that supported him, once and for all. They can get rid of people like Dean and Pelosi and Reid.

Their only shot is that Obama bumbles real bad.

188. add whatever you want to quote here but remember to remove the 7 after the word blockquote

189. shit it worked even with me adding a seven

/Blockquote>

190. I honestly think Obama is going to polarize Washington more than it already is.

191. I will try again.
conflucians say – http://tinyurl.com/6moogw

192. Oh, good grief – I went away on business for two days and have at least a week’s worth of reading – have scanned these posts and …

Oh, NO – AFROCITY you can’t leave us. Your a savvy, sensible, voice with a great sense of humor – we need you in our little community here

Murphy – I’m with you on your focus.
Lori – thank you so much for your zeroing in on the Hillary points that I believe are on the mark.
By the way I found myself in the midst of a group of women who all seemed to be very happy that BO won – but as I was able to get the conversation around to the sexism that was rampant I found some great support for Hillary in the group.

193. Didn’t drive me away.

I appreciate a diverse, intelligent conversation and I sure as hell love to read a well written story whether I agree with it or not.

Well…No I don’t!

If it is a well written homage to “The LightBringer,” written by someone in the throes of Obamaxtasy…then screw it! I don’t want to read that crap. If I wanted to read Hosanna’s I would read the Bible!

I once thought my opinion as a man would not matter much on a thread frequented mostly by women. Boy was I wrong!

Thank you for making me feel welcome. I frequent a few other sites. I also write one of my own but I am not a wordsmith as many of the talented writers here are. Can’t seem to put thoughts into words as easy as some do. But I do enjoy an intelligently written piece. Whether I agree with it or not. ( As long as it is not one of those Obama porno pieces…LOL )

I listen to your internet radio show when time permits and i love that all of the people here make one feel welcome.

Thanks again RD and all the other writers.

In me, you have a loyal reader!

194. Where is Chelsa? Haven’t seen or heard of her since the DNC convention.

I believe that the Clintons want the best for our country and would not want to see BO bobble the ball but rather want to be seen as strong support for our country in general – not for BO any longer –
Lori, you are so there with the fact that Hill is deeply respected – and a big piece of that respect comes from the fact that she has been a woman of her word and lived up to her promises even when she could have told BO to go take a hike!

195. Moderation? what did I say?

196. Personally I think some people are being a bit too sensitive about what they perceive as attacks on them. Let’s remember that when we write and read – we are missing the vital intonations we would get with hearing, and facial expressions with seeing. When we look at a sentence on a page we are projecting our own emotions on to the words and sometimes what we see as anger may be just…a cigar. Perhaps we should all start using smily faces more often? 🙂

197. look kennedy won’t be in the senate in a meaningful way again. that is my view and i don’t mean it in a disresptful way. the era of kennedy is coming to an end and he wants his name on the health care bill. that is his last hurrah. caroline kennedy won’t be running for the senate against hillary. i can see her moving to ma to continue the kennedy name is about all.

i am still angry at hillary for campaigning for obama the way she did. bide your time comes to mind. i believe and most repubs do that obama is a one termer. he can’t fullfill his promises to the aa’s. it aint gonna happen. the dnc is in charge. they will give an immigration bill to the latinos and that will cause some real anger in the heartland. what the aa’s won’t isn’t there to give anymore. bush broke the treasury. the gay community is learning the hard way that they aren’t special to obama and crew. they should have known. the corporations are KING! we are a debtor nation to china. most of obama’s real money came from the very wealthy. they don’t plan to help built a socialist utopia. not going to happen! so obama will throw his main supporters under the bus assuming they’ll be there in 4 years when he whistles. not going to happen! the women won’t be there either. so who will support him? the lefties? they are under their way to the bus barn as we speak.

198. Afrocity, your comments are always well thought-out and insightful — please don’t go!

djmm

199. thanks for the info on the block quote, downticket. Just read your post, I was elsewhere for a while.

Anyway time to say it again. Fuck you Democratic Party, thanks for stealing the nomination from the best ever fucking candidate we ever fucking had. You fucking idiots. Congratu fucking lations on your latest election fraud victory, guess cheating wins, not for long you fucking won”t. PUMAs will rise and you will be defeated.

I am conflucians say, just say no to zombie rule and I approve this fucking message!!!

200. still crickets from kb

201. Dee:

We just had an open thread where you could vent and now there is another thread too.

Katiebird isn’t here and probably never saw your comment to her.

202. […] The Public Humiliation of Hillary Clinton Continues I have a great idea. Why not just put Hillary in the stocks on the White House lawn on inauguration day and let […] […]

203. myiq – bostomboomer made the excuse for kb that she was away. kb was back on this thread at 5:15pm. It appears she has chosen not to take responsibility for her actions.

As for the venting thread – I don’t need it. I can appreciate everyones anger and anguish on all issues. I have been involved in politics for a long long time.

My problem was the personal admonishment for something I did not do and the snarky invitation for me to leave RD.

204. No matter how you dice it or slice it, I do not beieve Obama would have won without the help and support of Bill and Hillary Clinton. It would have made a difference in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Plus he would have had to spend more time and more money in those states and that might have also made some difference in Nevada and Colorada. Truthfully, i never did understand why she worked so hard for him. I do believe that part of his mad on for Hillary was the fact that she would not be critical of Sarah Palin.

205. As long as 18 million people voted for and preferred Hillary she will continue to have power. How she plays her hand has yet to be seen. But Obama will need those 18 million voters, especially the 20% who voted for McCain, come 2012 or he will never see a second term. What we can do now is bolster Hillary’s power by writing, emailing, and forcing them to acknowledge the power, presitige, and popularity she still has with us 18 million. We need to be visible, we need to be vocal, and we need to be vigilant and make sure our gal is respected, and let Obama know he CAN NOT count on us to support him in 2012 if he doesn’t treat Hillary and Bill Clinton with the respect we expect him too. We hold this power, we need to use it. I can guarentee you the Republicans will be back in 2012 with a sure win candidate. And Obama can’t win with out the Clinton Dems. All of them.

206. PS: A good start is to go to Obamablahs’ new web site for us to submit a “vision for our future” and let them know in overwhelming numbers that we 18 million are still out here, we are watching, and we want Hillary to be Senate Majority Leader or something comparable.

207. hi people…. thank you

208. What a bad dream I am having? Is it something I ate? Will I feel better after a piece of obama cake and some kool aid? Are things really this serious? Why does the media keep smiling and not reporting what all of us should hear?

209. “Grow up and understand that you “can’t always get what you want”.

If I recall it was the Obama supporters that were going to riot if they didn’t get what they wanted.

210. I am what you might call a middle of the road Conservative. We voted for McCain simply because we didn’t know what we were going to get with Obama. There were to many unanswered questions for us. We kept saying through this entire election we wish Hillary has won the nomination because with her, you knew what you were getting. Really, we weren’t happy with the McCain pick either but we went with what we felt was the “less of 2 evils”.

I think Hillary running as an Independant would be AWESOME! I don’t vote straight party lines so I would definately give her the opportunity to convince me!

211. Not surprised at all.

Obama is the KING and will dicate orders/proclamations.

212. […] of her opposition in the primaries. Senator Clinton will receive neither a Cabinet Position, nor a Senate Committee Leadership on Health Care for her valiant efforts on his behalf. Now THAT’s some kinda unity, […]
