I’d like to congratulate Barack Obama

Where's my fucking pony

I really would like to, but I would be completely insincere and dishonest if I did.  There can only be one winner in every race, and this time the media and the corporatists that pay their huge salaries picked Obama.  I am not happy about it, nor will I forget nor forgive the things he did to “win.”  I sincerely and honestly believe he will be a bad leader in a time of crisis.

But starting next January Barack Obama will be the only president we have, so I hope to Koresh I am wrong, and I will take no pleasure in being right.  (Well, maybe a little pleasure, but only when I get to scream “I TOLD YOU SO!” in the faces of disillusioned sippy-kup kidz)  If the Obama administration turns out to be a liberal wet-dream, I will happily kiss the unity pony’s ass on the White House lawn.  But I ain’t buying any chapstick just yet.

There were a few positive developments that came out of the campaign, and I intend to work on those.  One encouraging thing was we were able to reach out to rank & file Republicans and engage with them in civil discourse.  In fact, they treated PUMAs far nicer than our alleged fellow lefties did.  I’m still a flaming liberal, but never again will I fall into the partisan trap.

This petulant clown won’t be drinking the Kool-aid, not even to experiment.  I’ll keep being rude, obnoxious and occasionally inappropriate.  As far as I’m concerned there won’t be any honeymoons or benefit of the doubt.  And since it’s obvious that neither the media nor the big blogger boyz will be doing it, I’ll keep telling people that the clothes have no emperor.  If that bothers people, too bad, but I don’t do this to be popular.

Asshole

  1. I’ll keep being rude, obnoxious and occasionally inappropriate.

And that is why I’m going to keep on loving you. 😉

  2. 😛

  3. One unfortunate (or maybe fortunate) side effect to this election is that BO has pushed moderates Dems (like me) over to the Repub side while still managing to tick off the die hard liberals. We are united here on this blog not because of our political ideologies (I am and will remain a conservative Christian), but because we place a high value on democracy and the rule of law and believe in old fashioned things like candidates having integrity, and votes having meaning, and honor and all those other unfashionable under the bus ideas.

  4. elderj:

When I get over my election hangover and enough of my righteous indignation to think about something else, I want to do a post on how to reach agreements with people you don’t agree with.

  5. I agree with you elderj — these “unfashionable under the bus ideas” are things that all people of good conscience value. And I believe these are things that most people in this country value. We have to make those people realize they’ve been sold a bill of goods in BO.

  6. I’m a social liberal (on most issues) and fiscal conservative (on most issues) and Obama pushed me to sympathize with Republicans! I can never forgive him for that!

I’ve written this before: the Democratic party won the battle of 2008, but they’ve lost the war. The new coalition Obama built is a coalition for and by Barack Obama. These new voters he inspired (!) are only interested in Obama, not the Democratic party. Once he lets them down and they lose interest in politics once again – what is that going to leave the Democratic party with? Who’s going to campaign for a Democrat just because there’s a D next to his/her name? Who’s going to give them money? Obama supporters won’t. And the old (I’m not talking about their age) Democrats who got thrown overboard – many will not return. And so in the long-run the Democratic party has shot itself in the leg and lost the most important kind of voter: the one who recognizes what politics are and participates anyway. The new coalition won’t participate.

  7. I don’t do this to be popular.

    Exactly!

  8. Popularity is overrated. I find it better to be selective with whom I associate. Hence, you will not find any Ayers, Wright or Khalidi’s in my closet.

  9. elderj: if we don’t have a system that works, political ideology doesn’t matter. If we don’t have a democracy, if our votes don’t matter, if candidates don’t make a lick of sense, and no one has any honor, then religion or party don’t make any difference.

  10. I knew I wasn’t going to win any popularity contests when I lost the election for class secretary in 7th grade. I haven’t given a flying f*ck since then.

  11. I mean, I’m happy for the good people who supported Obama and never resorted to sexism or homophobia. I’m happy they’re happy.

  12. That begs the question, who WILL I find in your closet?

    😛

  13. Olympic tetherball?

  14. Not me, myiq. I’m NEVER going back in the closet!

    😉

  15. For anyone who is sincere about reaching out to others, now that this offensive nonsense is over, try going to Tammybruce.com and signing on to the “Thank you, Sarah Palin” petition.

This was the second feminist savaged by the left and the media this year, and they are still at it. She gave as good as she got, and she hung in there til the end. I don’t know what more people want. So, I think it is time we all said, “thank you” After all, she said it more than once, didn’t she?

  16. I’ve got an interesting collection of former lovers in there.

  17. I think we could all benefit from watching this: US Democrats – Bill Clinton 1992

I still believe in a place called hope.

  18. “I’m happy they’re happy.”

I’m happy for their happiness, too. But I think most of them will be sorely disillusioned within the next 4 years. Nevermind, the pendulum swings, and we’ll have cause for celebration in the future.

I don’t want the PUMA movement to turn into a pity party. We have to be proactive and forward thinking. The next big goal should be working towards the 30% solution in 2010. Not just in politics, but in the media.

  19. You keep them in your closet?

Are you some sort of black widow?

  20. I am proud to be a republican now. It feels liberating

  21. My God, Regency, that gave me goosebumps!

  22. OBAMAS FORCED COMMUNITY SERVICE PLANS

We should have seen this coming. It all seems so obvious now.

An African American is elected President of the United States of America and what’s the first thing he does?

    Reintroduces slavery.

  23. myiq you know rd is just gonna change that to a cat picture dontcha? Personally I perferred your congratulatory posters to hers though. 😉

  24. I’ll keep being rude, obnoxious and occasionally inappropriate.

    Okay.

  25. myiq2xu, on November 7th, 2008 at 12:42 am Said:

You keep them in your closet?

Are you some sort of black widow?

    I said lovers, not husbands.

I keep my ex husbands in the attic.

  26. Yeah, I’d like a repost of the cat photo, too. That was funny!

  27. afrocity — I’m almost there with you. If only I could find some Republicans who are socially liberal, I’d join up too.

  28. Rd didn’t change any of my pictures.

After I sobered up a little I thought “maybe that is just a tad over-the-top”

Not to mention the day shift is a little more genteel than the zombie crew

  29. elderj

I sat down with a GOP member this cycle, after listening to me he looked astounded. I guess the caricature that is portrayed of a liberal didn’t fit what he saw and heard. We didn’t agree on alot but both of us felt we were genuine in our desire to move this country forward even if we didn’t agree how. At least I can say something positive occured this cycle we learned that neither of us despite our differences had the horms the party idealogues claimed the other had.

  30. Wel I will be disappointed if you change this one. These are not genteel times. I’m not big into profanity but sometimes the sentiment DOES suit.

  31. I am off to do my duty as a bedwarmer and snuggle pillow in a few but I figured I would check in and see how the nite crew is hangin’

  32. Bill Maher says they can’t tell jokes about Obama because there is nothing funny about him.

    Serves them f*ckers right!

  33. Apparently, no funeral or memorial service have been announced for Toot. Obama will go to Hawaii in December for R&R and to “honor” her. Even I find this odd.

  34. The zombie crew, you mean, CWaltz? (per myiq)

  35. Bill Maher is a smug, stupid, hypocritical, misogynistic dogf*cker.
And those are his good qualities.

  36. Hye angie-twin,
Sarah was liberal enough to allow gay rights in Alaska! Does that count?

  37. scrubs, I thought that was you and Seriously (the zombie crew).

  38. Oops, that was “hey”, not hye.

  39. Angie:

Were you referring to his ex, Coultergeist?

  40. Sometimes it IS just me and myiq, Brit.

Last night I was trying to remind him about what he did with angie the night before. He didn’t remember going to the private room.

  41. got a little email from hillpac with the subj line of “we did it” and then a bunch of bullshit about Obama. Naturally at the bottom was the big contribute button.

I replied and said I had voted for Sen. McCain, the one who had a record we could see and that if she did run again for President I’d be happy to support her. Couple of minutes later I got an auto-reply. I doubt anyone will read what I wrote to her.

  42. LOL angie, tell us how you REALLY feel.

In regards to the last thread, I am not excusing the whites who voted against gay marriage but I find it particularly disturbing when groups who know how it feels to be a minority vote against other minorities. You’d think they’d be able to walk in gays shoes a little better since they are a minority and many have seen their own discrimination firsthand.

  43. PS was watching reply of Greta and she had Oprah on tape on there. Had to mute the damned thing.

  44. I think the disillusionment is already beginning-see last prgph:

“Lines were long and tempers flared Wednesday not to vote but to get paid for canvassing for Barack Obama. Several hundred people are still waiting to get their pay for last-minute campaigning. Police were called to the Obama campaign office on North Meridian Street downtown to control the crowd.
The line was long and the crowd was angry at times.
“I want my money today! It’s my money. I want it right now!” yelled one former campaign worker.

A former spokesman for the Obama campaign said 375 people were hired as part of the Vote Corps program and said people signed up to work three-hour shifts at a time. Three hours of canvassing got workers a $30 pre-paid Visa card.

The workers showed up to get their cards Wednesday morning at 10:00 am.

“There was a note on the door saying 1:00 pm and then at 1:20 pm everybody was like why is nobody here. They just got here and they’re trying to get it organized,” said Heather Richards, a former campaign worker.

Eventually people did start getting paid, but some said they were missing hours and told to fill in paperwork making their claim and that eventually they would get a check in the mail.

“Still that’s not right. I’m disappointed. I’m glad for the president, but I’m disappointed in this system,” said Diane Jefferson, temporary campaign worker.

“It should have been $480. It’s $230,” said Imani Sankofa.

“They gave us $10 an hour. So we added it. I added up all the hours so it was supposed to be at least $120. All I get is $90,” said Charles Martin.

“I worked nine hours a day for 4 days and got paid half of what I should have earned,” said Randall Waldon.

Some people weren’t satisfied with filling out a claim form for money they felt was still due to them.

“They say that they gonna call you or they going to mail it to you, but I don’t know. We’ll see what happens,” said Antron Grose.

“Talking about they’ll mail it to us. I ain’t worried about that, man. They’re not going to mail nothin’,” said Martin.”

    Promises, promises.

  45. Evidently sanity isn’t one of Maher’s standards when choosing a bed partner. I don’t like to speak ill of my own gender but I gotta call em’ as I see em’. Coulter is rabid.

  46. What is up with all the homoerotic worship of BO by the OFB (of which Maher is chairman)? Is it just me or does any one else find it creepy that so many allegedly straight men want to f*ck BO? I could understand wanting to f*ck him if you are gay (well, no I can’t — I think he looks like a swizzle stick with a big head stuck on top), but what is going on here?

  47. Im really disappointed with Bill Maher. I used to have respect for him.

  48. LFI:

The one that was screaming was Markos

  49. I’ve been hanging wth the day crew for the past couple of days, I’m amazed no one’s gotten mad at me yet. LOL

  50. Of course, angie’s f—- fest has kept the heat off the rest of us. 🙂

  51. I think Obama already deserves a vacation just for all the bad news that’s coming his way as President-elect.

    Retailers Report a Sales Collapse

Sales at the nation’s largest retailers fell off a cliff in October, casting fresh doubt on the survival of some chains and signaling that this will probably be the weakest Christmas shopping season in decades.

Consumer spending represents two-thirds of the nation’s economic activity, and analysts said the striking sales declines at retailers almost certainly portended an extended, severe recession. The reports highlighted once again the depth of the economic problems confronting President-elect Barack Obama.

Decades? Reminder: jobs report out tomorrow.

  52. Oh, that’s where you’ve been Seriously. No more insomnia?

Please, angie, give gay men some CREDIT! Barry is icky.

  53. Angie Id sleep with Obama in a heartbeat to damage his career.

  54. I’ve been hanging wth the day crew for the past couple of days,

    What?! Seriously, I am dumbfounded!

  55. I still have the insomnia, but I’m trying to be more productive at night. But then I decided–ah, the hell with it. lol

  56. Apparently, no funeral or memorial service have been announced for Toot. Obama will go to Hawaii in December for R&R and to “honor” her. Even I find this odd.
    —————-
What can this possibly mean, that there’s not going to be a funeral service? They’re just going to dump in the ground without any ceremony?

This just gets creepier and creepier.

My guess is that if there’s no service, it’s precisely because it would be very embarrassing to Obama to have such a service take place in his very conspicuous absence.

The man has a jet plane fully at his disposal, with creature comforts far beyond what the rest of us might ever enjoy on such a flight. He can’t find the time or energy to go to a service before she’s buried?

Am I one of the very few who thinks this sounds completely nuts?

I almost just can’t believe that this is true — it sounds so bizarre to me. I was just expecting to hear that he was on his way to Hawaii to attend the funeral.

What’s he going to do if some major world leader dies — just show up a month later to show him or her respect? I don’t think so — he’ll be there. But he can’t make his own grandmother’s funeral — the grandmother who was as much a mother to him as a grandmother?

Really, I can scarcely believe this.

  57. But this economic collapse occurred during the Bush Administration. Obama wont be blamed for this.

  58. frankly
Hell probably throw her body into the Pacific Ocean.

  59. scrubs — I do like that about Sarah. Heck my dad the Republican thinks civil unions and/or employer partner benefits are fine. I meant more “ok with gay marriage social liberals” — sadly, I admit that my dad is not on board with that. I try to tell him: you are ok with civil unions/same-sex partner benefits, what is wrong with letting gay people get married? He can’t explain it to my satisfaction though: his reasoning is: (1) people can’t help being gay (I find that a little condescending that he says “help” but whatever). (2) people should be allowed to do whatever they want with another consenting adult in the privacy of their own bedroom (gotcha); (3) allowing same-sex partners in long term relationships to get insurance through one of their employers is only “fair’ (ok, getting warmer) (4) but only men & women can get married (wtf? he lost me there). But my dad is from another generation — it is just the word “marriage” that I think he can’t imagine applying to two men or two women. I already do think that is changing with the generations coming up though.

  60. Yeah Brit, but yesterday they decreed that nothing that happens is his fault, so no worries.

  61. frankly0, it’s really odd.

  62. My dad is a democrat and he isnt okay with gay marriage.

  63. Ari, on November 7th, 2008 at 1:16 am Said:

Angie Id sleep with Obama in a heartbeat to damage his career.

LMAO!! But make sure to take pictures or you will get the same treatment as Larry whateverthehellhisnamewas — ignored & then arrested.

  64. Ari — there are moderate/conservative social values Democrats too. I didn’t mean to imply that it was only Republicans who weren’t ok with it. I admit I am very liberal on social issues (although I am no longer a Democrat)

  65. Nor is my obot father.

  66. Seriously, on November 7th, 2008 at 12:34 am Said:
I mean, I’m happy for the good people who supported Obama and never resorted to sexism or homophobia. I’m happy they’re happy.
    =============

Me too. There’s one in particular: a wonderful long close friend. I didn’t know he was really for Obama, because he was tactful enough not to mention it to me. He even loaned me his computer and helped me set up anti-obama sites! He’s also a very sceptical, worldly person. (Unfortunately that means being sceptical of anything not endorsed by NYT or BBC.)

But yesterday he revealed that he was extremely happy, thrilled, about the outcome — saw it as a big shift to something great, etc.

So I got some contact high from him, and just beause it’s in the air. Trying to analyze it.

To people like him, who believe Big Media and accept BM’s view of it all — this must be a great thing. Maybe we PUMAS know too much. If not for knowing too much about BO and his tactics (and if HIllary and Palin hadn’t run), I’d think the outcome was great too. My latte tree-hugging issues winning by a landslide: WH and Congress and the media.

Admin at H44 aiui says keep up the expectations of what BO’s followers expect. That’s a win/win for me. Where he performs, we get a victory on that issue. Where he flips, hopefullly he loses some supporters.

Whatever BO is, and however nasty some of his supporters are — still there are many, perhaps the majority of them, who are innocent and sincere and really working for the right issues, and will continue to work for the right issues. Stone soup.

  67. Seriously — ah yes, the day after the election when I was home sick I think I gave more then one genteel member of the day crew some palpitations. But I like to think of it as f*ck therapy, not a f*ck fest.

  68. Ari–Obama looks like Alfred E. Newman! Don’t do it.

  69. Myiq…
Along the lines of lessoned learned, I don’t yet know quite what to make of it, but this election has introduced some real cognitive dissonance into my brain that shows no signs of abating soon. Specifically, I now listen to RIGHT wing radio…Rush, Lars, Beck, O’Reilly …

Mostly while these folks are performing I just whistle while I work, because they’re spouting such utter nonsense it’s downright amusing in my now upside down world. Somehow that is refreshing because I don’t have any expectation that these wingnuts will be accurate, logical, or have the same agenda as I do.

On the other hand, I have not listened to Air America since it transformed into Air Obama last January and only now am I beginning to listen to NPR occasionally. Ditto for the leftie blogs I used to read…bookmarks long since gone and not gonna return. Some cobwebs of illusions about the Democrat party finally have been cleaned out of my mental attic once and for all. I no longer expect Dems to represent my interests or overcome their rampant misogyny.

It feels strangely liberating…maybe like Charlie Brown would feel if he ever just walked away from Lucy with his damn football some fin fall day….

I’m definitely ready for something called the Reform Party

  70. Bill Maher has always had gender issues, to put it mildly. Even when he claimed he “liked” HRC, he still made insulting and misogynist jokes about her. I stopped watching and canceled my subscription to HBO after his first show this season.

I think all PUMAs should officially leave the Dem Party to send another clear message. We are our own community now and have work to do in these next four years — to expose the fraud that is BO.

  71. …just checking in to say hi. Today has been difficult. Apologizing to someone for merely objecting to the O narrative and all the smears O has liberally dispensed has been disheartening to say the least. Even my friends from abroad believe O is this great person who will herald in change, someone “new” and “independent”, and on it goes. I don’t know why I even bothered to do anything but tow the line. It’s so lonely being right.

  72. BO didn’t give a flying f*ck about Toot when she was alive — only dragging her out during the campaign when politically necessary. Why should he pretend to care about her now? Frankly, it is the only honest thing I’ve seen him do.

  73. Reform Party

I like the sound of that…

  74. “I’d like to congratulate Barack Obama”. And, I’d like to get the last year of my life back, too– but that ain’t gonna happen either. Whad’ ya think about Kool-aide and the Gang’s “Celebration” as an appropriately insipid inaugural theme song?

I likewise don’t intend to “forget nor forgive the things he did to “win.” ” Somebody has to remember the crap that went down this election so that it may be prevented in the future. I have a feeling Obama and the DNC have engendered a whole new army of Somerby’s that will help them relive this past year ad nauseum.

If anyone’s ready to play PINO, check out http://thenotionthatsomehow.wordpress.com/2008/11/06/it-was-quite-the-coup/

  75. Angie I think that there is a silver lining in this gay marriage ban is that exposes hypocrisy among Obama supporters. Maybe we could recruit some gays.

  76. Ah, Bill Maher. The guy who dressed up as a crocodile hunter with a stingray tail and fake blood on his chest the Halloween after Steve Irwin died.

  77. Ari:

According to Ronnie Raygun, it’s the gays who recruit

  78. salmonrising — I now listen exclusively to the local college’s classical music station. I’m never going back to talk radio.

  79. Here’s the link to the Thank You, Sarah Palin petition site:

    http://www.thepetitionsite.com/petition/133346077

  80. Yeah I see your point on that angie. Whatever it was, it was enjoyable.:)

  81. myiq — that’s according to BO too — or haven’t you heard about his one gay professor (whose name he can’t remember) whom he liked because he wasn’t “prostelizing.” (yes, he actually said that).

  82. The GOP used Sarah Palin as a toy. They knew they were going to lose so they chewed her up and spat her out. I feel she would have had much more respect if she had remained governor of Alaska.

  83. Bill Maher is disgusting, he sexually harasses his assistants and thinks it’s funny. No wonder he supported Obama.

  84. IQ
    LOL

I was thinking maybe disillusioned gays to join our new party. Who will be thrown under the bus next?

  85. Seriously — I hope there really is a hell and it is even more horrible then described in Dante’s Inferno just so Maher can burn for eternity.

  86. ” I feel she would have had much more respect if she had remained governor of Alaska.”

You mean she should have been more obedient and not so “ambitious”……

  87. Actually Ari, a hell of a lot of Republicans are pointing out that McCain might have lost 48 states if not for her. She’s the only thing that kept him competitive and the rightwngers are defending her against the moderates who are saying she dragged McCain down.

  88. I think Ari was referring to the GOP mgt. not rank and file Republicans — the rank and file Republicans love Sarah like the rank and file Democrats love Hillary. It is the “elite” in both parties that have the women problems.

  89. The neocons didn’t like Palin. Elitists.

  90. The neocons & the neoprogs are mirror images of each other — that is why there are people who voted for both W & BO.

  91. Their blogger classes love her too.

  92. The GOP mgt. didn’t select Palin. McCain did.

“The GOP used Sarah Palin as a toy. They knew they were going to lose so they chewed her up and spat her out.”

So did Mc select her because he knew he was going to lose? Did he use her like a toy?

  93. I do believe her views on abortion etc scared many moderates she did energize a base but unfortunately many people in that base stayed home.

    Seriously
I meant she was used by the GOP and torn apart by the media. Thats what I meant by her having more respect by remaining governor. I definitely think she should get a law degree and learn more about foreign affairs. Then the media couldnt beat her down in 2012.

  94. good nite all

  95. I think Mac wanted to win. Heck, against BO I think he deserved to win and I’m willing to bet good money that absent voter fraud he DID win. That is why he picked Palin. The GOP mgt. on the other hand did not want to win — they wanted BO for president because he is the corporate candidate. Don’t expect anything from the BO WH that we didn’t see in the W WH. Mac must have realized the fix was in — probably when Republicans “elites” jumped on the Palin dogpile — but it was too late. He’s a decent man — if he had known that he was the sacrificial lamb I don’t think he would have picked Palin.

  96. ” I definitely think she should get a law degree and learn more about foreign affairs.”

Elitism, eh? You mean a law degree so that she will know there are 56 states in the United States of America? Ooops, that’s domestic and not international (well, sort of….)

  97. JVSP
What I meant was, I am extremely skeptical of Karl Rove. He and other members of the GOP wanted McCain to lose because they knew Obama would f*ck up the country and they could shift the blame of the economic failure onto the democrats.

  98. “I definitely think she should get a law degree and learn more about foreign affairs. Then the media couldnt beat her down in 2012.”

Hillary has a law degree and is the Wonk Queen, didn’t help her any.

  99. night lol.

Ari — the media will beat down Palin in 2012 even if she invents a cure for cancer between now and then. Hillary has a law degree from an Ivy league school (and actually EARNED her place on the law review) and it didn’t stop the media from beating down on her.

The media & the Obots are scared of all things that pee sitting down. Especially ones who are smarter then them.

  100. Angie
I witnessed voter fraud myself. I visited my grandmother at her nursing home and one of the nurses aides had registered all the residents to vote for Obama. My grandmother is not a US citizen. And many of the woman there are not but were registered to vote for Obama.

  101. I mean, I’m happy for the good people who supported Obama and never resorted to sexism or homophobia. I’m happy they’re happy.

I dunno. Like most of you, I have good friends who are over the moon about BZero, to the point I’m really having to bite my tongue if I don’t want to just talk about it All the Time, which I really don’t.

But, I’ll admit this: I’m doing a lot of reminding people that he resorted to the filthiest of tactics to get where he is. That he dragged both Clintons through the mud and they still showed class by not telling him to get stuffed.

I just don’t think they get a pass on this. You don’t get to feel all hopey changey and warm and cuddly when those feelings are built on the backs of other people…and I’m including both women and gays in that statement.

  102. Ari:

What is Sarah’s view on abortion that you think scared people?

  103. It’s hard to believe that they could be that stupid. They can’t control the future. Bush is a two term President. Obama and his thugs are not above any type of voter fraud, starting a war to drive up his approval ratings, whatever. We could get attacked. Anything can happen in 4 years. If they seriously sat on their hands and just thought they could come back in 4 years, then they are idiots and are going to regret turning over so much power to unethical thugs without a fight.

  104. NC state teacher telling a girl whose parents support McCain, that her dad will be in Iraq for 100 years! (After an introduction in a foreign language, the actual incident of the teacher and students is in English.)

  105. Eleanor A — take solace in the fact that a year from now they will tell you they should have listed to you in the first place.

  106. Seriously — Rove likes unethical thugs. I said it before — I think BO is as much the GOP elite’s candidate as he is the Dem. elite’s candidate. That is why his “policies” are so schizto. He isn’t a Dem. any more then he is a socialist.

  107. Ari — I believe it. Nothing will convince me that BO “won” this election. I’ve Jesus Christ came down and told me BO “won” without voter fraud I would tell him to f*ck off.

  108. I’m doing a lot of reminding people that he resorted to the filthiest of tactics to get where he is. That he dragged both Clintons through the mud and they still showed class by not telling him to get stuffed.

No one remembers these, if they were aware at all. They will say Obama ran a flawless campaign, just like the pundits are now saying. What is that anyway?

  109. I would prefer someone who did NOT have a law degree, the Ivy League “education”… Given all this chatter about the aforementioned, what kind of president was Woooodrow Wilson?

An Ivy Leage education/law degree a president does not make.

  110. Britannia — I’ve been telling Obots for years that W “ran a flawless campaign too. So what?” They don’t listen.

  111. that should have been “for the last year” not “for years”

  112. Eleanor, I’m thinking more of people like the 114 year old woman who’s the daughter of slaves. Most of the Obots I know engaged in all kinds of questional behavior, from homophobia to sexism to enabling this behavior by making excuses for changing their most deeply held beliefs because Bo said so, to just acting scary. I’m happy for all the good people who are just so happy to finally have an African American President (and sad I can’t be happy about it because of everything that’s happened) and who didn’t participate in, condone, or know about what went on. I totally agree on no free pass, never forget, never excuse–I’m just trying to find a silver lining here.

  113. Seriously — I feel happy for those kinds of people now, but sorry for them too when BO shows his true face. As to the Obots — I’m going to relish their let down. They truly deserve it.

  114. questionable

  115. I’m gonna grab some Z’s (and dream of Angie)

    C-ya in a couple hours!

  116. bon soir, mon amour.

  117. Egads! It’s 2:17 — why’d y’all let me stay up this late? I’ve got to get to work tomorrow. Good night all.

  118. BTW, I calculated how much each vote cost for Obama and McCain by dividing the total campaign cash by the total number of votes for each candidate.

    Obama: ~$10.00 per vote
    McCain: ~$5.00 per vote

Seems McCain got a bargain price. Votes are so cheap.

I also tried to factor in the price Obama had to pay for backing out on public financing, but it turns out his word amounts to nothing.

  119. “Seriously — I feel happy for those kinds of people now, but sorry for them too when BO shows his true face”

Yep. I felt that way about patrick, and even though he’s a million times the person BO is, damn what a letdown. Anyone who sincerely believes in Bo is going to get crushed, so enjoy it while you can.

    “Rove likes unethical thugs”

He’s not gonna like it when BO declares himself Dictator for Life though. lol He’s out of a job then!

“They will say Obama ran a flawless campaign, just like the pundits are now saying.”

Yes, because they hate the people he stirred up hate against too, so who cares?

CB, it says the petition is closed.

  121. “NC state teacher telling a girl whose parents support McCain, that her dad will be in Iraq for 100 years!”

Jesus, once again the Obots deliver on Republican stereotypes of Democrats–the crazy teachers saying inappropriate things to indoctrinate kids. Way to go!

  122. Eleanor, I’m thinking more of people like the 114 year old woman who’s the daughter of slaves. … I’m happy for all the good people who are just so happy to finally have an African American President (and sad I can’t be happy about it because of everything that’s happened) and who didn’t participate in, condone, or know about what went on.

Yes, that’s exactly how I feel. My heart truly goes out to these people.

  123. My Obot spouse is in an industry exquisitely sensitive to economic tides. When he loses his job I’ll remind him that’s the cost of his get-out-of-racism-free card.

  124. Britannia, the 114 year old woman may genuinely feel happy about voting for OB..it’s the white frat-boy liberal-guilt fucktards who leave me unmoved.

  125. ugsome, you and I and Seriously don’t disagree.

  126. Night Angie!

  127. “the 114 year old woman may genuinely feel happy about voting for OB..it’s the white frat-boy liberal-guilt fucktards who leave me unmoved.”

I don’t think the white frat boys suffer much from liberal guilt, They’re usually just as unabashedly racist as they are sexist. They’ll vote for the Black guy but ONLY if he’s running against a woman–and then turn around and pat themselves on the back for taking a big stand for racial equality. lol Yay, white frat boy fucktards! 🙂

  128. I don’t think the white frat boys suffer much from liberal guilt, They’re usually just as unabashedly rac ist as they are sexist. 129. I think the candidate also has to be a cool dude.

  130. Yeah, no woman could ever be “cool.” That would make her an unserious bimbo flake.

  131. There was a post at the new agenda saying that Palin isn’t a serious professional because she winks. Whereas, there’s nothing in the world more professional than giving your opponent the finger, doing little dances to tell her what you think of her, etc. Annie Oakley is unserious, bowling is manly.

  132. Offering to give someone a kiss if she’ll change her vote–that’s the hallmark of a serious professional.

  133. It’s cool to take a “big stand for racial equality”… F*cking hipsters with their faux righteous indignation…

How can one be happy for someone else being happy when their happiness is only possible precisely because of that person’s ignorance, whether willful or not, or their indifference or perhaps denial?

  134. “Offering to give someone a kiss if she’ll change her vote–that’s the hallmark of a serious professional.”

    …just ask Judas!

  135. h t t p : / / tundratabloid.blogspot.com/2008/11/swedish-documentary-shows-ashville.html

More detail on the NC school teacher who told a student her father would be in Iraq 100 years. This looks legit, it’s part of a longer documentary by a Swedish site.

‘But this is no ordinary teacher, she is Diantha Harris, the ex-wife of Roy Harris, the man who asked George Bush Sr. in the Rose Garden of the White House, to visit his family in N.Carolina in 1992.”

  136. Yeah, Seriously, right on to all of the above. Obots and the MSM have lost a basic sense of discernment when it comes to these things. They see malice when there is none, and become blind while witnessing the most offensive gestures.

I agree that “populist” is an apt term to describe Palin. She has considerable political talent. And there is lots of room for growth.

  137. She’s go natural political instincts. She’s just got to refine it.

  138. Ha! Myiq2xu, this was a wonderful post to wake up to. It must have been the shock–I fell asleep last night at around 7:30. Now I’m wide awake with nowhere to go. Thanks for this funny post. I think the next few months are going to be really surreal for me. I hope you’ll be around her to make it more so.

  139. Thanks for that. Why should there be a honeymoon? That just gives them time to think that they’re right and consolidate power.

A tidbit; I responded to an email from a state Dem bigwig saying we should congratulate Obama by saying that I’d think about it when he apologized for winning with the help of sexism and misogyny. His response: “Get over it. The whole world celebrated and you sat home and whined.”

    gotta love those sensitive Obots.

  140. She’s a total natural. Like Bill Clinton said, she just has it.

  141. His response: “Get over it. The whole world celebrated and you sat home and whined.”

Okay, seriously, how did these people win? They are the least professional crew I’ve ever heard of. Do people just genuinely enjoy being demeaned and insulted now? This is an effective political gambit?

  142. This thing just never stops.

More Dirt on Sarah Palin’s Fancy Duds

I wish these anonymous sources would just come out and lay it all out. Bring receipts and all other records. Then it would be all over, Palin would be finished. Why prolong the smear when they can do it in one fell swoop?

  143. New thread up!

(this one is crashing my browser)

  144. I’d like to congratulate Obama. He got what he wanted and now he’ll get more than he ever bargained for. Stuck in that big white house with MEchelle. Actually having to DO A JOB. Pleasing his puppeteers. Trying to make sure there is someone there to WORM every statement. Stuck in that big white house with MEchelle. Having to actually VISIT with soldiers. Trying to figure out which of his 300 advisors to listen to. Stopping the press leaks and the backstabbers. Stuck in that big white house with MEchelle. Trying to work with the Republicans. Waiting for the other (of many) shoe(s) to fall.

Just sound like something he deserves, doncha think?

  145. Obama is still doing it. Raise cautionary doubts about what he will actually do, and how will people who used to identify themselves as dissident liberals and feminists respond? They’ll attack Sarah Palin of course. For being a working class woman, basically. Oh how the creative class love to sneer and jeer at the working class and their wimmin especially. So all that energy which was once directed against Bush and his policies will now be directed against Sarah Palin and uppitty women, while Obama and his nearly identical policies will get their adoring support.

Some triumph for democracy. They didn’t want a change of government, just a cult leader they could believe in.

afrocity — I’m almost there with you. If only I could find some Republicans who are socially liberal, I’d join up too.

I bobble around the middle… social liberal, right of center on fiscal and foreign policy. Since Obama attracts a constituency that passed prop 8 in CA, I am doing some research….

I found a couple of websites for pro-choice Republicans. Moderate Republicans are not happy that the too conservative Repubs are trying to grab power after their failures. If the Repub party can finally shift away from the rigid far-right position on social issues, it might be a home for some in the middle.
