Friday night at the PUMA Bar and Grill

Here are some things I’m reading while I drink my fine boxed merlot:

Our good friend, GaryChapelhill is talking about our Narcissist-in-Chief.

Joseph Cannon exposes some of Rahm Emanuel’s past in his post, The Grandeur that is Rahm.

Lambert’s Just Saying inspired a exciting conversation.

There’s plenty of room at my table if you’d like to slide over and share a link. Although I can’t promise to be sober enough to read it tonight.

Updated to add this totally off-topic video:

  1. Two Xanax and a glass of shiraz

  2. first? must be a Taurus thing………

  3. I would like to know if this is a rumor. Obama was late to his newser today because his parent teacher meeting at his kids school ran late. If this is true, I don’t think Palin would have gotten away with it.

(I didnt’ watch his news conference, and I got that bit of info on a black gossip blog so it may be totally false)

  4. I had chocolate — just as good as the shiraz, not quite as good as the xanax.

  5. KiKi, I’m a Taurus too — it’s a good time of year for a birthday.

  6. ack! I wasn’t even first 🙂

  7. katie — didn’t mean to offend you with the Irish joke in the last thread! forgive me? 😦

  8. Angie back to Maya’s stupid comment. Where does she get off saying that Britain should be apologized to? Her comments are stupid beyond belief. Britain = Two Boer Wars, and castrating India. America was the New World –they had to get it from someone most likely Britain.

  9. from the last post for my friend afrocity-

afrocity-and remember the source of slaves was the west coast of africa tribal warfare was constant .

Being sold into slavery was often the result of being on the losing end of one of these tribal conflicts. Prior to the appearance of the slavers often the loosing sides men would surrender the women and then the men would be slaughtered along with their male children.

The appearance of slavers speeded up the cycle of violence between various tribes so each could eliminate the other and get the economic reward of selling their brothers into slavery.

Also Islam was encroaching along the Ivory Coast/Gold Coast of Africa and the native population was being forced to give up its aminist religious practices failure to accept Allah often ment a trip accross the sea in a slave ship.

To this day the qquest for tribal dominance in africa continues to no ones beefit. Ruwanda kenya nigeria…the drawing of national lines along old colonial concessions has not helped!

  10. afrocity — exactly — doesn’t Maya need to see that movie Ghandi again to remember? Hello, we were a BRITISH COLONY when we started bringing slaves over here.
And France right now there are “ghettos” were people of Arab descent live — the French people are very r@cist against them — remember the riots about two-three years ago by the French-Arabs because of the discrimination? Maya done lost her mind.

  11. Mother Africa is the birth place of the human race and today she still bleeds becausre of the qurk of natural selection that spawnd humanity there. If the contitent had haind site would she have even bothered?

maybe she would have done better to give self awarness to the elephant or giraffe?

  12. Angie, I appreciate your understanding.

  13. I missed an irish joke and a chance to be offended? darn!

    just kidding…..

did part of this community really split off this week? I missed that and really would not have expected it.

I miss so much being at work all day. it’ll be so much better when Obama starts paying my mortgage and utilities – I’ll have lots more time to blog!

  14. should read:

…because of the qurk of natural selection that spawned humanity there. If the contitent had had hindsite would she have even bothered?

  15. I have never felt the need to apologize for America. I go to Europe often and people would bash Bush all of the time, tell me we deserved 9/11. I would always defend my country.

Obama and his minions have some issues with the country.I don’t

  16. katiebird — we are cross posting on the threads. I posted this below:

katie — don’t thank me for understanding. I’m totally sorry — my grandfather used to tease my (Irish) grandmother all the time with stuff like that — I guess when you hear it like that & know the person saying it doesn’t mean anything “bad” by it, you don’t realize the sting it might have on others. I really am sorry I offended you. I didn’t mean it badly, I promise, as I’m a 1/4 Irish myself!!

  17. afrocity — exactly — I go to Europe quite often myself & I defend my country, I don’t apologize for it. I never hear other people apologizing for their countries.

  18. In fact I am more embarrassed about America electing Bush and Obama more than anything else.

  19. MEACHAM: He’s very elusive, Obama, which is fascinating for a man who’s written two memoirs. At Grant Park he walks out with the family, and then they go away.

    ROSE: Mmm. Mmm-hmm.

MEACHAM: Biden’s back, you know, locked in the bar or something.

    ROSE: (haughty chuckle)

MEACHAM: You know, they don’t let him out. And have you ever seen a victory speech where there was no one else on stage?

    ROSE: Mmm.

MEACHAM: No adoring wife, no cute kid. He is the messenger.

THOMAS: There is a slightly creepy cult of personality about all this. I mean, he’s such an admirable —

ROSE: Slightly. Creepy. Cult of personality.

    THOMAS: Yes.

ROSE: What’s slightly creepy about it?

THOMAS: It — it — it just makes me a little uneasy that he’s so singular. He’s clearly managing his own spectacle. He’s a deeply manipulative guy.

  20. afrocity — wait until BO starts doing stupid stuff on the world stage — then we can really be embarrassed. You know that “tour” he did this Summer? It didn’t go over that well everywhere — many, many where wondering wtf did he think he was doing.

  21. (giggle) Angie, I’m not going to repost what I wrote in response. I’d fall over my feet if I tried. But, here’s the link.

I really didn’t think you meant anything horrid. I was just doing house-cleaning.

  22. who is this robert?

  23. “Where does she get off saying that Britain should be apologized to?”

Britain is so deep in denial. They love to act like we’re this completely backward country, but they have all the same problems we do. Ooh, we’re religious! Well, guess what, you have as many evagelicals as we do. And? It’s not that we’re so perfect, but everybdy has problems, they just won’t own up to it.

  24. “slightly creepy” doesn’t even begin to describe it.

  25. “who is this robert?”

  26. Seriously — exactly — there is good & bad everywhere. I love Greece — it is my second home, but I don’t love it more then America — I can recognize some things that are better in Greece, but I also see things that are better in America. This meme that America is seen so “badly” by the rest of the world is b.s. –yeah, other countries may not like certain policies, etc, but they admire a lot of things about us too.

  27. What’s wrong with creepy?

  28. myiq — depends on the man.

  29. Hi everyone. I still can’t get over BO putting that stupid seal on his podium again. I’m trying to find a close-up picture to see if it’s got the same “possum” saying on it.

  30. bb — I think he “graduated” to the real Presidential seal now.

  31. Angie,

There’s a big sign on his podium that says “President Elect.” And apparently he wants to be addressed as “Mr. President Elect.” LOL!

  32. It was the same color and it looked like the same font. I bet the people at kinko’s mock the hell out of him when he comes in.

  33. Wow…Rick Davis, Mccain’s campaign manager, totally defended Sarah on Fox. Geez, that was nice.

It seems just a little slow in coming though…wonder if support of Palin from repub blogs and the Rasmussen poll showing Palin was the choice of 64% of repubs for nominee in 2012 made a difference.

  34. This is the final exchange. Charlie Rose, Evan Thomas, Jon Meacham.

ROSE: Watching him last night in that speech, he finishes —

    MEACHAM: Yeah.

ROSE: — and he sort of — it’s almost like he then ascends to look at the circumstance.

MEACHAM: He watches us watching him.

    THOMAS: Watching him!

    ROSE: Exactly!

    THOMAS: He does —

    MEACHAM: It’s amazing.

    ROSE: It is amazing.

THOMAS: He writes about this metaphor being a screen upon which Americans will project. He said they want of Barack Obama; I’m not sure I am Barack Obama.

    ROSE: Mmm!

THOMAS: He had — he has the self-awareness to know that this creature he’s designed isn’t necessarily a real person, and he’s self-aware enough —

    ROSE: Ahhhhhh!

  35. did Nancy Pelosi say “Obama is a gift from God”….I still havemy reciept where can I return this looser at the customer service counter at Macy’s?

  36. I think you’re supposed to refer to him as Mr. President Elect, but I’ve never seen anyone with the “President Elect” podium.

  37. “watches us watching him” like a true narcissist should.

  38. he’s not technically the president elect until after the electoral college votes but whatever

  39. “ROSE: Ahhhhhh!”

  40. Seriously — that is because no one before BO has ever had one.

  41. elderj — why is your name frenly now?

  42. Here’s a picture of the “President Elect” sign with a little seal at the top.

  43. but good point elderj! LOL — I hadn’t thought of that.

  44. Like that HUGE font on the word “President”

  45. afrocity, that’s what i wonder. I mean, you know that feeling you get when you have to make an oral report or a presentation or something, and you’re not prepared and you’re totally bsing? That embarassment, that sense of shame, that what the hell am I doing here talking about this when I don’t have a freakin clue? Does Obama feel that way every second of every day? And wouldn’t it be easier to just, I dunno, study up a little bit? God! I know his supporters don’t give a damn, but for his own piece of mind so he doesn’t have to fake his way through every day.

  46. frenly is the name I used to use long ago. I dunno why I switch back and forth

  47. Okay, I’ll have to give my two cents (or pence!). Seriously, I don’t know where you’re getting the info about Evangelicals in the UK. Growing up there you were either Church of England (majority) or Catholic. That’s it! Overall church attendance has been plummeting for years in the UK.

However, racism is thriving in the UK, same as anywhere it seems. The latest group to be bashed is Eastern Europeans. They are coming over in record numbers and take the crap jobs that most Brits won’t do (catering/manual labor/agricultural/factories). They keep the economy going, but there’s a myth that they are getting housing benefits or going on welfare, etc. It’s hateful stuff. Same thing I saw in California against Hispanics.

  48. The possumus seal had an eagle in the middle of it. I don’t know if that is the same thing. I’m probably the only one who cares anyway. I’m just so fascinated by his extreme narcissism.

  49. here they are so far …

hard to believe that is John Podesta …

  50. Seriously — he gives me the impression that he thinks he is so smart that he can do it “on the fly” so he doesn’t need to “study up” before hand. The fact that everyone — from the msm to his sycophant staff to his Obot supporters — tells him afterward how wonderful he did doesn’t help much. Plus, he doesn’t seem to have any intellectual curiosity.

  51. Seriously,

I don’t think Obama feels embarrassment in the way we would. He is so gradiose that he only realizes he’s gone over the top when someone makes fun of him. He doesn’t think he needs to know things. He believes he is so special that he should get respect and attention just for being him. He doesn’t need knowledge or accomplishments to be idolized. He’s a pathological narcissist, IMHO. Even a guy who has really studied NPD thinks so.

  52. Aaah, poor Tweety. Press Secretary is already taken. He was going all out for that job.

  53. Afrocity, I found something really odd about that victory speech scene. I noticed that after Obama’s rather dull speech, instead of enthusiastically applauding and cheering and celebrating in a sustained manner, the crowd was rather quiet just staring at Obama. Like the audience was in a collective trance. I found it really, really odd.

  54. I just posted a totally off-topic update to my post

  55. You think so, britgirls? I heard Tweety was going to run for the Senate in PA.

  56. Dear father mother god/des

I appreciate the thought of this “gift from god” but really if you would mind sending me the reciept I would love to return it to Bergdorf Goodmans….I Magnum or where ever you got it!

See I really wanted to get married in California this ext summer and this “gift from God” just takes up to much room. Also it comes with a fragile ego and when I put it in the cat box they wont pee or poop there. Miss Musetta2 says it would be redundant !

Please send the reciept to me as fast as you can-thanx

    your fan

    oh and Amen

  57. OMG, Katiebird. That is incredible. I was getting butterflies just watching it.

  58. fuzzy — LMAO

  59. britgirls, my cousins are Evangelical ministers, and their denomination is pretty active in the UK. I know that fewer people there go to church overall, but there are very, very few congregations of their particular denomination (I forget what it’s called) here in the US, there are actually more churches overall in the UK and in Australia than here. I’m not saying there are evangelicals on every corner, but considering the smaller population they have a pretty active thriving movement in just this one small denomination, and there are others as well. As far as I know, it’s been growing somewhat in the past few years.

  60. Wouldn’t that be nice, fuzzy, if we could just return him and get another one?

  61. You guys have to go watch the video Katiebird just posted up above.

  62. Wasn’t that fun, BB? It makes me feel like a child again.

  63. I watched Laura Ingram host O’Reilly tonight and she interviewed a guy who said that it was going to be impossible to write jokes about Obama because he was so cool. What!?

There are a million jokes to write about Obama starting with all the people he threw under the bus to get elected.

I saw a clip of his PC today and the man has never looked more out of his league. It truly frightens me to know that he will soon be our president.

  64. Bostonboomer, I was just saying that because Tweety made his big pitch yesterday with his on-air statement: “My job is to make this Obama administration a success. It should be the job of all journalists to make this administration look good because we are due for a successful Presidency.”

But, damn, if he does run for office in my state I’ll be wearing a “Down with Tweety” sandwich board on a daily basis.

BTW, I just heard about this spoof blog … it’s good for a giggle. The leg seems to think it’s some kind of oracle:

  65. I’m starting to relax in an, I-can’t-wait sort of way. I love it that he missed a chance to slam Hillary and accidentally insulted Nancy Reagan in his very first press conference.

  66. nobo — that is the new meme now about BO — Maher the misogynistic jerk said the same thing — there just is NOTHING to make fun of about BO. blech. I think everything about him is a joke.

  67. KB,

When I was a kid, I always imagined doing that–going all the way around.

  68. This is funny;

ere are the two sound bites, already campaigning for a second term, Barack Obama last night, Grant Park, Chicago.

OBAMA: The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you, we as a people will get there.
RUSH: Okay, I remember that bite. Where are we going? He didn’t tell the crowd where we were going, and the crowd didn’t care where they’re going. The crowd thinks they’re going to euphoria. They think they’re going to utopia. (doing Obama impression) “The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year, one term.” Now, some people think he’s trying to lower expectations. He’s making the case for a second term, but he’s also telling people, “I can’t tell you what we’re going to do yet.” “I’ve never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we’ll get there.” Get where? I mean you’re right, Snerdley, this is almost sounding like a line lifted from Dr. King’s speech on April 3rd, 1968: “We as a people will get to the Promised Land. I may not get there with you, but we as a people, we will get to the Promised Land.” April 3rd, 1968, before his death. The Promised Land we’ll get there, climb will be steep, we may not get there in one year or even in one term, but we’re going to get there. Where? Where the hell, where we going to get to? Crowd didn’t care. Here’s the next bite, The Messiah lowers the bar.

  69. Angie-

I used to love I Magnum stores really much nicer laid out than Nieman Marcus. I let a cleark in mens accessory talk me into an eel skin wallet their once when I had more sense than money…in the long run it saved me that wallet it demgnitized my credit cards!

I wonder iof they still exsist in gville we just got our first Macy’s

  70. I think it’s going to be a million laughs, as long as he doesn’t unleash a nuclear holocaust or something.

  71. LoL .. Katiebird … that youtube made my head swing … lol …..

    News quiz: week in review

    only 5 questions …

  72. nobo, was that Bill maher? He said that before.

Damn theseRepublicans who want sarah palin as their President–where were you people on Tuesday?

  73. Afrocity,

The worst thing is he plagarized that from MLK. I mean it’s a very close paraphrase.

  74. No, not Bill. I was an AA person that I am not familiar with. He has a one word name-starts with a T but I cannot remember. Kool-aid head to toe.

  75. “We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you, we as a people will get there.”

Oh for god’s sake, he is shameless. Hey, don’t forget “We didn’t land on Plymouth Rockk, Plymouth Rock landed on us,” that has a nice ring to it. Joe Biden suggests “a house divided against itself cannot stand.”

  76. I’m giving Obama a chance, but I must say that I was really sickened when President -Elect made that crack about frail, elderly, recently hospitalized Nancy Reagan.
As Duncan Black would say, document the atrocities.
Sadly, it’s going to be a long four years.

  77. Briana, oh the shame, I only got 4 out of 5 right. Apparently Cliff Richard is not the ultimate legend.

  78. as a gay man of taste I cant stand living in a town where a good night out shopping revolves around super-walmart!

Holy smokes….I am beginning to sound like Voldemort-the-blogger!

  79. OBAMA: There will be setbacks and false starts.

    RUSH: What’s that mean?

OBAMA: There are many who won’t agree with every decision or policy I make as president. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face.

    RUSH: Really?

OBAMA: I will listen to you, especially when we disagree.

    RUSH: Fairness Doctrine?

OBAMA: Above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation —

    RUSH: What?

OBAMA: — block by block —

    RUSH: We?

OBAMA: — brick by brick —

    RUSH: We?

OBAMA: — calloused hand by calloused hand.

RUSH: What’s this, bro, you asking us to join in the work of remaking the nation? That bite where he’s going on and on and on about sacrifice, gonna take hard work, the crowd, that’s when I finally saw some consciousness on their face, they said, “What?” I mean, the cheering stopped, a little puzzlement, looks of perplexed on these faces, “Whoa, whoa, what is this sacrifice? We, we gonna sacrifice?” So now this is pretty profound, setbacks and false starts. He’s echoing Biden. “There are many who won’t agree with every decision –” what about the unity? Now, folks, wait a minute. I can just hear you, I have empathy. I can just hear somebody, “Why you nitpicking Obama? Rush, we know these things are just platitudes.” The reason I’m nitpicking Obama is because his campaign was comprised of the exact opposite of this, and people bought the exact opposite. He didn’t talk about setbacks and starts. He talked about miracles. He talked about lowering the sea level. He talked about a new day. He talked about world peace. He talked about alternative fuels and no oil in ten years. He talked about hope.

Where was this setback garbage in the campaign? Setbacks? We didn’t hear anything about sacrifice. The only time we heard about sacrifice was when the rich were going to be — oops, sorry — was when the rich were going to be doing it. But now he told his own millions out there that they’re going to be sacrificing, too.

  80. why am I in moderation? katie plse release me!

  81. Rush who?

  82. {{{fuzzybear}}} Never — I’m never letting go!!

  83. was it the charles crack?

  84. bostonboomer, just wanted to say that I always love your posts and your earlier one was really powerful. It whipped up a great discussion. I will re-read the post and comments this weekend when I have more time.

I have to go but I thought you were right on the money comparing Hillary with the Somali girl. Hillary’s public stoning was the roll call vote in Denver.

    Good night all!

  85. Rush does not learn–don’t call Obama “bro,” Rush.

  86. Oh, Yes — Fuzzy. I guess it was. I forgot that we banned all mention of him. I’ll edit your post, if you don’t mind. (it is released)

  87. Night britgirls.

  88. Britgirls .. ;))) ….. I only got 3 out of 5 .. ;(((

    shameful …

  89. night britgirl!

  90. They called Rush a racist because he said Obama was from Chicago Thug Politics.

I am all for free speech.Thug is not a racist term.

I am not a conservative like Rush Limbaugh but it was sad to hear him because he is totally blown away by BO’s win on Tuesday and the MSM treatment of Sarah.

  91. afrocity — I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it — McCain/Palin won — it was voter fraud that gave BO OH (USSC let in 200,000 questionable votes that we know of) PA (Philly had 100% turnout!), NC, VA & FL. Nobody can convince me otherwise. You said it yourself — no one plans a spectacle like what BO had in Grant Park unless they are SURE. There is only one way to be that SURE in an election.

  92. Dear Obama bot(errr supporter)

I am sorry to tell you all your dreams and aspirations are on hold. I will need about 100% of your pay check for the next 4 years to deliver on 1/2 my dreams. Really you knew I would do this right…all that hopey changie stuff was just politics.

I really need you onboard with this 100% of your dream for 50% of mine campaign. So you will find 48 self addressed envelopes (you provide the stamps) to enclose your next 4 years of pay checks.

If you need any money for such luxuries as clothes and food or gas for the car, you can ask the 50+ million people who gave me the finger on November 4th. See I cant ask sacrifice from them because my Jedi Mind trick powers dont work on them.

so come off it and stuff you check into the 1st envelope it will get easier with time.

    Barak Obama
    possum in Chief
    F’ing General Messiah

  93. I love your edit ms katiebird could not have said it better myself

  94. Gays, blacks divided on Proposition 8 – 1 hour ago

“Many black voters didn’t see it that way.

“I was born black. I can’t change that,” said Culver City resident Bilson Davis, 57, who voted for Proposition 8. “They weren’t born gay; they chose it,” he added, reflecting a commonly held belief that many researchers dispute.

Although many of the state’s black political leaders spoke out against Proposition 8, an exit poll of California voters showed that black voters favored the measure by a ratio of more than 2 to 1. Not only was the black vote weighted heavily in favor of Proposition 8, but black turnout — spurred by Barack Obama’s historic campaign for president — was unusually large, with African Americans making up roughly 10% of the state electorate.

The exit poll didn’t ask voters why they voted the way they did. But Madison Shockley, pastor of Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Carlsbad and among the roughly one-third of blacks who opposed Proposition 8, said the vote was understandable. “Black folks go to church, probably more than the Caucasian population, and the churches they go to tend to be very traditional.”

  95. I can’t believe Ohio going blue.

But Angie I knew someone who moved from Chicago to FL and registered in both states. I think a lot of people registered did not actually live in those states. I wish we could get rid of the electoral college.

  96. Britgirls,

If you’re still here, thank you very much. Sleep well.

  97. bostonboomer, they just showed it again–It looks like it has the possum seal on it! That tiny seal coming off the top? I can’t tell if it’s Obama’s private label or the great seal of the us, but it looks likes his.

    I think you’ll enjoy this:

“What am I going to do about this report on bats? You’ve got to help me, Hobbes! OK, … um, first let’s make a list of what we know. Yeah! That’s a good way to start! Great! Number one: what are bats? They’re bugs, aren’t they? Yeah, put that down. #1 BATS = BUGS Are you sure? They fly, right? They’re ugly and hairy, right? C’mon, this is taking all day!”…

” Calvin- “Hi Susie! Did you write your report? Yeah, I spent all last evening on it. Did you? Well, when you know as much as I do, it doesn’t take as long. Mine took about 15 minutes. 15 minutes? Let’s see. I guess you won’t be setting the grade curve THIS time, Susie! Read it and weep. “Bats: the big bug scourge of the skies.” Note the professional clear plastic binder.
    Susie – “Bats aren’t BUGS!”

  99. Briana, I hate to sound callous but maybe Californians should have thought about prop 8, more than electing Obama and hanging Sarah Palin in effigy .

  100. I can’t even listen to him. HIs arrogance is too much…

Coming her to this site makes me feel so much better……..

  101. sorry about the messiah crack….

  102. poplicola — I love Calvin & Hobbes! Yep, that is about the level of BO’s mentality.

  103. afrocity, I hope that guy who hung the effigy is married, or excuse me I mean was married. Way to go.

Good news though, change is coming to teh Senate appropriations Committee–we’re swapping a 90 year old for an 84 year old.

  104. Afrocity … that’s simple – I agree . I’m here in Ca . .. he didn’t get my vote …

  105. I love Calvin and Hobbes too!

  106. Do u think Sarah will take Ted Stevens Senate seat?

  107. Calvin & Hobbes, Far Side and Bloom County

    The trifecta of funny

  108. myiq — yep, those are my favorite ones too.

  109. I would remain governor, those idiots will treat her even worse than they treated HRC.

  110. Seriously,

    Could she do both?

  111. Obama Fundraising Sealed Election Win

Is The Federal Election Commission investigating Obama’s illegal contributions?
If the FEC does not seriously investigate this then Obama’s campaign will raise hundreds of millions of dollars in illegal contributions again and it will seal his reelection win!

  112. She won’t be an outsider anymore if she’s in the senate. That would be a bad move. She should concentrate on doing a great job as Gov.

  113. And if she gets elected to the senate she’ll just be a junior member.

  114. Another thing that is ticking me off .. I’m looking at google news .. & I see two different stories on the page .. stating “Obama calls for a stimulus package” …

what a crock of crap .. they have been talking about that for at least what ..?? 6 weeks or more …now, it’s being presented as if ‘he’ just came up with it .. I didn’t read the pieces . .. just the headlines …

here is something that doesn’t surprise me, but it surprised the researcher …

Bullies’ Brains Light Up With Pleasure as People SquirmJohn Roach
    for National Geographic News

    November 7, 2008
The brains of bullies—kids who start fights, tell lies, and break stuff with glee—may be wired to feel pleasure when watching others suffer pain, according to a new brain scanning study.

The finding was unexpected, noted Benjamin Lahey, a psychologist at the University of Chicago and co-author of the study, which appears in the new issue of the journal Biological Psychology.

    much more at link ..

  115. Maybe Todd Palin could take the seat. If Sonny Bono can be a senator….

  116. Yeah, and she’d be the Senate whipping girl/scapegoat. I don’t see an upside.

  117. Good night everyone

  118. That would be really funny. Todd in the Senate and Sarah as Gov–the Palins are coming for you, Democratic Establishment.

The Obama teacher is saying teh vid of her berating the little girl is doctored.

  119. Stop the Obama Constitutional Crisis
Sign the Petition : 80,691 Letters and Emails Sent So Far

  120. Night afrocity

  121. Todd Palin can be a Senator and no one will ask about who is going to take care of the kids, because that’s Sarah’s job except she is being a “bad” parent and playing governor. for shame!

  122. Is there any polling of Palin vs. Jindal?

  123. bono was a congressman

  124. night fuzzy!

  125. I’m going to sleep too!
    Night everyone.

  126. Please sign the below petition demanding Obama KEEP AMERICAN JOBS FOR AMERICAN WORKERS – and NOT illegal aliens. We cannot afford to ‘spread the wealth’ with others who do not LEGALLY belong here. Besides, there are too many of US – American Citizens – looking for work:

Please pass this petition on….it’s really picking up speed.

Remember – Obama wants to give illegals drivers licenses – just think how they would now be able to drive all over the place picking up jobs that should go to Americans.

  127. night afrocity!

  128. Seriously, I don’t know. Who would have accurate stats?

  129. Derek, what exactly makes an argument an actual liberal argument?

“…moving in the right (left?) direction.”

Such wit coming from the prematurely addlepated!

  130. my husband says after listening to Obama he now feels hopey changey. I told him I wish I felt that way. I just feel scared. It appears we have given the schoolyard bullies control of the amusement park rides and there is no getting off the roller coaster at this point.

  131. I’d say that Rahm would make Markos’ head explode but that would require a little intellectual honesty and I think he gave that up for Lent or something.

  132. Our nation has a pretty unsavory past. Japanese internments, tossing American Indians off land we wanted. Salem Witch trials, the Mccarthy era, Lots and lots of really bad things. There comes a point where you recognize, accept and move on hopefully never repeating.

  133. CWaltz
“my husband says after listening to Obama he now feels hopey changey.”

Eh??? Obama does not even inspire confidence. Four years of listening to Obama, seeing Obama, reading about Obama… Good lord, please, Rezko, Berg, anything, spare me from the suffering!

  134. Thanks, firelight. I wish they’d do head to heads, though. I’m interested in whether the Republicans will go Democrat and a “I don’t care, give me Bush (or whoever their equivalent is), so long as he has a penis” group will form.

  135. Re the Palin/Jindal poll. Things can change a lot in 4 years. If the Republican leaders decide to sell and back Jindal he can appear as the frontrunner. He has that P thing after all.

  136. why am I always getting here late and posting just about the last comment on the threads ? I’m going to have to check with my momma and find out if I came way after my due date. I always thought that Nov 14th is 9 months after Valentines Day

Is the honeymoon already over ? The people and the press already asking questions they were avoiding just last week ? Isnt it a little too late, or a bit too early for those sort of questions. I guess the starry eyed stories are not selling anymore, so now the look turns into deer in the headlights thats a lot quicker than I thought. Does the koolAide hangover kick in that quick. oh well if everyone gets over it sooner we can get back to work that much faster.

And there will be a lot to do.once people loose their party identity blinders they begin to realize how much they do have in common with the people they used to think of as “the enemy” If enough people begin to think for themselvs and organize into a large enough block either the parties will come around, or we’ll steal their bases. Steal enough bases and you can get to home on a single. Life has taught me that all human endeavor is team work. that is what got us where we are today. the essence of teamwork is that everyone has a place, everyone has a particular skill. something they do best. or something they do so that another person can concentrate on some other task. Lions hunt in prides, grazers run in heards, Cudas swim in schools.Crystallizing a large enough block in the center, and finding a consensus among one of the most culturally individualistic peoples, maybe that should be the goal. The internet has given us the tools. It is time to see what we can do with them.

Obviously we are far apart on many things, that is what the traditional parties have always used to keep us down by taking our votes for granted. Abortion and gun rights come to mind as examples. The challenge is to come up with solutions that everyone can live with. breaking down the walls and communicating is the first step

  137. I’m interested in whether the Republicans will go Democrat and a “I don’t care, give me Bush (or whoever their equivalent is), so long as he has a penis” group will form.

The odds of that happening are pretty good, don’t you think? I think they’re starting now.

  138. Maybe it is not too late: the Electoral College votes in December.

  139. Troll-free new thread up!

  140. Tro!!-free new thread up!

  141. grubbsi, sounds like you’re describing the Great American Melting Pot that I was raised to believe in; it wasn’t until I got old that I heard people talking so much of groups and factions.

  142. I will never understand born-in-America citizens who can’t seem to understand what is good and best about this country; who do not bother to learn its history; the majesty of its constitution on which its system of government is founded; and the need to preserve the freedoms the founding fathers so wisely set to protect.

I always thought how lucky they are who were born Americans. But now I think immigrants like myself are luckier because we know why we chose to be Americans.

This past election results truly grieve me.

  143. Felizarte,
I was born here and I agree with you, and I can assure you that everyone I know does appreciate

“what is good and best about this country; who learn its history; the majesty of its constitution on which its system of government is founded; and the need to preserve the freedoms the founding fathers so wisely set to protect.”

This is exactly the reason I voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin.

  144. afrocity at 1:18 AM: Calitics does lay some of the blame for Prop 8 winning on LGBT energy, attention and dollars being siphoned off by the Obama campaign.
