One of Trump’s constant cries is that American allies aren’t spending enough on their militaries and that the US is thus carrying them. While there is a temptation to scorn this argument because it was made by Trump, it has a fair bit of truth to it, as Matt Stoller suggested today: The American military […]

Scary Sarah

But she's pro-life!

Run for your lives, she's pro-life!

As I have already confessed, I have one of those penis things, so I am no authority on feminism. However, I was raised by a single-mother feminist (I learned to drive back in the 70’s in a car with a bumper sticker that said “A Woman’s Place Is In The House – And the Senate”) who has been the local chapter president of LWV, BPW and PWP so I picked up a few ideas on the subject. This post at Partizane makes sense to me:
[Update by katiebird: Quoted text was originally published at The New Agenda by Artemis March.]

I began asking myself, what is going on with feminists as they rationalize lining up with their misogynist Party/candidate while engaging with this new rorschach named Sarah Palin? How is it that feminists—the Americans most caricatured, distorted, misunderstood, and demonized by the Right and by the Left—are themselves caricaturing, misrepresenting, and demonizing a woman whose policies and beliefs offend them? Is it too much to ask that they at least get their facts straight, and not push rumors and unexamined claims as if they were gospel? How is it that Hillary supporters who have aligned with the DNC’s selectee are exhibiting some of the behaviors they formally excoriated in Obama devotees (e.g., self-righteous judgmentalism, and the rejection, denial, or trivializing of information unfavorable to their guy)? Is it just too uncomfortable for them to bear the cognitive dissonance entailed by their second choice?

[…]

Sarah Palin is a rorschach for the Left and for feminists. She has exposed the boundaries and implicit rules for inclusion in their clubs, thereby sparking a much needed dialogue about what feminism is and can be. She has thrown into relief the limitations of establishment feminist strategies, and blown open the door to alternative strategies. Sarah Palin arrived on the national scene at the moment when many Hillary supporters were recognizing an old political truth: If you can’t walk away from the table, you have no bargaining power. If you have no alternatives, you will get nothing but crumbs.

There’s more, so you might want to go read it for yourself. If you don’t agree with it, don’t blame me, I’m just a guy with a penis.

BTW – My mom, in addition to being a feminist, is a religious conservative who attends a fundamentalist church. My college-educated older sister is a pro-life fundie feminist too, but has raised two foster kids in addition to her own. Maybe that explains why I don’t find Sarah Palin so scary.

  1. Oh man, rapid catch up going on down here in Oz. I just wanted to say hello to myiq and hope you feel okay.

  2. I just barely made it out of bed after the third try

  3. That piece on Partizane is awesome! Thanks for putting it up, Myiq!

It’s been quite eye-opening to see all these former leading lights of the feminist movement finding every excuse in the book NOT to support Sarah Palin. That, along with their very poor showing during Hillary’s run, shows how absolutely useless and compromised today’s feminist movement is.

Time for a new one that roars instead of submits. PUMA POWER!!!

  4. “Sarah Palin arrived on the national scene at the moment when many Hillary supporters were recognizing an old political truth: If you can’t walk away from the table, you have no bargaining power. If you have no alternatives, you will get nothing but crumbs.”

    So very true.

  5. She doesn’t scare me. There are so many issues where I disagree with her but when she talks about her being a voice in the white house for parents of special needs kids, well sorry to say I become a one issue voter. Bottom line is I vote for what I believe is in the best interest of my children. I have one with special needs and there is nothing, NOTHING more important to me than making sure she has a place in this world when I am not here.

  6. Hi myiq! Glad to see you survived Halloween & are back to your normal self (the kids were adorable, but I was starting to miss Capt. Spaulding).

Great post — the author you cite to hits the nail on the head. Women have got to have zero tolerance towards misogyny toward any woman regardless of political party affiliation — if they don’t they are worse then the men, imo.

  7. NBFH – What evidence do you have that this woman is stupid? And crazy Talibangelical?

Please back up your accusations with facts.

    Thank you.

  8. If Sarah Palin is a “crazy Talibangelical” then so is my mom.

I’m not gonna let anyone insult my mom on my threads.

  9. No Blood for Hubris, on November 1st, 2008 at 5:41 pm Said:

You are foolishly blind then and have apparently underestimated Sarah Palin. That will be to your detriment as it will be to the democratic party. Keep up the demonizing, all you do is alienate.

  10. No Blood for Hubris — yep, she sure is stupid — getting elected Governor of a state without the “right” schools and the “right” political connections is proof positive of how “stupid” she must be.
Anyone who is supporting the ticket that has Biden as VP has got no room to judge intelligence.

  11. wow, you people are quick on the draw! that bozo is gone already!

  12. Last I heard, Joe Biden is dumber than dirt. I mean, who goes out on the campaign trail and predicts death and destruction should his running mate be elected?

And Obama isn’t very smart either. Or do you think that insulting the American voters is really the way to their hearts? Now we’re “selfish” if we don’t vote for him!

  13. We’re not scared of Sarah either…but Grail Guardian is delivering one final blast about race ….

    Late in the Race…Race.

No, not all of us. Only those of us who make over…what is it this week? I think richardson has it down to $150,000/year….wonder if that is for an entire family…hmmm
No, those gun clinging folks in PA who won’t vote for him are not selfish, I believe they are catergorized as racist and/or redneck…unless of course they make over $150,000 and then they must be selfish, racist redneck gunclingers. phew. glad I don’t live in PA!!

  15. Hey, guys I lost my little kid gravatar – I’ve got back and did everything I was supposed to a wordpress.org but I keep getting that little green square -can anybody help me get her back?

Myiq – I have two sons who sat on the floor playing with their hot wheels when they were little as I went to my LWV, NJScommittion meetings and such. My husband is much evolved as well – and you’re right they are really aware of community needs and treat the women in their lives well.
I guess we did something right.

  16. fuzzy once again left on the old thread….

  17. madamab — that “selfish” line by BO really does take the cake, doesn’t it? Here is a man who hasn’t lifted a finger to help those who desperately need it in his own family & who (along with his running mate) is pathetically stingy in his charitable giving, but the rest of us are the “selfish” ones? I understand that just being in the presence of BO is a gift beyond all value, but what is Biden’s excuse for giving less to charity then I did as a student?

  18. From what I’ve seen, Sarah Palin is pretty damn smart.

She has spent most of her political life dealing with state and local issues, and she never had to deal with a hostile media.

But she’s a quick study. She holds her own in interviews and debates, and she’s got courage and some mad skills at speechifying..

  19. angienc – All Obama’s barometers are about Obama. If you don’t support him, he feels justified in calling you anything he wants to.

    That’s what a narcissist does…

  20. I gotta go, it’s the first of the month so I have to go stand outside Walmart with a sign “Will blog for food”

Ignore any trolls, I’ll zap ’em when I get back

  21. another Email schill from O for A….for your enjoyment my reply is provided below….

    Obama for America,

what you spent to lose florida… $ 20 million

what you spent to lose Ohio…. $ 15 million

what you spent to lose Pennsylvania…. $ 18 million

250,000 people upset and crying Obama-bots in Grant Park on November 4th and an Obama Concession speech….PRICELESS

Looking forward to your concession speech….the only speech I ever wanted to hear form you!

    Michael P Varvel

    PUMA Democrat

PS dont you wish you had Hillary Clinton as the nominee now?

  22. But, but, myiq! She is a woman, she is pretty & she choose to give birth to a down’s syndrome child — she can’t be smart!

  23. I’m a gay guy, myself, and forwarded this blog entry to my (former) best friend: a women’s studies major at WMU.

She said she “doesn’t know me” anymore because I support a woman who “hates” other women (Palin). I argue back and forth with her constantly about how she is no advocate for women if she trashes women simply on the color of their party.

She eventually acknowledged that sexism is real, but — eventually — not the utmost problem:

“And I also agree that Clinton has received entirely unfair and misogynistic treatment from the press (hasn’t she always?). This national climate is not at all supportive of strong female politicians, Clinton, Palin, Pelosi, the list goes on…I agree that we need to examine not only the language used but the attacks made against women in politics. There is no doubt in my mind that Palin’s lack of popularity is tied to her gender. […]

How these things enter into your decision about who is the best choice to lead our country is where I get lost.”

    I replied with:

“You want to talk policy, then let’s have a go. Although I’ll quickly note how I do admire your ability to give passing credence to “Yes, misogyny is here — and bad” yet still support women’s abusers on the so-called left. I guess you can just consider it necessary “collateral damage” for the greater progressive good: but then again, aren’t women and children amongst the highest casualties of such collateral damage in wartime?

C’est la vie. Such is war. Such is life. Such is “progressive politics.””

I can’t believe female friends of mine that are so concerned about media bias, sexist imagery in advertising and other pop culture, and so on and so forth — but are totally fine with Palin (or even, in this friend’s case as she was always for Obama, Clinton) sexism.

There’s plenty “This advertisement only shows a woman’s torso and not her head, feet or hands” variety of outrage and concern.

But “Sarah Palin is a CUNT!” “Iditabroad!” and a “Nailin’ Palin” porno — very overt hatred and of her based on her gender — is a sacrifice we have to make for the greater good of progressive politics.

    It makes my head hurt.

  24. Ha fuzzy! No wonder you never get any phone calls from the Democratic Party – they are bloody scared of you.

  25. you’re right madamab — I keep forgetting that the rules just don’t apply to BO.

  26. Missed the Obama don’t be selfish, vote for me. When and where did that happen/context of his remarks?

  27. O’Biden to appear in Gainesville Florida tomorrow Fuzzybeargville to boycott….

A week and a hald ago it was michelle and her “pretty” courtesy of the goddess of the winds…now its Credit card Joe!

When will this personal insults to Fuzzybears intellegence stop….and why couldnt it be Bill Clinton?

  28. I am fervently pro-choice, but I know that where one stands on the government’s role with regard to the right to choose is only ONE issue that concerns all women.

  29. Great job trying to convince, lansing! Isn’t it funny that “our” issue (being gay) hasn’t received any big attention beyond Prop 8 in CA this time around?

  30. lansing quaker — I liked your response — good for you. And you are not alone.

  31. An NQ commenter had referenced a clip of Arnie S the Terminator campaigning for McCain in Ohio. He was absolutely great and they had a super packed arena. The crowd was going nuts. The clip was from C-Span Road to the WH.

  32. Today has felt particularly hard. I just could not get a particular song out of my head, so I’ve just posted it. I’m going to get grief for it, but hey, I am already full of political grief.

    http://tdg.typepad.com/heidi_lis_potpourri/2008/11/a-song-for-this-political-season.html

  33. lansing quaker – What good has voting for “progressive politics” been doing us – men AND women?

I wanted the Democratic Congress to impeach Bush and Cheney and end both wars. They did neither. They didn’t listen to Hillary about the economy even though they were in charge. They allowed Bush to get away with warrantless wiretapping and immunized the telecoms for going along with it.

In terms of womens’ issues, they did allow a woman to become Speaker of the House, which was good, but they have put up no fight at all (except Hillary and Patty Murray) against all the undermining of reproductive rights that Bush has been doing lately.

Funny how we are supposed to keep voting for Democrats who refuse to address any of the issues that are important to me. But when a Republican does address them, we are supposed to ignore it and think he is evil just because he has an “R” after his name.

  34. scrubs:

Obama doesn’t like to talk about us gays much. Heck, he doesn’t like being seen with us.

I always joke when I get the obligatory “Republicans want to stick you in a furnace for being gay!!” sabre-rattle with:

“Obama was here in Chicago during our Pride this year. He didn’t attend. Instead he went to the salon and the gym. I guess maybe getting a haircut and working out was just celebrating gay culture in his own ‘special’ way? I feel the waves of unity already!”

  35. Yeah, Heidi, all the other more important women’s issues (access to contraception/emergency contraception, equal pay, equal access to jobs, adequate child care etc. etc. etc.) haven’t been discussed in detail whatsoever by Obama. Hillary has been absolutely brilliant when it comes to women’s issues – and she said kind words about Sarah, to boot.

  36. lansing quaker, on November 1st, 2008 at 6:04 pm Said:

Thank you for sharing that exchange with your friend. It has never been “cool” or “hip” to put women’s issues and women’s solidarity first. That’s a major problem when dealing with younger women.

  37. Angie my brother the Liberal Republican-has issues with his party’s treatment of LGBT issues….supports gay marriage(“why cant my brother (me) be as miserable as me?”)domestic partnership ( he wrote the local city ordinance) and legislating morality….he is catholic sends his kinds to catholic school but believes this country has bigger problems than focusing on abortion….

He uis tired of Obama getting a free pass on all the issues….he is voting no on prop 2.

See there are good decent republicans out there…..

  38. Jangles — the comment was at a FL rally — BO said that the GOP for attacking him about raising taxes are “making a virtue out of selfishness.”

  39. Obama is and has been horrible on LGBT issues. He refused to be photographed with Gavin Newsome because of Newsome’s approval of gay marriage in S.F.

He did not give a single interview to a lesbian or gay publication throughout the primary season (Clinton gave an interview to one in every major city and for all I know minor ones).

  40. We had 2, not one Obot confessions in the last few days
    http://edgeoforever.wordpress.com/2008/10/31/new-confession-from-inside-the-bo-campaign/
What both had in common was the info that Palin was really effective and therefore being attacked for this reason

  41. Jangles,

Jangles – Arnie definitely is helpful to McCain. I wish they had brought him out even sooner than this.

  48. I must be hungry – I meant Pride, instead of Pridge (thinking of fridge possibly?)

edge – I posted a little bit about that one last night (would have been the very wee hours for you all). Good stuff, for sure.

  49. scrubs: Agreed.

But I resent having O marketed me as some sort of political pariah regarding LGBT equality.

I say: Thanks, but no thanks for those promises to nowhere.

  50. Thanks madamab.

  51. fuzzy — I know there are good Republicans out there — like my father & brother. The meme that all Republicans are “evil” is b.s. pushed by the neo-progs to black mail us into supporting their unqualified candidate.

  52. There’s a special on the Salem witch trials on A&E … timely topics

  53. The hat tip to your mom says a lot, Myiq. Both you and she deserve credit for the fact that you truly do “get it” about feminism.

With appreciation for your insights and best wishes for many more to come.

  54. insight- Obama can’t even take care of his OWN destitute relatives!

  55. scrubs — they may have had a problem getting Ah-nold to agree — he is married to the woman who first cited the Hopi prayer “we are the ones that we’ve been waiting for” at an Obama rally early in the primary. For the sake of peace at home, he may have been trying to keep a low profile. 😉

  59. She looks taller than 50ft.

  61. Hillary stands taller than 50 feet too hillary has the ability to stand tall and bring smiles to all the faces that bask in her glow….I still say that Hillary Cares!

Call me a nut for being a Hillary true Believer!

  62. Is it too much to ask that they at least get their facts straight, and not push rumors and unexamined claims as if they were gospel?

Did you see the Eve Ensler piece that everyone was circulating via email? It basically repeateded all the debunked smears with a heavy dose of fear and loathing. I was particularly annoyed, because a liberal friend of mine immediately took it as gospel, because of Ensler’s feminist fame. This election cycle has really shown me that bigotry, narrow-minded sanctimoniousness are not just right wing qualities. It’s primitive, tribal ignorance.

If we have a really great weekend we can put in two last minute buys in Miami and/or Pennyslvania and/or Ohio and/or Michigan (we are keeping an eye on each of these areas and that’s the order of priority based on all information we can gather regarding the effectiveness of the ads considering the demographic they target.

  66. Heidi Li – People think I’m super tiny, but I’m really 5′ 4″ – average height for a woman in America.

    🙂

  67. You know, I’ve never run with the “organized” feminist crowd – because I am with Senator Clinton on this one: women’s rights are human rights and human rights are women’s rights.

I don’t have the patience to debate which “wave” of feminism we are on or whether having cosmetic surgery makes you less of a feminist.

I finally got a broad grin when I just now read your reference to “credit card Joe”

  71. Nice pic, myiq.
    She is hot and powerful.

From the right. Who would of guessed? McCain is bold, we need bold.
Sarah is all about service, if only ALL our public servants were. Our government would be almost as great as the people they are there to represent.
Anyway, your story just proves behind every good penis, there is a good woman (or two).

  72. I watching the Palin rally on Wraldotcom. Bob Dole just spoke & I am looking for GCH with Puma sign. Palin has not arrived yet. She is expected at 7

  73. Go Sarah!

She worked hard and has earned the respect that comes from doing what it takes.
Sarah is the best thing to happen for womankind since Hillary! Without Hillary there may not have been a Palin! Think about it.
    Go Sarah!

  74. I have the opposite problem — I’m 5’2 (not short, but “dainty and aristocratic” as I like to say) & people are always amazed when they stand right next to me as they always think I’m taller then I am — it must be my “presence” — though I’m sure the 3 inch heels probably help. 🙂

  80. They just corrected the video description.

  81. btw — did everyone here see the political flier McCain has been sending out with a picture of Hillary & him on the front & he promises that at the end of his first term we “will see a dramatic increase in the presence of women in every part of government.”

    here’s the HillBuzz link:
    http://hillbuzz.wordpress.com/2008/10/31/pennsylvania-democrats-voting-for-mccain-will-decide-this-election/

I’m totally down with the 30% solution — women of all political stripes have more in common with each other re: women’s issues, then the political party “leaders” want us to believe.

  82. sent a nice thank you and a positive response to Mr Rick Davis at John McCain told him I have issues with MR McCain and sarah Palin but do not question their committment to the American people. Because of that unless something earth shattering happens, I am casting my vote for Mccain/Palin…

I also asked if the next time Mr McCain spoke at the National Museum of Naval Aviation he could get my mom on the invite list….she would be so thrilled and I owe her one…being 25 days overdue and 16 hours of labor in an Iowa summer in 1962 with out air conditioning!

Mr Mccain has spoken there on occasion and I hope he will do it as President it s a great collection of aircraft going back to the early 1900’s and several space craft are displayed there.

A new section on women in aviation is quite good and the reference libary is a must for people intersted in Naval aviation.

  84. Hey myiq: Angie wants to do bad things with you! :-p

  85. fuzzy — it’s a deal!

  86. Heidi Li-

Credit Card Joe is comming here probably the only town in fla they can get a big crowd for him!

  87. Hi Fredster — I think he knows — he deleted my double post over at Klownhaus as I asked him to. I don’t think he is here now — he said he was going out for a while.

  88. Overheard last night while walking by two people talking alone at an outdoor cafe:

Woman: I taped 20/20…Sarah Palin is WONDERFUL!

Oh, and where was this cafe? Irving Park, Chicago.

[Not sure how significant that is, but hey it made me feel better 🙂 ]

  89. Angie I cant wait till we have the PUMA Victory Party….I want to meet as many of you in the big tent Puma Family as I can saving 40 hoursa on the books for this trip….

  90. I swear… I will read no more shit like this because if nothing else, he didn’t win it fairly!!!

    http://tinyurl.com/5enwb8

  91. I had the opportunity to express myself regarding Sarah Palin at a No on 8 rally today. Three liberal women began ragging on how much Palin scares them. I pointed out that Palin is, of course, conservative, more so than McCain, and was put on the ticket to serve as a bridge to the conservative electorate; and that furthermore she has every right to be on that ticket as we have the right to not vote for her.

That should be the beginning and the end of the story. But noooooo, the hounds of misogynist Hell had to be unleashed on her. I don’t know why so many people refuse to see what awful liberal hypocrisy that reveals.

  92. Republican Strategist is tearing up Matthews and Democrat on Hardball about race – he told him to name one time ……

  93. There’s one thing about Palin that I really like. Her state had a natural resource, oil, and she made sure that other people benefited from it. Alaskans got a check.

I find that far superior to the old fashioned progressive approach of using government to take wealth by force from one class and give it to another deemed worthy of help.

  94. Yeah angie, but he deleted the wrong one. He deleted the one about doing bad things with you and left to you!

  95. I am pumped….where is Pat Johnson? on another double date with Carol and Joe the Plumber and Tito the construction worker?

  96. guys — help me decide what to watch tonight — (I’ve seen them all before) — Misery, Michael Clayton, Baz Luhrman’s Romeo & Juliet or The Shining.

  97. I will read no more crap like this because god-damnit, he didn’t win fair !

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081101/ap_on_el_pr/state_of_the_race

  98. I’m back!

BTW – my mom only has a HS diploma, and she got that back in the dark ages.

She’s a “real-world” feminist, not one of those “ivory-tower” types.

    Them’s her words, not mine

  99. Dude, Carol – how do you even FORCE yourself to watch Hardball? You must have one strong internal haka!

Angie, you reminded me: last night/yesterday (can’t keep up with the time difference sometimes) you said you went to a Halloween party and your “gay” husband dressed as…… Are you really married to a gay guy?

  100. angienc, on November 1st, 2008 at 6:03 pm Said:
But, but, myiq! She is a woman, she is pretty & she choose to give birth to a down’s syndrome child — she can’t be smart!

This is how I know that that can’t possibly be your picture…you can’t possibly be that cute and that smart at the same time….;)

  101. Fredster — I saw that but the last time the singer says the line in the song he says “to you” and maybe myiq “prefers” that one! 😉

  102. AngiE:

Misery! Kathy Bates’ character is a strong woman who knows how to get what she wants.

She don’t take shit off no man either!

  103. SergeiRostov — that’s me, and I’m doing what I can for the cute and smart girls everywhere (trust me, there is a lot more of us then the OFB think). LOL

guys — help me decide what to watch tonight — (I’ve seen them all before) — Misery, Michael Clayton, Baz Luhrman’s Romeo & Juliet or The Shining.

I’ve only seen the first and the last…so I opt for The Shining.

  105. Sarah Palin has grown up in a world where women have choices. So she’s made them whether anyone likes them or not. And she wants it all: a husband, children, a career, elective office, the vicepresidency. For her, the sky is the limit. She’s part of the new generation of women who benefitted from the doors that were opened by Hillary and the traditional feminists. Her very presence is the embodiment of what the feminists fought for. She’s her own woman. She doesn’t need your seal of approval. Deal with it.

  106. Just for the record the Oil Royalty checks….or as they have been refered to in the past “the energy social dividend” was instituted years before Sarah Palin.

She has been strong in her support of this payment to the people of Alaska as a return to them some of the benefit of having a land so rich in natural resources.

Some of this money goes into a trust fund for the future developement of Alaska also.

  107. Sarah now.

  108. “to you” sounds better to me, I’m really lazy

  109. Ok — Misery it is — your wish is my command!

  110. Romeo and Juliet!

  111. Romeo and juliet-AngieNC its shakespear and you can be sure no Obots will be watching it!

  112. myiq —
to you” sounds better to me, I’m really lazy

    good thing I’m not. 🙂

Oh, cute, smart, *and* high self-esteem!

    [So of course you’re married…waaaah! 😉 ]

  114. fuzzy & scrubs — I know — I love that “modern” take on Romeo & Juliet!

  115. myiq2xu, on November 1st, 2008 at 7:12 pm Said:

Please tell your mom that for the ivory tower is for those of us women who work there and really pay attention to it just another real world place where women have to demand robust equality. And also tell her I admire her.

  116. Sergei — don’t forget modest! LOL

  117. Angie Misery….despite the Kathy Bates as strong woman the movie makes her out to be crazy is that the kind of woman we want portrayed on tv….at least Romeo and juliet has the benefit of the shakespearean language…..

  118. Heidi:

You tell her, she’ll smack me and tell me not to sass her.

  119. and the comic relief is well placed the bard was a master of language ! if it is showing commercial free than you have the benefit of no Obama too!

  120. I love the flier with the Hillary & John photo.
I believe a Mccain administration would be much more “Clinton x2 Friendly” than an Obama would ever be.

  121. I know this crowd probably knows a great deal about Alice Paul, but what an example of somebody who combined real world practice with all sorts of study. I just posted about her – http://tdg.typepad.com/heidi_lis_potpourri/2008/11/the-first-the-first-group-in-the-us-to-wage-a-nonviolent-civil-disobedience-campaign.html

I’ll stop being so self-promotional and serious now,l but today seems to be one of those where I just want to point out that I am tired of being told that sexism and misogyny have just up and disappeared – and I am realizing what a fight we will have to vanquish those ills.

For anybody who’s watching movies tonight how about some silly stuff: Austin Powers or Zoolander?

  122. I just love Hiedi Li she actually knows and has met Hillary (fuzzybear gazes with star cross lovers eyes) he is very impressed! I am also glad Hiedi is on our side!

With RD Darragh and Hiedi along with the HH ladies I guess we are bound to win this!

I requested they take cheeto’s out of the vending machines at work and the did replaced with the healthier Sun Chips….Its a start!

  123. In this context I would say Kathy Bates in Misery is like the Obamabots: she doesn’t respect that people have different opinions than hers and so instead of just accepting that fact like a mature adult she uses violence and coercion to get them to do what she thinks they should. That and she doesn’t know the difference between fantasy and reality 🙂

  124. Fuzzy:

I was snarkin’ about that. But my favorite Kathy Bates role was Libby Holden in “Primary Colors”:

[with a gun in her enemy’s crotch]
“I am a gay lesbian woman! I do not mythologize the male sexual organ!

The man tells her she’s crazy and she say “Cert-a-fucking-fiable!”

  125. Check out the forecast I just got from astrology.com:

“November starts off with a bang with Neptune turning direct on the 1st. It’s time to wake up from our dreamy states and re-orient ourselves with our goals and ideals. On November 3, Venus forms two squares — one to Saturn and the other to Uranus. Simply put, we are faced with a decision about whose camp we want to pitch our tents. The square to Saturn gives us nut-and-bolts clarity, while the square to Uranus, a desire for excitement and change.

Then on November 4 — Election Day in the US — Saturn is opposite Uranus. Saturn — experience — represents how you are structuring your life, while independent Uranus — change — challenges traditions and the status quo. The challenge is to build upon your experiences, while also being open to change. To add to the drama, Mercury the messenger, changes signs on November 4 and enters the sign of the detective, Scorpio.

Then philosophical Jupiter trines serious Saturn on November 21, and you’ll have everything you need to make solid decisions to create a more secure life. The Sun’s entrance into optimistic Sagittarius later that same day reminds you to schedule time for travel. Mercury joins the Sun in Sagittarius on November 22, which means you’ll have plenty of ideas and discussions about where to go!

The month also ends with a bang as Pluto re-enters ambitious Capricorn on November 26, changing everyone’s focus for the next 16 years. The maverick planet Uranus finally turns direct on November 27, ending a retrograde period that began last June 26.”

    Interesting, huh?

And with the sense of humor to know the classic response. 🙂

  128. Heidi:

For context, my mom was responding to some famous feminist author who was on a talk show selling her new book.

  129. Well, I can’t hang around here all day…maybe I should go over to the South Side (of Chicago) and wave a McCain sign…

    …oh wait, I forgot: I want to stay anonymous…and I’m not suicidal. 🙂

  130. myiq2xu, on November 1st, 2008 at 7:31 pm Said:

I was being a bit tongue in cheek myiq2xu – as I mentioned above I myself have never been overfond of people who spend so much time “theorizing” feminism that they don’t seem to stop and see what is happening to women all over the place every day.

I think your mom and i would get along just fine – I really do.

  131. SergeiRostov, on November 1st, 2008 at 7:31 pm Said:

Thank you, thank you – that made me laugh out loud. Much needed right now.

  132. Wow, I think it is going to be a landslide win for McCain – the aol straw poll has him winning 500 electoral votes!

(Unless aol users are Republicans – but the earlier straw polls showed trends towards Barack. Eeeek)

  133. Heidi Li – ZOOOOOLAAAAANNNNDDDDERRR!

One of my all-time favorite movies!

  134. Hiedi Li-

Didn’t the movie “Iron Jawed Angels” portray this story I was moved by it and also by Angela Houston Playing a key role as a member of the movement Ms Carrie Nations right?

I loved it and in the end Woodrow Wilson did the right thing too-look what happens when you are ready to walk away from the table…they set the good china and serve you what you wish!

  135. myiq — I agree — Libby Holden is the best Bates character ever!

  136. Posted by Gumbykat at PUMA’s blog. Feminists in action:

    http://www.completecolorado.com/penniesprotest.html

  137. myiq2xu-I loved her in that role too I was mad they killed her off in the end I dont remember anyone in the Clinton campaign being that character…but clearly Billy Bob Thorton was Carville!

Who was that Kathy Bates character based on?

  138. Hello madamab! I owe you an email, I know. I’m sort of resting now.

fuzzybeargville – yes, Iron Jawed Angels portrayed some of Alice Paul’s story, particularly the period around the time of Woodrow Wilson’s election. And, also thank you for the kind words upthread.

  139. Gov. Palin is “scary” because, with four to eight years of vice presidential experience under her belt she could run for the top spot– and win. That prospect must be “scary” for the Old Guard apparatchiks who wish to maintain control of feminism by manipulating the women of this country.

  140. Venus you’ve got it !

We are the embodiment of what the feminists fought for. We have grown up in a world where women have choices. We are our own woman. We don’t need your seal of approval. Deal with it.

I used your words, they are perfect !

  142. as we know Primary colors has a happy ending with the Hillary and Bill Character dancing at the Inaigural Ball together as Denzel Washington looks on….

Oh for the good old days befor donna B shoved her loud mouth back on the scene we really need to sow her yap shut in the future….it not mysoginy that makes me say it is my belief she cant oick a winner nominee to save her life!

  143. I want to live in a country where it is taken for granted that in any given presidential race will feature women in the top spots for the then major parties. What scares me is how far off that prospect seems.

  144. Heidi:

I think you and her would get along fine. IIRC, she also said she didn’t need anyone to tell her about feminism because she was living it.

My mom spent 35 years at the same job – “Secretary to the City Manager”

During that time the city tripled in size and her job became more like “executive assistant” rather than “secretary” but the title stayed the same.

My mom was born in Kansas and raised me and my sister as a single mom (except for a few years with a step-father) with help from my grandmother. I am a year older than Obama, but we have a lot in common.

Maybe that’s why I don’t buy his bullshit about the hardships of his childhood.

  145. Heidi just mentioned Woodrow Wilson. Wilson is incredibly important because he’s the poster boy for what went wrong in the Democratic party.

Wilson was a KKK sympathizer; he crushed dissent and jailed opponents and made G.W. Bush look like a candidate for beatification by comparison. Yet Wilson goes down in history as a great president because of the League of Nations– his personal contribution to the New World Order.

  146. Fuzzy – The suicide part was based on Vince Foster, but the book was written by Joke Line so it’s more fiction than fact.

I watch that movie to remember the good times.

  147. Thanks AniEm

Booo Obama! So Puma Power Chicks what grade do you think he should get? I’m giving him a D, but I might change my mind tomorrow and give him an F .

  148. sorry she cannot pick a winner to save her life…I believe she would not have put a bet on secratariat in the third race of the triple crown…..

List of candidates brought to you by Donna B and company…..

    Mondale-not Ferraro

    Dukakis-a winner there

Al Gore-A pick forced on her and we no dispite her trying to submarine his campaign he still won

John Kerry-Donna please remind me why you like weak men and hate strong women…

and now her piece di resistance’…

Barak Obama-Donna this is your que to exit stage right!

  149. Wilson was also another one-term wonder; he couldn’t figure out what the heck he stood for – after he left office progressivism/liberalism whatever you want to call it languished for the next 12 years or so – took FDR to bring it back.

  150. Has anyone heard anything lately about Grannie’s Health?

She should have less than 72 hours to go before she bites the dust!

    I’m joking!

  151. johninca:

There were also abolitionists who were racists – they wanted to free the slaves and then send them back to Africa. Other abolitionists just didn’t want to compete economically with slaves.

The Progressives also originated the theory of eugenics, which a few decades later we condemned the nazi’s for.

    Aw, shit! I done godwined!

  152. myiq2xu, on November 1st, 2008 at 7:45 pm

Obama went to a ritzy school in Hawaii; he was taken good care of by loving grandparents. I’m not saying that every day of his childhood was a picnic, but I don’t see him (or myself for that matter) as coming from the school of hard knocks. Now your mother…she sounds like maybe that is where she comes from. And I know other people, of both genders and all races who have. I hate it when people exaggerate how wretched their childhoods are – although, it does make me think of the most excellent Monty Python bit where each guy is talking about how much more dreadful his childhood conditions were then the next’s – and there I’m smiling again!

  153. I dont know if Donna B is the peter principle in action or the leader of the official fifth collumn inside our party, sent to demoralize us by making suer every nominee is a dog that wont hunt!

Barak Obama is living proof of the Peter Principle specally if he loses on November 4th.

No Peter Principle Gay sexist jokes allowed! I know I left myself wide open here!

  154. fuzzy — about Gore — the race shouldn’t have been that close — he should have won outright without FL (i.e. by picking up TN his home state, or WV or KY) and he would have if he hadn’t listened to Donna and “distanced himself from Clinton.” Distance yourself from the guy with the 60% approval rating because Donna has some holier-than-thou stick up her a$$ about Monica (rolls eyes). (a meme, btw, shared by MO — what is with these women? Bill Clinton isn’t there husband! If Hillary can forgive him they should really just STFU).

  155. Heidi:

We weren’t rich but we had what we needed, and some of what we wanted too.

My mom never complained because other people had it better, and she passed that on to me and my sister.

  156. Tweety gave Hillary an “A minus, possibly an A for her efforts” to elect Barky!

On Tuesday night, I hope his head explodes and strangles KO, Todd, Mika, Rachel, etc. with it’s vile contents …………

    CAROL HAKA 👿

  157. The discussion of the complexities of Wilson/the Progressives should remind us that very rarely does any one political party or figure have a lock on the right and the good. FDR was not strong on civil rights for African Americans and he was personally rather anti-Semitic,although not in his staff picks as President – the point I’m making is that it is a mistake to assume any politician or political party is always pure and good – like most other humans and human endeavors politicians and their parties are a mixed bag. Which doesn’t mean that some are better than others. It just means that being doctrinaire on the basis of label makes no sense.

And with that, I bid you all adieu. It has been enjoyable to spend a little time hanging out.

  158. Carol
The Reverend from Atlah made a good point. why was his grandmother not at the Convention at his nomination acceptance ceremony? Very strange ??

  159. […] Original post:  Scary Sarah […]

  160. Bye Heidi! Thanks for hanging out — I always learn a lot from you.

  161. Heidi Li my mother was a Navy wife she had long stretches of single parent hood and my father passed away while my 3 brothers and sister were in school and I was starting college.

We had my dad GI BIll to put us through college and thankfully mom was a bank manager we were not rich but we had a very god house because my parents planned for the posibility that one might not be around.

A nice home with a pool….and a plenty to eat…my mom was a strong woman. She also had a Palin situation when one of her sons at sixteen desided he would make a good dad about 2 weeks after my dad died. I think that is why she idenities with Sarah Palin.

  162. myiq2xu,

Your Mom is an inspiration. I am just now moving beyond the darkest of single mom days. It’s great to imagine my own sons grown. If they come off like you–brilliant funny and compassionate–I will be so happy.

Here’s to your Mom, and all the successful single moms here in our PUMA family! (And there are a few-noteworthy ones…)

  163. FDR was not strong on civil rights for African Americans and he was personally rather anti-Semitic,although not in his staff picks as President…

FDR appointed a KKK Klansman to the Supreme Court– Hugo Black.

Another little bit of real history that has been airbrushed out of the textbooks…

  164. Bye Heidi!

  165. bye hiedi li PUMA mother extrodinare!

  166. Bye Heidi 🙂

  167. Hello,

Tell me something good. This Obama aunt story is taking off.

  168. afrocity — Zogby has McCain up by 1 in yesterday’s one day poll & he is up 10 in Gallop. Take them with a grain of salt, but I tend to think the pollsters are starting to cya re: a “McCain surge” since their manipulation of the previous polls in favor of BO hasn’t been working! hee hee! The only thing we have to worry about is the rampant cheating to come from BO’s camp.

  169. FDR administration also tapped the honoralbe Daniel Maguire for a Supreme Court slot but Judge Maguire was forced to withdraw early due to his hodgkins disease he would cherish the remaining time left to him with his beloved Alys…they were my mothers great aunt and uncle and her godparents…My mothers name Mary Alys was a tribute to his strong wife…..

  170. Wow! Great gang here!

Hi Afrocity, Angie, Fuzzy (special squeeze), madamab, Carol and Johninca.

After senior orchestra concert (8am-sigh), and both lacrosse and ultimate frisbee games plus walkin two big-ass dogs, I finally get to be here!

  171. afrocity — his “beloved” aunt is an illegal alien, living in a slum on government assistant and making (illegal) contributions to BO while he doesn’t lift a finger to help her — this story should take off — it pretty much sums up his entire campaign.

McCain is going to win Angie!!!! I went to a McCain rally on Thursday that was taking place in my old High School, which I graduated from not six months ago!!! It was so amazing!!! My best friend and I were there and she took pictures. There is a great one of Joe the Plumber (He was there too!!!) with him!!! Here is the link of you want to see the pictures she took:

    http://mentalvertigo12.blogspot.com/2008/11/blog-post.html

  173. LOL joanie — I’m surprised you could make it all! That’s a packed day. I’ve been lazing around all day after last night.

  174. Afro city the tide has turned and looks like the creator father mother god/des has smiled upon her puma children….McCain is surging in the polls ….

Angie Gallop has McCain surging too?

I said it days ago that we would start to see the MSM meme/HAKA crack…if it didnt they would lose all credibility and more viewers…..

I also believe the 14% are starting to swing McCain!

  175. Obama’s “aunt” is living on welfare in Boston even though she was told 4 years ago she had to leave the county!

Here in my end of MA we are being fined $50.00 and threatened with having our weekly trash collection cancelled if we do not recycle. How do they know if we do not recycle cans and paper? They have cameras installed in the body of the truck.

Meanwhile this “aunt” is collecting benefits, sending money to her “nephew” for his campaign, defying the law, while everyone is boo hooing in the press.

    What a country!!!

  176. ” this story should take off — it pretty much sums up his entire campaign.”

To quote one of my favorite lines from Animal House,
    “He’s a P.I.G. pig!!”

    (Mandy)

  177. thanks for the link Little Isis — I love the picture of McCain laughing while Joe the Plumber is talking. You know, if Hillary was the nominee as she should have been, I would haven’t paid any attention to McCain at all, but now that I’ve been forced to, I have to admit — there is a real sincerity about him that I like (and which BO totally lacks).

  178. Actually Gallup has O ahead, but I believe Mac will win in an upset…

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/111661/Gallup-Daily-Obama-52-McCain-42-Among-Likely-Voters.aspx

  179. I have been safe so far. Chicago is preparing for THE ONE’s party. The tickets are gone already. I did not get one (darn 😉 )

  180. Pat see the polls are now swinging heavily to McCain its a good day the 14% undecideds are comming down strongly in the Mccain camp….

The MSM has realized they didnt pull off the fake obama is the enevitable winner so they have started backpedalling….just like I said they would!

The MSM cant let themselves look rediculous…but I fear it is to late to pervent that!

  181. Anyone wanting to get really pissed – Shitster is on MSNBC, but the McCain Spokesperson just reminded him that BO voted for Cheney’s tax cut for oil companies. He didn’t like it.

    Hi Joaniebone!

Pat go over to greta to see some fabulous pictures of Piper last night.

  182. Fuzzy, JMac is going to win!!!
Oh, by the way, McCain is going to be on SNL tonight, and so is Ben Affleck. He is going to be impersonating Keith Olbermann going crazy. It’s going to be hilarious. I will die.

  183. I swear, I could probably recite everyone of their stump speeches by heart right now. Recycled over and over again.

    First reform: Term limits.
    Second: Finance Reform
Third: Shorten future campaigns to no more than 6 months.

I think we have all reached the maximum saturation point. I know I have. Turning off the tv is a balm not to mention an escape from second guessing, tea leaf reading, and poll numbers. Yikes!

  184. i can’t believe the Obots today. They are saying that Axelrod is calling the Aunt story suspicious. WTF? So the Obots are saying it is a conspiracy.

  185. Great post, MyIq, I’ve wanted to write a post about women and this election for a while. We are our own worst enemies. I could go on and about that for a while but I’ll spare you and everyone that.

Oh, guess who got a certificate in the mail as a member of the Republican National Committee?

    Me.

    It came just yesterday.

  186. fuzzy — oops, in my excitement I got it wrong — it is Obama up by 10 — sorry all!!

  187. Joe told Mika to “f*ck the national polls this morning. (not really)” But, he did say it was based on Heavy influx of CA and NY polling.

They are all a bunch of liars.

    GO VOTE McCain/Palin!

  188. In other news, a 13 yr old Somali girl was stoned to death before 1000 Fans at a soccer stadium…..She was convicted of adultery after three militiamen raped her……….sharia law ya know…What Obama’s cousin Raila Odinga was going to allow in Kenya had he had won the Presidency there….You know, the Odinga that Obama traveled to Kenya to support & gave nearly a million dollars to…The Odinga that incited genocide when he lost…….

  189. Angie gallop has McCain behind I guess they havent gotten the Memo that the jig is up!

  190. Carol: That kid is just like her mother, a natural! Beautiful kid!I predict Miss Piper Palin for President in about 40 years.

  191. btw — Rass. has BO up by 5.
I’m telling you, Gallop only has BO up by 10 to discourage voters from coming out for McCain — the meme that BO had to be up by at least 10 in order to win started yesterday in the msm.

thanks for the link Little Isis — I love the picture of McCain laughing while Joe the Plumber is talking. You know, if Hillary was the nominee as she should have been, I would haven’t paid any attention to McCain at all, but now that I’ve been forced to, I have to admit — there is a real sincerity about him that I like (and which BO totally lacks).

I know. I saw it when I went to the rally. He has a sincerity and honesty and compassion to him that is comparable to Hillary’s. They both have the most docile facial expressions. At the end of Jmac’s speech me and every person in the gym, we were all screaming our heads off. He was yelling “Never give up!!! Never stop fighting!!!” and it was very moving. My best friend wants him to win too.

  193. angienc funny if she was running against on of BO kids.

  194. Not sure what happened to previous post —

10 PUMA’s from Oakland, CA went over to the HQ in San Leandro and called Nevada today. I only had one person out of a 100+ who said she voted for Obama / Biden because Sarah Palin has a low IQ — well, lady your’s is lower.

I had a ton of already voted for Johnny !!!

Lots of no answers — but overall – very, very good. A few Puma’s are in Nevada through Tuesday.

    God Speed

  195. I do not know one member of my family or most of my friends who are not voting for McCain. And this is a group of Dems, some from way back.

I doubt he will lose here in MA but the difference this time that most of us Dems who voted “party first” no longer feel compelled. Holding our noses going into the voting booth is no longer an option when they put up a candidate with his character and inexperience.

I may not be crazy about McCain but he is the safer choice from our perspective here in my little corner of the world.

  196. Obama has no issue with the free practice of religion…He supports nations that freely choose to practice Sharia Law in the muslim world, but expects them to not force Sharia Law on the non-muslim minority inside their communities.

It is r@cist to have any other opinion. It would only bring condemnation if the 13 yr old in question was not a member of the Muslim community.

I myself find this whole thing appalling!

  197. sod – the voices in my head don’t think you are coucoo!
afrocity — Obot logic on the aunt story — BO denied knowing anything about her immigration status, but yet his campaign knew enough to tell her not to talk ‘until after Nov. 4.” LOL They really are a sorry lot over at camp BO.

  198. Sarah got pranked by a false call with the French President. Shitster is going to play it. I want to know who taped it, was she in a state it is illegal to tape a phone conversation, and who hacked her cell phone number.

    CAROL HAKA 👿

  199. SOD:

Even Hillbuzz was inclined to think, even though they thought it was kooky, that maybe the BO and Sinclair stuff might be true.

  200. Anymore movement from the LA Times on releasing that tape?

The rumor I heard, and chalk it up to rumor material, is that the tape was given to the LA Times back in February when the primary was still going on and that it came from the Hillary Clinton campaign. The writer of the piece was asked to only write from the material on the tape but withhold it from the pubic until further notice on the grounds that if it became known that it was from the Clinton camp all hell would break lose.

The article published in April gained little traction and as time went on, it appeared that Hillary would win the nomination as she was cleaning up in the primaries at that time.

Since he took the nomination from her, the fear is that if traced back to the Clinton campaign, there will surely be riots if he loses as a result of the exposure. This is the rumor. Take it for what it is worth.

  201. Fuzzy:

Radical Islamic Sharia Law is one of the most evil things to ever exist. I have respect for Islam as a religion and really think it is a beautiful Faith that has been demonized by many, which is why I used to ignore the Obama/Muslim smears until Rev Wright and Louis F made their famed appearances. But Obama is of the Odinga kind. We all know how much he thinks of women. This is a guy who wants Larry Summers in his cabinet.

  202. the above was an expected response based on Obama’s past comments and books….i exxpect he will be issuing alot of these statements if he some how ever attains the whitehouse

  203. Carol,

Jake Tapper at ABC put the fake Canada call story on political punch. Jake Tapper is a shitty journalist and this is his reaction whenever a negative BO story breaks, such as the aunt story.

Obots are really small petty people.

  204. Isis the above was a snark sorry I am it total agreement with you! as always….I do believe you will be a congress woman someday I can’t wait…wish I was in your district to vote for you!

  205. Sharia Law is evil. And I do not condone any religion that follows such practices. It is disgusting to say the least. It should be out and out banned as primitive and hateful in nature. I don’t care how many “religious practitioners” adhere to it.

  206. Carol — the “hook” is that she should have known it was a “crank’ because of fake names of the Canadian officials. However, when you hear the guy’s accent — and, not to brag, I’m really good at listening to people with accents — you really do have a hard time understanding what he is saying. I think she does as good a job as can be expected. IMO, you can tell she is a little confused by some of the “out there” questions (as in, “did he say what I thought he said, can’t be”) as she just kind of laughs. Hear the call here:
    http://hotair.com/archives/2008/11/01/audio-palin-pranked/

  207. why can’t I post?

  208. Pat I agree to I was being snarky-sorry if I sounded like I was supporting it.

Even the catholic church stopped burning witches…maybe the practicioners of Islam should enter the new century!

  209. Maddow rocks metal with the veil and demonizes Palin.
Progressive only in her own limited realm.

  210. Carol — the “hook” on the Palin prank is that she should have known it was a prank because of the wrong names of the Canadian officials — but the fact is the guy’s accent & his speaking quickly makes it difficult to understand the names. also, I think you can tell she has some trouble understanding him but doesn’t want to “correct” him or ask him to repeat, as she kind of laughs over some of the “out there” stuff he says. You can listen to the audio on hot air (my post with the link got sent to spammy).

  211. three prior posts would not come up. that has never happened before.

  212. my mom always worked – she wasn’t forced to as she and my dad were married. I remember her telling me she had a college degree and staying home was boring. lol, I was a little hurt by that when I was a kid but she made it ok by pointing out that she did stay home until I started school, and she said what made it boring was me being gone all day. ha! I know better now 🙂 but anyway, she died 24 years ago and I miss her to this day. I ALWAYS think of her as a feminist, and as the person who shaped and encouraged my own feminist views. she was, however, a devout catholic and pro-life. I never saw a contradiction.

my older sister is a conservative republican and pro-life, and definitely a feminist – way more independent, assertive and successful than I am. I never saw that as a contradiction either.

what I’m feeling here lately is that maybe I don’t want to self-identify as a feminist any more. I’ve already been annoyed by the “wave” crap – a term invented by Alice Walker’s daughter when she was mad at her mom. this is an ongoing struggle and it serves no one to separate it by age. the goals are simple (equal opportunity and zero tolerance of violence, imo) and remain unchanged. of course we women differ on details – we are not all the same. to narrowly define feminism in ways that exclude many women hurts us all.

  213. Carol

You can hear her laughing in the conversation. She KNEW she was being pranked and played along with it. If Shuster thought this would make Sarah look dumb then it failed on many levels.

  214. Maddow is a follower and protege of Olbermann. She is the biggest disappointment since she climbed aboard that bandwagon. I had more hopes for her as both a commentator and as a female. Alas, not to be. She swallowed the Kool Aid and went back for more. Guess that’s what buys you a million dollar contract from MSNBC.

I have not turned that channel on for months. It has all the allure of a septic tank.

  215. angie, I was trying to tease you in a comment–three times (!) and it would not come up!

  216. I don’t know, Joanie — I don’t see anything in the filter.

  217. We can get a copy of the prank call, but all video and audio of Obama and terrorists are not allowed!

    70 to 75 hours!

  218. I no longer watch MSNBC or CNN.

    I am a Foxette woman

  219. Oh sorry, why wait, I’ll just go ahead and call it for McCain and Palin now!

  220. Has anyone included David Shuster’s name on the Hall of Fame for those to be run out of town on a rail when this is over?

Along with KO, Tweety, Mika, Rachel, Alter, Barnicle, and Andrea, this should clean up that sewer of “reporters” who are nothing but shills for Obama. You get what you pay for and they are selling the goods!

  221. strange.

  222. New thread up (this one is full anyway)

  223. Pat J — Sharia Law is NOT Islam — it is an example of what happens when men “use & manipulate” religion to achieve their own very un-Godlike ends.

  224. Pat – I have already declared Tweety’s head will explode on Tuesday night and the vile contents will strike and strangle all of them.

    M any
    S tupid
    N asty
    B astard’s
    C hoked …………….

  225. I’m going up to the new thread — my browser is getting slow reloading this one.

afrocity — you mean “FOXy” women (which you are)!

joanie — come up to the new thread — maybe our comments are disappearing because the thread is full.

  226. My mothers septic tankis offended! How dare you compare it to MSNBO….spetic tanks serve a purpose for folks who donthave municipal waste treatment….

Pat at MSNBO that odor serves no purpose but to allert PUMA’s they are entering a rotting carcass zone….

Thanks Fuzzy!!!! I’m glad to be included in your 30% solution!!!
Pat J: Actual Islam does not condone burning witches (The word “Witch” actually means “Wise Woman”. Which is why I never took offense to people calling Hillary a “Witch”. Because by those standards, it’s true!!! My hero is a witch!!!) Actual Islam follows both the Biblical New Testament, Old Testament, and the Koran. I own a Koran, and it is a lot like the Bible in that many of it’s passages are anti-woman, while others aren’t, and many of it’s passages are violent, while others are peaceful and beautiful. I always explain it to people by saying, “Al Queda is to Islam as the KKK is to Christianity. People like Osama Bin Laden pick and choose which passages in the Koran they want to to justify violence, and ‘jihad’ which is not actually ‘Holy War’, but many Westerners mistake it to mean that.” I own Benazir Bhutto’s Reconciliation, the book she finished right before she was assassinated, and she explained how radical Islamists actually pervert true Islam. She was a modern Islamic woman.
Islam views Mohammed as the last in a long line of Prophets. A lot of Taliban men couldn’t even understand what the Koran actually said because it was written in Arabic. Ironic, I know. And the Prophet Mohommen was actually married to a succesful businesswoman that was seven years older than him. He was a lot like Jesus in that he loved Women.
I would recommend one of my favorite books to you: A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Houssini, and also by him; The Kite Runner.

  228. I try to watch sometimes to see if they ever cover O’s associations.
Yesterday there was another shocker. Hannity found an Ayers book dedicated to the man who murdered Bobby Kenedy. A Palestinian, on the one year anniversary of the six day war. Why ? Because he was a friend of Israel.

  229. Little Isis: I have read both books. Thanks.

  230. afrocity

I was just about to ask if anyone saw you on the blog today.

  231. Beautiful post Lansing Quaker!

Thank you, thank you – that made me laugh out loud. Much needed right now.

hehe, you’re quite welcome – I hope you enjoyed my “Barack Obama is a Table Saw” joke on PUR…maybe even enough to buy the t-shirt 😉

Also speaking of Chicago, been looking around as I’ve been out and about here and there (a couple of miles of streets, plus watching all the cars on the freeway from an intercity bus), and the count is:
    1 bumper sticker
1 sign in a car’s back window that seemed to be from rally
    1 yard sign

By comparison, in 2004, I saw more Obama sign than this in just one block. Hmm.

since their manipulation of the previous polls in favor of BO hasn’t been working! hee hee! The only thing we have to worry about is the rampant cheating to come from BO’s camp.

Over at pumapac I refigured a Big Ten Battleground WI poll from 35-25-39 to 40-34-26 and Obama’s lead dropped from 13 points to 3.6 (moe 3.9) And this is the poll cited by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the state’s largest newspaper. Sheesh.

Oh, and another thing: will you marry me? 😉

Although during the primaries she kept claiming on her AAR show “I don’t have a dog in this fight”, it was pretty obvious to me she was in the tank for Obama after she kept referring to her frequent guest and Clinton-hater David Bender as her “political guru”….

…but it was when she told Tucker Carlson in no uncertain terms “You know, liberals think Hillary Clinton is a Republican” that I finally turned her off…I mean, making this kind if nonfactual statement – and one that purports to tell people how they think – are two hallmarks of the Obama campaign.
