I find it interesting that  many centrists are angered and surprised. They though these, arguably the most progressive members of the House caucus, would endorse Warren. Certainly by recent standards Warren is progressive and left leaning, but she’s weak sauce compared to Sanders. But centrists thought because she was a woman, AOC, Tlaib and Omar […]

Obama Internal Polling Shows Two-Point Obama Lead in Pennsylvania?

Today Steve Corbett of WILK radio in Scranton received an internal e-mail from someone named Grant Olin in the Obama Campaign in Pennsylvania. The e-mail warned supporters not to be complacent, because internal campaign polling showed that Obama is leading in Pennsylvania by only two points.

Corbett interviewed Sean Smith, Communications Director for the Obama Campaign in PA. Smith claims that Grant Olin is a young campaign worker who got a little overenthusiastic in trying to motivate his volunteers. He sent the e-mail to nearly 700 people. Olin has now been “talked to” and reprimanded for “going rogue” although he meant well. However, Corbett asked Smith directly if the information about internal polling in the e-mail was correct; and Smith refused to confirm or deny it. Here is the audio of the interview.

Apparently McCain’s internal polling shows something similar to what Grand Olin reported in his e-mail, because McCain is planning to campaign hard and spend a lot of money in Pennsylvania, according to a report I heard on Fox News a short time ago.

A diary by “Oujdi” on the daily Cheeto reported on the Corbett scoop this morning.

This has caught on like wildfire in the right wing blogs and seems to have raised their spirits.

This is important because, if it is true, it undermines the argument that we have a substantial partyId advantage this year.

A partyId of at least +6 this year seems reasonable, as many pollsters are showing. Many rightwingers are arguing that the breakdown should be a push, like 2004, which is ridiculous. However the rumor of +2 in PA reinforces their argument. And that’s the last hope they have left.

We need to get on this story as soon as possible before it spreads any further. I don’t want them to have any hope left, Let’s crush their spirits!

Hey, my spirit isn’t crushed. This is what I have suspected all along–particularly after Riverdaughter reported on her conversations with family and friends in Pennsylvania recently. What say you, Conflucians? Are your spirits crushed or still going strong?

As MadamaB says: PUMA UP!!!

  1. not shocked at all.

you got Obama calling PA folks bitter.

you got Murtha telling them they’re rednecks and racists.

    I mean, seriously.

  2. Shocked. Nope. We all knew it in our hearts. We’ve been paying attention and we know what’s going on.

Crushed? NFW. This sh!t just gets me energized and excited about voting for McPalin in November.

A BIG thank you to the Obama campaign for making it so damn easy to vote Republican for the first time in my life.

  3. I’m not shocked either. Those exit polls after the primary told the story. The voters didn’t want Obama then and don’t want him now.

Frankly, I think that if he is polling that close in PA then he’s going to repeat what Kerry did in 2004 or even worse. I keep making the point that people don’t want to hear: Kerry was a much better candidate than Obama and McCain is a much better candidate than Bush because he has more appeal to the center than bush ever did.

It also makes Biden’s statement about VA make a whole lot of sense. VA is obviously out of contention for Obama.

  4. I was thinking this very thing when I saw the story on fox that he was campaigning there. I think Obama is scared. CNN had a story that McCain had given up on CO and was putting all his chips into pennsylvania. that doesn’t make any sense, because why would PA be easeir than CO? totally stupid. FOX was trying to say that he was “mining for votes” in PA whatever that means. My first thought was, he thinks all the “swings” (NC, VA FL MO ) are safe so he’s trying to pull in PA too.

  5. BTW, all the media here in KY say that the McCain lead is tightening, etc. People here are p*ssed that Bush misused their votes, and Hillary helped the Dems here [yes, she mentioned Obama over and over], but I don’t see jack squat evidence of any tightening. As a matter of fact, I’m surprised by the lack of Obama signs anywhere I go, although I understand they’re plentiful in L’ville. What I see is huge number of signs for local/regional races. There will be a big turnout here, but I still don’t see any Obama-luv, despite all the damn constant shilling for him.

  6. It is so weird. Pennsylvanians racist,, bitter, guntoting rednecks??? I thought that’s what Pennsylvanians called US down here in the south….

  7. Gary – from your mouth to God’s ears. I have such unease about NC this year.

Oh, and there’s no way in hell my dad in Wilkes-Barre is voting Obama.

  8. Kerry barely squeaked by in PA in 2004. Obama will win Philadelphia. I guess it depends on how many dead people and Disney characters ACORN has managed to register there.

  9. After my train trip across the country, I believe that backtrack will lose.
As i said before there is a quiet wave of people not going to vote for backtrack.
They are not screaming publicly but they will act on Nov 4. I got more signs of agreement when I talked to an backtrack supporter and pointed out all his problems.
I traveled from LA to Phila and So Jersey so there was a good geographic variety that will not vote for him.
There are a great many of THOSE PEOPLE out there.

    COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS

    PUMAS,BUBBAS, AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE

  10. Polls are crap. I don’t believe any of them. Look what they said about Kerry in ’04, and we know how that turned out don’t we?

  11. Parentofed,

I looked at the state by state polls at Real Clear Politics a little whle ago. McCain is way ahead in the KY. He’s also way ahead in WV. The polls may have tightened a bit, but he’s up by 9 points in KY. You know better than I do, but I find it hard to believe Obama will carry KY. I’ll believe it when I see it.

  12. Pennsylvania is a true swing state.
Both Gore and Kerry had to fight to win it.
The same thing with Clinton in 92′.

McCain can certainly win this state.
The Obamites are having celebrations even though we have no voted yet. Telling as their “character”.

  13. Obama couldn’t even carry KY in the primary, and he will not carry any southern states in the general, remember you heard it here first.

  14. Going strong. Here in upscale suburban L.A., we have a Green Party sign on our lawn. Our neighbor across the street is also gay (like us), and he has a McCain-Palin sign on his lawn.

    heh. we’ll see what happens…

  15. Spirits not crushed, BB. Still going strong here. Well, as strong as is possible when one has a pulled shoulder muscle which refuses to behave. Maybe it’s something to do with the weather – absolutely beautiful here. And with the fact that we’ll be early voting come Thursday. It actually seems odd, almost anticlimactic, after all the long months of virtual battle, to know that within X hours, I’ll be pushing the button – the one without Barry’s name on it. Downticket I’m voting for some decent Dems, including Lloyd Doggett, but I’m still undecided re Cornyn vs. Noriega, since the latter has such a slim record (sound familar?).

  16. I am from Maryland … the northerners call us redneck stupid sutherners , and the sutherners call us damn yankees ..
I live with 15 driving distance of the Mason Dixon line that divides Maryland from Delaware .
So …I am used to being called things, but never in my life have I seen anything like what has gone on in this election campaign.
and fwiw , I do not believe the polls .
Maryland is supposed to b a deep blue state, and there are signs everywhere for McCain / Palin, and they far outnumber the bo signs .

  17. Those of us who live in the South, know what it’s like. Red, red, red and it’s going to stay red. The beating that home town boy Harold Ford got here showed me that there is no way Obama will win here. Hell, TN elected the only NEW republican to the senate in ’04. Every other new seat in congress, went to Dems in ’04. Obama will not win a southern state, and you have to win at least one to win the presidency. McCain/Palin will win. Mark my words PUMAS.

    Marsha

  18. I have to add, the real game changer who wuold have won the election for the dems is not running , I know so many more people who would have voted for her , even dyed in the wool repubs. I dont think bo wil win .

  19. BB: There are more reg Dems in KY than Repubs. In what should be a big Dem year, there’s very little evidence of Obama support, that media stuff is BS. McConnell will be back in DC. I’m watching 2 things: how many state Dems go down with Obama and whether prog Yarmuth can keep the seat he won from conserv Anne Northrup. He was ahead, but it’s tightening. He is prog, but he came out very early for Obama with ads for him, and Kos pushed him from day one. That is the L’ville area, which is more Dem, more AA, more liberal than rest of state. I have mixed feelings, but I can’t find it in my little puny heart to forgive Yarmuth.

  20. Soooo, what’s your color forecast for TX, griffith? (heh) This is an odd state, neither fish nor fowl – not really southern, not quite western. But bright blue it ain’t.

  21. I think any state Obama wins will have to be a solid, SOLID blue state, so TX? No I don’t think he’ll win. He didn’t win the primaries there and he cheated in the caucuses. I also think in any state where he LOST the Dem primary, he may lose too. Those people wanted Hillary, and I think they’re ho hum about Obambi and may just go for McCain since the powers that be have treated Palin so shabbily.

  22. “It’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Still pisses me off reading that quote. I live in PA. “Those people” here in PA are the salt of the earth. Maybe that’s why he hates us. Humble and unpretentious are just not qualities that he seems to value.

Anyway, it’s great being here because I’m surrounded by McCain/Palin signs. I definitely believe PA will pull the lever for McCain.

BTW – Helen, I’m glad you’re back. I missed your tagline (PUMAS, BUBBAS, AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE)

    Here’s a tagline:

This bitter, Pennsylvanian, atheist, non-gun owning immigrant is
    NOT VOTING FOR OBAMA!

  23. Britgirls:

We should form an “Atheists for McCain” group. Wonder what they’d think of that. Mine could be “Gay Atheists for McCain”

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :-))

  24. or someone could form a “Black Lesbians & Gays for McCain”

ok, I’ll stop but I could go on

  25. I have a dumb question. Does anyone know how “internal polls” work? I keep hearing about them.

  26. Griffith: I got that one!

  27. “Black, Hispanic, Caucasian, Vegan, Non-gun owning Atheist Gays, Lesbians, Transgendered Crossdressers for McCain”

    I LIKE IT!

  28. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 😉 It’s almost time for me to go home. I’m getting slap happy.

  29. griffithinc,

CNN claims that McCain thinks he can’t win Colorado or Virginia. But Fox says McCain will win VA. It will be hard for him to win without CO. I don’t know what to think, but I do think it’s close and I think the polls will narrow. Furthermore, there are at least 5-6% undecideds in every poll, and I don’t think all of Obama’s support is that strong.

  30. Washagee: They work differently because they’re tailored to answer specific questions about campaign strategy, demo breakdown for the candidate, things like that. Each polling agency has their own polling methodology but internals are designed by the specific campaign pollster and re usually a lot more specific than public polling.

  31. BB:

I think most people are getting totally sick of Obama, he has so damn many commercials on TV, he even has his own cable network here! Jeez. Who would watch that? Unless you want to be bored to death.

  32. Simply put, you know how some pollsters don’t ask you who you’re voting for but what you care about, then attribute you to a particular candidate? Internals are likely to just outright ask you who you’re voting for as well as what your concerns are to see if you’re voting “against your interests.”

  33. Wait — do you think that perhaps Obama leaked those and they aren’t real – he just wants McCain to take his eye off of FL and OH?

Just tossing that out there. If I lived in PA and I heard Murtha call me a racists then a redneck — he’d never have my vote nor would Obama — who the fuck do they think they are?

  34. I think Obamabots are going to be VERY surprised come Nov. 4th. That puny resume of his and his fancy speeches are not going to do the trick.

  35. BO and MO entertaining Terrorists and Communists and Slumlords and hiding Key Documents to their lives and unqualified to teach the Constitution much less represent and uphold it – but what makes the headlines?

GOP Campaign spent $150k on a wardrobe for Sarah and her family. Well guess what idiot media, for 13.5 years Frontier Airlines paid for my work clothes so that I was appropriately dressed for my job. And, I am pretty sure your doo’s and suits and ties and outfits are paid for by your employer so that you are appropriately dressed for the job you are paid to do, but have so far been negligent and missing in action.

SO, STFU! or consider it Income Redistribution.

    CAROL HAKA 👿

  36. Thanks, Regency.

  37. Washagee: You’re welcome. I hope I was relatively clear.

  38. I got yet another beg-a-thon letter this time from Joe “Credit Card” Biden. I will send it back with no $$$ on their stamp.

Anyone else here find it absolutely VULGAR that with Obama’s “record setting fundraising” that they are still shilling for cash???

No vote. No support. No $$$. NO Obama.

  39. griffithinc

    I like your tagline!

I’m watching Dancing with the Stars and McCain is running tons of ads. He’s spending money here … that’s a great sign.

    🙂

  40. Hmmm PolitickerKY says Yarmuth-Northup race isn’t tightening, he’s still ahead by a big margin. Think it depends on the kind of turnout in L’ville. I keep getting stuff from Kentuckians for the Commonwealth [a group I now suspect is in cahoots with ACORN], and their messages emphasize that traditionally young people don’t show up, so you had better show up this year. They’re doing all kinds of stuff to remind the little darlings.

I think the new McCain msg of higher taxes would work well in urban areas here.

  41. PA= PUMA state
I know some terrific NYC PUMA campaigning there – I’ll credit this to them!

  42. I’m going home gang. Keep up the good fight.

    PUMAS RULE!!!!

    Marsha

  43. Hahaha! 2 points; that’s gotta be within the margin of error as those of us cursed to take statistics remember…. Betcha that means McCain/Palin are going to 1600 Penn Ave next January.

  44. I just saw Oprah for the first time in a long time. She looks awful. I hope she feels the pain and suffering that she has caused each and everyone of us.

  45. griffithinc: I think the more people see of him, the more they realize how very ordinary and boring he really is. At least that’s been my experience.

  46. I’m not crushed.

    Definitely PUMA’d up here.

  47. McCain/Palin will win.

Just make sure everyone votes and votes often.

  48. Carol: You really don’t want to hear what I hope for Oprah.

  49. Pennsylvania will really come down to turn out in Pittsburgh and Philly. There’s a lot of Obama signs in Pittsburgh. Remember, besides having a large AA population in Oakland and Wilkensburg right outside of Pitt, you have three large Universities with Pitt, Carneige Mellon and Duquense with many other small schools here also. It all depends on turnout. That’s how Rendell won – huge Dem precence in Pitt and Philly, ignore rest of state.

  50. Hillary also won there. Withn the rest of the state. So, no ignore.

  51. Obama’s shilling for cash … Screaming for cash. How would anyone trust him on the economy? Spends millions on styrofoam Greek columns.

  52. Regency: Clear on that now. Never been polled. Could be cause we have an unlisted number.

  53. Well I hope McCain can take PA. But seriously we need to help Mac. Everyone contribute, make calls, get people to the polls.

Personally I am more worried about VA and NC.

I don’t think NC will go blue. But does anyone have any news about VA

  54. I was told again my vote did not matter Obama is President now so all us Hillary folks had better take a back seat because….Obama is off and rolling!

I am psyched…I think I have been saying that Obama Loses Florida (panhandle has been under polled and has real high turn out 65% state ave 54% ) Ohio (because its Ohio) and also Pennsylvania (because folks their are bitter and cling to god and guns)!

    There goes the election….Oops!

  55. i just wonder if Obama is proud of taking down the public financing of campaigns and placing back into the buy an office with pac money territory … quite an accomplishment

  56. popular vote for McCain by 1.5-2 million and electorial vote by 20-30 electors!

  57. 40 yr Dem, in Murtha’s district. Thought I would be voting for him, at least. But I am very disappointed in his comments. I am not a racist or a redneck. I am voting against Obambi based on his lack of leadership and poor experience, as well as misogyny, vulgarity, etc. After supporting Murtha all these years, he has rejected my support and made fun of this area, much as Obambi did in S.F. Picture my eyes opened and my mind changed. Paint me an Indie.

  58. Lied about public financing, has no plan for universal health care, doesn’t need workers, women, old people, rural people … Those cast-offs voters are more likely to actually get to the polls than are all his young naive kids.

  59. Dakinikat-the Dis-United Staes of Obama will not be a proud place to live….everything for sale to the highest bidder…

He will be the last Democrat ellected to this Office for 30 years…even for me that is a long time to be saying I told you so!

  60. Are we having a Conflucian’s podcast tonight?

  61. Well does anyone know how things are going in VA or NC?

Support for McCain as suppose to Obama

  62. Ana,
Well Biden conceded VA in his talk to those fundraisers in SF the other day. If the internal polls are showing Obama with only a 2 pt. lead in PA and the other polls show him with a 12 pt lead, can we shave about 10 points off whatever he has in other states?

  63. Hah, wonder if those internal polls are wildly hopeful?

  64. And as far as NC goes, Gantt went into the election with a larger lead than Obama has and still lost. So I highly doubt that NC will be going blue this year unless lots of Republicans sit home.

  65. roofingbird,

I haven’t heard anything from RD about blog talk radio. She must have something going on tonight.

  66. John Kerry made a joke about McCain wearing Depends? Did you guys hear about that? Icky!

  67. Greta is running a whole bunch of audio of Kerry complaining about Republican attacks. Kerry isn’t that much younger than McCain.

  68. We need to get on this story as soon as possible before it spreads any further. I don’t want them to have any hope left, Let’s crush their spirits!

    Too Late.

  69. Why would the Rs sit home when they (and we) have such an inexperienced and over-confident opponent to vote against?

  70. BB, McCain responded to the CNN story about conceding CO. He said he is not conceding CO, hence Palin spent all of Monday in that state.

  71. Kerry is an imbecile; no doubt about that. But if the party was disgusting, you ought to hear what goes on in Skull and Bones.

  72. Kerry joking about Depends? His age doesn’t leave him much defense from that line of attack. But the vicious point is that Dem “leadership” now think it’s OK to poke fun at bladder incontinence. Medically speaking, that can hit at any age if you’re unlucky enough to get a neuro disease or similar. There but for the grace of …., you know. He sounds like a mean-hearted man.

  73. Greta just ripped through some guy; they were discussing the Kerry statement about McCain wearing depends as opposed to boxers or briefs. Great’s expression was dead-pan.

Gee, I wonder why no one ever called Kerry a male-hustler going after the Heinz widow’s money? He had some money of his own but nothing like the ketchup fortune. 😡

  74. hey Fuzzy! were you in Orlando over the weekend? I was at a gay resort called Parliament Sunday night – there was a sign welcoming Bears and I wondered if my favorite Bear was there 🙂

  75. Great’s = Greta’s

  76. I go to walk the dogs & y’all leave me on the old thread! Anyway, watching Greta. I love Greta — she said “Sen. Kerry is no spring chicken himself. How old is he?” (He is 65) — and she actually referenced his “joke” about people who make “Cs in college end up in Iraq” and dared him to say it to McCain’s face! LOL Love Greta!
OOH, she is also bringing on Wright (I refuse to give him the title “Rev.”).

  77. Let’s crush their spirits!

I’m confused. Is that part of the training at Camp Hopey Changey?

  78. Hey Angleina, that weiner on teevee with Greta said something like “Dole used to use that same joke.” Then Greta had to explain to him that telling it on yourself is okay but by others, not so much.

  79. Greta really is a mensch! I don’t think I ever would have discovered her if we hadn’t had this weird political season……silver lining?

  80. Hey Fredster!! I know — Greta was great! I like how the FL Sec. of State called her “sir!” LOL

  81. myiq — where are you?

  82. here

  83. sod — that picture of Kerry on TMZ — good lord — I can’t believe I voted for him & was crushed when he didn’t win!!

  84. Myiq and Angie,

You two need to set up a meeting soon! Can you each drive halfway across the country to a central location? Don’t forget to take pictues for us!

  85. Hi myiq — I didn’t upset you by responding to Sal did I?

  86. I just know Greta is a puma. I think she’s still mad about what happened in the primaries.

  87. No, of course not

  88. bb — if I ever meet myiq in person there will be no pictures — at least not ones that can be shared in public.

  89. myiq — good.

  90. bb — Greta is a total PUMA.

  91. Heavy push polling here in SW Va. I get a mailer a day from the campaign. That said, the McCain Palin signs outnumber the Obama?Biden ones in my neck of the woods. I do not for a minute believe he has a 10 point lead in Virginia. I personally think Rass did some hinky polling of N. Va. I just don’t see it.

  92. I guess I’m not bringing my laptop and webcam then

  93. What does “internal polling” actually mean? Why is it more accurate, and if so, why aren’t other pollsters–the few that actually want accurate results–using the same methodology?

  94. We need a Confluence romance. I mean besides Carol and Pat and Eddy and Pat and Lou Dobbs.

  95. the polls are getting closer to the truth. but keep a watch on fraud. here’s today’s offerings:

21 Oct: NBC10: Delaware Co. Man Charged With Voter Registration Fraud
A Delaware County man has been charged with voter registration fraud, authorities said.
Jemar Barksdale, 34, has been accused of submitting 18 false voter registration forms, police said.
Barksdale was working for the community group ACORN
Officials said they believed he tampered with the forms to collect money from the organization. He has since been fired.
Officials said they are investigating 500 other voter registration applications that may have been changed.
ACORN said it is working with the District Attorney’s Office

22 Oct: NYT: Acorn Report Raises Issues of Legality
    by Stephanie Strom
Thayer Evans contributed reporting for this article.
An internal report by a lawyer for the community organizing group Acorn raises questions about whether the web of relationships among its 174 affiliates may have led to violations of federal laws…
Republicans have tried to make an issue of Senator Barack Obama’s ties to the group, which he represented in a lawsuit in 1995. The Obama campaign has denied any connection with Acorn’s voter registration drives…
The June 18 report, written by Elizabeth Kingsley, a Washington lawyer, spells out her concerns about potentially improper use of charitable dollars for political purposes; money transfers among the affiliates; and potential conflicts created by employees working for multiple affiliates, among other things.
It also offers a different account of the embezzlement of almost $1 million by the brother of Acorn’s founder, Wade Rathke, than the one the organization gave in July, when word of the theft became public.
“A full analysis of potential liability will require consultation with a knowledgeable white-collar criminal attorney,” Ms. Kingsley wrote of the embezzlement, which occurred in 2000 but was not disclosed until this summer. ..
Disclosure of her report, which was distributed to Acorn and 10 affiliates, increases pressure on the organization at a particularly troublesome time. Besides the inquiries into its voter registration efforts, Acorn faces demands for back taxes by the Internal Revenue Service and various state tax authorities. At the same time, foundations that have backed Acorn are withholding support.
Ms. Kingsley’s concerns about the way Acorn affiliates work together could fuel the controversy over Acorn’s voter registration efforts, which are largely underwritten by an affiliated charity, Project Vote. Project Vote hires Acorn to do voter registration work on its behalf, and the two groups say they have registered 1.3 million voters this year. ..
But Ms. Kingsley found that the tight relationship between Project Vote and Acorn made it impossible to document that Project Vote’s money had been used in a strictly nonpartisan manner. Until the embezzlement scandal broke last summer, Project Vote’s board was made up entirely of Acorn staff members and Acorn members.
Ms. Kingsley’s report raised concerns not only about a lack of documentation to demonstrate that no charitable money was used for political activities but also about which organization controlled strategic decisions.
She wrote that the same people appeared to be deciding which regions to focus on for increased voter engagement for Acorn and Project Vote. Zach Pollett, for instance, was Project Vote’s executive director and Acorn’s political director, until July, when he relinquished the former title. Mr. Pollett continues to work as a consultant for Project Vote through another Acorn affiliate.
“As a result, we may not be able to prove that 501(c)3 resources are not being directed to specific regions based on impermissible partisan considerations,” Ms. Kingsley said, referring to the section of the tax code concerning rules for charities.
She also found problems with governance of Acorn affiliates. “Board meetings are not held, or if they are, minutes are not kept, or if minutes are kept, they never make it into the files,” she wrote…
Project Vote, for example, had only one independent director since it received a federal tax exemption in 1994, and he was on the board for less than two years, its tax forms show. Since then, the board has consisted of Acorn staff members and two Acorn members who pay monthly dues.
But George Hampton, who was listed as a board member from 1994 to 2006, said that while he had been a member of Acorn, he had never heard of Project Vote. “I don’t know anything about this,” Mr. Hampton said.
Cleo Mata, listed as a board member on tax forms from 1997 to 2006, also said she was not aware she was on the Project Vote board. “If that’s what you say,” Ms. Mata told a visitor to her home in Pasadena, Tex. “I tell you that I didn’t realize I was.”
Mr. Slater said he “cannot speak to why Mr. Hampton and Ms. Mata fail to recall their involvement on the Project Vote board.” He noted that Ms. Mata, 63, was “in poor health.”
Project Vote assembled a new board this fall that Ms. Kingsley said had greater independence, even though five of the six new members have longstanding ties to Acorn.
Ms. Kingsley’s description of the embezzlement differed from the organization’s. In an interview July 8, Ms. Lewis said 90 percent of the $948,607 Mr. Rathke’s brother embezzled came from Acorn and the rest from its charity affiliates.
But Ms. Kingsley reported that $215,000 was charged to an Acorn American Express card paid by the Acorn Beneficial Association, a pension fund that has been replaced by a new Acorn pension fund. After the embezzlement was discovered, the Acorn Beneficial Association wrote off the embezzlement as a gift to Acorn.
Acorn contends that the fund is not covered by federal pension fund regulations, but Ms. Kingsley wrote: “It is nonetheless the case that a number of organizations, possibly including unions and charities, paid funds into the A.B.A. for entirely different purposes. They did not make those contributions in order to make a gift to Acorn.”
Ms. Kingsley also found that the Acorn Fund, a health care benefits fund, had advanced “a large amount of money” to Acorn, adding that it appeared that the money was used to cover “the cash shortfall caused by the embezzlement.”

21 Oct: Capital Research Center: Unusual $5 Million Grant from Tax-Exempt ACORN Affiliate to Non-Tax-Exempt ACORN Central Organization
We’re not sure if this is improper but thought it unusual enough to get it out there in the blogosphere..
One of its affiliated organizations is the American Institute for Social Justice Inc. The Institute is tax-exempt so it is required by federal law to disclose a great deal of important financial information in its annual tax return which is called an IRS Form 990.
The Institute disclosed at Statement 3 on page 20 of its 2006_990 form that it provided a $4,952,288 grant to ACORN, the non-tax-exempt Arkansas nonprofit corporation for “community reinvestment.”
It might not be illegal but it is certainly unusual for a tax-exempt entity to provide a grant to its non-tax-exempt parent organization.
    ACORN is a strange organization.

  96. angienc,

Just to be clear, it was simply something I learned about a while ago which I attributed only to the far left fringes of the legalizing prostitution movement. It’s somethign that simply jumped to my mind because of the topic, and I in no way meant to attribute that to you.

My whole argument against the legalization of it is that it exploits women, that’s all.

    myiq2xu, on October 21st, 2008 at 10:32 pm

If it seemed like I was trying to draw anyone into a nonsensical argument about empowerment, I’m sorry. It’s simply something I learned about a while ago. If it became a strawman, please burn it. I really just wanted to talk about the exploitation of women in a district that is full of the same so called liberal feminists.

  97. BB: Better not leave Sal out of the equation!

  98. Angie,

What we imagine could be worse than the pictures.

  99. I guess I missed what happened with Sal.

  103. BB:

    Don’t bet on it

  104. Eddy is sooooooooooo out of here until he wins PA for McCain and Palin. Pat is missing so I assume he is there.

  105. “Internal polling” is polling done by the campaigns for their own use.

In public polling, “The internals”, as I understand it, refer to issues and demographic questions as opposed to the horserace, “who are you voting for” question.

  106. I love how morons like Susan Estrich can go on and on about how no one cares about Wright because they are worried about the economy as if the fact that BO sat in that church for 20 years & then lied about it doesn’t go to his judgment.
Oh god! she is now playing the “I hope McCain loses with dignity & doesn’t go there” — Isn’t that similar to the “Hillary should leave the primary gracefully” meme?

  107. I think if Obama wins PA, it will be with rampant voter fraud in Philadelphia. I would not be shocked if on Nov. 4, the networks report Obama somehow getting 80% of the vote in Philly. he’s gotta find some way to balance the overwhelming rural vote.

  108. My Book Club just left and we polished off 5 bottles of wine!! This group rocks! Anyway a spirited discussion ensued regarding this election even though I had unofficially banned all conversation surrounding this mess.

    4. They all hate McCain
    5. Not to crazy about Sarah
    6. They all hate Barney Frank and KO
    7. They all decided I need to run for office

Of course after finishing this much wine they probably would have suggested I enter the Miss America contest as well. All in all, the perception from this group of 12 is that we are all fu*cked no matter who wins. Just another “literary” evening at my house!

    Dear xxx,
Election Day is exactly two weeks from today.
But right now, we’re facing an urgent deadline that will determine exactly where we can compete — and how fiercely — in the final push.
On Friday morning, we have to make the final, hard decisions about deploying our resources. That means your support by Thursday at midnight is absolutely vital.
Your first donation of $10 or more will provide resources urgently needed before the deadline. And you’ll receive a limited edition Obama-Biden car magnet.
Your support will determine how hard we can fight in key battleground states — and if we can expand our operation into some newly-competitive states during the final days.
What began in Springfield, Illinois, more than 20 months ago will reach its peak on Tuesday, November 4th.
We know what we need to do to win. But it’s up to you if we have the resources to fight hard and expand our reach.
Make a $10 donation to support this campaign before Thursday at midnight and receive a limited edition Obama-Biden car magnet:

  127. I think anything could happen with this election. You have so many people who are sick of Bush but have qualms about the inexperience of Obama. John McCain isn’t Bush but he is pretty old and though Palin is pretty darn good, there are some people out there that are sexist or think she doesn’t have enough experience. Ordinarily her lack of experience wouldn’t make a difference in a veep but McCain is no spring chicken. I think it’s anybody’s ball game.

  130. gary: You won’t believe this one! Go get Mawm!!!

  131. Pat — I really hope since your book club hates Nobama that that means they are all voting against him.

  132. Gary,

I’m so sorry. I’ve gotten to the point where I think of you and Mawm as an old married couple.

  133. I think Greta is a PUMA too. But even if she’s not I still love her. She has been one of the very few who have LISTENED to us during this campaign. Heck, is there even a “few”? There’s Greta… and maybe Hannity. Isn’t that about it?

Really? Well, you know that was my fault and Regency’s.
Who complained and what did they say?

  135. Pat J — of course I did — he was fine tonight — nothing as exciting as last night. He had a different panel though, which wasn’t as good as his usual one. He pointed out that BO should be so far ahead when he is outspending McCain 4 to 1. The one highlight: one (D) guy said something to the effect that “BO isn’t the devil that (the other R guy) is making him out to be” and Dobbs said “We don’t know that. He might be.” I thought that was pretty funny. But, all in all, you didn’t miss too much.

  136. SOD- my lame attempt at humor… guess it didn’t work

  137. am I in moderation? I swear I didn’t say anything bad!

  138. Gary and Mawm are definitely the *official* romantic couple of The Confluence. No doubt about that!

  139. Sal — don’t worry about it. We’re cool.

I’m loving how Greta is all over the voter fraud mess!

  140. lol..I was kidding bb. we stil need to do the married part though…

    I lluuurrrvvveee Greta…
I watch her lots. She’s one of the only journalists I like.

  142. gary/Mawm: We had a new member for the Book Club show up tonight. A terriffic lady named Sherry. Anyway, we were all discussing politics and MA and she mentioned that she is a justice of the peace and is performing her third gay marriage this weekend! I mentioned you guys and how we were possibly looking at a venue here in MA come February or so.
She’s in!!!!! The only thing she said though that might make a difference is she thinks that one of you has to be a resident of MA.

I will have to research this further but if so, we have the justice of the peace at this time. Is this great or what???

  143. umm, Gary & Mawm didn’t meet here. they’re kinda like the First Couple, the ‘Rents, the Dad & Dad of the Confluence, imo.

  144. I can’t figure out if the Angie/Capt Spaulding movie would be in the romance or horror section though…maybe it could be a mix of both…kind of like a King Kong thing.,..lol

  145. myiq — seriously? There have been complaints? What can I say, you bring out the animal in me. I thought it has all been in good fun, but I will stop.

  146. I’m in PA and let me tell you, McCain’s got an awesome shot. Don’t let any polls fool you into thinking differently. PA is definitely winnable for him.

  147. pat, that is fabulous. I have begun watching bridezillas so I know how to act like a diva. 🙂 I thought that MA repealed the law that said you have to be a resident. If not, you are close to the Conn. border, no?

  148. Ange: the remarks aren’t about you; they’re about me and Isis. You continue on your way.

  154. Regency & Little Isis — phew — I don’t think I can quit myiq!

  155. Internal polls are the ones the campaigns are paying attention to. I’ve sensed that Camp Obama’s internals must be making them nervous. Obama surrogates have been out in force with the r@cism smears. And here in “battleground” state Virginia, he’s flooding our airwaves with ads. Heck, I even get stuck listening to him on phone muzak! That’s not the behavior of a candidate with a comfortable lead. It’s more like someone running scared.

  156. Pat, didn’t they recind that so that out of state couples can marry?

  157. gary: I will find out the requirements for a license but is this great or what? Her name is Sherry Brown and she was a terriffic add on to our group. I would not consider her otherwise. So at least we have one issue out of the way.

She offered to get me information on venues and so forth so this looks very good going forward. I was psyched! And the Book Club “girls” are in too! You would love them.

You said it KK. As a Fag hag, I know just how much this issue has been turned into a sickening wedge for politics. It is a basic human right, as you said, and all of my men should be able to get married if they so wish.

  176. why on earth Fox says “suggests” in the headline is beyond me, but interesting that the figures so closely resemble the AOL weekly poll results, which have had similar percentages for months. links to raw data in the article. if url doesn’t work, google the headline:

Fox: Poll Suggests U.S. Troops Support McCain 3-1
A Military Times poll indicates landslide support for John McCain, who captures 68 percent of the military vote to Barack Obama’s 23 percent.
A poll by the Military Times newspaper group suggests that there is overwhelming support for John McCain among U.S. troops in every branch of the armed forces by a nearly 3-1 margin.
According to the poll, 68 percent of active-duty and retired servicemen and women support McCain, while 23 percent support Barack Obama. The numbers are nearly identical among officers and enlisted troops.
The Military Times offered certain caveats for its poll, which was open only to its 80,000 subscribers. Responses were entirely voluntary and were not focused on a representative sample of the public, as scientific polls are. The troops polled were also somewhat older than average enlisted servicemembers and included more officers than is representative of the military as a whole.
Yet judging by the numbers, it appears that the Democratic party has not made many inroads into the traditionally Republican military.

I don’t really look like my avatar.

Captain Spaulding is much better looking than me

  203. Supposedly North Dakota is close, but I’ll never believe that till it actually happens.

  204. In Virginia we get to hear all about how Obama has the support of some NRA dude with a southern accent. The Obama camp seems to think we all fell off the turnip truck yesterday.

He’s everywhere from 94.9 Star Country to on just about every fiippin TV channel.

  205. Myiq,

Please stop! I don’t want to have nightmares tonight. I have to work tomorrow.

  206. Quite frankly, in PA the bitter comment has left bad tastes in many mouths.

LOL — they are running that same b.s. ad here in NC! No one who is a member of NRA is voting Obama — you can bet the farm on that one.

  209. OOH! O’Reilly is going to town on the kids for BO b.s.

    Sr. Pompous Ass for starters.

I’d like to see Donna Brazile’s face.
She and I have a history.

  211. Hi kikit, yep, I’m in Sterling. And like you the only people I’m discussing politics with are family members, my husband and daughter. I’m seeing more McCain/Palin signs in my neighborhood, so I’m hoping Loudoun stays red, at least at the top of the ticket. I’ll be voting for downticket Dems Mark Warner and Judy Feder.

  212. Wanda Sykes on a detachable v*%$ina:

  213. little isis — I’ve married for love & for money — neither one was too great because they both involved marriage. LOL I’ve had enough of marriage to last a life time. But, it isn’t all bad – everyone should try it at least once.

  214. Heh. Even here in lurid blue Nashville there are a lot of McCain signs.

He’ll carry the state, natch…but I’d expect more B0 by now.

  215. what do you expect?

  216. As of July 31, 2008, the 1913 act was repealed–same sex couples from out of sate can now marry in MA.

  217. NH and NM both in play still???? Ay carumba!

We really *can’t* believe this polling…

  218. I like marriage.

I plan to try it 4-5 more times before I die

  219. Isn’t Findlay, Ohio the town that “Maud” lived in? Maybe you’re all too young to remember that show.

  220. You can have it myiq. Twice was enough for me.

  221. I’m off to bed – goodnight everyone

  222. sod — LMAO — wasn’t that the main argument as to how much more “electable” BO was then Hillary (BTD, I’m looking at your dumb a$$).

  223. now now now that is how Kerry plans to “Rock the Vote”

  224. The military isn’t nearly as republican as it is painted to be(In my 12 years I saw more of a 60/40 split). That said, the folks in uniform are going to respect McCain’s time in a uniform. This also begs the question again. Does the state with the largest military retiree population really have a 10 point lead for Obama? I just do not believe that Virginia has a 10 point lead for Obama. No way no how

  225. Good night Phlamingophred.

  226. LOL Angie! I married because my mother made me. Never wanted to get married. Still think that marriage is an antiquated, repressive, patriarchal power structure… And I’ve been married for freakin’ ever. It’s like: Aren’t you ready to leave yet? But my husband tells me that he can’t leave cuz then the cats and I will die of starvation.

  227. I’m trying to stay positive but I wonder if we’re deluding ourselves in PUMAland. The MSM tonight has been hitting Palin hard. NBC says poll respondents say McCain’s pick was a mistake. CNN has some bogus “breaking news” about the state of Alaska paying for Palin’s children to travel with her to conferences.

It just seems to me that there’s a lot going on in the media. It has to have some impact.

  228. My scouts in Philly have been reporting large numbers of McCain/Palin signs. She was shocked. I was stunned. This was also a month ago. Now that Joe W. is being savagely beaten by Pampers and Co. I suspect that this support is only on the increase. I think Pampers will still take the city, but necessarily by the margin everyone thinks.

Now I’ve noticed acoss the PUMAsphere that there has been a certain degree of dread about what’s going to happen on the 4th. Let’s face it, this is not the election day we had hoped for, but this is not the time to be despondent so I’m sprinkling this suggestion at some of my favorite places.

Strip down to your undies (or further), crank your speakers, and boogie your ass off.

  231. gxm!

  232. sod — of course it will — it looks like an effing joke now and we are living it!!!

  233. gxm: LOL! I really might die of starvation if Mr. EA leaves.

OTOH, I’ve trained him too well on the ‘always vote Democrat’ thing. I’ve got a bad feeling he early voted for B0 yesterday.

  234. Rob Zombie is about to appear on Scream 2008!

He introduced three great things to horror movies:

    Sheri Moon Zombie
    Captain Spaulding
    Fast running zombies

  235. Angie

I’m sure that guy was HEAVILY compensated for his support. Either that or he’s the dumbest MRA member to walk the face of this Earth.

  236. gxm 🙂 we lived in Sugarland forever – it was supposed to be a ‘foot in the door’ neighborhood but we’re so very bad with $$ that we got our foot stuck in that door.

…until we inexplicably moved to Alabama. as a liberal, I sometimes feel like my life is one long sociological experiment.

it’s a good thing I don’t seem to require like-minded people around me to validate my opinions. actually that probably applies to many or most of us here at the Confluence……{{group hug}}…….not that ‘we’ need it

  237. gxm — my mom & dad have been married for 40 years. As she says herself: “Your father & I have been married too long to get divorced now” LOL!

  238. LibOne, I’m just going on personal experience but it seems to me that there are a lot of quiet ones out here. Like my realtor who says that the only candidate who has her excited is Palin and who nodded vigorously in agreement when I went on a rant about the misogyny and sexism directed against her. So we’ll just have to wait and see, but what the MSM is “reporting” and what people are thinking don’t seem to be in accord.

  239. I do believe that republicans are used to being behind in the polls. Maybe Reagan or Bush Sr. were ahead in polls at this point, but I can’t be sure. All I can remember is the democrats always looking good and then somehow, on election day, everything changed.

Although, I also don’t remember the media ever being so in the tank for one of the candidates, they seemed to like Bush Jr. but I don’t think they ‘helped’ him quite so much.

  240. “It just seems to me that there’s a lot going on in the media. It has to have some impact”

    Didn’t in the primary.

  241. The Osbornes are on right now

  242. EA

Friends don’t let friends vote Barack Obama.

that said, I will have to use my femme fatale ways to make certain hubby makes it to the polls and casts his vote against BO (He wants to stay home, drink beer and watch the numbers come in). Hubby doesn’t like Palin. ……….at all. We’ve had some rousing discussions around here (I’m a staunch defender).

  243. Gavin Newsom is adorable! How could that a–hole BO not want his picture with him — oh yeah, can’t be in a picture with some one who is better looking then he (not that BO is good looking, he just thinks he is).

  244. SOD

I sigh over how little my generation has done to “advance” us. We have actually gone backwards. It’s very discouraging.

  245. Rob ZOMBIE!!!!!

  246. gxm17,

That’s actually my experience but i don’t talk politics much. Well, not this year, anyway. I have an AA co-worker who won’t say how she’s voting. She just says, “Voting is supposed to be a secret. It’s nobody’s business.” For some reason I think that”s code for, “I’m not voting for Obama”.

  247. kiki5, I love those Sugarland contemporaries. We live in Lowes Island. Don’t know if it existed when you lived here but it’s basically right up the street. Loudoun has seen an influx of younger, more liberal folks but it’s still pretty red out here. Coming for Alexandria it took some getting used to.

  248. sod — “high opinions of their own opinion” LOL — so true. I read an article on how the exit polling is off — younger, more liberal voters are enthused to talk to the pollsters; older, more conservative voters don’t want to talk to the pollsters.

  249. angie — I have the same thoughts everytime!

SOD – you are on target with the exit poll remarks

  255. Carol…did you catch Eddy’s massive eyeroll when he said that today?

  256. Eleanor A, I think my husband may be swayed to vote for McCain. He’s such a die-hard liberal and has been dead set on voting for McKinney. But he’s also as much a feminist as I am and he’s been disgusted by the misogyny and sexism from Camp Obama. He even said the other day that a vote for McKinney was just a protest vote but a vote for McCain is a vote against Obama and his vile sexist tactics. (Okay, he didn’t say vile, I added that for “oratorial” impact.)

  261. SciFi actresses. I love the woman who played the Borg queen (Alice something). And then there’s Starbuck, Kara Thrace is great in that role. Do not get me started on SciFi actresses. I could go on and on.

  262. Me too SOD. Night all.

  263. night sod! Oh, did you see Greta get into Wright, Ayers & Atorn tonight? I think McCain’s statement today was just so he could “take the high road.”

Darn…I’ve seen the lewd ones….can someone point me to the lascivious one? I’d love to read them. 😉

  269. Not to spur anything on but angie and myiq, if you have laptops with built-in web-cams, skype is a great free communication tool!

  270. Hey myiq….gee whiz. 😉

  271. Where are the polls right now? Earlier today I read that McCain was narrowing Obama’s lead and now I just read that Obama is ten points ahead of McCain and gaining in many states. Who am I to believe? Anyway, I really do think that McCain is in trouble. I don’t know what he and the GOP have planned next but it is odd to see them not putting up a fight right about now. I hope McCain can pull a surprise win in PA. He seriously needs to concentrate on PA, OH, and FL right now. I don’t know any other way he can win this election.

  272. DFV… I disagree. the fact that they are pushing these lies so hard means they must be afraid, and they have to have evidence for that fear. If they really believed they were that far ahead they wouldn’t be so vicious. I just hope it backfires and suppresses their vote. remember whenever they did this in primary to supress votes it never worked. It always ended up closer than the polls indicated.

  273. I hope you’re right Gary. I feel that this post is closer to the truth than many of the NBC and NYT polls right now which are obviously in the tank for Obama. Yes, the one good thing about good poll numbers for Obama is that it might keep some kids at home. I do think that the election will be much closer than what the current polls predict but that Obama still has the upper hand simply because he has a D after his name along with the money and the media behind him. I’m still hoping the GOP has still got it in them for an October surprise.

  274. angienc, — I live in the bay area and have met Gavin several times — he’s terribly sweet and I must say if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t have gay marriage. I must admit though he does remind me a bit of barry hussain — flowery talk, appeasing to the eye — but Gavin hasn’t done a whole lot —– just my opinion. Then again it’s not like he was running against a Hillary type. Gavin is ever so gracious — not the egotistical asshole barry hussain is.

  275. Hey, guys, I took a little break today. I had some work to do tonight and it took me awhile to disconnect from it. So, what did I miss?

  276. The Warrior tonight over at No Quarter radio was really pessimistic tonight about McCain. Jennifer Rubin was a bit less gloom and doom. Seeing this post makes me feel better!

  277. Disenchafranchiesed Voter…Jennifer Rubin didn’t see any one big October surprise.

  278. I meant DisenfranchiseVoter….I think my brain was combining “Disenchanted” and “Disenfranchised” …both true! LOL!

  279. Scream was a horror movie without supernatural element. I think if it is supernatural it would fit into sci-fi

  280. Well this eastern pennsylvanian is shocked… simply shocked that there are so many racists in my state…. shocked…. but ya know I’ve been called a racist and I live in eastern PA…. just because I don’t support Obama…. so I guess there are racists on both ends of the state!!!!…Murtha you are wrong, we are everywhere… and just because I choose to not vote for Obama does not make me a racist… I say those Western Pennsylvanians are just as smart as I am…LOL

  281. I cannot get out.

  282. Lil Isis, come find me. I can’t post on the new thread for some reason. Hillary’s safe here with me but we’re trapped in the PAAST.

    http://www.hillaryclintonissexy.com/

  284. Not even kidding, I cannot post in the new thread. I have been trying since 12:50 and it will not let me post. I was watching golden girls and the next thing I know is someone is jacking my wife and not letting me defend her.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstall firefox, restarted my comp twice as well as my browser. No luck.

  285. LI: I saw it and I Love that website. They should update it with some of Hill’s on the campaign trail hot looks.

And now she’s “our” wife? I thought she was your wife from what you wrote on the thread. Just because I was mute, didn’t make me blind, lady!

  286. I am watching Fresh Prince of Belair. Regency, why are you trapped here???? The Winky one and I miss you and the pantsuited lover.

  287. Reg, maybe Gary, whose thread it is that’s haunting you, mistakenly put you in the tr0ll bin. But I’m just guessing. Pretty funny, though, your being trapped in a thread.

  288. The Pantsuited lover has been watching Golden Girls and the Nanny with me. Seriously took her pantsuit hostage for some odd reason so she’s a little chilly but I’ve wrapped her up in a nice Oxford Hoodie so she’s warming up nicely.

  310. Regency:

Maybe if you finish it and post it you will be able to comment on it as a new thread.

    LOL

This thread is crazy hard to load.

  316. Some good news for everybody. People are finally waking up.

  317. Oh, that is good news John. Thanks.

  318. Lil Isis: Pantsuit Wife is already in bed. She was going to stay up to proofread the post but it was just too much for her. She’s been so busy lately, poor sweetheart.

    New post!

  319. There will be a big turnout here, but I still don’t see any Obama-luv, despite all the damn constant shilling for him

    **

I live in So. Indiana – I know that Louisville has a LARGE population of AA’s, along with a lot of white far-left, goody-two-shoes liberals but I think the OUTSKIRTS of Louisville and the MOUNTAINS of Kentucky – where the ‘everyday’ Americans live – will be key for McCain/Palin.

  320. I agree that Obama gets NO southern states. And I’ll believe he takes VA when I see it. The Democrats have a crazy hardon for VA and yet they never, never win it…the Webb victory made them truly crazy, but they forget that Webb is a former Puggie, has a military background, and barely won in a squeaker after his opponent’s “macaca” meltdown.

swanspirit, another Marylander here! Where you are happens to be a pretty red part of the state thus all the McCain signs…but rest assured, we ALWAYS go blue in the GE. I live in a red county, too, but…normally I’m glad Md. is such a blue state but I kinda wish that this time, my fellow Marylanders would whack out and do what we did when we (well, not me) flipped out and elected a Republican gov…remember all the “Another Democrat for Ehrlich” bumper stickers? Haven’t seen any “Democrat for McCain” ones, sadly…

So Obama gets the Land of Pleasant Living, but NOT
our neighbor across the Chesapeake!! You heard it here first 🙂

  321. “I know so many more people who would have voted for her , even dyed in the wool repubs”

Amen. This too. Many, many, many Repubs have told me they would have voted for her over McCain. None are voting BO.

  322. Lifelong Northern Virginia Democrat here voting for McCain/Palin. Hubby just mentioned this morning that the sexism coming from Camp Obama is so bad that he feels he needs to vote for McPalin to send them a message. So there’s two of us who will (for once) be trying to keep Virginia red!

  323. Rasmussen has McCain up by 9 in West Virginia, by 2 in Ohio, by 1 in Florida and down by 3 in North Carolina. Zogby new polls has McCain up in Nevada by 6.5 , Colorada tied and New Mexico tied. If the the number on Pennsylvania is true and all these battle ground states trending the way they are , McCain has a good shot at winning.

  324. Obviously I live in Philadelphia, which is a liberal, (except for some areas), union, dark-blue town. Actually, people are more interested in the World Series right now, but — Philly will definitely go for Obama. However, I don’t think by as large as margin as we did for Kerry. Most of the enthusiasm I see for him is on the part of AA’s and highly-educated, well-paid liberals and college students from Drexel, UPenn, Temple, etc. In the more lower middle-class/working class areas of the city, such as South Philadelphia and parts of the Northeast, his support is weak. For example, in Mayfair, a strongly Irish-Catholic, working class area, there are McCain signs all over. Obama recently had a rally at the Mayfair Diner, and union officials admitted that most of the people attending it were not from the neighborhood. Was it because of his race or his policies? No one knows for sure.

I don’t much about the central or western part of the state, but just from my observations here, I think that McCain has more than a fifty percent chance of winning PA.

  325. McCain will win as the USA is a racist country. Am I correct? I hope not! I want people to vote for experience and stability:
ou couldn’t get a job at McDonalds and become district manager after
    143 days of experience.

You couldn’t become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of
    being a surgeon.

You couldn’t get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143
    days of experience.

You couldn’t join the military and become a colonel after a 143 days of experience.

You couldn’t get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor
    after 143 days of experience.

BUT…. ‘From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State
Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate.
That’s how many days the Senate was actually in session and working.
After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World … 143 days We all have to start somewhere. The senate is a good start, but after 143 days, that’s all it is – a start AND, strangely, a large sector of the American public is okay with this and campaigning for him. We wouldn’t accept this in our own line of work, yet some are okay with this for the President of the United States of America? Come on folks, we are not voting for the next American Idol! Please, please forward this before it’s too late!!!!
