    • The Cruelty and Stupidity Of Trumpian Homelessness Rhetoric
From a study by his officials: In the report, “The State of Homelessness in America,” even shelters get some of the blame for increasing the number of people who are homeless. The argument: Some people would be able to find their own housing if they were turned away from shelters. “While shelters play an extremely important role […]

Partisans, Demons and Right-Wing Tropes

The Confluence has been accused of heresy by other bloggers in recent weeks.  According to these purity trolls we “took up right wing talking points” which not only discredited our writers but also our commenters, our families, friends, former babysitters and the entire PUMA coalition.  Our accusers felt free to question our liberal credentials and suggest that we were really racist Republicans.

I’m not going to name names or provide links because these accusations are bullshit.  But these false allegations demonstrate a major problem in Left Blogistan.  That problem is the partisanship trap.  Left/right ideology has been subsumed into the competition between Democrats and Republicans and both sides have demonized the other to the point that rational discussion has become virtually impossible.

Once upon a time both parties had liberal and conservative wings.  Then, beginning in the sixties and continuing through the Reagan years, the GOP became identified with conservative ideology and the Democrats became the party of liberals and progressives.  Today, “liberal Republican” is a virtual oxymoron and although there are conservative Democrats they are a minority within the party.

As documented by John Dean in “Conservatives Without Conscience,” the demonization of liberals began in the years follwing World War II and became ascendant during the “Reagan Revolution” of the eighties.  Republican conservatism suffered a setback with the election of Bill Clinton but came back strong in 1994 with Newt Gingrich and the “Contract on America.”  Hubris and the ill-advised impeachment effort ended Gingrich’s reign, but the conservative movement came back once again to reach it’s peak under George W. Bush when it acheived political hegemony.

From Reagan’s rise through Bush’s fall the conservative movement repeatedly demonized liberals as unpatriotic, corrupt and stupid.  They were so successful at defaming liberals that the term “liberal” became a dirty word in American politics and many left-of-center politicians and writers began calling themselves “progressives” instead.  But among conservatives and their media lapdogs, “liberal” and “Democrat” became synonymous.

But during these dark years the “progressive” Democrats began to demonize their opponents as well.  In progressive ideology the term “conservative” became synonymous with “Republican” and both terms referred to a stereotype of a person who is racist, sexist, greedy, jingoistic and pro-war.  Conservative leaders are caricatured as evil while the GOP rank and file is seen as stupid and bigoted.

If you go to almost any site in Left Blogistan you will see posts on every conceivable issue that argue from the premise that there is no principled and informed rationale for supporting any Republican policy, proposal or candidate.  If you agree with or support anything that originates from the right you must be stupid, immoral or both.  Republican candidates are not only assumed to be lying they are also presumed to have nefarious motives for seeking office along with everything else they say and do.

I’m not here to justify Republicans or their ideology.  I’m here to criticize the mutual demonization and the partisanship trap.  Why is this a bad thing?  First of all it’s intellectually lazy.  One purpose of demonization is to rob your opponent of legitimacy.  If you declare that your opponent is a racist you don’t have to debate the merits of his argument because everything he says is invalid ab initio.

Secondly, it makes rational discourse difficult if not impossible.  PUMAs know that being accused of racism is not a persuasive argument and tends to inhibit further discussion.  Increasing the frequency of the accusation or the volume of your voice doesn’t help either.  Now this does not mean that we can’t condemn racism, sexism and other societal ills when we see them, but we should do so cogently and without presuming to know what is in the hearts and minds of our opponents.

The situation we have now allows any connection, however tenuous, to the Republican party or a conservative thinker to permit the declaration that the argument is a “right-wing trope” and therefore illegitimate.  It also permits the demonization of total strangers, individually and in groups.  It isn’t much of a step from arguing your opponent is a racist to arguing your opponent’s argument should be prohibited, and then a little further to using extra-legal means to stop him.  It’s a slippery slope, but since you have the moral high ground if shouting him down doesn’t work, then try beating him down.

Into this morass of partisanship steps Teh Precious.  Some of the brightest minds in Left Blogistan, fully aware of the sexism, misogyny and false accusations of racism, as well as the caucus fraud and other electoral misconduct, nonetheless argue that we must support Obama because he is a Democrat.  Others, even though they refuse to support Obama, declare that we must not vote for John McCain because he is a Republican and is therefore worse than Teh Precious.

The mere fact that he is a Democrat has allowed Obama to break his pledge on public financing, reverse himself and vote for the FISA bill, appoint a Vice Presidential nominee that voted for the AUMF and speak approvingly of Ronald Reagan.  The joy which greeted yesterday’s endorsement of Obama by a man who less than a year ago was persona non grata among Democrats demonstrates that partisanship trumps ideology among Obama supporters.

The demonization of political opponents also allows Obamanation to rationalize violent imagery and dehumanization.  Even some alleged feminists who support Barack Obama have either participated in or turned a blind eye towards the misogynistic treatment of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin.

The PUMA motto is “principle before party.”  That motto is the key to escaping the partisanship trap.  Adherence to liberal principles must be a precondition to our support for Democratic candidates and the Democratic party.  No longer is it good enough that they are “better than the Republicans.”  Furthermore, let us use facts and cogent argument to win debates rather than allegation and innuendo.

  1. Good evening. In less than two weeks, PUMAS from here will join others from around the country. And you will be launching the largest grassroots battle in the 21st Century to defend the American Dream and all that makes America the greatest country in the history of mankind.

Mankind — that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

Whether we are PUMAS, Independents, or just regular Democrats and Republicans, we can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore.

We will be united in our common interests.

    NOBAMA!

Perhaps its fate that today is 2 weeks until Election Day, and like our fellow Patriots so many years ago, you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution from England — but from a man and agenda that seeks to make socialism in America the national pastime.

We’re fighting for the American Dream to live on, to exist.
And should we win the day, the 4th of November will no longer be known as Election Day, but as the day when PUMAS from all across America declared in one mighty deafening roar:

We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!

    We’re going to keep going!

    We’re going to live on!

    We’re going to achieve victory!

    We’re going to survive!”

Viva la Puma! Viva Liberty! Viva America!

  2. PUMAS are Patriots!

    We must hold the line!
    We must push forward!!
    No retreat!!!!
We must achieve victory on election day!!!

Like the brave Patriots that fought the Redcoats over 200 years ago to win Independence from England, we PUMAS are fighting a very powerful force that must be defeated.

    Do not be discouraged.

    Do not give up.

    We own our votes!

They are ours and ours alone!

Obama does not own our votes!

Stand up for what you know is right!

As Hillary told us, keep going! Keep going! Keep going!

    Viva la Puma!!

    Viva Liberty!

    Country First!!

    Principle Before Party!

    Onward to VICTORY in November!

    McCain-Palin ’08
    Hillary ’12

    NOBAMA!

  3. great post myiq — you summed it up why I am a PUMA beautifully.
and how was I getting “radical again” in the last thread? 🙂

  4. The “left” has become everything they hated. It’s just a mirror image of the bushbots. Everything the “precious” does is fine. There are no issues worth fighting for. There is no ideology. I’s only about electing the “The One” and nothing else.

This is why I don’t see a possible Obama presidency as a success. I see it as an ulitmate failure much like Bush’s. And I think that the Democratic Party will be in the same shape the GOP is in within a few years with Obama at the helm.

  5. Ga6th — some one here said earlier today that BO is GWB with an “O” instead of a “W.” So true.

  6. Kick Colmes off the show and replace him with Joe the Plumber.

  7. (See Diana Mutz’s fantastic book Hearing the Other Side for the details on our country’s love of political conformity.) Educated people are particularly skilled at avoiding contrary opinions, according to Mutz, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. She writes that Americans with less than a high-school diploma have the greatest diversity in political discussion mates. Those with the most narrow political lives are Americans who have suffered through graduate school.

    I go to slate.com so you don’t have to….:-)

  8. Angie:

    You’re just a wild women

  9. Just one woman myiq — but I’m sure I’d be enough for you. 😉

  10. afrocity:

    What are Alan Colmes credentials?

How did he get picked to represent liberals on that show?

  11. This is going to sound cruel, but it appears that Obama’s grandmother may be close to the end. It would not surprise me to see them “milk” this event to his advantage by showing him in a mournful light.

I hope I am wrong in this assessment but I would put nothing past his handlers to take advantage of his “sorrow” just short of two weeks to election. If so, I promise to do penance for saying and thinking the worst of this man.

  12. With kidneys to die for

  13. yeah the grandmother we’ve never heard from or seen…..
    hmmm interesting timing indeed.

  14. Oops, sorry, that was supposed to read thus:

Educated people are particularly skilled at avoiding contrary opinions, according to Mutz, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. Basically, by abusing the other side and refusing to listen, we’ve made ourselves more and more insular
If there’s ONE lesson every Hillary Clinton Democrat has learnt this year, it is that the best-est Democrats, the staunchest liberals can be misled and will help mislead in turn. No point calling out an idea as a ‘right wing talking point’ if you can’t prove/disprove your allegation.

  15. myiq: Great post! You have completely made the case as to why we are who we are here and though others may not wish to recognize or take us seriously, we know what we stand for. Country before party is a good thing as Martha Stewart would attest.

  16. Good post.

It’s kind of ironic, former Republicans like Aravosis, Dkos, HuffPoo, etc are all in the tank for Obama. Colin Powell, Judy Miller, and WAPO, have endorsed him, too. So my party is now full of former Bushbots, neocons, and whackadoos, but I’m allegedly the Republican using right wing talking points??

Does it not seem peculiar that all these Bush supporters think Obama is jusy dreamy? Like maybe this is a pattern and they’re attracted to unqualified buffoons??

You know, if all the complete wingnuts go over to Obama’s side, it would be kind of like cleaning out the Republican party. I just might be tempted to move in.

  17. Excellent post. I have read “Conservatives Without Conscience” and I must say I never dreamed that we’d be seeing left-wing authoritarian types in this election. Although I do remember from my distant childhood the days of liberal Republicans, for years I have believed that the D’s were the guys and gals with the white hats.

Well, no more. This election has opened my eyes. To paraphrase the Messiah himself, there are good ideas to be found on both sides of the aisle. I’m post-partisan now, baby!

Which is why I’ll be voting McCain/Palin on Nov. 4.

  18. What was brought home so starkly to me this election was how I too had demonized the other side to such a degree that I hardly took anything they said at face value.

There are many in that party who protest the leadership they find themselves under just as we despise the current leadership who holds reign over us.

It pays to listen and assess before jumping in and declaring any and all opposition as idiots. We have been the brunt of too much of that ourselves.

Every once in awhile a good kick in the pants is needed to shock us out of complacency. Complacency is what got us to where we are today. Not a good thing.

  19. Pat:

I blame conservatives for creating the situation, but right now Obama is the one taking advantage of it.

Look at shows like Hannity and Colmes. They don’t debate issues, they just set up shouting matches and ambush inteviews.

  20. Nancy Giles just said on CNN that it was a bit painful for her to see Palin pump her hands up in the air on the SNL skit.

  21. Pat Johnson,
Well he should get the full Palin treatment then. He should quit campaigning due to his grief. It would be disrespectful of his grandmother’s memory to remain on the campaign trail wouldn’t it? He should quit campaigning for the rest of the cycle and spend time with his family who would be grieving the loss of his grandmother.

  22. Yeah BABY!!!

Captain Spaulding is KICKING AZZ and takin’ names!

    FUCK, FUCK, FUCK THEM.

(As per MYIQ, it’s good to have a good fuck, and I just had 3!)

Democratic and Liberal Principles is what we follow – Principle before Party (God Bless Heidi Li for that name!)

  23. If you have not read Bob Altemeyer’s “The Authoritarians” (which forms the basis of Dean’s book) then you should do so.

It is available for free online and will really open your eyes. It’s interesting and easy to read.

    http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~altemey/

  24. Kick Colmes off the show and replace him with Joe the Plumber.

I second that. Joe has a very calm, authentic presence.

I missed the Biden gaffe part–what did they say? Bolton commented on it, but I missed that too. Someone fill me in please if you saw it.

  25. I am so far beyond worrying about what anyone calls me or thinks of me anymore
. I am far more concerned about the lack of limits displayed by people I used consider rational , even some I used to admire . It is like watching a mob form and watching the mob psychology take over what used to be rational people . I am even more concerned about what might happen if the mob and mob mentality takes over .
My personal hope of being delivered from the shrub mentality was certainly not to usher in one far worse . I am still holding out hope that will not happen .

  26. sm77:

Even a bad one is better than none

  27. Yet another friend sent me a “Palin is really really dangerous” today, complete with all the debunked smears. I don’t even care anymore. I sent back a very strong, succinct rebuttal that I’m sure will stun her.

Do.not.care. If you are going to push that crap at me, you better expect a factual and fierce blast back. If that affects friendships, then so be it.

    Principles before All.

  28. According to new FOX polls, McCain has taken a slight lead in FL & OH. Still behind in MO & CO. Joe the Plumber is having an impact.

    Does anyone know any electricians?

  29. …or what Im eant to say that she was ‘hurt’ by it.

  30. My solution: throw ALL the bums out! Start fresh with an infusion of new ideas and with people of integrity. No matter who wins next month, the same worn out cast of background players will once again be before the mics “throwing down” as usual. There is not one of them I would trust to park my car.

As for the talking heads, the only one I bother with now is Lou Dobbs, my new BFF. At least he isn’t partisan to the point of insanity when it comes to Obama. The rest are time fillers, people who love nothing more than the sound of their own useless voices. Couple that with the congress and you have grand opera. Screeching, drama, overacting, and all to no avail.

  31. fif you speak my mind … if someone pushes mindless crap at me , they will get a piece of my mind , because I am still using mine 😉
I think some of these so called democrats have political alzheimers.

  32. Nancy Giles just said on CNN that it was a bit painful for her to see Palin pump her hands up in the air on the SNL skit.

These are the healers and uniters right? Attacking her for having fun. Nice.

  33. Joe the Plumber is kind of cute, cueball head and all.

  34. myiq — Oui mon cherie. Mon rein, ils sont superbe.

  35. fif:

I thing John McCain and Sarah Palin are both patriotic Americans who want the best for this country.

That doesn’t mean I agree with them on every issue.

I think Joe Biden is basically a decent guy too.

But Obama is a different case. I don’t think he cares about anything or anybody except himself.

  36. fif: she actually said as a black woman she was ‘hurt’ by it.

  37. angienc: Put a cork in it!

  38. I don’t know what Angie just said but I’m blushing

  39. And where was this Nancy Giles when The One flicked Hillary off his shoulder? Was she hurt by that too? What morons!!

  40. Sarah on SNL they clearly underestimate her by fathoms .. who was making fun of WHOM ?? lol

  41. fif you speak my mind

I think there is such a thing as “PUMA mind.” We’re all in the same zone, like Jung’s collective unconscious. What else could explain that we see things so clearly the same way while so many others are under this bizarre hypnotic spell? We seem to be immune to it, and the illusion of it is so obvious. We often make the same jokes, notice the same details, make the same historical references, and feel the same pains and joys. It’s a phenomenon, and damn good company.

  42. Country, Principals, Integrity before any false profit called the Democratic Party.

It’s dead, we are just waiting to bury it. It needs to be soon as it stinks to high heaven.

BTW, BO is rushing back to Hawaii because the “typical white” grandmother is ill. I’m ill also.

Do you think it could be about those 2 pending lawsuits against him he has failed to answer ❓

    CAROL HAKA 👿

  43. PJ:

    Bald guys give more head

  44. myiq: Repeat: put a cork in it!

  45. Breaking News on Obama.

He’s flying back to Hawaii tonight.

Hmmm…the campaign claims it is because of his grandmother being ill. She was, however, released from the hospital last week and is not in the hospital now.

What else could be going on in Hawaii?

    Found it…

Honolulu News Conference: Monday October 20, 2008
Emergency Petition in Hawaii Supreme Court seeks to expedite release of Barack Obama’s family records

Supreme Court filing supplements and expands on Circuit Court lawsuit

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

OBAMA HAWAII INVESTIGATION MOVES INTO HIGHER GEAR WITH EMERGENCY HAWAII SUPREME COURT PETITION SEEKING TO EXPEDITE RELEASE OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND RELATED RECORDS

(HONOLULU, HI)(October 20, 2008) The leader of the national anti-Obama movement, legendary Chicago Internet columnist and Obama author Andy Martin, will hold a Honolulu news conference today, October 20, 2008 to announce he has asked the Hawaii Supreme Court to entertain an emergency writ expediting the release of Senator Barack Obama’s secret birth records.

    Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Obama is trying to keep the truth from coming out about his past!

And just today, Obama’s lawyers filed yet another motion seeking to delay the Federal lawsuit (Berg v. Obama) in PA that is seeking to force Obama to prove that he is a natural born US Citizen eligible to run for and be elected President.

Why is Obama seeking more delays? He has something to hide!

  46. Carol: How was your weekend with Ryan?

  47. well I’m sorry to hear that one’s typical white grandmother is ill; unfortunately I’ve been so thoroughly disgusted by his antics that I wouldn’t put it past him to exploit it for electoral advantage.

  48. Did the reporter that wrote the piece on Cindy pretend to be someone else to get the goods?????????/

If so, they broke the law. Someone should be prosecuting.

    Palin’s email hacked, Cindy’s children compromised …………………

  49. The grandmother could be on hospice. She is 86 yrs of age. Hospice usually means that the end is near and they send you home to die in peace, surrounded by family and friends.

  50. Okay, I am popping in and out and myiq2xu and Angienc, do I need to leave the room?? 😉

  51. Pat J! I didn’t say anything bad — I said: “yes my dear, my kidneys, they are superb” it only sounded sexy because it was in French!

  52. I am not a fan of SNL myself anyways. Palin did fine but the SNL skits are lame someone is bound to be offended.

Now Larry King is complaining that McCain did not rebook a show with him. Sounds like Letterman.

  53. Great post! The next few years should be interesting. On these blogs, you advocate (and I support) principle before party (which is how I’ve been). Read the Ron Paul blogs, and you will see the same message. Ross Perot caused many Republicans to “defect,” and deservedly so. Jimmy Carter caused many Democrats to jump ship as well.

This year, however, both parties have major voting blocks who are tired of politics as usual, regardless of party. My local Ron Paul group is a little too pro-life and anti-gay for me to join ranks with them, and my local Democrat party only talks about how raising taxes across the board is a good thing, without explaining where the money will go. Libertarian Party, forget it.

I have nowhere to go. I find solace here because of the respect all of you show each other, and you don’t say who you must vote for. I’m just so tired of being told I can’t vote for so and so based on party, even though they may be the better candidate. Thank goodness for secret ballots.

  54. afrocity”

Naw, but RD should install some private rooms in this place.

  55. SOD: LOL ! Read MYIQ’s reply, even a bad one is better than none!

  56. Ryan’s coming home on Friday thru Monday for his High School Reunion. Jessica is in town, she didn’t actually graduate with them because she left for LA, but she will probably be attending.

I went to Orlando for work.

Exhausted. The doctor did not order my xanax – I will get it tomorrow.

I can hardly wait for Ryan and the xanax.

  57. fif: she actually said as a black woman she was ‘hurt’ by it.

Nancy Giles is a comedy writer and it is SNL! Boo-friggin-hoo. Was she “hurt” by the disgusting Palin t-shirts or the horrible and relentless attacks on anything and everything Pain related? I didn’t think so. These people are really too much.

  58. FIF how did you know I was jungian ?? I was thinking exactly the same thing about how so many people can see thru the veil so to speak , while so many others are still knuckle dragging ( inmsho ) ..
email me @ swannie2cygnusradio.com if you want and we can get psycho 🙂

  59. myiq2xu,

Hmmm I heard that Nancy Pelosi was using pictures of Joe the Plumber for masturbation material…until they were stolen from her desk by Barney Frank.

  60. Obot spouse got a mailing-tube package from Obama campaign. Is he setting up an altar? Maybe I should bring him a live chicken to sacrifice at it. Yeesh.

  61. angienc: Lou Dobbs is mine just for the record. The last time I “shared” he disappeared into the wilds of Texas. myiq and that “thing” are all yours. I doubt anyone else would “fight” you over them.

  62. Cindy McCain is going to be on Greta tonight. That trash article on her in the NYT — after months of BO declaring that MO is “off limits” — shows just how desperate they are in the BO camp. The polls are full of it — and that article is proof. They dig up an old prescription pain killer addiction on the woman and don’t mention all the millions she has has given to charity (not to mention all the time she has given to same). FUCK THEM.

  63. Make sure BO pays for his flight to grannies. It isn’t part of the campaign.

  64. Well, I finally turned the channel. Why do I even try to watch big media.

  65. Carol: Tree decorating this weekend???

  66. Pat J — LMAO!!! Ok, I will give you Lou Dobbs — see how sweet I am? Myiq is all I need any way.

  67. swanspirit: I actually didn’t know you were Jungian, but there ya go! It proves my point. I’ve studied Jung too, and a lot of eastern influenced psychology. This whole election cycle is the epitome of the term “maya,” that you must know. Complete illusion and distortion. People are so lost in the “haka,” that is being expertly spun for them, and they are convinced that it is reality. We are the ones that are awake.

I’m tired right now for a concentrated discussion, but I will keep your email, and we can talk about it more 🙂

  68. Carol, I love Xanax. It is my best friend. Love my .25 mg!!!!!

  69. PAT: So Granma Bamma is sick RIGHT WHEN a lawsuit hits him in Hawaii about his records????

Somethin’ in the milk ain’t clean.

I truly hope his grandmother is well and that this is just a ruse for something else.

I feel so bad for her, having such an ungrateful and self-loathing grandson. To give your life and years to a child is no walk in the park and for his grammy to raise him is something to admire. It reminds me of “Imitation of Life” except in reverse.

  70. angienc: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  71. afrocity — Gross! But probably true!

afrocity, on October 20th, 2008 at 9:49 pm Said:

    myiq2xu,

Hmmm I heard that Nancy Pelosi was using pictures of Joe the Plumber for masturbation material…until they were stolen from her desk by Barney Frank.

  72. Angie obviously agrees that bad is better than none

  73. afrocity: did you bring enough to share with the class?

  74. Eddy and Lou are two great big teddy bears. Capt Spaulding is straight from hell. But to each his own.

  75. cbn — dancing is now r@cist too. I guess it isn’t just word we have to watch out for.

  76. SM: The poor old lady. He is such an ingrate but he will use this to his advantage, wait and see.

  77. Pat: Carol doesn’t decorate Christmas trees, she just dusts them off. LOL!

(BTW, I left my little 4 ft one up until late February!)

  78. Little Isis is done with her shower!!!

Well said in this post myiq2xu, my sentiments exactly.

We have learned a lot, all of us.

  79. myiq — I’ll make you good.

  80. For those who might be interested, the guys at Hillbuzz respond to all false allegations of r@cism with gratuitous pictures of hot (partially dressed) guys

  81. Pat, that was my first thought too. Obama has shown no hesitation and no shame in using the women in his life to advance his me-me-me agenda. He already insulted his grandmother by calling her a r@cist in front of the nation. I doubt he’ll think twice before using her again. It’s not you who needs to do penance. It’s Obama.

  82. Dickie Morris just said that if the financial crisis had not hit, McCain would be winning this election (which I agree with). Now, this new message re: taxes has taken hold, and if the market continues to remain relatively stable, with BO’s lead eroding, “McCain has a serious chance of winning this election.”

Meanwhile, Obama is planning a huge victory party and Nancy Pelosi says it’s 100% assured. This “batch” of Dems is so distasteful.

  83. Angie:

    And I’ll make you bad

  84. ugsome,

I am protective of my stash of Xanax and ambien…How do you think I make it through lunches with the Obots.? A little piece of me dies everytime I hear them ridicule Palin or Hillary. The worse is when they refer to obama as “my guy”.

I am so laughing at Hannity bringing up Obama’s cocaine usage.

  85. MYIQ – really?

I love that other HAKA video with the hot Maori guys in these loinclothy things and beating their bare chests and….

hey wait a minute, I’m sounding like Regency!

  86. OMG: “Barack Obama seems to endorse BOTH World Series Teams” at bottom of FOX screen.

Now, doesn’t that just SAY IT ALL???? This is our fearless leader. He votes “present” on the World Series.

  87. afrocity — btw, I’m a .25 ml. gal myself.

FUCK THEM.

Goddess, the NYT disgusts me to no end. They make me ill.
Do you know which NYT reporter is the most disgusting?

    MODO!!!!

She is the biggest fool I have ever had the displeasure of being exposed to. I cannot STAND her.

I have this pipe dream that I am going to have a talk show one day. A talk show way funnier that Colbert and Stewart, and while I am still young, so people can’t accuse me of being ugly or old.

My ratings will soar past that of Comedy Central’s sexist pigs. My show will be independent politically and it will bash the media on a regular basis.

Modo will be one of my prime targets, and I will paint myself as a pioneer for women and feminism by being to first lady to have a parody talk show.

  89. Here is a problem I am having with logic and thinking …
and it MUST BE ME right??

the NYT does a piece on Cindy McCains drug addiction from pain medication history. she is not running for office .
Bo is running for the highest office and no research digging or any reporting at all is done on his drug use history ..because we all know that drug use/ addiction just resolves itself , there is never any recurrence or relapse , or substitute of one addicting behavior for another , or substituting one substance for another … no research reporting investigation of any kind that I have heard by any major news organisation on the extent of his drug use , nor to my knowledge is anyone asking or requesting this investigation.
it is me I know it … it has to be me ..

  90. Is Obama flying back to Hawaii tonight or later in the week? I’ve been reading conflicting comments on various sites tonight. What’s the latest scoop on when Obama is flying to Hawaii?

  91. myiq — that’s what I’m counting on.

  92. SM,

What is this about a lawsuit? I can’t keep up with everything these days. Why oh why do I have to work?

  93. myiq

post is right. and it spills over into everything…

you’re gonna make angie bad, and she wants to make you good…

can’t we all just get along??? 🙂

  94. For those who might be interested, the guys at Hillbuzz respond to all false allegations of r@cism with gratuitous pictures of hot (partially dressed) guys

    LOL! Hillbuzz has got spunk.

  95. PAT: It breaks my heart to know that she worked so hard, her crazy ass daughter dumps a kid at granma’s while she doing whatever the hell she wants. And then that kid resents her because she raised him and not his mother. What a psychological Oedipal mess.

And WHY specifically on Thursday and Friday? If it’s an emergency, wouldn’t you fly out today?

  96. fif, on October 20th, 2008 at 9:58 pm Said:
Dickie Morris just said that if the financial crisis had not hit, McCain would be winning this election (which I agree with). Now, this new message re: taxes has taken hold, and if the market continues to remain relatively stable, with BO’s lead eroding, “McCain has a serious chance of winning this election.”
Meanwhile, Obama is planning a huge victory party and Nancy Pelosi says it’s 100% assured. This “batch” of Dems is so distasteful.

I cannot wait to see how they react when Obambi loses.

  97. Iron Man — the tv just said he is doing one stop tomorrow (IN I think) & then flying straight to HI to be with this grandmother. Bless his heart, he didn’t bother to go to his mother’s bedside when she was dying, but he is taking the time from his busy campaign to see his grandmother.

  98. elderj,

I thought the same thing. Though it seems that none of Obama’s relatives seem to “make it’ long enough to see him succeed. His DNA trail is fading.

  99. Nancy doesn’t know what 100% means. Nor, apparently, has she heard the expression “men make plans & God laughs”

  100. For some inexplicable reason my husband was watching that a$$ Bill Maher tonight. He and his band of left wing idiots were going on and on about McCain’s negative campaign tactics. What a load of sh!t. But I suppose BM (appropriate initials!) doesn’t think calling a female candidate a c*nt is “negative.” And attacking Cindy McCain is “positive.” Whatever. I’m so sick of these jerk offs that I may end up taking out the television set.

  101. swan: Hannity just brought it up, and Bob Beckel immediately said “these issues are off bounds.” At least Hannity got it in. They didn’t mention ANY of Cindy’s charitable work, her role as CEO of the family business, or her healthy, happy family. There is no reason to any of this–it is blatant, nasty bias pretending to be journalism. The NY Times has degraded itself beyond measure.

Who, by the way, is nowhere to be found and does not seem to be at all concerned with her grandson’s run for the presidency.
Where are all the people in his life and childhood friends campaigning for him, like with Hillary?

  103. Hitler said somewhere that they sky was blue.

Maybe we should stop making the same observation, for fear of being accused of sympathizing and agreeing with the most notorious murder in history.

so the sky is green. See how simple it is?

  104. BB: Scroll up and you’ll se it on this thread – another person suing Obama but this time in Hawaii for his birth records.

  105. Angienc,

After this election I may have to go back up to the “peachies”
    0.5 mg

    😉

  106. I have to remove the Christmas Tree in his room and get the Halloween Tree up. It’s tiny, so it won’t take long. I did clean all day yesterday, still 3.5 days to finish the house.

  107. sm77, Stanley Ann Dunham was different but I don’t know that any of us have sufficient information to call her crazy. BO’s issues, at his age, are his responsibility, anyway.

Sorry, but speaking as a “crazy” rule-breaking mom of a perfectly nice son my hackles raise a bit when I read that stuff.

  108. Carol – you have a X-mas tree in every room in your house???

LOL!!! One of the many reasons why I luv ya.

  109. You don’t go far enough back (but it’s a good start). Other-Party demonizing goes back to the beginning of the history of parties in our country. I realize it’s tempting to want to lay blame by using the starting point you have, but it’s erroneous, and is of the same trap you so astutely observe. Truth is, both sides, liberal and conservative, regardless of party, have pushed and pushed and pushed each other until they are both a warped and corrupted version of what they are supposed to be. They have done this because they mistakenly believe their solutions must be implemented, like, yesterday. The sense of urgency is what leads to the bad behavior, and the corruption underlying it.

  110. To be fair — as much as we rag on MO’s clothes (and with good reason) I really think Cindy should ease up on that black eyeliner — she is a little too old to do the under the eye line like that.

  111. Cindy on FOX says she has been “stunned by the viciousness of the media during this election, even more than in 2000.” She hasn’t read the Times piece and doesn’t plan to. “It’s politics today, unfortunately. It is the nature of the beast. We are doing the best we can. We are proud to be here and be part of this process. I don’t care what the NY Times says.”

Greta: “Why do you do this?”

Cindy: “We volunteered for this. I am so proud of my husband. The more he does this, the more people see in him what I have seen during our entire married life. He has given his entire adult life to service, and I am proud of that…he was sworn into the Navy at 17, and from that day forward, he has always put his country first. He is such a deep person in terms of how he makes his decisions, because he has the experience to back it up (eg: surge). He has deep-rooted experience.”

  112. Update: Obama’s campaign events in Madison, Wisconsin, and Des Moines, Iowa, have been canceled.

  113. ugsome – I read that she left Obama to study, then basically never came back for him.

  114. 1 downstairs, 1 upstairs and Ryan has his 3.5 foot that has all of his ornaments from day 1 – I got him a special one each year and some that he made in school.

did, you know, they’re planning a huge election night party to counteract BO’s?

  116. Not to be insensitive, and it is just another twist of fate, but I can just see the women’s vote being empathetic to his grandmother’s situation.

  117. Thanks for the update AngieNC,

You know what elese, when Barry visited his grandmother earlier this year for ONE HOUR, he didn’t even take MO or the kids to visit his grandmother.

    Strange.

  118. It’s a good thing for Angie that Cindy “Beer Heiress” McCain is married.

There’s just something about a woman with a really big beer distributorship that is irresistable

  119. aw — they (Cindy & John) sound so in love!

  120. angie: I thought the same thing. Overly made up. A good friend of mine lives in Scottsdale, AZ, and she said Cindy McCain is “pure Scottsdale.” Perfectly quaffed, made up, designer clothes etc. Of course, she also wears jeans and goes camping in the Sudan, so she is hardly typical, but stylistically, it’s part of the culture there.

  121. myiq — I thank my lucky starts every night that McCain snapped her up.

  122. Angienc,

I too thought her make up is a bit severe. But she is probably tired and fighting bags. I know she wants this to be over. But she is Human.Like that line she used to describe the debate.
“the longest 90 minutes of my life”

Instead Michelle Obama just seems like an Obot. When Larry King was asking Michelle about Obama.. “Oh I always concentrate on Barack and his message”. I also HATE the way Michelle says “Barack” it is so weird.

  123. Carol – you are X-mas Woman – I love the tree with your son’s ornaments – that must so cute!

  124. fif,

And Senator Government’s 30 minute infomercial will also delay the start of the World Series game.

Obama’s idea of the national pastime is socialism, not baseball.

  125. Can someone please stamp out that nasty bug at 10:11. He/she even soiled my name in the post. Obviously, it was a bit over Bot mentality level, so he/she didn’t get it. No surprise there. Be gone Bot.

  126. bedbug – For the record, when my family or friends fall ill or in the hospital, I leave immediately to comfort them and take care of them. Obama has a real dislike for women as evidenced by his blatant misogyny, so what’s the big deal about the old granny dying.

  127. SOD: LOL!!! bedbug isn’t gonna like that!

  128. can some one clean up bedbugs’s mess?

  129. “The PUMA motto is ‘principle before party.’ That motto is the key to escaping the partisanship trap. Adherence to liberal principles must be a precondition to our support for Democratic candidates and the Democratic party.”

You had me with you right up to that point, myiq2xu, in your spot on essay. My belief, however, is that adherence to the principles and processes of democracy on which this nation was founded (e.g. those contained in the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights) must be our first precondition to supporting any candidate, regardless of party. In my humble opinion, after establishing whether a candidate upholds the principles and processes of democracy, perhaps we need to dispense with most labels altogether and start fresh. Perhaps we can continue to use “liberal” and “conservative” in some way to achieve meaningful discourse. But, in actuality, some practical combination of ‘social safety net’ and ‘social progressivism’ together with the traditional ‘fiscal conservatism,’ ‘individual responsibility,’ ‘rugged individualism’ and ‘entrepreneurship’ would seem more advantageous in working toward realistic solutions to our nation’s many complex problems. Perhaps the old labels simply have outworn their usefulness in today’s real world, where most of us everyday working people find ourselves struggling and trying to make sense somewhere in the middle of all this.

  130. And Senator Government’s 30 minute infomercial will also delay the start of the World Series game.

Maybe they can get all the fans to do one of those human murals, flipping over graphically designed cards to form a huge illustration of Dear Leader’s face, like they do in North Korea.

  131. Meh, most of left blogistan is r@cist. Yep, you heard me right — they’re r@cist. Their little game of r@ce as a plaything, as a simple little thing, something they picked up when it served them and that they’ll drop when they’re bored… that’s treating r@cism like it’s a trivial toy.

If they cared, they’d be addressing substantive issues, and they’d be pushing BO to address it substantively. But they just don’t give a damn. Their votes are simply a brand to display, to proclaim their lifestyle and assure the world they’re not like those unfashionable peasants in flyover country.

  132. BedBug – We wish Obama’s grandmother the best of health so he can go off to continue lying to the American public.

Butr seriously – we wish that Grammy Durham is ok. We just find it weird that if it’s an emergency- why is he leaving Thursday?

    Is it that lawsuit maybe?

  133. It looks like angiec and myiq2xu need to get a room!

  134. sod — LOL — I love it!!!

CIRCUIT COURT OF THE FIRST CIRCUIT
    STATE OF HAWAII

    CIVIL NUMBER: 08-1-2147-10 BIA

    EMERGENCY MOTION
    FOR ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE

    ANDY MARTIN,

    Plaintiff,

    vs.

    LINDA LINGLE, in her
    Official capacity as Governor
    Of the State of Hawai’i,
    DR. CHIYOME FUKINO, in her
    official capacity as Director
    of the Department of Health,

    Defendants.

EMERGENCY MOTION FOR ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE

Plaintiff ANDY MARTIN (“Plaintiff”), pro se, respectfully moves this Court on an emergency basis for an Order to Show Cause (“OSC”) directing the defendants to show cause on or before October 22, 2008 at a hearing before this Court why the relief requested by the Plaintiff should not be granted.
    1. This lawsuit does not involve complicated or disputed facts.
    2. Time is of the essence because Plaintiff would like to write columns and articles about the Birth Certificate before November 3, 2008.
    3. Plaintiff is physically present in Hawai’i and is available to appear before the Court in person at any hearing on or before October 22, 2008.
    4. There is intense national interest in access to an officially certified copy of the birth certificate in question as well as any related supporting information which the defendants may have in their possession.
    5. A proposed OSC is attached to this Emergency Motion.

    Dated: Honolulu, Hawai’i, October 17, 2008

  143. Hell bedbug, if you think we are being mean to your messiah in this thread, just wait.

  144. BB: ANgieNC was describing her kidneys – In French.

Captain Spauling is drooling as we speak, when can he get an internal organ and in fraaahhh-ch?

  145. Obama’s commercials suck. They seem more like senate race ads.

  146. Bobo is putting ads on some of the most random channels. AMC?

  147. IronMan – Wednesday???? SO he will be in Hawaii then!!!!!!!!

    It’s the lawsuit!

O-bot campaign spinners used the “sick grandma” excuse!

  148. sod — that picture, and those BO prayer cards, creep me out & makes me give thought to the EVs belief that he is the antichrist (and believe me, every EV I know think he is) — I mean, I don’t really think he is, but I’ve had enough Catholic schooling to question it. LOL

  149. alice, I totally agree. The thing that I noticed most about Left Blogostan over the years was how much raci sm and sexism there was, and how little anyone cared about it. People who brought it up were treated about how Obots treat their critics. There were just way too many frat boys who only called themselves Democrats because they perceive Republicans as being lower class or they think they’ll have an easier time getting a job in our party.

  150. And to think I was so thrilled when Nancy P. became Speaker!
Now it seems that Soros funded her PAC so she could knock
off Hillary. She said she’d support the candidate with the most votes,
and then the candidate with the most delegates ( this changed according
to her gift from God’s fortunes).

She gave her husband (from a wealthy S.F. real estate
family $100,000 from her PAC (is this legal)?

And now this, which I copied from an email sent to me:

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s home district includes San
    Francisco.
Star-Kist Tuna’s headquarters are in San Francisco, Pelosi’s home
    district.
Star-Kist is owned by Del Monte Foods and is a major contributor to
    Pelosi.

Star-Kist is the major employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the
    Samoan workforce.

Paul Pelosi, Nancy’s husband, owns $17 million dollars of Star-Kist
    stock.

In January, 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to
$7.25, Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase so Del Monte
would not have to pay the higher wage. This would make Del Monte
products less expensive than their competition’s.

Last week when the huge bailout bill was passed, Pelosi added an earmark
to the final bill adding $33 million dollars for an “economic
    development credit in American Samoa”.

Pelosi has called the Bush Administration “corrupt”.

    She should know.

The Star-Kist matter was big news at the beginning of 2007, and the $33
million earmark was news last week.

  155. One thing about the lawsuit — this guy filed a lawsuit & asked for a hearing — has anyone seen that the court actually granted the order? Because it looks like the guy is asking for a hearing on Wednesday, but until the court grants the order setting a hearing, a hearing hasn’t been set.

  156. PS – I am not claiming that conservatives do not share those principles

  157. As we’ve witnessed time and again, BO has no use for anyone or anything he can’t use to advance his own agenda. (That’s not cynical; that’s fact.) That includes his grandmother in Hawaii. If my grandmother had raised me and were ill, I would leave immediately to visit her, no matter what I was doing. BO won’t be there until Thurs. and Fri. (two whole days from now) and she was released from the hospital last Fri. The fact that BO isn’t leaving immediately would indicate that perhaps the situation isn’t particularly dire. Either (snark) this is a BO ploy to win over more senior citizen votes, or he’s going to obtain a more convincing forged birth certificate to present as physical evidence for the Berg suit. He and the DNC must be worried about knowingly perpetrating a huge fraud (complete with soliciting and receiving more than a half billion dollars in campaign contributions) against America and the American people if Berg can prove that BO doesn’t meet the U.S. Constitution’s citizenship requirement.

  158. angie-
do you suppose BO is going to the court to argue that releasing the true birth records, or not, violates his constitutional right to privacy?

  159. sm77, on October 20th, 2008 at 10:26 pm

Oh, and Michelle is not going to Hawaii.

She also did not visit the grandmother in August when Barry met with his grandmother for one hour.

  165. Angie: If Obambi is flying out like IronMan says to Hawaii tomorrow afternoon, then I can safely speculate that somethin’ in the milk ain’t clean.

  166. New Ras polls for Ohio and Florida are out.

    McCain leading in both.

    Still close though.

    15 days until Election Day.

That is an eternity in presidential elections.

Obama peaked too early and now McCain is rising.

  168. Lou Dobbs is a populist Independent and I’m not sure he liked any of the people running for President. But he came to Hillary’s defense a number of times during the primary, railing against the abuse thrown at her by the media and her own party.

  170. Wag the granny! LOL!

  171. Thanks for clarifying the “principles and processes” issue, miqx2u. Indeed, I believe if all Americans would commit themselves to upholding (and to electing representatives also committed to upholding) those “principles and processes” of democracy on which this nation was founded, we very likely wouldn’t be faced with the current mess we’re in.

  172. kitchen — I can’t imagine why BO would need to go to argue anything — he isn’t that good of any attorney from what I’ve seen of his flimsy resume — he has attorneys who could go for him. UNLESS the judge called up BO & told him to get his skinny a$$ over to HI to talk to him in person in chambers before ruling on the plaintiff’s motion (and, btw, if the court is doing this in chambers then the court must also have the plaintiff and/or his attorney in on that in chambers conversation — the in chambers discussion could always be sealed if there is no “there” there).

  173. ugsome,

I don’t think that being “crazy” and rule breaking affects our children and our sons if they know we love them. As a single mom who has hit some rough times, my kids always knew I loved them so even a layoff did not dampen their spirits. I’ve noticed that the “craziest ” parents (biological and non-biiological) have had some of the nicest children because of the love they’ve given.

After reading Obama’s books and other things he has said I come away with the feeling that he did not really feel loved, but rather abandoned, and resented it.

  174. myiq and angienc

    thanks for keeping things lively!!:)

  175. afrocity — “wag the granny” you are killing me!! LOL. It is a new suit seeking the BC in HI — Iron Man up thread posted the Plaintiff’s suit asking for a hearing on or before Wednesday.

  176. Lou Dobbs is an example of someone we can agree with on one issue but not all issues.

The partisan trap says that you can’t agree with someone on ANYTHING unless you agree with them on EVERTHING

  177. Reading now that Greta is saying Obama is leaving for Hawaii on Thursday? Hmmm…we’ll have to watch and see what happens.

Yet journalists who have followed Obama’s campaign for the better part of two years don’t know what he looks like, staffers who have logged countless hours traveling with Team Obama didn’t even know he works for the campaign and there’s never been a story in a major media outlet about him.

He is Michael Signator, an aide and buddy of the man who — according to polls — stands a better-than-50-50 shot of becoming the next president of the United States of America.

    snip

Though Signator owns a home in suburban DuPage County — about an hour west of the Obamas’ Chicago home — he also rents an apartment on the 16th floor of a high-rise called Regents Park, located just a few blocks from Obama’s house in the leafy Kenwood neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.

When Obama is at home, he works out regularly in the well-appointed gym on the ground floor of the building. But according to “protective pool reports” distributed among journalists following the campaign, Obama may also occasionally stop by the building just to hang out with “Sig,” as some campaign staffers call him.

On a Sunday morning in late June, for instance, a pool report explained that Obama “went for a workout at his friend’s Mike Signator’s building. He wore his black White Sox cap; a gray T-shirt and black workout pants. He only stayed about 15 minutes. Press staff was unsure whether he worked out or just hung with his friend.”

This is kind of interesting. I’ve never heard of this guy before. And the press has never even seen him and don’t know what he looks like??? Obama is a very wierd guy.

    ugsome,
I don’t think that being “crazy” and rule breaking affects our children and our sons if they know we love them.

I think you are right about that, but you’d think it would make him more determined to be better than what he is. Instead of blaming the rest of the world for things other people did to him.

  188. bb — what is up with that mystery man? That story was on aol headlines today — is this going to be a set up for some big scandal ala Larry Sinclair?

    I don’t know. It’s very strange.

  194. May be silly, but hey, we have to fight on all fronts right now. Of course, only vote according to your true beliefs. This was sent to me by Real Dems.

    Sarah Palin–PBS vote

PBS has an online poll posted asking if Sarah Palin is qualified. Apparently it was sent to only Dems, and the BO supporters are flooding the voting with NO votes.

The poll will be reported on PBS and picked up by mainstream media. It can influence undecided voters in swing states.

  196. kitchen — I forgot to answer the gist of your question (I was laughing to hard at the idea of BO arguing anything in court) I don’t know that releasing a b.c. violates anyone’s right to privacy — those of vital records — like a driver’s license or passport — that are generated by the government — it isn’t like medical records, for example, that are protected by HIPPA. In short, I’m not entirely sure about that argument — it really isn’t an area of law that I have enough experience in to be able to give you a definitive answer.

  197. Angie:

Hillbuzz has a story on the mystery man. Uncharacteristically they offer no conclusions.

In deference to RD I won’t speculate

  198. Wellll, CB, the bit about Pelosi and Star-Kist isn’t exactly surprising. Neither is the fact that yours is the first report I’ve heard of this rather, uh, fishy business. Pelosi just plain stinks, unfortunately. So does the timing of Barky’s visit to Hawaii. Sorry if that sounds hardhearted, but everything the Magnificent O does has an angle to it. He’s phonier than Cheez Whiz on a Twinkie.

  199. I just got off the phone with my auntie and I told her I’m not voting for BO.
She is a Dem loyalist and lives in Boston. She will only vote for him because he has the “D” in front of his name. She knows what he did and doesn’t like him, but can’t bring herself out of the partisan loop.
She is very proud of me and my long held principles and I am her favorite niece. I couldn’t bring myself to tell her that I will probably vote for McPalin, so I led her to believe I am voting for McKinney (small chance I will, but still). It would break her heart if I told her.
    Makses me a bit sad…
    😦

Pat! Did you hear that? You’re about to marry well.

I wondered how Dobbs got away with his unconventional approach on CNN. Glenn Beck (though I’m not a fan) just got “relocated” to FOX and won’t appear until after the election.

Sometimes it doesn’t work that way. I know from personal experience that some men never get over the resentment they have from abandoment issues also when the abandonment took the form of the “wealthy parents simply aren’t interested in the kids”, and even when the person in question was well educated (Ph.D.). It’s not an excuse, they simply don’t mature and work through it and so cause many other people pain.

It’s easy to see that many people are dug in, and their minds are not open to new information, so it’s not worth hurting others or fighting to be “right,” or make a point. Especially not loved ones.

Did you see Hannity last night about FRANK MARSHALL DAVIS?
It was very revealing; talking about how when Obama met him through his grandfather he,Davis, became like a “Father-Figure”.
The “Typical White Grandmother Story” was based after she was encountered aggressively by an “AA” male.
Her reaction “seemed” to be “judged” by ALL the men as a ,
    “R*CIST” response (including her hubby).
In my opinion she (the ONLY seemingly stable person in his world); was “You know what ….bus…twice” I can’t say it with her sick / I DO wish her well.
    ***FOR ALL THOSE RESEARCHERS:
PLEASE……PLEASE….. find the Davis link to someone in Chicago & Obama as an adult ie………….Tom Aryers, Allison Davis, Dale Wright etc……..
I believe it was HIM who opened the 1st door that then lead to all the doors to follow; in Obama’s life.

  221. Hannity was pretty good tonight. Joe the plumber was alot more articulate than you would think-the ‘pundits’ make him sound like a lying doofus. Also the Rasmussen has tightened up in FL.—-yeah!!! McCain leading by a couple here. And if he is even tied, I think that means he is ahead-remember the Hillary primaries.

Struck me yesterday that Colin Powell is the ultimate hypocrite to be complaining about over the top ad by McCain against Obama. Funny how Bushes dirty campaigning in SC in 2000 didn’t prevent him from jumping on board.

MO must really resent his “white side” since she could not be bothered to pay even a 15 minute visit to the old woman when they vacationed.

There is NO WAY this woman would help to install DB as Dem Party Chair. She is someone who actually confronted DB with the nasty emails she was sending to HRC supporters. Big surprise–DB didn’t deny them or respond. No, the goal is to choose an “enlightened” Dem woman. When she told me this, that was my first response: since it’s the president’s call (if BO wins), then won’t he just choose one of his Bot programmed women? They are going to do all they can to choose someone “fair and balanced.”

  291. sm77: That may be the case, but at least Dunham went to study, not smoke crack. And lots of non-megalomaniacs have been raised by grandparents. BO could have chosen to work out his issues in therapy instead of on the national political stage.

Laying blame at the mother’s feet is a slippery slope, IMHO.

Point taken – but the absence of both Mom Dunham & Dad Obama did loads of psychodamage- to whic I feel his granfmother has been the victim of his rage for being abandoned and because Grandma & Grandpa Dunham were the only “family” that cared for him & raised him.

If it were BO he would just install a Howard Dean Relative wouldn’t he???
Guess that means she thinks BO will not win. HA!!!
Does anyone know if Hillary ever confronted Brazile about the emails she was sending to Clinton supporters?
I am curious about this for certain reasons.
I am excited to see who would replace Brazile. Brazile and I have something of a history.

  294. Angienc,

Colmes is married to a professor at Rutgers University. Yes surprisingly enough, someone does actually care whether or not the guy has a heartbeat.

  295. FIF: THANK YOU for clarifying that – whew!!!! Donkey Brazzieres did way too much damage and didn’t even have the decency to stand up for what she did, she’s no better than Obambi.

    Tee hee!!! (((hug)))

  297. afrocity — now that is just about the most shocking thing I’ve learned in this campaign. It is amazing what some women will settle for.

  298. Looking & Afro: Check PUMAPAc or JustSayNoDeal sites.

  299. myiq

this is true — I was merely responding to your comment.

  300. Paula Abeles rocks! I did not recognize her.

  301. I love Freddy Mercury and Queen. Or at least I did.

  302. Man…o man!

  303. OMG — here is a picture of Colmes wife:
    http://www.jocelyncrowley.com/about.php
Does this guy have some kind of hidden talent (impossible) or is that woman hidden some kind of third eye under her hair (most likely)?

  304. a “15 minute” stop….hmmmmmm

  305. “It is amazing what some women will settle for.”

But God Bless America for miracles!

  306. The sad part is that Alan Colmes is the liberal foil to Hannity.
I never watched Fox before this election and I can safely say that Colmes would still probably irritate me even if he and I agreed on Gore, Kerry or whoever the DNC nominee was.

Hmm, my life as a DEM. Nevermore.

    I have one last question.

Is this Scott Rasmussen in the tank for Obama? He seems very happy to report when McCain is behind in the polls, and pensive today when Barry’s lead slipped.

  307. Afrocity-I will
    sm77- thanks!

Need to turn in – spent from long hours on project.

  308. Angie:

    Colmes is a cunning linguist

  309. night PUMA’s —–keep the faith. I am going to have dreams of Colmes on a barbeque spit. There are others I’d rather see slowly turning while I baste, but we can start at the bottom.

  310. Jocelyn Crowley Colmes is the sister of Monica Crowley, a right wing operative who appears frequently on Fox as a political commentator.

  311. I’m gonna put up a new thread cuz this one is sloooooow loading

It’s almost Tuesday back east anyway

  312. afrocity — actually, everyone in the msm seems in the tank for BO to me these days (except for Dobbs, Greta & Hannity) so I can’t tell about Rassmussen.
I hated Colmes before this election — the only difference now is I used to hate Hannity too.
myiq — Colmes may be a lot of things, but cunning he isn’t.
    New Thread!

  313. She is a babe! She looks younger than Colmes. He must be packing a big sausage.

  314. RD has a new post up!

  315. sm, there are times when I feel sorry for Obama too, but fundamentally, he wasn’t abused and he had people in his life who loved him and took care of him. Even if it wasn’t the person he wanted, that’s a hell of a lot more than many of us get. And didn’t he choose to live with his grandparente rather than return to Indonesia with his mother?

  316. Shit, I finally made it to the bottom of the thread! Just how many posts ARE there?

Thanks for great words of wisdom myiq. After reading that, I think your IQ probably IS twice mine.

Hmmmm, RD gonna set up a private room here for some flirtations? Please don’t – it’s more fun watching it all happen in public.

    And afrocity, one word: eeeeeeeewwwwww!

  317. bodyman???

  318. If you keep making that face it’s going to freeze that way.”

  319. Obama was only 10 when he was sent back to the grandparents, too young to be making decisions on his own. It may have been a move made for his best interests but he may harbor a lot of resentment against the mother who packed him off.

And really, do we know at all the dynamics that existed in that family? They may have help raise him but they may have let him know he was a “burden” to them. We keep giving the grandparents full credit but we have no idea what kind of nurturing he may have craved.

  320. Granny probably told Michelle “you know, if you keep making that face it’s going to freeze that way.”

    OOPS! Too Late!!

  321. *shrugs* I don’t want to sound insensitive, but there are millions of people out here who would have loved to have been sent to their grandparenst because of how awful living with their parents was. I don’t know what kind of nurturing he craved, but nobody has a perfect life, there’s a ;lot of things worse than being packed off to a from all accounts decent home, and his doesn’t seem that bad from what we know. People do the best they can and not perfect is a long way away from horrible or scarring.

  322. I respect a man like Pat Buchanan not for his politics (and not because he came to Hillary’s defense during the primary a few times), but because he’s the sort of conservative you can have a conversation with. You won’t change his mind and he won’t change yours – but he listens to what the other person says and responds directly. This isn’t the case with many others (and not just conservatives). They just go through their talking points. Think Satan Coulter: you’ll start off by telling her the weather is nice and she’ll tell you the weather is only deceptively nice, just like liberals are deceptive. They lie through their teeth and then BAM, they pounce and destroy you like a hurricane. And they hate America! You’ll then ask her about the Knicks and she’ll say: the Knicks are all evil liberals! They hate America! Half of them are closeted homosexuals and the other half are Muslims, and they should ALL be shipped over to Guantanamo! You’ll then comment on how pretty the blue sky is and she’ll respond: Blue? Like a blue Democrat?! Democrats are evil and thank God the sky isn’t actually blue! Liberals hate America!

Pat Buchanan isn’t like that. Plus, the manager of his 2000 Presidential campaign married an illegal immigrant. And Pat attended the wedding. Then there’s the case of his lesbian sister and fellow conservative pundit, Bay.

  323. myiq: a few years back, my car battery died. I think leaving my lights on all day might have done it.

I left my key in the car when I walked across the parking lot to see if one of my co-workers could help.

Did you know that the battery can still run the radio even when it can’t start the car? Well, I managed to walk a good 50 feet away before the radio came on and THAT song blasted across the lot!

I was in my early 20’s and could have died!

  324. I’m jumping in here late, but I want to say how much I liked this post. I would be a conservative democrat if there was such a thing anymore. So I am an independent and say “a plague on both parties”. I certainly don’t consider GWB to be a conservative, conservatives don’t bust the budget or get into expansionary wars. He is a bad president, but it is too early to say he was the worst, Grant, Buchanan, and Harding come right to mind as better candidates for that label.
I know that many here feel betrayed by their party and are looking at it with “new eyes”. However I think it’s just that the blinders have come off. Party politics has always been a dirty, nasty thing down deep. Crooked political machines and voter fraud are hundreds, if not thousands of years old, and are practiced by all sides.

  325. that’s not the typical white woman I once knew….
