    • And They Made A Desert: 80 to 90% Drop In Nutrients In Food
Stumbled across this lovely chart the other day. The core fact most people, including the folks in the “best every world” Panglossian movement (like Pinker) don’t seem to understand, is that even if they were right (questionable), the prosperity we have is based on burning down our house. “Sure is hot! Hottest it’s every been!” […]

Late Night: The Dog Barks at Midnight

What if there are people out there in the old U.S. of A. who think they are surrounded by forces beyond their control and they are waiting, waiting for a sign, a code, a word…

They have the sense that something is not right about the election but they think they are outnumbered.  They’re wrong.  They aren’t outnumbered.  They are unconnected.

Hey, I didn’t want it to turn out this way.  I think it would be tres chic to have an African-American president.  I just think that the nominee who got this far by manipulating primary results, villifying women and cutting off the working class has Martin Luther King rolling in his grave.  We don’t know who is giving him the hundreds of millions of dollars to run his campaign and we sure as hell don’t trust him.  If we succeed in our endeavor of truncating his meteoric political career, we will not be famous.  We’ll be notorious.  It may be years before anyone recognizes the honor in what we do.  We are only trying to make sure that we all go forward together.  That we leave no one behind.  That lives, fortunes and sacred honor depend upon one another.

So I urge you to Join The Resistance.  Let’s drown out the Haka.  It is big and noisy and intimidating.  But we have heart and a vision.

(Oh, to be Laslo or Rick and have Ilsa look at me like that…)

  1. We don’t know for sure who is behind the enormous funding in this campaign but my money is on “the usual suspects”.

  2. So Bostonboomer’s poll several threads down must have been publicized on DKos or disgruntled former Conflucians are sending it around because Obama is winning in a landslide. I know most of the regular people on this site do not want to see Obama win. This is why online polls are so bogus.

  3. Poor MLK. I wonder what he would be saying right now?

  4. We know they “visit” this site judging by the number of hits. We may talk a lot but no way could we alone produce that number of hits on our own.

  5. Damn, just got to the bottom of the LAST thread. You all are prolific tyoday.

  6. I walk into the voting booth, I cast my one lousy ballot, what the hell difference do polls make to me?

  7. littlesis,

That is a good question but I think MLK would most likely be thrown under the bus with Jesse Jackson , Sharpton, and the rest of them.
Obama did not mention MLK’s name once during the great Greek Temple speech. Yes that speech that was on the anniversary MLK’s “I had a dream speech”

  8. Btw, Obama has disclosed only 10% of his 3 mio “donors”, while McCain has disclosed ALL the names of his donors, small, medium large.

Can you guys imagine if vile Hillary was raising $5 mio/day for month (with obscure donors) what would be going on in the media?

Where are all the people in the media who used to whine than there are way too much money in the election?

Moreover, McCain has “only” $84 mio for the entire GE, why is there still a contest, considering that in some (still) close States, Obama is running 1,300+ ads to McCain’s 8?

  9. I agree afrocity. It’s a shame that Obama, the first African-American nominee of a major party, refused to go to Tavis Smiley’s State of the Black Union and didn’t feel the need to even mention MLK or the civil rights movement. But he is okay with using his surrogates to smear anyone who disagrees with him as a r@cist. I don’t understand why so many people don’t see him for the opportunist that he is.

  10. “Btw, Obama has disclosed only 10% of his 3 mio “donors”, while McCain has disclosed ALL the names of his donors, small, medium large.”

He can’t disclose anymore. They haven’t enough translators.

  11. I wish I had been Ilsa, and I would have stayed with Rick and not given a hill of beans about the rest of the world.

  12. ugsome:

If the polls said I was gonna be the only person in the country that didn’t vote for Obama, it wouldn’t change my how I filled out my ballot.

You constantly have to wonder what it is Obama actually cares about.

  14. MABlue — the man has spent 600 Million (that we know of) on this campaign so far — that’s not including his spending in October with commercials on AMC & other random channels, not to mention that 1/2 Obama Infomericial coming up.
And I don’t think that includes all the money his “PAC” gave to SDs. A billion dollars on an election? The good news is, he still hasn’t been able to close the deal.

  15. LOL, I wonder why they care so much? What is about dissent that makes them so enraged?

I feel strangely buoyed. The haka simply isn’t working. For whatever reason, it has the smell of desperation right now. Or maybe it’s reading so many people who will not, under any circumstances, accept a video showing violence against a woman. Makes me realize I’m not alone, not in the least.

  16. littleisis:

We are doing what King dreamed of – we are looking at the content of Obama’s character and not the color of his skin.

I wish Obama was worthy of King’s sacrifice, but he’s not

  17. I think I may be the only black person in Chicago not voting for Obama.

  18. Sometimes I feel sorry for Barack. A little boy of 10 shipped off to his grandparents and having no control over any form of decision making.

We keep glorifying the grandparents but we have no true idea of what went on in that home. He apparently needed more nurturing then he received and though this may not be the fault of any one person, we should stop and think of what it must have been like for him as a child. The books tell us our psyche is formed by the age of six so if he had not been fully nurtured and loved by that age chances are he would seek some form of validation throughout his life in order to fill that void.

On the surface the grandparents may have been lovely people but we do not know the whole story of the 8 years he lived with them. If he can glorify his relationship to his absent father he may well have done the same with them.

  19. DV — Obama didn’t “need” to go to the State of the Black Union — the primaries in the deep South (with their high % of AAs) were over & he was trying to “close the deal” with wins in TX & OH (which he didn’t do) so he had to make sure those voters didn’t see him as the “black candidate.” Such a hypocrite.

    Tee hee.
You are absolutely right, if you think about it.

  21. Yes, afrocity, I noticed that too. (yeah, I know I was going to turn in, but then myiq announced the new thread…). I couldn’t listen to it because the hypocrisy of the “kulissen” that $6M movie set just repulsed me, but I read the transcript.

Is it possible that he wanted to, well, minimize the importance of, and replace the still fresh memory of MLK with his own speech, and movie set, and “presence”.

  22. Pat, that can be said of any person growning up with a single parent. My mother and I did food stamps, homeless shelters, slept on a bench…I went to college and grad school. I never did cocaine. Never had the same animosity for whites shown by Obama in his book.

  23. When this campaign began I wasn’t supporting Hillary (or opposing Obama) but I came to believe that she was the best candidate.

My initial lack of support for Hillary and my eventual support for her had nothing to do with her gender. My opposition to Obama has nothing to do with the color of bhis skin.

His supporters may say differently, but I know what is (and has been) in my heart and mind.

  24. I am not softening toward Obama just commenting that this may be the reason for his aloofness. A child who does not feel cherished may feel the wave of love coming from a crowd of admirers fills what he has been missing. Just a thought.

  25. Wow. Afrocity and everyone else should watch this video over at Sugar n’ Spice. I agree with everything this black guy has got to say:

I remember Hillary’s speech at the SBU. It was beautiful.

  27. Pat J — sometimes I feel sorry for Barrack too — no, I’m lying. I’ve never felt sorry for him. He gives me a total “doesn’t care about anyone but himself” vibe — and I can’t have any empathy for someone like that.

  28. looking for integrity,

I spoke too soon. Cook County has lost my voters registration card in the mail. Tomorrow is the last day I can get it back.

  29. If it makes you feel better, afrocity, you are not. I know of two more.

  30. There is therapy for these feelings of detachment. I wish he’d seek help instead of the Presidency.

I agree. But I won’t make excuses for him anyway. I do feel a bit sorry for him.

  32. afrocity: But you felt loved. That is the difference. Despite your adversities you had the feeling of belonging. I don’t think he ever did. A father who abandoned him, a mother who sent him away, a child of two separate cultures trying to fit in, who knows how the grandparents reacted to him. He must have felt like a loner inside.

I am just trying to see him for the person that lies beneath the mask. He is well hidden for all his gifts. A man looking for something to replace what he did not have.

  33. good night all…

  34. I love La Marseillaise, but i love more the idea of La Resistance.

Vive la Resistance; Vive Les Pumas, Vive Les Etats-Unis!

  35. I got my little itty bitty absentee ballot today, will circle my ovals tonight and fex-ex it back to St. Bernard tomorrow.

I understand what the clip about the resistance is for, but I always liked this version sung by Mirelle Mathieu. It’s an old tape and there are several versions on youtube sung by her.

    a href=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_8dafLxLcI”>Old video of Mirelle

  36. screw it I’ll try again!

    Old video of Mirelle

  37. I don’t feel sorry for him. His grandmother worked at a bank. Michelle’s father was in a good career.

My grandmother scrubbed the floors of wealthy Chicago Jewish families. I didn’t end up with Wright and Ayers. I didn’t sully myself by buying a home from a criminal.

I hate Obama’s milking of his background like …eh forget it don’t get me started. He is just so disingenuous “My father is from Kenya, blah, blah. “

Yes. A lot of people grow up in very trying circumstances, but they use it for good.
Obama does not do that. He uses it as a cripple.

  41. Wow, that video from Sugar ‘n Spice was right on!

  42. I have a lot in common with Obama.

My maternal grandparents are from Kansas. I was born in 1960 (a year earlier than Obama) and my parents divorced when I was a baby. I was raised with “heartland values” in another place.

My mother raised me and my sister as a single mom with help from my granddparents. I spent many or my formative years closer to my grandma than my mom.

I never knew my father growing up, but spent several years with a step-father. I eventually earned a JD degree.

But I don’t whine about my childhood. I’m proud of my mother, my family, and myself. We never had much, but we had enough. And we never epected more.

  43. afrocity – I would actually like you to get started… He is definitely disingenuous and has made he exceedingly unhappy with his fake hard luck story.

  44. After 600 M in ads, and a MSM saturated with Obama-fawning, for all we know Obama is a woman from Mars who has given birth to 10 alpaca and sleeps upside down in a paw-paw tree while holding pythons. The media have totally failed us this year.

  45. I voted for McCain/Palin today, in a swing state no less, having voted strictly Democratic for over 35 years.

I can’t believe how good it felt, my resistant vote. I felt empowered for the first time since we’ve endured the relentless trashing of Hillary, Obama’s lies and posturing, the environment he’s created that has generated a free-for-all of sexism and misogyny, of being called a racist for not supporting an unqualified candidate, the corruption of the RBC, the corruption of the Dem Party.

Voting against Obama was my most satisfying PUMA moment to date.
But it was not the end of my resistance. There is much more to do.

  46. elderj,

But that is what the crowd loves. My cousin does not even identify with Obama as an AA. This is why that whole fried chicken story that came out yesterday was a joke. Obama’s roots are not slavery, not really or in the same sense as AA’s

  47. DV — that video on Sugar N Spice is a trip. That guy “Black people used to riot back in the day, for Malcolm X & MLK. Gen Y black people aren’t going to riot for Obama ” LMAO.

  48. myiq2xu,

You sound like the typical white person…Just kidding 😉

  49. Medusa, I completely understand. I felt the same way when I voted for McCain several weeks ago. Believe me when I say I never thought I’d be in this position, voting for a Republican for the first time after 8 years of Bush and actually feeling good about it.

If you go over to Partizane, someone has written a post about voting for McCain today too. You might want to check that out.

  50. I’ve been part of a classmates.com group for maybe 7 years now, long enough to feel that the core group of longtime active members are part of my family. Though we are scattered from coast to coast and across the pond, we’ve been through a lot together, propped one another up through death and illness, cheered one another on through thick and thin.

Well, yesterday, in an effort to break through the Obot fog which seems to have descended over my once-rational “family” (they were aware that I’m not an Obama fan, but nevertheless began rhapsodizing about him once again this week and proudly announcing they’d be voting for him), anyway… I posted a link to that horrible Terri Tate video with a note saying that this year, I will be voting against misogyny, among other things. I also said that the video had deeply upset me, that it had left me shaking.

A number of my old classmates – all of whom are somewhere around 60 – have dearly beloved daughters, so I thought the video might get through to them. I also recommended they take a look at the comments left by viewers.

Know what I got in reply? Zero, zip, zilch. Dead silence. Oh, with one exception. One classmate, apparently drowning cheap grace, announced to all that what I said could be considered racist.

Would someone just shoot me, please. What the hell is wrong out there?

  51. Pat, my mother has serious emotional problems, so I know a little bit about not being nurtured before the age of 6, and in my experience, it doesn’t really work that way. If anything, people who are abused enotionally and physically have such low self esteem that they think they’re worthless and have a hard time functioning normally. One of my siblings falls into that category. Obama doesn’t seem like an abused child running after public approval, just the opposite, but that could just be me. He’d have to have had a hell of a hellish childhood for the degree of resentment that he exhibits.

  52. Well poop, I cant’ get that right. To hell with it!

  53. afrocity — you know, that is the first thing my mom said about Obama — “Why is he going around pretending to be African American. He isn’t African American, his father is from Kenya!” Of course, the way she said it came out funny, but she of course meant that his family doesn’t have the history of slavery that we in this country think of when we say a person is African American.

  54. Make that “drowning in cheap grace…”

  55. When Obama talks about hardship as a child I would ask him what he missed out on.

But if you watch carefully, Obama never talks about that stuff. It’s always MO or some other surrogate.

That way any is any contradictory evidence or witnesses turn up, there is plausible deniability.

  56. Can someone tell me what has happened to Katiebird? I see her on other sites but not here lately – am I just missing her? Please tell me that she has not flown away…..

  57. afrocity,

I don’t only remember the woman’s name who wrote a very compelling article along the same lines (Obama’s roots) on Black Agenda Report.

If I find it, I’ll post the link here.

  58. Good going Medusa! Isn’t it great to be liberated from the false chains, guilt & ingratitude of the DNC!

  59. Afrocity, it upsets me deeply that your voter registration card is lost , I hope they find it , or that you find some way to cast your vote.

and fwiw, I dont feel sorry for “that one” either .
My grandmother Theresa was from Italy . When she was a teen ager she was tricked into going to a mans house that was 20 years older than she was ; and they kept her there over night. At that time , that meant she had to marry him with no hope of divorce. She was not able to get away from him until they came to this country , and not until after she had six children , by him . Then she met my grandfaher and lived with him , and had six more children , but at least she chose him ! This was a family scandal , but I see my grandmother as a heroine , and I dont know how she made it . Maybe our grandmothers were made of sterner stuff .
I really wonder how bo keeps his grandmother so locked up .

  60. contre nous de la tyrannie
    l’entendant sanglant est leve

against us the bloody standard of tyranny is raised

A little frightening, but somewhat appropos. I love to hear La Marseillaise, my father used to sing it to us. The music is very dramatic.

  61. Angienc, you you spot on my friend. I will take it a step further. From what i know of Chicago and from what I know of the Black Muslim movement. In my opinion the Obama’s are very Farrakhan-ish in their ideologies, mannerisms, dress, etc.

When I see Obama.I do not see an AA.

He hates patriotism or American sentiment. That gives me an uneasy feeling.

  62. I thought only ‘chili dogs’ barked at midnight?

  63. Well, lililam, I’m more than ready for le jour de gloire to arriver already.

  64. LIke most of you, I don’t care about whether Obama was a Muslim child, or illegitimate or adopted. But wouldn’t it be the most delicious irony if it turns out that there really is a deal-breaker somewhere there about Obama’s birth or whatever? I know we don’t speculate on any of that here, and I won’t go there, but when I recall that Barack & Claire sponsored natural birth legislation supposedly to help McCain, I really wonder.

  65. Kat5 — I’m sorry that happened to you. Although it is a small comfort I can tell you that a very similar situation happened to me (early in the primary) I posted some well thought out points of my preference for Hillary (and, thus opposition to Obama) on a blog I had been a regular on for 10 years. My criticism of Obama’s lack of experience was deemed racist & a dog pile ensued. Eff them. The funny thing is at that point I was still thinking I would vote for Obama if he won the nomination but the over the top reaction by the others on there is what made me pay more attention to what was really going on, find sites like this one, and realize that I could never support him.

  66. Obama backs off from the family because AA’s get unsettled they see the “white side”.

The things Jerimiah Wright and Flager said about HRC was awful.

  67. Regency:

(scene opens up in Obama’s bedroom. Michelle is gone, she is busy getting lobster and caviar for dinner. Obama paces around his room while his therapist, a young woman named Little Isis, speaks to him from a cushioned chair. The wall is plastered with celebrity posters of William Ayers, and there is a framed photo of Obama and Wright on the bedside table. On the bedroom door, there are two large tac posters of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. They are currently being used as dart boards and there are many darts puncturing their lovely faces. Michelle has also drawn a mustache and devil horns on Hillary. Obama stops and sits down in the chair opposite Little Isis)

Little Isis: What’s troubling you Barack?

Barack Obama: Well, uh, uh, uh, er, ah, um… you see. I just feel…. this irrational anger all of the time! I mean, I’m going to illegally win this election and become president of the United States with strong arm tactics, media manipulation, and acorn… but ah, um, ahhh…
I’m still so angry and it isn’t satisfying at all!

Little Isis: Well… maybe we should try to dig deep to the… ROOT… of your anger. Now, let’s examine those dart boards Barack. Do you think that’s really necessary? Is that a good way to express yourself?

Barack Obama: (begins to cry) Noooooo!!!!! I just hate them SO much!!! They’re going to make me LOSE!!! All they’ve done is win America’s love and trust, and here I am, being called out on friendships with terrorists…

Little Isis: But, ah, Barack,. They’re your political rivals. That’s very understandable. In fact, I’d say that with all the things you’re doing, they’re going easy on you. Now, what about that Alan Keys fellow? Did you have dart boards of him? How about voodoo pin dolls of John McCain-

Barack Obama: I have a Hillary voodoo doll all ready!!! And a Palin Punching bag!!!

Little Isis: -Or Joe Biden. With the gaffes he’s been spouting lately, you should just nail him in a coffin or something…

Barack Obama: Yeah!!! Him saying Hillary would have been a better pick??? What does he even mean???

Little Isis: (coughs). Look Barack, she technically beat you. The nomination was handed to you. Honestly, you know she would be winning right now. John McCain shouldn’t even be close to you…

Barack Obama: I HATE HER!!!! SHE LEFT ME!!! SHE LEFT ME WITH MY WHITE R*&CIST GRAND MA MA!!! AND SHE DIDN’T WANT TO GO OUT WITH ME!!! NOW I’M STUCK WITH MICHELLE, WHO BUYS CAVIAR ALL OF THE TIME!!!! AND NOW SARAH PALIN IS GOING TO BEAT ME AND NO ONE WILL EVER LOVVVEEE MEEEEE… (begins to cry again)

    Little Isis:
    ….
There there, Barack, I’m going to go home now. We’ve made a lot of progress today.

Barack Obama: (sniffs) can… can you get me my waffles while you’re down there?

  68. Ack! I used the “r” word. Please let me out of moderation! Thanks.

  69. Moi aussi, Kat

  70. I’m not just white, I’m really, really white.

But from what I can see Obama is whiter than me in most ways.

Yes, his skin is darker than mine and his father is from Kenya. But he was raised in a white, upper-middleclass family with privileges I never had. He went to an exclusive prep school and then an Ivy League college followed by Harvard Law School.

What connection does he have with the typical AA in this country? His job as a community organizer?

  71. Afrocity, I bet if you told the Obama Chicago folks that you were a huge Obot and couldn’t wait to vote for The One, somehow you would get a magic ballot.

  72. parentofed said, “[F]or all we know Obama is a woman from Mars who has given birth to 10 alpaca and sleeps upside down in a paw-paw tree while holding pythons.”

Now I would totally vote for that.

  73. parentofed,

My apology did not mean to sound like a twit. I have no prob with Obama’s faith. My issue is that it is covered up. In Chicago Michelle is ensconced in that world. Why not just admit it. Why throw your church under the bus?

Not only awful, but wrong. I have always been wary of the Nation of Islam, though I know that Islam is a peace loving religion.

Obama’s father was an Arab African. So actually, most of Barack Obama’s background is white. He is actually only about twenty percent African.

  75. parentofed,

That’s what I’ve always thought too. Most everything in his life has been handed to him, while other Americans have to work hard for what they achieve.

  78. Not a whole lot, myiq, that’s why he spends so much time discussing sweet potato pie and fried chicken- he is obviously over-compensating, but it appears to be working. Can you imagine even Jesse Jackson discussing such things repeatedly?

    Bonne nuit

  81. I do not know anyone who had a perfect childhood.
i was in foster homes and went to 13 different schools. According to most people I should be a failure. I worked ,married, raised 4 children while working.I retired as a supervisor of operations for a national railroad. I was called back as a consultant for a commuter railroad and work two nights a week.
If you blame your childhood for all the mistakes you make in life you never learn to correct them.
All you can do is try to make life better for you and your family and the people around you.

America cannot afford to pay for backtrack’s troubled childhood.

While I was back east they kept playing an ad on tv about obama’s mother. this is a man who did not go to her deathbed but feels it is ok to use her in an ad.
This is a dangerous man and a troubled man.

  82. parentfored — being an American born outside of the U.S. while her father was in the U.S. Navy I want to clear something up about that whole McCain legislation b.s. — when a parent is in the service of his/her country (whether in the military or at an embassy) the child is a “natural born citizen” because the base/embassy etc. is considered U.S. “soil.” I am a natural born citizen. My birth certificate does not say “Certificate of Live Birth of U.S. Citizen Born Abroad” (which would have been the case if my parents had just been living abroad when I was born) — my birth certificate says “Certificate of Live Birth of Natural U.S. Citizen Born Abroad” that is a big difference. McCain didn’t need that b.s. legislation. He is a natural born citizen.

  83. Okay, Swannie is talking dirty just like Angie

  84. myiq2xu,

    LOL.LOL

I was saying to a friend that when Obama stands next to Biden. It looks like two white guys standing there tome.Obama
goes on about how he does not have the pedigree of a president. He has a funny name, he doesn’t look like the men on US currency. That is BS. Obama is more status quo than Sarah palin. Ivy leaguer. Yet the Obots vilify Palin for transferring from school to school, being from Alaska.

Yet it is the party of diversity. The DNC is a piece of sh$t

  85. so, angie, do you think the legislation was tailor made for you know who, or just a ploy to cast doubt on McCain, or both?

  86. I told someone the other day that Obama had NOI bodyguards prior to SS protection, and he absolutely couldn’t believe it.

As for the media, if Obama is elected and some god-awful stuff comes out, I totally believe there should be hearings or something. I don’t know what, but there has to be some kind of accountability, some responsibility among the media. It’s one thing if you know some media lean a certain way, but when the whole damn kit ‘n kaboodle fail on most basic skepticism, and use the campaign memos of a candidate as actual news, there is something wrong in this country.

  87. I recognize the honor in what you do. And in Joe Lieberman. McCain has also offended people in his party (my party).

I recognize the honor in what the President of the LA Chapter of NOW did.

In all of you, and in them, is the chance that we will put aside the divisive partisan politics, and once again work together for what is good for the country and not for the party. It gives me REAL HOPE for REAL CHANGE, change that is badly needed.

I thank you for your work. And I join you.

  88. I knew a lot of biracial kids like BO when I was younger and honestly they were always much more militant and on edge than the other Black kids. It was as if they felt a need to “prove” their Blackness more because they lived in between two racial realities. So I was not at all surprised to learn that BO hung out in such a radical church or had such radical friends. It fits very well. It is also evident to me that he’s learned well over the years to play on the guilt of well intentioned white people in order to get what he wants and that he feels rather entitled to whatever he gets. His forays into Black radicalism are necessary for him to prove to himself that he’s really Black enough, because everything else in his world is lily white and upper class white at that.

All of that being said, I don’t feel in the least sorry for him and I ain’ t voting for him at all.

  101. I have been thinking about moving to another country.I really have been. After the lunacy I’ve witness here lately,I have no problems with leaving.

  102. Elderj, Obama doesn’t strike me as actually being militant, or even genuinely confused about his racial identity. He just seems like a born user of others, regardless of color. Seems like he chose to be a) black and b) Dem because that would get him the most mileage, make him stand out more down the road. He just seems so damned coldly calculating about everything, actually sort of inhuman. Not cool, but just plain cold.

  103. Repost!

  117. Night myiq — sweet dreams of me (and my kidneys).

  118. AngieNC,

Obama is in big trouble now re: Berg lawsuit.

    Breaking…

    http://www.americasright.com/2008/10/berg-obama-dnc-admit-all-allegations.html

According to Rule 36 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, a party upon whom requests for admissions have been served must respond, within 30 days, or else the matters in the requests will be automatically deemed conclusively admitted for purposes of the pending action.

On September 15, Philip Berg served Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee with a request for admissions. Barack Obama and the DNC acknowledged service in their motion for protective order, filed on October 6 in an attempt to persuade the court to stay discovery. The Federal Rules require that a response be filed within the 30-day time limit, and Barack Obama and the DNC have not. Therefore, this morning, Philip Berg will file two motions:

A motion requesting an immediate order deeming his request for admissions served upon Barack Obama and the DNC on September 15 admitted

    AND…

A motion requesting an expedited ruling and/or hearing on Berg’s motion deeming the request for admissions served upon Obama and the DNC admitted.

Obama’s legal team voted present on Rule 36!!! Can you believe it? LMAO!! HAHA!! Those attorneys for Obama aren’t as smart as they thought they were!

I don’t see how Barry’s legal team will be able to avoid their non-compliance with Rule 36. It’s a potential checkmate on Obama.

Berg will be filing the new motions in the morning.

    Thoughts?

  119. Mmmmmm, smokin’ hot kidneys!

  120. Night , Afrocity.

Lil Isis: Yes, naturally Hillary Health Care. I guess we’re saving the real CARE just for us.

  121. Spot on, little isis.

  122. “Obama is more status quo than Sarah palin. Ivy leaguer. Yet the Obots vilify Palin for transferring from school to school, being from Alaska.”

One of the problems is, just like Women for Obama, all these bots think they’re on the same team and won’t be sneered at by them. They’re in the club! I was eavesdropping on some profs from the local college whining about palin, and it’s like, give it a rest. You didn’t go to Harvard, they’re sneering at her for going to non-Ivy league U, they think the school where you teach is a joke as well, you don’t make much money either–you’ll never be in the club. It’s pathetic.

  123. Iron Man — I wouldn’t be so quick on that. There is a motion for protective order pending & that motion was filed before the 30 days ran — the court hasn’t ruled on the motion for protective order– if the court rules in in favor of Berg Obama will be given X days (as set by the court) to answer the requests. If the court rules in favor of Obama on the protective order, the requests are moot — Obama doesn’t have to answer them. Now, Berg may certainly file (as he seems to be doing) to file additional motions to try to force the court to actually rule on the motion for protective order, but the requests for admission are not admitted until the issue of the protective order is resolved. Sorry to disappoint you on that. Let me know if anything isn’t clear from what I wrote.

  124. I don’t know if this was all over the MSM or just on the Chicago station evening news that I glanced at when I got in, but Obama is taking 2 days off of campaigning to go stay with his grandmother who is ill.

  125. Seriously, I am seriously, seriously disappointed in my (former) fellow libruls – what a bunch of snobs so many of them have turned out to be.

And angie, thanks for the kind words up above. I’m pretty disappointed in my old classmates, too. Never took them for kool aid drinkers.

    That is all over.
I hope his Grandma gets better.

  130. AngieNC,

Thanks for your help on that.

Might this Rule 36 issue force the Court to rule now on the protective order without further delay? Perhaps that is the strategy by the new motion from Berg? It sure seems the Judge in the case is delaying his ruling for some reason.

And yes, you are correct that Obama filed for a protective order, but it seems as though some sort of answer would have needed to be filed per Rule 36 on the admissions, even if it was a simple General Denial or Verified Answer.

I’m not an attorney, so I really appreciate your thoughts on th elegal aspects of this latest development.

Rule 36 seems to have some serious teeth to it, yes? It looks like a ruling will have to be coming down soon now. And interesting Obama is heading for Hawaii. Hmm…

  131. “You didn’t go to Harvard, they’re sneering at her for going to non-Ivy league U, they think the school where you teach is a joke as well, you don’t make much money either–you’ll never be in the club. It’s pathetic.”

Well, we’ll have to see what Hillary and Cindy think about threesomes.
If Hillary said yes, I think it would very much improve our relationship with her, don’t you think?

  133. When Obama’s mother was dying, he apparently had no time for her. Now his grandmother may be dying, and he’s rushing to her side. So, what changed? Obama himself? Or his status as public/private figure?

  139. Oh, forgot to ask this a minute ago.

Does the request for the protective order exempt Obama from the Rule 36 requirement?

  140. Ask me about pantsuits and I’m all over it.

  141. The Berg suit may be stuck in Philadelphia for awhile, yet, which really sucks, but, let me just throw this out there for comment.

The other lawsuit … the one filed in Hawaii for a summary, emergency hearing to gain access to any and all birth records of BO… that lawsuit may be heard by the Hawaiian Supreme Court this week.

Now… can we all say, “Hm-m-m if Grandma is so gravely ill, why wouldn’t you take the wife and grandkids along to see her? It just couldn’t be that Grandma is a convenient excuse to be in Hawaii because of a potentially lethal lawsuit. It just couldn’t be that. Could it?”

My poor Grandmother fell several times when I was in college and needed to get out of something, and then there was Johnny Fairplay on Survivor with the imfamous “my grandmother isn’t with us, anymore” ploy.

I don’t suppose anyone knows any Hawaiin PUMAs who could keep an eye out on the Supreme Court building or the Records building, wherever that is, later this week?

Well, you are farther along than I am… I still haven’t gotten over how swayed people are by a demagogue… Incredulous!

  153. You are welcome scrubs — & if I ever need to know more about my pelvis, you will be the first one I call.
Iron Man — you are right on many things. Rule 36 is serious — if Obama had not filed anything in response to the Requests they would be deemed admitted after 30 days. However by filing the Motion for Protective Order he kind of “stopped the clock” on that time running until the Court rules on the motion. It is basically a delay strategy that Obama is using by filing that motion. As to Berg’s new motions, you are right again — filing them is a strategy he is using to force the court to rule on the motion. Again, I believe you are right that the Court seems to be delaying ruling on the motion because even though with the federal dockets as swamped a 2 week waiting period for a ruling on a motion for protective order is kind of long — such motions are usually deemed “emergencies” (because of the time frames to answer discovery, courts don’t want people to use motions for protective orders just to buy time) and get set quickly for hearing & ruling. I’ve heard the judge in the case is a Dem & was appointed by Bill Clinton, but I have no insight into that court, so I can’t give any info on that.

  154. Neither do I have a clue, seriously. Talk about a non sequitur. Guess that’s what a lot of those b.s. r@cism charges boil down to. The difficulty of disproving a negative and all.

  155. Warrior Princess — it’s hard not to look for ulterior motives and hidden agendas behind everything this piece-of-sh*t does, isn’t it?

  156. Iron Man, that explanation just brought up about 5 other numbered rules. Doesn’t help me much. Did angie go to bed? Oh wait, myiq is still here so there’s hope that she might still be around.

  172. Regency: you are so right. It is Hillary in the pantsuit that does it for me, not the actual pantsuit itself. Hmmmm, are there any pictures of Sarah in pantsuits?

    Mmmmm…
    Sarah in a pantsuit

  173. BO would be disqualified, though I don’t know by what mechanism. Then Biden would take over.

  174. Ironman:

Did you know that NJ has more toxic waste dumps than any other state? And did you know that California has the most lawyers?

    Do you know why?

    A: NJ had first choice

  175. myiq —

LOL and that is what I find so charming about you.

  176. Lil Isis: Sarah in HER Pantsuit. *is ded*

  177. Karolina NYC, on October 21st, 2008 at 1:38 am

It would be a Constitutional crisis. Could we expect the Democratic controlled Congress to act and boot Obama out? I’m not sure.

That is why this issue MUST be resolved BEFORE the election.

Waiting until after the election may be too late.

America would be mad as hell because it would be proff that Obama committed fraud, and their might be criminal repercussions to his failure to disclose that he was not a natural born US Citizem, if that is proven in court.

  178. “Hey! I’m not only here for myiq.

    Well! I just got punked

  179. This is making waves in our little community. Capt. Spaulding vs. Iron Man, now we’re just waiting for Godzilla to come and take both of them out.

Anyway, Winky one will have her hunk of man candy Todd Palin if I pay a visit to the war room.
See, you’ll be occupied. Can you bring some champagne when you stop by? Pantsuity wife gets thirsty pretty fast during strategy sessions.
Scrubs: I know! I’ve never been a fan of them and my mother is an avid wearer. Hillary made it kind of fashionable. Ain’t no shame in having a figure and those pantsuits make it look good (particularly the black one with the white lapel piping).
Lil Isis: Pantsuit lingerie, you mean.
I’m easy. Every pantsuit she wears is lingerie to me. Love the yellow ones and the light blue brings out her eyes. I would marry her in the ash grey one she had on at the Convention before her speech. Rowrrrrr.

I think they should make Pantsuit lingerie a fashion.
Hillary really did sell the pantsuits. She looks really good in them, and sarah looks so good in her skirty things.

I am not sure our Pantsuity wife will be thirsty for champagne during the strategy session when I show up.

    (sssss).

  184. Iron Man — one more thing about your original question — you can’t just do a general denial for Request for Admissions — if you deny them & they turn out to be true then you can get taxed for a lot of attorney’s fees & fines for “wasting” everybody’s time in not just admitting them in the first place. The attorney can also be sanctioned (Rule 13) for not adequately researching the matter — when an attorney signs something with the court he is certifying that he has done a reasonable investigation into the matter before answering, so, contrary to popular belief, he can’t flat out lie about what is in the motion, etc.

Nudist War Room! Yeah, we’ll really get stuff done then.

  187. Thanks again, Angie. Sounds like Obama failed to provide any answer to the actual Request for Admissions, other than the request for a protective order.

I hope the protective order request does not exempt Obama from Rule 36, but sounds like it might?

  188. myiq — no need to feel punked — the emphasis was on the “only” — you are the main attraction.

Ok, I hate to leave you all but I’m done. Good night! And thank you for a real good time. 🙂

  189. Iron Man — just this last — it will give him a little more time to answer — if the court rules in Berg’s favor on the motion for protective order, the court will give Obama a certain amount of days (as determined by the court) to answer the requests.

Our pantsuity wifey has very deep and sincere needs that must be met. Particularly if she is to get UHC passes.

Night, angie. (If you are still around.)

  200. Look Regency, just because you cannot keep up with our pantsuited one and all of the other nekkid personal and I can, does not mean you can stake claim on her.

Yes, I can. I need her to care for me so that I can care for her. You know she’s other-directed, she likes nurturing others. I fulfill those needs as well as her strategizing needs. I’m the wee advisers in her pantsuit and in her pocket. If you see her shiver during a hearing, you know why. If she starts biting her lip at an inopportune moment, you know why. If she slides down a wall, reduced to a boneless puddle of lazily smiling pantsuit, you know why. The little pantsuit elf is in the House–or shall we say, in the Hillary.

Ehem, strategizing is a euphemism. But I multitask well so I could probably set it up so that she could campaign on her back or against some convenient flat surface between stops. Not a problem. Don’t get sassy, I’ve have a degree in Pantsuit Exploration and Removal. It’s a delicate skill. Naturally, my mentor is Big Dawg Candy himself. I’m his star pupil; that’s why he brought me home to practice with him. LBD and I are good friends tool I’ve practiced my careful handling and care on him many a time.

Silly thing, I’m a Scorpio, I don’t believe in Mercy. Mercilessness is in my nature. She likes that. She likes a lot of other things too but as she was leaving this evening she warned me not to tell too many secrets; her political enemies might try to use those techniques to bend her will. Even Pantsuity goes weak in the knees once and again if you know just. where. to stroke.

  238. Oh, Ms. Polly,
No one here gives a damn about “the endorsement.” The Bush Administraton has endorsed Obama via CP. How very, very appropriate.

  239. Little story, Polly.

I am a doctor. When I was doing my pre-med degree I tutored an AA student through most of the very difficult organic chemistry and physics courses. She passed with C’s and I got A’s. When we were close to graduation, she got offered positions at some of the top medical schools in the country, Harvard included. She, herself, acknowledged that she was likely benefiting from affirmative action by being African American. I got into several medical schools but none of them were Ivy League.

I am one year older than Barack Obama. You better believe he benefited from those very same programs.

And were you talking about that recent endorsement that was racist?

  240. Oh well – I had a good response to Polly about how BO got into Harvard but used the r word and my comment went to moderation. You guys see yourselves fit to use it if you want.

  241. Hello all I am finally home from my Orlando trip…was good but seems like you cannot attend a LGBT event and not get a big rotting taste of obama…Rosie O’Donnell’s brother the New York Assemblyperson was there schilling for “the one” too.

Yes, although Sarah is indeed a Republican with all of the self-serving ideas that that entails, she was the only one of “the four” to mention restoring goodwill in her Convention speech. Thank goodness she mentioned education and infrastructure in her debate w/ Biden. These things give me a little hope.

The comments come one week after he called his own constituents “racist” in an interview with his local newspaper.

“What I said, that indicted everybody, that’s not what I meant at all. What I mean is there’s still folks that have a problem voting for someone because they are black,” Murtha said.

Murtha said the history of southwestern Pennsylvania is teeming with racism. “This whole area, years ago, was really redneck,” he told WTAE-TV Pittsburgh.

Murtha, a Democrat, apologized last week for calling the area “racist,” but challenger Bill Russell said it was a reckless insult to the people in his district and the “cheapest of cheap shots.”

could this guy be a bigger asshole?

  257. I think that John Murtha may want to retire to spend ‘more time with his family’ and that the voters should help him do so.

  258. gary, remember when politcians just came out and said they were wrong, period. That never happens anymore its always, “I apologize, but …” or most often “what I meant was…”.

Will the WORM make the worm turn?

  259. RD wrote in her post : “… we have heart and a vision.” Rupert Murdoch once asked his staff whether they wanted amiable incompetence or discipline and vision. You can guess which he chose. Rupert might have been well advised to add “heart” to his list of desiderata. But I think, equally, we would be wise to add “discipline” to ours.

  260. urgetocompute, sounds powerful to me!

  261. New thread.

  262. Mrs. Polly, Obama was elected to his position as president of the review. The rules had been changed by the time BO was at Harvard and a position on the review was no longer merit or grade based.

There are African American men who had received their positions on the review based on grades before the rules were changed. But Obama is not one of them.

I think you hit the nail on the head, J

Afrocity – I don’t think so – I believe there are quite a few black people in Chicago who will not vote for him because of what he didn’t do for them when he was a State Senator – a lot of folks are pretty mad at him.
gxm – I too love both Hill and even though I don’t agree with her ideology, Sarah -they have a certain joie de vie that makes me want to just jump in and “get it done” whatever “it” happens to be

  264. If Bo gets elected and then is found to not be eligible, he would have to be impeached. That requires a vote by the House, followed by a hearing in the Senate.

Now, do you really think that Pelosi’s House, with even a larger majority, would go there?

That is why it would be a Constitutional Crises.
