Late Night: Lux perpetua

I saved this video for some reason.  It spoke to me, or, rather *sang* to me.   I think the music is from Mozart’s unfinished Requiem.  But the images of the waves crashing on the upright lighthouses was strangely stirring.

Let your little lights shine, PUMAs.  This too shall pass.

453 Responses

  1. Yes, that’s Mozart’s Requiem. But you can barely hear it over those waves! Pretty scary stuff!

  2. The only Mozart I know is “Rock me Amadeus”

  3. 2 on, 2 out, 2 balls, 2 strikes

  4. myiq: 1984? Mozart is thrilling to sing. His fugues are orgasmic.

  5. PUMA up, latch onto something its going to get rough in the last stretch and in the final waves… Good thing I can swim but lets get our life vests just in case….

I love lighthouses they hold such hope in the troubled times and guide us home and the fog horns are so mystical…

    …………………..

OK, just wanted to say I didn’t see this post before posting which appeared right after it. So, no pun intended is was purely coincidental. Lordi!

  7. NotYourSweetie,

That is a lot of money Obama is spending….$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!

  8. The Dallas Morning News announced on it’s blog that it will be endorsing McCain tomorrow. The reason given was because of his experience and known record of working across the aisle.

Well, good. But if it’s experience and working across the aisle they want, why in the heck did they endorse Obama over Hillary? At the time they said she was capable of “fixing the carburetor but they thought he should drive the car. ‘

If Hillary had been our nominee, they could not have worded their editorial the same way.

  9. Jeez, I thought this was a family blog. Even Captain Spaulding is blushing

  10. Two bits of news.

    1) BO has his own “Joe” who goes by the name of Joe Martinez and is doing robo-calls saying that BO’s tax plan works.

    2) BO has bought all the available ad spots in NC, SC, and GA so that there are none left for Mac to buy.

    3) Sarah Palin on SNL tonight. Watch.

  11. It just occurred to me that I haven’t watched an entire baseball game since the Giants lost the World Series.

    That’s been a little while.

  12. 2) BO has bought all the available ad spots in NC, SC, and GA so that there are none left for Mac to buy.

Good — cause NC, SC & GA are all going to McCain so BO is pouring $ down the drain with those spots.

  13. myiq: This isn’t the family hour. We don’t have to get pornographic but, jeez, can’t we acknowledge our libidos???

  14. The guy batting is named “Coco Crisp?”

  15. as a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard, from the days when the CG still had keepers in the old lighthouses, that video just gives me chills…

the power of Mother Ocean actually defines “awesome”….

  16. I’ve heard no one watches whole baseball games in CA. They always leave the stadium early, even if the pitcher is throwing a no hitter. LOL!

  17. Angie: Why is he spending money so stupidly when the DTs need the money? Why are Hillary and Bill doing all the fundraising for the Party that handed them their asses? Barack, where the fuck are you? You wrote a check for all the prominent Dems in the country and now it’s bouncing.

43% of ACORN registration in Houston proven fraudulent

  18. now, bb – not all of us in CA leave the game early!

  19. I’m sorry, 40%–so far!

  20. Riverdaughter, will you be a guest on my blog talk radio show tomorrow night?
    Signed
    Abigail Adams

  21. Regency — it is pretty clear to me that BO is all about BO — he doesn’t care about the DT nor anyone else & if you oppose him he will call you a r@cist and ruing your career — that’s how BO rolls. I actually think he is so over-confident at this point that he believes he can in fact win all 50 (or 57) states so he is spending in sure losers like NC, SC & GA (btw here in Charlote which is totally a “banking” town & all the banks support O, the McCain yard signs outnumber the BO signs 2 to 1 — I actually counted on my way to work). He literally is ordering the lobster & caviar for Nov. 4. Good, let him believe the press that it is “over” — makes an “upset” that much easier. I believe Hill & Bill are ensuring that no one can blame them when BO loses — Hill knew back during the primary that BO could not win the GE — nothing has happened to change that.

  22. I’ve stayed to the end of an extra-inning night game at Candlestick.

They gave you a medal for that – it was called the “Croix de Candlestick”

The ‘Stick was the worst baseball park ever built. It had different weather in different sections of the park

  23. Any one see Sarah on SNL yet?…what time is it?

  24. Don’t spoil it for us west coasters

  25. I saw a game at Candlestick Park once. It was so long ago that my sister was nearly run over by Willie Mays when we were all leaving the stadium.

  26. Did he say “Hey?”

  27. Regency,

I am shocked….43% of ACORN registration in Houston proven fraudulent

Did you post that info at We will not be silenced 2008 for the doc?

Did you watch Greta…she is awesome!

  28. Regency, How many fake voters does that make?

  29. Since we are acknowledging our libidos, let me acknowledge mine. Next Tuesday I am off to Paree to see Ze French Boyfriend for a week! Today I bought a strapless cocktail dress in a tiny size and heels that would make Diane Mantouvalos swoon. I’ll turn some heads in the City of Light!

  30. Regency: Because he’s selfish.

I have early voted for years in Nevada. I have never had to wait in a line. Never. I’ve arrived, went straight to the pollster, received my card, and went right over the empty poll booths to cast my votes.

Today was the first day for early voting, there was a line! Not just a couple people (which I would have considered a line), but dozens of people, I drove by one saying forget it, too many people, went to my regular place, that line was longer.

I didn’t vote today. I don’t know who they were voting for, I didn’t ask.

    I saw John!

  32. signing off with this – My Russian grandma (who nicknamed me Betuscha) used to say:
“every day is a good day when you’re among the living”.

  33. I’m all for vigorous voter registration but sloppy-cum-fraudulent signups mar the whole idea. It doesn’t serve the poor to do such a bad job of it that your efforts are discredited for years to come.

  34. Sarah looks like she kinda wants to kill Tina.

    ..

Well, I wanted to get my hands on Geraldo, he had Obama Girl doing Palin, sounding as it her nose had a clothing pin on it. Oh, I can’t stand that Obama prop!

  38. “Life’s not so bad when you consider the alternative”

  39. SNL! That was hilarious! Good for Alec for making fun of his own obnoxious comments about Palin. Eat crow Alec! Tina Fey really is a riot. I wish they’d given Palin more funny lines–she could’ve rocked it.

  40. i was hoping for more
    maybe she’ll have another skit

  41. More, Sarah, More Sarah…surely the clothing is worth a comment or two.

  42. WV: I just found out like right now. I have no idea how many of them have voted yet.

  43. Old Coastie,

Just kidding. That is the perception of a lot of Bostonians from watching Angels games on TV though.

  44. I just saw the Palin thing on SNL — will not spoil it for the West Coasters, but will say it wasn’t that funny.
NV swing voter — the lines for early voting in NC have been unusually long as well — that is good for McCain, right? I think low turn out helps BO. Anyone know for sure?

  45. angie – I’m sure his strategy is to win all 57 states – so won’t he be surpised when he learns he lost the last 7? 🙂

  46. Katiebird,

    How exciting. Willie Mays?

  47. 43% of ACORN registration in Houston proven fraudulent

Did you see the ACORN apologists on Greta saying that it was all just a Republican lie? Yea, one person registering 49 times is perfectly fine–not to mention the myriad of other complaints from multiple states. Rove must have been really busy planting all those bogus registrations.

Sorry myiq: I didn’t see your post until after I mentioned SNL–still, I didn’t give much away.

  48. angienc, i missed it, wonder now how it was.

  49. The Bosox pitcher is wearing knee socks

  50. Sarah wanted to kill most of the people she was standing next to. I believe it..

    SPOILER

    Matt Damon, MF-ers.

  51. Ugsome,

    Have fun!!!!!

  52. Has anyone gone to see “W” yet?

  53. Regency,

    They voted…the FAKE ones? SHOCK!

  54. angie: I thought it was funny, and I usually can’t stand their biased snark. It definitely could have had more punch, but I’m just glad she wasn’t blatantly misused.

  55. ugsome — Paris? I’m so jealous — I hate you!!

  56. Gee, I guess I’m not staying up to watch SNL

  57. fif — I thought they should have let her have more funny lines.

  58. ugsome: Make sure your take zee boyfriend to Sacre Coeur at sunset. Oo, la-la! It is beeeyoutiful. Also, Bercy Village is very special but your should take a native French speaker. It’s strictly for the natives.

  59. Tina Fey does an amazing Sarah Palin but I always know that it’s Tina because, as pretty as she is, Palin is so much prettier.
Take those glasses off, that lady is a super model.
That bone structure; that jaw line.
Anyhoo, good for Palin and good for Baldwin and SNL!

  60. bb — I haven’t seen W. yet but I want to.

  61. SOD: what show said that (about “sliding”)?

  62. maybe she’ll have an appearance on weekend update or something…. i mean… it wasn’t bad… just not that long…. imo

  63. angie: yea, I agree with that, as stated in my first post. She could have been very funny. She should have done the press conference herself.

  64. I’ve only been to Paris in the Spring time — how is the weather now? I think it must be pretty cold.

  65. WV: I don’t know if they voted. Probably did though.

Fif: It would have been funnier with more Tina to Sarah interaction. I loved Tina’s part at the beginning though.

  66. myiq2xu, on October 18th, 2008 at 11:41 pm Said:

Gee, I guess I’m not staying up to watch SNL

NO ONE GAVE THE PLOT AWAY, NOT EVEN THE SHOES…most important part for us gals. Besides we all know you don’t go to sleep early…you gave that one away a while ago.

  67. MyIQ & BB — He didn’t say anything. All us kids were milling around hoping to get an autograph (It was 1963 or 1964 — I wish I could remember…) And he barreled through in his car. I think he liked the idea of running over a bunch of kids.

  68. Abigail Adams: What time is your blogtalkradio show? I would like to do Matt’s My Two Cents but I’m usually asleep when it comes on.

  69. this obviously won’t cause America to fail, but it’s a fun ad campaign from those fine folks over at RealCaliforniaMilk.

    http://www.realcaliforniamilk.com/auditions/index.html

  70. I like Palin’s last line in that FOX article:
“Part of the problem is a dynamic can set in where your supporters begin to think it’s over, it’s done and that’s a self fulfilling prophecy,” she said.

  71. Katiebird,

LOL! I heard Willie was kind of nasty.

  72. BTW, there is an opening in my department for a position in France. The site is on the southern coast. On the Mediterranean. It’s a permanent position but I might be able to talk them into a 2 year ex-pat. Should I take it?

  73. It speaks well of Sarah that she was even willing to show up. I imagine it must have been uncomfortable to be around people who have been loudly condemning you in public. She didn’t have that sparkle. Who can blame her?

  74. 😉

I know bb… in fact, when I go to an Angels/Red Sox game, having Sox fans somewhere in the vicinity always makes the game that much more entertaining…

‘course, I like it much better when we beat you guys.

  75. SweetSue, I just posted the same thing on the last thread. Having Sarah appear, however briefly, right after Tina just showed that the resemblance isn’t all that striking. Tina is attractive and funny but she doesn’t have the Sarah sizzle. And, you’re right, Sarah’s much prettier.

Folks, do you thing Sarah is going to make another appearance or can I change the channel?

  76. RD — YES!!! If Obama wins….

  77. I’m struggling with allergies, and decided not to make myself nervous watching SNL. However, the Kid and hubby came downstairs to tell me Sarah was great, few lines but nice job.

  78. RD — take it with no conditions — no one knows what is going to happen 2 years from now — you may want to stay, you may want to transfer to somewhere else, etc. GO!

  79. riverdaughter,

    YES!

  80. I bet anything TF doesn’t like BO but she’s one of those lifetime Democrats and can’t imagine being anything else. She’s more anti-Mac than pro-BO.

  81. No… Tina Fey basically called out Palin on Letterman last night…. she said Palin was as smart as her, which isn’t good enough….

  82. Sarah’s done for tonight. Ya’ll are right, the resembleance isn’t nearly so striking. I never thought it was actually but I got why people did. The cheekbones, the glasses, attractiveness.

    SNL shoutout: Michelle MaBelle!

  83. angie: that last line was by Susan Estrich who is always exaggerating the demist of the GOP ticket, not Palin.

Do these “journalists” even do any research before posting something–seriously?

  84. Regency — I think you are right — Tina Fey was a Hillary supporter during the primary & I’m sure she is only voting “D” now because she doesn’t think she has a choice.

  85. demise

  86. Well, that’s a shame for Tina. But what does that say about BO?

  87. What did Alex Baldwin say about her? God….between the guy who dumped his gf on Oprah to the guy who was caught on tape freaking out on his daughter, you’d think these guys would want to stay way the hell out of it.

  88. BPD, what? Tina Fey said being smart isn’t good?

  89. RD,

Go for it, French men are soo sweet. Those little accents…instead of ‘the book’ its ‘zeee buuuk’… Besides you could explore Europe on the weekends or three day holidays. They have more holidays than we do here and besides, if Obama wins you may want to be in France away from it all.

  90. fif — that line wasn’t from Palin? well, it is true — people need to make sure they don’t buy into the haka & go out and vote.

  91. No… Tina Fey basically called out Palin on Letterman last night…. she said Palin was as smart as her, which isn’t good enough….

Oh really? I missed the part when Fey managed a state with an $11 billion budget and 29,000 employees? I didn’t realize she had a second career. More elitism.

  92. RD – you should definitely go for that!

    I’m out for the night.

  93. RD, Another YES vote. 🙂

  94. Alec just said that she was way hotter in person. Then he escorted her to the set where Tina was and brought her on stage.

  95. angie: very true. I think the McCain camp should be making that point emphatically at all their rallies, like Hillary did. “I NEED YOUR HELP!”

  96. Red Sox win. Game 7 next. The Sox have the big mo now.

  97. Night phred!

  98. McP: We need your help. If you still want me to fight for you, we need you to go to “JohnMcCain.com” and donate….

    Do it, John and Sarah.

  99. Help me out here folks. Tina was saying that she herself isn’t very bright?

  100. RD,

Selfishly, I hope you don’t go, but I wouldn’t blame you. What about the BFF though?

  101. Tina was saying that she isn’t smart enough to be Vice President and that means neither is SP.

  102. I can’t remember the exact words… but Tina was talking about how she was studying for her skits on Palin by looking at the Couric interviews on Youtube…. then she said something about how she got the impression that Palin was just as smart as she (TF) was…. meaning…. only an “average person” level of knowledge…. and then she said that just wasn’t good enough…. blah blah blah…. was pretty much a Palin roast on lettermen.

  103. Matt Bai’s article about Obama is interesting. Obama tries to correct his mistake in the “bitter” comments and ends up sounding just as condescending as he did the first time.

  104. fif, I agree. The “we’re in this together and I’ll fight for you till the end” spirit. I’m a sucker for that.

  105. Sarah Palin on SNL did great! Glad that she had the guts to do it!

I won’t give anymore away to our PUMA friends out West 🙂

Me thinks Vince Papali (Mark Wahlberg) will be voting McCain-Palin in November!

  106. sod — I agree with you, Sarah does a very good job of representing women & just like every attack on Hillary was an attack on all women, so is every attack on Sarah. Eff them — especially the women out there who don’t realize that if Sarah can be dismissed as nothing more then a c*nt, then so can we all.

  107. Oh, man I slept through the Palin skit. Was it good?

  108. Re: Tina Fey…see, this is the problem. Her “research” was the Couric interviews????? It’s an echo chamber folks. How about actually reading about Palin’s record in AK? Ugh.

I heard some nitwit on NPR saying, “from his reading, the negative attacks from the McCain campaign are not working.” His “reading material?” That day’s article in the NY Times claiming that was true. It’s Dick Cheney’s MO run amok.

  109. Dude, I totally got Mark Wahlberg confused with Matt Damon just now didn’t I?

  110. I just don’t understand why so many people are impressed with ticket punchers like Obama and not real intellect. Tina is quicker than Obama and she’s gonna vote for him? Well, I guess they’re both chuckleheads.

  111. Tina F. didn’t seem to have her normal energy tonight. She exited stage LEFT real quick 🙂

  112. If McCain-Palin wins on Nov 4….. I have to admit that the highlight of my LIFE might be watching Keith Olberman’s Countdown on Nov 5.

  113. Her accomplishments are incredible for her youth.

Do they forget and/or ignore that she is only 44 and the most popular governor in the country? It’s classism again. How can she be smart with that funny accent? Obama is smart because he talks purty.

  114. Regency — I was wondering what you were talking about when you wrote “Matt Damon” — yep, it was Mark Wahlberg.

  115. afrocity, on October 19th, 2008 at 12:06 am Said:

Oh, man I slept through the Palin skit. Was it good?

No worries, go to NQ, they are about to post it up on youtube until it gets removed. lol

  116. Tina F. didn’t seem to have her normal energy tonight. She exited stage LEFT real quick

I hope she feels embarrassed after trashing another woman for weeks, and then having to face her.

  117. Sarah sparkled, afrocity. She blew Tina away by doing nothing more than showing up and standing next to her so we could all see that Tina’s just a cheap imitation.

  118. I’m going to go make an Obama sandwich (bologna and swiss cheese).

I’ll also be using white bread.

I’m sure Obama and his Obots think that is being r*cist of me, huh? 🙂

  119. Palin’s IQ – saw on a blog that it’s 116, so if that’s true it’s nothing to sneeze at.

RD- go with no conditions. In case you haven’t been there before: you will love it. The people are friendly and warm, the bakeries begin offering fresh baked bread very early in the morning; lunches are not 5 minute fast food; people populate the squares in the evening and enjoy each others company; most other countires are but an hour to a few hours away by train, and the trains are unbelieveable; the best produce markets are in Nice (if you are that close); so are some of the most beautiful beaches and sunsets; if you want a few hours in a fairy tale kingdom Monte Carlo is close (foods not as great as Nice and nearby towns). If you have been there before then I’ve just listed a bunch of reasons to go back.

Have a huge marketing campaign to finish so I’m just able to check in once in a while…

  120. angienc: you’d hate me even more if you saw my handsome BF 🙂

  121. Thanks, woman voter.

I have bad news everyone. They “lost” my voter registration. Everyone in my house got theirs but me…The only one not voting for BO. They said I have till the 21st. I can 1) vote early or 2) take a chance and register and wait for another card.

Funny that I have been vocal about my support for McCain and Cook County looses my card.

  122. From a male’s perspective, I have to say that Tina Fey really, REALLY pales in comparison to Sarah Palin….. sorry if that’s sexist… just my opinion….

  123. I just saw Sarah on SNL and it was adorable.

  124. afrocity: I’d vote early and make sure. If you wait, it might be too late.

  125. RD: Hell Yes, take it. If I flee to Paree to be with Zee Boyfriend we can be Pumas Abroad. It’ll be like the 1920s all over again.

  126. I still love Tina Fey though.

  127. BPD, that’s not sexist, that’s sexual. Which is perfectly acceptable.

  128. fif, it would be nice if Tina feels ashamed of herself. Didn’t she write “Mean Girls”? You’d think she’d have some small shred of conscience.

  129. Iron Man, you forgot to put some arugula on that sandwich:

“Anybody gone into Whole Foods lately and see what they charge for arugula? I mean, they’re charging a lot of money for this stuff.” — Barack Obama

and top it off with some Chocolate Covered Kerry’s (obama)

  130. No, BPD. It’s not sexist. It’s simply the truth.

  131. Hey Afrocity, I’m an ex-Chicagoan myself. Dang, it must be hard to be the holdout in your community. You have my respect.

  132. afrocity — I agree with fif — vote early and make sure. “Lost your card” yeah, right!

  133. BPD:

Neither one holds a candle to the beer heiress.

  134. Yikes, afrocity. I sure hope none of your house mates “misplaced” it.

    😦
    Stop that.

  137. fif, I am just afraid that they will see it is for McCain and throw it out. I hate to sound paranoid but why me? I wonder if someone has a database and it has a list of “non compliant” Obots resisters like me. When your application comes through they toss it.

  138. littleisis: okay. Don’t mean to offend. Just had a little win and am funning on a Saturday night. Check upthread and you will see my libido has been sprung from its cage.

  139. SOD: I always use the stats to make it concrete: she manages an $11 billion budget with 29,000 employees, and apparently, does it quite well. She has also negotiated energy contracts with Russia, China and Canada. That’s after helping Wasilla to thrive, becoming the fourth largest city in the state. It’s because she is not from some fancy private school. If anything, it’s more of an accomplishment, because she had no special references to get her in the door–she built that career herself. Unlike someone else we know who has been carried all the way, with few accomplishments to show for it. It just amazes me that Obots are completely factually averse. They DO NOT want information. I got into an email exchange with a friend recently who fancies himself well-informed because he reads The Atlantic and The Nation. When I responded with a lot of detail re: Obama’s record and associations, he asked me not to talk about politics anymore, because he “thought he was reading from trustworthy sources, and my information was making him uncomfortable.” His response to his cognitive dissonace was NOT to research more, but to eliminate the conflict by refusing to take in new information. That’s why Obama has gotten this far by repeating “Hope” and “Change” for months.

  140. BTW – Mom’s been reading all the blogs and on the republican blogs she finds quite a few references to PUMA’s and they are respectful. They do read the PUMA blogs and have been educated on a number of things they were not aware f:

    Caucus fraud during primaries
    Primary fraud and intimidation
That some votes are worth less than others, literally. This concept does not make sense to them
the votes taken from Hillary and given to Obama

If nothing else comes out of all this except republicans actually looking more in depth at democratic values and platforms (in general not BO’s) and democrats doing the same without simply dismissing them out of hand, and the dialogue that seems to have begun continues – then maybe sincere, and true bi-partisan efforts will grow and parties will work together for the people of this nation, since they will recognize that that dialogue has already begun and grown among their constituents.

  141. ugsome — not “liberals” progressives. I’m a liberal.

  142. afrocity: I hate to say it, but I wouldn’t doubt it if you’re in Cook County. Did you ask them how long it would take for a new card to get through?

  143. angienc: let’s call ’em neoprogs. As much of a betrayal to progressivism as neocons were to conservatism.

  144. That some votes are worth less than others, literally. This concept does not make sense to them the votes taken from Hillary and given to Obama

It doesn’t make sense to anyone…

  145. “If McCain-Palin wins on Nov 4….. I have to admit that the highlight of my LIFE might be watching Keith Olberman’s Countdown on Nov 5.”

Their election night coverage is going to be amazing. I predict they’ll just go dark. The good thing about the polling data is that they won’t think to try and sneak guns into the building, otherwsie I’d predict a mass suicide.

  146. Ug: Zip that thing up! THer are children present.

I think Tina Fey did feel ashamed because you can’t look at Sarah Palin in person and not see the intelligence shining in that gaze. That’s natural and you can’t fake it. Yeah, I think she felt a little shame.

  147. ugsome — deal — neoprogs is a very apt description.

  148. sarah’s back!!

  149. I like Tina Fey littleisis but I don’t recall thinking Mean Girls was all that. And reading that she went on Letterman and trashed Palin as not being “smart” enough to be VP makes her a lot less likable in my eyes.

It’s one thing to satirize someone in a skit. It’s another to badmouth her. Palin is clearly smart enough to govern a state and IMO she’s brighter than Obama because she shows an ability for creative reasoning and not just rote learning. Frankly, Tina Fey is smarter than Obama too. She can write a book as well as a movie… by herself. JMHO of course.

  150. Sarah’s back!

  151. isis: I love Tina Fey too, but she has been publicly disrespectful to Palin, and I don’t care who it is–that’s wrong, and hurts all women.

  152. afrocity: I would not underestimate Cook County’s capacity for mind-boggling incompetence, quite apart from political skullduggery.

  153. Regency: she was on again??

  154. Well my aunt got her card 5 days after she applied. She and I walked to city hall together and gave it to the same person hers showed up and mine never did. They say 2 weeks. I called them and said my card never showed and right away they shoved the early voting thing.

    GO SARAH GO

  155. oh my lord this is awesome

  156. ugsome

Yep, as a Chicagoan…both could be true, but I’d pick skullduggery first.

  157. OMG: she is soooo cute!! She’s “raisin’ the roof.” I missed the first part, what was it?

  158. That was so awesome.

When I say Obama, you say Ayers.

    Obama!

    Obama!

    Ayers!

  159. I loved how she threw in the “you betcha” at the end LMAO

  160. “The Quick and the Dead” is on TNT

How can a movie with so many great actors be so bad?

  161. “Didn’t she write “Mean Girls”? You’d think she’d have some small shred of conscience.”

Tina’s a bit of a Mean Girl herself. She’s always trashing some of SNL’s female guests. Not that I’m a fan of Jessica Simpson or Paris Hilton (I irrationally love me some Brittany though), bu it just comes off as unnecessary high school cattiness, and Tina’s a lot older than they are.

    SHE’S BACK??? Regency, what’s happening!!!

fif, I know, but I’ve always had a good sense of humor. I should probably take it more seriously. SNL disrespected Hillary too, but she knew that it was a parody, and while they were mocking her, she stood ten feet away, laughing her ass off.

Sometimes laughing about something helps. I’m sure Tina Fey respects Palin, but sometimes we tease the ones we love most. At least I tease people I like…

  166. that skit was funny. Maybe its because I am from the South, but why the heck is it seen as so “ridiculous” that she hunts? Do neoprogs think their meat comes in cellophane? Furthermore, BO asked for Annie Oakley — he got her.

What keeps Obots from absorbing the truth is a substance called “stupid”

  169. SOD: She was just at the end but it was so awesome. She was also in the first 5 minutes of the show for anyone who didn’t know.

  170. isis: I’m not talking about Fey’s skits–I’m talking about her public comments about Palin. She is looked up to by a lot of young girls, and if she disrespects Palin as a woman, it gives others’ permission to do the same thing. She should do as HRC does, “I don’t agree with her policies, but she’s a strong and successful woman.”

  171. SNL is doing some “fart face” skit now. Stupid.

  172. afrocity,

Gee, I hope your ballot is found.

  173. Okay guys I had to get myself together I thought the skit was awesome.

  174. Nite…I am of to count zzzzz’s

  175. SOD: Why are they always picking these venues where people are turned away? I never understand that. I know someone who drove up to Dover, NH and couldn’t get in either. They know 20+K are showing up for her rallies, why not accommodate them? They can’t afford to be turning anyone away at this point.

  176. fif said, “It’s because she is not from some fancy private school.”

The separated-from Obot spouse is a textbook example of a Whole Foods Nation neoprog douche who thinks he his teh smrt because he want to pricey private schools. My high school was larger than his college, and I did two years at No-Name Midwestern U….where I learned to speak French fluently, became a skilled artist, and got the chance to study abroad. You bet your sweet ass I don’t let him Go There re: Palin’s education.

I am beginning to hate class prejudice more desperately than racism or homophobia (though sexism is closely tied.) I have known many working-class autodidacts with more sprightly, knowledgable, creative minds than Ivy League educated folks, and I’m sure you all do too.

  181. They trash her and then have her introduce the show?

  182. Night WV!

  183. AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Who the fuck needs a horror movie?

    Just read this:

A persistent question for Obama is how to make the most of Hillary Clinton’s talents in government after she has helped to swing women and blue-collar workers behind him. Last week the New York senator put her chances of running again for president at “probably close to zero”, leaving just a little wiggle room in case Obama loses in a fortnight’s time and there is a vacancy.

Clinton added: “There’s an old saying: bloom where you’re planted.” In the event of an Obama victory, she hopes to inherit the mantle of lion of the Senate from Edward Kennedy and steer universal healthcare legislation through Congress.

However, members of Obama’s inner circle believe she would be tempted to accept an offer to become health secretary, which would give her the historic opportunity to devise and implement the policy. “That’s very possible. Senator Clinton would be terrific as health secretary,” said Congressman Patrick Murphy, a leading Obama supporter.

Hillary Clinton at HHS? What, they didn’t have anybody to watch the janitorial staff?

If she takes that instead of staying in the Senate, I’ll sue her for my vote she got in the primary.

Fuck it, I think I’m going to bed.

  187. isis: yea, she said that she would tell her friends that she was voting for Obama, and then would privately vote for McCain.

Yuck. Right now they are running a McCain ad on SNL: the entire ad was pictures of McCain with Bush, and the repeated quote, “He voted with Bush 90% of the time.” But Obama doesn’t think that associations are fair game or use negative campaigning right?

  194. MABlue: HHS is a nice girly job for Hillary. :puke:

  200. fif

It’s in the FOX headline about Sarah’s SNL appearance:

    http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/18/palin-looks-laugh-snl-appearance/

  201. Are the registrations intentional fraud or extremely sloppy work performed by marginally motivated people under great pressure for little or no pay?

If the latter, it is not nefarious per se but discredits the whole notion of empowering people through voter registration drives. I should think people truly interested in widening participation in the political process would be more careful.

  202. myiq —

“Stupid” is the secret ingredient in Kool-aid

I don’t think it is all that secret.

  203. “Hillary Clinton at HHS? What, they didn’t have anybody to watch the janitorial staff?”

LOL, they think they’re being flattering, their first thought was “Chief Lady to Sew on Buttons.”

“owned by a state senator who has been trying to take away women’s rights here in Texas since he go into office”

I thought Obama was an only child.

  208. Time for the Obama Quote of the evening:

“The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn’t. But she is a typical white person…” — Barack Obama

    Barack Obama…The great unifier

  209. angienc: oh I get the insults too. Obot spouse asked in a voice dripping with condescension and presumption, “Were you as insulted as I was by the obvious pander [of McCain’s picking Palin]”?

I answered dryly, “As a matter of fact, no. It is nice to be asked for my vote politely instead of having it beaten out of me with the unity stick.”

The conversation went downhill from there. Let’s just say people were turning heads at the restaurant to see who was swearing her fool head off.

  210. Michelle,

Our’s is a place for those who will not be voting for Obama. After looking at your blog or the one you link to, it seems you are quite pro-Obama.

    Regarding the fraud in Texas:

“Back in August, the Houston Chronicle reported about a “flurry of ACORN activity” in Harris County (Houston).

A few short months later, Texas Watchdog reports that there are more than 4000 dead voters on the voter registration roles in Harris county. Some of whom managed to actually cast a vote from the grave:

Linda Kay Hill, a homemaker and Louisiana native, died Aug. 2, 2006, of a heart attack, her husband recalled, and is buried at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland. But Harris County voter records indicate she –- or someone using her identity –- cast a ballot in the November election that year. Linda Hill of Woodwick Street voted in person on Election Day, records show.

How widespread is ACORN’s voter fraud conspiracy (don’t act like Obama, who helped train ACORN organizers back in his community agitator days, doesn’t know what’s going on)?

Wide enough to ensure that however many extra votes Obama needs to win the election, they’ll be able to manufacture them.

  211. Regency — Tina Fey has said some terrible things about other women in interviews — for example she has really trashed Paris Hilton — I’m not a big fan of Paris Hilton but I don’t think it is good for women to trash other women like that.

  212. That one has been up there since early today. Yup, I didn’t think they were going to get on after Tina said to help her so that she could retire her?!? Shock…I guess she meant for people to vote for Obama.

  213. I have known many working-class autodidacts with more sprightly, knowledgable, creative minds than Ivy League educated folks, and I’m sure you all do too.

ugsome: I am one of those private school, Ivy League educated people, and I can tell you from experience, Obama drips with the elitism that is indoctrinated into people in these schools. SOME people. I’m from a small rural town, so it was foreign and distasteful to me. Instead of aspiring to it, like Obama does, the arrogance and pretension repelled me–and it still does. I have hunting, religious, blue-collar relatives in Western, PA (you know, rac*st territory), and they are talented, skilled, loving, and smart people with respect for others. There is something very narrow about people who live in that rarefied world. That’s why I really like Palin. She’s truly authentic. Obama is such a slick, empty phony, like some insecure kid who really wants to fit in. Hence, lobster and caviar at the Waldorf. There’s nothing wrong with living a good life if you are so fortunate, but look at what people like Hillary & BIll, and Cindy McCain do with their wealth, compared to Obama, who didn’t even donate to charity until he decided it needed to be part of his resume. This idea that some people are “special” and “superior” because of certain talents–including movie stars–is childish. We are all part of the human family, and everyone has something unique to offer. BTW: I returned to that small, rural town to live. I find the quality of life and the people are more to my liking 🙂

  214. LI: Me thinks yes but she knows it would be unpopular so this is her ass covered. She said she didn’t think SP was necessarily smart enough for the Vice Presidency. She didn’t say anything about John as far as I know.

  215. angie, I don’t think they are intentionally trying to insult your intelligence. I think they really believe they are doing the right and “smart” thing. Many Obama supporters really believe that Obama voted against AUMF, as if he were actually in the Senate at the time.

  216. stateof disbelief, thanks. But if you guys don’t hear from me ifor more than three days check your local papers for the missing black chic…better yet FOX news would be a better bet.

  224. Oh dear…so many people I used to like and respect. Now, not so much. Some a whole lot less.

  225. I wish some Obots would get in my face. But for some reason they pick on easier targets.

  226. michelle — god your dumb — can’t you take a hint? we don’t buy your bs WORM — you don’t even know that Harris County is Houston, for crying out loud.

  227. michelle
There is that little problem of intent. that aside, perhaps the dead people think they fell off the role…..

  228. Adele is a wonderful singer. I love her songs “Chasing Pavements.”

  229. I have extensive experience doing voter registrations. Many times people are not sure if they are registered in their current location in which case you ALWAYS get them to register again, just to be sure. There is nothing sinister about that and it is never a problem if they register twice. This should be considered completely different from registering under false names.

  230. Angienc is right. Harris County, yep its Houston. I lived there. They lost my mom’s body last year when she died.

  231. myiq — you are so right — the Obots only pick on women because they are effing wusses & intimidating women makes them feel like “men.”

I can still like a celebrity if they support Obama. Margaret Cho for example. I think she is hilarious about certain things, though I am disgusted over the things she has said about Palin. My uncle who recently passed away was a blue-collar, Virginia redneck and I will greatly miss his wonderful letters. He had a way with words that was at once simple, startling and profoundly moving. And he was just a good ol’ boy, but damn he could write pretty.

  261. “the Obots only pick on women”

I think it’s a mistake to have any list because someone supported ANY candidate that wasn’t a David Duke type. Being on the receiving end of hate for supporting Hillary has been eye opening. It’s waste to hate someone because who they support. And for the record, we are all fallible and prone to error. I would hope people didn’t hate me because I made a mistake.

Sometimes, when I have a moment away from my rage and disgust for Obama (which doesn’t happen often unfortunately), I feel a deep sadness about not being able to vote for the first African American president. I would love to be supportive of that historical and crucial breakthrough. Then I get angry again, because we have been put in this untenable situation by the DNC. I’m so sorry that happened, afrocity. That is just insane.

  275. afrocity — I am really sorry about your mom & really sorry you had to deal with that b.s. redtape at a time like that.

  277. Afrocity

I read somewhere today that for African Americans who have decided not to vote for Obama the situation is multiples more difficult. Things that have happened to a friend of one of my kids bears this out. This person has been a republican for years and began working for the republican party while in high school. This person has deleted anything that could associate this person with the republican party off of his facebook. I magine getting death threats when you’re 20; having you car keyed, your family insulted etc.

    It shouldn’t be this way.

  278. Joe the Plumber will beat their ass will a lug wrench. Or stuff a roto-rooter down their throat to clear the kool-aide residue that’s clogging their intestines and making them regurgitated absolute bull*(&*.

Or not, because he’s a nice guy.

  279. The backdraft from Michelle’s Obot diaper reeks. I can’t stand it anymore.

  280. Oh puhleeeze. Will someone please give michelle a shot of kool-aid and show her the exit.

wonder what “Michelle’s” last name is

  284. Obama would just LOVE to shut Hill up at HHS. She needs to be at the Senate, if not the White House. He wants to put her where he doesn’t have to deal with her…a job at the HHS ain’t a plum, it’s a jail cell. Luckily Hil can just stay in her Senate seat till the voters ( remember them? ) tell her other wise. Also Obama never delivers on a happy promise. Only the promise of harm if you don’t obey. That is the Barry promise you can believe in!

  285. The eye-rolls, snorts and derisive laughter over Palin make me crazy. Self-styled progressives did the same thing to Reagan and both Bushes and it sure went a long way towards keeping them out of office, didn’t it? I see Sarah on TV, I recognize that raw political talent, I see that steamroller coming down the pike AGAIN and what do liberals do? They laugh and call her dumb. Don’t they learn anything?

  286. angiec

Let me qualify that LOL- re: your myiq comment

  287. LI: I really don’t know. Check again in an hour. They said to go there to watch it again.

I just realized that I didn’t post anything for the grande anniversary. I’m so ashamed. Well, that just means I’ll have to go all out for Hillary’s birthday, which is exactly a week away! Hopefully they leave her the hell alone on her special day.

  288. Michelle offers us a fauxgressive trope – Republicans only pretend to care about vote fraud because they don’t want poor (non-white) people to vote.

This trope is used to delegitimize one party.

  289. And that’s the end of Michelle.

  290. “No, they don’t want to have anything encourage people to vote.”

God forbid if they should have to vote because it’s their civic duty -flu shots.

  301. Well, You know what MyIQ always says….
we need some of this to clear the air from that visit!

  302. Angie: It did in the primary because so many times HRC had been counted out that mostly it was her folks who would stay home. Now because his victory has been “assured” it’s likely to be the Reps who come to play and his guys who stay home. Low turnout does not help him, I think. His demos usually stay home.

But I could definitely be wrong.

  305. Michelle, I hear you, but maybe people would take you a little more seriously had you all along been concerned with the hijacking of the vote by Obama’s thugs in the caucuses and the theft of people’s votes in MI, which were stolen from Hillary and simply handed over to a man not even on the ballot.

  309. Regency — the reason I ask is because turnout has been really high here in NC since they started early voting this Friday. And let me just say this — what kind of bs is this early voting? I understand absentee ballots because people might be out of town on Nov. 4 but it should just be voting on the one day, imo.

  310. Angienc,

I notice that Obots like to emphasize the polls. They want us to be discouraged and not vote. We have to fight. Obama is not blowing McCain away in the polls, so the Obots are still on high alert. They want to tar and feather Joe the Plumber and anyone else who takes attention away from THE ONE. You think this will stop when he gets in office. Oh no. This is OBOT NATION.

  311. SOD: Did you see that handwriting analysis they did on her, BO, and Mac when she was still in the race. It talked about how it was a sign of her compassion and attention to detail. It suited her to a tee.

  312. angie, I think it depends. Usually, high turnout favors Democrats and low turnout favors Republicans because they’re more reliable voters. But his year is so strange.

  313. myiq2xu — but what puzzles me is that people I previously liked/loved and respected, who were/are smart critical thinkers have been overtakenIt’s the most puzzling . I’ve ever witnessed and I think I’m going to need major surgery to cure this ulcer I’m developing.

  314. Here’s Sarah!

You should be able to see everything there from tonight’s SNL.

  315. afrocity — that is why I can’t stand BO — since when are we the people not allowed to question a politician? This country was started so that we could criticize our leaders. The fawning over BO is downright scary.

  329. Also why vote early before the debates have aired? What if the candidate pulls an “Edwards” ? You decide that you don’t want to vote for this guy who cheats on his wife. You can’t do anything. You voted already.

I did early voting once for Clinton way back in 92′. I was in college. Jesse Jackson came and picked us up in a bus and fed us barbecue and watermelon and took us to the ballot box.
I was young and stupid.I would never do it again.

  330. “BUT are these OBOTS to the left? Are these OBOTS democrats?”

My Obot father is not and has never been a Democrat, and he’s sunding more and more like a Republican every day. Scary things happen to people who start supporting Obama.

I’ve never gotten that close so much envy from me. It has been real. She’s the reason I stick around. She’s just such an amazing presence that’s underestimatd by nearly everyone in the media. She made my life th eone night I got to be even slightly close to her.

  338. myiq — I don’t know if Michelle Obama has an adam’s apple, but she does have an unfortunate overbite.

    Another Hill-o-holic here.

Hillary likes holding kids. There was a little girl crying at the rally, I remember, because, it was scary, all the commotion. And Hillary scooped her up in her arms. It was adorable. Governor Ted Strickland was there and he is my Governor. I remember I think he snapped a picature for the girl’s mom.

  349. MO looks like it hurts her to smile

  350. You guys crack me up. Yes there was barbecue chicken and brisket too. Texas you know. What can I say. I guess I drank Kool Aid for Bill Clinton. Sometimes I wonder if this is payback for my behavior in the 90’s. I look at the young Obots and think was i really like this back then?

I don’t judge michelle for her looks or how she dresses. I don’t judge her at all, but she has a very nasty personality. She just seems to be a very unkind person. The people at Hillbuzz say they have met her, because they live in Chicago, and they say she is pretty mean in person too.

    But who knows?

  352. afrocity — Bill Clinton never encouraged misogyny nor death threats toward “un-believers” so no, you did not act like Obots back then.

  354. Regency you know that I was baffled when Texans ate so much watermelon.

Oh my god I am watching the Huckabee show and he is showing how people are trained for the spin room.

  355. myiq & afrocity — I love watermelon, fried chicken & bbq too — heck, I love collard greens. The reason black cuisine is called “soul food” is because it is so dang good!

  356. Can you say delusion???

  357. afrocity — Huckabee? be careful — don’t go over the edge.

  358. Yes, we’re so enthralled with whatever the MSM has to say….NOT.

  359. LI: Oh I know she has a nasty personality. It f-ing shines through! What sucks is that there was exactly one picture ever where I thought she was beautiful but she opened her mouth and she’s gotten uglier ever since.

Hillary on the other hand has just gotten more beautiful to me. Me=addicted like a meth head. I like her chipmunk cheeks (because I have them), her eyes, her nose, her smile, her hair. I love her laugh and her voice, her slender shoulders and her petite hands. I adore her chunky jewelry and her low heels. I f-ing worship at the altar of her pantsuits. I am crushing like a groupie.

  360. Angienc, and there was never any Ayers or Wright either. Had Monica been on the scene in 92′ I never would have voted for Clinton. In the case of the Obamabots, you could tell them that Obama was running a white slavery ring in Malaysia and they would still ask him to autograph their pug’s ass.

  361. ” I look at the young Obots and think was i really like this back then?”

Unless you took some lady’s walker and whacked her over the head with it, probably not. 🙂

  363. Mmm angienc, I can cook some greens. i bet Obama would say oh you mean arugula?

Joe the Plumber is on Huckabee now.

  364. myiq and Afrocity: as a white lifelong Chicagoan I took a bath in African-American culture. My dad, a music professor, carefully researched and put together the first Black American Music curriculum at the college where he taught. He taught me that it’s a big world and we can learn to love, respect and learn from each other.

I’ve decided that my political philosophy is grounded on money, love and fun. Expand the economy so that everyone can earn a living; knock down the barriers to love; and all have fun together. Americans as diverse as Bill Clinton and Malcom X knew this. It’s the key to our survival as the world’s most diverse nation.

  365. afrocity — no kidding — in fact Obots would explain how running a white slavery ring in Malaysia shows how wonderful he is helping commerce in a country that needs it.

  366. afrocity: gimme a ring when the greens are served. I love greens.

  367. I think the stereotype started when southern blacks moved north to work in the industrial cities. They brought standard southern cooking with them.

When I saw Hillary, she signed my Living History hardback “Hillary Rodham Clinton” — so beautifully, not rushed, even though she was going down the line signing. Her ability to convey a warm personal touch even in such a small way resonates.

When I saw Hillary, she signed my Living History hardback “Hillary Rodham Clinton” — so beautifully, not rushed, even though she was going down the line signing. Her ability to convey a warm personal touch even in such a small way resonates.

I went with my best friend to see Hillary back in that awful month in February. We got pretty close to her, but I almost fainted, and besides that, there were middle aged men knocking the wind out of us, shoving us away, trying to get a piece of that Hillary pie.
It was like a Hillary Mosh Pit, and even then she was so cheerful. I made eye contact with her once and held it, and she cocked her head at me (I may have accidentally said in astonishment, “Her head is big…” to the bff.) before I was knocked over by several small children.
The bff turned to me and said, “Do you have anything for her to sign?” And I replied, “Dammit… No. I didn’t think we would get this close. I haven’t got her book with me. But their’s always my boob…”
I couldn’t get any nearer to Hillary, but I managed to bug one of her secret service agents. Shortly afterward, it was such pandemonium that she beamed and waved and yelled, “I love you all! Bye!” Because there were old women grabbing her legs and trying to pull her down from the stage.
And a girl next to me said, “Thanks Hillary, it’s been real.”
It was my very first political rally, and I was still seventeen at the time.

  407. Night, Afrocity.

    I’m gonna head out too.

    Good night, every0one.

That is my favorite paraphrase too. And so obviously true. Have you seen pictures of Bill when he was young??? I mean, daaammmnnnnn.

It is like this friend of mine, she is engaged to this guy. She thinks he is so gorgeous, she wants to jump him all of the time. She said when she first met him, she would just sit there and watch his mouth move when he talked and nod in a daze. For some reason, she gets really turned on when he talks about geeky stuff, like computers and video games.

One time, he had just won a new Desktop from one of his stargate forums, and he was describing it to her and going over all of the megapixels and the memory ports and other geeky stuff, and she told me it turned her on so much, she just leaped on him and pinned him to her bed and said, “If you don’t stop talking like that, then rape is imminent.”
And he grinned and said, “You can’t rape the willing.”

And then as she was describing what they ah… “did” afterwards, she became all dazed and said, “And then… he put his cable into my ubs port.”

I always thought it was just like that with a couple like Hill and Bill. Only our Pantsuity wife would say, “And then… he put his ballot into my box…”

    Or something of that nature.
She describing this one time to me, when

Because that first ballot was spoiled, he totally had to put his ballot in there again, again, and again to make sure his vote went through. Then, the votes were counted and the winner was Chelsea Victoria Clinton in the election of 1980.

  411. If Bill needs another box to stuff, mine is totally free. I’m a brand new polling place, open for business.

*tapes signs to stomach* Yoo-hoo, Bill! Early voting starts here.

  413. On that note, I’m actually gonna sleep now. Good night, lingerers.

  414. I don’t know if you scrolled down at my blog, but there is a post titled “A Glimpse of What Could Be.” with a picture I took of Hillary at one of her rallies. Her inner beauty shines through in this picture and is one of my personal favorites.

Oh gosh. She is just so pretty. And Chelsea looks almost exactly like her.

I could do without the leopard print though.
But that is exactly how I remember she was at the rally. She was just so unreal.

Okay, you rock my world for that. Her head is kind of plus-sized, but she’s got an above-average brain sloshing round in their so it’s warranted.
I’ve never gotten that close so much envy from me. It has been real. She’s the reason I stick around. She’s just such an amazing presence that’s underestimatd by nearly everyone in the media. She made my life th eone night I got to be even slightly close to her.

I didn’t get a chance to shake her hand or anything that night. I didn’t get a chance to have her sign anything, but on the way home I made an oath and spoke it out loud to the bff:

One day, I will see Hillary Clinton up close and personal. One day, I will meet her face to face. I will shake her hand, and I will tell her that her head, while above average in size, is just gorgeous.

And when Little Isis makes an oath, she must keep it. She has binded herself to fate.

  415. “One time, he had just won a new Desktop from one of his stargate forums”

That’s by far the best part of that story. 🙂

    REGENCY IS MY HERO!!!!
Is it possible for Bill to vote for two candidates???
Because my BALLOT BOX is open as well.

And besides, there were so many elections afterwards, Bill had to cast his votes MANY MANY more times.

  421. Okay, I am REALLY going to bed now!!!

  422. …the obots are probably tucked in bed after a long night of swilling obama juice at obama ice cream socials and ardent discussions on the post-contemporary semiotics for an ontic topology of political spaces [both in constructivist and non-constructivist parlance]……………………………

Obama bless the inebriated uber-mensch, sticks and all!

  423. Okay, I’ll take over watch with Seriously now. Angie lasted a long time tonight – must be all the libido talk up thread.

  424. Hey afrocity. A big shout-out from one Chicagoan to another. I lived all over Chicago, north and south side. My last address in CHI before moving to CA was exactly 1/2 block from the Senator. I had to elbow my way past media to vote on the day he was elected because he was there at the same time. Over my lifetime I have voted for, contributed to, and/or worked for Harold Washington, Jesse Jackson Jr, Carole Moseley-Braun and Sen. Obama, so the “r@cist” charge doesn’t stick with me.

High-five, girlfriend. It’s a big world and we are gonna make it a better one.

  425. Gawd, that Regency is so naughty.

  426. Not just Regency, Britannia. Have you read this whole thread?

  427. scrubs, yep, I read pretty much all of it. 😉 This blog can be quite entertaining, that’s why obots like to silently lurk around here. Not what one would expect from bitter deadenders.

  428. oh!!! nice blog

  429. 🙂

How do you make that big laughy face? That’s actually how I felt when I read about us bitter deadenders.

On another note: my cousin down in Melbourne is a journalist and has been following the American Presidential season. She is ashamed of her own kind – can’t believe the crappy journalism going on in the States. I have to sadly agree with her.

  430. Wow! People are still awake!

Here’s another cry of r @ cism. Origin: Alaska. Palin can do no right it seems.

  431. She is ashamed of her own kind – can’t believe the crappy journalism going on in the States.

Wow, it’s that obvious, huh? Well, I am glad your cousin recognizes it for what it is. Her education did not go to waste.

  432. Well, I don’t know about Australia, but the BBC hasn’t done much better. We’re rubbing off on them, we’re ruining 2 countries! lol

  433. I honestly believe the koolaid has been sipped over the entire world BUT, just as there are PUMAs, there are also sensible foreigners (for lack of a better word) who see through things. My cousin’s son is a MAJOR Obama supporter, no matter what I say. It’s friggin’ bizarre.

  434. I listened to some of the BBC coverage during the RNC, and they were basically like, “let’s go find some of the scary gun toting rednecks who believe in witches to talk to!” There are just as many uber conservatives and evangelicals in Britain, but they have to act like we’re so strange. I don’t think it’s so much Obama they like, they can see he’s an emoty suit, as they love to act like we’re soooo backward.

  435. Well, I found the Obama supporter night shift: over at Fox posting crap about McCain on the blog about McCain’s anger over the NY Times bullshit attempt at journalism regarding Cindy McCain.

I left the NYT ages ago when I saw that they endorsed Hillary but did everything in their power to undermine her candidacy.

Maybe the bots are afraid to come over here at night these days. Seriously, Britannia and I are holding down the fort too well.

  436. Grrrrrr. Reading the transcript of the SNL appearance by Palin, I’m getting pretty pissed off all over again. Was it really as bad as it read?

  437. I didn’t see it, but Regency and Little isis liked the part in the middle wheer she came out again, I think.

  438. The NYT is a lifestyle magazine. Nothing more.

  439. Hey ugsome is still awake! Getting used to the time change before you see that lovely French fellow?

Agree with your assessment of the NYT.

  440. Yeah, they’ve got people like Wonkette and Julie Powell writing for them. They’re still a serious newspaper. 🙂 Like everybody else, the Times is trying to be all postmodern hipster.

  441. Fox just had the head of ACORN in Ohio on, and she was railing against Republicans, saying they don’t want people to vote. She may very well be right about that, however, it makes her organization look shady, they’re supposed to be about voting but they’re extremely partisan. It makes people wonder what happens to Republican registrations.

  442. Yeah, I know. The concept of ACORN is a good one but it has gotten all out of control in a very Chicago-style-politics kind of way. I remember getting so pissed off in the last Presidential election and saying out loud, “why aren’t the Dems doing stuff like this?” (regarding the Ohio fiasco) Now, the Dems are participating and I am utterly disgusted.

  443. Yeah, we wanted them to stand up to stuff like this, the swiftboating, the vote suppression. We didn’t want to do it ourselves! gah!

  444. And it also makes it look that much more outrageous that we’re funneling them $800,000 of taxpayer money when they come right out and say, “We battle Republicans, we hate them, we’re against them.” Use your damn heads and get some political sense or at least learn about PR and “thoughts we share” vs. “thoughts we keep inside.” You can say that you want people to vote without saying Republicans suck. Republicans are going to go to the mat on this, and they’ve given them all the ammunition they need.

  445. On Fox News someone, a contributor by the name of Fr. Morris just said that the “Bradley Effect” was not that everyone is a closeted racist but that they’re afraid of being called racists for not voting BO. He said that the campaign had been encountering people all over the country who usually put up signs in their yards giving the canvassers a wink and a nod for support but refusing to put up signs out of fear of reprisal.

  447. ugsome – I like “neoprogs” – the counterpart of neocons. I think I’ll use it – when B0bots seems too narrow.

  448. scrubs57
While I was frustrated by the Dems lack of courage through the years, I never said “why don’t they do things like this”, nor did I wish for our own karl Rove or Rush Limbaugh. So, at least, I can rest easy at the “be careful what you wish” thought.
Courage they still don’t have – they are just bullies now, like GOP-ers used to, only reaching new hights of outrageousness.

  449. Response to messages between 1:55 am and 2:20 am

It’s true. Much of Hyde Park crowd (around UC) doesn’t find her very kind or compassionate.

She has a personal Chicago designer doing her clothes and dresses – there was a local feature on that last year.

    Myiq at 1:30

Yes, exactly. The interesting thing is that when democrats were behaving very badly (trying to prevent the vote down south by minorities and non-british voters; getting involved in wars they shouldn’t) they did not get that same treatment.

I’m hoping things will change now, and that a congress more willing to entertain bi-partisan efforts will be able to do more for the people.

  450. let me get this straight. The financial markets are crashing, this is the worst economic crisis since the great depression, BUT 600,000 people still manage to scrape together enough money to contribute 150 million dollars to Obama? I don’t believe it. I’ve been saying since the primaries that this is the big story of this election. something dirty is going on.

Unraveling the forces that want Obama so badly will take time, and as usual with our politics will come too late. Nothing will be done. We can point fingers, but………

Sorry to be so negative. I do believe that we can make a difference in restoring democracy, but it will take a long time. At least we have each other.
