Post Debate Summary

It sounds like Obama got his ass handed to him. What do you think? And what were the night’s most memorable lines?

Here is a handy pundit pocket guide to scoring the debate:

  • Pundits say tie= McCain won
  • Pundits say Obama won= debate was a tie
  • Pundits say McCain won= you were watching a different debate

685 Responses

  1. First?
Three votes. So far McCain wins.

  2. I love Cindy. Where’s Hillary?>

  3. Lemming, who, me?

  4. Memorable, MCain:
“If you wanted to run against George Bush, you should have done that four years ago.”

    Great Comment!!!
    McCain/Palin08

  5. McCain won hands down….

  6. Any HRC sightings?

  7. McCain did well, but it won’t matter.

  8. McCain easily won the debate. Who knows how the MSM will explain that really Obama won it going away. I’m so angry at the media I could bite nails!

  9. Kat5 – you are not alone! The Lemming Support Group is now in session

  10. McCain handed Obama his a$$. But BBC is calling it a draw. Geesh. That must mean that the MSM is saying BO won. It’s a crazy world when only FOX gets it right. At least I’m assuming they’ll at least give John McCain his due.

  11. From previous thread, I wrote:

What I like is that McCain humbly ASKS for our vote
    while Obama DEMANDS our vote.

  12. Does Fiji admit lemmings, anyone know?

  13. McCain kicked Obama’s *ss. The door is wide open on Ayers and ACORN. Obama did not answer those questions at all. Why $800,000 to ACORN if you’re not involved with the organization? Why was the declared purpose for “get out the vote” activities?

    Tomorrow comes the tsunami.

  14. Fox thinks McCain lost. I’m shutting it off.

  15. What? Even FOX is drinking kool-aid?

Well, at least BBC called it a draw.

  16. Any Hillary sightings?
I’m not watching, so alert me if you see them!!!

  17. I haven’t seen Hillary and now I care very little. Spin doesn’t interest me so I’m going to go find some innocuous television to watch. Why are you watching this stuff, you already know what they’re going to say.

  18. Joe the Plumber is going to win the election for McCain.

  19. Fox??? That makes NO sense at all.

  20. I second CarlyinNJ’s choice of best line tonight:
“If you wanted to run against George Bush, you should have done that four years ago”

  21. Hope Fiji is big on accepting immigrants!

  22. madamab,

McCain should have brought up Rev. Wright and Rezko. I hope the RNC hammer him on his friends for the next three weeks. I heard some sermons from Wright today that I hadn’t heard before. They were horrible. They should be playing those in ads.

  23. I agree about the best line of the night. Although I liked McCain’s snark about the voucher programs.

  24. I do NOT believe that noone in the Fox focus group was leaning towards Obama.

  25. Obama sounded like John Kerry except John Kerry is smarter.

  26. BB – Where did you hear the new Wright sermons? As if the “old” ones weren’t bad enough!

  27. Who on FOX said BO won? I was on the wrong channel.

  28. Well, I say McCain wins. If, even now they are saying BO is the winner, then they have no credibility anyway.

  29. As I said in the previous, Obama didn’t go under the table and refused to come out, he didn’t dry-hump McCain or Shieffer, so HE WON!

    That’s it.

  30. The best line was running against Bush 4 years ago.

  31. BB: McC is damned if he does (bring up BO’s baggage), damned if he doesn’t (bring up BO’s baggage). In the former case, he’s ‘crossed a line’. In the latter, he’s ‘pulled his punches’.

  32. Those Luntz surveys are bogus

That is precisely why I won’t watch.
    Sigh…

  34. LOL, MABlue.

  35. TV focus groups…

remember how BO stacked the caucuses in TX?

  36. I don’t care what the polls says, this election is still a toss-up. I believe a lot of people won’t really make up their minds until they enter the voting booth.

My favorite debate line was when McCain told Obama that if he wanted to run against Bush he should have run in 2004.

Not being in a swing state, I’ll be skipping the presidential race and just vote for down-ballot Democrats.

  37. The Luntz surveys have ALWAYS been bogus, whether they were for us or against us.

  38. Undecided voters MY ASS

  39. Texas IS a swing state, Linda. Well, if you like to dance.

  40. I missed that Bush/4 years ago line!!!!!!

  41. One Luntz guy said “Obama won the debate but I still don’t trust him. I won’t vote for him” LOL

  42. Hee hee hee SOD!

You know what would really be amazing? If my poor ol’ Orioles won the ACS. Lord have mercy, they stink to high heaven.

  43. So is the team where I live going to the series (Rays or the team where I was born (Sox)?

  44. Senator Government!

    I’m still laughing.

  45. Rachael Maddow and Pat Buchannan have a LIVE BLOG on MSNBC…Maddow says:
“[Rachel Maddow: I can’t be sure I didn’t miss a mention… and there was that moment when my audio went buh-bye… but as far as I can tell — I think that McCain’s just made his way through all three presidential debates without saying the phrase “middle class].”

Such bogus BS from Maddow and the OBOT spinners; who the hell do they think McCain is talking about; NoBama could care less about the middle class…AMAZING!!!

  46. McCain did well tonight but he was overshadowed somewhat by “Mr. I Really Have Nothing to Say But I Am Determined to Keep On Talking”. But I do think that McCain may have staved off defections as a result of taking a risk by baiting “Mr. I Am a Pompous Ass With Not One Original Thought In My Head”.

  47. So it is president Obama 2009-2013 followed by prez-right wing republican 2013-2021 followed by prez right wing republican 2 followed by prez right wing republican 3, 2021-2019.

  48. Yeah, rub it in, SM!!!

Oh well, the Giants could still win the Super Bowl again.

    😉

  49. I suspect that McCain has embraced Hillary’s plans too much for the Republicans. Either that or they don’t want Republicans holding the bag when the bottom falls out.

  50. Angienc that is funny. And that woman in the front whose hair looked like her cat cut it, was in the tank for Barry before she got there. I bet if they followed her to the restroom she would have Obama underooos on.

  51. How can Fox’s poll show 86/12 for McCain and they’re saying it’s OB. Gimme a break.

  52. GO PHILLIES!!!

  53. Did McCain mention the offensive T-Shirts? I think I saw that downthread some where.

  54. The truth was on the side of McCain, but Ob ama was slick. Oh Silent Majority, please speak..

  55. bloviating flatuent gasbags!

  56. I think I have seen some of the Luntz “undecided voters” in the audience for Deal or No Deal. They seem awfully familiar.

  57. sm — yes he did but he didn’t say the “c” word

  58. Note to RD: I think the bottom has already fallen out 🙂

  59. cnn said McCain won

    fox said Obama won

The world is upside down tonight.

  60. He mentioned the tee shirts but didn’t tell what they said. You really have to SEE them to get it. Him saying it would have resurrected a particular rumor from way back that’s better left unrevived.

Did anybody actually SEE Hillary? Did she forget to show up? Catch the flu? Have mysterious cramps the required chocolate and a heating pad in defiance of all logic?

  61. Did McCain mention the offensive T-Shirts? I think I saw that downthread some where.

McCain mentioned “t-shirts” but Obama quickly cut him off.

  62. SM – Yes, he did. That was excellent. He really cornered Obama on John Lewis’ reprehensible statements and how he’s offended by what he’s seen from Obama’s campaign too.

  63. So now they have some idiot, sounds like an American, on BBC who is gushing over Obama and saying he “won.”

Gee, and it’s not even safe to go upstairs and watch FOX instead?

  64. The Red Sox have one more chance to make a save. I have my doubts though.

  65. Gloria Borger (ugh!) said “there was no straight talk ” on the economy from either mccain or obama

  66. CNN wants it’s credibility back. Fox is hedging it’s bets.

  67. SM, yes he did, and i also thought he was very strong about who has run a more negative campaign. it was obama who was on the defensive, or outright evading during the whole discussion. and he didn’t repudiate at all what john lewis said. not to mention his lies about ayers.

  68. Cate- McCain tried to neutralize that by talking about how smooth Obama was w/out saying anything. That may have helped with the undecideds.

  69. All Afro American Gal, on October 15th, 2008 at 10:48 pm Said:
Angienc that is funny. And that woman in the front whose hair looked like her cat cut it, was in the tank for Barry before she got there. I bet if they followed her to the restroom she would have Obama underooos on.

Where can I find those underoos? I could use some in case I get mice this winter!

  70. Ann, CNN probably flipped a coin

  71. PJ – LOL!!!

  72. Hillary decided to stay home and watch Viggo Morgenson on HBO.

  73. Ann – WTF????

    CNN!!!!!!!??????

MadamaB: LOL! When the Giants kick the Bucs/Patriots azz, you can get me back.

  74. Does Fiji admit lemmings, anyone know?

No lemmings, Obots, or sheeple allowed through immigration. Only PUMA-minded escapees.

  75. sorry I meant the MSM!

  76. Regency, Hillay is beyond cramps and just into securing Senate Majority Leader..

  77. Fif – I think they changed their immigration policy to allow all of us PUMA lemmings. Did we forget to send you the memo?

  78. yeah, is there anywhere to go to find out how much time each candidate spoke?

  79. WTF? Krauthammer says BO was calm, cool, and reassuring, and that’s all he had to do. I didn’t see calm. I saw angry, petulant, smug. He says that McCain doesn’t elaborate on Ayers, BO’s abortion votes etc. He doesn’t give the final blow. I really don’t understand what these people think someone is supposed to accomplish in one hour.

  80. phlamingophred you can get the Barry underoos if you send in 500 proof of purchase UPC codes from specially marked packets of Kool Aid.

  81. madamab,

I don’t know if they were new sermons, but I had never heard them before. I was listening to right wing talk radio in the car and a guy ran a whole bunch of clips of Wright in a row. It was shocking to hear. They really need to get those tapes back out there. McCain is being too cautious.

  82. Obama won every debate debate he’s been in simply by not losing badly and by not crying on the stage.

    See how it works?

  83. Lou Dobbs told CNN who to call it for this time!

  84. Thanks to all who answered my question!!

Good. Glad to hear that McCain socked it to him!

  85. And Obama nodded in agreement about the t-shirts but did not address them. Can this man be any more blatant in his disregard for women?

  86. This Blows Fox News bring on Hannity. These guys need a cattle prod up their a$$.

  87. phlaming: no no no, lemmings are mindless. PUMAs are fully aware and independent thinkers.

  88. PJ – Sorry, but Hillary doesn’t need Viggo. She has Bill!!! Although maybe he was out of town…

    🙂

SM – I hope so!!! Sorry darling, but I hate the Patriots. I don’t know why. I don’t even like football. Unlike my antipathy to Obama, my Pate-Hate is totally irrational.

  89. Thanks all you sibling PUMAs for the commentary. Being TV-less — and unable to actually listen to the Chosen One’s blather — I appreciate those of you who put up with it.

Sometimes my home town seems like O-bot Central. But I think I am seeing fewer “O” signs/bumper stickers than I did signs for Kerry in ’04. Could it be people are really not as happy with the O as the MSM think? I suspect the average Joe the Plumber types actually do see thru O.

  90. Lou Dobbs and I just signed our pre nuptual agreement. He is the only one I watch. Love Lou!!

  91. Cate: Hillary said just yesterday that there is 0 chance of that happening. I think she’d be more surprised than anybody. I also think she doesn’t want it. She’s powerful enough and doesn’t sleep as it is. She’s got 2 years to do something about that before she has to decide if she wants to do this again.

  92. Krauthammer: Obama only had to play defensively and not make any major mistakes, and because he did that–he won.

This is from a conservative?! What kind of b.s. world is this?

  93. People are going to believe their own eyes and ears, not the pundits. Obama looked like he was going to cry a couple of times.

Did anybody actually SEE Hillary? Did she forget to show up? Catch the flu? Have mysterious cramps the required chocolate and a heating pad in defiance of all logic?

    WTF Cnn said McCain won???
    Sweet.
Hillary decided to stay home and watch Grey’s Anatomy. That is one of my favorite shows and it is Hillary’s favorite show. She has said so many a time in many an interview.
Grey’s Anatomy much more entertaining than watching the punditry with their crappity appity analysis.

  95. Krauthammer is full of sh*t. He is remarkably unruffled, self-containment, and discipline, that is his gift. Do I need a lobotomy?

  96. These are the same people who when Bush did not drool all over his tie they called it a “win”.

  97. Isis: CNN said McCain won, but FOX said BO won?!! Bizarro world.

  98. fif – I agree. McCain brought up the issues. The 527s will elaborate.

    In excruciating detail.

I can’t believe it’s come to this. But the media is not doing its job. Obama flat-out lied about Ayers and Acorn and Schieffer didn’t say a word.

  99. PAT: LOLOLOLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Besides, Lou got more loot than Ed. And more hair.

  100. fif, on October 15th, 2008 at 10:54 pm Said:
phlaming: no no no, lemmings are mindless. PUMAs are fully aware and independent thinkers.

then how do explain all of us mindlessly migrating to new threads when told?

  101. The media pundits are saying Obama wins because he is cool and calm.

What the hell…… in these perilous times I want EMOTION… ENGAGEMENT….show me you care about the economy, the war, education, energy…..I don’t want ALOOF and DETACHED.

Listened to NPR, did not watch . McCain was the clear winner with precise, quick, understandable replies while O. as usual, rambled on in his arrogant infuriating manner.

Loved the “you should have run against Bush” comment and also the “I get it, if you don’t have enough funds for the voucher program you eliminate it” by McCain.

Glad McCain brought up John Lewis. The behavior of AA members of congress whom I have respected for many, many years, in this election is so disheartening.
Obama seems to bring out the worst in everyone.

  102. Hillary was watching the finale of Project Runway, a channel I can’t fucking find right now on this new tv!

  103. “WTF Cnn said McCain won???”

Oh $%^^. Watch out Lou, the crypt keeper is going to jump out at you with a hatchet on the way to your dressing room.

  104. SOD: You are telling us more than we need to know!!

  105. krauthammer isn’t a conservative, he’s the neo-con elite..they’re just as stuck up and patrician as their latte counterparts. the whole “concept” of mccain offends him. Maybe if he wore a bow tie…..

  106. WTF is going on with Fox News? They are now sounding like CNN or like when Hillary would kick barry hussians ass and then say barry won. I don’t get it — I am NOT happy.

  107. I wish I had seen the Ayers comments. i wasn’t around for the debate. I’m going to watchthe rerun on CSPAN or someplace else.

  108. I have supported Hillary loyally but I feel sad that she has gone more than she has to in promoting someone who has blatantly abused her all throughout the primaries; continues to swipe her ideas without any acknowledgment and his campaign continues to exhibit such disrespect for women. I will still vote for you, Sen. Clinton, but must you stand by and allow another woman candidate to be subjected to the same abuse that you were subjected to?

  109. 13621 have voted on the FOX NEWS Politics site:
    73% NOBAMA
    27% McCain

You can go vote in that Poll…those are the numbers and the Poll Fox is refering too.

The OBOTS are out in force voting in these “Bogus” unscientific polls but the MSM uses them as if they mean something and spin the results.

It is easy to go to the Fox Site and vote; so if the spirit moves you then add your vote to the NOBAMA side!!!

    McCain/Palin08

  110. angie: One Luntz guy said “Obama won the debate but I still don’t trust him. I won’t vote for him” LOL

That’s priceless. They should ask everyone who they are going to vote for instead of who won the debate.

  111. Kristol said McCain wasn’t tough enough. What did they want him to do, body check Obama? I want to get paid a lot of money to make assinine comments without any accountability.

  112. Regency – I’m going to watch it right now, since I missed it at 9:00!! I LOVE that show!!!

  113. Guys, I don’t get this. I don’t see things the way the pundits do. Maybe something is wrong with me. I just don’t get it. I try to get what they are saying but I just can’t. It was the same with Hillary. I felt good about the debate then listening to the pundits is such a downer. But what did I expect? We all knew they would say that Obama won.

  114. but the conflucian poll says McCain won 97% to 3%. I think it is probably more accurate 🙂

  115. What would I do without this site? McCain won. Luntz and his ‘undecided’ morons really get on my nerves. I also that the gal in the front was ‘in the tank for Obama before she got there’. I really don’t believe those people were undecided. I’ll bet Luntz is a barkyite as well. The Obamessiah bores me to tears. I want to hold him by the ear and just wipe that smurk off his face. I thought McCain was wonderful.

I am so relieved others here don’t believe those people were really undecided, and lied their drawers off to get on the show and act like the Obamatron just swept them off their feet. You can see the lying right in their eyes, and it makes me furious.

  116. I agree with everyone about BO’s facial expressions. It seemed like there were more instances of his looking like he was scared than his normal gloating looks. And several “oh, crap – I am in way over my head and didn’t sign up for this – please, please help me!” looks tonight.

  117. Pat Johnson, on October 15th, 2008 at 10:56 pm Said:
These are the same people who when Bush did not drool all over his tie they called it a “win”.

Thank you for that concise analysis. It puts everything in the proper perspective.

You know, I remember back in February when I suddenly realized with an unnerving chill that BO reminded me of Bush. No tingles. Just a cold, creeping dread.

  118. turn of the tv people..the debate is over…don’t listen to those gasbags…you just feed them the faux credibilty that they desire.

  119. phlaming: It’s perfectly simple. RD cracks her whip and everyone moves.

  120. right on christine..i’m with you. you don’t go into a debate undecided and by the end of it you’re spewing out talking points that you learned on Kos.

  121. AAA Gal,

I have never agreed with the pundits about anything. They are completely out of touch with regular people and have no clue who they will vote for.

  122. when I finally go tto watch, I saw barky nearly get whiplash when mccain said something about the school voucher program in d.c.
I wish his head would have flown off into the corner

  123. then how do explain all of us mindlessly migrating to new threads when told?

Pack mentality. We follow wise leaders, not empty false idols.

  124. I DON’T SLEEP NIGHTS these days by the way just worrying about this. I am in despair. Obama, slick, disgusting, lying bastard had the upper hand most of this evening. McCain is not up to the challenge – no matter how much we want to think he is. And, there were times (mainly when he was talking about abortion) that I was revolted. This is the shittiest time I can imagine.

  125. All Afro American Gal: I have had the same question for months? I keep asking, am I missing something, what is the appeal? And I come here and let my fellow Conflucians tell me over and over that it is not me but the fact that the candidate is a lying sack of manure. So it is not you nor is it me. It is HIM!!

  126. Gary – I haven’t listened to the punditry since the Clinton era.

I don’t need anyone to tell me what to think. I saw and heard everything with my own eyes and ears.

  127. garychapelhill, on October 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm Said:
but the conflucian poll says McCain won 97% to 3%. I think it is probably more accurate

who are those 3%? They must be on the wrong blog

  128. Every chance she has gotten Hillary has said that sexism is rampant and that we should call it out whenever we see it. She said it yesterday but nobody listened to that part.

Hillary is not the candidate anymore. It is not her JOB or her PLACE to call out anybody. It is Barack Obama’s job and his place. It’s Joe Biden’s place. It’s John McCain’s and Sarah Palin’s place. Hillary will answer when asked but she is in no position to be putting out press releases.

I love her and she is my Prez 2012 but this is not her battle anymore even if we can still see her peeking through the door and sound of her voice lingers like an echo to everyone else.

  129. I love how obama always has to point out that he’s richer than “us”. he says that a lot.

  130. When the “T-Shirt” issue came up…BO had that sick smirk on his face…like he got caught doing something BAD!!!

  131. “Obama flat-out lied about Ayers and Acorn and Schieffer didn’t say a word.”

This is definitely worse than Bush. With bush, he’d lie 100 times and they’d let 98 go but make half hearted corrections of the others. With Obama, it’s like they’re constructing their own reality.

  132. riverdaughter, on October 15th, 2008 at 11:01 pm Said:

    yes maam…

  133. CNN is practicing reverse psychology — they realize that Americans know how “in the tank” for BO they are, so they think if they say McCain won, America will start thinking they have some journalistic integrity.

  134. RD – posted your thread on front page of

    http://www.justsaynodeal.com

check it out to see who won!!

    best,

    princess

  135. obama’s response to anything he didn’t want to talk abou tis “that’s not true” and then he’d start talking about something else.

  136. fif,

See my remarks on ALL the debates.

Obama is never supposed to actually win a debate, any debate. All he always have to do in not lose badly, something impossible in this format.

The onus is NEVER on Obama to do anything, never ever. He just has to show up while the opponent has to do everything.

Even then, it’s not enough. Hillary probably got tired of waxing different floors with him but Obama still managed to “win” all those debate, because Obama never lost so badly that he ran out of the room in the midst of the discussion.

Richer=Superior and we get reminded least we forget who is above us and who we need to FOLLOW!!!
    NOBAMA EVER!!!

  139. I agree with everyone about BO’s facial expressions. It seemed like there were more instances of his looking like he was scared than his normal gloating looks. And several “oh, crap – I am in way over my head and didn’t sign up for this – please, please help me!”

No phlaming: didn’t you get the memo? He is “cool, calm and reassuring. He cannot be ruffled, he is remarkably self-contained and disciplined.”

I see an immature, insecure, smug, petulant teenager. I always have. I remember that debate way back, when they were all on the stage with podiums, and I thought: “He is incredibly arrogant–what a turn off.”

  140. gary — I think you’re right about the conflucian poll — that 3% must have been mamamia, masslib, etc

  141. Media: McCain won… but not by enough so Obama won. They call O calm, cool, unruffled… I consider O dull as dishwater.

Pfterdebate: O camp is spinning ‘spreading the wealth around’ actually meant… spreading tax cuts etc around.

  142. madamab,

I stopped listening to the pundits during the Reagan era. They were on their knees to the Gipper. I’ve never trusted any of them since.

  143. bostonboomer, on October 15th, 2008 at 10:55 pm Said:

Yep, he turned lots of people off in a visceral way, of that I am quite sure. The smirking, laughing, running circles around anything the uncomfortable stuff.

I don’t know much but I do know this guy should be nowhere near the white house.

Weird and immature temperment, I felt like i was watching bush a few times.

    Great job tonight conflucians!

  144. I just turned on CSPAN to hear a three year old (sounding little girl) talking about her support for barky.
OMG she is reflecting on what 14 and 15 year olds are saying…
    OMFG

  145. Is it too late to place Obama in Gore’s famous “lock box”?

  146. I think it’s hilarious that Obama trolls are coming here to vote in our poll for Obama. Talk about obsession.

  147. Juan Williams: BO has a “remarkable ability to tailor his message to the middle class, contrasting with McCain who said he would be a good steward of their tax dollars. What does John McCain stand for, what would he do?”

Where has he been? He talked again and again about reform, and accountable.

BO comes across as calm and presidential.

I am going to puke now. FOX is really p*ssing me off tonight.

  148. then how do explain all of us mindlessly migrating to new threads when told?

I thought it was because they move the keg

  149. obama can never be anything BUT calm and cool and rational. to call him anything else would make you racist.

I love how obama always has to point out that he’s richer than “us”. he says that a lot.

Of course – his campaign is totally aspirational, “if you want to be me, you have to vote for me.” No different from luxury brand advertisements.

  152. PJ – Maybe Obama was in Gore’s lockbox four years ago, and that’s why he didn’t run against Bush in 2004!

    😉

  153. Fif – is that what that paper was? I’m so sorry, I accidentally dropped it into the catbox.

I certainly never meant to suggest otherwise, but it was refreshing to see that veneer cracking.

  154. Kristol: If you watch that 90 minute debate, why should John McCain be president? I don’t think a viewer could give a 2 sentence summary of what McCain offers.

Do these conservatives WANT to lose? Let’s bash our candidate when he is struggling to catch up. They’re gone–mute.

I’ll see what Rove has to say.

  155. Bring on Hannity and Scarecrow

  156. “I will still vote for you, Sen. Clinton, but must you stand by and allow another woman candidate to be subjected to the same abuse that you were subjected to?”

What do you expect her to do about it? She couldn’t get her own party to stp treating her like a subhuman, how is she supposed to control them now? They don’t care what she thinks, and if she spent all day every day talking about what sexist &^%$#@$ the Democratic Party are, nobody would cover it seriously, they’d all just sit around taking pot shots at her again and high fiving each other. It’s pointless.

  157. good grief! these fox people are waxing poetic about BO!

someone better check their water glasses…

  158. oo Hillary

  159. Hillary!!! on Fox

  160. HRC ON FOX!!!!

“3 for 3 for Obama…” HRC you’re breaking my heart.

  161. Regency – Are you watching “Runway?”

Kenley’s voice is more annoying than Obama’s!!!

  162. WTF — I am so sick of this election. I swear – someone come kick me in the head to make me feel better.

Now I get to hear Hillary scream for barry hussian —

  163. Regency, you have another hour to find the channel….the finale of Project Runway is being repeated again tonight!

And I saw Hillary! It was sooooooo annoying. Forget which chanel because I kept surfing but they had some guy’s head directly in front of hers and it was like an eclipse. You only saw her corona, but it was definitely her.

  164. Eh don’t get too excited about cnn. I figure they’ll reverse course by the morning. I only clicked to them because fox ticked me off with “McCain didn’t do enough”. I nearly fell out of my chair when cnn’s panel said McCain won, Obama had his worst debate, yada yada. Even that Roland guy was complaining about something Obama said.

  165. Hillary’s talking about Joe the plumber on Fox…

  166. Obama is like a male Heidi Klum. “Look at me, I am beautiful, wondrous, untouchable. You all want to be like me but no chance. Feast your eyes as that will be as close as you get to my perfection”. Yuck

  167. kiki5, actually I usually end up left behind, posting to myself and wondering where everyone went. (Was it something I said?)

  168. Rerun of project runway finale in case anyone forgot on now

  169. hillary is on fox – excuse me while i go throw up….

i cannot bear watching her pimp out obama…….makes me wanna go campaign for mccain/palin….

sorry if that’s a bit harsh.

  170. Hilary is on Fox, stumping for Obama, sort of

  171. kiki5 – it’s partly because they move the kegs – but mostly because RD asks us so nicely!

  172. If CNN is giving this to McCain it must mean that Roland was stuck in traffic someplace.

Well said Regency. Hillary is not going to say she wants to run again three weeks before an election. If McCain wins, then our pansuit wife will be in the oval office in 2012. Done deal.
Hillary is at home watching Grey’s Anatomy. That is one of my favorite shows, and Hillary has said in many an interview that Grey’s Anatomy is her favorite show.

  174. pat I thought you wrote lunchbox. 🙂

  175. Free Hillary
    Vote McCain

    PUMA Up!!!!

  176. didn’t seal the deal with me Hillary — and why aren’t you supporting John McCain on the HOLC ??

  177. HRC: BO presenting a coherent vision of what his presidency will be:
    health care, economy, etc.

    “Spread the wealth” question.
HRC: “Well we have a tax system that has been heavily tilted, and has not created more jobs. We have had an experiment in the last 16 years.

Did McCain get the game changer he needed?

HRC: I don’t think so. From my perspective, BO sealed the deal, and the American people are ready to move on from what we have experienced in the last 8 years. He provides steady, intelligent leadership.

    I want to die.

  178. gary: Your eyes need examining. Or you have reached your limit.

  179. I’m gonna say what I’ve said already so many times that I’m sick of my voice: Stop watching her. Or better yet, MUTE is your friend. What’s she gonna say, “He so totally bombed”? No, she won’t.

  184. Hillary is at home watching Grey’s Anatomy.
    _________

She must have gotten a preview version then. Lucky gal.

  185. fif: That is why I hardly turn the tv on anymore. I know I am going to end up disappointed and depressed so why tempt it? Inviting the spin in only increases that level of anxiety and brings out the worst. Most of it is just bullshit anyway.

  186. Remember that Hillary is a politician. A Democratic politician.

She swore to support Obama. That’s what she’s doing.

I’ll bet she’ll vote for Obama, but Bill will vote for McCain. He never promised nuthin’.

  187. Fox has probably gotten beaten up a lot by the OBOTs and so they are spinning for BO to make points in case he really does become POTUS…after all the THOUGHT POLICE will come by and pay a visit if you don’t say THE RIGHT THINGS about THE PRECIOUS ONE!!!

    Good to see you here!!!!!!!!!!

  195. phred – I don’t know! PUMA Up is mine, but “Free Hillary, Vote McCain” is not.

I haven’t made anything for PUMA Up yet.

  196. Oh God. If I want to hear Hannity & Rove, I have to stomach Don Knotts.

    Where’s angie tonight?

  197. Obama is ‘calm, cool, never ruffled’. That is because he is a narcissist. They never feel anyhting but good about themselves.

  198. Also, I loved when McCain mentioned the tee shirt but I thought he should’ve pushed Obama further to DENOUNCE SEXISM.

Mac also missed a moment to show he hired more women and paid them better.

Also, VERY annoying, but he let Obama LIE that his career did not begin in Ayers’ living room when Alice Palmer passed the baton to him.

I turned off the tv when Fox had four faux “undecideds” claim they’re now Obama. BS!!!

  199. madamab~
I said I’d support Hillary. But I never said I’d vote for Obama. I’ll still support Hillary. but not with a co-opted vote for the One.
They were even calling him “the One” on cnn tonight (the lou dobbs preview show.)

  200. Hey – has anyone seen Carol Diamonds recently? Pat’s mention of Eddy and Lou Dobbs reminded me…

  201. SOD: You never know when that “rainy day” will come around. A spare “umbrella” comes in handy.

  202. I’ll bet she’ll vote for Obama, but Bill will vote for McCain. He never promised nuthin’.

We all know Bill will vote for McCain.
Hillary must have bile in her throat, talking up BO.
Those T shirts said “Palin is a C*&nt”.
When McCain talked brought them up in the debate, Obama smirked his nasty putrid smirk and cut him off. That is when I blew my stack.
Barky knows all about the T shirts. His Campaign designed them.

  203. relax, guys. Hillary is just covering her ass and everyone knows it.

  204. Maybe Joe the plumber can be Prez.

  205. thx sm!!! taking a break …. this is where the cool peeps hang 😉

  206. “Entertainment Tonight showed a clip of HIllary saying she has no plans to run again. ”

I wonder if Hillary is being forced to say that by the DNC because the DNC knows many people are voting republican only for the reason that Hillary will run again in 2012.

  207. madamab: She went to Orlando for 4 days and I think she left yesterday.

  208. If I have to scream that Hillary did not say she absolutely would not run again, it will not be pretty. We have parsed, we have clarified, we have given context.

How about we leave it at, meet me in 2010 and move on, please?

  209. Mac also missed a moment to show he hired more women and paid them better.

How could he? Moderator kept cutting him off.

  210. Hillary has 3 weeks left to her indentured servitude.

Come Nov. 5th – WE WILL REMEMBER and get Fuzzy to make the grand announcement for 2012.

  211. Romney just said he saw a focus group that gave the debate to McCain 3:1. I’m booking a private jet for Fiji so we can all go together. We’ll campaign for HRC from there, and come back for the battleground state work in 2012.

  212. Okay, I have a question. Do normal people (I mean non political junkies like me) listen to the commentary after the debate? I’ve noticed that the candidates do seem to speak English and do seem to use fairly understandable words… do the majority of people need media personalities telling them what they just heard? I would think the majority of people trust their own judgment and turn off the talking heads when they blather off into oblivion.

  213. MAC needs to run some ads with Joe the Plumber….that could win the elex for him!

for those who didn’t see him on cavuto — he essentially gave Obama a THUMBS DOWN…the vid is up at

    http://www.justsaynodeal.com

for those who missed it .

  214. Me either leslie! No way, no how, NoBAMA!

But people should leave Hillary ALOOOOONE and let her do what she promised to do. IMHO.

  215. You know, I can’t help but believe that the only reason they’re making Hillary do this is because they’re really worried that they need PUMA votes. There’s simply no other reason to keep her in the spotlight and on the campaign trail. She’s not on the freakin’ ticket! Let Joe do this shit. I’ve never seen anything like it. There must be a VERY good reason for it.

  216. Hillary zila: Kindly prance your ass out of here. Calling Hillary names will never endear you to this blog. She is a former First Lady and a two time senator from NY and though she may not live up to your expectations she deserves respect.

  217. Hannity: this was by far Sen. McCain’s strongest performance.

  218. ok — here’s my man — Hannity

  219. simofish – ur gonna have to fight me for him!

  220. Just got off the phone with Sheri and Darragh over on blog talk radio. My view: the debate was boring. Why didn’t Obama say yes, I have a litmus test when it comes to appointing Supreme Court judges: they have to be pro choice. That’s what a Dem’s Dem would say. But Obama is in the pocket of a branch of the Christian community that will not permit him that stance.

  226. angelasmith: Good point. I don’t think the pundits are necessary. You can trust your lying ears.

  227. Hello princess prada! I join in the applause.

  228. I know that Fox, CNN, etc are saying that O won, because he stayed calmed. But John, had all the SMOKING REMAREKS that will be remembered tomorrow and the next few weeks. O didn’t say anything that will be remembered.

  229. I couldn’t bear watching O’s smirks — of course if I were a cool person like I used to be back before this election I would have seen him as calm and presidential

  230. I had a date with Roland in college

  231. Princess: EXACTLY. I said above that Joe the Plumber will win the election for McCain.

  232. Hannity: BO was flustered, on his heels, defensive all night long.

See the distortion? How could the other FOX pundits see a completely different debate? “Calm, cool and reassuring.”

  239. New theme from Republicans:

Romney: The Gang of 3: Obama, Pelosi, Reid. If you give them that much power, you will see a government like they have in Europe.

Hillary has earned our respect. Thanks Pat J.

  241. And Senator Clinton simply cannot do anything other than what she is doing. Not to disrespect her, but she’s not the point for the next 3 weeks. The point is whether we are going to have to put up with an empty suit who cannot be trusted and is interested in a cult of personality more than anything else as our next president.

  242. angelasmith, sadly I’ve come to the conclusion that there are way too many people who just read the headlines. They appear to have no grasp of anything other than what the pundits say. 244. Hillary knows in her heart that NOBAMA is a FAKE!!!
She MUST be getting so much pressure; I don’t listen to Hillary either (I just can’t), I mute the thing and/or say what she should be saying (so I don’t hear her words); I replace them with mine.

I do the same thing when NOBAMA comes on…the debates were torture because listening to BO is like listening to the sound of nails being scrapped across a blackboard…makes you want to scream STFU!!!

Actually, I do scream at the TV when his commercials come on…..Thank you PUMAs; this is a sanctuary!!!

    McCain/Palin08

  245. Hm, SO — who is far less biased than I am, heh, and thinks BO won the last debate — though McCain wiped the floor with the Dauphin tonight. I trust him more than the tabloids.

OTOH, what can you expect? The the corporate media would suddenly become a critical, fair Fourth Estate? Just more of the same old, same old, and I’ve never been one to pay much attention to Pravda.

  246. Hi Heidi!

We were commenting before that Obama thinks a woman needs a committee of men in order to decide whether or not she wants an abortion. He even added another group tonight.

Local KC news presented a stronger view of McCain’s performance than Obama’s.

hi to dr. Heid and all my galpals here….the fight never does end!

anyone with capacity over the next 2 weeks interested in a mccain concall tomorrow – for swing state organizing?

LOOKING FOR Peeps in : FLORIDA , OHIO & PENNSYLVANIA…

… if so, buzz me tomorrow morning…617-416-4897

  276. I give up. I have to go to bed. See my comment @11:14.

    👿

  277. Regency, Heidi Li – Also, it looks like Paterson is going to run in 2012. I highly doubt HRC will go up against a Democratic AA Governor!

I personally believe Senator Clinton will run for governor of NY. But I agree with all those who say that she has done more than enough to have my respect. What she chooses to do after this election is just that: HER CHOICE.

Agreed. But I still believe that the oval office is the only office good enough for her.

Regency, on October 15th, 2008 at 11:27 pm Said:
You know what’s weird, I sensed that Hillary-zila wouldn’t stay on our side just by the name. Who would ever think that was complimentary?

Not complimentary at all. Calling Hillary a sl*& is no better than calling Palin a C*&nt.

  279. I’m tired and heading to bed. Y’all have a good night and catch me up tomorrow on AAAGal’s date with Roland.

  280. I just like to ask my fellow PUMAs for a favor: if you ever see me standing on my tiptoes behind a TV commentator, talking on my cell phone and making faces, yank me out of there to save my dignity.

  281. oh katie, thanks!

    ‘nite 🙂

  282. good night gxm.

  283. hey katie bird — I’m hear — not paying attention because I was talking to my mom — we were busy trashing BO. But I’m back now. Glad to know I was missed.

Run along, troll. This conversation was going just fine without the tired old thug talking point which doesn’t even FIT the definition of “voter fraud.”

    =========

Kat5, thanks for the report from your excursion into Obamaterritory!

  285. Hi All, I’ve only been watching and didn’t realize there were so many threads when it looked like you were done. Thanks God finally I found you and that Hannity is on. They and y’all saw the same debate I did. But, now I’m officially scared. I thought Mack won, none of the media, even FOX, did till Hannity, but I’m scared b/c I found myself rebelling against Hillary on NBC, CBS and FOX where she was a-shilling. I found myself agreeing with Romney about the points Mack made. OMG, MAWM, help! I think I’m turning ‘Pulican!

  286. Both parties ended up with comparatively mediocre nominees. Romney and Clinton both know more economics than either McCain or Obama.

And interestingly, both McCain and Obama were careful to pick veeps who were in no way threatening to them, rather than veeps who might have added real substance to their team – but McC hates Romney, O’B hates Clinton, so it was third best all around.

And I say this as somebody who gives Biden and Pailin credit where they deserve it.

  287. Pat J: Point. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt over the last several months but I do not tolerate needless badmouthing of HIllary. I get it, ya don’t like her campaigning for him but I would never say she sold us out because she didn’t. She hasn’t stopped fighting for us once even though she couldn’t do it in the way she wanted to. She misses sleep for us and for that asshole and it shows. The last thing she has ever done is quit on us. That’s why even when I don’t like what she does, I can still walk about with a great deal of relief knowing she’s got her eye on the ball.

WOW!! Thank you for sticking to your principles!

McCain is humbly asking for our votes, basically getting on one knee in his plea – Obama DEMANDS it, like a bully does when he wants your lunch money.

  290. And let us know how much we need to chip in for that private jet.

I’ll see if I can get a good deal from one of these imploding financial institutions. Maybe they’ll sell their jet on E-bay like Palin did.

I don’t know about GOV. She could certainly do it but I think she really likes the ability to influence policy on a national scale which she’s able to do in the Senate. I’m not sure she’d be as able to do that as Governor.

If Obama loses then the DNC will beg her to run in 2012, like they did in 2004. Besides, we will have reformed the DNC by then. Like Regency said, it’s her choice. No one else’s. Right now, we should focus on keeping “The One” out of the White House.

  292. Sherry,

I found the comment. It’s gone now.

  293. Soledad O’Brien on CNN had a post debate forum with undecided voters. When asked if anyone had changed their minds 6 people raised their hands. 2 people said they were voting for Obama and two said McCain. She said, Well, it looks evenly divided. The next two people said they would vote for McCain.

She concluded that it was an even split. I can hardly wait for the YouTube of this. If someone finds it would you PLEASE send me the link?

  294. I hope HRC does NOT run for Governor. I think the State Gov. is hopeless. She will do more good in the Senate where here abilities are much needed and CAN affect change. They would be wasted on NY, and I say that as a resident. ..just my 2 cents

  298. When FDR lost the White House the first time he went to NY and served as governor. Governor is a great platform for running for president. Worked for President Clinton. Worked for Ronald Reagan. Worked for Bush.

But I am not sideline coaching Senator Clinton. I have total trust in her ability to decide how to use her talents most effectively after November 4.

  300. paganpower –

LOL! 4 – 2 for McCain is an even split?!

Wowie wow, they’re not even trying to pretend objectivity any more!

  301. AAAGal — you canNOT drop a bomb like “I had a date with Roland in college” and then leave. I demand the scoop now.

  302. I like what Heidi Li said about BO’s Cult of Personality – and while it is that, it is mostly just your average cult with all of the attendant brainwashing involved. That’s what the scary part really is for me.

  303. LadyB: no you’re not. We’re all in the same boat. I have been listening to Limbaugh for God’s sake. I still think he is a ridiculous blowhard, but we have to take desperate measures to find SOME semblance of truth where BO is concerned. Rush calls him a “squirrel” which I really enjoy.

HRC is eternally focused on her goals of UHC, women’s & children’s rights, veterans, economic fairness, education etc. That is always her priority, and she feels this is the best route to forwarding that agenda. I get it.

I have no idea what the others are doing. Pundits are brain-addled. Remember when there were no pundits? They’re like cockroaches now.

  304. Even Fox agrees. ???

  305. it’s true that McCain sounded humble while O told us what to do — told parents to turn off the TVs and all that snarkiness….

  306. I would love to be a pundit just to be able to throw my own spit back in Chris Matthews face.

  307. Heidi Li: I know! I think you have a point there. I guess I just have a sense of urgency about it because I do adore Sarah Palin but I’m concerned about what she would do without McCain’s moderating force. I don’t want to have to wait until Hillary is that much older for her to have to run against a still fairly young Sarah Palin. Frankly, I’m not sure the country would last that long.

  311. told parents to turn off the TVs and all that snarkiness….

Yes, they should go play video games where they can see his strategically placed ads!

  312. WhatSuddenly – Obama is endlessly condescending. He just doesn’t care at all about anyone but himself. His narcissism is “cool” only to spoiled Reagan devotees like the fauxgressives who run the Obamasphere.

  313. Obama said that he was richer than me, that I was living beyond MY means (which are less than his), and that we should redstribute the wealth. so when is he gonna send me a check?

  314. Gerry on FOX. Now SHE is going to shill for BO.

She said your text voters are a bunch of kids voting. Excuuuuuse me Gerry. I sent in a text, and I am NOT a kid.

I still don’t get why Gerry is doing this either–he called her a rac*st. She is not in the Senate or running for office again. Does she need the FOX gig?

OMG: she is saying BO won on TRUST re: health care and education. He pointed out the people who have formed his opinions over the last few years–Buffet, Biden, etc. In other words, HE cannot be trusted, so he dropped names to reassure people.

  315. Turn the tv off so they can kneel in front of his picture a la Mao.

  316. jvsp: You don’t understand. Hillary doesn’t have a penis. therefore, the only way she can acquire the same amount of executive experience that Obama was born with because he possesses a penis is if she is the governor of a state. Of course, THEN she won’t have any practical experience, like Palin, who comes from a hick state like Alaska. Of course, Bill Clinton didn’t have any experience in Washington either, being the governor of a hick state like Arkansas. But he did have a penis so that makes him more experienced.

  317. Lady B and fif — I have felt like I’m having an identity crisis. When you get called a racist for supporting Hillary and when the Democrats turn out to be more sexist than Repubs and voter fraud is rampant for the Dem candidate– and yes, I listen to the blowhard Rush and I never would have a year ago — it makes the world feel upside down

  318. I actually don’t think brining up multi-billionaire Buffet as “your friend” helps BO with the average American.

It’s what I’ve always thought, anyway. I am starting to firmly believe in the thirty percent solution. Only I would say it’s better said as a fifty percent solution.
When women gain power, things change. That’s how it goes. Out of every minority in the world, women have the least representation. I think every problem this world has ever known finds it roots in patriarchy. Up until around twelve thousand years ago, women had equal stake in their societies.
After that, organized religion came into the mix, and women were deigned obsolete. It is fascinating to me. I have studied things like this for a while now and that is my personal belief.

    NOBAMA EVER!!!

  330. Regency: what has always been interest to me about Senator Clinton is that she really thinks before she acts. She did it when she decided to go to Arkansas as a young woman; she did it when she reassessed how to go about health care reform; she did it when she had to decide whether to remain in her marriage. I do not know Senator Clinton but I think she is a person of depth. So she will examine her opportunities and deploy her talent where judges best. I remember when she ran for Senator and all the naysayers said she could not win. She rolled up her sleeves and went all over upstate and convinced people to vote for her. And if she’s not available or ready to run for president in 2012 we have to keep our eyes peeled for who will be.

Ok, now I’m listening to my own advice and remembering that the present moment is not about Senator Clinton.

The present moment is about defeating Obama, and it is about defeating him so that dirty politics are not rewarded. As a nation we have to send that message.

  331. “oy, she’s drinking?”

Wouldn’t you if you had to praise the guy that abused you and your supporters?

Obama is like a fart in an elevator- the arrogant creep is even running his disgusting commericals on the freaking Weather Channel. Gah! That channel has been my refuge from the Obot political ad and propaganda glut everywhere else, the Obot ads are even on the Cartoon Network and Animal Channel as well. McCain doesn’t harass people on those channels, people watching those channels don’t want to see that stuff.

Remember how Romney said he would run again in 2012??? I’ve always thought Romney is a lot like BO. If Romney runs against Palin in the primaries, he will do to her what BO did to Hillary. Romney is just as, if more sleazy than BO. Remember the media wanted Romney instead of McCain, but McCain ended up winning?
I think Hillary would crush Romney if he were her opponent.
Who knows if Palin even wants to run in 2012 anyway?
Too much speculation, so focusing on the task at hand is good, lest my head explodes.

  333. What a difference a week makes. Last week’s debate left us limp as it had all the oomph of air being let out of a tire. Tonight we have some reason to hope again. May not have been a knockout but it showed some signs of renewal at least.

  334. I honestly thought McCain won this one.
Even Obot friends thought he won this won.

What is funny is watching the FOX pundits say the opposite! Were we watching the same thing?

I agree that the MSM will attempt to tell us otherwise but I am quite certain some people see through their BS. Whether it is enough people, I honestly don’t know. But I will continue to fight The One regardless.

Finally here in Ohio the Secretary of State is required by law to share the 200,000 suspicious newly registered voters with the counties that have the responsibility of determining their eligibility. Many people believe that Ohio will make or break the next President. So I am very optimistic.

  340. We can’t trust the media to be straight with the us.They have their lips too firmly attached to Obama’s ass to see past it. So all we can do is try to inform the undecided and VOTE! — scl

  348. Dickie Morris thought McCain was “fabulous tonight…I loved him.”

BO handled it well, he handled the worst McCain had to give with aplomb, presidential, but these debates have different purposes.

This debate had a specific focus on taxes and spending, and JM made that point with Joe the Plumber’s help again and again. If he sticks to that message, he can pull this out.

  349. Mercury is in retrograde you know. That is the only explanation that makes sense to me as to how that pen raising, rude, smug sob is considered “presidential.” W is more presidential then BO and W is the opposite of presidential.
You know, I disagree with about 75% of what McCain wants to do, but I trust him more then I trust BO. Furthermore, even if I disagreed with McCain on everything & I didn’t trust him, I would still not vote for BO, the fraud. Did anyone else hear him start his unadulterated bullsh!t on women needing to consult their pastors re: abortion? This is the DEMOCRAT in the race. Nope, given the choice of the real Republican and the fake Republican, I’m going with the real thing.

  350. Lots of older voters don’t text. My phone has the capacity, I think, but I tried and couldn’t figure out how to vote on the fox text poll. I do think that type of poll favors the young, and thus Obama might get more votes in a text message poll

Well, I have long since decided to make women the cause of my life. I will use every last breath in my body, just like RD, to ensure that one day, the patriarchy falls. Peace doesn’t exist where Patriarchy does. Love doesn’t exist where Patriarchy does. It can’t. I believe that very strongly, and I fully intend to prove it in my lifetime. 360. Heidi Li,

You are fine. I need to maintain my optimism. It fuels me.

  361. PJ – Just as with W, Obama’s narcissism, immaturity and inability to deal with people who disagree with him scare me.

It does not augur well for dealing with foreign leaders. This was my main source of misgivings about Bush when he was campaigning – that he would have a disastrous foreign policy.

I see the same problems with Obama.

  362. madamab —

Sorry, but Hillary doesn’t need Viggo. She has Bill!!! Although maybe he was out of town

a little fantasy variety when the lights are out and the eyes are closed never hurt anyone!

  363. Sorry to be OT, but I’m psyched – The Denver Group just received its first post debate online contribution. I just had to share this news. I know everybody is tired and broke and it is so heartening to see people willing to find what they can (and I know some people can’t or are putting their resources elsewhere, which is of course fine) to help us get off the web and onto TV – because that IS where many of the swing voters are getting their input from.

  364. Little Isis, then it looks like you and me are going to be partners at that.

I actually plan to attend (god willing) the Clinton School of Public Policy for grad school. That would make myu life. Then I intend to work for the Foundation. Not a pipe dream. I mean it sincerely. Women and children are too little regarded because no one is really willing to speak for them but a choice few. It takes more than one activist to change the status of particular group. I’ll be one, you’ll be another. Between you, me, and the rest of our generation, something’s gotta move.

  365. Muslim men are frighteningly sexist, and both of Obama’s father figures were muslims. His treatment of women is scary. Michelle seems to outrank him in meanness, so she probably holds her own for that reason alone. He knows she’d eat him if he got out of line. He’s really a nerd.

  366. Hey – has anyone seen Carol Diamonds recently?

I saw her over at NOQ earlier today, and said, “Carol–whatcha doin’ over here?” She didn’t reply. Maybe she watched the debate on their thread.

I TOTALLY agree with you. I trust he will do his best to fix our country. Whether or not he can actually achieve it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that he will try.

  368. angienc – PJ AMEN sistas!

  369. Pat

I hope you worked a few loopholes into that Pre-nup. A lady has to look after herself you know!

Yep. It is the narcissism. No capacity for genuine empathy. That’s why O’B likes large crowds and pontificating.

  371. fif – I feel that also – the insincerity. He actually looks uncomfortable when he has to mix with ordinary people. He is always moving on, not looking at the person. You can see actual warmth and connection when Hillary or Palin meet people – even McCain seems warm compared to BO.

His really, to me, irritating habit (which Bush also does) is to constantly pat people on the shoulder, arm back, etc. This indicates that you think someone is below you in status and you may therefore take this liberty with them. (Adults to this to children too.)

  372. madamab, on October 15th, 2008 at 11:56 pm Said:
PJ – Just as with W, Obama’s narcissism, immaturity and inability to deal with people who disagree with him scare me.
It does not augur well for dealing with foreign leaders. This was my main source of misgivings about Bush when he was campaigning – that he would have a disastrous foreign policy.
I see the same problems with Obama.

He has always reminded me of W. From the very start, In his book, THE AUDACITY OF HOPE, which I read, he compliments Bush and the Republicans over and over. Supposedly it was all about “transcending politics”, but I know now that it is because he is just like them.
He IS Bush. With a “D” in front of his name.

  373. Second post debate contribution has arrived!

  374. Both Bush and Obama share similarities but what comes to my mind most often is that they are both spoiled brats. Few have ever said no to either of them so that sense of entitlement sustains them. Bush born to privilege, Obama the orphan.

Had enough people stood up to Bush and said no in the beginning, Iraq would never have happened. The same for Obama. Someone always caved in to his elusive “charm”.

  375. Lady de Rothschild and 19 of her friends had a fund raiser for Sarah Palin yesterday at 28,500 bucks each…in New York City. raised 500,000. that was encouraging.

  376. Heidi Li,

I don’t think that Senator Clinton will run for Governer here in New York. For some reason she wants to stay in the national arena even though her own party treats her like shit.

I love Senator Clinton and wish the best for her, but I am still very angry about the misogyny and primary election rigging. I’ve been a bit concerned about Senator Clinton’s over the top support for Obama and the party who treated her, women and democratic voters so badly during the primary.

Her recent behavior resembles a battered spouse who continues to stand by her man regardless of how much he abuses her. I love her, but my respect is growing a little thin. I am also concerned that the hightened misogyny and gender bashing by democrats during the primary and now against Palin will have a lingering affect for years to come. I worry that their behavior has set women’s progress back by decades and has changed the political landscape for women in politics for the worse. I’m beginning to think that it would have been better if she never ran.

  377. I think Carol said she was going on a trip to Canada today.

  378. I just donated to the Denver Group — everyone if you have a little extra, help Heidi get the word out about BO. She has been doing a Herculean effort to preserve real democratic principles.

  379. A friend just sent me this message: “Every moment this campaign continues, and each time HRC is interviewed or reported on is a reminder of what we all lost by the rigging of the election by Obama and the DNC. His best experience still remains his ability to win uncontested and rigged elections…”

  380. Congrats, Heidi Li. I wish I weren’t so broke.

Our Generation is not doing so good a job so far.
Regency, I am so proud of you. You and I will simply have to change the world by ourselves. With our other PUMAs aiding us.

And our Pantsuity wife shall cheer us on.

  385. MAB, you’re right. Obama seems to fare well only in environments where all and sundry are willing to kiss his hem. This isn’t the mark of a democratic leader, but rather of a demagogue, a type which the MSM seem suddenly and rather suspiciously willing to embrace. Scary stuff indeed.

  386. Kat5, Oh, no, now you made me want to have popcorn.

Pagan, I heard that about the latest turnaround for the lovely OH AG. I couldn’t believe her when she was defending herself last week. Her stance stinks, and I hope it goes through. Go Ohio!

And speaking of CNN, I saw Campbell Brown as she began to laugh her way through the debate polls, and I couldn’t watch — I can’t watch her anyway, but I was making the station rounds. You know I’m a pretty mellow gal, but I can’t stand her glee. God, I hope Obama loses just to burst her bubble. Sorry Heidi Li, I’ll be a good girl now.

  387. Let’s face it folks, given the damage Dubya has done to this country and the world, Sponge Bob, if he took a bath in blue dye, could have won this election going away. Instead, we have a phlegmatic, condescending neo-patrician who has easy-baked a campaign on a speech and an economic policy based in vote buying by giving 40% of Americans a check.

I have grown tired to the point of exhaustion with the chattering class saying, “If it was anyone else other than McCain this would be a run away election.” I look at it differently, if it was anyone other than BZero, it would be a run away election.

If Dubya didn’t teach us enough, will we ever learn?

  388. Okay, I am channeling fuzzy, it seems. Here is my good night thought:

I am so happy to see that so many of us, young, middle-aged and older, are so committed to fighting for gender equity. It is the fight of our lives, and there is nothing more important IMHO. My heart is warmed and comforted by your words. I want to name you all, but I’m sleepy and will forget someone, so just know that I admire and respect you all to no end.

What an amazing group we are. We will keep going, just like Hillary, and make great things happen.

Thanks to everyone for the laughter, the tears and the inspiration.

    Good night!

We know that everybody is broke. But here’s something that keeps me quite optimistic: so far October has been one of best fundraising months. JSND isn’t a great resource for us at the moment, I think, because folks over there are putting their resources directly into McCain Pailin – which is of course their choice. What The Denver Group is trying to do with Democrats for Principle Before Party is pick markets where we think Clinton Democrats need to get the word that they are NOT betraying the Democratic Party if they do not vote for Senator Obama.

  390. McCain won, not because he was smooth and glib, but because he said what I heard as the truth. I don’t have to listen to pundits to hear the truth for myself– none of us do. We have brains and can make up our own minds. Like Joe the Plumber. Go, Joe!!!!!

When watching Fox News, they displayed the “text” poll results so far. 87% said McCain won. Why is this significant? What is the typical age of the average “texter’? Older or younger? My guess is it’s the latter. Not too many 70 year olds that are into that. I found it to be an interesting demographic, since Obama claims to own the young vote.

KendallJ: I really disagree. This, unfortunately, is how change happens. Remember the Civil Rights era? The dogs, the fire hoses, the beatings. Hillary and Sarah have had the strength to put themselves in the line of fire, and I think the effects will be even more profound because they are so ideologically different. 430. I honestly think that some people are afraid to say
they are going to vote for McCain. Many people will call them racist if they vote for McCain. I think that is also why the media is not covering Obama as hard as they did HRC or McCain. I remember before the
DNC, Al Sharpton said the people will take to the streets if Obama is not the nominee. Many, many
delegates changed their minds about voting for HRC
and decided that Obama was the right choice even
though Hillary was winning the popular votes. I can’t believe she is working to get him elected, if he wins she will not be the nominee in 2012, and I am afraid that our dream of HRC being president will be gone.

Maybe I’m just feeling down. I hope you are right and progress will come. But today, I cannot look my little girl in the face and say, “see, you can be anything you want to be.” To the contrary, we have all been told by the democrats this year that girls are not allowed!!!

  440. What pisses mo off , is people …..very close to me ….will vote for OBAMA………\I have lost friends in V…..F….u …..all..

  441. Of course I didn’t vote for Obama as debate winner. This is just what I am talking about. It’s just nutz and insulting. I have only said I may vote for Obama because Hill and Bill keep saying focus on the advisors, etc., certainly NOT because I like Obama, though as many know I have walked back from that idea. Sorry Hill.

Anywho, I am here to ask Riverdaughter if she can tackle something for me at some point that is driving me crazy. I understand that some Hill supporters will vote BO because they just can’t stand the Republican ideology, ie any Dem is better than any Repub. What I CAN NOT understand is why they suddenly have to think Obama is such a great guy. I mean, this man is a sexist, he’s a liar, he used racism against Hillary, he diminished the record of the best President in my life, why do these people who saw what happened in the primaries now pretend Obama is some great guy? Why such cognitive dissonance? Anyway, it’s extremely frustrating. Interested in your thoughts. Perhaps you can post about this at some point.

  442. Princess — what time zone are you in?

  443. fif-yup, that would have been a CNN Poll — It’s funny, right after the debate, I thought FOX showed that Obama won and thought I was confused. Was I?

  444. “Even Joe the plumber thought Obama won.”

    Where has that been reported?

  445. Mark is making sh!t up — Joe the plumber said after talking to BO in person that the more he talked the more worried he got. A tie only means that with all the help in the world — the economy, the msm, millions of dollars, Obama still can’t close the deal. Because even people with only two brain cells to rub together can see that they just cannot trust Barack.

Do you have a life, or what?

  451. no way!

  453. Here is what Joe the Plumber actually said:

“McCain was solid in his performance,” he says. “I still don’t know where he stands,” he says of Obama. “I’m middle class. I can’t have my taxes raised any more.”

He also says he actually isn’t in the bracket where Obama would raise his taxes — but he’s worried that Obama will shift the bracket down.

He also said that, in his encounter with Obama, the Illinois Senator [has] “a tap dance…almost as good as Sammy Davis, Jr.”

I braved TL to find that for you all — I expect many thanks — and you will not be surprised to learn that Jeralyn thinks Joe is a r@cist for comparing Sammy Davis Jr. to Obama. Why? Yep, to compare a black man to another black man — even a world renowned multi-talented one like Sammy Davis Jr.– is r@cist. Funny how that doesn’t hold true when they falsely and disgracefully compare BO to MLK.

  461. Fox did lean Obama’s way. All they could talk about was Barkey’s style. That’s the danger–his style is so perfected no one can see clear to his lack of substance. McCain’s going to have to fight very, very hard to pull within distance…

  462. Josh — funny how you magnificent nitwits don’t understand that this is not about Hillary — this is about how Obama and the DNC used sexism, race-baiting and down-right vote stealing to crown BO the Dem. candidate & are using those very same tactics to try to win the GE. This is about not voting for a man whose supporters were CUNT in 5 inch letters on t-shirts to describe ANY woman — no matter what her policies. So, go take your “concern” about “women’s issues” to kos — they like hypocritical bullsh!t over there.

  463. Angienc — that’s great, thanks for getting it! I’m saving it along w/ your comment. ‘Nite all.

  464. RD — about the male appendage thingee…

  465. Little Isis,

I do and have supported Hillary and Bill Clinton for many years, including campaigning and contributing to their campaigns. I still support them both with all my heart. As for Palin, I am not a big supporter, but get angry about the misogyny hurled at her.

I am frustrated with the over-the-top support that Hillary, not Bill, has shown for Obama. It is painful to watch this wonderful women who is so much smarter, more experienced and more deserving than this fucking asshole Obama, carry his water after he and her own party screwed her the way they did. What is in it for her or us?

  466. You are welcome prolix! 🙂

  467. Welcome spclndsmom — glad you are here.

  468. you are welcome Lady Boomer. Ok, I’m going to bed for reals — no more fun playing with tr0lls. Night all!

  469. Angie, please spray your hazmat suit down too. Those people over there aren’t just crazy, they’re carriers too.

  470. I didn’t see the debate (working) but in the cab to the train I heard the Obama line about the 42,000 dollar earner and taxes (preceded the I am not Bush statement). My cab driver, from Nigeria, yelled at the radio when Obama said that he wasn’t raising taxes for the 42K:

” you lie, you lie! I make 50, 000 dollars and I look at your plan and you are taxing me!”

He then realized I was still in the cab – and said: ” I am from Nigeria and I know when these people lie.”

I am following the debate via all your comments here, and will watch it in the am.

  471. I am glad that this place is hopping and is pretty happy tonight. Over at Ace of Spades, it’s all been heaping lettuce onto McCain for not hitting on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Frankly, with all the rest of the crap that’s up on Obama, I don’t think it’s gonna be needed.

  472. Little Isis,
I do and have supported Hillary and Bill Clinton for many years, including campaigning and contributing to their campaigns. I still support them both with all my heart. As for Palin, I am not a big supporter, but get angry about the misogyny hurled at her.

I agree. I will say one more thing before I go to bed. Hillary wants to advance her agenda for this country and the DNC would destroy her if she came out against Obama. That is a common known fact. She is campaigning for him pretty hard, but I wouldn’t say her support is over the top. Hillary Clinton knows what she is doing, and in the primaries, she weakened Obama enough to give McCain room to beat him. The Democratic Party has been pretty Obamafied, and she remains on the outer fringes.
I am not mad at Hillary at all, and I believe she is doing the right thing. I don’t think Hillary is perfect, but I think she has demonstrated time and time again that she will always do what is best for this country. If ever you feel depressed, think of that.
    Good night. 🙂

  473. thx prolix 🙂

  474. I’ve been to bed already, but couldn’t get to sleep. I was depressed after the debate. McCain’s position on abortion and sending “troops” immediately into the classroom certification be da#ned etc. were disappointing to say the least. I had to get up and get on line to hear Conflucians speak. Thanks. You’ve definitely cheered me up.

I’m stuck in the concepts that 1) the presidency matters a great deal; and 2) I need to be for someone. When I can let go of these and look at the larger picture of what we’re working/fighting for – democracy, civil rights etc, I regain hope. The spirit, humor and wisdom here are responsible for the 3,563,663 hits

  475. Does anyone know if a person can challenge someone from their own party midterm? Could Hillary run in 2012 if Obama wins?

  476. Antigone, yes, she could. Probably not advisable barring anything unforeseen, but yes she could.

Two different party examples, Kennedy challenging Carter in 1980 and Reagan challenging Ford in 1976.

  477. Antigone, on October 16th, 2008 at 1:08 am Said:

Does anyone know if a person can challenge someone from their own party midterm? Could Hillary run in 2012 if Obama wins?

    *********

Yes. She could run in the primary. I can’t think of a time when that worked though. Obama would have to be very unpopular in his first term.

  478. “no-doz, on October 16th, 2008 at 12:35 am Said:
Even Fox’s focus group said Obama won. Tough news for the base here but you can at least dream that he got his a** handed to him.

On Nov 5, you’ll wake up and just think your life going forward is just a nightmare.”

    SHUT UP! I CAN’T DEAL.

  479. No way.

Best performance by Obama so far.

    I am becoming a fan.

    Wasn’t before.

    Oh and btw:

Think anyone who supports McCain is totally anti-feminist.

  480. Ooh, you can think? I wouldn’t have believed that given your previous statements. I still don’t think you can think.

Gee, supporting the woman over the guy who thinks women have abortions because they’re blue. God, I guess that didn’t require much thinking at all.

I think it’s really brave how you show up when there’s no one here. Then again, that’s like the rock star you’ve become a fan of.

  481. After reading about AAAG’s date with Roland, I think we should declare her PUMA of the day or sing her a cheerful song or something. Sorry to bring up those painful memories, AAAG. 🙂

  482. I thought Obama did his best job yet also. Still don’t trust him. And I don’t see him as being “presidential.” He doesn’t inspire confidence. It just seems like a debate of issues. I agree with Obama on most of the issues. Maybe he should be a senator. I would prefer that he and McCain remain in the Senate. Our parties have failed us.

  483. NoBlood, I know two groups of women who would disagree with you. First, the women who are paid on par with men in McCain’s office; and 2) the women who are paid approximately 25% less than men in BZero’s office.

  484. It’s funny, actually. It would still be in the realm of my understanding if someone became an Obama fan early on and then lost enthusiasm as more information came out about Obama’s character and his non-accomplishments. But it is beyond me how one who had not been a fan could become one now, when all that remains in Obama’s favor, after all is divulged, is his teleprompter.

  485. He’d be a great Senator if all Senators did was debate. Sadly, they actually have to legislate things, something he’s just piss-poor at doing.

  486. If I vote for McCain, it will be in the hopes that he will be balanced by a Democratic Congress. Or it will simply be a protest vote. The Democratic Party reinstates democracy in its primaries, or we need a new party.

  487. Did McCain mention the offensive T-Shirts? I think I saw that downthread some where.

Obama hasn’t even done that, has he? Has he ever fought or took a stand for something?

  488. Geez, I really messed up. I was replying to Regency. Take two:

He’d be a great Senator if all Senators did was debate

Obama hasn’t even done that, has he? Has he ever fought or took a stand for something?

  489. Regency, you’re right. I was being too generous. His self-promotion trumps all.

  490. Obama hasn’t even done that, has he? Has he ever fought or took a stand for something?

Of course he did. He took a stand for something only lawyers and criminals care about; don’t we just love catering to that gang?

(No offense to lawyers, I used to be want to be one.)

  491. Josh: Are you even listening to yourself? Is this how you talk to people when you’re not online? Is this what you say to people’s faces?

You act like we’re the ones with the problems but you’re the one who sought us just to insult us. What does that say about you?

  492. “I know two groups of women who would disagree with you. First, the women who are paid on par with men in McCain’s office; and 2) the women who are paid approximately 25% less than men in BZero’s office.”

Yeah, but the fact that Obama says that he’s in favor of equal pay, while paying his few female staff members less, means he’s actually more likely to enact equal pay because of the “shameless hypocrisy equals sincerity” rule. And don’t be fooled by the idea that since he seems resistant to paying his staff equally, it’s not exactly in his interest to make his own behavior illegal. His deep passion for female equality that lies underneath all his contrary behaviot ensures that this is the one issue on which he can be trusted.

  493. Seriously, I can’t stop laughing. Thanks!

  494. “Is this what you say to people’s faces?”

Reg, have you ever met any Obots? This is their idea of a winning campaign pitch.

  495. Seriously: I know but I can’t stop hoping they’ll have a “come to Reality” moment and wake up from the stupor.

  496. It’s really brave for one to try to argue with someone who has already said nitey-nite. Really brave.

  497. Seriously, what time zone are you in? You’re on a roll.

  498. Josh, you drop a turd and run off for 50 minutes then come back and drop another one. We will expect you back around 2:20. BTW, why don’t you just carry TP with you — it would certainly be more time efficient.

  499. “easy for you to support Republicans, since they share those traits. Have fun being full of hate and rage for the next 8 years”

Josh, do you know what irony is?

  500. purplefinn @ 1:10 am said : Yes. She could run in the primary. I can’t think of a time when that worked though. Obama would have to be very unpopular in his first term.

You mean unpopular like he is now after being President select for ten months?

Anyone think Bu$h is an O supporter since he isn’t going to do anything against corruption and Bu$h does not want all the skeletons to come out and him possibly be prosecuted?

  501. I’m on EST, purplefinn. And thank you. 🙂

  502. McCain won. I think fox said Nobama won so the obamastreammedia will have less to insult us with tomorrow. How can the sling thier usual insults if we say they won.

    McCain – Palin ’08

  503. Boo Radly, at 1:39 am Said: “You mean unpopular like he is now after being President select for ten months?”

    ********

Yes, he has gotten a head start on unpopularity in some circles. He does have a knack for getting ahead of himself!

  504. I think McCain, in tonight’s debate, went a long way toward shattering the “Obama myth.” Like when McCain threw back accusations of having nasty supporters at Obama and said that nasty things also go on at Obama’s rallies, but that, unlike him, Obama does not do anything to stop or correct his supporters.

  505. Boo, the problem is though, the Obots will have a hammerlock over the party if he wins. They’ll be able to rig the primary any way they want, and they’re not exactly shy about shameless abuse of power. God forbid he wins, he’ll never step down, and though she’d be able to beat him fair and square after a disastrous 4 years, they’d never allow that to happen. Plus, the Democratic brand would be so tarnished by then, she’d have a hell of an uphill climb in the general regardless.

  507. no doubt that McCain did the best job, and made Obuma sweat! however, a question that we must pose the media with is: how is it possible to become commander in chief if one (obuma) cannot qualify for a “secutirt clearance” check ?!

  508. He reenforced what people already know in their hearts. They’ve dealt with obama’s supporters irl, they know what they’re like. And they don’t trust the media, and McCain acknowledged that they’re right not to do so.

  509. Hi all, been busy the last week or so and not online much. Good solid debate tonight by John McCain. He has now teed up the main issues for the last three weeks of the campaign and now needs to drive them home between now and election day.

So much to say about the debate tonight, but I will focus on one area:

    small business/taxes

To give you an idea of how warped Obama’s logic is, in the debate tonight, Obama said (and I quote), “Ninety-Eight percent (98%) of small businesses make under $250,000 per year.”

    LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where does Obama pull these kind of voodoo numbers from? Obama intentionally lied because he wants to claim his tax plan will benefit small businesses, when in truth and in fact, it will cripple small business and kill jobs!

Talk about being out of touch with reality! Wow, Barry!

    Fact: Obama can’t be trusted!

Obama is a rookie when it comes to knowing how to create jobs and stimulate the economy. Obama’s radical tax plan is scary, bates motel scary.

Obama’s tax scheme would kill jobs and put our economy in a downward spiral.

Thank God John McCain is in this race and fighting for America! McCain knows that during tough economic times. the LAST thing you do is raise taxes! Obama just doesn’t get basic economics 101 and never will!

McCain’s plan will grow small businesses and create jobs! McCain’s plan will help improve the home foreclosure crisis! Obama is missing in action when it comes to providing a plan to grow the economy, increase jobs, and keep people in their homes.

Gallup poll is down to 3 points today. it is funny how some of the polls have Barry way in the elad. America is going to turn out in record numbers for McCain-Palin! McCain is coming back and will win this thing! I believe it 100%!

Keep the faith everyone and as Hillary said, keep going and never give up!

It is time for all Americans to stand up and fight for what we know is right!

  510. Speaking of the media, I am reminded of my disappointment with NPR during this election cycle. My opinion of Terry Gross has plumetted. My radio is usually glued at NPR, but today, I seriously thought of abandoning the station. They seem set on taking down Palin. Just this afternoon, Fresh Air had a journalist from Alaska talking about Palin, and of course, the picture painted of Palin was not pretty. I notice that this is how the media operate—they look for Alaskan journalists and interview them to “get to know” Palin. And I don’t think they’ve found a single journalist from Alaska who was unbiased in his opinion of Palin. I gotta hand it to Palin—for a very popular governor, she seems to have earned the ire of Alaskan journalists.

  511. Yaaaaawn! Some people are just really slow.

  512. Obama wore a red tie,. McCain wore blue. Obama is taller. McCain has greater stature. Obama is already Writing CHECKS, using your hard earned money. McCain is Stopping the mis-spending. I want joe’s phone number kind of … So McCain did wipe the table top with o’s shirt. yup.

  513. Britannia, me too. I emailed NPR both on its bias toward Obama in regard to Clinton and again re Palin. The BBC has favored Obama, PBS – all my favorite media resources.

NPR responded to me each time. At least they were listening.

I emailed Charlie Rose twice but received no reply. He just couldn’t get his mind around the sexism the MSM was exhibiting toward Hillary when Ed Rendell tried to explain it to him.

I haven’t heard Fresh Air in a while. I thought Terry might be for Obama.

  514. Seriously – it seems “his” people already have a hammerlock on the media, D “leadership”, and the vapid amongst us. No rules/laws/tenants that were used in the past, have been applied to this selected candidate yet. I don’t think those nagging little details like rules or laws would kick in if he was appointed POTUS.

IS “O” Bu$h’s revenge for me and a million others saying for the last 7 years – “the bar has been set so low by Bu$h” – he found someone who is more of a corrupt figure than he is. Is there anyone breathing who does not read the greed and pretentiousness of the two – B & M Obama? These are not people who want to service this country or it’s people. These are people who want serviced.

Compare Hillary and Bill Clinton’s history, words and deeds or even the McCains. Who knew that Cindy had done so much charity work.

  515. Look, we get it, Whole Foods nation hatez b——, poor people, and Democratic principles. That’s fine, but you don’t need to dress it up, okay? Just come right out with it, because your attempts to justify your support for the Man from FISA and all his Bushesque rhetoric and flip flops fall into two catergories, lame and lamer. I mean, *I* understand how Barack’s stupidity, incompetence, contempt for democracy and meglomania are “teh awesome!!!” while Bush’s were super uncool (DUDE, a c—– Sec of State???? NUHHHH! I wanna play war–no bixtches ALLOWED!”) and how Barack’s attempts to curtail our civil liberties and play footsie with whole new breed of corrupt hacks would also be like ZOMG, way different, and all changey, that dude was old!!!–but I’m special. Most people just don’t appreciate all the nuances.

  516. purplefinn, I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed, and that I wasn’t imagining things. I’m also glad you emailed them. I should do that, too.

  517. “Joe the Plumber” Talks with NBC 24 News

    By Ryan Fowler
    Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 1:59 a.m.

His named was mentioned more than 20-times during the final presidential debate on Wednesday…“Joe the Plumber” of Holland, Ohio. He’s a single father who describes himself simply as average.

Joe Wurzelbacher spoke with Senator Barack Obama during a campaign stop in Toledo Sunday. Wurzelbacher told the Illinois Senator his (Obama’s) tax plan would prevent him (Joe) from buying the business that currently employs him.

During Wednesday’s debate Senator John McCain used “Joe the Plumber” as an example of how small business owners would suffered under Obama. In the matter of a 90-minute debate, “Joe the Plumber” became an overnight sensation that will forever be linked to the 2008 presidential race.

NBC 24’s Ryan Fowler spoke one-on-one with “Joe the Plumber” shortly after the debate wrapped.

Reaction to hearing his name mentioned during the debate: “I was astounded to hear my name on national television spoken by a presidential candidate. I mean it floored me,” Joe Wurzelbacher.

Being an “average Joe”: “I get up every morning at 4:30 and I go to work. I don’t get home until 6 or 7. I cook dinner. I do homework with my son. I do yard work on the weekend. That’s a typical day and I live in a typical middle class neighborhood. I’m pretty much just average. I like to live a simple life,” Joe Wurzelbacher.

On all the attention he’s gotten since the debate wrapped: “I’ll have my 15-minutes. Come November 4th, depending on who wins, if McCain wins I might have another day or two out of it. If Obama wins then I’ll be a footnote maybe at the most I won’t be recognized again and that will be fine with me,” Wurzelbacher.

Reaction to talking with Obama about his proposed tax plan: “I wasn’t impressed. In fact, it upset me. For someone to sit there and say you’ve done too good, and I’m going to penalize you now. In essence that’s what he said. I’m paraphrasing, but you done too good; I want some more of your money now. That’s wrong. That’s wrong across the board and I can’t imagine someone not agreeing with that. I can’t imagine America not agreeing with that,” Wurzelbacher.

His advice to other voters: “Do your own homework. Don’t sit there and take your friends’ advice. Don’t sit there and take TV’s advice. Do your own homework. Find out what you really want instead of what your union steward wants, what anyone wants. That’s my biggest thing right there. Do your own homework,” Wurzelbacher.

Although it seems Wurzelbacher supports McCain, he refuses to say who he plans to vote for come November 4th.

  518. Therefore – Obama goes 3 – 0 in debate victories.
And Hilary gave a great afterword for Obama in the spin rom
She actually referred to Barack as President Obama!

    Sweet!!

  519. Brit, NPR did a hilarious hit piece on palin right after she was picked–it was (cue scary music) Yes, Palin DID cancel the bridge to nowhere–but, she used the money to fund legitimate vridge and road projects! Furthermore, she met the man who proposed the bridge at a fundraiser–and was polite to him, rather than kill him with her bare hands!!!!! LOL

Boo, our on;ly hope is if he loses. This is the Democratic Party’s last stand. The only way to clean house, otherwise we’re pretty much finished as a party.

  520. Anyone notice the smell of troll flop in here now”

  521. “She actually referred to Barack as President Obama!”

And he can hold that in his heart always, especially when she calls him into the Oval and dresses him down 4 years and three months hence. He can also ask teh staff at MickeyD’s to call him that, who knows, they might agree.

  522. Anyone notice the smell of tr@ll flop in here now?

  523. Night. Peace and goodwill to all!

  524. McCain looked down right snarky and mean.
Obama – Presidential, smart and reassuring.

I liked what Hillary said about Obama after the debate: : She called him “President Obama” and he “will fight for the middle class and end the eight years of detrioration from Bush!”

    Go Hilary!!!
    Hillary 2016

  525. They get paid more to spread talking points after a big event.

  526. Seriously, good rant. 🙂

I never did get why the bridge to nowhere and also the ebay jet turned out to be such embarrassments. If the comeback was that Palin stopped the bridge because it was unpopular, so what? Isn’t that what good politicians do? Palin actually explained on Charlie Rose that she stopped it because it was getting too expensive and the state had to come up with the rest of the money. She also said flat out that the state got to keep the money.

And the jet didn’t sell on eBay. So what? Palin’s motivation cannot be questioned. eBay didn’t work so it had to be sold by another means. Why the hell was that such a big deal and worthy of endless internet bandwidth?

  527. You know he did badly when a ton of bots show up to “gloat.”

Dude, use your head and read the entire thread before you comment. Hillary’s not gonna say your guy bombed because then you’ll egg her house. She’ll say whatever it takes to put the Baby Bots to sleep.

And she’s said President Obama before. Oddly enough a lot more Democrats have said “President McCain.” Guess they’re getting used to it. You should too.

  528. susansaysso, on October 16th, 2008 at 2:15 am Said:
“Obama wore a red tie,. McCain wore blue.”

Curious. I guess Obama didn’t get the memo from Al Sharpton that wearing a red tie is a “code” so r@cists can recognize each other (a charge he aimed at Republicans in 1982 because they’d taken up a habit of wearing a blue suit, white shirt, and red tie to party functions– you know— red, white, and blue?).

  529. What moron actually thinks the Democrats would regain the White House 8 years of Barack Obama? It’s like LaLaLand up there. The Democrats are ethically toast. We should be glad if we keep the Senate.

  530. Steve– you actually think that Bill Kristol and Juan Williams are McCain SUPPORTERS?????????

    ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!

  531. Steve, do you get paid by the word now? Seriously, we know, we know, “c—– can’t be President.” You’re going to get carpal tunnel and even $7/word won’t pay for teh treatments under Obama’s crap health care for astroturfers plan.

Same guy, do you get paid the same amount for each identical comment? Hmmmm….if I can’t sleep anyway, maybe I should try to cash in a little bit….

  532. purplefinn, what’s with all the peace and goodwill stuff? Don’t you know that, like the rest of us, you’re supposed to be hateful and bitter and depressed and full of suicidal thoughts? C’mon now, we have a reputation to protect. Anyway, sweet dreams.

  533. Irony is dead.

    So is Democracy.

I’m thinking Double Plot Burial. Yes? Yes?

  534. mamapajamas, IMO, bill kristol is in an elite glass bubble and is too wrapped up in his “professional and educated” opinions. personally, i can’t relate to any of his opinions, it’s all garblygook to me. i’m not trying to put down ppl in the elite DC circles as i like some of them. so it’s not that i don’t like them, it’s just that i don’t think their opinions are as important as they might think they are.

  535. Obama is so awesome. He is adorable when he lies. When he does that scary smirk thing Bush does, i start licking my screen….is that okay? Do you have dental?

  536. Regency – I feel the same way you do about anything that Hillary “has” to say now. After all she has done for us – all those states she won – God knows what they were saying and still saying to her.

She was the only hope for me this year. I started supporting Edwards but the more I listened to Hillary, the more I watched her – she was/is so graceful under fire – so brilliant and wonky. I miss her. I watched some of the debate just to be able to see her but I did n’t get to.

By the way, how do you do school so well and stay up all night like you did last night here?

  537. Yeah, see what happens when Obama gets whupped? The psychology of obots is really amazing. I mean, what do they think they are accomplishing by posting here? Besides making a fool of themselves?

  538. So now Joe the Plumber is a “plant” who “just happened” to be chosen by the One for a question, and the One walked into the trap set by the nefarious Illuminati (or whoever). After all, Joe “talks like a pundit” and “parrots or follows his owners instructions.”

    Paranoia, thy name is STEVE!

You are a really FUNNY guy!

  539. spcl.nds.mom– precisely my point. Kristol is lost in his own little world of self-delusion. 😉

  540. Meany: Did I say Hillary was doing it for the money? Nope. Since she’s gotten no money. Did I say she was doing it for respectability? Nope. I said she was doing it because she gave her word. That is a fact. Do not put words in my mouth. It’s needless and frankly just as duplicitous as your candidate.

Dude, no one’s asking you stay. By all means, go.

  541. Steve, Joe is first off an American citizen, so already he’s disgusting. Like the dregs of humainty disgusting. Second, he probably doesn’t hat bitches. Third, I can tell by looking at him that he shops at Publix. Third, gun toting religious hick, I’m guessing cuz of the gross American part. It’s just nasty.

Vote for us, you disgusting subhumans we hate! You disgusting, hillbilly trained dogs! Why TF wouldn’t you want to vote for us, since you;re so lucky we’re letting you! Crawl!

  542. Regency– exactly. As a Republican, I have no real love for Hillary, but I can admire her desire to stick to a principled point.

  543. Mamapajams: That’s all I ask. She gave her word repeatedly and she’s been faithful to that word.

  544. Unless you did really well in school, I would think twice about engaging Regency in a debate, especially about the Clintons. Fair warning to all you out there. If you’re uninformed, you lose. Just sayin’…

  546. Have any of you been to Steve’s site? It’s full of misogyny and disrespect towards women in general. He falls right into Obama’s base so it’s not surprising that he’s hear spewing lies about Hillary Clinton while ignoring the sexism and disenfranchisement from Obama during the primary.

  547. Britannia: 😉 Thanks.

DV: Not surprising. That’s the sort of people he attracts.

  548. Yup– I know committment when I see it. She’ll be back to her normal self when all this is over and the One has been sent running back to the rest of the Chicago thugs. 😉

It’s nearly 3am here. Nite, all.

  549. LOL, Seriously, you’re really good at this! I don’t think the obots understand you, though.

  550. Awesome news guys–I just earned $100,000!

dave said my 2:50 was the most persuasive comment in Obot astroturfing history. heey’re putting it on the website, on all the literature, having T-shirts made up–and it’s going to become the new slogan on the Great Seal of the United States!

    I’m so proud! *snifs*

“SHE SUPPORTS BARACK OBAMA – PERIOD”

Yes, she supports the corrupt Chicago a—– who accused her of trying to assassinate him, intimidated and disenfranchised voters, is destroying the Democratic Party by constantly embracing Republican talking points, ran Harry and Louise ads to kibosh any hope for health care reform, which, unlike this opportunistic a—–, who has no principles and nothing he wnats to do as President, she actually cares about, and attacked her husband for the crime of being a Democrat (which doesn’t help the party one iota?). She supports him because she wnats to see everything this party is suposed to stand for go down teh drain.

  551. Night, Mamapajamas.

Brit: They don’t have to. I’m not in it for them. I’m in for the people who watch them say stupid stuff that goes unanswered. Criticism I can handle, but lying pisses me off. I’ve got the Clintons like the back of my hand. Do not come at me with bullshit and expect me not to retaliate.

  552. regency, i think you’re right. i think she’s simply honoring her word. i wasn’t crazy about hillary before everything went down between her and obama. but in the end, i had a new found admiration/respect for her endurance and gracefulness.

  553. Brit: Ha, I missed the “Seriously.” That name messes me up all the time. Sorry! Ignore me.

  554. “It’s full of misogyny and disrespect towards women in general.”

DV, I don’t want to say, duh, but…lol The Obot raison d’etre. Find one who has a reason to support Barky apart from his penis, and you’ll know you’ve been transported to an alternate universe.

  555. spcl.nds.mom, on October 16th, 2008 at 2:59 am Said:

Believe me, I know. I was actually more of a fan of Bill at first but as I got know her I liked her a lot more–as you can probably tell.

  556. regency, 🙂

  557. I was being sarcastic there. She does *not* want to see everything this party stands for go down the drain thanks to Obama.

  558. spcl.nds.mom: And here I thought I was being discreet about it. With my five buttons, including one vintage ’92 Clinton-Gore campaign pin. I never devote myself halfheartedly to things.

  559. No, what you said is important:

I’m in for the people who watch them say stupid stuff that goes unanswered

There are probably many readers of this blog out there who never comment, so it’s important to give the correct information, and to say reasonable, thoughtful things. I’ve often thought about this.

  560. Seriously: I figured.

Okay, now I’ve stalled for too long. I have to go read Thucydides for discussion class tomorrow. Can you hear the enthusiasm in this post? Is its absence glaring? Why must I read about a bunch of men pretty needlessly going to war? *headdesk*

It’s been a pleasure. To all the pleasant guests, thank you for the conversation. Please come again. To all my buds, see ya in the morning. To all those other folks, don’t let the spam filter hit ya on the way out.

    Good night.

  561. Brit: That said, sometimes it isn’t worth the aggravation. Gotta learn to choose your battles. I’m still trying to learn.

  562. Ace it, Regency!

*goes off to look up Thucydides*

  563. I felt the need to clarify for the next idiot troll who wanders in and starts whining about HRC wanting to see everything the party stands for go under. Oooh, scary.

  564. I felt the need to clarify for the next idiot tr oll who wanders in and starts whining about HRC wanting to see everything the party stands for go under.

  565. Seriously, what was that you said? Did you say idiot?

  566. “As.just like the average joe, you are uneducated about what you speak on, yet do it with an arrogance of higher education.”

Elitism from an obtuse illiterate… tres amusant!

  567. “As a teacher (both college and middle school now after 15 years as a HS teacher and counselor) that is not socialism, by any classical definition (try progressive tax Joe! read about it…)”

You exemplify everything that is miserably lacking in education. Stay far, far away from academia.

  568. Poor Joe. I wonder why he’s getting picked on.

  569. Poor tuition-paying kids.

  570. Steve, we know, we know, you hate your mommy. Please, please, save your strength, you’re going to need it in 19 days when high school nerds with poor social skills and high senses of entitlement will rule over us like GODS.

Think of it Steve, you’ll be able to punish Joe and all others with marketable skills who have known the touch of a woman. Who’ll be giving the wedgies then? Who’ll be poking people with pocket protectors? We will rue the day we ever made fun of you for wiping your nose on your shirt when we’re tied up and you’re wiping the snot on us instead.

The new world order–be afraid. Be very afraid, my friends.

  571. Brit, Joe is “getting picked on” by the obots precisely because he is a member of that middle class about which the obots are so ardently concerned.

  572. Steve is also planning on starring in his own version of “Why isn’t Johnny learning?” The people of America are delighted that a teacher who could produce that last paragraph is going to be teaching their kids literacy skills.

  573. Oh, oh, I almost forgot. I heard on public radio this morning (told you my radio was glued to NPR) that Obama is the first presidential candidate to buy ads in video games. Apparently, his political ads get embedded in the video games when updates of the games are downloaded. I was surprised when it was mentioned that the target audience were males from 18 to 35 years of age. I mean, 35 year olds still play video games?

  574. Yep, Joe is a nice middle class person, or in Obotville, “Public Enemy Number One.” They think of him the way deluded unenlightened fools think of domestic terrorists.

  575. Well, I guess it depends on the 35 year old. Lots of 35 year olds these days aren’t doing the whole marriage and kids thing yet, and probably have a younger single lifestyle. Single people have time for gaming.

  576. “The people of America are delighted that a teacher who could produce that last paragraph is going to be teaching their kids literacy skills.”

    LOL!

  577. What’s really scary is that someone who is obviously so hateful, and goes out of his way to show it, has been, and still is, teaching kids.

  578. Brit, Joe is “getting picked on” by the obots precisely because he is a member of that middle class about which the obots are so ardently concerned.

Tee-hee! If Jane Austen were alive, she’d make a killing out of all the novels she could make out of this election cycle.

  579. “What’s really scary is that someone who is obviously so hateful, and goes out of his way to show it, has been, and still is, teaching kids.”

Oh yeah, I think we want people with Steve’s issues hanging around female teenagers and determining whether or not they’ll get into college.

  580. Brit,
“What’s really scary is that someone who is obviously so hateful, and goes out of his way to show it, has been, and still is, teaching kids.”

More troubling still is that he was a counselor! Rest assured we needn’t worry about the objective input with which he provided his students…

    Steve,
“As a teacher (both college and middle school now after 15 years as a HS teacher and counselor) that is not socialism, by any classical definition (try progressive tax Joe! read about it…)”

So in other words, “I was employed in all these capacities, so I know”…. Ex cathedra arguments are rubbish.

  581. Yup, sounds like hate all right. Only, he’s really confused as to who is ignorant and stupid. Full of himself, isn’t he? Wonder how he got to teaching adults. Adults believe this?

  582. she talked too reckless” talk slick about someones mother History holds me correct some of which will

Um, so what is it you teach, again? Does it have the word “remedial” in there somewhere? Does most of your teaching take place when the real teacher leaves the room and you play let’s pretend? Yes, Steve, you are clearly a genius, if only it were recognized by inferior intellects who can spell and use standard English. People like Joe.

Some nerds aren’t hated on so much because they’re smart as because they’re creepy. I wonder which group YOU fall into?

Let’s see–did you feel that the invention of the internet was a personal validation because it allowed you to actualize your revenge fantasies? How much time do you spend google bombing women who’ve turned you down? Did you come to Obama through your D&D group? Did you go for the cheetos and stay for the misogyny?

  583. Steve
I couldn’t care less who you claim to teach. If you are going to condescend to others about their level of education or lack thereof, you ought to express yourself in a manner befitting of your asserted erudition.

Thus far, you have only given evidence that your position in the field of education is doing nothing to benefit this county. In short, you are probably wrecking it.

Lastly, your lecturing me about what constitutes an argument is almost amusing. A first year course in basic logic would defeat you.

  584. This is so sad. America is full of morons like Steve who now think they’re in the inner circle. Sorry, Steve, but see, Obama went to Harvard and Kerry went to Yale, and they both think you’re a creepy moron too, because you kind of are. Even if there is a D&D circle at the WH, you won’t be invited, because well, you’re subliterate and you scare Michelle, plus if you were there they couldn’t spend all their time laughing at disaffected dupes like you.

But in your own parents’ basement–you’re still the MAN, Steve! You’re a god, for real. And mommy knows it, when you tell her to do teh laundry, you watch her snap to.

  585. Seriously,
“Even if there is a D&D circle at the WH, you won’t be invited…”

    LMAO!

  586. I was on here to also say that Barack and Hillary would never run together, precisely for the reason she talked too reckless in the primaries.

That there says how insightful this person is. And he claims credit for it.

    You crack me up, Seriously!

  587. “Democracy” doesn’t work because this country isn’t one. If you can find a founding father who applied that name to our government, name him. If not, go back to the public trough and leave us alone.

  588. Let me give a sobering picture to people:

    We’re at Germany 1932.

  589. Steve, the endless parade of grammatical errors that invariably ensues when an Obot tries to prove his superior intelligence and hates on people like Joe for being stupid has been fun, but it’s late, don’t you have a wife–

    BWAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Uh, I’m sorry, I mean, don’t you have a nice blow up doll who’s lonely? Unlike actual living human beings, she probably didn’t graduate from second grade, and therefore maybe she could actually benefit from your “advanced” “teaching.” Use the chalk, Steve.

  590. You too can leech off the taxpayers, not know what form of government we have, barely know how to speak English, not know how pronouns work, call perfectly intelligent adults stupid and call yourself an educator.

    Only in America.

  591. This is really fascinating. Why would anyone purposely go to other people’s safe haven, uninvited, late at night, and persist in annoying those people who are not really interested in having a conversation with him? Do people at Cheetos go to bed really early?

  592. Steve
I pointed out that you made an ex cathedra argument. I never made a claim concerning a logic fallacy.

That an individual refrains from voting is not an indicator of their level of education.

Any “argument” you forward regarding McCain is of no consequence if I don’t support McCain… LOL!

Steve, I am going to provide you with an example of an argument and then I am going to recommend a text that might help remedy your deficiencies in the arena of critical thinking.

    Proof: You are a no-count.
1)If you have the properties of a zero, you are a no-count.

2)a. anything + Steve = ONLY that anything AGAIN
    b. anything * Steve = 0
    c. Steve has never been cut into peices, so Steve/anything is undefined.
[I’ve probably left out a property, but it’s late.]

    That is,
3)standi has the properties of Zero
    4)by modus ponens standi is a no-count.

    Quad erat demonstrandum.

Notice: even if the antecedent was false, the conditional is still true, i.e. you are still a no-count (gotta love material conditionals)

Now, go out and purchase David A. Conway’s The Elements of Reasoning, and then come back.

  593. Until this overeducated imbecile can demonstrate that he knows what form of government we have, I wish he’d just stick his head back in the public trough and leave it there a while.

  594. Holy Cow, I wake up in the middle of the night to find out that some troll highjacked the thread.

Remember – Don’t feed the Trolls.

  595. Brit, when people see Steve coming they tend to duck down dark rat infested alleyways to get away from him. This is his only chance to talk to other humans. Actually, he was hoping we’d all be gone and he could have a discussion with himself using several different sock puppets. He always tells himself that no one will talk to him because they’re just not smart enough, but he he’s SOOO smart he always finds something fascinating to discuss with himself.

johninca–do you really think Steve is a professor? Of what?

Ooh, Steve! Zinger! Keep it up, you’re doing great! We peons only wish that we lived in that ivory tower with such gems as “haterade,” though we can only dream. Can you give us a “God made Adam and Eve, NOT Adam and Steve,” while you’re up there? (And Steve, um, everyone in the ivory tower DOES tend to laugh a lot when you’re around, don’t they? Total coincidence, I assure you ;))

  596. Johninca:

Clearly, someone didn’t read bostonboomers post on elitism. “Public trough?” Seriously?

  597. Holy Cow, I wake up in the middle of the night to find out that some tr*ll highjacked the thread.

    Remember – Don’t feed the Tr*lls.

  598. Steve
    “ITS OVER YOU LOST…”

If it is true that we lost, why would you bother wasting time here?

Steve, even if Obama wins, it wont be the redemptive event that all of you benighted souls think it will be. The “mission” will be over and you will still be you, a no-count.

  599. I think Steve is a sufficient condition for being a no-count.

  600. Actually, he was hoping we’d all be gone and he could have a discussion with himself using several different sock puppets.

    OMG! Too funny!

  601. What’s wrong with public trough? Anybody have a better term for arrogant boobs who leech off the very public they insult and consider stupid?

  602. Steve
“IF you are going to quote the book, recognize that they come from Munson, who is co-authoring the book… ”

Steve, I cited it off the top of my head. This is a casual forum. I’m not going to pull books off my shelf for a pedantic moron (that is you, Steve).

Furthermore, I am glad you bothered to look the book up. The next step is to read it.

  603. “you are hear”

Steve, your arguments are just too advanced. They really are. For a while, considering disturbed 1 year olds are Obama’s chief demographic, I thought you were the kid in high school who eats raw chicken and rubs his hands over his pants when he sees girls, and who would, maybe, pose as a professor on the internet to make himself feel better about his life and keep up the charade that people don’t like him because they’re just inferior.

Now I know how much I have wronged you. You are the professor of beer bongs and bitch hating and war games. You are TEH AWESOME, baby! And if the whole ” I can’t be as pathetic as everyone who’s met me thinks if someone as stupid and disturbed as I can win the WH” thing desn’t work out, then please don’t start idoloizing the Columbine kids. They’re not heroes, Steve, no matter how much they remind you of yourself.

  604. Remember – Don’t feed the Tr*lls.

    Well… 😉

  605. “Furthermore, I am glad you bothered to look the book up. The next step is to read it.”

That wouldn’t be the next step for Obama or Bush, so Steve doesn’t have to either. Emphasizing “reading” means that girls who actually bother to do it have an advantage–that’s why our public schools are failing boys!

john, seriously, there’s no way someone this dumb could be a professor. How could he make it through grad school? “You are hear”?

  606. Seriously, he didn’t say he was a professor. He said he taught college. It seems to escape him that his behavior and incoherence make that claim hard to believe. But then again, lousy colleges do exist, I guess.

  607. Steve, did you become a minister by mail order and now you think you’re a doctor of divinity?

Who is located in this vacinity…

  608. “I teach FROM it, so I know.”

    ROTFLMFAO!!!

Well, Steve, I certainly don’t teach from it. LOL!

  609. ok…..stevie………..go wash your hands ……..then put your jammy’s back on ……& We’ll tuck you beddy bye..bring you your nummies … and leave a light on for you ……….o.k…?????????????

    feel better now ….. ???

    NIte little stevie …

  610. Brit, even to teach college you need basic literacy skills. How could he have ever GRADUATED from college? There’s no way. “I can sum up the people here extremely easy.”

  611. I thought that actual discussion could happen here, but thanks for proving my point.

That is such a laughable and obvious lie. How do you expect us to believe that when your first comment on this thread was the following? You’re so stupid you can’t even make up a good lie. Why don’t you email this to your students, then maybe they’ll have the concrete evidence they need to report you to the school administration as a certifiable nut. Oh, but wait, you’re anonymous, so they won’t know who you are. You’re a nut and a coward. Your students must laugh at you behind your back.

The consumers here at this blog are incredibly funny. Especially because your votes will not matter in the general sense. I can sum up the people here extremely easy.

    1) Depressed Hillary supporters. The first one to play dirty politics by attacking connections instead of debating politics. She was the one who turned the race into the tried and true old school mudslinging contest.

    2) Delusional Hillary supporters…

At least she is honest in assessing her chances of becoming president… slim and none

    http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,24502592-663,00.html
The former First Lady said she was not interested in being nominated for the US Supreme Court, or becoming the next majority leader of the Senate.

On her chances of running again for the White House, she said: “Probably close to zero. There’s an old saying, ‘Bloom where you’re planted’.”

The people who think that she has a snowball chance in a very warm place that McCain has waiting for him soon, wake up and smell the coffee. She is not going to be president, she knows it and maybe you should too.

    3) Willing to do anything Hillary supporters

Lets not forget her ability to disenfranchise voters in Nevada. The Nevada State Education Association is widely seen as filing a suit on Clinton’s behalf to stop Las Vegas’ most powerful union, Culinary Workers Local 226, from caucusing inside downtown casinos after the union endorsed Barack Obama. The tactic foments a split along racial and class lines in arguably the strongest union city in America.

so, yeah its not about race, until I can exploit it, its not about gender until I can turn it to an advantage for me. So, grab your ball and your best crying hankie and join us in welcoming the next president of the U.S. Barack Obama.

P.S. McCain got crushed in the debate on the arguments and the substance. Its funny how you feel that FOX, which as we all know, is fair and unbiased, and they give the debate to McCain

    Steve
    http://2oldformaxim.wordpress.com/

  612. what about that post makes him a nut?

  613. i mean the spelling and punctuation is suspect, but this be the internets

    (please see “ROFL!!!!!!” etc.)

  614. Uh, Steve, you can thank your lucky stars that your posts are going to be dusted soon, because if you showed them to your pretend “students,” your pretend “bosses” would fire you and hire someone who can read.

  615. “but that is the same thing that your campaign did to THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.”

Steve, does your university have free mental health screenings? We promise we won’t let any c—- touch you, we just want you to get the help you need. If you come in, we’ll even call you ‘professor,’ really we will…

  616. Brit, even to teach college you need basic literacy skills. How could he have ever GRADUATED from college? There’s no way. “I can sum up the people here extremely easy.”

Seriously, tonight’s tr0ll just might be evidence of how far standards have diminished.

  617. Steve,

Sincerely, if you wish to persuade others of your position, you ought to appeal to that which has sway with them.

In all earnestness, I really do hope that you read that book.

  618. Can’t blame him, jvsp. He’s been schooled at Obama camp.

  619. Freedom of speech means they have to hire you when 5 years olds from the university day care center are wandering in and correcting what you’ve written on the board? Wow, I did not know that. So universities must hire any random person who applies and is breathing, regardless of how stupid he is? Good for you, you lucked out there, Steve.

“Maybe it McCain had elected the RIGHT women”

Um, he didn’t elect anyone and it’s woman not women, but, um, yes, you take your infinity to your real job with your real students and you can all have a good laugh! I’m sure you get amazing ratings on ratemyprofessor and everybody learns a great deal. You go, Steve. We’re all properly chastened and we envy you now.

  620. Britannia
“Can’t blame him, jvsp. He’s been schooled at Obama camp.”

    Don’t you mean indoctrinated? 🙂

  621. “my job is not a tenure track job”

You don’t say! I find that very hard to believe. It’s a crime, Steve. You’re being robbed. Chalk it up to Affirmative Action, they’re hiring those upp ity bit ches over you just because they’re smart and qualified and capable and all.

But Steve, you really shouldn’t hide your light under a bushel. Why not take all of your brilliant insights directly to Hillary? I’m sure through experience she thinks Obots are drooling subliterate morons with severe emotional issues who hate their mommies. You’re the only one who can cut her down to size, Steve. When she hears from you, she’s bound to be consumed with envy and feel really bad about her life. Do it for America, Steve. I think she is enjoying her Senate seat, so you go put her on notice, baby. That’ll show her.

  622. Senator (big) Government lost. Mccain won.

    MCCAIN/PALIN 08

  623. Good thing that you are here to MISS the substance of the post.

Ya gotta admit—it’s hard not to miss it.

Lord have mercy on your students.

I have a dare for you, too. I dare you to print out this entire thread before your comments get deleted, distribute copies to your students, and tell them that you were commenting as Steve. I dare you.

  624. “Brit and Britannia”

Um, yeah. Brit and Britannia are two different people. Jesus, you’re a moron.

  625. Steve
“darn it, just like McCain, and Hillary to run a clean campaign, I made a mistake… that should be press my shirts.”

Go play Russian roulette with a clip loader. It’s something at which you can win.

    McCain/Palin 2008
    HRC 2012

g’night, Brit and Seriously (don’t cudgel his self-esteem too much)!

  626. Night jvsp!

  627. Brit–too bad Irlandese wasn’t here! She would have enjoyed it!

  628. I like women, even under qualified ones like sarah palin or hillary. they should just know their place.

Bingo! We have a winner, folks!

  629. Seriously, yeah, and angienc and myiq, too. 🙂

  630. Steve, please stop wasting time here and go to Hillary. When the Secret Service shows up, they’ll have no choice but to talk to you, and I want you to know what it’s like to have a real friend. Or as close as you’re ever going to get, anyway.

  631. Oh angie! yeah! but myiq doesn’t like it when we talk to trolls. Actually, everyone is going to be mad at us since we’re not supposed to, but back me up–isn’t it hard not to when no one else is here? They keep talking, and it becomes so tempting to respond, then 400 comments later.

Plus…if myiq were here, this would never have happened, so we can blame him! 😉

  632. Oh angie! yeah! but myiq doesn’t like it when we talk to tro lls. Actually, everyone is going to be mad at us since we’re not supposed to, but back me up–isn’t it hard not to when no one else is here? They keep talking, and it becomes so tempting to respond, then 400 comments later….

Plus…if myiq were here, this would never have happened, so we can blame him!

  633. Actually, everyone is going to be mad at us since we’re not supposed to, but back me up–isn’t it hard not to when no one else is here? They keep talking, and it becomes so tempting to respond, then 400 comments later….

Yeah, I’ve been feeling pretty guilty because of all the cleanup. But, hey, I’ll back you up any time! 🙂

6:00 AM! East Coasters, rise and shine!

  634. Plus…if myiq were here, this would never have happened, so we can blame him!

    Yeah! 🙂

  635. Aw, thanks Brit. You too, Britannia!

Oh Scarecrow, I think I’ll miss you most of all. We get some of the lowest quality tr olls in all cyberspace, but you are by far the best ever. Good luck, Steve. I hope this battle can be immortalized in D&D, I hear your translator kicks UNTOLD amounts of @ss.

PS–Has anybody ever told you you’re taking this whole thing very hard? It’s just an election, Steve, you don’t get a doorprize regardless of what happens. The joy of your amazing career will have to do.

  636. LOL, Seriously! I’m so confused as to my identity now.

But gawd, why do tr0lls do this? They really do need someone to talk to, don’t they?

  637. We’re like therapists to the mom’s basement set. They take their aggressions out on us, maybe they leave real live 3-D people alone. See, we’re providing a service, so no one should hate on us. If Steve couldn’t talk to us, he could be climing through your window ready to hit you on the back of the head right now. You can always delete his rantings here, but if tied up your family you’d be forced to listen.

  638. Steve showed up at 2:05, btw, so just scroll up and stop reading right then and there, and no worries!

  639. I hope I don’t get banned for this. 🙂 I’ll try to resist tr0lls next time. Ok, Seriously, I’m gonna try to get some rest. Reinforcements are coming, I imagine. See you later.

  640. Night, Brit. Sorry, everyone. I know I deserve to get banned or shunned. Or both.

Brit–I almost wish Steve really were a professor though, because can you imagine the hilarity that would ensue when Steve walked in crying about being ad homed as a friendless, creepy mom’s basement dweller and they have to try and sit there with a straight face and reassure him? (You’re welcome, Steve’s imaginary class!)

  641. Checking in late again because of a late session. Didn’t get to watch or listen to the debate, but rather had to read the transcript online, which I think might have given a bit of a different viewpoint. At least on the page, McCain came across as stumbling quite a bit in the beginning – he stopped sentences halfway through, leaving thoughts unfinished a number of times, and said things that had to be deciphered because the grammar was just horribly illogical. By the end, however, BO was stumbling more than McCain, and stopping himself halfway through far more often. Left me feeling the opposite of a lot of the “analysis” that I’ve read on most of the MSM sites saying McCain started strong, but BO finished strong.

Also, as to the “t-shirts at McCain conventions” thing…dunno if most here have seen it, but there’s been a number of folks watching with a careful eye the misogynistic components of the current campaign season (all the way back to primary time), and a couple of them have pointed out that these shirts (the C word ones) have been sold since Palin signed on, but just recently showed up (worn by the woman selling them and a few others) at McCain rallies. Their appearance at McCain rallies is, most likely, little more than a cry for attention and, therefore, sales. The whole thing is even more sickening since the woman who created the shirts has used her gender as proof that the shirts are not misogynistic. Sad, really, and should be called out – but please, make sure to call it out for what it is – a disgusting attempt to capitalize on misogyny and the current political climate. Otherwise, it just feeds the little troll who’s making a profit that will only increase from further media attention.

  642. Me thinketh Steve protesteth too much. The Obama campaign must be truly worried by their internals to send over such a semi-intellect like him over here to our little playground. They had to bring out the big guns to take out these irritating little PUMA voters.

    Once again, with passion: PUUUUUUUUUUUUUMA!

  643. Oh yeah, forgot to add that the Australian reinforcement just started, Britannia.

  644. If Steve is somekind of instructor, then the intellectual level of academia is worse than I thought.

Otherwise he would have immediately considered that Condi Rice could not have been a selection for three reasons: 1) she adamantly refused to run for any position in this election, 2) she worked with Bush and McCain wants to distance himself from this administration, and 3) waterboarding/torture.

Steve just sounds like all the otheor teen-age college kid Obots who dislike women.

BTW-even the Obots at my daughters school were angry because they felt McCain won.

  645. scrubs! Good, you’re on duty! Be safe! 🙂

  647. Perusing isn’t really in steve’s line, scrubs. Do you have a cartoon version?

  648. Ok, I should really stop reading Seriously now, if I want to stop laughing.

  649. Apologies to whoever the moderator is – just wanted to make sure my above comment got up before I head towards bed. Think it’s really important that people know what the real deal with those “Palin is a C” shirts is. I’m all about calling out the misogyny, but its gotta be done in a way that doesn’t end up benefitting the pocketbook of the perpetrator.

  650. Shit, how do I make up a cartoon about such a tragic comedy?

Barack was never funny. I just can’t do it Seriously.
Steve will have to read (maybe he knows that word instead of peruse).

Ah well, it’s practically sunrise for you guys over there. The daytime reinforcements are about to arrive. I normally cover from about 0300 to 0500 but was out for dinner tonight. Bedtime soon for me so I’ll catch up in your afternoon all.

  651. 4. The board was run by a former Reaganite and had other Republicans on it.

Just because there were republicans on that board does not mean everyone should celebrate Obama being friends with him. This is Obama playing the “Hillary did it too” card. In this case the republicans did it too. This is what he tried to do when questioned about Rezko. His campaign sent out a picture of Hillary and Bill with Rezko. Hillary and Bill haven’t been friends with Rezko for 15+ years like Obama but he enjoys playing that card.

  652. Did my post disappear? Second try:
Obama’s ltest “assassinationgate” (which he tried in the debate as well) – debunked as a hoax

  653. Steve, on October 16th, 2008 at 5:23 am Said:

I prefer Instructor, since that is my pay grade. Too bad for me, my job is not a tenure track job. Bur, my students just call me Steve, since I am not caught up in titles, unless it is President.

DO you think at night Hillary has Bill call her POTUS? or Madame President?

Hillary is not like Obama who wants people to call him president now now now. Didn’t you like his presidential seal? Who is more obsessed with being president.

  654. Getting a little tired of Zee’s constant referral to voter fraud as a talking point. Message to ZEE – there is voter fraud going on and it is being investigated. IMHO:

Students who deliberately register to vote and intend to vote twice so Obama wins are committing voter fraud; organization who bring out armies of people to register as many democrats as they can (don’t take other registrations) and deliberatelytry to skew voter populations in swing states are committing fraud especially when its done with tax-payer money.

You don’t live in Chicago where we regsister dead people and by golly, if they don’t show up to vote! People get paid to go from one place to another to vote several times and aren’t called on it.

For a candidate to provide huge taxpayer sums of money to such an organization, knowing its methods and its political position full well is unethical and may be criminal.

Some of the obot students at a work colleague’s school have been told to vote twice by their Obama supporting leaders on campus.

  655. * as a non-issue talking point

  656. Re: Hillary running for Governor of NY: I think Paterson said something to the effect that she should not run against him. I’ll go through my archives and find that article. If I remember correctly it was almost a threat.

  657. Why should Hillary run for Governor of NY? In the senate she can advance her agenda better.

  658. Why I liked was that, at the beginning of the debate, Shieffer mentioned that the campaign had been ugly, and as an example inserting that BO had been called a liar in some of MC’s ads.
MC agreed that the campaign had been ugly, and mentioned that maybe things could have gone better if BO would have accepted to his idea of holding the town hall debates to which he had responded that “anytime” at the onset of the race between the two of them, and yet…

Then, to address the lie business, but without making it a rabid rant (after all MC has to know by now that he’s damned if he goes too negative and damned if he doesn’t), MC mentioned that BO had told him (and while BO, Hillary, and MC where at a debate) that he would use public campaign financing, and yet…

What made me fume most was the fact that Shieffer, as seems to happen with the rest of the media pundits, also appears to be in the tank for BO—reason why he allowed BO to go on and on, and on and on without saying much (BO’s modus operandi), reason why he cut MC whenever things got a little too uncomfortable for BO, and reason why BO was allowed to speak as long as he pleased without Shieffer stopping him or saying squat.
Reason why, before the middle of the debate, I inserted a DVD and decided to watch “Jesus Christ Superstar” (the version with the original cast), instead of getting my poor stomach more acidic than it already is witnessing the bags of sh*t that the media is forcing us to swallow.

    PUMAS will Rock forever!

  659. Downticket- I was referring to comments above.

  660. in my opinion the beginning of the debate was very informal they kept playing the you suck game no you suck more once they got into the questions though they definately came out with better answers i couldnt say who won they both made good arguements and have really good facts to back up what they want for america and why i personally dont want either one of them and wished hilary would come back but in my stand point i would have to go for mccain i think his tax plan would be better for america and would be the better plan to keep us out of a depression a lot of the things happening around us have a lot of similarities to why we ended up in the great depression this presidential election is a prime example the election for Roosevelt from Hoover was occuring as well as our election now I can only hope for the best with this election that our incoming president will come with an effective plan to bail us out of this hole the was dug and well america get back on our feet.

  661. according to the fox panel that followed the debate , all obama has to do is show up and he wins as long as he dont say something like your bitter white guntoters..no matter what mccain says or does, its never good enough for them, id like to see them debate..and see how good they are! they cant even the the truth straight,,if they were so smart they would have pointed out that obama, stumbled over his infancide vote, when michelle held a fund raiser in favor of partial birth abortion which is when someone sticks a pair of scissors into the skull of a live babys head, if thats not horrendous murder i dont know what is

  662. they also dont know that facts about the equal pay bill that the dems where hiding,,,i would go into detail, but im not,,,that was a scam, that would allow someone to sue a previous employer even after the death, or records are gone…like mccain said a trial lawyers dream..

  663. MSN, Politico.com and CNN have NoBama winning. PUKE!!

Did we all see the same debate??

  664. Fox did not actually say that Obama won. They stated that because McCain did not knock him out it was just a wash. Every on line poll I went to this morning had McCain up by a small number. Some of the internals show McCain with some really good numbers.Bear in mind that the Obama trolls jump on the polls the minute they open and repeatedly vote. The Fox “text” poll after being open for one hour had McCain 87 to 11 percent for Obama.

  665. I was on a live online debate where the end poll gave it to McCain by a margin of 57% to 39%. Then on Twitter and Facebook two other polls gave it to McCain. One poll took over 2,200 people’s vote and it came out almost identical to the online debate site: + 50% for McCain +30% for Obama.

The “experts” think they know what they are talking about, but they forget…they are not living in everyday America like we are. Essentially, they are not the “Joe the Plumbers” of the world.

  666. I personally like to see Obama smiling during a debate; it is usually because McCain has just kicked him in the groin with facts. What else can he do but nervously smile? “You gave acorn 800 thousand dollars senator”, pan to Obama and he is doing what? Smiling that vulnerable bambi smile and shaking his head no! When I was a kid, that look meant I was busted for bad behavior. Same look.
Obama will keep smiling like a liar, a cheat and a theif. I can say this because I do not know who he is, but his friends and business dealings are very shady. Acorn, Fannie and Freddie, what am I to think?
O thinks he is hot shit; I think bullshit is probably hot when fresh too!
I give McCain 55%, Obama 38% and 7% is just crap.
The moderator was a joke; dad needs to watch next time instead of running the debate because he was grossly partial to the liberal. Maybe he had so many chills in his legs that he could not handle equality; I wonder if he is friend with chris matthews?
    Nobama! Nobama!! Nobama!!!
    Have a good day all!

  667. joe the plumber is getting under Obamacorns’ skin …

it’s the little pleasure in life 😉

  668. One of our OWN did a great Video that I think says it all..Please view and help raise this video up on youtube

  669. why couldn’t obama do the gracious thing and say that john mccain is not a racist? that really disturbed me :(– i mean he asked him twice to repudiate the rep. lewis statement

  670. testing

  671. WHY is it that no one is talking about the 2 lawsuits against Obama and the DNC regarding requiring BO to legally prove that he is even eligible to run for POTUS? One of the judges refuse to dismiss the case. If he is eligible just produce the LEGAL birth certificate and we can move on. I blame the media and the DNC for failing to vet this candidate. I am truly concerned that they are failing to protect the american people and our constitution.

  672. I was so happy when McCain finally said, “I’m not President Bush”.

  673. Andrew..why do you even bother posting on our site if you are part of the problem with the radical wing of the Dem Party?Do you agree with the radical views of Nobama?Do you agree with the crazy, destructive, criminal things Dems like Pelosi,Frank,Schumer and Raines have done with ACORN and Fannie and Freddie. These corrupt organizations are laid at the feet of the Dems and sooner or later the masses WILL TURN totally against the Dem party until they clean up their act!Are you willing to allow Nobama and the radical majority of Dems to have 4 years destroying not only the party but OUR COUNTRY!I think COUNTRY FIRST is a valid cause. We Women aren’t stupid enough to think that our productive choices will be reversed..give us a break Men in the Dem party have hung that over us women as a fear tactic for far too long! And for your 411 Sarah Palin has more managerial and budget experience running a city and state..That is more than your Messiah Obama from the Corrupt Chicago Political Machine has done. What has that man done..written two books with a publicist and editor..You need to go to Chicago and see the filth and corruption that runs that city and state…SInce he was in the Legislature there..Crime and unemployment has risen.Soon Illinois will be just like Michigan from all the liberals running it.If anyone should be ashamed of themselves ..sir it is you for voting partylines and NOT WHAT IS GOOD FOR OUR COUNTRY! Gays..just like Abortion ain’t goin’ no where..I see where this country WILL GO with the 3 Amigos in control..Nobama,Pelosi and Reid..talk about HELL in a HANDBASKET!

  674. Andrew– You just do not get it — If McCain says he’s not George Bush, you then say he is bitter and tempermental. We recognize this treatment, because it is the same ill treatment the obama camp and MSM thrust onto Hillary.

Meanwhile you belittle/laugh at a gentleman who fought for your right to comment on a blog! Obama sat on the world stage having the chance to say McCain is not a racist- the decent and gracious thing to do. But did he? No, he did not. This shows me his true character and disturbs me on many levels. Not only this, but he had the nerve to throw a punch at the way Fox news’ coverage of him. I found that so hysterical considering all the other networks are in the tank for him.

We have to perceive, discern, and heighten our insight here! Everything involved is not obvious. I feel a recoiling of the spirit every time I hear him speak ;many red flags pop up against my will even. I don’t know what it is exactly, but I know that it is real. I know that something is not right. I have had so many republicans say to me, if this were Hillary and McCain we wouldn’t be as fearful. Sometimes things that seem good are not always good. You try to package your slickety slick 95% illusion of a candidate and are shocked that we see through the smoke and mirrors. You then attack us and say people aren’t being fair to your candidate. Obama the image has had every possible advantage ( the msm / the leftist blogosphere), and yet you and other obama supporters resort to nasty and deplorable rhetoric almost every single time. If you were so confident in him and who he is, then why would you do this?

You’re using “skin cancer” as your best fear tactic? This is very weak — Do you really want to go there? You realize Obama smokes right?– Did you also notice McCain’s 96 yr old mother at the convention? I guess not. This is a tiresome fear tactic and an ineffective one.

Last time I looked a general election hadn’t been held yet? Forgive me if I don’t let public opinion ( or contrived poll public opinion produced by the MSM) make up my mind? I don’t let the MSM define who I am or who I will vote for, and I watch and read a great deal of news. They want us to think it is over just as you do. How do you know this? — Why is it selfish of me to have a different opinion about a candidate than you do? Many people who will roar on Nov 4th and speak their minds through our vote. If we are given a fair chance, I believe the people will have the final word. I don’t know if it will be enough, but make no mistake you are underestimating us. I find it very troubling that many believed this man, this illusive package would unify us. I fear he is the most divisive political figure of our time. And your sort of hateful comments prove our point time and time again.- principles before party.

  675. How loverly..now I am a Jesus freak? I’ve been to Chicago and seen your slums and all of the Corruption there..so don’t tell me!!..My brother is gay for your information and I love him dearly. He even goes to Church with us..You were not here in Texas during the Causus and see how badly we Hillary Clinton voters were treated by the crazy Nobama ones.We were spit on and yelled at! That was enough to turn me away from the radical wing of the Dem Party. In all my life I have never been scared of Blacks but you didn’t see the way they were acting here! And for your Information I am an independent voter..I’ve voted for both Republicans,Dems and Independents in my lifetime but my Voting record goes with who best fits my beliefs..I especially love what you said, “Yet these idiots from down south vote based on their Fake Jack and The BeanStalk Story”
Isn’t is nice to be called an idiot?Shame you can’t discuss the subject without maligning me..very typical..I’ll remember you in my prayers!

  676. Andrew, the DNC along with the moronic obots picked the less qualified candidate to run at the TOP of their ticket. It is so stupid of you to keep bringing up Palin’s alleged inexperience when your candidate is just as inexperienced. And in addition to being inexperienced he is dishonest, devious AND a sexist.

The reason the obots are kicked off this board is because you are TR0LLS. And BTW, most of us have been banned from other boards for having anti-Obama opinions so you can take your censorship argument and stick it where the sun don’t shine (as in up your A$$, the same place where your head is stuck).

  677. I just clicked on Andrews name and it took me to his MySpace and it says he is from Reading Pennsylvania..LOL…I thought he said he was from Chicago!!?!?

    ———
If Hillary votes Obama, then she doesn’t deserve to be President 2012!

  679. Andrew: If I were the boss I wouldn’t hire some one who lied and told me one thing one day and another one the next day, I wouldn’t hire somebody who really held NO full time jobs at all and who got the few jobs they did have by stepping over people that helped them and getting them disqualified by finding technicalities …

In short, I’d hire the Vet, the person that showed character during his two long jobs over his very long life time … I’d take the one that voted over and over again for things against his party line because he knew it was right and has been well known for working with others of varying backgrounds …

and I’d let the person hire who ever he wanted as an assistant because it’s his perogative to hire who he wants help from …

You’re looking at superficialiaties which rely is telling to your state of mind and intelligence

  680. Must we be continually subjected to this?

  681. oh, and btw, McCain comes with better references …

I’d look at Wright, Ayers, Acorn, Pfleger, Rezko … and say, whoa, look at those references!

    and again, I’d hire McCain

  682. RD will clean the place up when she comes home from work … it’s her thread…

  683. “McCain:
United States Naval Academy – Class Rank: 894 of 899”

In calculating class rank they also factor in the number of demerits for conduct the individual has racked up. The algorithm for figuring grades in the universities does NOT include conduct.

    Amusing…

Biden was almost expelled for plagiarism. So much for his “record.”

An Ivy League education a president does not make.

Lastly, to those who are acquainted with academia, just because an individual has an Ivy League education is hardly reason for one to believe that person qualified let alone worthy of adulation.

  684. Good call JVSP!
