    • America Defeats Germany Again
There’s a good article in Der Spiegel on the German energy/industrial crisis which is worth your time. Basically industries which have high energy costs are being crushed. In particular this means chemical and automotive, both big in Germany, but extends far further. (Indeed, the chemical industry was essentially invented by Germany in the 19th century, and […]

Patsy explains it all

Patsy, aka soldier4hillary, and Sugar of Sugar n’ Spice, have a blogtalkradio program on Thursday nights at 9:00PM EST on NQR.  It’s called Our View with Patsy and Sugar.  Highly recommended.  Patsy is about as clear eyed as a person is likely to get on the state of the race (you can take that any way you like). In  this video clip, Patsy lays it all out:

Patsy, if you need a place to blog, I’m sure we can make some room for you here at The Confluence.  Contact us at theconfluence08 at yahoo dot com.

On another note: I distinctly remember how the Des Moines Register praised Hillary Clinton for her readiness to lead because the state of the nation required a Democrat who was more like FDR than JFK.  The most recent fed bailouts of Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and insurance giant AIG put me in mind of this.  So, I thought I would dig up that endorsement and demonstrate how wise and perspicacious the editorialists were on December 15, 2007.

Lo and behold, it has been scrubbed from their site. I can’t find it anywhere.  it’s almost as if someone wanted to rewrite history and downplay how clairvoyant the Des Moines Register actually was.  i mean, they were pretty solid in their confidence in Hillary Clinton’s ability to handle a crisis like the one afflicting Wall street right now (and pretty confident of Obama’s relatively unseasoned status).  I called the editorial department of the Des Moines Register today to ask about the location of the endorsement, because I like to double check my own searching skills.  So far, they have not returned my call.  But it *seems* as if the endorsement has been scrubbed from the Des Moines Register site and every commentaty that made reference to it in the blogosphere. Cue the eerie theremin music.

  1. yippee – first!

    ummm – I don’t have anything to say….except yippee I’m first!

  2. Pasty sista, you rock!

  3. I love Patsy! I hope she takes up the invitation to blog here… I’ve read her posts at NQ

  4. Patsy has been producing terrific videos throughout the campaign. I linked to some of them here over the course of the primary. There is something going on with her blog because it’s suddenly password protected.

Way before the editorial endorsing her, the Desmoines Register did an interview with Hillary. They were sooo impressed with her that they wrote a very glowing article about her, along with a video of the interview. That too has been scrubbed even from their archives.

    It’s just bizarre.

  5. Patsy’s great. I hope she blogs for The Confluence.

  6. Yep Patsy’s great! On another note, if you see it print to pdf it.

  7. Whole lot of scrubbing going on this year.

The blogs should all be squeaky clean by now.

  8. PATSY YOU ROOOCK !! I cannot believe they did that to your blog ( insert lots and lots of really bad words here ) If those are the kinds of tactics they employ now…… the idea of them being in power is truly frightening . I loved your blog and read it often . You go !!!!! Everything you said is true !
    much love many hugs

  9. Hey RD,

I sent you a e-mail. Patsy is always on point!

  10. That’s what I was thinking, myiq. Lots of things have “disappeared” from Barry’s own site as well. Just trying to rewrite history, I guess.

Back on topic: I LOOOOOOVE Patsy’s stuff. No fiddle-farting around with her. She says it exactly how she sees it.

  11. Can I get an AMEN from the choir?? Tell it like it is, Patsy.

  12. I love Patsy. Frankly, i think she’s 100% right. I don’t even buy the idea that Bill and Hillwant the fraud to win. I think they will do everything they can to help him becaquse they don’t want any of the blame. But would you want someone who called you a racist and used misogny against you to be President? Think about that. Would you?

Also, i think Hill is subtly postioning herself for 2012. And you Obamathugs will not have any idea what is coming at you if you think you can stop us this time.

  13. What did I do? I’m in moderation?

  14. The video was great. Thanks, Patsy. My anger just comes and goes. But when it hits, I am pissed. Imagine if Obama had taken Ca by 10%, Pa, Ohio, Fl, Tx by 100,000, Mass and on and on. There is no way in h*ll he wouldn’t be the nominee. He wouldn’t have had to be drug over the finish line, he could have high jumped over. The DNC would not have handed it to Clinton if she had taken red caucus states with 15% turnout. It’s ridiculous.

    It sucks.

  15. Patsy has a career in public service if she wants it. I see the next Sheila Jackson Lee, Stephanie Tubbs Jones or even Shirley Chisholm. You go Patsy!

They are the blame and the media is covering for Obama! We The People MUST stand up and get the word out about Obama and what really caused our economic crisis!!

  17. I found one reference to the endorsement in the Registers’ archives, but I don’t have an account to check it out – the article is called Paper’s Endorsement Has Clinton Flying High. Revved Up for Final Stretch:

Hopefully, no matter what they try, we’ll still find a way to preserve history. I wish I had saved off articles throughout this campaign.

  18. Palin’s email gets hacked, Patsy’s blog gets vandalized, Obama’s key demographic is the cybergeek.

  19. MyIQ, what is the deal with “Dominionists” ? I’ve never heard of them but they’re the worst people in the world? Really?

  20. In a CBS 2 HD exclusive interview, Rep. Rangel called Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin “disabled.”

The question was simple: Why are the Democrats so afraid of Palin and her popularity?

    The answer was astonishing.

“You got to be kind to the disabled,” Rangel said.

That’s right. The chairman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee called Palin disabled — even when CBS 2 HD called him on it.

CBS 2 HD: “You got to be kind to the disabled?”

    Rangel: “Yes.”

    CBS 2 HD: “She’s disabled?”

Rangel: “There’s no question about it politically. It’s a nightmare to think that a person’s foreign policy is based on their ability to look at Russia from where they live.
Wasn’t O’s foreign policy experience before he started the fact that he lived outside the US as a child?

  21. lol….Patsy is right on. You go girl. And come november we can ask ‘CAN YOU HEAR US NOW’?

I just had a Obamabot troll who posted on my blog go into total meltdown. We’re getting to them, and they really, really don’t want to get in MY face.

    Mountain Sage

  22. As far as obots eating crow to woo us over .. i say this is the funniest thing i have read from them ina long time and betrays their view of just how shaky things really are in obotland

Hillary supporters may not want to tell you that you’ve reached them. Assume it will take a few tries. And even if these voters don’t admit they’ve changed their minds, at a minimum, your attempt at taking one for the team may influence them enough to keep them from voting for McCain, or bad-mouthing Obama’s so-far wobbly candidacy.

This being reflective of the mentality of the obotomatics … we have nothing to fear …

oh and by the way ..CYGNUS RADIO has a THEREMIN SHOW on Sunday Nights Spellbound, a brief program of music for theremin

  23. Why is it that intelligent women are shut down, and talking heads are glorified? Patsy seems to be a very intelligent, well thought out, well presented woman (as are all of you) and you’re vilified, but Hollywood is glorified? I don’t get it. I never will.

When I was a kid, the “b” word was bad, you didn’t call a woman that, somewhere in the 80’s, women were calling each other that: “Yeah, and proud of it.” When the “b” word was associated with Hillary in the 90’s, I thought yeah, so, she’s one tough woman and proud of it. 15 years later I’m thinking why was I proud of being a “b.” Why didn’t I care about other women the same way. When did we start “owning” degradation like it was a good thing?

  24. I’m listening to a rerun of Pasty and Sugar’s show. Luv them both.

  27. Patsy, that video clip was wonderful. Thank you. Senator Clinton is fortunate to have such a strong, tenacious, and intelligent supporter.

  32. From No Quarter – more Clinton supporters for McCain:

Today, McCain-Palin 2008 released a partial transcript of a conference call held this afternoon with Miguel D. Lausell, Senior Political Advisor to Hillary Clinton, and Clinton Delegate-at- Large Luchy Secaira (Florida). Both Lausell and Secaira endorsed John McCain for president.

  33. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lea-lane/eat-crow-hell-yes-to-win_b_126712.html

Why do they keep saying Hillary ran a nasty campaign? From the outside looking in, I saw it completely opposite. I don’t recall her ever attacking Obama, or flipping him off, or brushing him off her shoulder. Granted, I wasn’t paying a great deal of attention, but ***@** I wasn’t terribly thrilled with my candidates so I lurked to see if I could cross party lines. Then the thing I thought could never happen, did. She didn’t win, she wasn’t even picked as VP, and there I was (not a morning person), up at 4:30 a.m. surfing the net hoping JM didn’t pick Tom Ridge.

I think someone on the other blog had it right, there are some mighty powerful people behind the scenes and they do not like it if they can’t control the action. Now they have a candidate they can control, that they built, and a candidate they have no idea what he’ll do because he’s been bucking status quo for awhile now, but against his own party, not the “other side.”

I see some very ugly politics coming out in the next 46 days. Probably worse than any of us have ever witnessed.

  34. IronMan,

We got your message the first time around and that was just 30 min ago.

  35. JMAC, two more Hillary delegates endorsed Senator McCain? Wow.

Curious how many Ron Paul delegates from the Republican National Convention have endorsed Senator Obama? Anyone know?

  36. Katiebird or Myiq2xu,

Is Dogemperor blogging at Corrente now?

  37. RD..

Great follow through with the Des Moines Register. You truly walk your talk with hard work. It’s beyond weird. There’s some website that archives web pages that have disappeared down the memory hole…is there any chance that the editorial made it to a webpage?
    Thanks for all you do.

  38. RepublicanWoman,

It’s called projection. Projection is a very immature defense mechanism in which neurotic individuals have difficulty dealing with their own strong emotions and nefarious acts, and unconsciously tranfer those emotions and behaviors to others. Based on my observations, Barack Obama’s defenses are extremely immature. He frequently uses project and also passive aggression. He is a very sick person.

  39. What a great video. I just shook my had in agreement thoughout the whole thing.

  40. BB:

    Yes, with Lambert’s praise

  41. IronMan, this board is for discussion, not a pop-in pep rally. You are really becoming very annoying. You constantly run in here shouting at us like some damn McCain Drill Sergeant, then running away again. You are not winning yourself or your candidate any friends with that behavior. Calm the fuck down. Shouting “BOOYAH!” in my ear is not helpful to the discourse, and if you did it in person I’d likely look at you as if there were a sudden bad smell in the room, and tell you to piss off.

You’re not a troll, I don’t think, but you are completely lacking in any manners whatsoever. Your behavior is frankly just rude and boorish.

Sorry, but that’s my take on it. Go learn some social skills.

  42. Patsy…

    You’re the bomb baby!

  43. myiq2xu,

Thanks. Did he get banned from the Cheeto?

  44. “He is a very sick person”

  45. “She” may have, I don’t know.

    What do you know?

  46. Virginia started Early Voting today. This is very frightening. They opened up early voting areas at all of these universities all over the country.

These rolls have to be scrubbed to see if the students are registered at 2 places.

    GOD HELP US ALL!!!!!!!

  47. My email’s been hacked as well. This shit sucks! I love Patsy. She has been rock solid all season.

  48. ummm, I kind of hate to point this out since all of you are so much smarter than me, but has anyone tried the old-fashioned way of finding the info you’re looking for in the Des Moines newspaper by actually going and finding the paper copy or microfiche in a library that carries it? They still do that, right?

geez, I’m really feeling old now

  49. Puma-SF – I like your pumps!

  50. Oh, I shouldn’t have said “he.” I didn’t have any info about Dogemperor’s gender. I just wondered because DE’s diaries used to get hundreds of recommendations at DK.

  51. “since all of you are so much smarter than me”

    heh…don’t count on it.

  52. Charles,

Doesn’t Obama have to win two of the big three: OH, FL, and PA? It looks to me like most of his other options have gone up in smoke. McCain has a big lead in Indiana now and it doesn’t look like Obama will carry CO or VA. GA is out of the question, NJ is a swing state. I still don’t think he’s going to win. John Kerry was way ahead at this point, wasn’t he?

  53. In case you haven’t heard. Apparently the FBI is questioning the son of Democratic Tennesse rep Mike Kernell about the Palin email hacking.

  54. I just loved Patsy and her video. I can’t believe those losers took her blog down. I am really impressed with her righteousness.

  55. Too bad we can’t get in touch with Fuzzybear and have him look it up while he’s in Iowa.

  56. According to the polls I saw at Charles’ blog, Indiana is more competitive than expected (unless i misunderstood them).

  57. NJ also seems to have polled for O quite strongly.

  58. UpstateNY,

Obama expected to win Indiana. The last poll I saw, McCain was leading by about 9 points. Anyway, Indiana wouldn’t make up for losing any of the big three. I’ll go over to BTF now…

  59. Rush is telling Greta about the Iraqi interference with bringing the troops home. Let’s see where this goes.

  60. Hey everyone, please click on this link, we need to increase the viewership of this and force the msm to cover it

  61. It’s still quite a long time until Nov. 5. Obama has to participate in two debates (horrors!) and get through the October surprise the Repubs are holding for him. Do you think Bush can keep the Wall St. casino going until the election? Obama’s funds from all those investment bankers must be really drying up right now. The entire financial system is likely to really crash at some point.

  62. I’ve been a fan of this woman on YouTube for several weeks. She is pure gold.

  63. “The entire financial system is likely to really crash at some point.”

Lets hope it does not. Ugly.

  64. Please everyone, be prepared to vote Mccain with a “D’ all the way down. There’s not a vote to play around with. Again, this is a national emergency. Corruption cannot be rewarded with the presidency!!!

  65. Okay, I see that in the latest poll, IN is very close. I grew up in Indiana. Let me tell you, if IN goes blue I will be way beyond shocked. The last time it happened was 1964. Obama is no LBJ. I don’t believe it will happen.

But Indiana has about the same number of electoral votes as MA. It’s not going to replace PA, FL, and OH.

  66. But joanie, I do not plan to vote for Mc.

  67. Joaniebone,

So sorry. I refuse to vote for John Kerry. Other than that, there won’t be any Repubs on my ballot to vote for except McCain.

  68. Fl will go R, OH will probably go R also. PA, I really do not know.

  69. UpstateNY,

If NY is tied, wouldn’t you consider it? I am considering it if MA is close.

  70. The problem with financial crashes and other traumatic events is that it encourages the uncertain to look for saviours and strong men to do the thinking for them. Critical thought goes out the window in the face of panic. I wasn’t too thrilled that the Obama campaign sees the house of cards teetering as a bonus for their message.

  71. WMCB,

Stay classy. No need to cuss. I’m not the enemy.

    Apology accepted.

    And Carol,

Yep, Virgnia begand early voting today. I bet a lot of the college students voting for Obama are not even being checked for ID and correct home addresses.

I will post a list of states with early voting dates in just a bit.

  72. Here’s a very compelling analysis of the current state of the race from Jay Cost.

    The State of the Race

  73. UpstateNY,

I think Obama really needs to win two out of those three states. I don’t think he can do it. His best bet is PA, but I think he’ll manage to turn off more PA voters between now and Nov. He just can’t help making his *bitter* snide comments.

  74. bb, there are three debates between Obama and McCain and one for the VPs

  75. RD… it is too bad that we do not use microfilm for “news” papers now.

Computer technology is a blessing and a curse at the same time…

Thanks for posting Patsy here. She is so refreshing with her earnest clarity.

    Go Patsy!

  76. Charles,

Based on what I’m hearing from the people I know in NH, I do not believe that NH will go blue in the end. As for IN, forget it. If Obama carries IN, it will mean he’s winning in a landslide. Hoosiers simply don’t vote Dem in presidential elections. Sure, I could be wrong, but I’d be willing to bet a considerable sum on it.

  77. I don’t know BB…I will have to see how things develop between now and then…I just do not like to be told who to vote for and lately I have been seeing a lot of that at the Confluence.

  78. Charles,

I know you’re not saying the race is over. I just enjoy discussing it.

  79. BB:

  80. Joaniebone,

I’m determined to vote for the Repub who is running against Kerry. I can’t believe I’m actually going to do that, but I am.

  81. This is all so confusing. CNN says that McCain is gaining in the electoral college with Obama’s 44 point lead cut to 23. VA is still a toss up state. Looks like my vote may actually count for once. Too bad it won’t be for a Democratic ticket.

  82. WMCB! Thanks. Right when I think I just might, might be able to pull the lever for McCain, along comes Iron Man . . .

  83. Should be able to get all the early voting sattes here:

I believe 35 states plus DC allow early voting this year.

Again, as Carol pointed out earlier, VIRGINIA began early voting…

There are now only 45 days left until the election. But Early Voting will have been ongoing for several days by that time. No doubt Obama will try to steal the election via voter fraud.

  84. UpstateNY,

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not telling you what to do. I just wondered if you had thought about it. I do not plan to make up my mind until I actually walk into the voting booth. I’m leaving all options open and I certainly respect everyone’s right to decide their own vote!

Until recently, I was absolutely sure I’d never vote for McCain. Now I’m considering it as an option if the race here is too close to call.

  85. Ironman, I know I was harsh – perhaps too much so. But yeah, chill.

I have to go look at Charles blog – haven’t yet today!

  86. Terri,

Three debates? All the better. I wonder, will we see a lump on Obama’s back? Will he use a teleprompter? One thing I do know, he’ll get very irritated if anyone asks him a serious question, and he’ll look down his nose at McCain. The American people will realize he’s not *likeable enough.*

  87. bostonboomer,

NH is really close. As of now, I’ll give a slight advantage to Obama but things are tightening.

I had breakfast with probably the most insightful and most connected Rep in Nh a week ago, and he said thing are now looking much more better for them after the 2006 debacle, even Shaheen v Sununu is now within reach for them.

He gave us lots of scoops on some of the internal polling they have, the one the public doesn’t see.

  88. and let’s not forget those pesky poll workers who illegally ask you for ID when your state does not require it!

I know IL is not in play (so sad for me), but I really object to them not following the law – especially when it can be used to disenfranchrise thousands or millions of voters.

  89. I’ve never had so much problem and conflict in deciding how to vote. I was hoping that one of the candidates would shine in how they handled this economic crisis. Instead I got a bunch of BS from both of them.

    Mountain Sage

  90. Hmmm….Yep. I want to vote for Patsy for Prez!

  91. I just read that McCain is going to bring back Rev Wright. You’d think it would be old news, but a lot of people didn’t follow the primaries and are still clueless. A number of people have not seen or heard of the hip-hop face scratching and I’ve also heard a number of people say they just don’t see that Obama is arrogant.

  92. Ms. Marple, on September 19th, 2008 at 10:43 pm Said:
The problem with financial crashes and other traumatic events is that it encourages the uncertain to look for saviours and strong men to do the thinking for them. Critical thought goes out the window in the face of panic. I wasn’t too thrilled that the Obama campaign sees the house of cards teetering as a bonus for their message.

In this kind of disaster people are not so keen to take big risks. That is, change is ok, but not to much, because we can’t stomach it. But then again, that might be the conclusion of “rational” thought, i.e. me wrong, you right 🙂

  93. MABlue,

That’s interesting. I hope Shaheen doesn’t lose. But people in NH don’t care for elitist snobs. I think the debates are going to really showcase Obama’s disagreeable personality for people who weren’t paying attention during the primaries.

  94. Jmac,

I’m not here to get into an argument with anyone.

If my comments were taken as such, then I am sorry for that. I was actually surprised that I was allowed to post on TL tonight. Did I get a bit carried away? I guess so. But again, I am not the enemy.

And with all due respect, please don’t attribute the basis of your decision of who you will or won’t vote for in this election to me or my comments on this blog. Such a statement makes absolutely no sense at all.

I encourage you to do the same. As Hillary said to all of us, you can vote for anyone for any reason, but I hope you will vote for McCain-Palin. I believe Hillary and Bill Clinton will be voting for Mccain-Palin like many of my fellow Hillary Clinton supporters will be doing.

  95. Upstate, I am not telling anyone who to vote for by making a plea. Why do you think that? It is just my voice expressing opinion like everyone else here.

I’m not calling names if you don’t agree. A plea is just a plea. You are entitled to ignore it.

I guess it all boils own to the day after election day. If Obama eeks out a win–or not. I am visiting in my head how I will feel in either case, and visiting my own effect on outcome. In the end, all of us have to get comfortable with our choices and how they play in to the end result.

  96. Charles: The rational likely excludes Obama supporters though.

Yup. That’s probably the understatement of the century!

  97. Clinton on Palin

In Rochester today, Hillary spoke at her greatest length so far about Sarah Palin.

“I think that a lot of people were excited to see the Republicans have a woman on their ticket. We had a woman vice presidential candidate in 1984; the Republicans have one this year. I think that is something to be excited about because it is a change. But that’s not reason enough to vote for the McCain-Palin ticket,” she said, according to a transcript from NY1 News.

She also spoke of the way women are covered by the press.

“I think you have to ask yourself and it’s a little exercise I’d like everybody in the press, and really all of us, to go through: Would the same thing be said about a man in a similar position and the answer 99 times out of 100 is no. I think it’s been a long time since anybody covered what Barack Obama, Joe Biden, or John McCain wear or their hairstyle or any other personal characteristic like that.”
    politico 09/19/08

  98. BB, no, I know you are not. I have followed your train of though during this past months and as you I too have considered different options.

I just find some bloggers are pushing too hard the Mc/P ticket on the rest of us.

  99. The only emails I’ve received from Obama supporters have been negative, sexist attacks on Palin. I have yet to receive an email that discusses their candidate, his position on the issues and why I should vote for him over McCain. It’s been nothing but garbage.

  100. The Clinton’s are voting McCain/Palin.

You get put money on it.

  101. The media talked about what Gore was wearing but they said he was practically lactating.

They mention what Democratic men wear (or how much they pay for haircuts) to feminize them.

It’s just another form of sex*sm.

  102. bb, lol, I haven’t thought of Bush’s box in a long time. i wouldn’t be surprised if Obama wore one. 🙂 Of course, the media would never show us a pic of his back if so. Just like they didn’t care that Bush was wired. I’m not sure what it was, but I know there was something on his back. And it was in more than one debate if I remember correctly.

There is a foreign policy debate, a domestic issues debate, and an undecided voter one. The last is in Nashville. I wish I could get a ticket for that one even though I’m about three hours away. I’d let you all pick my question.

  103. “You are entitled to ignore it”

    I know joanie, I know.

  104. During one of the debates, I heard a one word answer given to Romney. I think they may all be wired.

  105. I wonder if McCain really would do a “God Damn America” ad. Or will he leave it to a 527?

  106. Since you have to have an excuse to vote early in VA, I’m sure they will check residence because the excuse is that you can’t be there on election day. They have plenty of time to check early votes. I think any fraud will happen on election day when the polls are busy and it would be easier to get stuff by overwhelmed poll workers.

  107. Look at my gravatar and know that that is coming at you personally if Obama wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be Terminator on Steroids!

    Just saying……………

  108. upstateNY, things are heating up, people are taking sides and things are getting out of control and I’m not talking about wall street. it just going to get worse and worse. i will decide in the voting booth.

  109. kbird, my guess is that he will leave that to others outside his campaign.

  110. I’m ready to see things shaken up a little. (tapping my foot)

  111. Upstate, I was trying to defend myself to your accusation that I am one of the bloggers telling you how to vote, and meant nothing more.. sorry, I don’t know how to communicate my feelings that well. I’m just another opinion, thats all. goodnight..

  112. (tapping my foot)

  113. Ok that bit about the Des Moines Register’s endorsement is just creepy. I went looking for a diary I wrote about the endorsement and the DM Register had another article on the front page of that day’s paper mapping out what we needed in our next leader…

    That one’s gone too.

What Qualities Are Most Essential In Our Next President (http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071215/NEWS/71215019)

After mapping out how fucked up things are right now, they close with this…

“The times call for competence. Americans want their government to work again.

The times call for readiness to lead. Americans want their country to do great things again. They’ll regain trust in their government when they see a president make that happen. ”

    G O N E

  114. Iron man – it’s just that she hit the nail on the head when she called you the McCain drill sergeant. And if I vote for McCain, it will not be because I’m FOR McCain. Patsy said it best at the end of her video.

I just might sit home. It doesn’t matter in my blood, scarlet, fire engine red county. You’re statement that I shouldn’t take someone’s comment on this blog to determine how I will vote somehow says to me you’re not so much PUMA as – a drill sergeant for McCain.

  115. joanie, I was not singling you out. My apologies if I hurt your feelings, it was not my intention.

  116. Hate to say it, but NV will probably go blue. We’re pretty anemic here. Since Palin it’s picked up considerably, but we don’t require ID if they voted in a prior election, we have early voting, and we’re at a deficit of 70,000 or so. Rs only won by 3% in 2004. However, we have a lot of people actually switching their voter reg from D to R, or at least N/P in the last 2 weeks, more volunteers every day, but we are union controlled and they endorsed Obama. So we won’t know until November 5th I’m sure. I’m hoping those other states come in so it won’t matter.

  117. Charles, I do not know how you do it, but thanks a million. Your blog has now become a must read for me.

  118. Well, Pasty is stronger then me. She’s knows what it will take. Obama has to be defeated or we won’t see Hill, or any good Dem presidency for a long, long time.

  119. And (weird music) Neither Ebsco nor Gale newpaper indexes include The Des Moines Register.

The University of Iowa has an index but you have to have an ide or library card there.

If Iowa Public Libraries work like ours, someone could call a public Library in Des Moines and ask a Librarian to FAX a copy of the editorial. We did that ALL the time.

  120. I sincerely doubt NV will go blue. I’d bet the house NV stays red for McCain.

  121. Patsy – great job!

  122. This afternoon at work (in Silicon Valley) a man asked two of us women what we thought of Palin. I mentioned how Bill Clinton and Willie Brown were impressed with her natural
political ability, and how Bill said that she came out of small-town American but wasn’t pushing her values on others. My co-worker then told me that his uncle (or some relative) was the first governor of Alaska and how when he visited as a boy, he always avoided the inevitable moose-hunting parties.

He then said, “No one here is going to vote for Obama, are they?” To which I responded a non-committal, “Well….” He said that he lived in Obama’s district and if his political prowess in the State legislature was any indication, the country would be in grave trouble. I’m going to ask for specifics the next time I see him. Did not want to go further into the subject while at work.

BUT this is the first first-hand report I’ve had from the belly of the beast. Holly’s black woman political contact from BO’s district–she was campaign manager for a famous politician– was not going
to jeopardize herself, but did say ” Obama was in a position to do good, but he did not.”

Can’t the corporate-consolidated media find anything good that Obama did for the people, as opposed to Rezko and Davis and others who contributed to his next campaign? Why are they selling Obama as if he were Bush in 2000 and 2004, or the Iraq War?

  123. Who do we all loathe and despise? Obama

Who do we cling to when things get unsteady? Conflucians

We are all here because we want to be. We take pleasure in each other’s company. We take pride in being a PUMA. We goad, encourage, support, and praise each other.

Some of us have made our decisions, others have not. This is the situation the DNC has placed us. Who we do or do not vote for has no bearing on how we proceed as we always have. Together, united.

With that, I spilled red wine all over a white damask tablecloth. How do I get it out? It is soaking now in a salt solution. What else do I need to do?

  124. Joan, What scares me is students who “live” in VA but also have out-of-state addresses. I wonder if there’s a chance they can vote in two states. Wasn’t that a problem with the caucuses, bussing in “voters” from out of state? It has been clear to me that these kids have no scruples. They’ve been behaving like juvenile delinquents from the start (reference Palin hacker). It bothers me that democracy can be usurped by a bunch of spoiled brats with nothing better to do than wreak havoc on elections.

  125. (Looking up) hmmm?

  126. Charles: How is Nasty Nancy doing out in SF? Do the polls show a decline?

  127. Charles,

Aren’t all these bank failures going to hamper Obama’s fundraising a bit?

  128. “I think FL is safe for McCain. He leads among Hispanics (20% of pop) and among seniors.”

If I understand FL’s politics correctly, Cuban Americans (at least the older generation) tend to vote overwhelmingly R….so no surprise there. Are there any other significant Hispanic groups in that state…and if so, how do they tend to vote?

  129. gxm17, Ah, come-on! You don’t want to spoil a little harmless fun do you?

How in the world can they stop kids from early voting from their parents home and Election day voting from College?

  130. I noticed “disappeared” news articles many months ago. At the time I mentioned it on another board, no one responded. It’s scary, but also good to hear that others have run into it too. At least I know I’m not going crazy.

  131. We have friends who live in The Villages, Florida. They say they are the only Democrats in the entire Village.

  132. Any polls on the “Jewish” vote? I am curious about that one.

Also, do you know what the titles of the editorials for which are looking? they might be cached somewhere… though, I am sure you have already looked 🙂

  133. Charles – today when the rally started for McCain/Palin CNN and Fox did not start the live streaming until McCain started talking. The fix is in. Obviously, they are going to start blocking her from air time. Meanwhile, they covered both Obama and Biden.

I will be so glad when this is over.

  134. I liked how O called his good friend and state senate leader here in IL and asked him to call a special session and vote on the ethics reform – and he’s going to do it!

And, now that he’s not been affiliated with any state legislation for several years (not that he ever was before), how does it look that he’s coming in from the federal level and sticking his nose in how the state is run? To us, it’s more of the same – but how will it play on the national stage?

  135. Well, anyplace can change. When I was a kid in Marin County, CA, I was one of 2 kids from Democratic families all the way through junior high. I’m not sure they even let Republicans move into the county nowadays though.

  136. Sources: Intense Pressure Led To Palin UN Snub
CBS 2 HD Has Learned Democrats Threatened To Attack Jewish Groups’ Tax Exempt Status Over VP Nominee Invite

excerpt: “It’s an absolute shame that this has happened,” Hikind said. “To threaten organizations … to threaten the Conference of Presidents that if you don’t withdraw the invitation to Gov. Palin we’re going to look into your tax exempt status … that’s McCarthyism.”

  137. Masslib, I hope you’re correct, b/c I’ve been working 24/7 to see that happens. Not the red that the South sees, but red that our Libertarian state sees. I do a lot of phone work and I’m just not convinced yet, we have a strong RP faction who refuses to vote for JM, but we have a lot of Hillary supporters who will. It’s seriously a toss-up.

  138. It will be anyone but Palin!

  139. Hey, check this out. The Des Moines Register may have scrubbed its print endorsement of Hillary, but the VIDEO is right here:

  140. i would like to know what kristen gillibrand (D-NY) thinks about the comments by democrats that Palin can govern and raise kids at the same time. Gillibrand has had a baby recently adn I noticed that all her ads use the word work, she is definitely stressing the fact that she will continue to work for us

  141. I don’t know Katiebird. Not allow college kids to vote early? Raise the voting age? Raise kids who don’t cheat? It’s all very discouraging.

  142. “With that, I spilled red wine all over a white damask tablecloth. How do I get it out? It is soaking now in a salt solution. What else do I need to do?”

Throw it out and buy a new one? I only drink red wine, and I have cats who love to topple it. I have on more than one occasion used a “stain remover” from Melalueca that works most of the time, but not always. I can’t throw the carpet away, so I’m more paranoid about it.

  143. The thing is, gxm17 — I think those voting shenanigans are a big part of Obama strategy. I just wish someone would spill the beans publically.

  144. Dishsoap and H202 ( hydrogen peroxide ) removes wine stains Hugs PAT
if they employ tactics like that now in this campaign can you imagine what they will do if permittted to come into power?? once again…….. its frightening

  145. Republican Woman: You are probably right. I think this tablecloth is done.

  146. Sorry, i should go to sleep:
    I meant:

would like to know what kristen gillibrand (D-NY) thinks about the comments by democrats that Palin CANT govern and raise kids at the same time. Gillibrand has had a baby recently adn I noticed that all her ads use the word work, she is definitely stressing the fact that she will continue to work for us

  147. The whole thing is getting very frightening. Hacked e-mails, downed blogs, threats and intimidations thrown at hosting agencies. They only way they can win is by cheating and I can almost see it coming. They have had years to prepare.

  148. Pat – if it is white minus the wine stains, do as Patsy will be doing – wear it to the voting booth.

  149. I once had a guest spill red wine on a new white rug. Traditional wisdom says you can dilute the stain with white wine.

A professional cleaner of Oriental rugs got the stain completely out. He said it makes a difference what kind of red wine was spilled. Treatment varies depending on how tannic the wine was.

So, if you can’t get the stain out yourself, make sure to tell the cleaner what kind of red wine was spilled.

I can’t even see where the wine was spilled on my rug.

  150. “jvsp: Any polls on the “Jewish” vote? I am curious about that one.”

The Republican Jewish Coalition has a strong campaign going on, I don’t know how well it’s doing. http://www.rjchq.org/

  151. Carol: I am laughing out loud once again!

  152. Phoenix: Thanks, but I think it is beyond salvaging.

  153. Pat, does damask come in dark red? Or there is always a tie dye damask tablecloth or maybe a tablecloth with holes for serving bowls? Just thinking out of the box…

  154. Ah Congresswoman Gillibrand….the mailers, the memories…I thought she did a relatively good job.

  155. “Republican Woman: You are probably right. I think this tablecloth is done.”

I’m truly sorry to hear that.

  156. The press won’t call Obama to task. He could sit through the debates on Hillary’s lap doing an imitation of Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy while munching on Cracker Jacks, and they would admire him for his agility in a game of Freesbie.

  157. Pat, I was going to recommend dying the tablecloth red.

There’s a product called “Wine Away” that gets rave reviews. Here’s a link to a homemade remedy (with white wine) you can try:

  158. Prolix: Don’t worry, I plan on squeezing out the last drop before I heave it into the rubbish.

  159. I once spilled red wine on my new Berber rug, so I quickly spilled some white wine on the stain and it disappeared. Did it disappear because that really works or because I had heard that it does?
Where does the bald man take his “rug” to be styled?
    The Berber Shop.

  160. You would think I was Heloise writing another book the way I am always asking for advice.

  161. Rep.Woman,
Thanks! given the MSM being in the tank, give the following link a look regarding the Fairness Doctrine (ignore the Partisan aspect, though it is alarming who is pushing it when one thinks of the “news coverage” being foisted upon us).

  162. katiebird, so do I. And I find it very discouraging. The lack of coverage the caucus fraud has received is inexcusable. Whatever happened to journalism?

  163. They’ve had years to prepare – and they perfected it at the caucuses.

  164. Patsy sounds ignorant and disgruntled. Makes me embarrassed to say I’m a Black woman. Then again you all sound ignorant and disgruntled.

  165. I do like the whole tie-die thing. Take up the table cloth, wrap it with a bunch of rubber bands around it, and dip it in a sink of the same wine you used. Let it dry, remove the rubber bands, and Voila – tie-dyed table cloth, or you could turn it into a bohemian shirt/dress of some sort. OK, I know I’ve mentioned I had hippy teachers in grade school during the 70’s LOL.

  166. “Then again you all sound ignorant and disgruntled.”

    We love you too.

  167. Anon, name one thing Obama stands for so you don’t sound ignorant and disgruntled.

  168. anon: And isn’t a shame for you to come here at midnight looking for someone of your own intelligence to chat with? We are such a sorry bunch but we really appreciate you dropping in to give us your opinion. Kind of hard for us sometimes to wait up for the morning edition.

    No date tonight dear?

  169. I love me some Patsy! Thanks for posting this rd.

Checked the way back machine and could not access the Des Moines article either. Sure hope you find it.

  170. Someone is staying up late on a Friday nite after their disgruntled parents went to bed …. I recognise the syndrome from the old mp3.com days

  171. Gee, someone called me ignorant. Guess I better vote for Obama. That’ll make me gruntled and smarterer.

  172. I’m Irish Catholic like Joe Biden. Since I am not voting for him what does this make me?

  173. Sad News: Natalie Cole is hospitalized from the side effects of Chemo from Hepatitis C she got from drug abuse.

  174. Pat Johnson, I’m sitting here with your husband. How do you like that “dear”.

  175. There is a special place in Hell for Catholics who do not vote for Caholics,…or something like that.

  176. Shucks, now my gruntle’s been dissed and I don’t know what a gruntle does in such an instance.

  177. sophomoric some?

  178. anon is probably between dates right now.

What time is the next booty-call, er “date?”

  179. Pat does it make you ..re-churched?? or is that only in cases of ex communication
where ex communication is being interdicted from the church and not communicating with an ex …

  180. anon: You can have him! I like it very much. He was always seeking someone to match his intellect and it looks like he was able to find it in you. I hope you will both be very happy.
And don’ t let the fact that he can’t read or write bother you. And he could never count past 10. He is very good at reaching things on high shelves!

  181. I’ve had a bad day. A close friend of 40 years, my old college roommate, has started sending me virulently anti-Palin chain mail garbage, really off the wall nonsense. This afternoon, I let her know how much this second witch-burning of the year upsets me. By way of reply, I received yet more nonsense with a note saying, “Well, this is what we’re receiving, so I’m passing it on” (to dozens of addressees). This from a woman who’s always been oblivious to matters political.

Then this evening my next door neighbor, previously a staunch Hillary supporter, became openly aggressive and judgmental since, under virtual cross examination, I told her I simply cannot vote for Obama. She despises Palin as someone with ‘no experience’ and no business being in office as the mother of a 4-month old special needs child. My neighbor is a through and through career woman, a PhD who taught all through her sons’ childhoods. Pot meet kettle.

Damn, this is just so very depressing. What IS the problem with otherwise rational women vis a vis Sarah Palin???

  182. Thank God Pat. You now know where to send the subpoena for the deliquent child support.

  183. Pat Johnson, I’m sitting here with your husband. How do you like that “dear”.

That’s funny. You apparently have not read PJ’s posts, I’m sure she’d say you deserve him.

  184. Kat5: The explanation eludes me as well. Especially more so when you consider that she has had more experience than BO and seems to have more interest in whatever task she takes on. He could care less.

  185. Pat – you forgot to tell “him” about the “disease”.

  186. Carol, heh.

  187. Omg LOLOLOL anon is a teenager up late after their parents went to bed LOLOLOLOL its called

anon = I have a computer and I know how to type enough to make words , and I have nothing better to do with my life than to try and stir up shit …= troll

  188. I’ve got to go to bed, but I’ve got to know: PJ, are you just dying from envy or ROFLOL?

  189. anon is the type that is the reason beer comes in a paper bag.

Sometimes 6 beers isn’t enough, so you put the bag over her head.

  190. Carol: I want her to be “surprised”.

  191. Pat, heh too.

  192. What is wrong with these people??? anon is probably headed to a cabinet post in an Obama administration.

  193. Sorry all, been there, and I know there’s at least one man in my life I would love nothing more than to unload onto some catty, witty, narcissistic predator with a high five and peace be with you.

  194. Carol:

    Erectile dysfunction isn’t a disease!

  195. OMG, you guys are too, too funny!

  196. Debbie Wasserman has lost all credibility. She should go home and raise her 3 children.

  197. Pat, you are the funniest person I’ve ever met on the internet. I am choking laughing out loud with my hand over my mouth so I don’t wake up my husband.

    with love and bitterness,

  198. phoenix: I could not get the desmoinesregister.com video to work, but it is also on youtube.

First is the McCain endorsement, then the Hillary one.

  199. myiq…drums.

  200. tabbycat/Terri: Is that really you? You have been away so long. Glad to see you back!

  201. Kat5, It’s beyond me. I’m a left-leaning feminist and I think she’s great. Loved her convention speech and think it’s wonderful to see a woman in the VP spot even if I don’t agree with her on the issues. The vicious sexist attacks on Palin are just as disgusting as the assault Hillary endured. These people are blind to their own ugly hate. They need to take a deep breath and look in the mirror.

  202. myiq: I have some e-mails that may help in my spam filter. Say the word.

  203. Pat,

I don’t like to be an alarmist, but the Obots are fascists. Did you see the video Sugar has up in which Obama tells the audience they are his ambassadors, they have to talk to everyone they know, argue with them and “get in their face?” That is creepy, but it’s what they’ve been doing all along, isn’t it?

  204. Ok, that was fun and brought back the good memories.

Good night “my friends” and best of luck!

  205. Once again, Pat, I set them up for you and they give you the credit.

    Eddy is mad.

  206. My kids JUST told me a week or so ago my ex had re- married for the third time back in January . I obvioulsy dont keep up … but then they told me he was moving into MY ZIP CODE which is unacceptable .. but after thinking it thru
I thought no one will know.. even tho he is only six months older than I am he looks like he could be my father …. and it is a big Zip code teehhee

  207. Tabbycat,

I didn’t realize that was you! It’s good to see you. I was just thinking about you a couple of days ago. Please don’t be a stranger.

  208. Carol: He must need to be fed. Again.

  209. Good night UpstateNY.

  210. nite Upstate

  211. It’s really me Pat. I’ve had some issues but glad to be back. I notice that you and myiq and Carol haven’t lost your touch.

I told katie earlier that I tried to go somewhat blogless to see if I could accept Obama because my mom and brother have. Didn’t work. I have never had political arguments with my family…I’m normally the yellow dog one and I’m definitely the most liberal. Anyway, I needed you guys because I felt alone.

I can’t deal with sexism from either side. I’m the only female in my family who has worked in a man’s world so they just don’t understand.

  212. I think MO is having her teeth fixed. He mouth is looking different.

  213. Terri: We are still here, batting things back and forth. How is the puppy doing?

  214. thanks bb. I’ve still read all the blog posts. I just didn’t do the comments. I couldn’t stand it any longer!

  215. Her mouth is looking different.

  216. MO does look different. Can’t say what it is but they seem to have softened her looks up a bit. But someone needs to tell her she will never be another Halle Berry.

  217. It’s her mouth. Her bite is getting worked on.

  218. Her bite? To what size? Alligator or snake?

  219. His blood disease is gone! There is a 50% chance of relapse so I’m crossing my fingers. Laney (from here) told me some medicine to give him and it helped, I think.

He hurt his back now and is back on heavy duty steroids. Poor little fellow. He’s my baby so I’ll do anything for him. Thank you for remembering!

  220. bb: I watched the video. Brings back memories of the 30s somewhat.

  221. bb, it’s like the Obots are the most delusional people on the face of the Earth. They think Obama is tanking because he hasn’t been enough of a frat boy jerk, and neither have they.

Yes, guys, you need to get meaner and more aggressive. And while you’re at it, insult people more, get more delusional, drink some more kool-ade. That’s what people don’t like about you, your kindness, your rationality.

  222. Terri; I think he was having some difficulty the last time we heard from you but was slowly progressing. Glad to hear he has made it this far.

  223. Thanks. I’m very hopeful for him. I’m also broke from vet bills. I think I’m going to get him a SSN and take a tax deduction for him. 🙂

  224. Seriously: But in his won way he has given them permission to continue acting like juvenile delinquents. That “get in their face” part is troubling. Are we going to find ourselves backed into a wall by a group of Obots involved in “prostelyzing?

  225. Dolly Parton is on. She was on one of my flights. I got her autograph for my son. It was when she and Kenny did “Islands in the Stream”.

She was the most beautiful person I have ever seen. Her skin was like cream. The pilots piled out of the cockpit to see her. The ground crew were upstairs waiting for her to get off of the plane instead of unloading the baggage. She had tiny feet and high heels – she was almost tippy-toe.

I wish she hadn’t had a couple of bad face procedures.

  226. Terri,

That’s great news that he’s doing so well, but sorry he hurt his back. You are a wonderful “mom.”

  227. Thanks, taw486.

Here’s the Des Moines Register video endorsement of Hillary, alone:

  228. Dolly was someone you felt comfortable with for some reason. I always liked her and she has a beautiful voice to match.

  229. Pat,

I’m more worried about what they’ll do to us if he wins. Don’t forget he wants to recruit middle school and high school kids to assist in “national security duties.” They will all be wearing light blue uniforms with the Obama logo. The “Blueshirts.”

  230. OMG – Jay had Brooke Shields and Dolly standing together. It was Mutt and Jeff.

  231. I have Palin withdrawal.

They don’t have any events tomorrow.

I may be forced to clean.

  232. and wouldn’t it be cool if Dolly endorsed McCain and Palin

  233. Palin is great!

  234. bb: Quite honestly, the thought of him winning scares me.

  235. Oh god, that’s a scary image. NoBama–for tje sake of the children!

Where others seen underaged bullies, Big O sees opportunity….

  236. And what is the purpose of these little soldiers?

  237. If he wins, it will be in spite of him, not because of him. Any Democrat should be walking away with this election.

I just read on Talkleft that Obama has a week long faith tour next week. One of his surrogates on this tour is a Catholic legal scholar who wrote an op-ed about voting no on same sex marriage in CA. I’m sure this McClurklin-like move will be condemned by Daily Kos.

  238. Their purpose is to grow up to be self-promoting espousers of platitudes working for themselves to the neglect of others while claiming to serve a higher goal. You know, grow up to be like teh One.

  239. He’s not going to win. This is the best year the Democrats have had in forever, and all we’re doing is going out of our way to show that we’re incompetent and untrustworthy and we expect to win by default. All the American people asked is for us to meet them halfway and just try to act a little bit serious, and we couldn’t even handle that. Our slogan should be “Vote for us, you contemptible peons!”

  240. Bridget Jones 2 is on. One of my all time favorite movies.

  241. Let’s face it, we barely backed into a win in ’06 thanks to Macaca and that pedophile guy.

  242. Look at this photo. McCain really fucked up.

  243. Is Gaius Balthar in BD2?

  244. BJ2, sorry. I saw it, but I can’t remember.

  245. Who is that?

  246. Got to go get comfortable. Nite, nite.

  247. The guy who played Bridget Jones’ male friend in teh first one?

  248. Thanks for the responses above, y’all. It really helps to feel not so alone on days like this. My husband is a great guy, but that’s just it – he’s a guy. No way can I expect him to understand how much this anti-woman crapola stings (stinks?). Besides, he’s already put in about 10,000 hours (half?) listening to my angry/agonized plaints, first about Hillary, now about Sarah Palin. And he damned sure won’t be voting for Barky – grounds for divorce in the current climate.

  249. I think this whole election is like “Animal Farm”. Obama is the character/pig Napoleon. And his supporters the piglets.

  250. I think it’s kind of important for people here to realize that Obama has no support anywhere. The polls are fake. The ‘financial catastrophe’ was deliberately timed now for the purpose of helping “The One”. I know financial theater, and several of the major players involved in this stunt… one is quite mad, and his behaviour is distinctive. AIG and Lehman were DELIBERATLY deep-sixed now to help “The One”. Specifically, to get him like 40% of the vote so Diebold can do the rest.

Obama is such a total loser.

  251. Carol, you still there? How did McCain f*ck up? The picture I saw showed a massive turnout at one of the McCain/Palin rallies (at least I think that is what it was).

  252. Just reading this post–have got to go to bed-but just wanted to let ya’ll know that Obama is having a rally here in Jacksonville-FL. tomorrow. My cousin’s daughter in law (a bot) is working it and they called them in for a meeting tonight. They think they will have 10,000 people. I find that hard to believe, but will fill in tomorrow.

  253. Leave it to me to celebrate no o’clock in the morning, but I thought I’d share. I just got another scholarship! It came Tuesday after school resumed. God knows I can use it. W00t!

  254. Reg:

OPM is the way to educate!

  255. It will be a sin for me to add one word to what Sugar n’ Spice! You go girl. You make me proud my sister.

  256. Woot! Patsy! You go, girl! Dang, you’re good. Really nice and sharp summary (funny too). Sorry for what happened to your blog. Like they say, people don’t throw rocks at trees that don’t bear fruit (or something like that).

But, on the other hand, I am really surprised that wordpress can apparently be hacked into quite easily. What’s wordpress’s accountability for things like this? Surely, they must at least have backups. Someone whose blog or email has been hacked should at the very least have recourse to some technical help to investigate the hacking and to recover data. If not, then the internets is in a really sorry state. I mean, these hackers are not that smart, really.

  257. Woohoo, Regency! Congratulations! How did you manage a scholarship when all you do is hang around here? (kidding) 🙂 Go and celebrate!

  258. At MSNBC
you can read about how the Des Moines Register bad mouthed Joe Biden:

” — Don’t forget to read the paper’s candidate-by-candidate justification of the also-rans. Note that there’s not a negative word about Obama. And take a look at the continued questioning of Biden’s “loquaciousness” and “ill-considered remarks related to race.” ”

The link to that page indicates it is also missing.

  259. Read the comments on this thread, before Jeralyn wakes up and deletes most of them:

  260. That was such a letdown reading all six comments. That’s it? I kept looking for a next page button. I’m used to reading hundreds of comments per post like the ones here. The first poter let her have it, though.

  261. Did you know Fox was non-partisan? Eversince Ailes signed a “temporary truce” with Obama they are helping out too

  262. My latest:

I won’t post it here, cuz it involves some personal issues.

  263. EOD:

If I was Roger Ailes I would want Obama to win. Then FOX News can spend four years bashing him and blaming him for everything that goes wrong.

  264. Regency-That’s the way to go!!!
You keep working on those books and you’ll get as far as Hillary!!!!

  265. “Edge”
This is the Obama game. If one of his regular press people dare to question him….he cuts them off.
If FOX allows this then they get nothing else.
However, you just gave me an idea.
There should be a scheduled ROTATION of ALL campaign reports. They can still have the same ones; but they rotate
every X weeks. Sort-of-like the “chair-game”; their out as the campaigns reduce( I’m including primaries).
We the people can DEMAND this IMMEDIATELY, for them to show they are “trying to regain public trust”!!
Notice the only “news conferences” he does is with them, on his plane or outside his bus; ever since the “left after 8 questions thing” that was way back in March.

  266. Patsy wins the “you go girl” award this week!

  267. Patsy, Wow! I plan to share this with a few of my Obama supporting friends just so they can begin to understand why I’m not with them. Thank you!

    Congratulations, Regency!

  268. Patsy…you’re the bomb!.. Guess bots can’t handle the truth. I hope your blog gets up and running again.

  269. I’m afraid if PUMA doesn’t get on board with JM, OBAMA is going to win this race.

We’re not just fighting the DNC and Obambi anymore, the CLINTONS are behind him, which is why his campaign has stepped up to the plate more.

If you aren’t neck deep into this election and the primaries BO can very easily fool people with his “magic” BS——

It wasn’t an easy decision for me, it took me MONTHS to get there. I like the “normalcy” I see and feel with John and Sarah. BO and his croonies give me the willies.

At least consider it, I know I am going against my whole BEING, but I’m not willing to do nothing, and with this crisis, I don’t think us spreading the word, is going to be good enough.

It’s time to make a CHOICE—McCain or Obama,

Love to you all, but I will be sigining in on JM’S website later today, and with EVERY INCH of ME, I HATE BUSH, but I don’t see him in JOHN———and quite honestly it isn’t GW I seethingly despise, it’s SR.———-he’s behind ALOT of this.

Ever hear of the “illuminaries” —-they really exist.

    Talk to you later.

Love and prayers for our Country and PUMA’S

  270. ~”The only emails I’ve received from Obama supporters have been negative, sexist attacks on Palin”~

I get McCain and Palin attacks advising me to take some form of action to stop them because they are “bad” people or McCain is “old” and Palin “evil” but giving no reason why I should vote for Obama other than that they have faith in his ability to “change” Washington; they usually don’t even include “for the better” in their propaganda, just stop McCain/Palin.

And of course I agree we should change things politically, but change means exchanging one thing for another so it can be good or bad. Things certainly “changed” when GWB took over Our White House from President Clinton but only about 20% (core Bushies) think it was a good thing.

And here we are again, a candidate with no track record and no papertrail once more asking us to give him the keys to Our house. The last time that happened (2000) we ended up having the jewels in our Bill of Rights looted, our habeas corpus cloak stolen and our children held hostage to war.

No wonder the lyrics of the song from the Who keeps playing in my mind: “We don’t get fooled again. Don’t get fooled again! No, no! ”

  271. Ever hear of the “illuminaries” —-they really exist.

Did you mean Illuminati? That’s the sort of thing you’ll hear about more on a Ron Paul type forum, but yes, they were a real secret society behind the many revolutions in Europe. George Washington mentions them in his letters.

Very few people are aware of this, but the original Ku Klux Klan had some ties to Illuminist figures, and considered itself an American adaptation of the Illuminati.

  272. My fairly non-political hubby who would have voted Clinton told me this morning he is voting McCain.

It’s all about the taxes and TRUST for him. He said that the only Democrat he would have trusted with his pocketbook was a Clinton, because he believed that if she raised his taxes, she would have done so prudently, and gotten this country some real benefits from it. He would be willing to (patriotically) pay more under those circumstances.

But the rest of the Dems? He says not a one of them has demonstrated any ability to handle money, or to achieve a goddamn thing with the extra money they are always whining he ought to give them.

He doesn’t think the McCain will do much either, but for him the choice is:

    a) Take my money and do a crappy job, or
    b) Leave my money alone and do a crappy job.

He’s going with (b), and hoping Hillary runs in 2012.

  273. Okay, this comment on Sugar’s blog made me cry:

    Hello Sugar,

I’d like to tell you, and your readers about my experience.

I was out food shopping with my ten year old daughter last week. She’s such a special, kind hearted person and I love spending time with her.

While we were waiting in line, she was looking at some of the magazine covers. She pointed out one that had Governor Palin on the cover.

We talk about this election a lot in our home and my husband & I encourage our children (We also have a 13 year old daughter and a 16 year old son) to express their own opinions. She and my 13 year old daughter were both excited when Hillary was in the race. They have since been following Palin on the news and are excited about her. At their age, the “issues” like gas prices and the war, matter less than “girl power”. 🙂

So anyway, she was excited to see Palin on the cover and said, “Look mommy, it’s Sarah!” (like we’re on a first name basis with er-lol) At that point, I had started putting my groceries on the counter and I heard the man behind me mumble something. I turned around to see if anything was wrong and my daughter had a “deer in the headlights” kind of expression on her face. I quietly asked her is she was okay and her eyes started to well up with tears. She whispered in my ear, “That man said only racists vote for Sarah”. I looked for him but he had already left the line. After I paid, we went off to the side so I could comfort her, as she was getting ready to cry.

Let me give you a little background on our family. My husband & I are white. Five years ago, we adopted our three children from foster care. My 16 year old son and my 10 year old daughter are brown skinned (biracial). They’re both beautiful and take pride in being a mixture of two races. I teach my children to love themselves and be proud of who they are. We talk openly and honestly about racism and the prejudices that are in this world. These children couldn’t be anymore a part of me than if I gave birth to them myself. They are in my heart and I love them with all of it.

I asked her why she was crying, thinking she was upset that the man thought of me as a racist. She said she was upset because she wanted to yell at him but she got chocked up. She said she was mad because she knew I was going to vote for her and she wanted to tell yell at him that her mommy was not racist. I thanked her for wanting to defend me and told her that I loved her for it.

My point is, before any of you Obama supporters “get in someone’s face”, please stop and think. You’re speaking to someone’s mother, daughter or sister. That person has experiences you know nothing about. Don’t assume you have it all figured out. And please, if there are children around, keep your opinions to yourself. To that man…whoever you are…you upset my daughter. You made a ten year old girl cry. That tore at my heart more than your words ever could, had you said them to my face.

I’m sorry about the length of this, but I can’t post this on my blog because if my husband read that some man made his “little peanut” cry, he’d be waiting outside the store until he saw him. He doesn’t take that kind of stuff lightly. Say anything you want about him, but you upset his baby girl and all hells going to break loose.

    Thank you!

  274. Patsy – wonderful!

As for bogus registrations, I’m worried too. I passed by the NYC City Hall during lunch yesterday, where they were having an anti-Iran war demonstration (no, I didn’t misspell that). Some Obots were there handing out voter registration forms, helping fill them out, etc. I was tempted to confront them and say “who’s paying you” but I couldn’t go back into the Fed building with a black eye. 🙂

  275. Someone on my blog says Jeralyn is deleting Hillary supporter comments that are against Obama and rehashing the primary, but leaving Obama supporter comments against Hillary and rehashing the primary.

  276. Oh Lawd, Hill was part of the prayer circle also intent on theocracy according to these fools in the primary, remember? Actually, Palin seems typical libertarian Alaskan on social views.

  277. I didn’t have time to read through all the comments, so if this has been suggested already, forgive the duplication. If you want to find the editorial in question, I think you could go to the library where they have hard copies of the newspaper that can be viewed on “video disk”—I’m not sure what they call it, but you can just ask for the name of the newspaper and the date or approximate dates and they pull it up and you can look at a screen shot of each paper, page by page. Those can’t be scrubbed, because it is part of the library archives. That would be the same as burning a book.

Just a suggestion…if you know anyone who lives in Des Moines, they can help you. It will take time if you aren’t sure of the date, but it will be well worth it.

  278. Mary Ellen:

Where did you get that gravatar?

And how is John-boy these days?

  281. michelina, you sound a lot like kenny over at Allegre’s corner.

I’ve been a family member here since early JUNE and have visited (0.00 / 0)
here EVERY DAY> WE have discussed, disagreed, agreed, cried, laughed and sang.
With this Crisis and the inevitability of it happening, it’s TIME to MAKE A DECISION>

I made mine today, it’s taken me MONTHS to go there, through all the anger, rage and rant, I still couldn’t do it until today.

LEADERS don’t do NOTHING, they make their MOVE when the time is at hand.

We miss our HILLARY and the more we see her the more we miss her. I played her speech, to put me to sleep last night, (gives me a calm, and I like noise when I go to bed, big family)

Anyway, I want you to know, I COMPLETELY, without QUESTION, thoroughly with EVERY INCH OF ME, I HATE BUSH, not so much GW, but SR———-I know he’s behind all of this MESS in this country.

Capskunk, LK, NH, ever heard of the “illuminaries”—they really exist.

It’s time to make a decision. For all the people in our country who have not been “neck” deep in this election, can easily be taken in with Barky’s magical BS—and with the Clinton’s stumping for him, EVEN MORE SO.

WE have a DECISION to make, and it’s TWO CANDIDATES:

Barack Obama or John McCain.————-spreading the word is no longer going to be good enough—–it’s time to make the MOVE.

Love to this Family here, and prayers for our Country and PUMA.

  282. scrubs57 – I was being sarcastic because of all of the negativity regarding McCain’s pick of “our Sarah”.

  283. Congratulations Regency. We are proud of you.

  285. Seriously – yes, same characters from the first movie.

  286. Good Morning!

I’ve got to go to a wedding shower in a couple of hours and haven’t bought a gift yet.

I don’t know the couple at all (I’m friends with the Grandmother)

    Does anyone have a suggestion?

  287. If you believe Obama violated the Logan act go to this link. It’s so easy to voice your concern.

Note: use the “send for free” option.

  288. I swear to god, is someone paying Jeralyn by the word for PDS posts? Or is she having trouble remembering that McCain is at the top of the ticket? I can understand that they are dedicated to electing Obama over there, but the silliness of their PDS is highly ineffective. Since BTD is busy this weekend, TalkLeft is must miss blogging till he comes back.

  289. The editorial has been scrubbed from the Des Moines Register site, but it is still on Hillary’s:

  290. Just a reminder for those who may have not made up their minds which ticket is the most qualified:

Wedding gift – a gift certificate from the High End Grocery Store – Central Market??????????

  291. Katie
    depending on your budget
I dont know why but this just popped into my head A coffee grinder , they can always use it for something else if they already have one or some exquisitely beautiful pillows … for pillow talk 😉 ……. they have to sleep …eventually

  292. Okay, that went into the spam filter.

    AP says we’re rac*sts

    (no link)

  293. Katibird:

Lingerie – the gift that keeps on giving

  294. Coffee Grinder!!

swanspirit — that’s IT!! Thank you!

  295. myIQ, I would. But, I’ve never met the girl. I’d have no idea what size to buy. 🙂

  296. This econmic crisis has crystallized it for me: I can’t stand either one of them.

They have no solutions; they just engage in pointless, destructive, misleading finger-pointing.

Trashing each others’ advisors — how childish is that?

  297. “Race is not the biggest factor driving Democrats and independents away from Obama. Doubts about his competency loom even larger, the poll indicates. More than a quarter of all Democrats expressed doubt that Obama can bring about the change they want, and they are likely to vote against him because of that. ”

myiq2xu, The competency issue is the biggest issue for most people, not race. Plus, many people recognized the corruption in the dimocratic party.

  298. Cofee grinder is good. Its one of those things that even if you don’t use it everyday it doesn’t take up a lot of space. I got one for a shower gift and I had it for about 15 years before I had to get a new one.

  299. Not only that plural .. has anyone noticed the federal government just put a 90 day moratorium on foreclosures .. NOW WHO SUGGESTED THAT ??

sorry for screaming but she suggested that so long ago and they RIDICULED HER

    the stupid fucking fucks

  300. AP story has this headline:

Whites lift McCain to slim lead over Obama in poll

But if you read the article, it says this:

Obama’s “weak showing with whites is generally no worse than Democrat John Kerry did in his losing but close 2004 race against President Bush.”

  301. Wow I missed the party – but I’m sure happy to wake up to Patsy – WOW, told it like it is as always!

Patsy, PLEASE consider a run for office someday!

  302. katiebird: Get a gift certificate. Safest bet.

  303. birdgal:

    You mean I’m not a rac*st?

  304. Katiebird – agree with Pat, gift certificate!

  305. Regency: I am so proud of you! Congratulations to one of the smartest young people I know. Use all this education for only doing good things. Your future awaits!

  306. katiebird:

Or cash, in unmarked small bills

  307. swanspirit, yes yes yes.

Can we have Hillary back now?

  308. myiq2xu, I don’t think so. If you are, then you’re in good company with a quarter of dims who have questions about BO’s competency. I bet, you’re relieved to hear that you’re not a r**ist.

  309. myiq2xu once again you blind me with your brilliance 😉 what a leap and I am right behind you and adding

we all might not be racists shhhh keep a lid on it we wouldn’t want to alert the media they would jump right on that …..

  310. plural, on September 20th, 2008 at 10:26 am

    Thank you for finding that!

  311. OH HECK
my previous comment is in moderation i used the r wurd without thinking so sorry
so here tis with the correction

myiq2xu 😉 once again you blind me with your brilliance what a leap and I am right behind you and adding

we all might not be r*cists shhhh keep a lid on it we wouldn’t want to alert the media they would jump right on that …..

  312. YAY!!!

  313. I’m glad I kept the receipt for these white sheets

  314. Politico also has an article playing up the race question:

I will never understand why the media is doing this. It seems so divisive and irresponsible.

  315. I had a comment about race go into moderation; can I get an up or down on it?

  316. cmon now .. there is always tie dye

I am thinking about going with tea stains if i have any left after the party ….

you are making me crack up on air …

  317. NEW POST!!!

  318. Sad to read the Register scrubbed its endorsement of Hillary. Iowa seems to be turning bluer by the day. I wonder if that isn’t a result of being right next to Illinois.

  319. McCain/Palin 08!

  320. I had never been to this location before
I have never felt so aware
of the way that she nurtured my strong soul within
she gave me a reason to care.

    There are some that want me to abandon this place;
tow a line, get in back, don’t be seen.
They want me submissive, forget what I know,
forget all the places we’ve been.

I cannot forget all their acts, their deceit.
They piled their lies high and quite deep.
They want me to stand with their tactics in play.
Their place treats we humans as sheep.

I’ll never go back to what was before
never give up on dreams that I hold.
Because “Hillary sent me” to this very place
and there’s no turning back to your fold.

  321. […] and Sugar have made some amazing videos.  Patsy explained it all a couple of weeks ago and said all that any former Clintonista had to say about why she wasn’t supporting Obama.  […]
