    • America Defeats Germany Again
There’s a good article in Der Spiegel on the German energy/industrial crisis which is worth your time. Basically industries which have high energy costs are being crushed. In particular this means chemical and automotive, both big in Germany, but extends far further. (Indeed, the chemical industry was essentially invented by Germany in the 19th century, and […]

Tuesday: Why Obama’s loss is HIS fault

Because 140 days in the senate, give or take, really *isn’t* a lot of experience, especially compared to somene who has spent two years being a governor.

Because it depends on who is in the top spot.

Because if you can’t look past the color of the skin to the content of the character, you shouldn’t be surprised when others start counting the number of X chromosomes in the karyotype.

Because calling half your voters ‘older and uneducated’ generally doesn’t go over well with them.  (The new one is Reagan Democrats.  Yeah, we holdouts are Reagan Democrats.  Righhht.)

Because depriving the voters of the right to select the candidate they actually want tends to make them peevish.

Because even ‘older, uneducated, Reagan Democrats’ can do the math and can figure out that the numbers don’t add up.

Because scorched earth primaries directed at your own side leave half your party pretty fricking mad at you.

Because calling people racist just because they don’t think you are ready to be president is ill-advised, especially when those people are NOT racist.

Because failing to exercise control of your supporters when they go into bat$#&* crazy sexist mode over the VP pick of your opponent demonstrates a remarkable absence of leadership abilities.

Because expecting the opponent you cheated and humiliated to come to your rescue because she is more credible, dignified and presidential than you just points to your glaring weaknesses as a candidate.

Because you failed to plan for the ruthlessness of the other side.

Because you have failed to stop your fanbase from proselytizing like zombie Jehovah’s Witnesses on crystal meth, annoying and frightening every voter they meet.

Because you can’t stomp all over the intentions of ‘older, uneducated, Reagan Democrats’ as if they don’t matter (don’t roll your eyes at us!) and expect that you can get away with it.

Because rigging the general election is *probably* not in your power, leaving voters one last opportunity to nail your ass to the wall and vote for the other guy who’s actually lookin’ pretty good in comparison right about now.

This list is not exhaustive.  One thing is for damn sure though:  It’s time to stop blaming all of the bad strategy on Hillary Clinton.

  1. “Because you have failed to stop your fanbase from proselytizing like zombie Jehovah’s Witnesses on crystal meth, annoying and frightening every voter they meet.”

    Exactly!!

  2. This is my favorite, and I’ve experienced it first hand:

“Because you have failed to stop your fanbase from proselytizing like zombie Jehovah’s Witnesses on crystal meth, annoying and frightening every voter they meet.”

  3. *applause*
It’s appalling to realize that Obama has done everything in that list.
    Worst. Candidate. Ever.

  4. It don’t matter what you tell them. They won’t listen.

They are young and dumb and full of shit.

Obots think the world is different than when we were young. They have different paradigms and technologies. They are post-rational.

But what do I know, I’m a rac*st redneck who’s stuck in the nineties.

  5. The atrocities continue. At Salon:

    http://www.salon.com/opinion/kamiya/2008/09/09/mistress_palin/

Has all of Left Blogistan except us lost their minds?

  6. Forget the merits; in terms of pure strategy, it bewilders me to see Obama supporters doing their best to split the Democratic party down the middle by hosing Clinton supporters.

I seem to recall from history that the Democrats were split in the 1860 election. How did that turn out?

  7. RD, is there any way to get in touch with you? I think you might have my email address? I have an idea about a campaign event that I think you might be very interested in.

  8. John:

I’ve argued politics all my adult life. I have never been insulted and verbally attacked the way I was this year by Obama supporters, not even by Republicans during the nineties.

They were that way right out the gate.

  9. Washington Post columnist, Eugene Robinson, has written another nasty piece deriding those who think, can you believe it, that MCCAIN, is being treated like a messiah in an article called McCain as Messiah.

“McCain and his campaign aides are right when they insinuate that one candidate is acting as if he thinks voters should accept him, on faith, as their political messiah. They’re just trying to make fun of the wrong one.

All these Obamabots seem to be able to do is project their own critical flaws onto the opposition.

  10. “Because rigging the general election is *probably* not in your power, leaving voters one last opportunity to nail your ass to the wall and vote for the other guy who’s actually lookin’ pretty good in comparison right about now.”

Well, this is all that I needed to hear. I’m going to assume that the *probably* was sarcasm with a foundation that I am unaware of. I’ll now happily ignore CNN specials of voter fraud potentials, and internet articles on Soros’ ownership of major voting machine companies, and relax with a smile all the way to November 4—I’m good!

  11. myiq, same here. I have been involved in many campaigns, and yes it has gotten testy, and bad things said.

But never, ever, have I had the magnitude of hateful venom leveled at me and my candidate as I have this year, not even from batshit crazy Bushbots in 2000 and 2004, much less my own party.

  12. Because you have failed to stop your fanbase from proselytizing like zombie Jehovah’s Witnesses on crystal meth, annoying and frightening every voter they meet.

LOL!!! Thank you for defining the bastsh*t craziness! This tops “hipster-thug Scientologists defending Tom Cruise isn’t cuckoo.”

And I’m NOT a Reagan Democrat – I was 9 when he became president in 1980.

  13. While the left bloggers continue committing electoral hara kiri, McCain’s latest ‘maverick’ ad is brilliant. It’s all about how both he and Sarah have fought not only the other party but *Republicans* as well.

In the increasingly likely event that they win the election, I hope McCain and Palin keep their word.

  14. RD, it may not be an exhaustive list but, it’s pretty close!

Even my mother has joined in the games. I had lunch with her yesterday and it was like she was on the email list for the talking points.

MyIQ? I wish I wasn’t one of the ones to help keep Salon afloat all those years ago. I thought they were a valuable resourse. (well they were then, weren’t they?)

  15. myiq —

I’ve argued politics all my adult life. I have never been insulted and verbally attacked the way I was this year by Obama supporters, not even by Republicans during the nineties.

Yes! It’s like the Obama campaign has some sort of nastiness detector. Some days it surprises me there are any mean Republicans left, they all seem to have been sucked onto the hopey-changey train.

  16. Salon used to be the class act of the online left.

I thought their biased primary coverage was bad, but it’s getting ridiculous.

And I’m getting really tired of people claiming McCain and Palin are insane extremists.

They are typical conservative Republicans. And approximately have this country agrees with their views. That included a bunch of my family.

I don’t agree with them, but I don’t think they are Natural Born Killers either

  17. Not exhaustive, as Katiebird said, because you could probably add one more reason every day. He just doesn’t stop disappointing, failing, and shirking.

I love reason #1 because 140 days is so darned paltry.

  18. It’s been the “anti campaign” – if the stakes weren’t so high for this country – it would be the biggest joke of the century. Do these BZero supporters watch too much fantasy tee vee? the moooovies? There are those that just simply think a certain portion of American voters are stupid – they are soo wrong. Even old timers in the D party went crack meth crazy.

There are a few (3) in the media who have stated watch how Hill and Bill campaign, see how pros address the issues – or, it least address SOME real issues and not your favorites, ie, rac!sm, bitter cling, ageism, sexism.

This is a train wreck – has been pointed out to be a train wreck by us since February, which, only spurred them on to greater lows.

This is just the beginning – there are millions of voters who have not had the time and do not know the full story of the D party melt down. Also, these people are not going to change horse, methods(supporters of BZero) too much hubris, too many $$$ involved. It’s like a rerun of Dubya(2000) in the media. Guess what – been there, done that. CNN, MSOBAMA, – shills – no credibility whatsoever. Oh, those “powerful, creative” LEFT blogs – those koolaid laced, incompetents – they look like the batshit crazies that they are.

They thought they had a sure thing – any D would do this year……. ha ha ha ha ha. They thought they could poop on the best the D party ever had. Karma is bit@h and so am I!

It’s not over by any means. Who knows what depths they will plunge to – I am enjoying some truth coming out, but, gawd, it is so sad to see the waste of a real talent, real progressive and competent candidate Hillary Clinton. I will never trust any party again. I will not vote D until all those turncoats are flushed out – Pelosi, Reid, Dean, Kerry, KENNEDY, Durbin, Daushle, Fowler, Brazile – long list.

Like Boston Boomer stated in her latest post – there is a lot of work to be done. Constant vigilance indeed – I’m in it for the long haul.

  19. myiq: Has all of Left Blogistan except us lost their minds?

Yes. He is scared to death of her and yet squirming in anticipation. And that’s why he’s worried–he knows, or thinks he knows, other men will go for her for the same reason. They have one-track minds (or at least they have one sector dedicated to sex 24/7).

He’s more worried about the mens’ vote here than the womens’.

  20. Since this is the guy who promised to bring a gun to a knife fight, I probably would have said: “Because you can’t run a presidential campaign like it’s West Side Story…”

  21. Valhalla:

When the primaries started I was a regular at Balloon Juice. (It was different than it is now)

I was hoping Gore would run, and I really didn’t have a firm second choice, although I said I was supporting Edwards (I figured why bother checking out the candidates too closely, most of them would be gone before I got to vote anyway)

I had Hillary 4th on my tentative list, mainly because I was concerned she would be unelectable due to the old nineties CDS stuff. I hardly paid any attention to Obama.

I was still leaning towards Edwards when I found myself getting attacked by Obots for defending Hillary from recycled right-wing smears.

Eventually, things got so bad I quit hanging out there. You simply couldn’t have a rational discussion.

  22. The NYT had a photo up last night of a young woman handing out Obama literature. It was sad as she was dressed raggedy and disheveled and people on the street were holding their arms out at her as if to ward her off. They took the photo down but this is the impression that the converts and true believers are starting to have on the public. Acting like a fanatic is one thing but looking like one is even more alarming.

  23. Has anyone seen this Fact Check published by Newsweek
    http://www.newsweek.com/id/157986

Surprised it is Newsweek – since they are part of the anti Hillary machine.

  24. “Because calling people racist just because they don’t think you are ready to be president is ill-advised, especially when those people are NOT racist.”

I am black – I wonder what O would call me Uncle Tom, Oreo, sellout, house slave, …

I guess being an independent thinker is not allowed in the O campaign. It is really sad. As I have mentioned in another response – I just don’t talk about politics with friends and family anymore as none of the discussion is based on logic but all on emotion.

  25. If you see the scandalette du jour re: Palin concerning her per diem claims, here’s the straight skinny:

You have to read the article carefully to figure this out, but what the story ultimately reveals is that Palin (a) billed the state for most expenses allowed by law, including per diem when she stayed in her own home (her “duty station” was the state capitol of Juneau) in Wasilla; (b) didn’t bill the state for other expenses, when she could have done so lawfully, such as per diems for her children; and (c) spent a lot less money on expenses than did her predecessor, especially on travel and by ridding herself of the state’s personal chef.

    http://volokh.com/posts/1220936107.shtml

  26. “…never, ever, have I had the magnitude of hateful venom leveled at me and my candidate as I have this year…”

As I’ve mentioned, I’ve been around for many a primary fight, and the nastiest one I remember from recent years was the Dean-Kerry pie fight. But that one absolutely pales in comparison to what happened this time.

I used to visit the Orange Cheeto daily, until it became inhospitable first to Edwards supporters and then to Hillary supporters. Way early on in the primary I opined that Obama was the worst candidate the Democratic Party had run in 30 years and was run out of town on a rail. (I wasn’t banned but I was made to feel so unwelcome that I self-banned. Haven’t been back since and don’t miss it.)

  27. Gary Kamiya ought to be trussed up like a moose and forced to watch Obama debates over and over. Either the dems are tone deaf when it comes to sexism, or they really enjoy trashing women. I wonder if Gary Kamiya believes he would have voted for Hillary if she dressed like the picture that goes with his wonderfully enlightening “Dominatrix” article.

  28. AAO: I’ve never seen an AA Democrat called an Oreo; that’s usually reserved for black Republicans– but a lot of things can and will happen before this surreal election is over.

  29. Isolde:

I think this is the image you are talking about

I have run into this volunteers in DC – it is funny to see their reaction when I tell them I am not voting for Obama. The way I get approached is like – here comes a black guy and he is probably not registered or he is bound to vote for Obama – not!

  30. AAO said

I am black – I wonder what O would call me Uncle Tom, Oreo, sellout, house slave, …

they already have. I saw those very comparisons at the cheeto and on sites that have linked to us like this one:

    sojournerblog.blogspot.com/

  31. It occurs to me that the whole “storyline” has changed as of yesterday…. BO looks like a guy who “had it all” and has now lost it.

    America doesn’t like losers.

  32. Odd that an overwhelming majority of AA voters are for the AA candidate but the same is not true for female voters. While I’m not quite ready to embrace all of affirmative action, this study about female leadership Powerful Women: Does Exposure Reduce Bias? –in which they say yes, it does for the second, but not the first candidate–does make you pause a bit:

    http://www.marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2008/08/powerful-women.html

  33. Riverdaughter,

Whatever you had for breakfast today, can I have some? That’s perfect. Purrrrrrfect! (You had me at zombie Jehovah’s Witnesses. I’ll never get that one out of my brain.)

  34. JohninCA: Well it is happening now. Most people thought it was only reserved for Republicans until now (by the way that does not make it right either). The disgust I see when I respond I am not voting for O though – is the same I have seen for the few Black Republicans I know. You don’t have to say it now – I know now when I am relegated to that group.

  35. Found this on another blog, if anyone is interested:

Now that Barack Obama has been officially nominated by the Democratic Party, the People of Color (POC) PUMA group is looking to connect with other people who want to be proactive in keeping him from winning the presidency. Please let me know what you are doing? We would like to help out.
We look forward to hearing from you.
    email: pocpuma@aol.com
    POCPUMA.com … JusSayNoDeal.com

  36. Oops!

Jeralyn dove in head first on per diem-gate.

“This is your brain. This is your brain on Kool-aid. Any Questions?”

  37. Thanks WMCB:
Will go check it out …

  38. AAO, thanks for the link to the Newsweek article. Good stuff. Too bad I hadn’t read it before Sunday when an Obot friend ran over to me and the first thing out of his mouth was “Yikes, I wonder what books Sarah Palin will burn?” I didn’t hear about the bruhaha and said something to the effect that you shouldn’t believe everything you hear. I guess I was right but these Obots are beyond the pale and past help.

  39. “The GOP is working the id and the gonads. Let the Democrats appeal to reason — the Grand Old Party is casting its lot with drives located deeper within America’s collective reptilian brain.”

… dominatrix, sex appeal…. all the things HRC didn’t show but Bill found everywhere. Maybe women are working the side of the street they know delivers when testosterone yields to release. Sometimes you have to ace’m. The irony of this point is that the Democrats are “accused” of appealing to reason. Ahem!

  40. Where are we folks? Holding my vote out from Obama and supporting downticket dems like O’Reilly in MA is my game plan. I guess I wish for some greatness for Hillary, something to keep her leading our country even if she isn’t president. It’s sooo depressing.

  41. Here is an interesting source for Palin Rumor Information.

  42. CW has a post listing the dates of the VP and P debates:
    http://www.correntewire.com/debate_dates_and_speculation

    First presidential debate:

  43. myiq2xu, on September 9th, 2008 at 8:17 am Said:

    About the salon article.

It is interesting to see the take the author has on the Palin pick.

Republicans are suddenly the party of sex, women, fun

I, for one, do not see it from a sexual point of view even if you assume the author is correct that people are having an emotional reaction to the pick, a premise I do not agree with. For me, if it is emotional. It is about Palin’s youth and vibrance, and a female to female connection. Even though I know many men objectify women. I can’t believe that any man no matter how titllated they are would vote for a ticket because one of the candidates is hot.
I think this article says a lot more about the author than anything relevant to the election.

  44. I’m a liberal Democrat, with a college degree and with adequate and comfortable income. I supported Hillary Clinton during the primaries and will probably just stay home on election day.

A commenter above spoke about Salon earlier. Get this…. Yesterday on MSNBC’s Race for the White House, Salon writer Joan Walsh said that Governor Palin looks like a “Walmart woman”! America shops at Walmart, I shop at Walmart and Ms. Walsh has just contributed to a McCain/Palin victory. When will the Democrats ever learn to cut out the elitist, look down your nose at the rest of America gig?

    Signed,
A Liberal (always have voted Democratic) Activist Walmart Woman

  45. On second thought …. on election day I’m writing in Hillary Clinton’s name. I am so po’d at the DNC and Donna Brazille for once again losing us an election.

  46. Because he is soooooooo unlikeable.

  47. Itoldyouso, Me too.

  48. My cousin, who has a genius IQ and who has known me all his life, commented on a post I made on Facebook of a Confluence entry. He clearly didn’t read the entry and took me to task for being “pro-Palin” saying that she is against everything Hillary is for, blah blah blah…I wrote him back in one final attempt to explain I am a LIBERAL and that’s why I can’t vote for Obama, McCain or Palin. I hate to say it, but my cousin, whom I love, is an Obot who doesn’t listen. He just assumes I have become a Republican. (I know some people here are voting McCain and I am not being critical of that. I hope McCain wins.) It makes me mad that the Obots assume we have lost our minds and suddenly become alien beings, but I realize, I feel the same way about them. How is it that Democrats can’t talk to Democrats anymore. Obama is the most divisive “unifier” I have ever seen next to George W. He has torn our party apart. We need to raise a new one from the ashes.

  49. Thanks for the sanity (again) RD! While I was in Denver, one of those “zombie” over-the-top zealot BO dellies asked if he could put his hand on my broken leg and heal it (in the name of “you know who”). Heaven help us all! Keep up the good and true fight. Next “causmo” is on me.
    Cheers,
    SCL

  50. Because taking funds from foreign interests (Indonesia, Nigeria et al) and campaigning in foreign countries for world attention and adoration is illegal in the first instance and really twists Americans in the second.

Watch carefully on write-in voting—it probably accomplishes nothing and is likely to simply get your ballot either tossed or wind up as a vote for Obama.

  51. Priceless! Beautiful!

This blog is perfect! I think I’ll get it printed out and hang it on my wall!

  52. SCL, weren’t you on fox saying you might vote for BO now?

  53. Funny how concerned the Obots are about what Hillary stands for.

A few months ago they were violently opposed to everything she stood for.

  54. Part of reality is understanding people…which the Obama borg does NOT…

“The Myth of the Grief-Stricken Hillary Democrats”

    http://insightanalytical.wordpress.com/2008/09/09/the-myth-of-the-grief-stricken-hillary-democrats/

kenosha Marge….gives a reality check to the Democratic Party, the DNC, and corporate media, who are missing the point on why there are so many disaffected Democrats….a great read!!

  55. I like how BTD and others are confident that McCain’s convention bump will naturally fade away.

Probably when those stupid PUMAs fall in line and start supporting Teh Precious

Better sit down while you’re waiting, BTD

  56. insight, for me, I don;t see any difference in the Dem party and Rep party. I mean, I am not stupid. I realize they talk different platforms, but if you look beyond what they say to what they do. The policies are always slanted to the money interests.
I believed Clinton would strike a good balance between business and the avergae person, because I witnessed Bill do it.

  57. Kim Jong Il is gravely ill probably from stroke.

I could’ve written this about my favorite blog hang-out.

And this attitude continues today, although it’s taken on a weird “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” vibe. Anyone who expresses doubts about ascendancy of the One is attacked. Anyone who fails to see the brilliance of the One is attacked. They’re even attacking their own. The only purpose of a liberal blog to His followers is to clap louder.

  59. Please watch Palin debate with Gov. opponents in Alaska available on c-span. This stuff about her being anti-sex education, contraception etc. is just not so and should not continue to be repeated as fact on this site. In this debate she says that abstinence only ought to be considered but also says she is definitely for contraception. Also her pro-life stance is not at all what is being painted on the blogs; it is very much a “this is my personal belief and how I intend to live my life, teach my children”—I am pro-choice but I respect those who choose a pro-life stance as their personal belief and do not go around trying to force it on everyone else.

  60. Biden has been forced to declare he is personally Pro-Life.

That should be the end of the Roe vs. Wade bs put out there.

If we are to fear Palin, then we must fear Biden.

  61. Just checked w/ MA elections division re write in candidates. The bad news, apparently the only candidate who submitted their paperwork to be placed on the ballot as a write in is Alan Keyes. The good news, all write in votes, whether the candidate is listed or not, are considered “other” and are not attributed to party.

  62. Carol, I saw that. They are being the biggest hypocrites. If you can let Biden slide because it is his “personal belief”. You’ve got to give Palin a break too. The only thing you could criticize her for is if she used her power as an elected official to restrict abortion. Did she do this? I know a lot of Democrats have when they went along with all of the Republican laws on parental consent and late term restrictions.

  63. From what I have read about Palin, it looks like she holds conservative personal beliefs, but her actions while in power seem to suggest she is interested in combetting corruption and wasteful spending. Politicians who spend their time snooping in our bedrooms usually never have the time to snoop out corruption.

  64. Kittens:

I got attacked for arguing that Obama wasn’t an “outsider”

All I basically said was he might not have been in DC that long, but he came up inside the party system. Stuff straight from his bio

  65. The next 2 weeks are going to be major because absentee ballots will start arriving and more and more people are voting absentee which means they vote well before Nov. 4. Dean wants a big early voting—maybe he should rethink that.

  66. “I’m hearing a lot of buzz about the polls not being accurate because most calls are to land
    lines, not cell phones. ”

Someone at TM made this comment.

Wife and I just got rid of our landlines after moving to our new place….

Are we the only people in the planet not voting for O without land lines?

  67. Dean wants people to vote early, before they see the debates?

    Maybe that tells you something.

  68. Before everything started this year I was hoping to see a Democrat run on a truly liberal platform, but the only ones who came close were Gravel and Kucinich.

The rest (Hillary included) ran on a slightly left-of-center platform.

Damn Edwards and his fake populism.

  69. I have no landline. My son has no landline.

Let them have their little fantasies.

Bush is winning the election for McCain right this minute. Iraq is doing well. We are going to get our troops home.

  70. During the primary, Dean wanted H out of the equation before the O “concept” got too damaged.

He now wants votes before further erosion of the O “phenomenon” happens.

  71. The voter registration has to be scrubbed. He will attempt to cheat.

  72. Riverdaughter,

As always, right on the money. Man, how you can, consistently, hit the nail squarely on the head is truly amazing…

    ==

“Funny how concerned the Obots are about what Hillary stands for.

A few months ago they were violently opposed to everything she stood for.”

    Ditto, myiq2xu,

  73. “The rest (Hillary included) ran on a slightly left-of-center platform.”

Agreed. That is why I have always mantained that H was as right as I could go.

  74. I’ll be surprised if Obama regains momentum. Unless McCain pulls a blunder, it’s gonna be a slow fade for the Unity Pony.

Kinda like the primaries, when he peaked in February and it was pretty much all Hillary after that.

I don’t see Howard, Donna and Nancy being able to rig the Electoral College, so Uh-bama’s on his own.

  75. Upstate:

Hillary was the best candidate running. She wasn’t my ideal candidate.

Of course, my ideal candidate probably doesn’t exist.

  76. I have no landline, neither do either of my over-48 sisters (both voting McCain).

  77. Frank Rich goes down the tubes trying to attack Palin and McCain:

    Link

Problem is, he never mentions how much worse voting for the zero-experience Obama would be.

Here’s what big-city types don’t get about Wal-Mart: There is NOWHERE else to shop in a lot of smaller rural areas, because W-M ran all its competitors out of town 20 years ago. So even if you’re a good liberal, you wind up shopping there because the alternative is driving 80 miles roundtrip to a larger city with a K-Mart or Target to pick up a couple of screws or a 2-liter of Diet Coke.

People get inured to it because “everyone” shops there. So when you live in a small rural community it’s easy to see a slam at Wal-Mart as a slam against everyone you know.

I’m just sayin’. Yes, I realize Wal-Mart is the devil and has a horrible record on everything under the sun. But I spend a lot of time in a very rural community and I’m just tellin’ you how it is.

  78. Ditto on “Dean wants the ballots in BEFORE the debates”. The debates will be a debacle.
Unfortunately, I see no roll for Hillary that speaks to her abilities. If she stays in the senate she will still be the junior senator and I would be very surprised if she’s able to unseat Pelosi as majority leader. People have been throwing around the idea of Hillary as Secy of State. How would that play out for her future presidential campaign? If she’s Obama’s Secy of State and she does a great job but he sucks, can she effectively run in 2012? Maybe, if she stands out on her own. I wish I could hear a scenario where we “get Hillary back.”

  79. myiq, I always had sense enough to know that my “ideal candidate” was unelectable in this country, period.

Which is why I loved Hillary. She had the core Democratic values, but knew where to push, where to back off or compromise, and how to get us there eventually without pissing off half the country.

  80. Obama is making a speech on Education. And so far, it’s been all snark. Also, isn’t that just another opening for McCain to discuss Ayers?

  81. KB, is it on CSpan?

  82. Eleanor:

Lot’s of people love Walmart, because they have better prices than the stores they ran out of business and lots better selection.

BTW – The Sears-Roebuck catalog put lots of small stores out of business too.

  83. He will attempt to cheat

Wow, that’s another horrifying thought. What are we going to do if O’s attempts at ballot box stuffing or similar are really obvious and we all have to rally – to protect the Republicans from vote theft?!

Guess I’d better work harder at internalizing the “country before Party” meme. I really haven’t wanted to believe the worst about my own Party, but it may be time to start thinking about it.

  84. Sarah’s on Fox. She is fabulous. I love her jackets! And she is wearing a ponytail.

    GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  85. myiq2xu,

I don’t see any way that Obama can regain momentum. I guess anything could happen, but with his fundraising slipping and the way he is cratering in the polls, I can’t imagine what it would be. He is his own worst enemy. I’ve seen several headlines this morning about his “mocking tone” toward McCain/Palin–how is that going to help? Calling Palin “mother, governor, moose-shooter” could end up being as bad as the bitter, gun-toting remarks.

To me the most interesting thing in the NYT story on his fund raising was that the majority of maxed out primary contributors have not come through for the general. He’s in real trouble, and no one wants to throw money down a rathole. I remember well how the O-bots were saying that about Hillary after South Carolina.

    How does it feel, Barack?

    To be on your own,
    like a complete unknown,
    Like a Rolling Stone.

Roll on back to the Senate and do your job for once.

  86. Eleanor:

When FDR formed the SEC to regulate Wall Street he put Joe Kennedy in charge, because Joe knew every trick in the book (and invented a few of them)

The GOP knows how to cheat, and they won’t let Obama get away with anything.

They will be watching like hawks

  87. Yeah, I know myiq….but I personally have to really work not to feel squicky about going there because of Wal-Mart’s horrible discrimination and employment practices.

I’m just sayin’ – I personally have historically been a yellow-dog Dem. So if I go to Wal-Mart, in my small town? So does everyone else. And this is not a good line of attack for any politician who wants to pick up rural voters.

  88. There are four debates to come and I think it’s unwise to discount their importance.

  89. Palin is speaking on Fox and CNN right now.

  90. Salon writer Joan Walsh said that Governor Palin looks like a “Walmart woman”!

One of the reasons I liked Elizabeth Edwards so much in 2004 is that she came across as someone who would shop at Walmart and look for bargains — in fact, iirc, she once sid she missed being able to troll for bargains after they got famous.
Elizabeth comes across as a real person and so does Palin.

  91. Palin and McCain look great.

  92. Elixir, it was FOX. But, just as I typed the comment, they SWITCHED from Obama’s Education speech to Palin’s speech.

I wonder who’s the media darling now?

  93. I know it sounds “uppity” of me, but I like Target better.

  94. Heh. On the cheating: I’ve been telling everyone that cheating against McCain is not going to be nearly as simple as stealing an election from the Clintons. Not the least reason is that Republicans don’t give a damn, for the most part, if you call them racists. (I’ve seen them pull shenanigans in my area like putting one voting machine in the 10,000-voter majority black precinct, for example…)

See y’all soon! I have to go on a minor road trip to Charleston and may not get to post much, but I’ll be reading from my IPhone!

  95. Palin has to look at her notes, but she’s doing great. She really knows her stuff about energy policy.

  96. BB:

He outspent Hillary as much as 5:1 in Pennsylvania and lost.

What else can he say that he hasn’t already?

I think Uh-bama is more likely to stumble than McCain, either in the debates, or with one of his skeletons popping out of the closet again

  97. This is one I’ll bookmark as I know we’ll use it often in November. Here are a few more:

Because, let’s face it, you didn’t win the primary either….
All the proportional/affirmative action ways to count your delegates – even before getting to the Michigan gifts were outright stealing. You lost almost every state that matters in GE – that ought to mean something
Because showing contempt to voters (her voters will come to me, mine won’t go to her, too bad, Nevada voters, i got more delegates anyway, so FU”) is not a recipe for success (that would be before “bitter” and “racist” comments)
Because simply pretending we are united while telling us to “get over it” ain’t a vote getter either
Because voting for FISA, promising to stay put in Iraq and not raise taxes on the rich won’t make your base rush to vote
Because promising “faith based” money to the fundies and chopping down Roe vs Wade (feeling blue) won’t bring their votes to you, but will lose you more of that base you should be shoring now
Because more sexism attacks reminding everyone of your piggish behavior in the primaries won’t win you over any women, no matter how many stooges you send to presume to speak for us
Because you couldn’t help being a mean frat bot like W with your 3 AM VP texting business

  98. Todd looks really cute today.

  99. McCain and Palin are in Lebanon, Ohio. There is a large enthusiastic crowd.

  100. Heh. On the cheating: I’ve been telling everyone that cheating against McCain is not going to be nearly as simple as stealing an election from the Clintons. Not the least reason is that Republicans don’t give a damn, for the most part, if you call them r@cists. (I’ve seen them pull shenanigans in my area like putting one voting machine in the 10,000-voter majority black precinct, for example…)

One of the debates is going to be held right down the road from my house. Lucky for me I’ll be out of the country at the time…here’s hoping no zombie Jehovah’s types trample my lawn…

See y’all soon! I have to go on a minor road trip to Charleston and may not get to post much, but I’ll be reading from my IPhone!

  101. Carol,

    Target/Walmart/Kmart – all good shopping. I love a bargain.

  102. Don’t forget the Dollar Store!

  103. Obama doesn’t have anything shiny left to dangle in front of the electorate. Biden was his last blip of the radar and look how that turned out. The dems are in deep doodoo and it’s too late to change things unless…Biden is dumped and Hillary is put on the ticket. That’s the only solution from my perspective and I don’t even want Hillary to take the VP slot.

  104. Ha ha – Fox cut away from Obama’s speech on education to show Sarah’s speech in Ohio. As soon as Sarah was finished introducing McCain, they went to a hurricane update.

    Who’s the media darling now?

  105. McCain:

BO voted for the energy bill with $2.8 billion in corporate welfare for the Oil Companies.

  106. Obama campaign is out of control.

  107. “People get inured to it because “everyone” shops there. So when you live in a small rural community it’s easy to see a slam at Wal-Mart as a slam against everyone you know.

Touch my WMarts and you are toast. Rochester and Syracuse are just too far.

  108. Arabella!! That’s almost exactly what I said at 10:37. !!

  109. Elixir – I said on the day Obama chose Biden that Biden would not be on the final ticket. Reasons:

Obama can not make a decision.
Obama needs to be in the spotlight.
Obama blames others for his failures.

Oh – McCain is back. Says he will work across the aisle.

    Blasting Obama

  110. “Because you have failed to stop your fanbase from proselytizing like zombie Jehovah’s Witnesses on crystal meth, annoying and frightening every voter they meet.”

OMG- just got up; got my coffee; did my first-thing in the morning thing – Read RiverDaughter; didn’t even read comments so I could come here and say “Right On!” (I know – that’s a little outdated, but, hey I’m a boomer.) I am ROTFL over this one above, though! So true, so hysterical the way you put it!

  111. Carol, keep your hands off my General Stores.

  112. Baiscally the Dollar Store/General Dollar/Dollar Tree have become the General Stores in many rural areas. They even carry basic food items.

  113. And here in KC, people keep getting murdered at Target (one massacre of 4 people and one Beautiful-Girl-Abduction-Murder)

So, I’ve gone back to Walmart for my value shopping. Also, I live in a suburb so everything is national chains around here. Not too many locally owned stores.

  114. katiebird – Great minds think alike, they say.

I have been felled by a monster headache and am lying in bed catching up with you all. This job hunt is stressing me out. I don’t know how to pace myself.

I’m cutting myself a break for a few hours.

  115. people murdered at Target? yikes.

  116. Shocker! This thread appeared at DU:

“We gain NOTHING by insulting people: if we want their votes, we have to attract them, not repel them”

Read the comments on the thread and you’ll be unshocked

    ————————-

Good luck in your job hunt. Can I ask what support sites you use to look for employment? I’m an expert in finding jobs in the I.T. field…:)

  118. I’ve never heard of Balloon Juice. Google turned up his Act Blue ‘Balloons for Obama’ page. It has this delightful blurb:
“Give because I said so. If that isn’t good enough, and you are one of those idiot undecideds who can’t figure out why Obama needs to finish off Hillary and then beat McCain, think of something pithy to put here.”

    “Idiot undecideds.” “Finish off Hillary.”

Classic case. 30 years of psychoanalysis for all of them.

  119. Get this now …. “White women have moved from 50-42 percent in Obama’s favor before the conventions to 53-41 percent for McCain now, a 20-point shift,” ABC reports today.

    I TOLD YOU SO……..

  120. No way Obama would have picked someone like Palin. He couldn’t take being upstaged.

McCain doesn’t GAF, when the smoke clears, he’ll be the one sitting in the Oval Office.

  121. THANK you, RD!

Oh that Hampster, he’s at it again:

    “The MSM and the Woman”
    http://www.partizane.com/node/49

And to myiq2xu at 8:17 am: In a word, YES.

    McCain/Palin 2008
    Hillary/Her Choice 2012!

  122. “I say fuck them, no amount of ass kissing is going “win them over” anyway. Most Republicans and undecided voters voting for McCain will be doing so because Obama is African American.”

You were right, myiqu, I got unshocked quite fast (third or fourht comment?)

  123. myiq, not myiqu

  124. katie – I was up there the week before at my neice’s graduation from KU. I think we were in that shopping center.

  125. McCain is sending out absentee ballots also. His campaign called my mom, an Indie voter and when she said she would be voting for McCain/Palin, two days later she got the absentee ballot.

However, she says she wants to stand in line and cast her vote against Obama.

  126. Carol, was it this year? I wish I’d known. I live just a couple of miles away.

  127. destardi – I am open to all suggestions! I need your help;

e-mail me so we can discuss this off line.
    arabella_trefoil@yahoo.com

  128. ugsome:

John Cole was a Bush Republican who changed parties a couple years ago (or was it last year?)

He admits to having CDS, but when I started hanging out there he was just bashing Republicans.

The commentary there is politically incorrect, to say the least. But that wasn’t my issue, it was the sudden hostility and abuse by other commenters, similar to what happened to others at Cheetoville and MyDD

  129. PUMA battle cry! PUMA HAKA! 👿

There is a prowling big cat in this video. Watch out, Obama and DNC, she’ll chew you up.

  130. No, she graduated May 2008. She is from St. Louis but she stayed there and is working.

We had dinner at a really good Mexican Restaurant in a shopping center. I don’t know the name. It might be back actually Kansas City. School is really pretty. I had never been to the campus before.

  131. May 2007

  132. Look at the room where Obama is speaking – it’s half empty!

  133. Because MLK’s dream is still alive… (a person will)
“not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content
    of their character.”

    You lack character, Obama.

  134. Yippeee- I just got a call from the DNC. I gave it to the poor caller. I went through the Pelosi, the primaries , the caucuses, the RBC ‘exit poll’ delegates. I told him I was voting Republican for the first time in my 50 years and that it was all Pelosi’s fault. It felt great!!!

  135. The Obama campaign argued they haven’t stepped up their women’s outreach efforts in light of Palin’s appearance on the GOP ticket.

    That quote says it all.

  136. Not that it would do them any damn good at all.

  137. Hi , I’m new here and was wondering about writing in Hillary, but was worried that it might automatically go to O, so have been trying to find information about state rules on that. Found this site, so guess I’m screwed cause I’m in Ark.

  138. In that picture – the smug look on his face…I saw it over and over again when different asswipes (like Richardson, Edwards, etc.) endorsed him. He was always sitting on a chair with that sickening smug look. The contrast with McCain’s look when Sarah Palin was speaking on national stage for the first time – wow.

  139. Carol, KU is beautiful. I worked there for nearly 10 years and used to walk to work just to be closer to it. At certain times of the day, when the light hits it just right from the west, it just glows.

If you come up for another visit sometime, let me know. Lawrence is just 30 miles from my house. It would be fun to meet.

  140. Ooops! The reporters on the campaign trail with Obama wanted to know his opinion about the troup withdrawl. The reporter read a nonsensical reply from one of Obama’s spokespeople.

In 30 minutes, Obama is supposed to be taking questions from reporters. Should be interesting.

“Look, I’m here today to uh, uh talk about education. I’m not uh uh going to address Iraq ….”

  141. New GALLUP Poll released today:

    September 9, 2008

McCain Now Winning Majority of Independents

Majority of independents now prefer McCain over Obama, 52% to 37%.

    15 points!!

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/110137/McCain-Now-Winning-Majority-Independents.aspx

Also, HUGE crowd in Ohio today for McCain-Palin rally!

    Keep Standing Up America!

    McCain-Palin ‘08
    Hillary ‘12

  142. Off subject, but could someone post again the link where PUMA bracelets are sold? I want to buy a couple to give to my mom and to my aunt. Thanks!

  143. Obama can’t keep his number of states straight, and now is inventing new ones:

He apparently just said that he is “fighting for the people of New Pennsylvania”.

Damn, the people of the regular old Pennsylvania are going to feel so special.

  144. Saw a NYT story last night that the Obama campaign is having trouble raising money. Does anybody have more info about this? The wheels grind slowly–yes?

  145. IronMan – The McCain/Palin rally was huge!

Obama talking about education? Ha. the audience was half empty and Fox cut away from him after a minute or two. They cut Obama’s audio feed then shrunk Obama’s video feed to 1/3 of the screen and went back to McCain’s rally.

I wish I could shrink Obama. Just a tiny little talking head – no sound.

  146. kc – Obama is having BIG problems raising money. He’s even contacting me.

  147. I think as people see these early polls they will realize that they are not alone and you’ll see a surge towards McCain/Palin.

If it hadn’t been for this place, how many of us would have realized we were not alone? How many of us would have fallen in line, thinking that all the rest of Hillary’s supporters were backing Obama?

(Not me, but I’m stubborn and contrary)

  148. Election judges are essential to our democracy. Election judges are officials that staff local polling places, administer election procedures, and ensure that the rights of voters are protected on Election Day.

    –Minnesota Secretary of State
    http://www.sos.state.mn.us/home/index.asp?page=585

While voting in my state’s primary election this morning, I also signed up to serve as an election judge.

Sure, BO *probably* cannot game the general election, but why assume anything this season?

Sign up and ensure that everyone’s voting rights are protected.

  149. MyIQ, Obama would need to do something positive to turn this sort of momentum. Or McCain make some sort of fatal mistake. This is a year of surprises. But, Obama’s timing has been off since February and I think if he had something surprising handy he would have let it slip by now.

I don’t think he’s got anything left. I’m NOT counting my chickens — anything could happen. I’m just thinking outloud.

  150. Scrubbing the registration is soooooooo important!

  151. Katiebird and Arabella–thanks, will check out that link. btw, I’ve been boycotting Walmart for years (and many other places and products-makes me feel so righteous, but hasn’t hurt them). However, I’m not a Walmart shopper and wouldn’t vote for Obama if he was the last person on Earth.

Wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the wall at the BO / Clinton lunch in Harlem on 9/11? If I were Bill I would feed him alittle disinformation.

  152. Why hasn’t the DNC, FEC, and Obama answered the lawsuit filed? Wouldn’t that be a simple task?

  153. Katiebird:

Picking Palin was McCain’s big fatal mistake. Just ask Jeralyn

  154. MyIQ, I just saw your comment at Dr. Violet’s place. I’ve had the same questions about people who claim to be terrified by a McCain presidency. And agree with everything you said there.

I’d like to add that if a McCain presidency is so SCARY then we shouldn’t have nominated someone who is unelectable. We should have taken the “threat” more seriously.

  155. The way they address Clinton voters is so condescending–totally tone deaf. I really think he doesn’t like or respect women. And speaking of sending surrogates out to speak to women–if Michelle is so great, why not send her out? My sister says Michelle reminds her of the tennis sisters-almost Amazon women. OOPs–would that be racist?

  156. Picking Palin was McCain’s big fatal mistake. Just ask Jeralyn

I’ve seen Democrats do this constantly, over the years, and it makes me want to scream. They can never make the shift

They have no clue in a general election. They sit around reinforcing one another, and it never crosses their mind ONCE that they are not the onl people in the country.

So the refrain goes: “She shops at Wal-mart, and none of my friends or I do, so she’s crap. I saw that clip of her praying, and I think it’s weird, therefore it is weird, and America will agree with me. I have taken a good hard look at her, and she is sooooo laughable and terrible, therefore the same thing is patently evident to every voter in this country.”

So they attack in the WRONG areas, in an effort to make fun of the things they find so reprehensible. And are always astounded when it backfires.

Fauxgressives have this problem all the time – they miscalculate because they cannot step outside their own heads and see a candidate the way a majority of the country WILL see them. They cannot do it. They just don’t seem capable of it. Dems lose not because they disagree with Joe Sixpack (which is fine), but because they have a continual failure to comprehend how Joe Sixpack thinks.

  157. washagee,

Welcome to the Confluence. You’re in the right place. Remember, you don’t have to decide what to do about your vote right now. You can always vote for a third party or just leave the top of the ticket blank. I doubt if Obama has much chance to carry Arkansas without Hillary on the ticket. What do you think?

  158. Plural,

We just got an absentee from McCain so it isn’t just the Obama camp.

  159. Obama is reacting to Bush’s announcement that he will withdraw some troops from Iraq. To me he looks really deflated. He’s frowning, he’s speaking with little enthusiasm, and he is going to take only three questions from the press. He is a dead man walking.

  160. Picking Palin was McCain’s big fatal mistake. Just ask Jeralyn

Yeah, she’s going to back out of the VP spot any day now. LOL.

  161. The next 2 weeks are going to be major because absentee ballots will start arriving and more and more people are voting absentee which means they vote well before Nov. 4. Dean wants a big early voting—maybe he should rethink that./

Isn’t early voting where BO excels at cheating? Isn’t that what happened in N Carolina? Where Hill was winning at the count, but there was a large and unusual bulk of early ballots which put Obama over the top…

I don’t believe they’ll waste too much time on voting machines, but that they will rely on early ballots in States with Democratic Governors (not all, but in places like New Jersey and Virginia)

    On Kaine see for example:
    http://tinyurl.com/5kce77
and we all saw what New Jersey’s Gov did in Denver.

  162. Anyone watching Uh-bama’s press conference? He’s scared…. he couldn’t come up with a coherent response when asked about the “Palin Effect”

  163. But Barry has his own scented candle and you don’t.
    Nah
    Nah
    Nah

  164. It’s the White women I tell you. I mean that’s what the MSM keep saying… http://www.partizane.com/node/49

  165. Didn’t Donna B. say that it would be “black women” who decide this election?”

  166. Because your a pompus, unqualified, empty suit, lying hypocrite.

    Thanks, RD, that felt great!

  167. But Barry has his own scented candle and you don’t.

(snark) What scent is that …arugula? 🙂

  168. Thank you Arabella for the play by play. Perfect. Narration. Live theatre.

  169. Until this past March, I have been a registered Independent here in Republican land in Ohio. Though Independent, I have voted the Democratic ticket on every Presidential campaign since Mondale added Geraldine Ferraro on the ticket. In March, I registered as a Democrat for the very first time (as my sister said, “Terry finally got her ass off the fence!”) and was absolutely thrilled to be voting for Hillary Clinton, whom I have admired as a brainy, hard working woman since she became First Lady. I have been angry and horrified as I watched events unfold in the primaries this year. I don’t think I qualify as a PUMA since I have only been a Democrat for six months, but I strongly support your goals. I am praying I get to vote for HRC in 2012.

  170. Because you have failed to stop your fanbase from proselytizing like zombie Jehovah’s Witnesses on crystal meth, annoying and frightening every voter they meet.

    – They do act crazy don’t they? Attack of the O***a voters.

And I agree, they CAN NOT blame Obama’s loss on Hillary.

  171. We’ve all heard that saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”

Have a look at this pic from the McCain-Palin rally in Ohio. People in Ohio get it! I Love it!!

And this just in…in Obama’s “news conference” this morning where he took only 3 or 4 questions, he stated that he does NOT believe that women voters are moving to support the McCain-Palin ticket and totally dismisses the movement of women voters to back McCain-Palin.

“I just think that the notion that people are swinging back and forth in the span of a few weeks, or a few days, this wildly generally isn’t borne out,” Obama said. “These are the same polls that had me 20 down last Summer that have swung wildly throughout this process.”

    HAHAHAHA!!

Hey Obama, you ain’t got a thing, and you ain’t got that swing!!

Do Wop Do Wop Do Wop Do Wop Do WOP
    DOODOO on YOU Obama!

    🙂

    Obama. Does. Not. Get. It.

    Obama. Is. In. Denial.

    NO WAY!
    NO HOW!
    NOBAMA!

    McCain-Palin ’08
    Hillary ’12

  172. If you don’t vote for Obama, I’ll just hold my breath until you do!!!! I mean it!!!

(edited to reflect the maturity level of the commenter)

  173. louise,

I’m out of troll food. Sorry.

But you’re right about Hillary and me. I’m not voting for someone who has insulted her, demeaned her, and would not ever have voted for her JUST because she is a woman.

    *********************************************************************
Wow! Where did all those chickens come from?

  174. louise: “Shame on all youR idiots.”

Oh, louise louise louise. Now, now SWEETIE, that’s not gonna win you any converts…not even PERIODICALLY.

P.S. I don’t have any idiots to shame. Will you lend me one of yours?

  175. creeper @ 2:20: Hi creeper! (hug) Hampy is getting that registration issued fixed over at http://www.partizane.com

So, don’t give up! It might even be fixed by now.

  176. Here’s the good news Dems hate loser think Kerry Dukakis Kennedy’s other two failed boys…now with that said Dean, Clyburn, Pelosi, J Jackson Jr, Brazile, Kennedy, McCaskill have to be held accountable for this damage and all leadership for their complicity in this fraud not just Obama. Without this purge I will never slightly trust this Party my view they stole my time my money by running a shell game not a Primary, if I would have know what I know the theme of Dems ARE Victims yuck…..the affirmative action delegate distribution, whose a SD SD’s in general all that’s got to go.

  177. If you really loved Hillary, you would not vote for someone who has insulted her, demeaned her

That’s exactly right, louise, which is EXACTLY why we will never vote for Obama! Get a clue!

  178. And the whooping good news of this fraud was that Women have found their electoral power while discovering the wedgie ring nose was deeply implanted for control and discarded it with the full knowledge that we are not underpowered victims who will be frightened by hollow threats and that any politician or Party that attempts to fiddle with our right to Privacy, well the phrase cold dead grey hand comes to mind,…..

And the previous women’s movement exposed as a joke a mere elitist extension of a Political Party complicate in the impacts of bad governance on Women’s issues that had resulted in reducing the largest demographic in the electorate to pawns jerked around with grievance, taken for granted, thrown crumbs, dismissed, disrespected, harmed, threatened, and denied a voice but not any more.

Me the baby and the bath water need to go….cut the cords start anew embrace the power of our community of interest…

  179. Seen on the Young Turks web site (went to look at a different post which I could not believe and found this comment):

of course you would say this… (none / 0)
that’s what you said about having obama as the nominee. I don’t have to post a reference, my memory is good enough. You are trying to get more division within the party, yet you don’t realize the Hillary democrats were so turned off by the anti-woman Palin that they went running to Biden. If you haven’t checked, the gallup polls show McCain leading in popular vote, but Obama leading in electoral vote. That’s why our electoral college is set up this way, so if a large population of people divides itself(cough cough appalachians), their vote can be outweighed through “strategery”.

    Comments on the electoral vote?

  180. Fox News:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has accepted an invitation to meet with Archbishop of San Francisco George Niederauer. The archbishop requested the meeting to discuss whether Pelosi, an abortion rights supporter, should take Communion.

I guess that bad Palin and the Roe vs. Wade issue is off the table.

  181. Obama Says at Ohio presser: “I think that has less to do with gender than her ideological predispositions, which are closely aligned with theirs.”

BULL SCHIT accpet repsonsibilty you have failed
    -we don’t need whites
-we don’t need Dems aka white working class
    -we don’t need women
-we just need Indepenndents and corss over republicans (always dumb)

    hahahaha
……………well from a white female, above thirty five, Independent leaned Democratic, Catholic voter in a SWING STATE, just saying WRONG OBAMA you STILL have bad judgment

  182. Do you people not have Goodwill, thrift stores, independent crafts people and artists, tailors, seamstresses, clothing exchanges, farmers markets, garage and yard sales, classifieds for second hand appliances, cars. School swap meets for sports equipment? Etc.

Wal Mart and the like, product made by children in India, or made in China where women are still forced to have abortions, and girls babies starved to death in “orphanages”.

Change your vote, and change your consumerist lifestyle.

  183. Although it’s been said, many times, many ways,

    I love this line too:

Because you have failed to stop your fanbase from proselytizing like zombie Jehovah’s Witnesses on crystal meth, annoying and frightening every voter they meet.

  184. Oh this post just gets more quotable!

    “They are post-rational.”

myiq2xu, I intend to start using this, with proper attribution of course.

  185. Breaking News on Joe Biden

Biden: Palin Would Be ‘Backward Step for Women’

Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) says that if Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) becomes the first female vice president it will be a “backward step for women.”

UPDATE: Republican National Committee spokeswoman Amber Wilkerson has a response:

“The only person taking a step backward is Joe Biden, whose appalling and arrogant statements are better suited for the back rooms of his old boys club. Sarah Palin’s nomination as the Republican vice presidential nominee is an historic opportunity to break the highest glass ceiling. While John McCain and Sarah Palin continue to press their message of change, Joe Biden should stop these sorts of old-style attacks.”

Now that is the way to hit back!!

The Obama-Biden good old boy team is beat!

    McCain-Palin ‘08
    Hillary ‘12

  186. from wsj the write…
Democrats understand Sarah Palin is a formidable political force who has upset the Obama victory plan. The latest Washington Post/ABC Poll shows John McCain taking a 12-point lead over Barack Obama among white women, a reversal of Mr. Obama’s eight-point lead last month.

It’s no surprise, then, that Democrats have airdropped a mini-army of 30 lawyers, investigators and opposition researchers into Anchorage, the state capital Juneau and Mrs. Palin’s hometown of Wasilla

So I ask why bother, Obama slime machine and lies not working this round, oh poor Obama victim of the rich white peoples lost it touch, the press label of divisive candidate code for btch also ineffective media not biting……….ahhhh to bad and you can feel it Obama’s in for his own surprise….step aside Obama Palin is the new best thing

  187. ….The only person taking a step backward is Joe Biden, whose appalling and arrogant statements are better suited for the back rooms of his old boys club. Sarah Palin’s nomination as the Republican vice presidential nominee is an historic opportunity to break the highest glass ceiling. While John McCain and Sarah Palin continue to press their message of change, Joe Biden should stop these sorts of old-style attacks.”

Now that is the way to hit back!!

hmmm good point wouldn’t it have been nice to hear this just once in defense of Hillary…..oh well reap the results DNC this is powerful stuff…

  188. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with your “zombie Jehovah’s Witnesses” comment. Obviously we do not all agree here on matters of religion, or lack thereof, but I thought there was respect for one another’s views in this matter as well as in political matters. I do come from a family where some of us are Witnesses, some are not, but we respect one another and I would not describe any member of my family as a “zombie”. All have considered the matter and have legitimate reasons for believing as they do. That is the kind of bigotry I would have expected from an Obama supporter.

Good luck in achieving your political ends – at least in that matter we agree.

“But Barry has his own scented candle and you don’t.’

Yeah, and it smells like flop sweat.

  190. cal,

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll try it again.

    *********************************************************************
Wow! Where did all those chickens come from?

  191. Okay guys, I REALLY dont’ want to speculate on what Barky’s candle smells like …

    Where’d I leave that brain-scrubber?

  192. Linda, she wasn’t saying Witnesses are zombies. She’s saying that the Obots are like what Witnesses (who proselytize) would be like if they were zombies on meth. So instead of nice church ladies offering you the Watchtower, you get zombie Obots ranting about hope and change.

  193. katiebird–murders at Target? Maybe they should change the logo.

  194. “He will attempt to cheat”
“Wow, that’s another horrifying thought. What are we going to do if O’s attempts at ballot box stuffing or similar are really obvious and we all have to rally – to protect the Republicans from vote theft?!”
    —————————-
edit to read “protect the Americans from vote theft.”
I’ll fight vote theft by any party.

  195. Yes indeed!

It didn’t help when he insulted the baby boomers either!

Honestly….is there anyone he hasn’t insulted? I don’t think so.

  196. The Media and far left Dems made a massive calculation error when they first came out to attack Gov. Palin on that Friday and the weekend before her speech. Here were the three main attacks:

    1. Small town Mayor of only 9k.
    2. Can she be VP with 5 kids and a family?
    3. Her 17 year old daughter is having a baby.

What these attacks did was build a firewall around Palin to protect her from attacks Hillary received when she ran. Since the firewall is around her and the majority of women won’t let the media take cheap shots, there is no where to go for the Dems and the Obamabots.

If they come out with anything, even if it is far it will be blocked by the firewall they helped to create. Sarah Palin has given John McCain a clear path to the White house. The far left Dems are in full meltdown and will try everything to stop the ticket, only wishing they gave Hillary more credibility than just BS and choose her rather than, “The One” for their candidate.

  197. another good one, right on it Rd——–Biden is scarily connected to big pharma –not so good.

$$$$$$$$ and all those “dosed” little egg-souls Yikes.

they are the bad news bears ticket or something ——

very scary research I did today RD. See if Brook knows anything about kids calling themselves EMOS———-? ask your teens? — what it means—–?
    I’m serious——

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-400953/EMO-cult-warning-parents.html

I wonder if pharma is part of this——–?
    Very sad, RD. Very sad.

  198. You insulted Jehovah’s Witnesses.

  199. FANTASTIC POST RD
the blame lies at his feet and upon his shoulders
after all a “leader ” that can say these words even think these thoughts is unworthy to be anything greater than a street cleaner

Bo said today ( ..I am stil shaking … that these words came out of his mouth)

You can put lipstick on a pig it’s stil a pig

every time I think he cannot possibly get any worse he does …

  200. RD – perfect ,except for the insult to the Jehovah’s Witnesses – but then I’ve experienced JWs you’re right.

And you can’t blame them, as madamab said the other day: “you can’t fix stupid”

  201. He got worse. He also compared her to smelly fish.

  202. […] 2008 There’s no one to blame but himself Posted by hillbuzz under Uncategorized   Tuesday: Why Obama’s loss is HIS fault Posted on September 9, 2008 by […]

  204. […] thing.  I came across a great blog today by a member of the wordpress blogosphere.  It explains Why Obama’s Loss is His Fault.  Check it out! Also on a lighter note, check out how Palin Fires up […]

  205. In case you haven’t grasped how the election process works, nobody has lost. There are still several weeks left in the election for you to realize that McCain is going to loose, and that Palin is corrupt:
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/09/AR2008090903044.html

  206. You’re entitled to your own opinions, but almost all your commenters can go straight to hell. Seriously.

“Young, dumb and full of sh*t”? Hope you don’t talk that way to any kids you have who’ll be taking care of you in your old age. Jealous you’re not young anymore?

  207. McCain said the same lipstick-on-a-pig thing about Hillary’s healthcare plan but insisted it had nothing to do with Hillary. Now Obama uses the same phrase but of course HE is guilty.

What was it McCain said about Chelsea Clinton being “so ugly”? What was McCain’s joke? That Janet Reno was Chelsea’s father?

Yeah, women should just flock to a man who makes jokes like that and calls his wife a c**t in front of journalists.

  208. “Tuesday: Why Obama’s loss is HIS fault”

Wow. I didn’t realize we had the election already.

  209. Amen… this is my new favorite blog!!! I am so glad that there are some people out there who still have some common sense. Here’s to fighting back against the Obots!!!

  210. Dear CC,

    1) Do your parents know you’re on the Internet?

    2) Hush. Grown-ups are talking. Go play with your X-box. Or in traffic.

  211. Dear Bell,

When right-wing trolls demanded that we all shut-up and get in line behind Bush after 9/11, we told them to go fuck themselves. Why do you think a left-wing troll like you would be exempt from the same sentiment?

  212. I’m just laughing that we have two trolls who have pointed out that the election hasn’t been held yet. Damn, we bow to your genius. And good for you Marco is avoiding the hard words so you won’t have an embarassing incident like bell’s. McCain is too tight, he’s going to loose. (Don’t worry, though, bell, you may not have mastered spelling, but your political insights are no doubt invaluable nonetheless).

  213. Outsider HA HA HA !!!! you are PATHETIC!! you guys wetting your pants so bad that you’re pretending to be REPUBLICANS??? I ‘ll be sure to save your HILARIOUS comment to trot out on Nov 5th when you guys are wailing and screaming about how unfair life is because Obama got his ASS handed to him by McCain and a WOMAN BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

  214. In case you didn’t notice Outsider, you’re comments are being automatically moderated. You’re in the spam filter, which means nobody can hear you scream (except me). that means that your IP has been identified previously as an Obot. you really are stupid aren’t you? Republicans are evil, but they sure aren’t whiny and petulant…are you one of anti-semite christina’s bots? hers are usually the stupidest….

  215. I can haz chang plez?

  216. blah blah, blah didid blah RACIST!!, blah BLAH BLAH ifffity blah, bitter! blaha blah bla BLPAIITITYY blap blah. Blah.

  217. I’m obsessed with PUMAs. I can’t help myself. I know I should stay true to My Precious, but I feel compelled to come to this blog and drop my troll turds on all the old posts. I’m sorry. I need help.

  218. This is my first time writing on any blog. I am not trolling, I never heard of “PUMA”s before today, and I am honestly trying to understand. What is it that has incited all the hatred toward the Democratic nominee? I’m seeking feedback from other readers of this site. Why would my questions be edited out?

  219. I still haven’t realized that he’s editing my troll droppings….

  220. WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

  221. myiq2xu,

Hi. Glad to see you’re still around. I see another one of us has quit Balloon Juice.
