Ever since McCain announced Sarah Palin as his pick for Vice President, the Obama bloggers have been screeching, tearing their hair, and running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Harry Reid called Palin “shrill.” If thinks her speech was shrill, what would he make of the goings on at The Daily Cheeto, TPM, and MyDD?
Suddenly, the Obamacans are waking up to the stark reality that they have nominated an unelectable candidate. He might have had a chance, but he was either too stupid or too arrogant to nominate Hillary Clinton as his Vice President. With her on the ticket, he probably would have won the election handily; but instead he chose gaffe-o-matic blabbermouth Joe Biden. Biden, who couldn’t even win the primary in his tiny home state of Delaware.
Over at TPM, that guy who kidnapped Josh Marshall writes (under the heading “Primal Scream):
The TPM email bag this morning is chock of emails saying, in so many words, is it time to panic? I’m actually not taking much summary license here. Most of the emails I’m talking about actually ends with some form of that sentence.
Marshall dismisses the latest USA Today/Gallup Poll as an “outlier” (keep telling yourself that, Josh), but he’s still nervous about the Obama campaign’s apparent inability to fight back effectively:
I continue to see a campaign in which the McCain camp has a consistent and aggressive message. They’re constantly on the attack and largely defining the debate. The Obama campaign is largely reactive, parrying the attacks — sometimes rapid response, sometimes slower response, but defined largely by response….what I see is a campaign that is for some reason either unwilling or unable to take the initiative in the national messaging war. It’s all reactive. And, yeah, that worries me.
At the Daily Cheeto, a new purge is taking place. Anyone who doubts the messiah must be ostracized or pushed off the site. These people are no better than pumas, according Al Giordano (“The Field”) gives the many weak kneed Obama-doubters a piece of his mind (I won’t provide a link, but the diary is still on the rec list).
To the Chicken Littles – those attention-seeking armchairmen, wanna-be campaign managers, and increasingly boring sub-group of Johnny-and-Janey-One-Notes that have begun to join the PUMAs in this year’s absurdity index – I’m hereby officially filing for divorce…
No more holding your hands and wiping your tears. From here to November 4, any more response I have to you will be, if at all, to counter and mock you for your sabotage of the best shot to win the White House so far in this century.
You’ve become an embarrassment to our side, the loose lips that sink ships, the willful spreaders of panic and despair, mere props and morale boosters for the real enemies that have been winding you up…
Later on, he really lets them have it–warning that they will be on the outside looking in if they don’t STFU about their doubts and fears.
…at this point, if you’re among those that can’t get your shit together, have no sense of message discipline, or just want your misery to have company, consider yourself quarantined.
You won’t get a word in edgewise on my Internet home, and as a member of this community if I bother with you at all I’ll be mocking and countering your self-indulgent bullshit here as often as I want along with many, many others who, in recent days, seem, like me, ready to part company with, marginalize and isolate the weak links in this chain.
Feel lonely in your panic now? Keep it up. You don’t know yet how much more lonely you could make yourselves still… as lonely as a PUMA.
Oooooh! Al’s a real tough guy!
Al also provides some interesting information for anyone who would like to be clued in to the latest Obama talking points and messages to the media:
The Obama campaign sends out an average of 10 to 20 email attacks and counterattacks a day to every reporter in the country (if you’re not on the Obama campaign “daily reporters” email list, write to Hari Sevugan hsevugan@barackobama.com or Bill Burton bburton@barackobama.com or Tommy Veitor tveitor@barackobama.com or Nick Shapiro nshapiro@barackobama.com and sign yourself up).
Gee Al, don’t you know that loose lips sink ships?
At Open Left, Chris Bowers is worried because Obama is running well behind Congressional Democratic candidates, while past Democratic presidential nominees outperformed downticket candidates. In addition, Obama is performing well below the generic Democratic candidate versus generic Republican.
Sorry, Chris, but we did try to warn you.
Oh, and it looks like Mommy Hillary isn’t going to come to the rescue either. At The New Republic, Howard Wolfson writes that Hillary is not going to attack Sarah Palin, as the Obamabots are screaming for her to do:
It’s not in Hillary Clinton’s interest, and its certainly not in the interest of Barack Obama and the Democratic party.
You may not remember, but Hillary Clinton is at her best staying positive and contrasting with her opponents on issues. She has already been stumping for Senator Obama leading up to the convention and will be stumping for him as much as Senator Obama wants her to between now and the election.
Secondly, and most importantly, Democrats are running against John McCain, not Sarah Palin. Running against Gov. Palin instead of Senator McCain would be a mistake — ultimately voters will make their assessments based on the strength and weaknesses of the top of the tickets. If anything, Democrats should be talking about McCain-Bush, not McCain-Palin. Every day we are focused on Palin is a day we are not amplifying the Obama campaign’s message that Senator McCain simply represents four more years of President Bush.
Pay attention Barack. You are running for *President* against John McCain, not VP against Sarah Palin. I know you just love beating up on women, but your obsession with Palin is starting to make you look pretty ridiculous. Hillary isn’t going to rescue you. You’re going to have to win this one all by yourself. This is what you wanted, remember? You eliminated all the competition from fellow Democrats. But you aren’t going to be able to drive McCain and Palin out of the race. This time you’re actually going to have to win a contested election, and you’ll have to do it without the pumas. Good luck with that.
This is an open thread.

“If Senator John McCain threw a political Hail Mary pass by picking Sarah Palin as his running mate, this much is clear: She caught it and ran,” per The Boston Globe’s Scott Helman.
BB, you have nailed it. Hillary regret must be running rampant through the Obama elite these days. They will most certainly try to activate the 527s and flip floping be dam@#$. Their other major worries have to co with potential October surprises. There is so much ammunition out in cyberspace that the MSM has kept far away from so far. The debates are looming large now. Probably won’t change many minds though.
OMFG!
Just saw on FOX, Obama talking to a crowd said “You know, you can put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig”
This guy is really stupid.
I don’t think they are waiting to see anything they are probably still in shock from the waste at the Dem convention.
Heh, heh.
It’s all so funny but oh, so sad, at the same time.
Coulda, shoulda, woulda – the DNC’s new motto.
OMG he really said that?!?!?
I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am.
“Lipstick on a pig!”
And he loses another 5% in the polls. WTF is he doing?
:-O
His primary $$ was from “REPUBLICANS”!!
They are not “Obamacans”; that was a FAKE to get rid of Hillary. Seems like Obama & Dean are the only two people
that believed it!!
TR, that was a REALLY snotty and stupid thing to say.
Attention Obama: there is no need to rev up your little juvenile army any more than they already are. You are supposed to be appealing to the voters you DON’T have, not reinforcing the nasty superior feelings of the ones you DO.
Jesus Christ on a waffle cone, , even Dukakis wasn’t this clueless.
I just saw that too, Typical. The guy is so clueless. He could have just been VP under Hillary and the Dems would have controlled the presidency for 16 years. But nooooooo. He wanted it now and he didn’t care if he destroyed the party to get it.
Does Obama realize that was an “INSULT” to him from Harriet C. @ the RBC “rip-off”!
I’m still wondering if someone who has SOME sense left in the DNC will “allow” some of that info about Obama, like whether he’s actually able to run for Pres. based on where his actual birth occurred, or his true connections with Acorn and Ayers, to finally come to light, thus forcing him off the ticket so they can replace him with Hillary.
Though they MAY try to get rid of Biden in hopes of having that joint ticket, I do not think Hillary will agree to that. She better not.
WMCB,
Yep, even Dukakis could lose with dignity. Obama is going to the way of McGovern. Heavens, it will take mountains of hard work to build up what he is destroying. My hope is that he won’t destroy the downticket races at this point.
Lipstick on a pig comment:

trist,
At this late date, there’s no way to change. Obama has messed up so badly that even putting Hillary on the ticket won’t be enough imo.
While over at Huffington Post, director Adam MaKay (“Anchorman,” “Talladega Nights”) shares a lament a lot of Obama supporters are feeling these days:
“Stop saying that!” my wife says to me. But this is not a high school football game and I’m not a cheerleader with a bad attitude. This is an election and as things stand now, we’re gonna frickin’ lose this thing. Obama and McCain at best are even in the polls nationally and in a recent Gallup poll McCain is ahead by four points. Something is not right. We have a terrific candidate and a terrific VP candidate. We’re coming off the worst eight years in our country’s history.
Can hardly keep up with all the polls, but here’s another one:

video of lipstick on a pig comment:
It’s also those behind the scene’s who couldn’t wait. I don’t believe for one second that the messiah would be ANYwhere today if not for his backers. Dean, Pelosi, Kerry Kennedy ect…they are the ones who orchestrated this. Obama, for all his nightmarish qualities is after all merely the puppet. And they weren’t gonna wait because part of their ultimate goal was to keep the Clinton’s out. So they HAD to move with him this year.
No matter what it meant doing to the party and this country. Which is why they ALL have to go!
All that money and time wasted in Montana and North Carolina and Georgia. The map keeps getting smaller and smaller. The only thing I regret is that if McCain’s win is SO big we the PUMAs won’t be able to take all the credit for Obama’s loss.
Obama:

Is he bold, or dum?
Ga6th, I’m sure you’re right. But it would still be nice if they tried! I don’t wanna have to wait four MORE years! *sigh*
Today Obama has literally shown the depths of his TRUE Hate, Disrespect and Contempt against woman by calling Governor Palin a “PIG”. Click on link to view article.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13315.html
Lipstick. On. A pig.
You know, when he gave Hillary a street finger, I thought he couldn’t sink any lower. I have never seen or heard of behavior that effing ignorant in a presidential candidate since W. He just keeps outdoing himself, dun he?
Trist,
You’re right, but Obama could have said no to Dean, Kerry, Daschle, Pelosi, et al. He was able to say no to Hillary as VP, and that was his only chance of winning.
Whoa…I really don’t think he was calling Sarah a pig. Actually, I heard that same comment made by a talking head on Fox in the morning yesterday or over the weekend. However, when he said it it didn’t sound as bad as when Obama said it. When the republican talking head on the panel called him sexist for the comment he rebuffed her pretty well. He could to that because her ire was out of context. I think Obama is trying to bait the McCain campaign into reacting to this and get them to start screaming sexism…much like they did to Hillary.
I don’t write Obama off yet. A lot of crazy things can happen between now and November 4.
Constant vigilance.
I never thought of it that way, trist. I actually thought it was the audacity of Barry himself that caused him to run for Pres before he was ready – maybe it really was his stoooopid backers.
Either way, as sm says: “Waaaahhhhhhh!!!! MOOOOOMMY!!! The 18 million people who voted for you don’t like me!! Make them stop!!! Waaaaaah!”
Oooh, I just watched that clip! You know his camp will say it’s just a typical analogy, but you hear the crowd cheering and clapping. They KNEW what he really meant by it! Disgusting!
Ben, I think you’re giving him too much credit.
BB–This is fascinating. So Mr. Control Freak himself is now so desperate that he wants “hit” ads from 527s. Wasn’t it Obama who criticised John Edwards because, during the Iowa primary, a union or an environmental group–someone inocuous, at any rate–ran an ad in support of Edwards? Hubris, thy name is Obama.
Lance,
Why should voters support a party that doesn’t represent them? That’s what’s the party has become. It’s become Obama for America not the Democratic party. Obama doesn’t represent democratic values or issues. Just yesterday he said that he agrees with McCain’s tax plan.
If you watch the clip it is WORSE. That crowd knew exactly what he was saying, as did he.
Ben,
He didn’t call her a pig. He used an old saying. But in light of what Palin said at the convention about the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom (lipstick), people are bound to interpret what the said that way. He can be stupid enough not to realize that. He did it deliberately–just like when he talked about the claws coming out in reference to Hillary.
bostonboomer, this IS the messiah we’re talking about here. The man lives for attention and adoration. Saying “no” wasn’t an option in my opinion. Most likely he would have felt, why the hell did it take them THIS long to hoist me to this higher plain?
I think he truly believe this is his destiny. I’m sure you’ve seen that clip from the other day where he again “accidentally” referred to himself as the Pres.
I don’t mean this as a joke, but I think he has serious mental issues. And I really wish someone would insist on a proper examination to deem him fit to run, before we get to election day. Something is not right with him.
Oh dear.
In the spirit of fairness, it’s a very common turn of phrase, and the word “lipstick” has been in the discourse an inordinate amount lately. He’s shown his usual contempt for his political opponents (especially women) of course. But he actually was talking vaguely about policies (the concept thereof?) not calling someone a pig.
I don’t think the attempt to make McCain/Palin seem exactly like Bush is very compelling, though. If he’d run his own campaign on the issues it would probably work better.
WMCB,
It’s in line with his giving Hillary the finger and brushing her off his shoulders and shoes. He has nothing but contempt for women, especially if they are accomplished and dare to challenge him.
“David Plouffe, the Obama campaign manager, said the majority of the Obama campaign’s donors during the primary had yet to write checks for the general election.”
Those would be the Republicans, I betcha
On another note and it may have already been discussed here, but I was just reading about how Palin is giving it back to Barry regarding earmarks. This story is short but has an interesting ending about how women are reacting to Palin:
http://embeds.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/09/09/palin-attacks-obama-on-earmarks/
trist,
He definitely has psychological issues. Here’s a post I wrote about it.
https://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/2008/07/26/what-is-wrong-with-barack-obama/
dg, we all know that it’s a common phrase. But given the now infamous “lipstick” speech, you can’t tell me he had no idea the connection he was making.
He’s just smug enough to think he can get away with it, with a wide-eyed innocent stare, because he always has. Trust me, it is not going to fly this time.
And apparently if you put a Hope and Change button on a chauvinist pig, he’s still a pig.
Yep, you can tell the way the crowd reacted that they “got it”
I sincerely think Obama did not call Sarah Palin a pig, not even remotely and not even subliminally.
The only thing truly remarkable here is how soon the hardcore strategy Obama and his supporters used since the primaries came back to bite them.
Hillary Clinton couldn’t sneeze without being called a racist;
Hillary Clinton cold say a sentence with the name Kennedy without being accused of plotting Obama’s assassination;
You couldn’t say Obama is arrogant without being accused of calling him “uppity”;
You couldn’t say Obama was being presumptuous, although he was traveling the world asking for privileges reserved only for a POTUS; you were immediately called a racist
Now Obama just used an old popular expression and he’s accused of actually calling Sarah Palin a pig. I wonder if he now knows how his own medicine tastes.
If it was in some way deliberate, Palin has successfully trolled Obama, basically.
You know, I don’t really get that he called “her’ a pig. He was referring to policy I thought.
Disclaimer: Canuck.
Obama collected huge, massive, sums of money from the Obamanation and he has spent it like a druken sailor. I hope he runs out of cash.
“BB”
Your on FIRE tonight!
Spot-on with every entry!
The 16 yrs ABSOLUTELY!
The “brush-off” comment reminded me of something else. When I saw the Ellen / Michelle O dance there was a “shoulder brush” part. It reminded me of Obama’s Hillary shoulder brush; before flipping the bird.
Just-a-Thought!
The Socialists are on the run along with their sycophants in the liberal press. The Clinton’s were right. The ONE is not electable and it will become ever more obvious as time goes by.
The venomous attacks on Palin by the MSM couldn’t have been any better. Their reporting of rumors, and just plain falsehoods have poisoned the well for this election. Any attacks by outside groups, the press, or the Dems not based on solid facts will now be seen as just more character assassination and in poor taste.
At least the fiasco of the MSM claiming to be fair and impartial can be finally put to rest for good. Yup – please move along, there is no journalism here.
tpt/ny–that wasn’t Harriet that yelled that at the RBC meeting it was Mawm 🙂

Just like the crowd “got it” when he flipped the bird.
Of course, Obama will expect Hillary to fund raise to pay off his debt.
bostonboomer, yep I read that. And you did an excellent job on framing those concerns.
It is scary I tell ya. That someone like him is only one days worth of voting away from office!
Sis,
Get a grip. Don’t tell me you actually believe that Obama cares about issues?
“You know, you can put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig” I just saw that clip it stunned me , and the vitriol with which it was stated cannot be conveyed in print … if you get a chance to see the clip of it by al means do so what window into an ineffectual misogynist hatred of women
I am still livid and shaking … but then it occurs to me
.. it was presented as Obama “fighting back” . what does he need as a weapon eyelash curlers ???
There is something about Sarah Palin. Maybe she is on a mission from God or something. But watching her you just sense she will be the next vice president.
I think we should be careful about jumping on the pig comment. I think the worse comment today was from Biden. Frankly, if you just watch Obama now the sparkle in his eye is gone. His followers don’t know what it is like to be behind. From immediately after Iowa they said he had “the wind at his back.” Soon you will start hearing stories about discord in his campaign and fingerpointing.
I guess when things like this come up I start to feel terrible for people who work very hard for him and deserve better from their candidate than.. carelessness, because clearly she got on his nerves & then he came out with the “mother, governor, moose shooter” thing which was not cute IMHO.
I think the reference to fish is no accident either. What a juvenile he is.
My mom said “He can’t be president. He’s got a thin skin. What are the Russians going to think of him? Putin will make him cry.”
Ben, what did Biden say today?
So much for “the healer” claims MSM tried to shove down our throats.
Didn’t Biden say something about how electing Palin will be a set back to women or something like that. I think it was discussed in a previous thread.
Charles,
As a native North Dakotan, I can tell you Obama has very likely lost their 2 electoral votes as well. We should start a pool on which states Obama might actually carry. I’d say IL is sure thing. After that, CT, NY, MA, are still likely, but MA and NY are not set in stone. He won’t carry NH, I guarantee that. Vermont probably. Dukakis took ten states. Will Obama do that well? I’m not so sure. Remember, the Duke carried WV. Obama will never do that.
By the way, re: 527s, IMHO that ship has sailed, for a lot of them. It takes time to raise money to do that stuff, and when the time was there, Obama made sure they couldn’t raise the money. Progressive organizations were ready to go to bat for him and he turned them down.

One thing Biden did today was insult Eagles fans by explaining over and over again why he roots for the Packers, even though he comes from Scranton. How dumb can you get?

That’s how I felt after watch the You Tube of Obama after Clinton trounced him in the last debate. He was vile. It wasn’t just the “brushing off the dirt” and the middle finger, it was the ugly way he talked about Hillary “sticking a knife” in him and twisting it. That image was shocking for me and has stayed with me since.
trist:
serious mental issues..
Agree with ya!!!
I felt that way about him when I read his first book…”dreams from my father”
I readi it sometime in oct 2007 and sinne that day I decided no way him for my choice.
We are done with getting upset and angry for this election.
We can kick back, relax, and enjoy the show.
The GOP doesn’t need our help getting angry. They live for this shit.
It’s kinda like when the drunk who tried to pick a fight with you takes a swing at the bouncers.
You get to watch from the sidelines as he gets his ass kicked.
Like Biden would know. I’m sick of these guys claiming to speak for women. In fact, I’m even sick of Democratic women who claim to speak for Hillary supporters.
Ben, you’re thinking too much. This is politics. We’re pretty good at using stuff like this against dems.
Charles,
I was born in Fargo. Both of my parents were born in ND, my dad in Fargo and my mom in Hope (pop about 300). Both of my grandfathers were born there too.
My mom and dad went to ND Aggie, now ND State, and my dad got his masters degree at the U. of ND in Grand Forks.
I hope Biden comes here to the eastern shore of MD … I have two words for him
PUMA HAKA 👿
ps the population of Alaska is very comparable to that of Delaware …. but of course Sarah is the Governor not ust a senator
myiq, LOL! Yep, he is swinging at the wrong people, now. Mommy Nancy and Daddy Clyburn can’t call up the McCain campaign and lecture them on their “tone”. Poor Bambi is on the playground all alone, and the big girl can kick his MOMMY’S ass as well.
The irony about this particular flip-flop is that Obama’s control freakishness was not, as MoveOn claimed, about his elevation of the discourse (sorry MoveOn), but because he was afraid they would limit his ability to flip-flop.
Remember, the day after MoveOn came out with its anti-drilling ad, Obama reversed himself and said drilling was fine.
So the next two months will be fun, watching the Republicans pointing out that even Obama’s supporters can’t keep up with what he stands for.
You don’t f*** with Eagles fans.
Obama, pre-Iowa, regarding a 527 largely funded by the SEIU and running ads supporting Edwards:
Edwards and ‘special interests’
Ohio has tipped toward McCain in a big way. And like dominoes they will begin to fall…
Other states with small populations:
623,908 Vermont
944,632 Montana
635,867 North dakota
781,919 South dakota
670,053 Alaska
515,004 Wyoming
I wonder if Obama disdains all the politicians from those states too. Oh wait. Both ND senators endorsed Obama. So did Daschle and McGovern from SD. Hmmm….
Arabella, that falls into those mental issues I have with him. Over the course of this campaign, we’ve seen time and again that ANY little annoyance by comments made to him, i.e. questions he’s doesn’t like, or comments about him…questioning his associations or lack of record and qualifications are met with absolute disdain and terrible behavior. Like the pig comment. He can’t handle any bump in the road. If something knocks him off his cool as a cucumber stride you notice it takes him days of hateful sarcasm and obvious annoyance filled retaliation before he can get back on track and refocused.
How does this speak to how well he’d handle REAL crisis’ as Pres? It scares me!
I think a lot of it has to do with his need to try and not come off as angry so he suppresses it as best he can. But you can see it in his eyes when he DOES get angered by something. It’s not healthy, and I don’t think it’s the type of personality we need at the helm.
People talk about Bill Clinton showing his anger at times. But that’s the difference. He feels it, he expresses it, then he gets over it , and didn’t allow it to cloud his judgment. I don’t see that happening with Obama
purplefinn… I am still upset… we have an abuser running as a candidate for POTUS
the only thing that is beginning to calm me down is the knowledge that she must really be getting his goat .. she is getting him where he lives, taking his precious attention and lets face it she is prettier than he is and this is the only way he knows to fight back… HE IS the root of all of the misogyny in his campaign
i might have to go have a sip of wine … and a good cry
DG,
If Biden comes to MA, he’d better not diss the Red Sox or the Patriots. If he does, MA will go for McCain in a landslide.
I suppose Sarah Palin is also “likeable enough?”
What an incredible *ssh0le.
Al Capone was a community organizer in Chicago too
myiq — LOL! You slay me.
Looks like the new Obama-Biden strategy is to throw most of America under the bus and just go for the male chauvenist vote. I think they are succeeding.
9/9/08:
Obama and Biden talking about Sarah Palin today:

Oops, I’m missing the O’Reilly interview! Thanks for reminding me!
bb, remember all the angst about Clinton being a Yankees fan, even though she identified herself as a fan in the 90’s long before she could have ever thought of running for Senate from there?
Granted, I don’t think much of her choice of team as a Chicago kid, 🙂 but she was honest about it the whole time and they acted like she was exposed as the world’s worst liar. I hope Biden gets the same treatment.
Ack! I just missed it! Arrrggggggg!!!!!!!!!!
Jesus was a community organizer, according to an Obama supporter.

Oy.
or was his Primary fundraising result all a mirage orchestrated by the RNC as we suspected? hmmmmm

That is becoming clearer. His continued emphasis on her being a mother. He wants to keep women in narrow categories. He wants to put half the population in a box so that he can narrow his competition. Ain’t happening.
Cry if you must, but don’t waste too many tears on poor, poor Obama.
Well, well …. executive, o.k. but school girl and superhero? I’m tempted to buy it for novelty sake but I’m going to have to shake it off and wait the tasteful bobblehead instead:

I am sooooo glad they turned that into a sorry punchline. I was getting tired of that community line. And I always thought how telling is it that out of his illustrious senate career, both state and national he opts to go way WAY back to his glorious days as a community organizer to site his amazing ability to accomplish anything!
Please Barry don’t be SO modest!
When I was at the grocery today, I noticed that Sarah Palin is beginning to show up on the covers of these typical Good Housekeeping magazines, along with one or more of her children. This is the sort of advertising you simply can’t buy. All the working moms going through the checkout line are going to see Sarah gracing the cover of these magazines that they trust (not to mention all the doctors’ offices and other waiting rooms), and it will be like subliminal programming in November when they fill in the oval for McCain-Palin. No wonder Obama is frantic.
I bet she would beat him in a game of 1-on-1 B-ball.
Of course he would be whining “She fouled me!”
I’m convinced that Obama and his supporters have been clueless from the get go about the lives of working class people. Outside of AA’s, his supporters are rich, arrogant, condescending Democrats (and their young adult children) who act as if they haven’t set foot outside their ivy tower, suburban enclaves for years. The more they trash Palin the more they label themselves elitist snobs with no respect for the middle class and whether that label is accurate or not, it is going to hurt them badly come November.
When Bill Clinton urged voters to support the stronger candidate rather than roll the dice for Obama, he was absolutely right.

And Oprah opted out of this piece of the pie??
Even if independent groups could raise the necessary funds, says Stein, they would be limited in what they could do at this late date in the campaign.
If this is true, what happened to the Republican 527’s? Most people have said that they would wait until post-Convention to unleash. Seems pretty quiet still.
Oh, yeah and did you see those t-shirt the Obama camp is putting out stating that? Ummmm, okay Obama is already fighting “the One” stigma, and the messiah claims. Do they REALLY wanna go there?!?!?!
Gives new meaning to the word “clueless”
I too have noticed that Obama takes every opportunity to bring up “mother of five” constantly when he speaks of Palin.
Um….do McCain and Palin refer to him in EVERY speech as “father of two”? No. He is using a sexist dogwhistle.
madamab, there was a thing on CNN the other day about shirts they’re printing up: “Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor.”
When Bill Clinton urged voters to support the stronger candidate rather than roll the dice for Obama, he was absolutely right.
Isn’t it heartbreaking? We could’ve had it all…
purplefinn–For a businesswoman, Oprah can be pretty stupid at times. Apparently, she lost a lot of her viewing audience when she started actively campaigning for Obama, so she stopped campaigning. Now I understand that a women’s group is asking for a boycott of Oprah for refusing to invite Sarah on to the show.
Salt, I think so. I don’t buy that 2mil supporters tripe either. Most of those 2mill I think are coming from those un-bundled big corporation pac donors. There just aren’t THAT many liberal elites in the world and I know those poor college kids and most average black voters aren’t ponying up like that.

Janis, very true! Boggles the mind how the Dems of all people are hell bent on repeating the same mistake!
Oprah Winfrey SICKENS me. Just about every one of those billion dollars in her coffers started out life in the pocket of a working-class woman. SCREW HER.
As far as so many saying, “just to be fair, 61 was just using an old saying,” that is so wrong. He knew exactly what he was saying as did his jeering crowd. He used his lawyer-speak so he can later deny and cry foul. He repeats his actions, let’s make no mistake. He is a #@%#%^^#^#@%^^!!!!!!!
Please excuse my language….
Claws out! ROAR!

Can you imagine what he would be like in the pressure cooker of the presidency? It wouldn’t be pretty, all that stress. He is simply unqualified for the job, on many levels.
Seriously –
And they wonder why people think Obamans are in a cult????
OMG, Jesus registered voters for the Daly machine… didn’t know.
I’m wait for his one finger face scratch.
I need to remember to get orange yarn this weekend if possible, and make a scarf with little cat paws on it. Should be a fairly simply crocheted pattern. I’ll wear it to the poll on November 4th.
“And Oprah opted out of this piece of the pie??”
I know Oprah doesn’t need the money, but geez for such a smart business woman why would she go out of her way to alienate all those typical white women, you know the ones she built her entire fortune on, when she didn’t have to????

No, he just said “pig” and lipstick” in the same sentence. He merely implied that Palin is a pig. Such a sweetheart. Way to make women want to vote for you!
Did barky really call Palin a “pig” today? Noooo, say it ain’t so.
Well it’s open to interpretation, but I say it’s “so”
You can see the clip here:
Just saw on FOX, Obama talking to a crowd said “You know, you can put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig”
WHAT?!! I was just catching up on the thread, and saw this. WHY is this NOT a HUUUUUUGE gaffe?! That is one of the most offensive things I’ve heard him saying all year–and that is saying a lot. Someone told me it was on ABC News, and they just brushed it of: “Oh, that’s just an old saying.”
HE IS CALLING HER A PIG–HELLO?????
My husband thinks Obama is just a phony.
He can do and say whatever, but it never emanates from any core. The guy is a total cipher.
For those who doubt the “pig” comment. do you think knowing the type of person that he is, or at least who you believe him to be, that he ISN’T the kind of person to make such a comment, or that THIS time he wasn’t being an A-hole?
Just wondering.
Well it’s open to interpretation, but I say it’s “so”
That is NOT open to interpretation. I just watched the clip–he knew exactly what he was saying.
And this, right after he talked about McCain using “Rove” style tactics. I have so had it with this guy. It won’t be soon enough until I never have to look at him again. Seriously.
I am so flipping mad, hearing the talking heads just brush it off!!!!!! Next time he wants to see someone who is racist and sexist, we need to hand him a mirror…..
I don’t accuse him of EVERything. I’ve given him the benefit of the doubt when I thought he deserved it. So I’m not just jumping on ANY opportunity to slam him. But to me, it’s clear what he was saying with this comment.
This year it’s the Democrats’ turn for voter fraud. We’ve already seen it in the primary caucuses and the elections in Indiana and North Carolina. Obama has already demonstrated that he’ll do whatever it takes to get himself elected. This year it’s the Republicans who will need to be on their guard.
Okay, I promise no pontificating (and I do sincerely apologize for getting carried away yesterday), but I just had to share my last 24 hours.
When I went home last night I turned on Gene Burns (liberal talk show host on KGO San Francisco). A PUMA called in and gave Gene the whole line about how HRC was treated during the primaries, she’s a lifelong Democrat voting for McCain, etc. I don’t think she even knew she was a PUMA. After she hung up, Burns was talking with a woman (unidentified) in the studio and said, “She has to be a plant. This is a hoax. People like that do not exist. I never saw any sexism from the Obama campaign or from Barack Obama, did you?” “No, me either!” Then they proceeded to laugh over the woman’s new nickname for Sarah Palin: Caribou Barbie.
Caribou Barbie??!? Are they serious? How can people be this dumb?
2nd story: Today I got an invitation to lunch with Sarah Palin on 9/25 at Tom and Stacey Siebel’s (Siebel Systems) home in Woodside, CA. $1000 for the cheap seats. $10,000 for a photo and a ticket to the 30 minute reception prior to the lunch. $40,800 for a seat at the table with Gov. Palin. This is the hottest ticket in Silicon Valley.
Last month I could have had a seat at the big table with John McCain for $5000!
My husband thinks Obama is just a phony.
He can do and say whatever, but it never emanates from any core. The guy is a total cipher.
Exactly madamab. Cipher is the word I have used too. Hollow. There is no there there–it’s all pretending to be someone, anyone, for everyone.
He probably just thought it was funny when Mawm said it – so he tried it on the stump, I guess.
It WAS funny when Mawm said it!
Caribou Barbie?
That doesn’t even make sense.
Idiots.
fif, in spain they call that kind of person a fantasma, or a ghost.
Sorry, I can’t join the Oprah boycott for not inviting Palin.
I’m already boycotting her for encouraging Hillary to run and all that shit-talk about empowering women, then fawning over Precious, failing to speak out against the racism charges in SC, and just acting like a general all-around a**hole this primary.

I, too, think that it is those behind the scenes that are responsible. This makes me wonder about years past. I remember thinking at the time what truly wrong choices Mondale and Dukakis were – how as public figures they did not AT ALL effectively counter the GOP mystique. Then, when I was in Massachusetts, I was shocked that the party chose John Silber as *Democratic* nominee. ( I don’t know the background story on that.) John Silber was the uber-DINO a Reaganite who opposed abortion rights.
Now the DNC has selected an untested, inexperienced candidate who has at this time mostly surface charm to offer the public. What is going on with the people behind the scene? Are they really that dull-witted? Is Donna Brazile a Republican mole, just like Lucianne Goldberg was at one time?
“The urgent reports, delivered to the White House by special courier, came from a $1,000-a-week spy planted in the McGovern press corps. Nixon, his White House tapes show, referred to her by her code name, “Chapman’s friend.”
But the agent’s real name was Lucianne Cummings Goldberg, now back in the news as the book agent behind the taping of former White House aide Monica S. Lewinsky’s account of her alleged relationship with President Clinton.” http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/stories/goldberg020498.htm

just my two cents: Yes, his “lipstick” comment was an intended jab, as was the “fish” remark. Just think about Governor Palin’s nickname.
I’ve been saying for months that Barky’s like that mirror in the Harry Potter books that’ll show you whatever you want most — the only reason it can do that is because it’s empty. It’s a mirror. It has no content of its own.

I just I hadn’t seen some of my friends, women I once respected and thought so much of, falling for it. I think in my dark moments that it’s because they are on the husband-hunt, and so are in the stages where they try to talk up even the most pathetic attempts to be somewhat civilized as evidence of sheer magnificence. You wouldn’t believe what these women are willing to accept: he made eye contact with me one time, so he OBVIOUSLY respects middle-aged women! He likes Brazilian drum music, so he’s obviously a liberal, so he MUST be feminist!
*unhappy sigh*
I saw one (to be fair, she was a classic Queen Bee long before this) actually believe it when Ann Coulter, of all people, said she’d vote for Hillary Clinton before she’d vote for John McCain. This was someone who would go on and on in her blog about how her fundie parents frustrated her giftedness (and she IS bright) by trying to blockade her from going to night class. She was right — they did, and it was unjust. And evidently, any older woman is now Evil Mommy trying to get in her way.
Okay, I’ll stop whining about this — when it stops hurting. And seeing so many of what I considered smart women fall for this fucking PLAYER hook, line, and sinker just hurts. It makes me wonder where the hell my blind spots are. It makes me wonder if women will ever get ahead if all we have ot be is on the prowl for husbands and we’ll just accept any goddamned pathetic overture as evidence that His Nibs is the second goddamned coming. What a woman will settle for in her bedroom, she’ll settle for in the boardroom, office, classroom, and voting booth. Will it EVER END?
dylane04 – Factcheck.org is a great site. Their organization is one of the few that actually bothers to practice responsible journalism any more.
That’s the plan Trina…..NO OBAMA, and we have no one to blame….how about Nancy, Dean, Donna, and the self annointed on himself for starters?
I’m not taking the blame, Trina. I’m taking the CREDIT. And when the Dems actually start defending Roe instead of letting it teeter because they figure they can use it as a weapon against you, don’t bother to thank us.
Trina, sweetie, you are confused.
If Obama loses, we will PRAISE ourselves.
These people are delusional, Dave. It is mind-boggling.
Look, even if you ARE a sexist pig, at least have the political sense to HIDE it during this election!
For being such a smart guy, Obama sure makes a lot of basic level gaffes, doesn’t he? Sure, I believe it was all an innocent mistake. How could he ever know anyone would associate his statment with his opponent? It’s jus like how his face itched and needed to be scrached with his middle finger at the exact same place in his speech at 3 different venues.
T_i_a, Please read an earlier thread: “Protesting the Election of 2008”.
Srsly, it was one venue, actually — filmed from a few positions.
Even one is one too many.
“If Obama loses, we will PRAISE ourselves.”
On second thought, this is much too hubristic of me.
If Obama loses, he, of course, will deserve much of the credit himself.

Trina, hell, I want CREDIT if Obama loses! I want the DNC to piss themselves in the future if the women of the party so much as lift an eyebrow at them. I want them falling all over themselves to pass pro-woman legislation.
Mawm made the news as a trouble maker at the RBC meeting when he shouted that… One of many great examples of how cool Mawm is!

McCain (R) 58%
Obama (D) 38%
BY 20 POINTS
3 previous SurveyUSA NC tracking polls, McCain had led by 8, 5, and 4 points. Today: 20. McCain has gained ground in every demographic group. Among men, McCain led by 9 last month, 27 today. Among women, Obama led by 2 last month, trails by 12 today.
AMAZING how swift the decline McCain women 54 Obama 42
Trina
Why am I doing this? My answer is threefold.
First ,he took delegates he didn’t win. He cheated and stole. Add insult to injury that all the way up until the roll call he didn’t support democracy. I’m not into banana republics. Second, he couldn’t put his ego aside long enough to admit that he was drug across the finish line and acknowledge the 18 million by picking Hillary Clinton. Third, I am damn tired of the DNC trotting out women’s issues every four years as lip service and doing damage to me and mine on stuff like “partial birth” or confirming someone like Alito, ignoring stuff like the the fact that the SC said BC pills aren’t required to be covered or not addressing a donut hole that caused BC pills prices to increase.
In short, the DNC better quit taking me for granted. I’m not “in the tank” for anyone.
That is still too many points for that dirt bag!
“A Mere Handmaiden to Obama (his favorite kind of woman)”
LOL
The pig comment was deliberate; the fish comment was even worse. I say this because: 1] we saw this same history with Hillary, so he has zero credibility 2] the crowd reaction 3] Obama always goes dirty when upset and 4] this usage is common among pissed-off men.
For a campaign that is super-sensitive about “just words” and has labelled numerous innocuous words “ra*ist, and is proud to the point of arrogance over his speech prowess, Obama can scarcely claim that typically sexist catch phrases are meaningless words.
or you can always use the ever popular….”you can put a tuxedo on a goat, but it’s still a goat.”
I remember Ed Rendell (who I continue to like and forgive for the same reason I like and forgive Hillary) one time going on “Charlie Rose.” He was a great speaker and a great advocate for Hillary … but I remember shaking my head when he said that women would likely vote Democratic in the fall no matter what because of choice.
To be fair, Rose was asking him about how the Dems were worried about disaffected African-American voters, and he related a story about how shocked he was about how ANGRY his wife got when Hillary was raked over the coals for coming within a few dozen degrees of cracking a quarter of a tear in NH. He said he was stunned at how furious she got — and how (even though he felt women would come back in the fall), the Dems have to remember that that sentiment existed on the female side of the line as well.
I wrote to him thanking him for his appearance and for his tireless work in Pennsylvania on her behalf, but telling him that he was WAY off if he thought that women would just line up like good girls, that Hillary in the campaign was a game-changer, and that it wasn’t jsut a matter of shrugging and settling for one pro-choice guy versus another in the primaries.
It’s happening. I’d write back to him gloating, but I liked and continue to like him, so I won’t.
I might wrote to him and tell hmi what sorts of lemonade he can make of the lemons we’re going to hand him in November, though. Just a bit more advice on what to do and how to handle the loss politically …

Wow!
Speaking of fundraisers, I got an invite (I expect the email was sent to everyone in the metro area who donated to Hillary) to a reception for Hillary, hosted by Reid and Pelosi, to help with her campaign debt. I can’t afford to go, but it’s interesting that they’re stepping up, finally – first such invite I’ve seen, and it’s been a while since June.
In other news did you see NY Gov Paterson today.. The McCain-Palin campaign is taking aim at Gov. David Paterson for his suggestion this morning that Republicans are making a “racist appeal” in their denegration of Barack Obama’s days as a community organizer.
I’m baffled – since when did “community organizer” have racial overtones? I had no idea? I figured more that it was a job for idealistic young people not long out of college.
*pinky-lock!*
Oh, and I agree with you on women settling, in every area. I have had a few duds in my life, including a previous marriage. I told current hubby long ago when we were dating – “I walked out on the others, and I will WALK on you if I need to. In a heartbeat. Don’t ever even question that. I am happy as a clam with no one’s company but my own.” He was so inspired he proposed to me (on my 40th birthday). He’s a fabulous partner, and I know a lot of his respect is just because he’s a great guy. But some of it is, I think, because I f*cking demanded it upfront.
Would someone mind fishing my comment just above out of the spam filter? thanks!
“You’re too sensitive,” was always what was lobeed at me whenever I called it like I saw it. NO MORE.
Janis- I love what you write, sometimes I buy into the belief that I am old and bitter, but not for long. Maybe, Obama’s zombies as civil servants will be better in the FDA than McCain’s. But then I shake myself, we are lucky that we have this site and other sites to learn the truth. A really dangerous thing was done during the primaries and we have the power to lessen the damage. Unfortunately, we can not eliminate the damage, but we will make the world a better place EVENTUALLY if we stop Obama now. Many voters only listen to MSM and get a really distorted view of the world, in their upside down world, we are the uninformed!! We must stay strong. PUMAmerica.
Remember how you could enter a contest to have dinner with Hillary?
Where can I enter a contest to have dinner with Janis and WMCB?

I just posted that Obama didn’t call Palin a “pig” because “lipstick on a pig” was a commonly used expression. However, I found that he was being fed his own medicine since ay criticism leveled at Obama was denounced as “racist” by his supporters.
I was about to feel sorry for him when I came across tis:
Has there ever been a campaign this destructive?
Honora, what everyone else writes is what keeps me going. I was bereft at the idea that so many women WOULD go back like good little sheep to the slaughter, like caged tigers that pace back and forth between bars that aren’t there.
It heartens me to see that we’re not going to. I can’t believe I’ll actually be HAPPY to see a Republican in office for the first time in my life. I think the rest of the world will be less than pleased, but they’ll manage. This is a struggle for the soul of the country; we have to clean THIS place up before we can clean up anywhere else.
What was the fish comment?
What I find weird and distressing is that I have to venture into winger world to get news and commentary that isn’t stained with kool-aid.
I’ve been a blogfiend for years and rarely ever went to that side of the sphere until now
Janis, in that same interview he told Charlie Rose about the sexism used against Clinton. Charlie didn’t get it. So Ed explained it in part using the story about his wife’s reaction. Charlie still didn’t get it. I emailed Charlie twice in regard to doing a program on sexism in political campaigns. Never heard from Charlie. Have no reason to forgive him. He was in the tank for Obama from very early in the primary.
Magdalena, we need a PUMA conference when this is all over.
madamab: I only wish I didn’t understand Obama.
What troubles me is that understand him way too well.
I can’t remember if there was any video, put here’s the post of mawm’s lipstick on a pig moment 🙂
https://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/2008/05/31/some-protestrally-photos/
Magda – Me too.
It sucks to be Cassandra, but she was right.
What I cannot comprehend is that they are completely blind to the sexism. They think they can attack a career woman for being a bad mother, call her a pig, circulate photoshopped pictures of her in a bikini holding a rifle, get away with bald-faced lies of all sorts, send 30 lawyers to Alaska to dig up dirt etc. and they don’t see it as sexist at all!
That, to me, is the pure GENIUS of McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin. The hypocrisy is there for all to see. Obama is having the classic reaction of a narcissist who is not getting his way–a tantrum worthy of a 2 year-old. He’s in complete meltdown! “How dare you not acknowledge my superiority to that trailer trash hick from *Alaska*?” McCain looks fifteen years younger.
We’ve got exactly eight weeks until the election and the debates to go. The Republicans haven’t yet used their nuclear weapons (Ayres, Wright, etc.). With luck, they won’t need them but some 527 will probably do it anyway.
It’s too early to gloat. I still believe this is going to be a close election and we are witnessing a post-convention bounce. But I’ve never seen anything like this before.
Seriously:
ABC’s Jake Tapper quotes Obama: “You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, it’s still gonna stink after eight years.”
WMCB, I LOVE this part:
“I told current hubby long ago when we were dating – “I walked out on the others, and I will WALK on you if I need to. In a heartbeat. Don’t ever even question that. I am happy as a clam with no one’s company but my own.” He was so inspired he proposed to me (on my 40th birthday). He’s a fabulous partner, and I know a lot of his respect is just because he’s a great guy. But some of it is, I think, because I f*cking demanded it upfront.”
The take home message for us is the last bit: “because I f*cking demaned it upfront” – exactly what we need to be doing to the DNC and any of the other Democrat groups in charge of creating and putting into action the platforms that we want.
Hi folks, just got in, read the posts but not the comments and I have to say…

now Wash Obama is tanking down 6
and McCain Palin up 6 ……..

Umm, that’s not part of the PUMA plan.
CBS News poll:
Among voters who were uncommitted in August, 20 percent have moved to McCain, 14 percent are now with Obama, and 64 percent are still undecided.
Also finds that 81 percent of respondents think the veep selection is influential, while only 38 percent felt that way in August
WOW really bad news for Obama……..of course they would
I suppose many of us are not surprised once the republican money left Obama that he would be in the poor house.
The worse thing one can do in politics is to believe your own BS.
Obama has run an absolutely dismal campaign.
We want competent women on the Palin/Clinton coattails, not morons!

I so agree, Janis. Lately, I’ve been feeling this is so much bigger than a Presidential election. It’s almost as if everything is incredibly magnified for all to see. When have we ever seen people act this way? It feels as if something greater is on the line. Every extreme is being played out. The world is watching, indeed.
salt, you’re not kidding, hagan had pulled to within 3 points of Dole, now she’s back down 8. Obama’s coattails are POISON……Dems are so screwed….

No but the reality is that Obama and the Dem attacks have crossed the line and are increasingly revolting, I look at many Dem spokesperson now and hear them spew bot bites and say hmmm Dem’s you have become what you hated vicious and weak …………….
and where is Schumer in all this one wonders
OMG, even bev perdue is down 8 points!!! she was winning. Obama is going to turn NC more red than its been since reagan…. I hate that fucker….
It pisses me off, gary and regency, because one of the things we TRIED to warn about was Obama being downticket poison. We were yelling it to the high heavens, months ago.
The pig comment was deliberate; the fish comment was even worse. I say this because: 1] we saw this same history with Hillary, so he has zero credibility 2] the crowd reaction 3] Obama always goes dirty when upset and 4] this usage is common among pissed-off men.
POF: exactly. Huckabee just gave him the benefit of a doubt on Fox, and Wolfson said it was “ridiculous” to make that connection. “I have a pretty good radar for sexism, and that was not intentional.”
I can’t believe this is even being discussed. OF COURSE it was intentional! We have seen him use these exact same tactics for months–suddenly, it’s a coincidence? Her biggest line in the speech just happens to be referenced in his campaign stop today? I am so tired of everyone WORM-ing for him. He looks like a fool.
And then I saw the fish comment. If that is a smear against McCain, this guy is even more unfit for office than I ever thought, and that is an extreme statement considering how I feel about him. He will stoop to anything. The good news is: he looks really desperate and petty.
NEW THREAD UP
although NC already had 2 repub senators, our gov and lt gov were dems. we’re going to lose both of those now….
On reading the article about the “lipstick on a pig” remark, I thought it sounded ambiguous. But seeing the video changed my impression. Just as he Obama was saying that line, he rubbed his forehead, kind of shielding his eyes, and paused. Remember when he showed his middle finger, he looked down, averting his eyes, and paused, too?
bostonboomer, would you call that passive-agressive?
OMG, even bev perdue is down 8 points!!!
That’s really sad. I don’t want his poison to effect good Dems. Unfortunately, the leadership signed on with this sinking ship, and it is going to have quite a wake.
So Obama basically called McCain an old fish, after he called Palin a pig?
Hillary supporters know of the blatant sexism during her run, but I hear these idiots on TV say they are not aware or refuse to believe Hillary was treated badly. I guess the Clinton Hate gets in their way. They see it with Sarah and I am happy this is being addressed, but I want an acknowledgment of what Hillary went thru. How she was held to a different set of standards and the abuse and disrespect she was subjected to, not only from the media and Obama supporters but from Obama himself. The finger, the brushing of the shoulder, on and on. I just saw Howard Wolfson say on Hannity-NO SEXISM CAME FROM OBAMA, only from the media. WTF? Does anyone have a link to contact Wolfson? I’d like to drop him a line. I know he has to shill for The One now, but come on, he doesn’t have to say Obama DIDN’T engage in it.
“GARY”
I’m SORRY if I offended you!
I thought I remembered Harriet played on FOX NEWS while
being exited from the meeting saying that. I stand corrected; “MY BAD”!
The “point is” Obama took an “INSULT” by someone directed @ him & used it against McCain/Palin. That’s…..COMPLETELY…NOT…PRESIDENTIAL!!!!
The lipstick on a pig comment tells me that Obama is very angry about Palin slicing him up at the RNC.
That comment was obviously in reference Palin’s lipstick line at the RNC.
ABC’s Jake Tapper quotes Obama: “You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, it’s still gonna stink after eight years.”
Obama should get a job writing fortune cookie fortunes. That’s profound. I can see how he can slide out of that one, but honestly, if another candidate makes a joke about herself, lipstick and an animal that’s watched by tens of millions of people and widely written about in the press, and you also decide to immediately reference lipstick an and animal, without so much as considering that many people will remember and assume you’re referring to her? You are not ready for primetime.
tpt/ny–oh NOO I wasn’t offended, it just brought back memories 🙂 even t hough that was a horrible thing to watch, it also was the birth of all this…so I do remember fondly driving home that next day and seeing all of the papers with noting the comment. I’m sorry…
Speaking of Lipstick. I just bought “Debate,” the Hillary Lipstick. Because I am sentimental and silly and Hillary really did look magnificent.
OT, but did anyone else watch “Fringe?” It wasn’t bad.
Oh.

help me out here….what did Mawm say (i can’t find it in the thread)
bb, I recorded it, is it worth watching?
infotainment
Gary,
I thought it was interesting. It was the pilot, so we’ll see. I thought I’d give it a chance.
Huckabee has to be kidding himself to say that he gives bo the benefit of the doubt ; or he deliberately is not wanting to comment ..most disingenuous of him ..
the lipstick comment and the fish comment ( Sarah Barracuda) are absolutely deliberate and intentional…. and knowing his personality disorder to be narcissism .. I have to steel myself for the future abuse from him….because given what Sarah is about to do to him .. he will only get worse
..perhaps his full clinical pathology will surface for all to see and he will end up in a nice quiet room where he belongs…. away from where he can hurt people …
If we lose the house & senate as well as the presidency in November, I will cry and cry and cry. And it will be Obama’s fault (and others, of course, too). I cannot believe this is happening this year!!
Personally, I don’t think Obama was referring to Palin when he made his ‘lipstick on a pig’ remark. Now the idiots in the audience may have thought so because he made so many derogatory remarks about Hillary that it’s clearly in his character. But what I find terrific is seeing Obama gets slammed for making a smear that he didn’t make. Paybacks a bitch.
POE — It’s always that way, isn’t it?
This is just ridiculous and it gets worse every day.
“…I think the Republican party is too smart to call Barack Obama ‘black’ in a sense that it would be a negative. But you can take something about his life – which I noticed they did at the Republican convention — a ‘community organizer.’
As opposed to, say, a moose hunter or a hick mayor or a barnyard animal.
We want competent women on the Palin/Clinton coattails, not morons!
Nope, I want any and all women. Men can rise pretty high and be complete jackasses. Why can’t a woman schlemiel get ahead just as easily as a male schlemiel, to quote Bella Abzug?

I think the “fish smell” comment was grossly aimed at Palin.
I totally agree about Palin and the fish comment. I hate my party more and more everyday. I only stay in order to perform the exorcism. 😈
CHRIST in a BOXCAR. Washington’s down 6 for Precious?!
(faints)
WOW. This is happening earlier than expected.
OTOH, you people are killing me:
Al Capone was a community organizer in Chicago too
or you can always use the ever popular….”you can put a tuxedo on a goat, but it’s still a goat.”
I bet she would beat him in a game of 1-on-1 B-ball.
Caribou Barbie
Hee hee hee! Snark with a side helping of hilarity. You gotta love it.
Anybody got poll numbers for Ed O’Reilly? I’m thinking of sending him some $$. My own Dem Senate candidate is an Obama-suckling moron.

this was the Dems year…
“Lipstick on a pig” would not have mattered a month ago. It was absolutely a reference to Palin’s hockey mom joke. It is disgusting and for any other candidate would be political suicide. I hope it is the straw that breaks his unity pony’s back. I couldn’t watch the video because O causes the same horrible, physical reaction to me as Bush Jr – my right hand shoots to my forehead to cover my eyes, while my face scrunches up like I have the worst headache of my life and then desperately searches for the remote to change the channel to anything else – but, if he said the words “old” fish and eight years in the same sentence, then he is referring to McCain being old and being Bush III. Crass. A new low if that’s possible.
To put it simply….Obama has NO CLASS!
(Besides being a sicko when it comes to women….)
This is really disturbing. Lipstick on on pig????? WTF?
He’s imploding.
Obama campaign’s new philosophy: if you can’t stand the heat …then by all means turn up the thermostat. Its makes no sense.
Got a call from MOVE ON tonight. They’ve dedicated all their resources to Obama, and they were calling me to see if I’d volunteer for him.
I said I’d throw my efforts into electing Udall for Senate, but I would not work for the Obama campaign.
The woman sounded understanding; she also sounded older.
I wonder whether she’s heard that response once or twice….
I don’t think he was calling Plain a pig but it is good way to make him taste his own medicine for the vile things his campaign/DailyKooks/Olby etc. dished out at Hillary. Just last week they were saying Community Organizer jab at him was a racist statement – well Lipstick on a Pig then qualifies for chauvinistic statement. It is sad though that both campaigns are slowly getting away from dealing with policy differences. I have put a moratorium on myself not to post/read anymore on any site for one week. Hope things will improve by then. By the way I have told my wife about this site – so hope she will see what the other side is saying.
[…] Another Flip Flop from Struggling Obama Campaign Yesterday, the New York Times reported that the Obama Campaign is not meeting its fundraising goals for […]
How on Earth is Obama’s campaign struggling? McCain finally gets a small lead for the first time and now Obama is struggling? Look at what McCain had to do to get noticed..find a nobody she puppet so he can one up the minority factor with Obama. I find all this “girl power” woman talk hysterical because just because Palin is a woman does not mean she is in our corner. She is a right winged conservative and believes in praying for piplines for Alaska , the “end times” and Creationism. Don’t be fooled into believing the hype.. the only reason Ms. Palin is around is to make McCain look interesting to the dim witted few who needs to see a christian in the white house. They knew the country would go nuts for her “story”, they also know that people are so easy distracted by po dunk feel good folksy crap like this , that it will give Old Man McCain some votes. The whole world is laughing at us. This is sad that the presidency has come to this. The republicans are SO desperate!
Isabella, do you understand irony? You nominate a moron who has nothing to offer but skill at reading lines off a teleprompter, the Republicans, being better at this political game and with no substance to counter them, come back with someone better on that score, and THEN you start whining about “podunk feel good folksy crap,” “dimwitted few,” and “nobody puppets”? Oh wait, I’m sorry, nobody she puppets, good thing you distinguished, we have the magic penis on our side. Boo hoo. The moral of our little tale is don’t try to outrove Rove. They own their turf and if you choose to play on it, who’s going to win? Right. We can only win by having substance to counter their ability to create narrative, not by trying t beat them at their own game.
