NO WE WON’T: Michele Thomas and John Siegel

ACK!  I was so busy cleaning my fridge I forgot to post this.  Please join Sheri Tag tonight on NO WE WON’T as she discusses the delegate fiasco with Michele Thomas of 300 Delegates and John Siegel (the cowboy hat guy in the Audacity of Democracy trailer).  That’s tonight at 8:00PM EST (that’s like, NOW!!!) on PUR (PUMA United Radio).

  1. VMA awards are on and the opening act just went totally off the rails trashing the Palins and saying that if we don’t vote for Obama we’re racists. How does this help anyone?

  2. Pathetic.

  3. Katiebird, are you serious??? What idiot went there?

  4. Some comic called Russell Brand. It was horrible. He went on to make jokes that I actually can’t type.

  5. these are the people that naral and emily’s list are going to raise 30 million for?

Asked on Sunday whether the “above my pay grade” answer was too flip, Obama said: “Probably. …What I intended to say is that, as a Christian, I have a lot of humility about understanding when does the soul enter into … It’s a pretty tough question.

“I’m prepared as a matter of faith to accept that life begins at the moment of conception. But that is my judgment,” Biden said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.

  6. If Biden believes that, how can he be pro-choice? Sustainable life begins at 20 weeks.

  7. My opinion is meaningless but I think life begins when the mom thinks it does.

  8. What are the VMA Awards? Sorry to be so out of it.

  9. I’m watching the John McCain story on Fox. Little Barry has no idea what he is up against.

  10. Brand is the host, not the opening act.

  11. Video Music Awards. Britney just one her first one. She looks healthy and happy. For whatever THAT’s worth.

  12. Wasn’t the whole primary process about purging the Clintons and their supporters from the Democratic Party?

First Hillary has to come back a defend Obama against Sarah-cuda and now this:

Bill and Barack Reserve Table for Two

  13. what does a “soul” have anything to do with it???? that is the same kind of evangelical bs the right has been talking for years.

  14. What is VMA?

BTW, below, articles grouped together, with completely different headlines. While I haven’t read them yet, just found it interesting how different the headline is, the text inside is probably similar.

NY Post: Hillary plays a ‘Dem’ fatale: Will stump in Fla. to parry Palin appeal

AP/Dobnik: Clinton stumps, parades, says nothing about Palin

Althouse: Will Mrs. Clinton fight Ms. Palin to help her former rival, Mr. Obama?

  15. masslib, I turned it on a little late. I didn’t know.

  16. http://www.pollingreport.com/wh08gen.htm

    USA Today/Gallup 9/5-7 Mcain 54% Obama 44 %

  17. RW, VMA= Video Music Awards

  18. gary, so funny. That was exactly my thought when i heard about Emily’s List and Naral. Like, come on, spend the 30 million on the issues, not these sell-out pols.

  19. Hey, Ms. Althouse, that’s Senator Clinton and Governor Palin to you.

  20. Russell Brand is a musician, I think. He should stick to that.

  21. Joan, I thought he was a british comedian.

  22. Entertainment Weekly calls him “Britan’s comic bad boy”

  23. I was watching the history channel historic ships.
The first was the USS Constitution and how every years cpo’s are picked to sail her into the harbor.
The second was the new ship USS New York and her building and purpose. Her hull has steel from the twin towers build into it.
My heart was breaking as I watched .
How could the demcratic party promote a racist anti-american – know nothing for president of this great country.
Everything I ever belived in about the democratic party was made invalid in this election cycle.
They brought out the worst instead of the best.
They divided the party and damaged racial relations.
I do not know if I can ever forgive, I know I will never forget.

    COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS

    PUMAS,BUBBAS, AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE

  24. (blushing) Charles, I’m compelled to cite my sources. And mister and I were so outraged when we saw that skit we dug up the magazine where we’d read about him. So I’ve got it right here.

  25. Watching McCain’s life story on CNN – very interesting. He reminds me a bit of my husband, who was also a Navy Commander, whose dad was a Naval officer as well, and who is a big misbehaving misanthrope. But he is a good man.

  26. This is the highlight from that above poll:

In the new poll, taken Friday through Sunday, McCain leads Obama by 54%-44% among those seen as most likely to vote. The survey of 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, has a margin of error of +/— 3 points for both samples.

  27. are you kidding about those Gallup numbers?!

Peyton just got sacked only 2 yards shy of Colts’ own end zone. heh.

Chicago got a safety on the next play! Go Bears!

  28. Did you guys hear that Obama told Stephanopoulos that he could beat Palin at some basketball game called “HORSE?”

“You know, I would play her a game of horse,” Obama said (on ABC’s “This Week” when asked by George Stephanopoulos if he’d go one-on-one with Sarah Palin. “She looks like she’s got some game. She plays high — you know, I know she’s a sharpshooter. … I probably wouldn’t do target practice with her. I think she’d be a better shot than me. But on the basketball court (left during the primary campaign), I think I’d stand up pretty well.”

  29. An article in my local paper (Scranton, Pa, which Biden likes to acknowledge as his “home,” and which Hillary “owns”), stated today that Obama is in difficulty capturing the “Hillary vote.” The article continued to say that if Obama loses PA, he is FINISHED! Let’s get some help in here to see that he loses this state. I would be so proud to know that my state, for all its “working class” people who “cling to guns and religion” had enough class to recognize an arrogant, obnoxious, underqualified egotist and had the guts to say “NO DEAL!”

I am leaving this Democratic “PARTY” in November, if Obama wins. Although it was my party long before it was his (I have been a Democrat for 35 years), I don’t want any part of it if he is in the lead. So, it really is a matter of taking back “Our Party,” which has never really been owned by Obama, Pelosi, Dean, and Donna B. After we get rid of Obama, we need to get rid of the others as well. Maybe then the “Party” will belong to the people, once again. I think “WE” are worth saving.

    Thanks for listening.

  30. Isn’t it a little wierd that the guy on the top of one ticket is constantly obsessed with the VP candidate on the other side? Shouldn’t he be dealing with McCain?

  31. Not the first time I’ve been wrong and not the last. Apologies for erroneous info. : )

  32. Oh oooh!!!

I know it’s from Drudge but it wouldn’t be surprising:
MSNBC drops Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews from anchor chair… David Gregory will anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night….
I think the NBC honchos are realizing that the way things are going, MessNBC would have to shut down should McCain win, and his odds have considerably improved.

  33. BB: I come closer to voting for McCain/Palin with every hour.

(I’m uncomitted — can’t a girl talk without being accused of being a secret Republican?)

  34. HOLY SHIT – someone just said on another blog that MSNBC is dropping Tweety and Doberman from their election anchor spots. Gregory will cover debates and election night.

    Is this true?

  35. I think Sarah would kick his ass. The basketball metaphor is getting a bit tired.

  36. BB-She would own him on the court! I’d love to see that.

  37. My opinion is meaningless but I think life begins when the mom thinks it does.

It sure as hell ends when she seems to think it should, or it can seem that way sometimes. 🙂

  38. I found this little piece on NOT YOUR SWEETIE – Though Gov. Palin originally supported the earmark spending on the Ketchikan bridge (“to nowhere), she eventually killed the project, chosing to spend Federal money on other infrasturcture programs.

However, Sen. Biden and Sen. Obama voted for funding the Bridge, even when given a second chance by Sen. Tom Coburn, who proposed shifting earmark funds to Katrina relief.

Sen. McCain did not vote on the Coburn Amendment, though he is on record as opposing the Ketchikan bridge earmark.

NOBAMA, here to help, here to save, and here until we flush him down and out…. (claws out!) : )

  39. Very intuitive MaBlue.

  40. KB,

I feel the same way. I’m going to wait until I walk into the voting booth to make up my mind. Obama had better hope I don’t go in there angry.

  41. Well, they do call themselves cable news and those jerks sure aren’t newsmen. Isn’t the election stuff done in conjunction with NBC News? They have got to be embarassed with those two and have been getting lots of complaints at their unprofessionalism.

  42. You guys,

Watch that video I linked to if you can stand it. It’s Obama at his most arrogant and condescending. He is slime.

  43. This was sent to me this afternoon and I thought I’d share it you you all. The flags mentioned are the ones rescued from the trash up in Denver.

Here’s an e-mail re: yesterday’s McCain-Palin rally in Colorado Springs:

Obama’s media reports: “more than 10,000 saw McCain and Palin….. but that is to be expected because it is Colorado Springs.”

    The truth—

    1) I haven’t seen a reliable number but

    2) Cars were backed up for miles

    3) The line to get in was about a mile long 3 abreast when the hanger was already full and stretched in a 20 yard semi circle outside the hanger door.

    4) 12,000 flags were handed out and not more than 1 out of 3 or 1 out of 4 people received one.

    5) At least 15,000 tickets were handed out per McCain HQ and many were noted to admit 2

    6) Children on 16 were not issued tickets and many children were there.

    7) At the end they passed anyone through the magnetometer

I had a high bleacher seat and could see 3/4 of the crowd. I tried to picture them in seats in a stadium and concluded that there had to be at least 30,000 and could be as many as 50,000.

Many came from Fort Collins or Lamar 100 to 150 miles away. Many came from Denver 90 miles away. It would have been more correct to say it is to be expected because it is McCain and Palin.

If they had a bigger venue they could have issued tickets for another 50,000… They stopped issuing tickets not previously reserved mid week.

Just one more incident of a media denial.

Read this just now and want to share it with you:

  44. MABlue,

Will Olberman post an outraged diary about it at the Cheeto? I sure hope this is true.

  45. Maybe NBC finally realized the degree to which Olbermann and Matthews have made that channel a complete laughingstock & nobody considers any of them objective journalists.

  46. Someone says that between the poll and the potential Doberman news, the bots are going completely off their trolleys on the BO blogs.

I never go there, so I dunno.

  47. I just watched your video, BB. He is a snide sneering (whatever) Do these sorts of interviews do him any good?

When is he going to start reaching out to actual voters?

  48. do you t hink they know something? first Sally Quinn walks it back, now msnbc. His media palz are about to throw HIM under the bus bwahahahaha!!!!!!!

  49. What a time, trying to read the posts at Charles place while keeping up with the conversation (and links) here. AND watch TV!!

  50. They had that photo of the Colorado rally on the front of the NYT. I looked at it in the airport today and thought, “boy, Barry’s in trouble.”

  51. (still thinking about BB’s video link)

HAS a politician ever talked about his opponents the way Obama does his?

Remember, he’s never really had to run against anyone before. Maybe he thinks it’s acceptable? But, it’s not, is it? Can’t people — regular/non-obsessed people — hear the condescension in his tone?

And the genial laughter of him and his buddy Stephanopolis?

  52. Hillary is due in Florida on Monday. Said she was campaigning for Obama on the issues, not Sarah Palin. Another article tonight that President Clinton and Obama is going to meet on Monday. At this point in the campaign, I don’t think that Bill and Hillary together are going to be able to pull his chectnuts out of the fire. Every bit of damage that has been done to his campaign has been self inflicted.

  53. USA Today/Gallup 9/5-7 Mcain 54% Obama 44 %

Is that for real? And that doesn’t even include the post Convention bump they are talking about for tomorrow through Wed.? Or does it?

    Yowza. Bambi must be sweating.

  54. momma always told me….stupid is as stupid does!!!

(edited to better reflect the author’s cognitive ability)

  55. BB:

I’m pretty sure KO will. Anyways, he posted on Friday that he will be saying something about the RNC playing a 9/11 tribute.

I can’t believe MSNBC will let their top guy wallow in that louse infestation that is the Dailykooks, although MSNBC.com is one of the most popular political web site in the country.

  56. check out the Drudge Report – MSNBC drops Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews from anchor chair… David Gregory will anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night…. Developing… let’s all pray it is the true deal….. Claws Out!

  57. I trust no one. I think Barry just learned that Sarah is now “the next best thing.” We should start a Joe Biden “under the bus” watch.

  58. Charles,

I read your post. It’s excellent.

  59. From http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2008/08/27/olbermann-insults-matthews-air-chris-strikes-back

despite his ratings — which are considered good by MSNBC standards — there have been internal NBC grumblings concerning Olbermann for many months. These run the gamut from disagreements over: his arrogant, blustery style; his obvious far-left-wing advocacy, and; the fact that he’s really an unlikable guy.

  60. WMCB, on September 7th, 2008 at 9:43 pm Said:
HOLY SHIT – someone just said on another blog that MSNBC is dropping Tweety and Doberman from their election anchor spots. Gregory will cover debates and election night.

    Is this true?

Sure sounds likt it! This neutering was LONG overdue!

    Read more here…

MSNBC Takes Incendiary Hosts From Anchor Seat

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/08/business/media/08msnbc.html?ref=business

    BOOYAH!!

  61. I saw this on Fox last night:
Per some Congressional watchdog group, sorry wasn’t listening with both ears when it first came on, McCain’s rating for voting against wasteful government spending is 88, Obama’s is 18.

Also, McCain has never used taxpayer’s money for earmarks, Obama’s earmark average is $1 million for every DAY spent in the Senate. And of course those earmarks include the one given to the hospital where Michelle works – you know, the hospital that gave her a 200% raise after BO made it to the U S Senate.

  62. it’s in the new york times. they are out at msmbc…. our chanting worked….yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  63. BB and katiebird: “Look into my eyes, you are getting sleepy, ………………………. proceed to the early voting precinct, if Hillary’s name is not on the ballot, vote McCain/Palin, ………………………. live happily ever after………………………………”

  64. Carol,
Hillary’s name is NOT going to be on the ballot. Obama is the Dem nominee. There is nothing that is going to change that.

  65. Video of McCain-Palin rally in New Mexico:

Video is on on right under “Related to Story” heading

    http://www.koat.com/news/17414103/detail.html

  66. Remember that and act accordingly………………

  67. We have to make sure we get rid of Nancy, Reid, Kerry, Dean and the rest of them. Donna and Wolfe need to go for their bad behavior also.

Take them down all of them.

    Punishment, Retribution and Reform 2008

  68. The rats are deserting the sinking ship. The networks are just now taking notice of the reaction to their biased coverage and acting. If they are so far behind the curve, why do they think we need their reporting?

Traditional news reporting is in its death throes.

  69. that USA Today/Gallup poll are surprising.

  70. NYT:

“Some tensions have spilled out on-screen. On the first night in Denver, as the fellow MSNBC host Joe Scarborough talked about the resurgence of the McCain campaign, Mr. Olbermann dismissed it by saying: “Jesus, Joe, why don’t you get a shovel?”

The following night, Mr. Olbermann and his co-anchor for convention coverage, Mr. Matthews, had their own squabble after Mr. Olbermann observed that Mr. Matthews had talked too long.

Some staff members said the tension led to the network’s decision to keep Mr. Olbermann in New York for the Republican convention, after he ran the desk in Denver during the Democratic convention. MSNBC said that he stayed in New York to anchor coverage of Hurricane Gustav. But some workers say there were other reasons — namely, that Mr. Olbermann was concerned about his safety in St. Paul, given the loud crowds at MSNBC’s set in Denver.”

  71. michele the delegate was awesome.

    talky but very informative.

    thanks michele.

  72. masslib: ty – I don’t watch a lot of t.v.

joan: Agreed. They earned their positions, they should be addressed as such. I do oftentimes say “Hillary,” but I honestly believe that is her way of separating herself from 1st lady, wife of Bill Clinton – i.e., Mrs. Clinton to the candidate for POTUS that people can relate to. If I met her face to face, it would be Senator.

  73. When did Colorado become a “Republican” state? I lived there in 1992 and I felt very lonely as a Republican. I lived in Brighton, took to the bus to work in Denver what, 40 miles away. But so did a whole lot of people, including attorneys, some rode bikes, walked to work if they lived with a 2 mile radius and weather was good. They were Democrats. Now I’m hearing Colorado is Republican?

  74. Hillary Clinton is a goddess in my book.

  75. 😯

  76. It’s too soon to pop the corks on the champagne, but not too soon to put the champagne on ice!!! McCain 50 percent, Obama 46%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
