Obama Camp in Snit Mode Over Carville’s Comments

Incipient puma James Carville let it all out last night on CNN, criticizing “Obama’s Convention” for offering no positive message or even going a little negative on Bush and McCain.

“The way they planned it tonight was supposed to be sort of the personal — Michelle Obama will talk about Barack Obama personally, Ted Kennedy was a very personal, emotional speech,” Carville said. “But I guarantee on the first night of the Republican Convention, you’re going to hear talk about Barack Obama, commander-in-chief, tax cuts, et cetera, et cetera.”

“You haven’t heard about Iraq or John McCain or George W. Bush — I haven’t heard any of this. We are a country that is in a borderline recession, we are an 80 percent wrong-track country. Health care, energy — I haven’t heard anything about gas prices,” Carville also says. “Maybe we are going to look better Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. But right now, we’re playing hide the message.”

Oh dear! I guess Carville forgot that Clinton backers are supposed to STFU and spout the Obama party line. Will Obama order CNN to dump him again as they did during the primaries? The Wall Street Journal reports that Obama’s campaign is a bit PO’d at Carville right now.

Obama strategist Robert Gibbs pooh-poohed such talk Tuesday morning.

“What we set out to do last night I think was accomplished in a very, very big way,” he said, pointing to Michelle Obama’s well-received speech that touted Obama’s biography and her own.

Yeah, because it’s so much more essential that we hear more about Barack’s and Michelle’s upbringing and how they struggled to overcome being born into middle-class families with good incomes and nice homes. Oh yes, they had it so hard growing up! Poor Barack was forced to go to an exclusive private high school and Michelle’s Dad was an intimate of powerful Mayor Daley. Wow, I feel for them, I really do. And of course we need to hear about how Michelle met Barack and how and why they fell madly in love and what happened when she bore their first child. And on and on. Yes, these are the things America really cares about, James–not health care, taxes, or Iraq. Get a clue!

You just don’t get it, James. The message was there, you just missed it. The message was Unity!

Unity WAS the message,” said Hadley, an Obama delegate from Rockdale County. That’s him in the picture, taken last night from the floor of the Pepsi Center, where the convention is being held.

Hadley said the opening night was about Democrats coming together, not about the other side. There’s plenty of time for that in the next three nights, he said.

Fellow delegate Steve Leeds, an upledged delegate backing nominee-to-be Barack Obama, agreed. U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy’s emotional appearance was the highlight, Leeds said, as was a “strong and warm” speech from Michelle Obama.

Right, because if you go out there and pretend there is unity long enough, unity will magically appear and all will be right with the Party and the world. See how that works?

Oh wait. What’s this?

As he watched the first night of his Democratic National Convention from the cozy living room of local supporters Jim and Alicia Girardeau, Sen. Barack Obama undoubtedly wanted his wife, Michelle Obama, the headline speaker Monday, to be the news-making highlight of the day. But vocal protestors, the media and a few complicated egos directed the public’s attention earlier in the day to his primary rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.

As frustrated Democrats converged on Denver yesterday, some began chanting “caucus fraud,” while others shouted the word “sweetie,” a reference to the time Obama called a female reporter by the same name. One Clinton supporter who spoke to ABC News said Obama couldn’t be trusted. Another said, “He’s shifty and untrustworthy.” It was assuredly not the kind of message Obama and his diligently image-conscious team were counting on at the Democratic National Convention.

And this?

“I’m thoroughly disgusted with the Democratic Party. I believe the magic of Barack Obama was his ability to turn lifelong Democrats like us into McCain supporters overnight,” said Cynthia Ruccia, who organized the group Clinton Supporters Count Too as a way for swing voters to campaign against Obama.

“My vote is a protest vote. I live in Ohio, I know our votes count in a very special way because whoever wins Ohio is often the person who becomes the president of the United States. And I do not want to reward the Democratic Party with my vote. I am disgusted with them.”

And this? And what about this?

Conventions are derided as scripted affairs, but this one has no single script. The Clinton supporters in particular are unwilling to go along with what many see as a foreordained week. Their acronym, PUMA, stands for “Party Unity My (bottom),” and they chanted lustily about a stolen election, bad caucuses and traitorous leaders. In the backdrop of “Hardball,” they were enough to all but drown out Chris Matthews and his guests, forcing him to address the drama unfolding right behind him.

“I feel like the Democrats have not been practicing democracy,” said Jane Rizzo, a protester who came here from California. “I have been a Democrat for 30 years and have voted the party all the way down to dogcatcher. Not so this year.”

No one knows if she or her cohort will make good on that threat. And no one knows if the blog insurgency will overtake the consensus emanating from the big media buildings on the parking lot of the press center. It’s the first day, after all, and the knitting and bonding that will occur in the ensuing days may make vast chasms close up quickly. But right now, Denver feels less like one big tent than one that is under construction.

Poor Barack. His Unity message is being drowned out by nasty pumas. What could be the solution to all this madness?

We already know the answer, don’t we Conflucians? Hillary must fix Barack’s puma problem. Surely Hillary will bring unity with her speech tonight.

Clinton has urged her supporters to fall in line behind Obama, who is slowly marching across the country before making his acceptance speech in Denver on Thursday. But Clinton has said that the people who voted for her during the convention should have their voices heard and be able to cast their votes.

“There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that this is Barack Obama’s convention,” Clinton told reporters. And yet, she said, some of her delegates “feel an obligation to the people who sent them here” and would vote for her.

Don’t worry, Barack. I’m sure Hillary will figure out some way to fix everything for you. It sounds like you and Howard have already forced her to make the roll call “symbolic.” She needs to just tell those pumas to snap out of it. Yeah, that’s the ticket. We wouldn’t want to you to actually have to ask for the votes of her supporters, or–heaven forbid–offer any concessions in return for their votes. After all, we are only a bunch of old menopausal hags! Why should you bother talking to us?

Yes, I’m sure tonight in her speech, Hillary will find a way to convince me and all the other millions of pumas to vote for Barack. I feel sure that Hillary will endure any humiliation, make any sacrifice, and perform any task–no matter how menial–to ensure that Barack gets the “unity” he deserves. Because after all, that is her job.

UPDATE:Oops! Looks like Hillary has another mess to clean up for Barack. It sounds like Bill is implying he might vote for McCain.

The former president, speaking in Denver, posed a hypothetical question in which he seemed to suggest that that the Democratic Party was making a mistake in choosing Obama as its presidential nominee.

He said: “Suppose you’re a voter, and you’ve got candidate X and candidate Y. Candidate X agrees with you on everything, but you don’t think that candidate can deliver on anything at all. Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?”

Then, perhaps mindful of how his off-the-cuff remarks might be taken, Clinton added after a pause: “This has nothing to do with what’s going on now.”

Naaaaaah! That could never happen…..right?

That nails it. It’s always the broad’s job to make the manly man-man look good, in the minds of misogynistic self-absorbed bastards. I’m so sick of that I can’t even puke anymore.

  3. Come on Hillary.

You’re smart enough to ensure that a roll call vote happens on the floor in front of the nation—smart enough to make it look like it comes from the “people,” “the delegates.”

Looking for Hillary to overthrow something, damn it. If she doesn’t I’ll be really disappointed.

  4. Robert Gibbs, “What we set out to do last night, I think was accomplished in a very, very big way…”

So they set out to have Obama lose points in the Gallup Daily Tracking Poll and get zero bounce from the convention? Well done, Robert!

  5. Catholic Archbishop of Denver releases letter to Catholics in the Denver diocese:

“Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is a gifted public servant of strong convictions and many professional skills. Regrettably, knowledge of Catholic history and teaching does not seem to be one of them.”

  6. At an earlier moment, I think it was Pat Buchanan who presciently said that if the campaign is about what has happened for the past 8 years under Bush, the Democrats win; but if the campaign is about character and personalities of the candidates, the Democrats lose. A (D) behind the name is no longer enough. Obama is the selected candidate of the same people who didn’t enforce subpoenas, who continued to fund the Iraq war, who basically gave Bush everything he asked for.

Carville gets it. The so-called Democratic leadership still can’t see that there is nothing in O’s track record to indicate that he will ever fight for the causes that actually improve people’s lives.

  7. This morning, there was a long story that SM linked to in Yahoo News. It gave the Clintons’ point of view for the first time.

    What took them so long?

But Obama, too, is part of the Denver psychodrama. Some Democrats with high-level ties to both the Clinton and Obama camps said they were surprised that Obama has not done more to make the Clintons more enthusiastic about his candidacy.

Obama has taken the minimum public steps necessary to accommodate the Clintons, including giving them prime-time speaking spots.

But he has taken few of the extra steps that Clinton allies say would have gone miles toward fostering goodwill.

He did not work hard to help her retire her $24 million campaign debt.

He did not make a high-profile statement repudiating any suggestion that Bill Clinton played “the race card” in the nomination contest — an allegation that the former president considers grossly unfair and that continues to infuriate him.

Just as significant, Obama has maintained a certain cool diffidence toward the former president. They spoke by phone last week. But for weeks before that, associates said, Clinton had heard nothing and did not even know when he would be speaking at the convention. The Obama campaign’s only communication was a form letter sent to all delegates.

Clinton loves to offer advice to fellow Democrats. But even in their conversations, Clinton friends say, Obama shows little deference or signs that he thinks Clinton, the only Democrat since Franklin D. Roosevelt to win two terms, has any special wisdom to offer.

“There is a lot Obama could have done to unify the party, and basically he hasn’t lifted a finger,” said one Democratic operative who is close to the Clinton team.

Howard Wolfson, Hillary Clinton’s former communications director, wrote in the New Republic on Tuesday that Bill Clinton “feels like the Obama campaign ran against and systematically dismissed his administration’s accomplishments.

“And he feels like he was painted as a racist during the primary process. Sen. Obama would go a long way towards healing these wounds if he were to specifically praise the accomplishments of the Clinton presidency in a line or two during his speech on Thursday,” Wolfson added.

Anyone who does not understand this has a massive case of Clinton Derangement Syndrome. Obama’s treatment of the Clintons since South Carolina has been unforgivable. Hillary possesses the class and grace that he will never, NEVER have.

The Obamas can pretend to be the Kennedys all they want. They will never, EVER match the Clintons.

  8. Unity – my ASS — the word is ASS.

Thanks for the round up of da tv — I don’t have one of them there one eyed monsters.

That snotty – stuck up photo of Obama-Soetoro — nice touch.

And then last night someone mentioned that in one of BO’s books on tape — he read the part where he went to Pakistan using his Indonesian passport. And this guy is supposed to teach classes in Constitutional law and he doesn’t know that being a citizen of another country makes him ineligible to be President?? Amendment II — disqualifies the Precious. But what the heck — laws aren’t met for superior individuals like Obama/Soetoro.

Carville — I was wondering when he would speak the truth.

Thanks for watching da tv -one eyed monster so I don’t have to.

  13. Way to go Boston Boomer! Someone needed to label this dog and pony show for what it is. A big fat informercial starring Backtrack Obama. Convention? Hell no!

  14. Forgot to say, BB – AWESOME POST!!!

Regency…OMG! I just saw that Jimmy Carter video. He couldn’t say “black man?” Jeebus!

And by the way, can I please, PLEASE stop hearing people lying about Obama’s family now? He was not f*cking raised in poverty. You want to see poverty, you can take a look at his brother, George, living in a Nairobi slum.

EVERYTHING about Obama is a complete fabrication.

    George Obama.

Wow. That is all I have to say about this article, if you can even call it that. I have never heard such talk from someone claiming to be a Dem. The people spoke and they didn’t want HRC. Enough said. I myself do not feel that Obama is the greatest but he sure beats another 4 years of Bushism with McCain. What will happen is that PUMAs will write HRC in, Obama will fail to get the votes needed and McCain will win. Hats off to PUMAs. The slogan should be “If we can’t win we will screw everyone else”.

    Kudos!

  18. BB: Can you add an update about Big Dawg’s “hypothetical” about Candidate X and Candidate Y?

  19. No message?

I thought intended message was “Obama is a gift from God.” “Obama is JFK reincarnated.” “Obama is just a regular guy whose mama was once on food stamps for 5 minutes before his bank vice president granny sent him to a private school in Hawaii.”

That’s not substantive enough for you bitter dead-enders? You should just be satisfied with your Gift from God and stop complaining.

  20. cc – LOL!

Personally, I thought the message was “No, We Won’t.”

  21. Hillary is going to be a Saint this year, because that is what has been demanded of her. But she won’t fix anything.

I’m right there with Carville and the PUMAs; this is not about Hillary at this point (and even as a Saint they’ll find a way to malign her). It’s about democracy; when Obama moved DNC ops to his corrupt Chicago after having won only the barest of margins with unpledged superdelegates, it was the last straw in this top-down power-grab by liberal elitists and career-pol opportunists. I changed my party affiliation to N/A the next day. In one dizzying year the Democratic Party has transformed itself from the party of the New Deal and New Democrats to a corrupt juggernaut with a vapid and arrogant celebrity as its figurehead. Hillary’s speech tonight will not fix that, but she will be a saint about it, and they’ll still blame her for it all. And us, no doubt; these fools won’t wake up until the big tent is empty.

  22. I am such a heretic! Here he has been, right in front of me for the last 18 freaken months and I failed to accept him! Gift from God, The One, He, who we have been waiting for. How much more did I need to be convinced. Must have been the bolt of lightening missed my house. Or my cellphone needed recharging.

  23. @edgeofforever, I guess it’s true then that top Dems don’t care if obama loses/wins, as long as downticket Dems maintain their power, or have more voted in.

  24. Josh- Wow, has this sunk in your little brain? 18 million people spoke, they want Hillary Clinton.

  25. I would much rather remain in the PUMA cage than in the Big Tent nowadays. I find the company more congenial and the trip a pleasure even from under the bus.

  26. PanMetron – Here, here!

In one dizzying year the Democratic Party has transformed itself from the party of the New Deal and New Democrats to a corrupt juggernaut with a vapid and arrogant celebrity as its figurehead.

  27. I am a Democrat, always have been and have been proud to be one. I also used to be solid middle class, back when solid middle class still existed and honestly, I do not give a rat’s ass about Michelle Obama’s upbringing or her husband’s. For that matter, I really do not care about Hillary’s or Bill’s.

I want to know when I am going to stop paying 40% of my meager income in taxes while huge corporations pay nothing. I want to know how I am going to pay for fuel to heat my home. I want to know that my vote counts and that I am significant, whether I am a woman or not. I WANT TO KNOW WHEN MY SON IS COMING HOME FROM IRAQ AND IF HE IS SAFE! I WANT TO BE HEARD.

  28. Great post, BB — I love it!

  29. I second-third-what PanMetron said!

  30. If this convention does not address those concerns, I listed above, then I will tune in elsewhere, and if BO does not get the damn bounce he wants, then he should have addressed the concerns of the Democratic Party.

  31. Kim: Coming through loud and clear.

  32. KB: You heard what Big Dawg had to say today?

  33. I read many of these posts, but seldom join in the discussion. Thank you all for opening up your hearts and souls on this, and other PUMA sights. Thank you for giving me a place to read the truth. Thank you for giving me a place where I can read that there are truly others like me. Thank you for keeping me informed of what is happening behind the scenes in Denver. Thank you for all that you are doing to bring back the Democracy in the democratic party.

They lost me because of what the media, Obama, his supporters and the DNC said and did during the primaries, and continued to do since Hillary suspended her campaign. If they think that I am going to fall in line because of some scripted, unifying speeches in front of cheering supporters, they are totally crazy. I know what they did and I will remember in November.

  34. No, Regency.

    What did he say?

  35. Obama, Biden, Clinton names to be placed in nomination.

DENVER–Here’s how the symbolic dance is going to work. According to Obama spokesman Bill Burton, a deal was reached for Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary Rodham Clinton to all be nominated on Wednesday on the convention floor. The deal was cut Monday night between Obama chief delegate counter Jeff Berman and Clinton advisor Craig Smith. Joint petitions will be circulated; each needs just 300 signatures.

Most likely there won’t be a whole roll call: Illinois and New York may get to vote–to give
Clinton her due from her adopted state, and, as a bridge to Obama, her native state of Illinois.

  36. Folks, I woke up this morning, and for the first time felt very close to the suffragists. I am feeling what they felt. I feel very close to Rosa Parks. I feel very close to the women who marched for the ERA. I was either not born or too young during the historic events these women led. But I feel their fire running in my veins.

I will not be moved. I will not be silent. I will not take my usual secondary place.

Bring on the Great Parade of Testicles, yet another season of four more men on the national ticket.

I’m not voting for a single damn one of them.

    Rise, American Women, Rise.

  37. The O is PO’d?

I swear, I think we need to start a Precious Whine of the Day; the problem would be how to narrow it down to just one.

  38. Obama, the first WINNER to ever attempt to ride through the election on the coat-tails of the LOSER.

  39. James Carville is right, people want to hear about the issues. The Obama love fest is the last thing on their minds. All it does is show just how far out of touch with reality BO is, he is an elitist that thinks it is all about him. A public servant is just that, he will be elected to serve the American people and standing around telling people all about him just isn’t going to be enough.

  40. KB: This is fun: My Big Dawg speaks!

    http://thehill.com/campaign-2008/bill-clinton-in-denver-again-undercuts-obama-2008-08-26.html

Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?”

  41. At some point the positive confession of how unified we are going to be becomes delusion. The Democrats really are protesting too much…whistling through the graveyard basically.

No we aren’t unified, and no we won’t be unified. Are they so completely unaware of what’s going on that they can continue to spout this crap with a straight face?

    Mountain Sage

  42. Kim – Preach it, sister!

Is it any wonder that no one cared about Obama’s self-glorification last night? We have real issues going on in America!

  43. Regency – Big Dawg is voting for McCain!!!

    Holeee cr*p!!!

  44. Oh dear, what are we going to do with the Big Dawg? (giggles) (snorts)

  45. Regency: lawd amighy, if the SunTimes is right, I may just throw our Tvs out the front door tonight. So, these Dems got together & carved out a plan to give a few votes to Biden, a few votes to Hillary [including IL as a sop], and then we all shout, ‘Glory Be, give the rest to Precious!’

WTH! Kentucky didn’t go for Obama, why in the hell should he get our votes. Why bother with us going to vote, if they’re just going to willy-nilly slice us up like a vanquished country in a peace treaty! This better not be true.

  46. Quinipiac Polls:
Florida – McCAin up on Obama by 4 points
Pennsylvania – Obama up on McCain by 7 points
Ohio – McCain up on Obama by 1 point (?)

  47. Big Dawg is getting an extra special surprise from me now.

  48. Regency,

Is that supposed to be a message to Obama supporters? Because I don’t actually have any sense of what Obama believes in. So I couldn’t say whether I agree with him or not.

  49. Elixir, did you see that Rasmussen has McCain up by 2 today?

  50. The Big Dawg nailed it. Or, to put it anothwer way, he pees higher up the tree than Obama does.

    Rise

  51. The “unification” they are addressing is the voting coming from the delegates in Denver. The arm twisting, obsfucating, and intimidation have taken effect. What they refuse to recognize are those of us out here who are adamant in our refusal to coalesce. We are national and not all held hostage in Denver. This is the “unity ” they are speaking of, not us. Since they never considered us in the first place, this will come as a major surprise come November.

Screaming, taunting, abusing us will not change the dynamic. We are saying “now we won’t” and the message will finally arrive. There is no unity and never will be until this regime is purged.

  52. KB: I couldn’t say what sort of message it was but it definitely wasn’t no kind of unity message,

  53. Parentofed – I’ll bet it’s not true. But if it is, then just another reason not to vote for the product of this utterly corrupt system.

  54. regency: Get those books out now!

  55. Big Dawg just gave us the nod to vote McCain. Coded, but transparent. It is his own benediction.

  56. I just bought my books, I have you know. I did my math homework already and I just need to finish reading the next two books of the Iliad before tomorrow. Tonight I’m visiting the house because Mom apparently misses me and wants to see Hill with me. It’s all fine.

    TO THE GALLOWS!

  63. Enjoy. See the update.

Even today, there remain concerns among Clinton backers that Obama does not give the Democratic Party the best chance of defeating McCain and the Republicans in the presidential election. A CNN/Opinion Research poll conducted Aug. 23-24 found the two running similarly in trial heats versus McCain, with Obama and McCain tied (47% to 47%) but Clinton having a slim but not statistically significant advantage over McCain (49% to 46%).

  64. I’d say Bill’s message is not even coded. It’s a clear statement that Obama can’t deliver and McCain can.

Wait till the Obamaboyz hear about this one! Oh, the screeching and wailing that will ensue from the Cheetos!

Too late, boyz. That’s what you get when you mess with the Big Dawg.

  65. I am just waiting for the Ayres papers to be combed through.

  66. Cavuto said Dem delegates told him Romney would be their dream pick for McCain, with all their houses –

Romney said “All I’ll say to that is that I have one less house than John Kerry”

  67. Knowing how much pressure’s on Hillary, I doubt Pres. Clinton is, in any way, endorsing the Rep. nominee. Especially if 2012 is truly in the works for Sen. Clinton.

  68. THERE MUST BE A VISIBLE REACTION ON THE FLOOR.

  69. Regency – LOL! Good for Oven Mitt. 😉

  70. You gotta love Bill! They wanted a game of spitball back in SC, well it looks like Bill may be spitting the farthest in this contest. Don’t mess with the Big Dawg. He’ll take you down.

  71. Okay, I’ve had enough.

I’ve decided that in the next election, I am going to run for President of the US, and the reason that I am qualified is that, like Bush and Obama, I will let everyone know that I will unite the party and the country, plus I have some nice stories about my upbringigng and romance(s) and I can read a teleprompter.

  72. I was raised by a single mother. My kids got through school on scholarships. I love ice cream. I qualify.

  73. CatsinMN,
You may not speak often [here] but your post said it well. Just having The Confluence available to read or post is pure balm during this scorching election season.

  74. Oooh, ooh! I was raised lower-middle class. My parents had 2 children and we had hamsters. I have a “meet cute” story with my husband too. My eyesight is 20-20.

    I am ready to serve!

  75. I just bought a new pair of shoes. Do you like them?

(Edited to make the comment more amusing to the Site Administrator)

  76. When I first read Karolina’s post, I said to myself I am not eligible, because I inhaled, but I guess that’s okay now.

  77. I know of a Kerry house in Nantucket, Beacon Hill in Boston, a mansion in Pittsburgh with Theresa. How many others I have no idea. But none of the aforementioned residences are cheap by any means.

  78. Snit? Snit? They’re ALWAYS in a snit over somthin’!

    I HEREBY CHRISTEN

    THE UN-DEMOCRATIC PARTY

    THE

“I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S NOT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!”

This year the United States’ two main political parties are running nominees for president. The two political parties are:

    The Republican Party,
    and the
“I Can’t Believe It’s Not the Republican Party!

    !!

  79. Regency,

I put up an update on the Bill Clinton story. Thanks!

  80. Actually, I may be a bit over-qualified. I’ve held a full-time job most of my adult life. Oh well.

  81. Oh yeah, can I throw in that I too am “Catholic”? I need that bloc.

  82. My mom’s daily report came through at lunch and she said they were talking up Kay Bailey Hutchinson for McCain.

  83. Kim: Can you all hear my groan from here?????????

  84. Will PUMA have a presence at the Repub convention in St. Paul?

  85. FOX News: Showign footage of the TONS of marchers, Hillary supporters in Denver. It’s AMAZING!!!!

  86. Karolina NYC – Far too qualified. It is much better to have vacation experience than work experience if you aspire to the Presidency. Just ask Dubya.

  87. G Green: Tha’s what all the pod-people say. Slap yourself, for heaven’s sake!

  88. On Fox – they’re talking about Gloria Allred – she is a magnificent PUMA!

  89. Yeah was just gonna mention the Allred story; they told her to cast her vote for Obama; she said no, I came here to vote for Hillary – that’s what the voters sent me here for. They said NO; she went to a committee; walked around the Convention Floor with a “mock gag” wrapped around her neck. Gotta Love It!

  90. G Green translation:

    Waaaaaaahhhhh!

  91. Linus Bern:

Waaaaaaah! You’re mean and poopy because you won’t let me insult you!

  92. The communist party is furious that McCain owns 7 house’s.

  93. Hmm, let me see, I think, like BO, I’m qualified to run for president, too:

    I’m in my forties.
    I’m a mixed-race brunette.
    I’m thin.
    I can read.
    I write books.
I have taught in a university.
I have accomplished nothing in Congress.
I am completely aware that Hillary Clinton is smarter than I am.
    I can smile.
    I like praise.
    I don’t handle criticism well.
    I tire easily.
I would like everyone to wake up in the morning and adore me.
    I’ve been to Europe.
    I’ve been to Hawaii.
    I’ve been to Africa.
    I’ve been to Indonesia.
I was raised in part by my grandmother.
    I have short hair.
    My teeth are straight.
    My ears could be smaller.
I would prefer to have things handed to me.
    I have been interviewed.
I make copious mistakes when taken off-guard.
    I breathe.

  94. Did Wolfson just say that now Obama is saying the vote is a no-go?

  95. I love Gloria Allred! She is stirring it up! Fox also reported that the floor vote tomorrow could lead to some interesting outrage. Apparently if they feel the votes are going too heavily for Hillary they will continue to switch the order of states thus blocking her out from reaching the nomination ahead of him. If they do this all America will be watching. And McCain shows a 2 point national lead today over Bambi!

  96. Pat: I’m hearing they’ve called off the vote. Is that true?

  97. Aw, the poor trollies. They just don’t get that their candidate will lose no matter what we do.

John Kerry had 89% of the Democratic Party’s vote and STILL LOST.

Go yell at the Democratic Party for deliberately selecting this unelectable candidate, sweeties. They had a better one who won more votes and all the big state primaries she needed to. They decided not to nominate her.

  98. ———————————-

Gloria Allred, outspoken Clinton backer, muzzles herself to make a point

DENVER — Leave it to the media-savvy (some would say media-obsessed) Gloria Allred to find a way to dramatically publicize her discontent as a disgruntled Hillary Clinton supporter at Barack Obama’s convention.

Allred, a Los Angeles attorney and a member of the California delegation at the confab, told The Times’ John Mitchell she was fed up with delegation leaders rebuffing her efforts to give Clinton her due.

She said she had wanted to honor Clinton’s “historic candidacy” in an address to fellow delegates at their Tuesday morning breakfast, but was turned down. She wanted to meet with other Clinton delegates privately, but was refused.

So (in what is usually her move of first-resort) she decided to take her case to the media.

She tied a cloth napkin around her mouth and distributed a flier asking the question: “Why is Gloria being gagged?”

Later, she said she wants to “fight for Obama, but first I want to honor the votes that were cast for Clinton.”

  99. Magdalena: I would love nothing better than to serve in your cabinet. If fact, I will even hold the teleprompter for you.

  100. Magdalena – LOL!

Well, I’m Jewish AND female, so that disqualifies me from the presidency for at least another 40 years….

  101. The real problem is we don’t really get it, the positive message is about the messiah arriving and the historic wonder that he is. It’s I think better to say Carville like most of us did not appreciate the positive message there is one it’s all about Obama, it’s just a dog whistle we don’t hear.

  102. Johnny, sorry, don’t have time to help you pack, byeee.

OBTW; Magdelena, can you read off the tela-prompter?If so,you’ve got my vote.

  103. regency: Megan Kelly reported they will have the rollcall vote BUT as soon as the votes start piling up in Hillary’s favor they will change the order of states to guarantee his getting over the needed number. Stay tuned. I just saw this a few minutes ago These things keep changing by the hour.

  104. Yes, Linus, we are all Republicans, racists, vampires, zombies, and eat babies for breakfast. Now go find your blankie.

  105. madamab: Female and Jewish don’t forget. Sorry, don’t quite fit the narrative.

  106. By the way, did you read ALL of Rendell’s statements. Apparently, he got the warnings.

“(Barack Obama) is a little like Adlai Stevenson,” Rendell mused. “You ask him a question, and he gives you a six-minute answer. And the six-minute answer is smart as all get out. It’s intellectual. It’s well framed. It takes care of all the contingencies. But it’s a lousy soundbite. We’ve got to start smacking back in short understandable bites. Everybody is nervous as all get out. Everybody says we ought to be ahead by 10, 15 points. What the heck is going on?”

    – Governor Ed Rendell, August 26th, 2008 Den€ver

  107. Are the site monitors at supper?

  108. Idiot Quote of the Century

“My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.” – Barack Obama

  109. LOL @ madamab. Touche. 🙂

  110. let jerry speak.

  111. My Ed knows the difference between a winner and a loser. He did not turn Philly around without having a lot of smarts and chutzpah. He is bailing before this ship sinks. And if I know Eddie, he is not averse to saying, “I told you so”! This guy shoots from the hip. Love him.

  112. Pat? What did you find?

  113. Where’s the bump?

  114. But then, of course, there are so many things that make BO a superior presidential candidate to me:

I do not lie and cheat enough.
I have never indulged in thuggery, in Chicago or anywhere else.
I could never bring myself to order the gaming of a caucus.
I like women. Their pay would be equal to that of the men on my staff, if I had one.
I would never call or reporter “sweetie” or “feisty.”
    I tend to answer questions.
I know how many states there are in the Union.
I know where I am physically standing at all times.
I protested the Iraq war from the moment of its inception.
    I possess core Democratic principles.
I have always had a tolerable grasp of the issues.
I don’t try to scare women with their own uteruses.
I accept that many people don’t like me.
Although I am mixed-race, I do not belileve anyone who dislikes or disagrees with me is automatically a racist.
My grandmother taught me not to say “um” and “er” long ago.
Much to my everylasting annoyance, I tend to care about people other than myself and my immediate family.
I will not not stop at nothing.

  115. Oh now the electoral college matters? Hillary wiped the floor with them BOTH in the Electoral College. That’s just a fallacious argument now.

  116. Regency: Great quote but the irony will be lost on the Bots.

  117. katiebird: Johnny and Linus Bern. Still here.

  118. Magdalena: With your qualifications you may have a list of marriage proposals coming your way!

  119. Johnny: We remember when the Supremes gave the election to GWB. We’ll remember when the DNC gave the primary to BHO. We don’t forget/

  120. Peter Anderson – who’s jerry?

    LOL

Johnny – Oh, the electoral college!

    Glad you brought that up.

At this time in 2004, John Kerry was leading electorally by a huge margin.

    I forget, did he win?

  121. Magdalena;Sorry,You’ve lost my vote,tela-prompter skills are a deal-breaker for me.

  122. jerry brown

  123. Johnny; Make that Selected.

  124. Pat – even in the most mundane and simple statements one cannot find a modicum of truth in BO’s statements.

As far as Regency – I am calling her Freshman advisor. She is going to have to be lock down.

    PUMA HAKA 👿

  125. Watching fox. Wondering if anyone else heard a delegate mention that they were on a conference call with HRC and she “released” them. He is a former clinton delegate.

    Any news on this?

  126. Its true Johnny, there is such a fundamental flaw in their reasoning that it is impossible to reach any conclusion other than that this is a Republican front group trying to create divisions on the left.

  127. Dick Morris actually made a good point in his interview. He said that if Hillary comes out and gives a speech that energizes the crowd, Obama is going to look like an idiot for not choosing her for the ticket. He said the point will be driven home after Biden’s speech which they expect won’t come as close to as great as Hillary’s

  128. She can release, not release. They know their mission, they know their duty!

  129. On Fox, I just heard a Hillary delegate say that they had a confernece call with her just an hour ago and that she released them. Any confirmation out there?

  130. Linus and Johnny sittin’ in a tree
    K – i – s – s- i – n – g
    First comes love
    then comes marriage
then comes Johnny with a baby carriage

  131. Awww, how adorable. The lying trolls are having a little conversation all on their own.

One would think they would get their own blog where they can lie, insult and chatter away to their hearts’ delight.

  132. Carol! I’ve done my homework. I told you. I got this.

  133. Just walked in and haven’t read the post or comments but on CNN Wolf Blitzer was “correcting” Carville’s remarks saying he was impressed with Kennedy’s speech and Michelle’s speech. Evidently, political “correctness” is now required of politcal commentaries—surprise? Not

  134. Madamb,

Sadly enough, they do have their own blogs but no one visits them. Take a look if you have time, their posts have no comments. It really is heartwarming that they are attracted to Hillary supporters and feel complete with our message.

    Linus needs his blankey.

  135. So now if Hillary delivers a knock out speech she will be further crucified for doing so at his expense. Holy Mother of God, what do they want from this woman? If she goes low key she get pilloried for not giving it her all but if it is really good than clear the decks because she will have dissed him to his face! And who decides which is which, Jesse Jackson, Jr.? I give up!!

  136. Considering how often BO has, in his limited Congressional career, aligned himself with conservative ideals, when politically expedient, it’s hilarious to hear his supporters attempt to paint others as “Republican” operatives. Ha. Too much.

  137. Ah, Phala.

    Orwell is here.

Anyone who thinks for themselves is a problem.

Me, I love being the problem.

  138. Does anyone know what time Hill is on tonight?

  139. Magdalena; Who knows. The list of speaker total around 20 and it starts at 5.

  140. Obama maintains an impressive lead …

when you factor in all 57 states.

  141. four legs good
    two legs bad

  142. FrenchNail, the guy on FOX that I saw said he was on a conference call with her a month ago and she released her delegates than. He and the Interviewer agreed that it was the right thing for her to do.

    It was a lie.

  143. I find it so insulting when the media says ‘they will come home in November’. Even using the word ‘home’ irritates me.

  144. cbn – I would “come home” if I recognized the people in it. As it stands, current occupants resemble little of the Democratic family I’ve come to know and support.

  145. It’s just media inaccuracy. I will stay home in November.

  146. elixir, it’s always about Hillary’s coattails, isn’t it? They need our blog to post in, and Obama needs to ride to the presidency on HER coattails.

  147. Edwardian, it’s a “home” invasion.

  148. These Obama pundits who say there is unity reminds me of “Baghdad” Bob saying the US Military isn’t in Iraq.

  149. edwardian, most of the people in the house now (including the Cheeto Grande) were Reaganites and Libertarians, not Dems for decades like most of us.

    They are SQUATTERS.

  150. Thanks Katiebird. My heart skipped a beat.

Delphine went on the French 24 hour cable news today against an Obamot and whipped the floor with her. The debate was great, she introduced and defined the PUMAs to the French audience. GREAT

  151. @madamab 4:55 PM

“I’d say Bill’s message is not even coded. It’s a clear statement that Obama can’t deliver and McCain can.”

What did he say? Where? Crap! I leave for 5 mintues to get some work done, and all hell breaks loose.

  152. Reg – the lock down will be to keep you away from Eddy and the Big Dawg.

The Big Dawg is busy and cannot be distracted.

Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?”

  157. Ah, Carol, you should be glad Pat decided to put a muzzle on me or you’d hear what I have to say about Bill being busy and his proven ability to multi-task.

Ann On: This is fun: My Big Dawg speaks!

    was that respectful enough?

  163. Pat: no all of them, but I surely do… That said this cable news is widely seen in the French speaking countries of Europe and Africa. Always good to have on our side.

  164. Sweet and feisty
    So zeitgeist-y
    Miss NOvember

  166. fuzzy, Bill has joined the PUMAs too!

  167. He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow. ~ George Eliot

  168. Fuzzy, see what my hunk of burning love had to say. Then see what Ms. Gloria Allred has to say. Then see that MSNBC is going up in flames with all the infighting. Then see what Rendell has to say. And see that Nancy Pelosi is a dumbass. Then see that Don Fowler is finally worried. Then, see that Terry Mac’s about had it with one thing and another makes him speechless. Then see that they’re terrified and the roll call just might be off.

  169. Everybody send a great big Happy Birthday to the grand PUMA herself, Geraldine Ferraro!

  170. Happy Birthday, Gerry, if you are reading! You are one of my sheroes, and I will be forever grateful for your courage and truthfulness.

Anyone have an addy where we could send well wishes?

  171. fuzzy, we have a California delegate walking around wearing a red gag in protest of being expected to be a “potted plant” and vote how they are told.

    PUMAs are rockin’ Denver!

  172. RD has a new thread up

  173. Okay, so do you remember the Bush/Gore fiasco in Florida (of course you do, silly of me to ask). The Florida Supreme Court had said do the recount. Up the the Supreme Court it went and every single commentator (with exception of one scared looking right-wing constitutional lawyer) said SC will uphold Florida SC. No way in hell they will go against Florida’s
court. But they did. Oh yes they did.
So, just because ALL the media say Hillary won’t win…it still can happen. They’ve been oh so wrong before. Come on Hillary! Come on delegates. Do the right thing! Give us the real leader! Give us Hillary!

  174. congressman Rangel on stage with other representatives of Black Caucus making remarks about Cong. Stepahine Tubbs-Jones

  175. OK had it Obama had to send me a request for $$$ and to tell me how lucky he is to have Michelle My patience has been exausted-here is my reply (send the kids out of the room):

Look my dad was an enlisted man and had 5 kids Michelle and Your Holiness’ struggles are jack shit compaired to my mother who lost her husband when she had 5 teenagers in the house-talk about celebrating a single mother bringing up kids, that was my mom not yours. So F**K You! Go drink a Latte and munch on some Arugula Souffle in Brie cheese.

You and your wife make me want to spew. What your Oganization did to John Edwards reporting him to the Enquirer was dirty I hope you cannot sleep tonight. We are not even going to flipping Hillary off. I bet you had your heart removed with your conscience you creep.

I have had enough. It is not The Clintons job to deliver her 18 million voters to you, you gutless coward! I see you going down bigtime in November Obama 232 electorial votes to McCain 306 votes. I dont even have to support McCain and he will go down.

You are a sorry excuse for a human being! I would tell you so to your face JackA$$! I hope Howard Nancy and Donna will keep you and Michelle warm. You are so going to loose. I will dance and p*ss on the grave that will be Obama for America.

Leave me alone you liar and thief. NO Unity! NObama! NOvember!

Will I hear the secret service comming to get me?

    fuzzybeargville

  176. michael at 6:16
one of the many mysteries of this twilight zone episode known as pick the poser, has been the absolute lack of the much lauded secret service
vigilance in response to death threats. (your comment is by no means a death threat– you don’t even threaten to throw a soiled napkin at him, after all–but it does bring the issue to mind).
They could run a ticker for death threats from the Obamazombies towards Hillary, her supporters, the person who might have sneazed during an Obama commercial… I think the ticker might match the national deficit by now. However, not one story about any of these miscreants being hauled away by the secret service. Another “whatever” issue, I guess.

  177. To Kim:

Prayers for your sons safe return home and please tell him thankyou for his service to our Country.

Taxes..Oh My God….my concern is that if NoBama gets into office; instead of 40% of our income in tax payments we will pay 90% of our income and for that benefit we will be moved to and get to live in Condo’s provided by RezKo like Obama buddies (others not so fortunate will have cardoard boxes provided- this will be the Obama solution to the housing crises).

ObomaNation will then distribute tho collected tax dollars to himself and his fellow cabal members in the US and throughout the world.

Elections will be suspended and Obama will be declared Emporer Obama, Chosen One, Speaker of All Truths…..this is the CHANGE we have been waiting for….

Solution: Work to ensure that this OUTRAGEOUS ONE…Destroyer of Democracy is soundly defeated in November.
    NOBAMA…NO-WAY…NO-HOW!!!
A no vote for Obama is a vote for DEMOCRACY!!!

  178. Great letter fuzzybear, I got a donation request letter too and I’m working on a reply…yours was fantastic;
    I am inspired!!!

On the envelope that I got there was a sentence that said…”This Time It Will Be Different”….

Yeah well the reality is that this time….they will loose even bigger then before,,,Stupid DNC!!

A vote against NoBama is a vote for DEMOCRACY!!

    PUMAs Rule!!

  179. Hillary Clinton could take on John McCain with one hand behind her back and wouldn’t have any need whatsoever to depend on Barack Obama to help her. The fact that he himself cannot gain the support of her followers in consistent with his pattern of not earning anything his entire life.
Affirmative action admittance to Columbia, legacy admittance to Harvard Law, running unopposed for the Illinois Senate by back-stabbing Alice Palmer, running almost unopposed for the U S Senate by having divorce papaers of his opponemt unsealed by the court, having Emil Smith hand to him the work of many others in the Ilinois Senate so he could claim work not his own, the list is endless. Barack Obama is a user, not a doer.
I may not agree with John McCain on many core issues, but I trust him to do the hard work that is required to be POTUS, and I trust him to do it with class and dignity. I have no such feelings about Barack Obama.

  180. Kim, you said it.

How pathetic is it that by time the convention rolls around we have to be PLACATED that our candidate is human.

    How is this post-racial?

Did anyone else but me hear a pundit say Michelle helped soothe our fears that Obama was “just like us” even tho he “looked different?”

WTF are they talking about!!! Like I need to know AA’s are the same as any other person??

Are they mad? As in March Hare and Hatter mad?

  181. I do not like the fact that my son aged 19 has never seen a proper Party Convention.
He has never seen people fighting on the floor. Now this year he doesn’t even get to see different factions holding different signs and waving them in the air.
    He sees nothing but choreography.
Choreography is great at the Olympics opening ceremony, but I find it a total bore in politics, and not at all educative.

And I opposed the war in Iraq which means I have good judgment (I was living in my own country when the US invaded Iraq but I told my friends that it is the wrong thing to do) . Now that makes me the best qualified of you all to run for POTUS.

And you are all r@c!sts if you dont vote for me.

  183. You know in that whole “Living the American Dream” touchy-feely good speech that MEchelle gave last night she never once mentioned what most American families cannot take for granted anymore – getting her “dream house”. I wonder why she made no mention at all of buying her Dream House……

  184. Pat and Karolina….just step back. I qualify most for president.

My dad was first-generation American-born of immigrants. My mom? Born in a LOG CABIN. That you have to ford a creek to get to. Haha. Beat that.

Every major religion is represented in my extended family. Plus country music stars.

And to top it off? I have things I would have to repent (but adultery is not one of them).

I double-dog dast anyone to match that.

  185. I just saw a poll on Fox showing:

    McCain up by 7 points!

  189. You people! You don’t care if another Republican gets elected…because you were slighted? That’s so infantile…no…that’s inadequate….you’re idiots….just like the right wing religionists…..God help us.

  190. What is the vast experience Hillary has as an executive? She doesn’t…and by the way she doesn’t have the power of 18 million votes because all of you are not under her direction….you just f—-d your own candidate.

  191. Does Carville ever say anything possible? He really does have anger management issues.

  192. I have a solution to my Nov.4 dillema: I can’t bring myself to vote for Obama, writing in Hillary would not help her, Voting for McCain would keep the Republicans in power, which I do not want. What I want is to do “all I can” for Obama as Hillary asks. So I will write in Barack Obama for prez, but only 1/2 a vote, no more no less than Florida and Michigan voters got in the primary. I may even petition in advance to get a ruling in writing as to why they throw my vote out. Of course 1/2 a vote makes no sense. It made no sense in the primary. Perhaps, I could appeal to a higher authority, all the way to the Supreme Court. It’s a general election after all… Hmmmm.

  193. OBAMA PROSTITUTION A NEO-MARXIST DELUSION

Obama’s desperate enemies, the Neo-Con Republicans and Neo-Lib Democrats in positions of power in government, education, industry, teacher and labor unions, and news and entertainment media continuously strive to induce presidents, congressmen, and judges to serve as their political prostitutes. Their Crypto-Neo-Marxist divisive politics and notorious subversive contempt for nationalism, Christian culture, Constitutional Law, Kennedy Liberals and Reagan Conservatives make them an increasingly intolerable threat to the American People fighting in the escalating Cultural War.

Having had their notoriously vicious and crooked candidates, Leiberman Neo-Lib Clinton and Podhoretz Neo-Con McCain defeated; they have stopped their hate-baiting and slandering, and have cunningly started their tactical systematic ingratiation to Obama, with flattery and money.

Shall Obama prostitute himself; or shall Obama prosecute them? Shall he keep counsel with Liberal Kennedy and Conservative Reagan, or shall he keep counsel with Neo-Lib Clinton and Neo-Con Bush? Shall he be their master, like Kennedy and Reagan; or shall he be their nigger, like Clinton and Bush?

  194. Let’s all vote for McCain and take away a woman’s right to abortion!!!!

  195. Nice blog! Keep up the good work.
