    • Assassination Works Only Under Two Circumstances
For years, decades even, America has had a policy of assassination. Americans believe that if you kill the leaders, you kill an organization. This is delusional. It only works when it almost isn’t necessary. How many times has American killed the #2 man of the Taliban? Did killing Osama stop Al-Qaeda? Assassinating Yamamoto in WWII […]

The Beautiful Protest and Rise

Murphy has a post up about The Beautiful Protest and Rise in Cheesman Park in Denver on Monday night.  The purpose of the Rise is to celebrate the achievments of Hillary Clinton (since it looks like the middle aged white guys aren’t going to do it). Dr. Saharra Bledsoe conceived the event and PUMAPac will be coordinating with her group to make this a fitting tribute to one of the most amazing women in American history.  If you can join us, please do.  If you can only be there in spirit, be sure to light a candle. See PUMAPac for all of the details.

  1. I believe there is a website where you can light a virtual candle. That would be a great place for those of us who can’t be there to show solidarity.

    Mountain Sage

  2. Mountain Sage: Do you have a link to that site?

  3. All right, that’s enough of the virtual stuff. Just go get a frickin’ candle from your buffet and light the sucker. Sometimes the toobz is too much of a good thing.

  4. I like the poster – is it for sale – donation to the events or Hillary?

  5. I don’t see the time mentioned for this candlelighting ceremony. Should we assume on the East Coast that it will be around 9pm? It is dark now by 8.

  6. This is so beautiful. I love the name, the Liberty Godess, the name, the quote, and the purple. Simply the best, just like Ms. Hillary.

  7. I am so jealous of all who are having the opportunity to go to Denver. What a marvelous milestone.

  8. Purple? It’s light blue on my screen.

  9. Just read the email from SD William Cobb. Aside from the obvious spurt of stupidity that he won’t support the nominee if it’s Hillary, this is such a childish, badly-written letter. Can you get a Ph.D from elementary school?

  10. I don’t see the time mentioned for this candlelighting ceremony. Should we assume on the East Coast that it will be around 9pm? It is dark now by 8.

On the PUMA PAC site, I think it says the evening events are from 7-10 p.m. and the candlelights ceremony will be at exactly 9:45 p.m. I’m assuming that’s mountain time. They should specify that.

  11. How do we buy one of those posters? Beeyootiful.

  12. From PUMA PAC:

The Rise speakers and entertainment will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 10 p.m., with the national “Rise” candle salute to Hillary, Democracy and Lady Liberty to Kickoff in Cheesman Park at exactly 9:45 MDT.

  13. That’s a good point ufa. They should make posters and t-shirts with that image.

  14. If they sell them, they can put the money toward paying down HRC’s debt.

  15. I’ll be lighting a real candle, absolutely.

Just checked my e-mail and today got a group note from Michael Moore. He asked Caroline Kennedy to be the VP for BO, because any of the 3 guys that BO will be choosing from will “pull him off of the moral high ground” from which he was able to beat Hillary.

I find it sad, because MM was such an astute, powerful and strong critic/writer until this year. Maybe he is not well?

  16. Maybe he drank the Kool-Aid.

  17. what a wonderful idea. and the graphic is beautiful.

  18. fif..i already suggested that ..but too close to the convention and not enough time to get it done. But after con. I did tell Dances wth Pumas that I would work on it , because I think it’s so beautiful!!

  19. she’s the one who designed it !

  20. Mary Beth,

You’re probably right about their not enough time to get things printed, but I heard on TV the other day that Denver’s printers are hurting. They thought they would get a lot of business from the convention, but have received very few orders so far. (Lots of requests for donated work, though.) One of them might be able to give you a really good deal and get the stuff out fast, especially if the artwork is already done and can be sent to them via computer.

  21. PatJ,

If you were on the West Coast, I’d offer you a ride to Denver. Sorry you won’t be able to make it.

  22. Concerning news friends. Light one more candle tonight.

Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones was admitted to Huron Hospital in East Cleveland Tuesday tonight.
The family requested that the hospital not release any information about her condition.

The Cleveland Heights police department is to put out a news release in the morning about the incident.

WOIO Channel 19 is reporting that Tubbs Jones was behind the wheel of a car moving fast in Cleveland Heights. Police tried to pull her over but she was unconscious.

Nicole Williams, spokeswoman for the 11th District congresswoman, had no information about the incident.

Look, I’m hesitant to put on my tinfoil hat here, but this is really concerning. It’s really weird that so many Clinton delegates are having such a string of bad luck. Feinstein just broke her ankle. Gwatney was murdered. A KY delegate was replaced by an Obama delegate wrongfully. One’s being challenged in CO. One was apparently hit by a car.

Now this. That sits very badly with me.

  23. Regency, I just read the news about Feinstein and Stepahnie Tubbs Jones. And it had me thinking the same thing. Feinstein was going to head the California delegation and she was a Hillary supporter. I think she would have made sure Hillary got her votes. Something feels not right about all this.

  24. Geez…I hate to be a conspiracy theorist but…

  25. And of course I’m watching the X Files on Sci-Fi right now!!

  26. Fredster, so am I.

Like RD says, the first is a data point, the second is a trend, the third is a correlation.

  27. RD, the event is on Monday night. Looking forward to it.

  28. Hold on a minute guys. The details are too sketchy to draw any conclusions, but one question does come to mind. Had she been drinking? Maybe that’s why people are playing this so close to the vest. I mean no disrespect to Ms. Tubbs-Jones, she’s a hero in my book, but in a way, drunk driving might be the most favorable scenario.

  29. Really, too many unknowns at this time. High blood pressure or diabetes? Both are prevalent in the AA community. Or the unconsciousness could be the result of medication or a change in medications. Just too soon right now to know.

  30. Drunk driving is never a favorable scenario. Politically it’s a suicide leap. Hopefully it’s just high-blood pressure. That’s a favorable scenario. She can recover from it health-wise and politically it’s no problem.

  31. Yep Regency and changing meds can cause all types of adverse reactions too. Hopefully this is nothing too serious and she’ll recover fine.

  32. Regency, I wasn’t thinking politically. I was thinking in terms of immediately life-threatening.

  33. Could be a stroke/heart attack. It’s not common to hear unconscious at wheel while driving. Asleep at the wheel is one thing, unconscious is a whole ‘nother story.

Hopefully she will be just fine. Just keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

  34. GMorning. This is week we will be packing/cleaning up big time….we FINALLY are moving…..it has takee FOREVER but I believe this is it.

Don’t you hate it when life gets in the way of your plans?….anyway…I will be reading what is going on at other sites and come back later.

  35. Those of us who can’t go need to make them at home – for ourselves – no matter how small

  36. Not Congresswoman Tubbs-Jones she has been such a strong voice for the democratic process I hope she is all right she always shined on TV supporting Hillary.

    Creator Father Mother God/dess

Watch over our friend Stephanie Tubbs-Jones place your healing hand s on here send your sweet angle Bethesda to heal her and make her strong.

We need her strength in the comming dauys and she has much work to do to make this world a better place. Be strong for as she as been strong for her constituents, her country and her friends.

A strong voice for civil rights and tolerance is needed now please give us back this wonderful public servant who has made selfless service the hallmark of her carreer. We Ask this in your name.

    Amen

Fuzzybeargville -worried for the great congresswoman

  37. sorry for the typos I am very upset-Fuzzybeargville

  38. Amen, Fuzzy.

  39. Nice morning prayer, Fuzzy.

So it seems we won’t know about the VP until Saturday…

I guess with everything else not going so well there is a need for good news/anticipation before the convention/three ring circus.

the wait is going to so worth it, their campaigning together in Springfield (sp) so symbolic….I can’t wait.

  40. OT but interesting. So this morning I turned on the local news (channel 10) and there was a commercial for I believe Eleanor Sobel who is running for state senate. She says she is a fighting Democrat and has pictures of herself with other leaders. What is missing is a picture of herself with Barack Obama, but she does have a picture of herself with Hillary Clinton. I think she is very smart. She knows how Florida feels about Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama! Super Ds are you listening, because Eleanor Sobel is!

  41. the wait is going to BE so worth it (heh, coffee please)

  42. Eleanor Sobel is very smart. Come on, we know which of these two is the fighter. It ain’t Spanky.

  43. I heard on NPR that the VP nominee won’t even know until the text messages go out….. how effing immature…. that made my blood boil.
what a lousy american idol circus this has turned into

  44. Eleanor better watch it because once O campaigns in FL and Floridians get to know him and his vision for America, they will most absolutely reject Ms. Sobel….wouldn’t you?…the nerve…

  45. indigo, let go of the hate…(snark)

  46. I’m living for the day I get to reject The One!

  47. Obama lies to his supporters again? it will be wednesday now saturday maybe he will wait till he actually wins the nomination? maybe he should he will look foolish otherwise-weak weak weak-

    fuzzybeargville

    Rise Hillary Rise!

  48. ima playa hatah…. the best one evah!

  49. wouldn’t it be funny if daddy mac stepped up and announced his first to steal the thunder (in O’s case a small rap at the door)….

  50. Upstate

I am certain Ms. Sobel is shaking in her shoes as we speak. LOL

  51. FLVoter: Good to hear from you. All power on? Oh, and go, Eleanor,

  52. No Fuzzy, he is not lying, he is postponing it to the weekend so the lack of positive movement in the polls after his transcendental announcement will not be talked about the rest of the week.

  53. Hanging out on some of the republican bloggs is not good for your health they are so happy right now-Its Obama in November they are all about McCain winning the popular vote 55% to 45% against Obama and they believe that they will win the electorial vote by 50+!

Acording to them it will be a swing sweep-Ohio, Pennsylvainia, Florida and Missouri! Some even believe it will be McCain in Oregon and New Mexico by close margins…..Michigan could be in play too.

I am beginning to agree with them The Blue collar vote is not going Obama’s way at all…

For Creators sake can we please have Hillary clinton back

    fuzzybeargville

  54. Fuzzy, the AA blue collar voters will support O, the rest (Hispanic/Anglo/other), who knows. Unions will try…

  55. chatblu

We had only on off moments with power lasting no more than a couple of minutes each time. So really, nothing. No flooding, not much wind. How’d you do?

  56. FLVoter: About the same. Closer to power stalls than outages. I still have to wonder how 10,000 were without power with 40-50 mph non-sustained winds. Some flooding, but water receded in 2-3 hours.

  57. PUMAs: Strong, yet graceful in repose.

  58. I don’t know if it means anything or not but Tim Kaine and Obama have a town hall meeting tonight in Lynchburg, VA.

    Mountain Sage

  59. Wishing Rep. Tubb-Jones a full and expedient recovery.

  60. HOW do I get one of those posters and if a donation is needed count me in.

Man that poster and the “We are the ones no one expected” is awe-inspiring. Brilliant!!!
