by Tony Wikrent Slouching toward denouement Capitulation Will Not Halt Trump’s Coup David Sirota, September 24, 2020 An important review of political events last week. Yoy may not agree with Sirota’s interpretation, but his analyses has proven correct repeatedly. Remember that Sirota accurately outlined the future course of American politics in his 2008 book […]

Kicking back at Conflucians Say

Hi all, we’re having another segment of Conflucians Say as often as we can until the convention.  Tonight, we kick things off at 10:00PM EST in order to accomodate all of you who don’t live in real time.  (Just kidding, Katiebird!)

We’re still raising funds for Denver.  If you’d like to help out, check out the contribution page at PUMAPac.  Our goal is to raise $10,000 by Sunday night in order to defray the costs of the PUMA Headquarters and Media Center in Denver.  These things don’t come cheap and let’s just say that some Denver residents became entrepreneurs over night in the real estate business.

Gary and Mawm got a great deal on a second hand RV and they’re planning to drive it to Denver.  They’re going to stop along the way and say Hi! to some of the Conflucians.  They’ve got a camera and they’re not afraid to use it.  We hope that the footage will be incorporated into The Audacity of Democracy.  But gas ain’t cheap and what do RV’s get in mileage?  Six gallons per mile or something like that?  So, if you want to help them on their big RV adventure, you can use the PayPal Donate button to send them on their merry way.

Of course, our lady, Hillary never turns down a contribution to help pay her small vendors from the primaries.  If you can spare a little more, make a contribution to her.

AND don’t forget her faithful companions in the House, Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Sheila Jackson Lee.  These two courageous women stared down their party on Hillary’s behalf.  If you have a bit more, I’m sure these two ladies would appreciate it in case Obama has rustled up primary challengers.

You can Donate to Gary and Mawm’s big adventure here:

  1. Too much talk of war for my mind and too frightening to think of countries even considering using nuclear weapons. What do you guys think is going on, why all the tough talk?

  2. Hi Riverdaughter. I will definitely be listening in. Can’t wait until the convention. I won’t be in Denver but I hope every PUMA who can take time off from work or school gets on a PUMA bus or buys a plane ticket to the convention. I want to see thousands of protesters on television!

  3. If I were as devious as Vladimir Putin I would let my eye roam over to the US and carefully calibrate my opposition. A moron who has less that 6 months in office, an old man, or an unqualified dupe. If I choose now to make a move, who is there to stop me? Seriously, anyone of these three? And the European Union who are the ones to be most affected by this invasion have never stood up to him. Fifty percent of the oil sent to Europe is through Russia. Our diplomacy has failed and they once again are on the move over there. So take your pick: Bush, McCain, Obama. I vote none of the above.

  4. RD, did you see Kos’s post? He claims the conference was a bunch of LaRouche anti-semites. What a pig.

  5. Yup, that is part of the ‘Obama Camp Swooner’s’ Smear! Do you have a link?

  6. Kos=Pig

  7. And yet, Tom McMahon needs our help on Obama’s rapid response team to stop the smears! On, yeah, and send money, too.

  8. So Pig, which of the three little pigs are you?

  9. Send out for another case of Troll-B-Gone.

  10. WigWag, don’t go disparaging The Three Little Pigs!

  11. hey everyone, I just noticed, this is the 1000th post on The Confluence!!!! Congrats Riverdaughter. …so that’s roughly 2000 views per post….not bad!!!

  12. I have a feeling that our liittle troll pig has a house made of straw or sticks. This PUMA will be happy to huff and puff and blow his house down

  13. Oink oink, baby!

  14. Just caught a blip of the news – apparently our illustrious DNC leader has his butt in the line of fire today because of a racial comment he made. Gee, it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. And you have to love when karma comes about due to someone’s own big mouth.

  15. does anyone have a link to the Lou Dobbs/Dean thing? i thought I saw it earlier..

  16. I’m sure we all read that Barry is moving into the convention on such an upswing in the polls. What momentum!! 44 to 44. Wow. If the RV comes through Ohio stop by Akron.

  17. They posted the link on Talk Left.

  18. Mawm– are you still here? We need your voice!

Gary– Are you coming on the show too?

Anyone who wants to, please call in. Carol, SM, Pat, Masslib, Karolina? What do you say?

  19. I couldn’t find a link, but did find the quote he said on NPR today:

“If you look at folks of color, even women, they’re more successful in the Democratic party than they are in the white, uh, excuse me, in the [laughs] Republican party.”

This is probably old news to you folks as you are all over it every day.

So, what is up with the tough talk and all the more reason to have Hillary as our nominee…

  21. Funny how he says, “…even women…”

    We’re such a second thought.

  22. masslib: I was afraid of that. Here’s the scoop on the PUMA conference. We are all procrastinators, or at least *I* am. So when the Marriott Wardham offer came up, people waited, which was unfortunate because the contract had to be signed in a very short period of time. What can I say, it’s summer. People are on vacation and a lot of them couldn’t afford the airfare. We always said that if you have to choose, go to Denver. But something else happened. One day I was checking the blog stats and I traced back a link to a faux Hillary site. A bunch of them were planning to sign up and cause havoc. I emailed the event planner with my info and we decided to find another venue. But we had to honor the people who already signed up. So those people were invited and the conference was closed.
THAT’S when people started to make plans to attend but we had to tell them it was too late. In the meantime, at least one Lyndon Larouche person attended the conference. I was not amused but then, I am only one person in this whole scheme of things.
Kos should know better. I’ve seen plenty of oddballs at YearlyKos. PLUS, he ususally has a year to plan while we had only a couple of weeks. Have we learned? Yup. Were we productive? Yup. Does the DNC still need to fear us? Yup. The people who attended were only the leaders of their merry bands. There are a lot of people behind those attendees.

  23. This won’t get Gary & Mawm far, but it’s a start —

I would so love to be going to Denver, but just can’t arrange it. I know *The Force of Many Spirits* will be with you!

  24. DisenfranchisedVoter,
I received Hillary’s email saying she wants us in Denver. I can’t make it but I’m looking forward to seeing PUMA en masse in Denver while I watch TV! Has there been a roll call here re: who’s going? (Sorry if I missed it, I haven’t been able to be here much lately.)

  25. Larouche people are everywhere. I’ve been to tons of Dem events and speeches and there is always at least one disruptive Larouche person. The best smack down was by Al Sharpton.

  26. I just went to TL, for the first time in a long time, to defend PUMAs . I don’t know why I bother, but if makes me feel strong. We need to be out there and to be part of the conversation. Get out there, let Gary, Mawn and RD be our role models. We need to be the ones that they did not expect.

  27. If a hack like Shuster gave such a tough interview to Will Bower and Darragh Murphy, it’s because this movement is being taken seriously– it’s something that could cost Democrats the White House in the year they “couldn’t lose.”

I wish they had brought up caucus fraud and phrases like “Chicago Machine Politics”, because these words automatically conjure up images of fraud, voting “early and often,” dead people voting, that sort of thing.

The greater the hatred and frustration expressed by trolls, the greater is the threat to Obama from this movement.
I wonder if they don’t see the election slipping away.

  28. The LaRouche people also showed up at the Lamont events. No biggie. And, who cares how many people attended. Tons of us who didn’t were out here waiting for reports. Throwing together a productive conference is a good thing. Why does he care?

  29. riverdaughter, you should be proud of all that you’ve done. You’ve given a voice to us lost souls, and along the way, we learn things. Just this week, we learned (or we surmised) that our donation of even a penny will add to the donor number that the O campaign likes to flaunt. Suffice it to say, when I opened my DNC and Obama mail today (christ – both in one day?!), I did NOT send back a penny. Instead, I wrote -0- in the ‘other’ amount slot. Oh, and for the O mailing, I added a big N in front of Obama 08.

Ah, the little things in life.

  30. We’re having cocktails, too….

Failure is Impossible: The Abigail Adams Show is Friday August 15, 7:30 PM

Pour yourself a Pink Puma or iced coffee. Stay awhile, call in a talk. These are historic times. This is a new era and failure is impossible.

There are many parallels between the fight for suffrage and the fight we are in today. We are now 11 days before Senator Hillary Clinton will speak in Denver on August 26th. It will be the 88th Anniversary of the women’s right to vote. It will be Women’s Equality Day. We stand on platform of this struggle as we fight our own.

  31. That’s Pacific Coast time…..

  32. Howard Dean on the Republican “white” party:

  33. I was at the conf…and I DO NOT follow La Rouche!
    Take that Kos Kook!

  34. http://www.tmz.com/2008/08/15/billary-supporter-hos-before-bros/

Have you all seen this clip of Bill and Hill posted at tmz today? I am not exactly sure when it was taken, but I thought it was pretty funny. You just know Bill wanted to say something…

  35. I pulled the cable plug in a rage right before the state primary, but in the clip I saw, when Will says his numbers show Hillary won the popular vote, Shuster snaps, “Your numbers are wrong.”

How’s that for respect & integrity? He didn’t say well, where did you get your numbers or this is our source, just smacked ’em down. News people know better; this was meant to be a smackdown & he was too personally invested to hide his glee.

  36. I think everyone that was there and took the time and effort, spent their dimes etc… deserves a shout out! As to the ‘Obama Camp Smear’ people, you are not looking too good! So, has the ‘official’ Obama site taken down the blog advocating genocide that went up on August 4th?

I dare KOS to do a story about that one or to find out who that loyal Obama supporter is.

  37. why are the fundraising numbers not out yet??? i read somewhere that Mac Daddy had released his.(27m)…..any info??

  38. good evening everyone! Hey Gary and Mawm, where are you going to park that rv in Denver? I am housing about 20 pumas, you can park there if you like. If you have room, I am sure we can get donations if you drive some of them to the puma events lol, and if not you can still park there.

  39. wow, that’s nice prplvette. we haven’t figured that out yet actually. Do you mind if I email you at the address you have on here?

  40. and thanks to anyone else who donates….i’m humbled by you all.

  41. No not at all. Glad to help.

  42. I’ll be glad to help as well with signs or banners or decals …. just let me know and can donate them. Wish I could go.

  43. Indigogrrl: They can release the number from last months up to August 20th, when they legally must be released. Until then it’s up to them.

  44. so mccains number is probably just rumor at this point

  45. Indigogrrl: It probably is his number. What I’m saying is that all th campaigns are not required to release their numbers at once. McCain’s could be out but Hillary’s not because they haven’t released them yet.

  46. McCain/RNC fundraising numbers: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080815/ap_on_el_pr/campaign_money;_ylt=AsxIQ2q3l_11pkrEYtXrnv6s0NUE
“McCain raised $27 million in July, his largest one-month fundraising haul since clinching the GOP presidential nomination, and had $21 million available to spend, while the RNC brought in nearly $26 million, and had $75 million on hand to compete with the Democrats.”

  47. Hi abigailadams. I just bookmarked your site and I will listen to your podcast show tonight. Thanks for contributing to the movement.

  48. Is Christina back?

  49. Youza, how does Riverdaughter do this every night?

  50. Hi Katiebird,

That wasn’t too bad. We will improve with practice.

  51. 🙂 I think I need a stronger cell phone battery though….

  52. Guys – thanks for having me be part of this wonderful community – happy 1,000th Conflucian post!!!!!!!!!!!

  53. BB, did you see that TalkLeft thing about us PUMAs being nuts?

  54. Prolix, you here?

Gee, but the KY Dem Party looks almost as stupid as it actually is. If you’re going to try & steal a Hillary Delegate & replace him with an Obot Delegate, the state of KY doesn’t seem like a good place to try it. Except for the 2 metros, the state just friggin belongs to either Clinton.

Saw on the blog PageOneKentucky that their source at the DNC admits this is a legitimate gripe. Duh! Ya think? Me, I’m so proud of those 20 delegates I could bust a gut.

  55. Katiebird,

Is it the one by BTD? I haven’t read it yet.

  56. BB, yes. He thinks we’re crazy.

  57. KB,

BTD is silly. What does he know? Hey remember when he posted some comments here? He didn’t think we were so stupid then–or when we were commenting at TL. He’s nearly as blind as the rest of the ObamaNation.

  58. I couldn’t possibly care less what BTD thinks of us. I’ve made my choice. I’m standing for what I believe in. I’m not going to vote for someone I don’t think is qualified to be President and who I think is a crook and a con man.

  59. Here’s the quote:

Kos wrote a mocking post about the crumbling PUMA movement. I happen to think the PUMA movement is nuts. But these are just citizens and voters expressing their views, however wayward and stupid I may think them. What really amazes me is the anti-PUMAs, those erstwhile Obama supporters who are attacking Obama for making unity noises with Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Leading the charge of course is the foolish and harmful Andrew “Bell Curve” Sullivan, along with the usual Clinton haters in the the Media, with MoDo playing her usual fool’s role. Sullivan writes:

The total capitulation to the Clintons at the convention is particularly lame[.]
This is nuts. Having the last Democratic President, a two termer at that and still incredibly popular President and the Dem Senator from New York, who won half of the vote in the Democratic primaries, speak at the Democratic Convention is capitulation? Hatred is blinding. And when you could not see well in the first place, the Mr. Magoo act gets to be very serious. For people like Sullivan, hating the Clintons trumps all. They are at least as silly as the PUMAs.

By Big Tent Democrat, speaking for me only

  60. The Talk Left comments are critiquing BTD, nicely of course.

  61. PofEd,

Yes, I saw the article. To screw up the correction to the original screw up is quite a feat and I mean that in the most charitable way.

To find an Obanaut delegate I guess they either hung out at the Best Buy electronics department around the Playstation’s display or a convenience store where they still sell rolling papers.

To be called on gender equity in the delegation and then getting the gender correct, but the candidate affiliation wrong is working overtime.

  62. SM,

You’re right. The comments are mostly supportive of us. Is that what you meant Katiebird?

  63. The biggest lie is that we are all voting for McCain. But that is just the argument they use to make themselves feel better for voting for a sellout con man.

  64. would anyone expect mitt romney if it the same position to vote for his opponent at the convention?

  65. Hey everyone – come upstairs, the weather’s fine!

  66. BB: Of course, we all aren’t voting for McCain; some will sit home, or write-in Hillary or go Barr, Nader or McKinney, some will vote McCain, IF Hillary is not the nominee. We would knock the others down in a heap to vote Hillary.

But, their argument is crap. Obama is crap, and the DNC is crap for cheating to help this doofus of a candidate. No one is going to make me feel guilty about how I vote this year; all the DNC had to do was conduct normal vetting, and allow a fair and normal primary. They didn’t, so they can live with the consequences.

  67. No, BB — I didn’t read the comments I was so disgusted by his post.

  68. I voted for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the primaries as did my wife. Now, we will vote for Sen. Barack Obama for President in the general election. I believe it’s foolish for anyone, who cares about our Country and the Democratic Party, to vote for John McSame or stay home because that does not accomplish a thing. Rather, it plays into the hands of those, who’ve succeeded in virtually destroying our country. This is sort of like the old saying of cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face. It makes absolutely no sense.

  69. cali, why do you think you are helping by coming here and callling people foolish. Seems like it is YOUR tactics which are foolish
