Week-end Wrap – Political Economy – January 29, 2023 by Tony Wikrent   Altercation: Goodbye and Thanks Eric Alterman, January 27, 2023 [The American Prospect] The key question I want to leave people with is this: Given the lack of guardrails, how far are these people willing to go? Trump is as popular as he was before January 6th and has been invited back on […]

PUMA Cocktail Party: The Year of the Cat

Hey there PUMAs, tonight we kick off the new cocktail party. For thse of you new to The Confluence, the Clinton Cocktail Parties are an old tradition. But now that we are PUMAs, we need to put a little space between us and Hillary. She needs to do what she needs to do and we need to take on the DNC. But for those of you who want to help her out so she doesn’t have to humiliate herself in the name of Shmoonity anymore, I have a suggestion. But before i get to that, I’d like to say a few words of praise for Hillary.

A couple of months ago, about the time that the Not Going to Take it Anymore/BITCH video came out, I wrote a snippet about how Hillary didn’t start out to win the WH for women but that whether she liked it or not, she was now carrying the weight of half of the US population around on her back. She assumed a burden for us. It became her responsibility to carry that ball as far down the field as she could on behalf of all American women. And, my Goddess, Conflucians, did she ever. She poured her heart, soul and fortune into it for us. Have we or will we ever see the like again in our lifetimes? I will always be eternally grateful for everything Hillary has done for me and my daughters.

And my friends, we owe it to her to cut short the dog and pony show that the DNC and the OBama campaign is putting her through in order to persuade his donors to help her pay off her campaign debt. Hillary put more than $10 million of her own money into her campaign. She considers that an investment. But there is still more than $10 million in outstanding debt to her vendors. We can thank the Big Boyz for suppressing some of the donors on her behalf. Let’s get even, PUMAs.

Here’s the plan: If 10% of Hillary’s 18 million voters donated $2 each, she’d be debt free in very short order. But let’s say that 1.8 million people don’t read blogs. Let’s say that only half of that have friends and relatives that read blogs. Heck, let’s make it 500,000. If 500,000 of us contribute $20 each, she will be debt free before the end of the week. But let’s say that even that number is too high, let’s make it, 300,000, the approximate number of popular votes that she beat Obama by. If there are 300,000 voters who read blogs or know someone who reads blogs and can recruit them, all they need to do is donate about $35 to Hillary’s campaign to make sure she never has to sit next to Obama on his campaign plane. For a little more than $1 in a 30 day month, you can free a wonderful presidential leader from having to put up with Obama’s droning ahhhhs and ummmmms during interminable campaign speeches. You can save her from his juvenile and arrogant behavior. you can put her in much better company.

Just think of it: $35 dollars, less than a tank of gas, is all it would take if 300,000 of us donated to pay off her debt and free her from the indebted servitude to Obama and Donna effing Brazile. Contribute here.

Welcome to the PUMA cocktail party! This is the time of the week where we take a load off and put our latest kill away to finish later. The bar is to the left of the door. Our favorite bartender Rico has signed on for the duration of the PUMA movement. Rico has flair and is a Clintonista through and through. We’re so glad to see him back. Tonight, his special drink is a Hep Cat but you can order anything your heart desires.

Our entertainment this evening is an oldie but goodie. Al Stewart had a string of hits in the late seventies and early eighties. I’d love to track down his version of The Road Goes to Riyahd on iTunes but so far, I can’t find it. But here is the one song I always associate with him, an edgy, mysterious, pensive song about a woman “in a silk dress running like a watercolor in the rain”. Enjoy!

PUMAs, we love to talk here. It’s that kind of party. But trigger words are best left for other blogs so please consider leaving them with our lovely checkroom attendant, Florence. The waiters will be circulating with mushrooms stuffed with crab, chicken sate with peanut sauce and golden potato slices with cilantro chutney. Please drink responsibly and tip your wait staff generously.

  1. Rico, I’ll have some iced green tea. Gotta get skinny for the week after the 4th. It’s vacay at the shore!

  2. THe PUMA High Priestess opened the bar up again! Yippee!

Hey Flo & Rico, long time no see!

PUMA cocktail with a Silver Patron – I may dance on the tables tonight.

    We Love You Senator Clinton!

    Someone please match or Increase!

  4. Riverdaughter–Amen, sister. You got it. I’m whipping out the plastic and giving her a hundred. And thanks for the Al Stewart. LOVED that song and album back in the day.

  5. I’ll have the mushrooms and the white wine.
I’m in on both retiring the debt and putting some distance from Hillary
I have done it some time ago. In fact a poster here put it best when talking about “single life feeling great – and I know she’ll be
back as she still loves me”
Until that time in the future, we need to follow our own guiding
principles – and not let any ambiguous HOUNDS detract us.

  6. Come on – where is everyone.

    Match or Increase my contribution!

  7. I’m drinking ice tea. It’s pre-cocktail hour on the West Coast. Have some
work I need to do, which involves writing so I won’t be able to listen
to Hillary reading “Living History” (audible book). Hillary won a Grammy for reading “It Takes a Village” so BO isn’t the only “rock star” on the ballot in Denver.

BTW, if Hillary is NOT on the ballot, this is a totally different game.

  8. Come on – donate first and then kick back!

  10. Wish I could, but I’ve been maxed out for the primary for months.

I think Hillary has been a champion for women all her life. That is one of the reasons — in fact, maybe the biggest reason — she and Bill have been a target for such hate.

She is THE symbol of the womens movement, and she doesn’t apologize for it.

  11. Carol- I’ve matched your donation.

Wow, that felt so great! May she never have to ride on his plane again.

  12. CB: Oh, I’m not giving up on the ballot thing. The only way the Democrats are going to win this year if she is in the top spot.

  13. Oh, I donated $100 last week. I was afraid that it might have gone
to BO. So far, I’ve received one very expensive mailing from
Obama for America in Chicago. (Unsubbed from Kerry, Edwards, MoveOn, Gore, DNC, Emily’s List, et. al. as soon as the Obama endorsements or Unity messages arrived
    in my In box.

For Obama’s snail mail direct marketing intrusion, I cut out my name, address, and
marketing code, and wrote NO BAMA on it multiple times and mailed it
back on Bama’s 41 cents—that’s my idea of “change” the Chicago

  14. I’m back. The plastic has been used. Thank Goddess I had a good week business-wise. Thanks for helping me get off my ass and put my money where my mouth is. Damn that felt good. Now it’s cosmo time.

  15. PUMA’s I’m heading out for some fresh kill, er, dinner. Be back in an hour. Keep the bar fights to a minimum.

  16. I’m in for retiring the debt. Since she’s not asking for her $$ back & she stayed in this for “us” it’s only right
to pitch in. Maybe we should do the $ ??.44 so she’ll know it’s from Hillsters & not you know who.
WOW, could you imagine if she’s “Financially Independent by Independence Day”!!
**This would also make it clear to the DNC, “we’re here to stay”!! I heard some are working on a similar thing for McCain; count me in on that as well!!
    Go PUMA!!

  17. Okay – donate and post the details!

Anyone not donating, will have to try and get past me!

    The bouncer’s on my side!

  18. CB–I’m in Florida. When I got my fundraising letter from Obama for America, I stuffed the prepaid envelope with one half of a torn check and the words Just Say No Deal-PUMA in the memorandum field. I immediately felt better.

  19. Hold the mushrooms and hand me one of those fresh killed possums, thanks.

  20. Carol, I couldn’t do the $50.00 this week, as I gave her $20.00 the week before last .

This week is my “getting ready to pay for July bills” week. So would you accept my 10% match to yours?

  21. Now that River Daughters out of the room, what about making
a paper mache image of her and carrying it on the streets of Denver?
    We could be the river.

BTW, there is a meetup in Oakland tomorrow to discuss the Million Woman March in Denver. It should be held on the anniversary
    of women’s right to vote.

August 26, 1920, when the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution became law, and women could vote in the fall elections, including in the Presidential election.

The DNC scheduled the Denver convention so that the keynote
address would be given on the 45th anniversary of MLK, Jr.’s “I Have
    a Dream Speech”–August 28, 1963. Coincidence, or was the
merger with Obama of America already in the works?

  30. chatblu – Good Job!

  31. Carol – thanks, I wish I had more to give today!

Keep up the work, you are motivating people here!

  32. I won the lottery in February. So to speak. After a FIFTEEN YEAR battle, the courts forced my daughter’s father AKA sperm donor to cough up his arrears. It had gotten into 5 figures. I have felt so incredibly FRUSTRATED by the whole deal I’ve gotten as a self-employed, (formerly) single parent. That’s why I have always looked to my fellow Democrats to keep me in sight and look out for me. Then THIS. Hillary, I’m going back and giving you ANOTHER $100. It’s the least I can do for what you’ve gone through this year and every other year. You and Bill were the only ones who gave a damn about me and my daughter. Thanks.

  33. For those who were are trying to shove the “Unity” horse manure down our throat, you have to listen to what is going on behind the scene.

The Obama campaign is fighting tooth and nail to keep HRC’s name off any type of ballot in Denver. Moreover, they want to reduce her presence as much as possible, where getting all the mileage they can get from her and possibly Bill.

It’s not secret that Obama had to be forced into making calls to his donors on behalf of Hillary, and that HRC’s big donors are still cold towards His Awesomeness.

Hillary’s side of the CBC (lead by Stephanie Tubb Jones and Sheila Jackson Lee) is still not that much into BO because of his arrogance.

    Unity shmunity!

  34. Because RD has left alone, some of our species has decided to have a little fun!

  35. Irlandese – we stick together behind you. Thanks so much for your contribution!

  36. I get paid again in two weeks and will send more, I promise. Remember the shmoos from little Abner? (Reallt dating myself!) Wonder if they are any relation to the shmoonity!

  37. MABlue, do you have inside information about him fighting to keep her off? I mean, I know, it is obvious he is doing this, but is there any more concrete information?

  38. Okay – who’s up to bat! We need some contributions for our next President Hillary Rodham Clinton!

  39. Irlandese, I raised my daughter with sporadic help from the ex. There is a special place in hell for them.

  40. Okay, I just gave another $50.00 and I will contact some friends and family and do some fund raising, too. Can I buy you a drink, RD? I having a tall cold one myself.

  41. Irlandese, WOW. I’m a single mom too, and I also am the unofficial “caretaker” of my mom who’s now on disability – she has major health problems and can’t work anymore as a community organizer (maybe she should run for president – hee hee!)

Anyway, reading your story was like looking in a mirror -except the lottery part (although ya never know!)

Congrats to you & your PUMA Cub!

Rico, I’m feeling my Dominican roots, a “Mama Juana” shot for everybody!

    ¡Que viva Hillary!

For those that want more info on what’s a “Mama Juana” – here’s a Wikipedia entry:

Mama Juana is a drink from the Dominican Republic that is concocted by allowing rum, red wine, and honey to soak in a bottle with tree bark and herbs[1]. The taste is quite similar to port wine and the color is a deep red. It is seen and advertised as an aphrodisiac, with many natives of the Dominican Republic claiming that the drink has similar effects to Viagra.

Basically, Mama Juana is a mixture of bark and herbs left to soak in rum (most often dark rum but the use of white rum is not uncommon), red wine and honey. The solid ingredients (local leaves, sticks and roots) vary from region to region but usually include some of the following:

    – Anamú
    – Bohuco
    – Brasil
    – Canelilla
    – Caro
    – Marabeli
    – Clavo Dulce
    – Hoja de Maguey

In addition to the above standard recipe, it is common for individuals to add other ingredients such as cinnamon, raisins, molasses, and lemon or lime juice. The concoction is usually kept at room temperature and served in a shot glass. As with many other alchoholic drinks the longer the maker lets it sit the better it tastes.

  42. Good evening, Pumas.

It’s a hot sultry evening. Passions are bubbling.

I think I’ll stick to sparkling water, just in case.

  43. This ones for you Carol:

    DATE: June 28, 2008 8:10 PM CDT
    NAME: Bonita
    AMOUNT: $50.00

  44. Speaking of Passions – this is how some of us used to spend our Saturday nights.

  45. Thank you Bonita.

Enjoy the video I just posted. It is really sweet.

  46. I’m not good at pasting and cutting, but contribution details are as follows: June 28, 2008 at 7:38 AND 8:02 PM CDT. Thanks, Carol and chatblu. Yes, I don’t waste my time cursing him to hell. He’s already there. My daughter, however, is a decent human being who is a credit to her gender.

  47. Love the New Just Say No Deal/PUMA clip … wicked good!!!

  48. That’s why we need to stick with Hillary — She’s still fighting.

  49. Delicioso! I love my Mama Juana, gracias.

  50. My daughter also. We were very fortunate.

  51. Irlandese – Isn’t it amazing that we are single mother’s that raised or are raising our children by ourselves! I bet they don’t grow up like BO and complain about it.

God Bless All of the Parents that have raised their children. It’s never too late if you missed the first boat!

  52. I too was a single Mom, raising 4 kids while ex chased snow bunnies all over the ski slolpes. But that is in the past and I am now able to donate 10.00 weekly to help Hillary pay down the debt. I know what it was like being behind the 8 ball for a long time.

So raising my Cosmo to Hillary and the wonderful way she has conducted herself, her campaign, and has solidified her supporters, salud!

  53. Carol, I hear you. I would have felt much better about BO had I heard more of the mother and grandparents who raised him and less of the father who bailed.;

  54. I donated $50.44 in honor of gary and MAWM and all they’re doing. It’s inspiring.

SM, I’d love a Mama Juana shot.

  55. Okay – time for the next round!

Who is going to donate? This is for Hillary!

Pony up now or they will make us Unity Pony later!

  56. Today my mom said something about women being stronger than men. She said that only the toughest women survived giving birth. Men “don’t have to put their lives on the line to be fathers.”

My mom is 82, and the mother of nine.

She also says Obama is too tired to be president, too inexperienced, and that his followers are like “cult members.”

I salute the bravery of women giving birth. I salute the bravery of single mothers. I salute the fabulousness of the PUMAs.

    Go Puma

  57. chatblu,

i thought so, too. that was one of the many things that creeped me out about BO. also one of the many things that lead me to believe his misogyny is deep and not just a campaign tactic.

  58. Thanks Sassy!

    Who’s next – Sassy needs a match $50.44 or who’s got $100.44?

  59. Rico darling, another round of Mama Juana’s for everyone!

Double shots for the single moms!

  60. Isn’t it one of the many wonderful AUTHENTIC things about Bill? Now that guy had REAL experience being raised by a single Mom, not this BS story from BO. He and Hillary knew and cared what happened to single parents because they had some EMPATHY. I think that children raised by single parents get an idea of how difficult life can be at an early age. Hasn’t hurt mine a bit. She just knows she’s gotta work harder for it, because that’s what she saw me do.

  61. Amen!

  62. Some clever person on No Quarter said that Obama had his rally in Unity, NH because Misogyny NH was already booked.

    Pretty funny, I thot.

  63. Arabella Trefoil, on June 28th, 2008 at 8:25 pm Said:

“Men “don’t have to put their lives on the line to be fathers.”

AMEN!!! Wow, that is some truth & wisdom wrapped up in a knuckle sandwich.

Rico, a Mama Juana for Mama Trefoil!

  64. Ya are making me work too hard!

I have carpal tunnel and repetitive use injury!

    Save my hands!

    Donate, Donate, Donate!

  65. Riverdaughter,

I just sent $50.00, a little extra just in case. I hope you are right and she can stop stomping for Obama if her debt is paid.

  66. Isn’t Heidi Li doing matching donations?

  67. If Hillary does not release her delegates and does not accept a nomination for vice president, Obama cannot be elected and we can look forward to 2012.

  68. NH – good job!

Have a cool drink and a dance!

  69. Tim, Tim, Tim.

    No, No, No.

    We are stopping BO now.

    President Hillary Rodham Clinton 2008

  70. “Men “don’t have to put their lives on the line to be fathers.”

    Fine, be that way.

  71. UpstateNY – we love you.

Hillary loves you. Bill loves you.

  72. Long day. I’m pinching myself to stay awake.

Aren’t gary and mawm awesome? Who needs the TV?

We are making the news and we are reporting the news. We don’t need no steeenking MSM.

  73. But does O love me?

  74. Irlandese, Obama hated his mother for “abandoning” him whle he idealized his father – who was the one who really abandoned him.

    Too much psychodrama like Dubya.

  75. Carol, sorry I’m on Social Security and am pretty broke until the 3rd. I’ll send another $25.00 then as I did on payday every month beginning in January. I know it ain’t much, but honey it’s all I’ve got. And I’ve just been going to the library more instead of buying my monthly treat of books from Amazon.

Well worth it to be if she can distance herself from that poser.

  76. “Men “don’t have to put their lives on the line to be fathers.”

Now. now – that’s my 82 year-old mother talking. She’s a Lithuanian who grew up in Chicago. She speaks her mind.

And if Mama Trefoil says Obama is too tired to be president, he is not qualiifed to be CIC. (Also he has “bad posture”)

I salute the men of PUMA.

  77. I just contributed, but I couldn’t match the 50.44. I don’t get paid for another 2 weeks. Can I still come in and chat?

  78. Okay – I’m counting $630.44 without leslie’s number.

Leslie, come on in and relax. So, that I can keep total, how much if you don’t mind?

    kenoshaMarge – you are beautiful!

  79. A donation of 20.08 by independence day was suggested (i think on PUMA sight) and am in process of balancing ck book or taking out plastic to donate in memory of my grandmother who taught her daughters they could do anything they wanted and my very independent mom who stood in line with heart failure to vote AGAINST the first Bush and am making a list of other strong women in my life who have inspired me, much as Hillary has done since she and Bill first hit the national scene at the Convention in 1988. Am hoping to be able to multiply the donation by the number on the list when it is complete.

    Will be back later.

  80. I’m maxed out but I snuck in $35 in my husband’s name:

    DATE: June 28, 2008 8:33 PM CDT
    NAME: Daniel xxxxx
    ADDRESS: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    McKinney, TX 75070
    AMOUNT: $35.00

  81. UpstateNY – O loves O. Bill and Hill love everyone.

  82. Leslie, We do the best that we can.

  83. Carol, heh.

  84. kenoshaMarge

my brother and mom live on social security. i always cringe when people say things like “it’s the same as a ($5) cup of coffee every day”. i know that even $5 is a lot of money and if you have to get new meds or your kid gets sick or needs shoes or something, that can completely blow your budget for months and months. i was broke all the time too until my disability came through. (it took about 5 years.) thanks for making a contribution. i know that means a lot if you’re on a limited budget.

  85. I doubt Obama “idealized” his father. He only saw him a few times during his entire life. Whatever he wrote about him in that book was probably nothing more than pandering to his black constituency since he was raised in a mostly white environment.

If he has deep seated resentments they probably are more aimed at the mother since it appears that she remarried while he was still very little and had another child by this husband. She sent him back to the grandparents when he was only 10 years old and she remained in Indonesia. This is a child who had to adjust fairly quickly to whatever path his mother kept choosing to follow.

The other point he misconstrues to is advantage is the “food stamp”issue. His mother already had earned her degree which made it possible to begin earning. She chose to pursue a Masters degree and took the year off to study for it and that is when they went on food stamps. He would have you believe that times were so tough they had no other choice. Not true.

MABlue, do you have inside information about him fighting to keep her off? I mean, I know, it is obvious he is doing this, but is there any more concrete information?

I have from pretty solid sources that it is the major fight the Obama campaign has undertaken in this “Unity” crappola.
I think the DNC will come up with some ad hoc resolution to take off Hillary’s name, which they can because they make the rules as they see fit. The Obama doesn’t want the Clintons supporters to form some sort of bloc or ant type of visible camp at the convention.

  87. Phala in NC – thank you very much – from the King! Let us know the total if you please!

  88. Today I was caught in a really awful storm. It blew down tents and destroyed entire art collections (at an annual art fair here). We had to run into a book store for cover. There were hundreds who converged on the store in only a few minutes. From our shelter, we watched the real and unpredictable destruction of summer storms. When I turned around to check out the books, I saw this quote and immediately said ‘Hey,
    this sounds like Barky:
“I’m a man of principles. If you don’t like one, I have others for you to choose from.” (groucho marx)

  89. Jmac – I’m sure he intended to give.

    You are beautiful!

  90. $25.44 is all I could come up with today.

  91. Mama Trefoil comments on Unity rally/

“Look at him schlumped down on that stool. Horrible. I told you he was too tired. tcha. He’s falling asleep.”

Long pause while masticating potato salad.

“Is that tie on purpose? Oh. He’s matchy-matchy with Hillary. Ridiculous.”

    Eats pickle.

“He’s too scared to stand up on the stage next to Hillary. He’s probably shorter than she is.”

Spending Saturdays visiting my mom has more pluses than minuses.

    Thanks so much!

  93. It is being reported that Bill has said, “Obama can kiss my ass”. This sounds like the Bill we all know and love!!!

  94. Just got notice my stimulus irs money is on the way:

Put me down for a fifty..I can understand why after reading what riverdaughter said. Now, I GET IT! (takes a while sometimes!)

I’ll call it my cigarette money. My mother used to say that, but she didn’t smoke. ha ha

  95. Arabella: Your Mom is a sketch!

  96. Okay, I’m counting $689.88.

I have to leave at 8:00!

Can we get it to $1000 by then?

Think of our Hillary having to sit across from Chris Matthews and explain! That should make you look under the cushions and look for change in the parking lot!

  97. Pat Johnson – She’s something, all right. So are her sisters:

My mom is in the middle.

  98. Pat, was that comment on Bill snark?

  99. Not Bitter has given up cigarettes and is contributing her gift from President George!

    That brings us to $739.88!

Who else is going to pony up now or join the Unity Pony?

  100. It is no longer raining and it is getting dusky. So before it gets too late, I’m taking my walk to the store. I hope we reach many, many $$ for Hillary tonight by the time I get back.

I can’t tell you what strength I garner from all you Conflucians… I’ll check in, in a bit.

  101. leslie – look for change on the ground!

  102. Upstate: Absolutely not a snark. When Bill gets mad Bill gets mad! Obama has tried to tarnish both his reputation and his legacy with the racist taunts. So if Bill says that Obama “can kiss my ass” I say good! That is the Bill we all know and love.

  103. Date: June 28, 2008 8:49 PM CDT

    Who has $260.12?

  105. Arabella, is the Talaxian in you from your mom’s side? They look so happy in that video.

  109. 5 minutes – don’t disappoint me!

  110. The band is looking bored! They are going to pack up the instruments and leave!

  111. Arabella; That was sweet. My son in law has a large Polish family and yours reminded me of them when they get together. Hellraisers! And love a good time!

  113. Please – I’m begging! $240.12

    3 minutes!

  114. No, no, Pat, I meant the kiss my ass part.

  115. Pat – My cousin is getting married in October. It’s going to be in Chicago. It should be a blast!

    Puma party!

  116. It is being reported that Bill has said, “Obama can kiss my ass”.

  117. Upstate: He is supposed to have said it to one of his aides. Makes sense. Why should he walk across the street for Obama? He owes him zip.

  118. Yeah Bill. Thanks Pat.

  119. If Obama was on fire, Bill wouldn’t take the time to piss on him.

  120. Arabella: My son in laws folks still make their own “juice”. We each get a bottle or two. It will knock you on your butt after two drinks. I have to cut it with Sprite but they drink it like it was water.

  121. In 91 minutes we posted $759.88!

Please keep it going. I have to leave for now!

    Donate, Donate, Donate……………

  122. Well said, Bill. I guess he’s had about enough.

  123. Thanks everyone!

  124. Wonder if any of the Sunday morning talk shows will bring up the shady Chicago revelations that the Boston Globe dug up. This stuff must be known far and wide in Chicago itself and yet it took a Boston paper to report it? Very interesting.

  125. I’m baaaack! Did anybody miss me?

  126. Wonder if any of the Sunday morning talk shows will bring up the shady Chicago revelations that the Boston Globe dug up. This stuff must be known far and wide in Chicago itself and yet it took a Boston paper to report it? Very interesting.

  127. I hope the CONFLUENCE, PUMA, JUST SAY NO DEAL, etc. . get credit for taking care of Hillary’s debt.

  128. Pat, he owes him a swift kick in the %$#@ after everything he’s done and said to/about both he and his wife.

  129. Arabella, your mom’s a hoot! matchy-matchy – lol!!!!

I enjoyed the video. that chicken song’s in my head now. your family get-togethers must be a lot of fun!!

  130. omg, carol! You’re a riot. Hillary would be as rich as Bill Gates if you’d started earlier.

Bill Clinton says Barack Obama must ‘kiss my ass’ for his support

By Tim Shipman in Washington and Philip Sherwell in New York

    Last Updated: 11:23PM BST 28/06/2008

Bill Clinton is so bitter about Barack Obama’s victory over his wife Hillary that he has told friends the Democratic nominee will have to beg for his wholehearted support.

Mr Obama is expected to speak to Mr Clinton for the first time since he won the nomination in the next few days, but campaign insiders say that the former president’s future campaign role is a “sticking point” in peace talks with Mrs Clinton’s aides.

The Telegraph has learned that the former president’s rage is still so great that even loyal allies are shocked by his patronising attitude to Mr Obama, and believe that he risks damaging his own reputation by his intransigence.

A senior Democrat who worked for Mr Clinton has revealed that he recently told friends Mr Obama could “kiss my ass” in return for his support.

A second source said that the former president has kept his distance because he still does not believe Mr Obama can win the election.

Mr Clinton last week issued a tepid statement, through a spokesman, in which he said he “is obviously committed to doing whatever he can and is asked to do to ensure Senator Obama is the next president of the United States “.

Mr Obama was more effusive at his unity event with Mrs Clinton on Friday, speaking fondly of the absent former president, who attended Nelson Mandela’s birthday celebrations in London instead. The candidate told the crowd: “I know how much we need both Bill and Hillary Clinton as a party. They have done so much great work. We need them badly.”

But his aides said he has so far concentrated on cementing relations with Mrs Clinton first. They say they are content to let relations with Mr Clinton thaw gradually.

It has long been known that Mr Clinton is angry at the way his own reputation was tarnished during the primary battle when several of his comments were interpreted as racist.

But his lingering fury has shocked his friends. The Democrat told the Telegraph: “He’s been angry for a while. But everyone thought he would get over it. He hasn’t. I’ve spoken to a couple of people who he’s been in contact with and he is mad as hell.

“He’s saying he’s not going to reach out, that Obama has to come to him. One person told me that Bill said Obama would have to quote kiss my ass close quote, if he wants his support.

“You can’t talk like that about Obama – he’s the nominee of your party, not some house boy you can order around.

“Hillary’s just getting on with it and so should Bill.”

Another Democrat said that despite polls showing Mr Obama with a healthy lead over Republican John McCain, Mr Clinton doesn’t think he can win.

The party strategist, who was allied to one of the early rivals to Mr Obama and the former First Lady, said Mr Clinton was “very unhopeful” about the nominee’s prospects in November.

“Bill Clinton knows the party will unite behind Obama, but he is telling people he doesn’t believe Obama can win round voting groups, especially working-class whites, in the swing states,” the strategist said.

“He just doesn’t think Obama will be able to connect with the voters he needs.”

Joe Klein, the author of Primary Colours, a fictionalised account of Mr Clinton’s 1992 election, who has known the former president for 20 years, said he also heard that he was “very, very bitter”, from people who have spoken with him.

“It’s time for him to get over it or go off and do his charitable work. He knows the rules of the road. What’s going on now is kind of strange. I think his behaviour is really, really shocking.”

A double Mama Juana shot for President BIll “PUMA Lion” Clinton!!

  132. • Violated party rules requiring that delegates be “bona fide Democrats who are faithful to the interests, welfare and success of the Democratic Party of the United States.”

hello? does this mean that we can unseat Howard and Donna?

  133. Did anybody catch Diane on the CBS Evening News tonight? She spoke on behalf of the PUMA movement.

Then some talking head poo pooed it by saying that between now and November we will all come home to Obama since we have no other option than McCain.

And I cancelled yet another mag subscription today. The Progressive was boosting Obama and several reports in this month’s issue totally bashed Hillary. Another on down the drain. I am now only getting People and Entertainment Weekly. The mailman is thrilled.

  134. LOL! Kiki, that is an excellent question. Throw Obama into that mix as well. Everytime he disses Hillary, McCain looks a little cuter.

  135. Pat – I din’t catch Diane’s interview – I hope there’s a YouTUbe around for it.

Riverdaughter – welcome back! How was Dinner?

Arabella, your family reminds me of mine, except we merengue & salsa & bachata dance.

The Elder priestesses of our families deserve a shot – Rico, for the mamas, Mama Juana!

  136. Just put in $50.00 It is more than I can afford. But I can afford Obama much, much less or a hijacked Dem. party. Got several e-mail solicitations from Kerry, etc. marked them as spam. My cat is supplied for the next three weeks. GO PUMA. So glad you are doing this. I hope we can get Hillary off the O bus. Have a good weekend everyone.

  137. Way to go felizarte!

  138. They embarrass easily. It’s a far cry from “I feel like voting for John McCain” to “I’m supporting or I’m endorsing John McCain”. Shows just how scared DNC is/was of mutiny!

I thought superdelegates couldn’t endorse until the convention.

  139. Riverdaughter–what’s your take on people posting on the DNC website that Murphy donated to McClain in ’00? They’re trying to make PUMA’s look like suckers over there–“bunch of hillcrats” and “sore losers”. None of the links they’re providing seem like any real proof to me. But she needs to know. Obama’s feeling a little threatened, maybe?

  141. Bill Clinton does not “owe” the party one damned thing. They stood by and let this No Nothing trash both Clinton’s and those AA super delegates like Clyburn allowed him to be branded a racist just for the sake of a few votes.

Since he left office he has devoted hours of his time to assisting the AIDS effort in Africa and works jointly with Papa Bush as an ambassador to the world on behalf of the US. Obama cannot hold a candle to the contributions these two have made on behalf of public service and the besmirching of that legacy cannot be overlooked.

Bill is not running for president. Let them drag Edwards or Gore onto the stage and stop pestering Bill to “make nice”.
He should not have to bend a knee to satisfy the party. He has paid his debt.

  142. Just over a the Orange Satan just to see if I could – for fun – examine some vermin in the initial throes of Obama Reality Syndrome and picked this up:

I sense that this kind of purging is going on in each state. Sad. I think we can stop hoping against hope that the delegates will come out for HRC at the convention.

    DATE: June 24, 2008 11:46 PM CDT
    AMOUNT: $20.08

  144. “Hillary’s side of the CBC (lead by Stephanie Tubb Jones and Sheila Jackson Lee) is still not that much into BO because of his arrogance.”

What do you want to be they’re going to get primaried? Obama and Dean and teh rest of tehm, drunk on power with their hands on the levers, going to get ugly.

“You can’t talk like that about Obama – he’s the nominee of your party, not some house boy you can order around.”

WTF is wrong with these people? He’s not ordering Obama around, quite he opposite actually. Obama can’t snap his fingers and have everybody crawl. If Obama thinks asking people for their support or treating them with anything but utter contempt is so demeaning, he kind of picked the wrong business.

Memo to author of piece: Neither Obama nor his supporters nor anyone can talk that way about Clinton, the freaking PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Yes, as the possible nominee, Obama is owed complete deference bordering on worship, but neither the President nor the other possible nominee is owed even minimal respect. Okay then.

  145. Thank you felizarte – you are wonderful!

Who wants to match the $50 felizarte contributed to the cause?

    Come on!

  146. I sent another $50 to Hillary a couple days ago in response to her email. That’s $200. since she suspended. I wish I could send more…but, I want to say thank you to all the Pumas out there working to make a difference!!!! I love you Pumas.

  147. Dances wants no part of the pony or oppossum!

    Thanks so much.

    We are up to $909.88!

  148. Cate needs a match!

Cate have a drink and relax!

  149. Good night, dear Conflucians.

    Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles awake you when you rise

  150. oops…I see you guys are already on the Wisconsin thing….should have read all the upthread posts…sorry to take up space.

  151. I clicked on the NY Times to get the Sunday crossword and hit opinions instead – Gag me – Maureen Dowd has yet another Clinton hit – “Bill Clinton is on a self-pitying meltdown about not being Elvis anymore” (THAT’S who he reminds me of) – and Clilnton mismanaged her war chest so horribly one insider said it bordered on fraud.

Oh, yeah. Well, she spent a whole lot less than Obama, and she won. Maureen Dowd needs daily psychotherapy. Someone said Manhattan should do a mass intervention for her.

  152. Thanks RD! Keep up the good work!

  153. Night, Talaxian friend.

Carol: when son is ready to go to college I am hiring YOU as a fund raiser.

  154. Update:

Ed Rendell to be interviewed on Fox News tomorrow morning. Wonder if he will mention HOUNDS?

George Stephanolpoulos will feature Ralph Nader (should be interesting) and his panel will include – hold your nose for this one – Ariana!

    Let the spin begin.

  155. I’m in for $ 30.05. I found a gift card with that amount left on it.
Last week I did a pretty big donation for me & next week I’ll try for another. I just want it known it’s from,
    “PUMA POWER”!!
    This donation thread is FUN!!
It reminds me of a happier time on Hillary’s site!!

  156. Thanks Carol…don’t mind if I do. Is there any Perrier Jouet open by chance?

  157. Dodd is a bitter bitter old woman!

Remember Dodd, at every event Senator and President Clinton will always walk to the front of the line while you are outside with the trash looking in.

  158. UpstateNY – let me know. I already sent my off to USC, graduated May 16, 2003 – second happiest day of my life. It was so much fun. Enjoy everyday while they are at home!

  159. Jmac, Maureen Dowd is mad because Bill Clinton doesn’t find her sexy.

Sad, but this is MoDo for you.

Elvis may be long gone, but he’s the KING.

    And so is BILL!!!

  160. I created a graphic this afternoon re: Rendell’s HOUNDs. Bill Bower is uploading it in the cartoons (photoes) section of his PUMA. So, if you’re in the neighborhood… check it out.

  161. Cate – we just opened it for you! Enjoy!

    We are up to $939.93!

    Thanks everyone!

  162. Maureen Dowd is a dried up, bitter, unfulfilled, egocentric, miserable, mean spirited, envious, shrill, spiteful, hate ridden, hag. Otherwise known as Rosemary’s Baby.

  163. Bill Clinton doesn’t have to do anything for Obama or the party. He has done more than anyone for the country. I know it seems almost an impossibility right now but I take comfort in the story of Deborah and Barak in the book of Judges. Barak wouldn’t go to war unless Deborah went along. But Deborah told him, “just so you know, because of your indecision, the victory in this outing will go to the credit of a woman. God has already decreed it to be so. And it was so.

  164. Pat: Ralph does not like O’s health care plan… then again, neither do I.

  165. Can I get an Amen for Felizarte?

  166. I was stunned when Obama criticized Bill’s record. I was so thankful to have eight years of a Democrat in control that I admired. Not sure it will happen again.

  167. Hola SM. Estoy cansado. Creo que me voy a ir a la cama pronto….

  168. I will write a check to Hill’s campaign for $100.44 to mail Monday-when my ss comes in or I’ll use my half of the Bush Bonus which I still have. TeeHee.

  169. ¡Hola UpstateNY!

Esta bien, estaremos aqui esperando el “Madrileño” GaryChapellHill y su reportaje de Unity.

¡Buenas noches a ti y tu familia! Hablamos mañana.

  170. With either Obama or McCain in the WH there will be no universal healthcare. Our troops will remain in Iraq. We will continue threatening back and forth with Iran. Privatization of every government program will be on the agenda. More troops will be sent to the Straits of Hormuz. Pakistan is going to fall.
Our standing with Europe will continue to slide since we will be remaining in Iraq and they face more danger than we do because of logistics. Oil prices will continue to rise since Iran will be testing the new president. There may be food shortages as a result.

This, unfortunately, is what we have to look forward to.

  171. atypical just took us to

Keep it coming in! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

  172. Buenas noches SM, Conflucians.

  173. Pat – you hit the nail on the head!

Samantha “She’s a monster” Power said “Oh, we aren’t leaving there now.”

Wasn’t the whole Obama campaign support based around that damn Iraq speech that nobody heard?

  174. I just gave $50 via Heidi Li’s blog. Does that count here?

  175. Where do I find Bill Bower’s cartoons?

  176. Pat,

I agree but also think about how many people Obama owes at this point. We are going to see the largest earmark and special interest legislation in the history of this country. The American people will get our taxes increased no matter what Obama says. We are going to get ripped off big time.

  177. wow, I was just looking at some websites where they’re claiming PUMA was started by republicans in order to fool all of us doofuses and split the democrats.

politics is such a nasty business.

  178. SherryNC – welcome, RD is out for a while but I’ve been watching the door!

    Have a drink and relax!

  179. SM, and then suddenly there was an actual video of “the speech” but then it turned out it was faux, reenacted at a later date. oy. imagine if Hillary had done that.

  180. Thank you PUMAs for doing the work you do.
    Here’s mine:
    Contribution Details
    Date: June 28, 2008 10:03 PM CDT
    Contact: SophieL
    Amount: $50.44
    Anyone else here from CT?

  181. I can’t watch This Week with George Stephanolpoulos anymore since he did that town Hall hatchet job on Hillary. I am still so disgusted with him. I used to think he was ok, but he is worse than the others because he sandbagged her. He owes his career to the Clintons. He is an A%%hole.

  182. Kiki:

    Thank you.

    Obama = Smoke and Mirrors

  183. How many people owe their careers to the Clintons and have hammered them.?

  184. People, People, People – BO is not going to win!

Stay with the program, PUMA’s never stray from their target!

    Hounds will follow anything!

    We are up to $1090.37!

Who will contribute now? The next donation helps keep Bill and Hill out of the Hound House!

  185. irlandese: they can call me whatever the fuck they like. I don’t know those people and I could care less what they call me. I have a bite that they need and if they’re smart, and I have yet to see signs of intelligent life, they’ll court me for my vote, not accuse me of being a stupid dupe.
BTW, I voted for a republican for sherriff once and that was the extent of it. It’s been Democrat for as long as I can remember. As to whether murphy ever donated to McCain, well, at least she didnt donate to Bush.

  186. My sister, mom and I are pooling contributions to total: $170.08!

I can’t stand the thought of Hillary being indebted to anyone after she gave more than seemed humanly possible. Seeing her up there on the stage with Mr. Smarmy was humiliating. It’s up to all of us to give her what she truly deserves–freedom and appreciation.

  187. There is no easy way out of Iraq now. The Iranians are threatening to close the Straits of Hormuz to traffic. This could set off a conflagration where the Iraq invasion will pale by comparison.

Israel is itching to attack Iran. Who knows what commitments the Bush Admin has made to them by way of support. The entire mideast situation is close to eruption. And the bottom line is that we desperately need the oil. Our entire economy is dependent upon it. Lay offs are beginning to increase as a primary result of spike gas prices at the pump. What happens this winter?

I have absolutely not one shred of confidence in either of these two misfits being in charge. They are each in the deep pockets of the military, big pharma, the insurance lobby, the Israeli lobby, and defense contractors. And Obama has little experience in foreign affairs. Scary.

  188. Did anyone see the interview Maureen Dowd did with Tim Russert after her book came out? Holy cow, she was FLIRTING with him, even when he started talking about his wife to try to deflect her. I lost all respect for her. I think she has Boderline Personality Disorder. Really.

  189. Carol, did you count mine?

    chat blue asked:
“How many people owe their careers to the Clintons and have hammered them.?”

Off the top of my head, Dick Morris, Bill Richardson, possibly Patty Solis-Doyle…

  190. SophieL – thank you lady.

Who is matching SophieL, I need $50.44?

It’s almost July 4th – give Hill and Bill their independence!

    $1140.81 and holding!

  191. Pat: This winter, move to FL!

Wanna get rid of some civil liberties and some extra pound? Once you cross the border, you’ll be 1/2 a person!

Obama said so – and he is INFALLIBLE!

  192. Riverdaughter–Hurrah!! When I see you drop the F-bomb, I know you mean business. I think PUMA has taken on a life of its own. And if that means women (and men) have to get entirely PISSED off to get it going, then so be it!

  193. fif, sis and mom – WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    I’m in love!

  194. JJ;

Can anyone explain how or why Obama has this much clout. Something is wrong here. Even if he is a big $$ getter, which is looking doubtful, that doesn’t explain why so many Democrats are prostrating themselves before him. Do they think he is a King? Why are they treating him like one ?

  195. Sorry – I know I have posted this before, but I love it!

Forgive Rendell, for they drugged him!

Come on I need a donation for our lady, our fighter, the 44th President of the United States!

    Please post your details.

  196. I gave her $75.00.

    Let’s kill that debt!

  197. What’s with Bush letting N. Korea into the mix. Did they really blow up their nuclear plant, or something?

  198. Are other sites doing a “Donation Drive” as well??
It would be GREAT to get this cleared-up!
I hope the MSM knows it’s from “US” & not “him”!

  199. Gayle, you murderer you!

Who wants to match this kill! No death penalty applies!

  200. NH: I’ve been wondering that for a while myself (how did Obama get so much could for doing absolutely nothing, apart from the money thing) and I cannot figure it out. But something definitely smells.

  201. SM,

I don’t have to move to Florida. I live in Michigan, I am allready half a person.

  202. Don’t mean to sound like Debbie Downer but these are the facts out there. And off shore drilling will not be viable for at least 10 years. So when I hear them talk in doublespeak and refuse to look at facts, instead commenting on the color of ties and pantsuits, or who did another flip flop on an issue, I see red.

Bush escalated this nightmare. The congress held his hand. The Dems did nothing since they gained the majority. When their joint efforts, or lack thereof, begins to seep more deeply into our everyday lives why are we not demanding more from them? When a gallon of gas equals the cost of a gallon of milk we have serious problems facing us.

Allowing candidates to set the agenda and accessibility is the wrong way to go. They serve us, not the other way around.

You want my vote, then offer me solutions. Pandering, scolding, threatening will get you nowhere.

  203. Irlandese,

Dowds positively pitiful. I think everyone living outside the beltway bubble already knows this.

  204. Hot damn, Rico and the gorgeous woman with the Louise Brooks hairdo is back. Woo-hoo.
    I’ll have a Pumatini.
I’m sending fifty dollars to Hillary to retire her debt and I’m done for the political season unless, by some miracle, HRC is our nominee.
Shout out to my sister, Annetwo.

  205. RD, lol, I voted for a republican once, and it was also for sheriff. I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know the sheriff job was up for grabs. I was at a party on the saturday before the election and met the guy who was running. he was real nice and I and others (a little drunkenly) promised him our vote. I actually remembered the following tuesday and decided what the heck, might as well be true to my word. he won. I guess he was an o.k. sheriff. so many of us probably have a republican skeleton or two in our closets.

I found out just the other day a friend of mine voted for Bush in 2000. I never would have suspected that (and was surprised she admitted it, frankly). I’m still reeling a little from that revelation, and grasping for a way to get past it.

  206. cracking up, see you in November, asshat.

  207. Windy , then you and I together make one whole person! Isn’t that great that in Obama’s world we come together in Unity?

(Rico, did you put Kool-Aid icecubes in my drink? I’m starting to talk Obama-speak! Get me a PUMA cocktail, straight, no ice!)

  208. SweetieSue! – that would be August in Denver!

  209. Looks like a guppie got through the filter.

  210. cracking up and Maureen Dowd – now there’s a pair of losers!

  211. I still think there’s a plot within a plot at work with BO.
I’m really wondering why Hill and her big money folks can’t tell BO that she has to be on the ballot and that she must have her delegates unchanged from when she earned them. There have to be some cracks somewhere in this Wall of A-BOmination.

  212. SweetieSue has taken us to

    Who’s next!

  213. Cracking up – I’m “cracking up” that the O-borg has you working so late without any overtime.

  214. Maureen is a sad pathetic case. Talk about lack of dignity- She’s one of those women who gets her self worth from sleeping around; getting a man in bed has always been the only way she feels any validation. Now that her looks and youth are gone she has nothing else to fall back on. That is one of the reasons she hates Hillary, she can never be as smart, as successful, as important as Hillary. It is so sad to see Maureen try to flirt with anything that has pants. The frat boys all make fun of her, yet in her sick twisted mind she thinks she’s sexy! I remember Imus and his gang mocking her, but she never caught the sarcasm. She really thought they found her attractive- when she would leave the show they would tear her apart. I know it’s not PC to say but I never felt sorry for her – she’s a nasty bitter pill and continually holds herself up to be derided.

  215. NH:

Can anyone explain how or why Obama has this much clout. Something is wrong here.

As the de facto nominee, Obama is the leader of the Democratic Party, and his guys are now in charge of the whole Dem show and the Convention.

That’s why I don’t understand why some former Hillaryite keep insisting that we just fall in line behind Obama. We, the “dead enders”, the “petulant”, the “tamper tantrum throwing immature” are Hillary’s bargaining chip. We are the reason she can be in position to DEMAND stuff.

Without us, the thugs running the Obama campaign, along with the media will be dumping all over her, again.
Just look at the smugness with which they talk about Hillary’s need to have Obama’s help her with her debt. I can she’s afraid to end up in jail.

  216. Looks like I’m late to the party.

May I please have a selzer with lime, Rico?

  217. ok, since we’re doing riddles, what’s sadder than a “bunch of sad, pathetic, has been decrepit old deadeners on the nets today who are so pathetic they band together on a sad lonely blog”?

Answer: TROLLING that very blog! and on a saturday night, no less. hang in there, cracking up, you’ll get a date one of these days.

  218. Carole~ I will have to make mine on monday.

I was at a fundraiser for Jay Nixon who is running for Gov. of Mo. last night. Everyone I talked to was sick about things, my county was solid for Hillary in the primary. I talked to a delegate to the convention and asked her what was up. She said she is Hillary’s delegate and will stay that way until Hillary releases her.

Lots of single Moms on this thread. Me too. My daughter is grown, wonderful, expecting her first and she lives right across the lake from me. There is a Goddess! College was the worst!

Good for Bill! What would the press have to talk about if it weren’t for the Clintons! I think some are starting to get bored with O. Some are part of the cult.

  219. Carol, I’m donating another 20.44 in memory of my college mascot, who passes away last night. RIP< UGA VI. Check will go out Mon.

  220. Kiki
I’m still not speaking to an old friend of mine from highschool, not because she voted for Bush (which I couldn’t understand ), but because she told me Bush “was elected” by the voters, and Re: the war, that the people in Congress were better able to make those decisions than we were.
She professes to our mutual friends that she cannot understand why I was/am upset with her.
BO doesn’t have a chance to win me back either.

  221. BB has brought us up to

Anything else with that selzer and line?

    I love counting money!

Who can take up over $1500????????????

  222. ok Rico, need a Pumatini, extra olives please. I just had this vision of Hillary on the bus stuck to the glass( like that old garfield cat people used to put on their cars ) looking out at the Puma’s as they drove by screaming “party unity my ass!!

  224. chatblu – sorry for the loss.

    Thank you so much.

    We are now at $1443.33!

  225. Beats trolling the bars…except I’ve never spent $200 bailing my sister our BEFORE we’ve left the bar! I’ll have another cosmo, por favor.

  226. oops! should have took my name off lol……I really need a drink now.

  227. That’s okay, purpl. A few more shots of that Mama Juana stuff and we won’t remember,

  228. Carol~ I’m dry but plenty are not. I hear thunder right now! Rainiest season in my memory. Fits my mood sometimes.

    change 2 letter code?

  229. prplvette85 – Thanks so much.

Everyone – let’s peel Hill off of the windshield.

We need to take it over $1500 – let’s go!!!!!!!!!!

  230. Another Mama Juan double shot for Chatblu.

BTW: I will not be held responsible if you start dancing on the tables.

  231. Its not us I am worried about, but pass me a shot! next round on me.

  234. Missouri – MO

    Michelle – MO

    Sad, sad…….

Somebody cheer me up. I need the pot to go over $1500 now!

  235. Dakinikat – go to Just Say No Deal’s site under “Media”, Will Bower had an interview today with Fox, he did great as always.

  236. I read on a blog (can’t recall which, but I’m fairly certain it was a PUMA blog) that we should visualize Hillary accepting the nomination in Denver. Just curious if there are others who believe it could work and how many would be the critical mass to do it?

  237. atypical, it’s tough balancing personal relationships and politics. I hate what this particular primary season has done to families and friendships – I’ve heard some awful stories.

I learned to separate the two – I was married for 19 years to a republican. actually, we’re still married, have been for 26 years, but GWB cured him of all that repub stuff. I was so proud this year when he voted for Hillary in the primary, and now he’s a PUMA as well. but we did hang together during the dark years when we supported different parties. he always was a social liberal, just thought conservatives were better with money or something.

but my point is, I hate to see personal relationships crumble over politics. I hope eventually you can find common ground with your friend if the friendship is important to you.

  238. I need $31.67 plus a penny to take us over $1500.

Rico, set ’em up. I’ll have a couple of those Hep Cats. And pass the munchies, please, it’s been a long day and I don’t want to think about anything but eating and drinking!

  241. Notice how all the village members who really love O are the ones who try to minimize our numbers? So many of them are in Axlerod’s hip pocket. They are giving the Campaign talking points. I think they really want us downplayed.Very little mention of our real problem…with the DNC! Last thing they want is for us to grow or change the narrative.

  242. Carol, I don’t know what you do for a living, but have you ever considered a career as an auctioneer? 🙂

  243. Atypical – Perfectly presented!

  244. Just sent Hillary $100 more… Hope everyone goes there.

  245. Carol, if you don’t do fundraising for a living, all I can say is – you’ve missed your calling! 🙂

  246. Pat Johnson,

It sounds like a nightmare on the horizon!!!! And to think the DNC insists on ramming Obambi down our throats at a time like this!!!!!!! I have faith that Hillary could fix this country and take us to peace and prosparity. But the corporations aren’t willing to take the hit!!!!The reason we’re moving toward nuclear power rather than solor panels is so the corporations can continue to charge a utility bill. I was proud of Senator Clinton for voting against that 2005 Bush/Chaney energy bill.

  247. Linda – I love you!

Who is going to take over when I go to bed?

    Let’s do it in shifts!

    Keep it going!

We have averaged $429.65 an hour. Also, there are those that have already contributed the max, and those that have contributed recently.

We are putting our money where our mouths are!

Exactly like our next President Hillary Rodham Clinton!

    I’m signing off!

Someone please keep up the goal and the total.

  248. Carol~

Oh! thanks. I’m a little slow tonight . Dog tired from cultivating the garden all day.The only reason I am still on line is I’m too tired to get up and go to bed!

  249. kiki, lol, gmta

  250. Sophie L. I believe the visualization (suggesting that we visualize Hillary taking the oath of occie) will work if enough of us participate.

Here’s how it goes: “I believe the universe is one and I am part of THE ONE; I speak my word for Hillary. Hillary is the President of the United States of America. And so it is”

  251. What are ya doing to me?

I try to leave and you just keep donating!

mystic – you just moved us to $1538.77

    Thanks so much.

  252. yeah Sherry 🙂 Carol definitely has skills!

  253. naoko

Thank ya very much – Bill will now play a little tune on the Sax!

  254. atypical: Where do I find Bill Bower’s cartoons?

They’re at his facebook puma site in the photos section. I didn’t realize that the HOUND piece wasn’t up yet when I posted that embarrassing self promotion. I did the Hillary-Puma money and the Opossum at the lectern with (modified) seal in that section too.
It’s just another way to channel my frustration with the unDemocratic Party.

  255. The trolls have renamed Neil Cavuto’s Fox show- which is simply called ‘Your World w/ Neil Cavuto’ – to the way better (IMO) Your PUMA World w/Neil Cavuto. LOL.

They think Cavuto is spending too much time covering the PUMA movement. We are really getting to them. Hooray!

  256. woohoo, naoko made it $1638.77!

  263. You guys are amazing. Much luck to you on getting that debt down!

  264. My summer pay comes on tuesday. Will add to the pot then 😉

  265. This site is amazing! I feel PUMA blood running through my veins. Carol rocks!!

  266. Thanks to everyone who has donated so that Hillary doesn’t have
to ride that Obama bus except to introduce herself to more
Americans should she so choose. The thermometer at Heidi Li’s shows
$3 million, but I’m not sure if that is just Heidi’s collection or the
total amount raised by Heidi and hillaryclinton.com.

If BO were smart, he wouldn’t campaign with her or Bill.
They will just show by contrast a hollow man he is–one who is about himself and his own needs and ego versus the Clintons who have always been in this for other people. Bill needs to recover
from his operations. His campaigning for his wife was a labor of
love. Campaigning for the zero who trashed both of them and
accused them of being racists (when there is probably no one
more obsessed with race than biracial BO) is not going to win converts
to Obama’s camp. The smarter people have already figured out
what a zero he is. The lower-life forms that voted Obama be
of right-wing Clinton hater have one of their own to worship.

Maureen Dowd is showing the world her sick psyche. For a look into
the pathetic mind of Chris (Tweety) Matthews, see:

  267. Right-wing Clinton “hatred”

  268. I can’t think of better way to honor Hillary Clinton than to help retire her debt.

  269. Don’t forget, pathetic. As his wife said initially. And, most of the time, pontificating, posturing and always preposperous!

The thing that annoyed me while they were on stage is he said we need Mr Clinton before he said Hillary. I’ll see if I can find it. It seemed a snide put down, that made her the little woman again. And, it is these unnecessary swipes that initially turned me off that bunch.

  270. Kiki, My husband of 47 yrs. is also a Repub. Over at the polling place, they used to whisper when we came in, “She’s a Democrat”.( We live in a Repub. area). Anyway, I don’t know if he actually voted for Bush, he won’t say, and he couldn’t vote in the primary ffor Hill, but he has sent her money and wants to vote for her in November . How’s that for positive thinking?
My friend is a lost cause. As I said, I don’t care who she voted for; it was her trying to tell me that what I thought about Bush and the War didn’t matter. It’s like, Get over it.

  271. Carol cracked me up tonight. she just charged in with a purpose and she did wonderfully! she does rock

  272. i’m sorry if I’m going to sound like a downer but I’m still very down and depressed about all the sexism and mysoginy of this campaign. I still have nightmares thinking about the hillary nutcracker life size cardboard they had up in front of a store in the Reagan airport. I seriously looked the other way everytime i had to pass by it and I felt bad that i didnt have the courage to go up and complain about it. i cant forget about it. i cant understand how women like Stephanie Miller and Nancy Pelosis have to deny that hillary suffered sexism throughout the campaign. I need cheering up…

yesterday i was listening to cnn and they had ariana who had to say something good about hillary so she said that her daughter who was for obama nevertheless had very good things to say about clinton. what is this supposed to mean??? her young daughter can see how important for women was hillary’s campaign but that was not enough for her to support another woman. well as the young women supporting obama always say, it was just not the right woman. Right, the more qualified and well known candidate (let alone women candidate) is not the right woman, so then who is going to be the right woman, McCaskill? Sebelius? are they really serious? Those young woman really think that there will be other women candidates in the future to the white house?? do they really think that? its just a matter of time?? i wish i was so hopeful. i’m not hopeful at all

  273. Kiki,
I’m no longer a Democrat (Independent), after May 31st and the big betrayal.
I still can’t believe that so many are looking the other way with this outright corruption.

  274. atypical, that’s great about your husband – we have that in common 🙂 47 years though – wow!

yeah, the friend sounds like a lost cause. I’m sorry. I guess y’all didn’t have that much in common anyway. thinking differently is one thing – thinking what the other person thinks is unimportant is another thing entirely. I hope that made sense.

  275. Tomorrow’s my birthday, and my daughter is throwing me a party. All gifts to be donations to Hillary’s campaign funds. Only one friend was uncomfortable with it so she’s bringing me a gift certificate to my favorite store. Samantha’s dad will match it with cash for Hillary. It should add up to a couple hundred. Tonight’s celebration was a play at the New Repertory Theater in Watertown near Boston. “According to Tip” starring Ken Howard (White Shadow, Crossing Jordan) as Tip O’Neil. What an outing for a political junkie! Rico, I’ll have a Cape Codder, please.

  276. Lia,
Thanks for the additions to the P-Putdowns

  277. Jonas8, I always wondered about Arianna Huff. She was a Repug not too long ago. Same with Kos.

  278. “Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History.” Laurel Thatcher Ulrich

To thine own self , Be true.” Shakespeare

  279. I’ve only registered to vote in two states and neither had the option of registering with a party. so I’ve always been officially independent. sad, cause now I don’t get to make that kind of statement.

  280. Sorry I couldn’t do more, but I wanted to be part of helping with this campaign debt. I’m an independent, and HIllary was my pick all along. Myself (and my 10yo daughter) were very excited about her being elected POTUS. BO lost me last spring, when he endorsed Richard Daley for mayor. I spent all but the last 10 years of my life in the Chicago area, and I knew right then what Mr. Hopey/Changey was really about.

I hope I can be an honorary PUMA, because I am so very excited about the PUMA movement, and the traction it has gained.

  282. yeah, , Happy Birthday, samanthasmom!!!!!!

  283. Kiki,
My friend and I went back a long way. I used to critique her writing and she did the same for my poetry. We once shared the same boyfriend and used to joke about the time she cut my hair short (by trying to even it up) because he liked long hair. She wrote a very funny short story about him and us, the conclusion of which was that neither of us won. Ironically, he called last Feb. when my brother died, to tell me that he still loved me (with my husband sitting next to me on the couch), and as serious as he may have been about the late declaration, I think she and I could have had a big laugh about it.
Yikes, iit’s maudlin time and I haven’t even had a drink.

  284. For everyone who offered advice to help me out with the stop loss issue with my son. THANK YOU. Right now I feel just kinda dead inside.

I can’t see my PUMA cub in body armor.

    I am just in shock.

Keep your fingers crossed that I will wake up and it was just a bad dream.

  285. I love Ken Howard. I saw him on an old Law And Order the other day and thought “he’s got more toupees than Alan Brady.”*

*That’s an insy joke for my fellow oldsters.
Ken, you’ll always be the randy and gorgeous Tom Jefferson to me!

  286. My husband doesn’t like either party, but said he just might vote Hillary if she pulls out the nomination. He’s a male feminist, I gotta say, and he was as upset as I about the way Hillary was treated by the press and the Democratic party. He doesn’t much agree with all her policies, but he does think she would be a good president, starting on day one. There are even republicans supportive of the PUMAs, because wrong is wrong, and the way Pres & Sen Clinton have been maligned, and BO annointed is even offensive to them. Much worse than how the Repubs chose Bush back in 2000 over McCain.

  289. Kim, keep us posted. I’m still trying to think of sources for you. I posted a couple earlier on a nother thread.

Sad to say, once, I really did. Oh sigh.
    Good Night, Conflucians.

  291. Wondeful party! Thanks for opening up your space for us!
If anybody wants to see something very very curious go take a look at the Pa Dem party website. Scroll down and look on the right hand side under “latest News” There is a link to the Baltimore Sun article “How Obama Can Lose” (sorry- I wish I knew how to take a screen shot- anybody sober enough to give instructions?)

Rico, a Cape Codder please, for old times sake- I miss the ocean!

    Wonder if Eddie knows???

  292. Alan Brady – Rob Petrie’s boss? lol

  293. Well, I’m home from the store, and I didn’t find any money on the ground, but I did see – I can’t tell you HOW many tree limbs down! Just a block from my home, there was a huge tree limb blocking the walk. and branches all over the streets. I didn’t see it on my way home earlier as I went a different way.

I can’t believe just how much Carol cheer led from everyone. (I mailed my debt-relief check on my way to the store.) Great Job everyone!

Carol, you really ought to work for Public Radio. The fundraiser has been going on for at least 2 weeks and they still haven’t met their goal.

    Thanks for the reminder, Carol!

  295. I donated 50.44 to Hillary last night and will do so again on July 4th along with my 5.44 to John McCain. I was signed up to have Hillary take 25.00 a month from me but she stopped that last month so I will still give at least that amount till I can not give anymore. She always has my love and support and I do not want Obama to give her a dime.

  296. Aggh, I maxed out a few weeks ago. In my last message to the campaign, I expressed my bitterness over the whole thing being “fixed” (we had just learned of Chicago “merger”). But I concluded by stating how happy I was she had used my money to screw them up.

Clumping off for a gingerale — cursing bitterly for what might have been . . .

  297. i’ll try to catch up on the contributions: the last one i saw was:

Ohio $50. way to go, Ohio.

    Nadai $25. alright, Nadai.

we’re up to $1769.21! let’s see if we can reach $1800 by 10:30 PM pacific time. we only need $30.79 more.

  298. I am almost maxed out also after last night but I think I still have about 90.00 to go, after that I will just make my signifant other (who is a republican) send in some lol or at leat his name will.

  299. hey, Kim. i’ll add the $50 in. muchas gracias.

we’re up to $1819.65. can we break $1900 by 11:30?

  300. Kim, I’m off to bed but wanted to tell you that you and your family remain in my thoughts.

  301. Well, I’m always late to the party (was out at a BBQ) but I donated 25.00 a day ago. I’m saving up to give more on the 4th.

I don’t want Hillary beholden to that jack@$$. Not in any way. So, I’m all for retiring her debt. And, as RD said, we’ll take to from here now, Hillary, in prep for next time.

  302. Riverdaughter–
Thank you for being a voice of reason and vision with your blog. Rico, I’ll have a shot of whiskey in honor of Hillary- a true woman warrior who amazed us as she got stronger as the primary waged on. As the other two were waning, looking tired and lost- they still do— she was rising…Rise Hillary Rise!…I know it is time for distance-and it is time for all pumas to help her pay down her debt without the help of Jr. and his money folks. ..I’m not letting the DNC and Jr. take my vote away from me–I am writing in Hillary Clinton when I vote in the General Election, here in Texas we can write a candidate in. And then I hope we all can work to encourage her to run in 2012…

Wish it could be more but will soon be in the process of moving back to NOLA area and will have rent deposits and other details to handle.

Perhaps we’ll get enough soon so she won’t need to have her rice bowl out to Barry’s supporters.

  304. RD, sorry I’m so terribly late to the party. I contributed to Hillary earlier in the evening and then stopped by the band on my way in. Haven’t seen Al Stewart since…..since….ever, but have always been mesmerised by his music. That, plus my weakness for brilliant musicians with intelligent eyes, smooth voices and sexy accents….and in their prime…..forget it.

Additionally, I liked Al’s jacket, though I might wear it with a fuchsia decolette (in 1975). Yeah.

    Rico! Check please!

    love fuzzybear

hope Mawn and Gary are ok

  306. PS gave $ 25.00 yesterday will match myself on 4th of july to celebrate Hillary for president financial independence day-we are going to do this

  307. BTW, I contributed $35.00 @ around 11.00PM (on the 28th) to Hillary’s web site via the connect in Riverdaughter’s post.

  308. What many in the present Dem leadership do not realize is that each active PUMA blogger is only a tip of their individual icebergs. I personally can say that I am the only blogger of our group of fifteen Hillary supporters who would definitely go for McCain if nothing comes out of Denver i.e. Hillary at the top of the ticket. I imagine that other PUMA bloggers represent their own groups as well. We may not be fat cats, but our votes can roar! For us to be called sore losers now is nothing compared to how they would feel after Nov. 4 if it came to a choice between having a Pres. Obama (M.A.) or Pres. McCain. McCain is not my choice but he is a more acceptable replacement to Bush than Obama. This is of course just my opinion and that of my “pride.” GO PUMA!!

  312. Good morning, Conflucians!

“This is the day that the lord has made. Let us be glad and rejoice in it.”

I’ve always loved this verse. When I attend my neighbor’s church I sometimes here them sing these words as part of a hymn.

My neighbor is very involved in her church. On ssundays, She and her lady friends get all dressed up in colorful ensembles and fantastic hats. Mizzz Kane is from Baltimore. She is a wiry, tough little bird. She keeps a baseball bat behind her door. She cooks old style southern and the aromas from her kitchen make grown men weep.

She attends numerous family reunions. When she leaves on a trip, she asks us to watch her house. Once she stopped me and thanked me for some chore we did for her while she was down south. She mentioned that “rode the dog” to get her reunion. (She takes the Greyhound bus.)

Anyway, let us be glad and rejoice in neighbors and friends.

  313. WooHooooooooooooooooooo!

You guys kept it going, while I was sleeping like a baby – waking up every few hours and crying! (That’s what Bill said after Hill’s ‘I have a knife in my back and have to say I am suspending’ Speech)

Okay here’s how I am totaling it now!

    Kim ?

Michael joined other’s with a just the day before donation of $25! (He and a few others beat us to the punch!)

    Did I miss someone?

Not bad for a night’s work!

Let’s keep it going all day!

Remember, Hillary answering to Chris Matthews and KO – not a good thing! Let’s get our debt for our campaign paid!

  314. Carol – Brava!

You sure know how to sell. Keep it up.

  315. I will need another job, if I don’t get busy doing mine!

    So, come on everyone!

    Save me and save Hillary!

  316. Take a look at Will over at No Quarter – the hound with the sandwich board is hysterical!

  317. SWALLOW is the correct acronym for the Hillary supporters who drink the kool ade.

And no sir. I will not swallow what you are trying to cram down my throat,

  318. SWALLOW Credo

We believe Sen. Clinton supporters should vote for Sen. Obama because, as Obama has said so forcefully himself, we are r*cists if we don’t comply. the best way to achieve the total destruction of the Democratic Party (a party to which Sen Clinton has dedicated her life) is to support Sen. Obama, whose policies, unlike Senator Clinton’s will reward the rich at the expense of the poor.

  319. I would suggest that the Democratic Party step back from the ledge and let the govenor of PA and nice lady in the pantsuit go. The only dog that wags is the Big Dawg-Bill and he had “the 27 words” for Senator Obama…I have the BIG 4 Words-“Just Say No Deal.”

and can i and a selection to the Hound Sandwich Board-

The Dont do it Daddy Dagwood-
    Stale Bread
Lots of cheeZe (for the photo ops)
No meat(for the lack of clear policies)
(meat can be borrowed from the Hillary Hero/like the all her policies)
Arugulla and Tomato(can be added for an extra donation)
Rancid Oil vinegar-(because our nominee is slippery and we like bitter)
    cost $ 2300.00

  320. This is actuually Windy’s husband and she contribured earlier in the week but rd inspired me to send my own $35. PUMA

  321. Already maxed out so I can’t do any more. But I have been donating to WomenCount PAC.

  322. Windy’s husband – You are a true patriot!
    (Thanks Windy!)

    Total $2150.09

Who has a spouse that needs to match Windy’s Husband?

  323. Radiowalla – Thank ya very much!

  324. Carol: “Take a look at Will over at No Quarter – the hound with the sandwich board is hysterical”

Thanks! I created that yesterday after I read Rendell’s HOUND Credo and Riverdaughter’s eloquent comprehensive response.

Great job on the retire-her-debt fundraiser yesterday.

  325. Dances – great job!

We are still going – let’s make it $3000 before Noon!

  326. We have to keep the Puma Movement growing and a key way is to grow Riverdaughter’s hits as well as hits to the Puma sites that are part of the coalition of blogs. And we have to bring new people to visit as well. 18 million voted for Hill–we need to get them on board…
I was away from the computer for a week- out of town visiting my father- no internet. The MSM is for the most part just ignoring the Puma Movement and one does not get the sense of how strong it is. When I talked to people- who voted for Hill- about the Puma movement–they didn’t know about it and were interested. So many are upset but think it’s all over and there’s nothing they can do about it..
It was great to come back home and visit this blog and see that the movement is alive and well.

  327. Update-medical Allert -Unity Pony on Last legs-

Many americans(obamabots) have been holding a candlelight Vigil outside the Dr Dean Veteranian Hospital because of the his recent accident involving a large bus that appeared to have more people riding underneath it than in it.

Hospital Spokesperson Nanvy Pelosi gave the following statement:

“We know the interest in the current state of health is a big concern to all but 18 million democrats…It appears the unity pony will not make it he has lost a lot of financial support errrr-blood. Efforts buy expert surgeons Dr Hillary Clinton and pony specialist Dr Ed Rendell have proven in adequate to save our unity pony.

It appears the Unity Pony’s internal injuries to its heart are fatal-there is no way to “get over it” for the unity pony. a final effort to revive the braindead DNC …errr…uinity pony have failed.

A new treatment called “Hound” (HOwabout UndOing the Damage)was totally ineffective. I am afraid the unity pony will not make it to Denver this year nor be the big race in November.”

    Rest in Peace unity pony….

  328. Good Morning Confluentials! This is my first post here at The Confluence. I’ve lurked quite awhile but I was compelled to post after reading Arabella Trefoil’s post above.

    BOOYAH Arabella Trefoil!

I too take “The Anti-Swallow Pledge”:

I will not swallow what you are trying to cram down my throat

Arabella, I hope you don’t mind but i shared your “Swallow Credo” with my hillfans at bitterpoliticz. They will treasure it.

  329. blogtalkradio.com has a new program called “no we wont” it is a call in show and next one is tonight at 8 pm cant wait check it out…the anouncer is a true blue PUMA and so will will now have a new outlet to put voices to our words.

Can the DNC and the MSM ignore 18 million voices at anything but their own peril?

  330. Arrebella- I to take the I wont swallow pledge-I have heard that there is an antidote to the Koolaid. I is large doses of the 200+ Puma blobs and web pages and rewatching the youtube videos put out by hireheels noquarter and Just say no deal.com…the above works as a good vaccine should someone try to force the koolaid down your throat.

  331. michael – funny and so accurate!

birdie – welcome to the cocktail hour!

  332. Guys and Gals – It’s been 31 minutes since the last donation!

I cannot live on love alone!

Send some money and post the Details!

  333. Good morning, michael. I just finished my laundry. Hooray! The rest of the day belongs to me.

birdie – Welcome. Take off your shoes and set a while.

As far as SWALLOW goes, my stuff is your stuff. Do whatever you want with it!

  334. I have moved the tally over to the newest post.

Please continue to contribute and post over there!

    The tally keeps going.

  335. the girls and guys at hireheels thought my reform the nomination process thesis was great a less edited version appears near the top of this thread let me know what you think.

I believe that if hillary is not our nominee then once the convetion is a “done deal” we need to rattle the cages for post election reform and keep our dialog on the GE to a simple “we will not vote for obama/just say no deal.”

I will infuriate the currupt DNC powerbrokers if we refuse to debate them on the big “o’s” unworthiness to stand up as our candidatein the GE-and just keep hitting them with party reform. They will know we are united and singleminded on achieving reform of the nomination process.

Also it will send a clear message that we have accepted NObama’s NOvember 4th defeat as inevitable and we can start telling them “they need to get over it.”

still hoping Hillary pulls of a suprise-but even if she does the reform the party is still necessary.

  336. Good morning to yo’all! Wow! This site rocks!

Totally agree with the idea of sending whatever anyone can afford to take care of Hillary’s debt once and for all (even if it is very little). As a matter of fact, a few days back I posted here saying that with a donation to Hillary of just $2 per @of her 18 mil voters her debt could be erased in a jiffy.

I’m a flight attendant, have a 4-year-old daughter, due to a messed up back (I love this job but it can be very tough!) on family leave (no pay), and facing furlough (close to 4 thousand of us are shaking in our boots right now—and that’s just in my company, other airlines are facing the same problem).

Anyway, though it has been difficult as hell, since the very day that she decided to suspend her campaign I’ve donated $35 to Hillary and I’ve just sent $15 to make it $50 total. Does this count as a match up to Carol’s $50?

    Contribution Details
    Date: June 29, 2008 11:06 AM CDT
    Contact: XXXX
    Amount: $15.00

  337. Donated $25 at beginning of week. Will donate again (and when I can) to make up for those that just can’t. Thanks RD for all your brilliance.

  338. Michael: I like the idea of donating on the 4th of July for financial independence. Or was that someone else’s idea? Anyway, good thinking!!!!!

  339. Sheri – thanks. We are taking donations all week to hopefully have the debt totally retired by Friday! Post when you are ready and I will add to the tally!

  340. Just donated another $75 to retire the debt. I hope we’ll get to see how much was donated in the month of June to retire the debt!

  341. DATE: June 30, 2008 1:38 AM EDT
    lSan Antonio, TX
    AMOUNT: $100.00

It’s great to find your group. I was afraid HE would get any retire-the-debt money I sent to Hillary.
