Tuesday: Michelle calls us liars

From The Billings Gazette, we have the heartwarming story of Michelle Obama and her real feelings about bloggers:

“The way this campaign has been run is the way we need to be forever,” Obama said. “Don’t trust bloggers or someone else’s opinion, because people lie.”

Well, that’s certainly a frightening concept, that Obama might actually run the country in the same way he has run the campaign, with rampant misogyny, hooligans threatening the opposition, theft of votes, campaign PR guys just making $!#% up about RFK and attempts to quell dissent. Yeah, four years of that sounds just peachy.

Of course, bloggers need not apply for commentary on the Obama administration. It is a forgone conclusion that we lie. Gee, and all this time I have been trying so hard to keep things like Rezko, Ayers, Wright and Farrakhan off the front page of this blog. After all, I can’t prove there is any direct criminality between Tony Rezko and Barack Obama. They might just have been drinking buddies. And Ayers and his lovely wife have paid their debt to society. Or someone has paid the debt for them. And Wright is *retired* for Gawd’s sakes. Besides, we all know that Barry was in the bathroom taking a whizz when Wright was pontificating about our collective white guilt. As for Farrakhan, just because the Obama campaign has been busily crafting pre-damage control transcripts of an alleged panel discussion featuring Michelle and Farrakhan doesn’t mean it actually happened. Then again, if imaginary voters can count in Michigan, maybe imaginary videos really exist too.

Ohhhh, so is *that* what this is all about? Is Michelle trying to marinate the press to discount anything that appears in the blogs about the alleged videotape that we take great pains to not discuss because we haven’t seen it (because, for all we know, it’s as real as pixie dust)?

But Michelle, there are so many other things that are perfectly true about dear Barry. We don’t have to resort to rumors and innuendo. Like, we could probably trust our lying eyes last weekend when Barry was awarded 59 delegates he did not earn, 4 of which were the result of direct theft from another candidate. Hard to discount that since The Confluence had two eyewitnesses to the event. And while it is true that Barry didn’t force the RBC to give him the unearned delegates, he took them anyway. At no point in time have we heard him say, “No, no, I don’t need these unearned delegates to win. And please give these 4 delegates back to Hillary because to take them would be stealing and that would be WROOONNG!” I did not hear him say that. Did any of you PUMAs hear Barry decline the stolen delegates awarded to him by the corrupt and obviously partial RBC?

And while it is true that Reverend Wright and Father Pfleger have been “caught on tape” as MSNBC would say, it would be unkind to say that Barry agrees with anything they say. After all, that would be like guilt by association. We all noticed that Barry separated himself from Trinity UCC just a couple of days ago. It took him twenty years but who among us doesn’t understand procrastination?

It’s not like we have to lie when the truth is so much more entertaining and outrageous. And we promise not to bring up the Farrakhan thing until it actually surfaces or until Barry’s campaign produces an official transcript. After all, our credibility is at stake here.

PUMA POWER!

  1. I think Michelle was probably referring to me in that video (that doesn’t exist even though Obamanation has released a transcript) because my rap name is “Why-T”

  2. I just watched Bob Beckel of Fox News say: Something is coming out about Michelle O tomorrow. Asked if this was worse than her thesis….Bob said YES.

    Who’s lying Michelle?
    Why’d ya say that?

    Stay strong Hillary!
2 4 1 if necessary in Nov. Never Obama!

  3. The thing about Wright/Pfelger/Trinity is that this cancer is only metastasizing and it’ll blow up come September. Even innuendo will be brutal because it’ll further entrench the idea that Obama shares the views of that church and its pastors, creating a snowball effect.

Obama is the one…the GOP has been praying for. What a godsend he is to them.

  4. I don’t know if anyone saw the “Three Wise Men” video on NoQuarter, but it is extremely offensive, a compilation of hate-filled rants by Obama spiritual advisors, Wright, Pfleger, Meeks…, but it is Otis Moss’s contribution that really got my blood boiling. He preaches a bible story relating how the oppressed win by getting the “enemy” to allow them into their camp, to give them their resources, and then at the appropriate moment turn on them. This is a thinly veiled reference to Bill Clinton’s tremendously open and inclusive welcoming of African Americans into his administration. Moss is saying that all along Black leaders were coddling up to the Clintons, so they could take their resources and destroy them at the appropriate time. This is all part of God’s plan. God is going to bring AAs into the promised land by stealing Clinton’s resources, and using them to destroy her.

Totally disgusting. This Obama’s racial politics can never be allowed near the White House. It will destroy our country, but I guess that is what THEY want.

Why does Michelle Obama HATE America?

  5. What a hilarious comment by Michelle re: blogs and the media. Maybe she was talking about the Blogger Boyz and MSNBC?

As for the other part, the arrogance, hypocrisy and holier-than-thou attitude is just staggering.

  6. We’ve had some doozy potential first ladies on both sides of the aisle. I’m trying to think of one that was as offensive as Michelle. Teresa Heinz was pretty bad. She could barely contain her disgust for her husband, which was understandable. and Hillary had a way of occasionally saying the wrong (cookies, teas, right wing conspiracies). But they all had some amount of grace about them. I never heard them call a bunch of people “liars.” Then when you hear from Michelle’s brother you realize they are south side Chicago thugs.

  7. Did Bob Beckel actually say there was something coming out? How did he look when he said it? I often though he shilled for Obama.

  8. Ben, the closest comparison I can come up with is Barbara “beautiful mind”, “it’s all working out rather well for them” Bush. She’s a nasty piece of work, as well.

  9. Yes, i forgot about that. Babs’s comment was bad. But this “the way we need to be forever” is really strange. I think it really is a cult. And if you remember those cults of the 60s (ok I wasnt there) didn’t treat women very well.

  10. I’m a radical lefty who agreed with a lot that Wright and Fledger said, up unti the second they started talking about Clinton. It’s like hello, you believe in a big penis in the sky — don’t start talking like you have any moral authority over females.

I’m really hating the fact that people are using all of this stuff to make Obama look like some kind of leftist as if that should discredit him. He’s actually to the right of Clinton (and was poised to move even further right before the 50 state plan nonsense fell apart) — and I do think it’s racist that a lot of people are acting like she’s the more centrist and mainstream candidate.

He should lose because he’s Bush 3, too, not because of white people panicking.

Larry Johnson is annoying me lately for that reason. If you don’t believe Obama has a sincere bone in his body, his 20 year connection to people he exploited for his own gain shoudn’t exactly imply anything about shared vision.

  11. Boy can she be baited easily. The Republicans are going to give her a nervous breakdown.

  12. It sounded cultlike to me as well, Ben. Barbara is just a garden variety b*tch. Michelle is scary. She, her husband and his supporters are “building a religion”.

Never thought I’d be as disgusted with Democrats as I am today.

  13. I started to say something about the possibility of this tape not existing. But then I realized that EVERYTHING anyone in that group does seems to be on tape. So wouldn’t every panel discussion they ever had be taped to?

    So forget the qualification.

This is The Summer of Revelations. And it seems that Larry Johnson is committed to making sure there are few secrets going into the convention (did you see the aside from Susan about how they’ve got a lot more information coming about other issues?)

Also, there was the story last week about Lou Dobbs making Obama his hobby.

Like lots of people, the Obama’s seem to have difficulty with scrutiny. I think they’ll crack under the pressure this summer.

  14. This morning Meredith was giddy when talking to Terry. Tim says that this it it. Hillary is gone, gone, gone. Such happiness in the air at NBC.

Plus, Matt tells us that O is willing to meet H when she is ready to talk Unity. O is going to do this in such a non threatening way that women will embrace him, Matt claims. After all women are easily threatened, you know.

Thank you Tim, Meredith and Matt for showing me how wrong I was about O.

Now, tell me, How many fingers do you see?

  15. Hillary Clinton was a great First Lady-just compare her to the Zombie on Xanax we have today (has Laura even pretended to have a cause?)-and Hillary will be a great President.

  16. KB: “This is The Summer of Revelations”

Abso-frickin-lutely. I think summer starts today, myself. Michelle may be the very last straw.

I look forward to watching the Precious lose (again) today.

trying to prepare myself for Hillary declaring tonight that she is “taking the next 6 weeks off” to rest and regroup. the noise machine will try to spin it into a concession, but I wont listen. I think it may be a non-concession concession so she can jump in when the last wheels come flying off the Obama Bus in July.

that’s my worst case scenario, and it isnt that bad as long I stay away from the msm.

I trust our girl to say what she means and mean what she says, and she said she’s not out until Denver.

  17. What are you zombiephobic? And what is wrong with Xanax, Skippy could have used some yesterday night.

Not really, Michelle is going to be the bestest first lady ever.

  18. I didn’t mean that Hillary was a “doozy” of a first lady, she if just one of many characters who have passed through our campaigns. But I always loved Hillary. I, actually, loved the headbands. I thought they looked good on her. But what do I know.

  19. What are you zombiephobic
Well, only when they are eating my brain or running our government.

  20. Hey, is anyone besides me having issues with the internet today? I can’t get service at all on my iphone. It’s just bizarre.

  21. “the way we need to be forever”

    And don’t forget this one:

    Michelle Obama February 20, 2008

“Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.”

    She sounds like Pol Pot.

  22. You mean there’s MORE. I thought the Republicans had enough to make him completely unelectable already (should he be the nominee). Like a commentor on Talk Left said, this time the Republicans don’t have to lie about their opponent.

  23. RD, my iphone does that periodically (when it’s feeling down). Have you power-cycled it? That does the trick for me 9 times out of 10.

  24. Sometimes one Internet Hub goes down and if that’s the first stop for your iPhone provider, it could block your access. I think it’s provider specific. So not everyone would be affected. (I think)

  25. Before I’m off to work I just had a thought: I wonder if Timmy and Andrea and David Gergen and the gang want Obama to be the nominee so that when more stuff comes out they can decide when the breaking point is. They want their moment of righteous indignation. THEY want to choose the president.

  26. How do I power cycle an iphone? Never had to do this before. It’s always “on”.

  27. You bet there’s more bad stuff about Obama. It’s like the ginzu knife commercial – “But wait! There’s more.”

Thank goodness Hillary was tough enough to slow him down. Obama is getting vetted way too late in the game, but without Hillary he’d be the nom right now, if not sooner.

  28. Thanks Katiebird for your comment at NoQuarter

Can you guys here at Confluence comment on some of the videos of the protest that have gone up on YouTube. It would be nice to bump them up on popularity.

    Here are some links.

  29. ben: For the last two cycles “they” have been choosing the president.

RD: sure, rub it in. I don’t have an iphone 😦

  30. Upstate: :-ppppp it’s the cheap one. It only has 8 GB.

  31. The Fitz is going to go from Hero to Heartburn for a lot of bloggers. Obama will lose more than his political carreer by the time this is over.

I have been reading Evelyn Pringle for months. Rezco is a tough story to follow, but thank goodness Ms. Pringle is covering it.

I’ll bet Obama is in much deeper than any of us thought.

  32. I think it’s groupthink. A small group of corporate owners/influencers decided they’d rather have McCain, that the next best would be Obama, and that Clinton would be least good for their interests. No conspiracy or premeditated organized action was required. Subtle messages from the top can cause great avalanches of delirium. It is phenomenally easy for the MSM to find soft spots in any public figure to wound and exploit. And they will, because it’s funny, because it looks like “news”, because everyone else is doing it. All it takes is implicit permission from the top to start attacking.

Until now, there has not been an implicit permission to let the dogs out on Obama (because the top would rather have McCain, remember?). But that may be changing today. Maybe the shit on him is just too deep for the groupthinkers to resist the fun of flinging it.

Like a sparrow’s wingbeat in Chile resonating up eventually to a tsunami in Sumatra, it does not take much push to get a mob mentality in the MSM reinforcing itself and building a giant shitstorm of gleeful hatred and bile.

  33. Arabella: That’s funny in a gruesome sort of way. We Clintonistas could be shipped off to reeducation camps

  34. murphy – great comment. Are you going to post it elsewhere?

  35. RD, hold the button on the top down for a few seconds until you see a message on the screen asking you to “slide to power off.” Slide the arrow across. The phone will shut down. Wait 5 seconds. Push the button on top again until the apple logo appears on the screen. Then wait while the phone powers itself up again.

  36. re Murphy’s comment: “Maybe the shit on him is just too deep for the groupthinkers to resist the fun of flinging it.”

Yes, I was thinking that when Republicans get their hands on dirt, they’re like kids with a new present — they can’t wait to take it out and play with it.

  37. Will the children of Clintonistas be placed in “approved Dem” families?

  38. Arabella: That’s funny in a gruesome sort of way. We Clintonistas could be shipped off to reeducation camps

That’s why I keep saying that I will not got to self criticism sessions, wear a placard with my sins written on it, and wear a dunce hat. I remember the says of the Red Guard all too well. (smile)

  39. Here’s an Obama quote back in February that sent my alarm bells ringing:

When Morgan Freeman comes over to greet Obama, the senator begins bowing down both hands in worship. “This guy was president before I was,” says Obama, referring to Freeman’s turn in Deep Impact and, clearly, getting a little ahead of his own bio. Next, a nod to Bruce Almighty: “This guy was God before I was.”

    EGO

  40. My latest conspiracy theory is that Howard Dean decided to push Obama back in 2004 (that’s true) because he wanted to totally screw the Democratic Party for what they did to him.

He gets himself elected to Chairman of the DNC and convinces everyone (with Donna’s help) that this would be the ideal year to elect a black president. They can’t possibily lose this year after all that Bush has done, so why not? It will make the party look good and the world will admire us again.

And now his plan has come to fruition. The Democratic Party is at the point of total destruction and the Republicans are a shoo-in in November. Howard is laughing maniacally behind the scenes. Okay, I know it’s crazy, but….

  41. All I can say is, “Wow!”

And this is the woman they were trying to sell as Jackie O.?

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

  42. Although I always enjoy the idea of an evil mastermind, Howard Dean is just incompetent.

He’s no Tom Riddle, that’s for sure.

  43. madamab – Well, they put her in the clothes.

  44. Had to read all the post before commenting. I noticed someone said the tape would be released tomorrow. SO that would be AFTER all the primaries, and AFTER all the votes are in?

    Great, political timing.

  45. Kim, we won the popular vote anyways.

  46. Arabella,

I know. But I always try to look for logical explanations for events, even though I realize that human beings are capable of completely illogical behavior. It’s just the way my mind works.

BTW, speaking of potential first ladies, remember when Howard Dean had to keep explaining why his wife wasn’t with him campaigning? I always wondered about that. I never hear anything about his wife now. I wonder if they are still together?

    Bingo, ben.

I am firmly of the belief that he is a RW plant. It was the only way they had a shot at keeping the WH.

His constant dogwhistles to Cheney-like minders –

Hmmm….?Maybe I should pick an (R) for VP?

I’m bipartisan… I even have a bunch of (R) old farts from energy lobbies advising me

…the debate where he sneered at Clinton for being a policy wonk: I don’t dirty my hands with “paper shuffling” – some other person can decide my policy (yoo hooo Exelon CEO…yoo hooo Cheney…come to me… I go both ways)

Even his MI vote stealing at the RBC meeting Saturday. Thats RW politics.

  48. As far as I am concerned, we won it all.

  49. UpstateNY, on June 3rd, 2008 at 8:46 am Said:

  50. BB: heh. I will give you one of my tinfoil hats if you give me one of yours… deal?

  51. Plenty of ways to describe Michelle here–all true. But wow, for all the highly touted education, she really never sounds smart. At all.

  52. Arabella – A 6-foot woman like Michelle looks pretty good in most clothes.

It’s what’s inside the clothes that is so, so different.

Jackie O had grace and humility.

    Michelle O has neither.

  53. bb – I know. But I always try to look for logical explanations for events.

Moi aussi. But I am usually disappointed. It’s comforting to think that there evil masterminds who plan every last detail with cold, calculated precsion.

Alas, the evil doers are human beings. They often go by their emotions and make up the plan as they go along. They forget things. They break things. They get cranky when they are coming down with a cold. They leave messes in the kitchen. They finally get ticked off and leave in the middle of the game, or else they win and can’t be gracious about it.

  54. You know, besides the Obamacons we see on the internet, most of the Dems I know are shaking their head in total and complete disbelief. Are you guys seeing this as well?

  55. “She sounds like Pol Pot.”

    Or the Cultural Revolution.

  56. Kim: I am not sure what you mean.

  57. Arabella Trefoil,

I agree. Dean is just an idiot who got played by Kennedy and Kerry who were the real ones prodding Obozo to run in 2004.

Dean helped pave the way, though by rigging the delegate proportionality to favor BO.

  58. boston boomer – love that lovely tinfoil hat!

I do think though, I do like Dean,…. I do think the 50 state strategy is good for Dems in the long run, and if we run 51 state primaries for 3 or 4 election cycles eventually we could get more people to turn (D) so we could get a majority (D) admin and get FDR level work done that MUST BE DONE.

But it hasn’t happened yet. Obama failed to ignite the redstaters to the point where a majority of them would pick him over McCain. But if it starts getting more (D)s on school boards and city councils etc, it is the start.
And Hillary did swing the swing states our way bigtime. And that is the beginning. Next election cycle we expand her reach.

  59. Mawn: now, now, we do not call people names in this blog…right?

  60. Does Michelle O ever have anything nice to say? She’s really kind of a downer. Everthing with her is so negative. Someone needs to increase her hope and change kool-aid intake.

  61. Plural, UpstateNy et al: The Obamas ARE a cult Movement. We arent crazy.

    They have:

    Slogans unsupported by knowledge
    Confidence unsupported by achievement
    Beliefs unsupported by history
    Principles unsupported by philosophy and
    Values unsupported by experience

I wrote a post on it at Corrente-Wire. We need to wake up and realize we are in a battle with a Movement, not simply with a political faction slightly different from our own political faction.

    … truth tellers!

“A small group of corporate owners/influencers decided they’d rather have McCain, that the next best would be Obama, and that Clinton would be least good for their interests.”

Thanks all – for lowering my blood pressure this morning.

  63. Am I correct in understanding that something is coming out tomorrow about Michele via Bob Bechel who is an Obama supporter?

  64. Well yesterday, I was talking with the attorneys downstairs. They are lifelong Democrats and very active in politics here. I asked them what they thought about RBC and the events on Saturday. One of them just shook their head and walked away in disgust, one said I cannot believe the DNC, and another said he was turning in his card. Last night, talking to a friend in another state and he said he could not believe this was happening. I guess what I am saying is everyone I talk to or meet is just shaking their heads in astonishment or they are reeling with disbelief.

  65. I just came from TL and found out that Obama is also know as the “One Who Helps People Throughout the Land”. Now, that is cool. Sorry guys, but I will now be voting for Obama in the GE.

“Obama was adopted by the Montana Crow and given the name Awe Kooda Bilaxpak Kuuxshish which translates to “One Who Helps People Throughout the Land.”

  66. This morning channel surfing, I heard Clyburn say, “O has a great 48 state strategy that will go nicely with Dean’s 50 state strategy.”

First, I thought Clyburn had tutored O about geography and that the number of states where just fluid ranging from 57 down to 48, but adding Demento Dean’s 50 state strategy means he knew the difference.

Anyone heard about which states O has decided to Sodom and Gomorrahize? I might want to watch given that I like salt.

  67. oceancitygirl – Read the New Yorker interview with Michelle Obama if you want to see what she really sounds like. Worth the read.

  68. murphy: “We arent crazy.” You may not be. Wife, son and cat think I am.

  69. oceancitygirl,

Michelle is one of those people for whom the glass is always half empty, not half full. She lives in a mansion and has plenty of money, but she’s always griping about her student loans and how much she has to pay for the girls’ ballet lessons. She tries to pretend that she had it tough, but her family was middle-class, she never wanted for anything. Her dad was a union boss and part of the Daley machine. I wouldn’t be all that surprised if Obama married her for her connections. Those two deserve each other. She has to put up with his condescending, holier-than-though attitude, and he has to deal with her constant whining and complaining.

  70. Upstate,

It sounds like the some Native Americans put one over on poor Barack while snickering behind his back. That has to be snark, right?

  71. oh, riverdaughter – that puma photo – you truly nailed it!!!

That needs to be turned into the logo: the power is coiled, ready to spring.

(you could use it also for your top picture?..take it into photoshop – put it on the left and add more sky/rock to the right (clone stamp))

But how exactly it expresses the gravity-like inevitableness of the results of our anger! Its so truthy!

  72. http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2008/06/dems-settle-fla.html

What happened during that RBC secret meeting? Here’s what happened: The Obama campaign poked the Clinton campaign–and Clinton voters–in the eye in a “street” pickup game kinda way. Sort of another “middle finger” if you will.

Those 4 delegates they stole from Clinton characterized as “muscle flexing” are a real tipping point for some Democrats. They certainly are for me. And, I’ll remember those 4 delegates when I cast my vote for John McCain in November. It will be my poke in the eye to the oligarchs in the DNC and the Democratic Party. Shame on them all.

  73. BB: why don’t you like the “One Who Helps People Throughout the Land” I just want to understand “you people”, honestly.

  74. ‘“One Who Helps People Throughout the Land” Is that his Lakota name? Maybe a tribe in South Dakota honored him with a name. I’ll bet Obama was ignorant of the great honor. He wanted to be called “He who rules over the land and seas.”

Michelle’s name must be “Stands with a fist.”

  75. “Prolix, “great 48 state strategy that will go nicely with Dean’s 50 state strategy.” ”

    doesn’t that =98 states ?

  76. .com — LOL

  77. Dotcommodity: Definitely the logo. I like how she’s poised above the battle, watching, waiting, and ready!

Upstate: Oh, I’m crazy like that too — they’ve been telling me for years.

  78. Arabella: what about “stand with foot in mouth”

  79. Upstate – Perfect!

  80. {snort}

    Upstate,

As a friend, I have to tell you something:

    Put. The. Koolaid. Down.

We don’t what to lose you to the O-borg.

  81. Okay, I have been booted off the internet six times and only when I log onto this site.

  82. “One who helps people throughout the land.”

Gotta say this, WTF has he done?

  83. Washington Post May 19, 2008

    Obama Adopted Into Crow Nation

Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill.) arrives for a campaign rally in Crow Agency, Mont., May 19, 2008. (Reuters)

    By Matthew Mosk
CROW AGENCY, Mont. — Sen. Barack Obama became the first American presidential candidate to visit the reservation of the Crow Nation and in doing so was adopted into the nation under the Crow name “One Who Helps People Throughout the Land.”
    ++++

I’ll bet he wanted a cooler sounding name. Ingrate.

  84. Here is the consensus being played out today: It is over. Obama is the nominee. Accept it. Unite. Come together in November to defeat the Repubs. It is vital we display unity and coalesce. Volunteer. Donate. Get onboard. Talk to your friends. Stop bitching. Embrace. Hope, change, unity, blah, blah, blah. All over the web.

  85. dotcom: Speaking of the Puma movement, u suggested I cross-post here my post at corrente about what we (as Pumas) are facing and what we should do about it to fight the Obama movement.

I’m not sure how to post a “diary” here, or if it’s allowed or welcome. Any advice from the gracious hostesses would be welcome.

It speaks to our need to organize and stop second-guessing ourselves in terms of defying the Dem party bosses who are in the tank for Obama (tho the second-guessing and anxiety, at least here at this oasis, seems to have abated quite a bit since the RBC debacle).

  86. I know I shouldn’t be reading the corporate media, but the Adam Nagourney (aaaagh!) story this morning says that Clinton is giving her “farewell speech” tonight and later this week will suspend her campaign and endorse Obama. Furthermore, Obama has the requisite SDs ready to come out for him starting this morning and

On the Obama side, the rollout of the Congressional endorsements as the polls close on Tuesday night is intended to show that the party is coalescing behind him.

In an elaborately coordinated evening that will symbolize the shift from the primary to the general election, Mr. Obama will deliver his victory speech at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, the location, not coincidentally, of the Republican convention in August.

Didn’t Obama already do this in Iowa just about a week ago? And I thought Salazar said that they couldn’t get together on which candidate to endorse when they met yesterday?

Somebody please talk me down off the ledge! I swear I won’t pay any further attention to the corporate media today.

  87. Obama paces back and forth chain smoking.

“Dammit. ‘One Who Helps People Throughout the Land.’ I hate it . That name makes me sound like a waiter. I want a different name. Something cool like ‘Thundering Bird of Total Victory.’ Call one of our casino contacts.”

  88. anglachel is scarysmart again this morning – on the RBC vote theft:

    So?

    http://anglachelg.blogspot.com/2008/06/so.html

  89. murphy,

Riverdaughter can give you permission to post, but she’s blacked out when she’s at work. If she doesn’t respond tonight, wait until she posts something and then ask her.

  90. “is intended to show” hmm…..

we are so low info, we just don’t get with the program

  91. Pat Johnson, I say this as a friend and admirer: Put down the MSM. Just back away from the TV and the newspapers.

This political cycle is going to get a whole helluva LOT crazier. It will NOT be settling down for a long time. Those clowns on TV have no idea what they’re talking about or what they are dealing with.

They have a script. They are not thinkers. They are not writers. They are not journalists. Using their minds or their wills is not part of their job description.

They sound like lunatics because the audio no longer synchs with the video.

Hillary is winning but the script says she lost.

Obama is over but the script says he’s gaining momentum.

The msm will be catching up in a week or two.

Please, stop torturing your beautiful mind.

  92. Apparently the tape exists. Thank you Larry Johnson. This is probably what led to his “resignation” from TUUC this weekend. He knows it is explosive. I would guess some of those supers holding out are doing so as a result. Trying to find a reason to not give him their vote.

  93. Arabella:

    HAHAHAHAHHAHAH!!

That is so frickin funny !!!!!

    I love it!

  94. I did read a story recently that people have been noticing that Obama reeks of tobacco smoke these days. I guess the stress is getting to him.

  95. oh, and when I predict the MSM catching up in a week or two, I dont mean actually catching up to the present. They’ll still be way behind, but at least the audio will have some semblance to the video.

Front page of the Boston Globe this morning had headline: “Obama In Trouble?”

I didnt read it bc I’m sure it’s still saturated with kool-aid, but at least there is a beginning of the glimmer of a hope of a light dawning on Marblehead.

  96. murphy: I hear you. I have been on sabbatical so to speak from the MSM. Reading the blogs is where I picked up the “message” now in circulation. When will the MSM start to really look at him? This guy is toxic and they are promoting his candidacy? It makes such little sense to me that it is mind boggling.

  97. What murphy said.

Honestly, I don’t know why anyone pays attention to the MSM.

  98. dotcommodity,

Isn’t he getting a little ridiculous? How many times is it now that he has declared “victory?” If he is this impatient, how is he going to handle delicate negotiations as prez.

Oh wait. He’ll never be POTUS. Thank goodness!

  99. Arabella,

    Nicely done — LOL.

  100. Let’s see:

    Misogyny and Sexism
    Steal from Hillary; delegates
Lie about the status of her candidacy; despite the fact she’s WINNING BIG.
Force her to end her campaign
Force her to accept BO’s coronation and support it
Force her to convince and force her own supporters to embrace all that is “ObamaNation”

Am I forgetting anything? Cook all the meals for the convention galas? Scrub the floors and fold the laundry, while researching and writing Barry’s speech? I’m sure there’s more on that “to do” list.
    (/snark)

  101. bostonboomer: And I thought Salazar said that they couldn’t get together on which candidate to endorse when they met yesterday?

That was just the remaining Senators. (Gently) You do realize that after getting his requisite nr of dels out of SD/MT, that he only needs a handful to get to whatever the magic nr is?

  102. BB: but the voices of “the collective” are so, so, comforting….Yes, yes, now I understand….

Pat: you forgot “realist” and “realism” (or is it “magical realism.”…? ).

    Arabella: heh.

  103. “Those 4 delegates they stole from Clinton characterized as “muscle flexing” are a real tipping point for some Democrats.”

I think this is a real tipping point too.

Saturday was like Sept 28th 2007, when congress enabled the end of King John’s Magna Carta habeas corpus.

The next morning, waking up under overt fascism, I was astounded to find blue skies and yellow sunshine. Somehow, I thought we would go to grainy black and white.

Anglachel nails it this morning with:

    So?

  104. “Cook all the meals for the convention galas? Scrub the floors and fold the laundry, while researching and writing ”

yeah ed, yesterday he thanked her for being “a great public servant”

  105. hlr, the magic number is disputed. There will be no legitimate nominee until Denver when the credentials committee meets. Only Hillary can make Obama the nominee right now by conceding, and when has she shown the willingness to do that?

  106. Hillary, please do not concede. Make them earn this fraudulent coronation. On behalf of PUMAs do not let them take this without a fight.

  107. #
Escoffier, on June 3rd, 2008 at 7:32 am Said:

Boy can she be baited easily. The Republicans are going to give her a nervous breakdown.

OK – I’m sorry. I can’t help myself. She can be baited easily and the republicans are master baiters.

    I’m running for cover now.

  108. Mawm — the magic number is disputed. There will be no legitimate nominee until Denver when the credentials committee meets.

We read the tea leaves a little differently, which surprises me, since you were actually at that rigged meeting 🙂

The nominee has been chosen for us. This has been clear for some time, IMO. She may have been able to make something of it, if the pledged delegate count had been closer (say 50-75).

Second, the Clintons, for all intents and purposes, have been abandoned by a huge chunk of former allies/fair weather friends. That makes taking it to the convention extremely difficult. People need to have your back, and I don’t see any support for this action. We’ve had Vilsack and others basically saying ‘no’ in public.

I’ve read that tonight’s speech is expected to basically be a pitch for the VP slot. Hurl. I’m not going to listen — and will check in to get the opinions of others. Speaking for myself, I am strongly against this VP business, but that’s a story for another day.

  109. Hillary is not going to resign. Hillary is going to win.

  110. Dotcom said: “If he is this impatient, how is he going to handle delicate negotiations as prez.”

    That’s right, Obama is:
    Impatient
    Impolite
    Imperious
    Immature
    Implicated
    Implausible
    Immodest
    Imploding and
    Impotent

    Meanwhile, Hillary is
    Impervious
    Impressive
    Imaginative
    Implacable
    Immense and
    IMMINENT

  111. Pat Johnson — yes, I’d like to see as many SDs express their pref as possible to get a tally. I don’t think a formal concession is happening tonight.

  112. Hillary, do not concede. Our country is at stake. The other two guys will drive us deeper into the mud. You are the ONE we need! You’re the best!

  113. How ironic that “kool-aid” as a rhetorical device started with the Jim Jones mess, because she really and truly is in Jim Jones territory with this one.

    “They’re liars!”

WTF? This IMHO is WAY worse than anything alleged so far to be on that Farrakhan party tape.

  114. Hillary’s inner circle is rock solid. Hillary knows what’s going on. She knows how to outwit and outlast the competition.

She will be a great president. One of the greatest in our history.

The Senator from Illionois, now adopted into the Crow Tribe, will enjoy traveling to and fro helping people through out the land. He’ll have to eat his tribal totem first.

And tonight we’ll bring you glad tidings from New York. Cue van morrison.

  115. Gee, I wonder what Jonah Goldberg will say about censorship coming from her. Not good thing, overall. For Pumas and other living things.
RD. You have kept all those names away from here. They haven’t even started in on what they will do, I don’t think. But I know this, the real bloggers aren’t liars. It’s those censoring, paid off bloggers that?
But I guess she is saying not to trust anyone, by that. Cross post anyone? Wow, RD. It’s a sad day to see a Dem not be honest.

PUMAS, though? — don’t tolerate certain climates well, do they?

  116. I’ve read that tonight’s speech is expected to basically be a pitch for the VP slot.

    Wrong.

And we’ll send you glad tidings from New York
Open up your eyes sa you may see
Ask you not to read between the lines
Hope that you will come in right on time
And they’ll talk to you while you’re in trances
And you’ll visualize not taking any chances
But meet them halfway with love, peace and persuasion
And expect them to rise for the occasion
Don’t it gratify when you see it materialize
Right in front of your eyes
    That surprise

  117. BB, my reply to your comment about Obama’s impatience might have been filtered.

And thanks for the tip about asking RD. I hope she got her poor iPhone working. I get depressed when mine acts up.

  118. Okay guys they’re trying to suppress voter turnout in MT and SD. Go and call and write.

They need to know it isn’t over.

  119. Hillary said that there is no nominee until the SD votes are tallied and they can change all the way up until the convention. This does not sound like someone aout to concede.

  120. Riight, just like before Puerto Rico, they’re trying to suppress votes.

  121. If Hillary concedes to this man I will never forgive her or the Clintons. CNN says she will do that tonight. I wonder if this is a ploy from the Clintons.

  122. If she were to concede to this man after what has happened this week, I will regret that I ever gave her a dime.

  123. re media catching up: I just watched a video embedded on the first page of Rezkowatch. It is a CNN segment that aired 6/1/08 and covered how Obama got Alice Palmer and his other rival off the ballot. Closing lines are about Daley-Axelrod-Obama connection. Good piece, but way late.

  124. She is NOT going to concede. She’s about to turn the corner.

“So believe no lies, dry your eyes and realize
    That surprise
La, la, la, la la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la…”

  125. It’s a ploy. She will only “concede” that he has more delegates than she does. That’s all.

Don’t be belive the media. They’re so 1999.

  126. hlr,
Sure, I agree that the meeting was stacked against Clinton adn there is a lot of pressure, but unless Clinton gives in, No one can stop her from taking it to Denver. They can try to ridicule her to quit, but haven’t they been trying to do that since Iowa?

Even if one assumes that Hillary Clinton is nothing more than a cold-hearted politician who only cares about herself(just for the sake of argument), she really cannot quit now. She has cultivated the image of a strong fighting woman, who soldiers on through the most difficult looking obstacles. She has a lot of women looking up to her. If she were not to fight on, she would throw away that image, and a powerful image it is. It is the supreme image to have in any politcal contest. I just don’t think she has any option, but to take it to Denver.

  127. Stop watching CNN. They don’t know anything.

The haka is magnititude 7.8 on the Rumplestiltskin scale. Hillary is about to win big.

Come on PUMA’s – let’s prowl and growl.

  128. “It’s a ploy. She will only “concede” that he has more delegates than she does. That’s all.”

And we don’t actually know what she will say; this is a media clip.

  129. At this point, the Clintons are among the FEW Dem. pols I could forgive — given the incredible circumstances. However, I wouldn’t vote for Obama, for president, even if Bill and Hillary invited me for a relaxing evening of dinner and thoughtfully intelligent and stimulating conversation. Not. Gonna. Happen.

  130. But this is going to cause her SD supporters to stay home. What is going on???

  131. Mind games by the media; that’s what’s going on.

  132. If you’re not at work, please make some calls for Hillary. That’s the best thing we could be doing.

  133. Last night so many supporters made calls, they finished their lists early….

  134. Michele is so full of fertilizer! This blog, along with several others, does not tolerate lies. Anyone who misspeaks is soon corrected. Name calling is not tolerated but a daily does of “snark” is.

The only time insults appear is when a visiting troll intrudes and is soon vanquished. If one of us gets their facts wrong, another leaps in with a correction. No hurt feelings since we all rely on one another for truth and facts.

So stuff it, Michele. Your brand of truth and hateful speech is not tolerated. Even by chance you were a Hillary supporter I doubt that you would have lasted very long with us.

  135. I can forgive either Clinton anything, considering what’s been done to them.

And my faith that they know what they are doing.

But that doesn’t mean I would vote against my conscience.

  136. ps–just read all the comments–murphy get a blog free from wordpress, write it up and you can link to RD.

Arabella Trefoil, whovever you are, your wit has that razor sharp o my god, it’s the big buck gaming $$$$$$$$$. Anyway, Arabella you remind me of one of my idols–Dorothy Parker.

  137. FoxNews just reported that HIllary is back in New York and will make her concession speech from Manhattan tonight. I’m heartbroken but ready to help John McCain win the presidency.

  138. She will not concede tonight. She will celebrate a wonderful campaign. There will be lots of thank yous.

    She will use this line:

I have too few votes (delegates) to declare victory, but too many to admit defeat.

As Pres. Bill said, “We are in this until the last dog dies,” and IMHO that last dog’s name is “Whitey.”

  139. Terry Mac just called Bullshit on the AP story on CNN. Breathe everybody.

    It’s a tactic.

  140. If these are careful leaks to the press, she is certainly ginning up anticipation about her speech.

  141. Lucinda, please read the thread above. She is not conceding.

  142. vbonnaire – Thanks! I love Dorothy Parket.

  143. I really hate the corporate media.

    Party
    Unity
    My
    Freckled
    Ass!!!

  144. Is the AP part of the “someone else’s opinion” ?

Nah, the AP is ALWAYS about facts, not opinion. Plus journalist do never, EVER lie (unlike bloggers) Too professional for that.

  145. I read the thread above.
What I just saw on television did not come from the “pundits”. It was reported from the journalist who has been following her campaign. It was reported from outside her house in New York where she just arrived. I cried when I realized what was happening, and then I got up more determined than ever not to vote for Obama under any circumstances.

  146. Why do you believe a “journalist” when all they have done is lie to us?

  147. Well… Lucinda, all I can say is, I understand how you feel.

Lets wait though, and see what happens tonight.

  148. Lucinda, last time darling, HRC is not conceding.

The campaign just made a statement. Turn to CNN or Faux. They’ve changed their tune and they are not happy people on the Clinton side.

They’re trying to suppress the votes because data shows BO does best with low turnout.

  149. It’s tragic to see a person enter her own home after a long trip. Gut wrenching.

I’m thinking of Hillary putting on a pair of comfy jeans and a hoodie. Putting on some good music and fixing herself a snack.

Then taking a quick nap and getting dolled up for tonight’s celebration. She’s puttin’ on her dancing shoes because she know she’s got Obama cornered.

No wonder some people are crying.

  150. Mawm: no nominee until the SD votes are tallied

Agree, but that’s just common sense. You can’t collect delegates until the votes are in.

cultivated the image of a strong fighting woman, who soldiers on through the most difficult looking obstacles.

Remember the MLK Jr/LBJ spat? She made it clear that she’s a politician, not an activist or movement leader.

Here’s what I see. This primary has revealed a pecking order within the D-party, with women and LGBT at the bottom.

I’ve thought for a long time (long before this primary) that there should be a natural political alliance between women and LGBT. In my state, the LGBT activists are really, really angry because they put a lot of money/time into the Gov race (O’Malley) and he’s not delivering on promises. The problem is they don’t have the numbers for serious political pressure.

Women OTOH, are subjected to serious divide-and-conquer strategies. We can agree that not all women have the same outlook on political priorities, but I think there are a sufficient nr, esp in alliance w/ other groups for critical mass.

It is foolish to put all of your eggs in one basket, particularly when it’s a politician’s basket. This primary has shown me that the issues go far beyond the political ambitions of one individual.

In the not so different future, we’ll see calls for compliance at places like TL, TM. Here, or at least from people like me, you’ll see calls for seditious behavior. What I mean by this — if Team Dem isn’t doing much for you, it’s time for some change and reform.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for 😉

  151. If she were to concede, I would lose all faith. I’m not sure what faith is left to lose but she is the only reason I believe in any part of this system right now.

  152. “Remember the MLK Jr/LBJ spat?”

How did this prove anything about Hillary except that people will say the stupidest things about her?

  153. I’ve got some good news and an Open Thread just posted….

  154. I like Jeralyn and Taylor. Compliance/Sedition…what to do, what to do.

I want to see Hillary with a hoodie tonight, during her “concession speech” Hey she may as well be comfy (sp?)

    The sky is not falling.

  155. “Lucinda, last time darling, HRC is not conceding.”

Don’t call me darling. That’s as demeaning as being called “sweetie”. Thank you very much.
I’m a loyal Hillary supporter to the end. I’ve donated money to her campaign when I really didn’t have the money to spare. (My husband has been out of work since February.) So don’t treat me like a troll. I was very upset when I heard this news.
FoxNews has now amended it story. They now say that she is not conceding. She is merely going to suspend her campaign until August. I guess we won’t know the real truth until she actually makes her speech tonight.

  156. Pardon me, but what if we wait until the news actually IS the news, and then react to whatever it might be? Will anyone feel better mourning in advance if in fact the “we just make this up as we go along” members of the media are correct and Senator Clinton concedes? I prefer to take my disasters as they actually happen, and to remain in hope of better days as a default position.

  157. hlr,
the problem is the Democratic Party has lost all of its principles.

I am a Clintonista. I have more faith in the Clintons than I do the entire rest of the party. I wish it were not so. I wish the party stood for principles and I could vote Democratic no matter who it was.
I understand the dangers of the cult of personality, but I believe there is a really strong case that a US run by HRC would be wonderful, but a US run BO would be a disaster.
I will continue to work for the Clintons. The party can go to hell as this point.

  158. Hir, amen sister.

We ARE a movement, but not the kind that needs a fascistic figurehead to imbue with us with imaginary power.

Hillary is our hero, but she is not our Leader. She represents our interests and her words/actions resonate with our own political beliefs and principles. For those reasons, we support her as a the leader of the country.

We have power already. We never needed any politician to give it to us.

You’re right. There is a natural coalition/allegiance among most of the voting groups the O Movement has tried to silence — women, lgbt, old people, immigrants, racial and ethnic minorities, the very poor, union workers, rural people, and sick people.

What unites us is something somewhat counter-intuitive: namely, vulnerability. Our vulnerability to the majority when they depict us as outcast, unwanted, disassociated from the mainstream.

We are vulnerable when we are isolated, powerful when united. The power structures in our culture label us “minority” or “special interest” even when we are neither, and only to make us weak and keep us divided.

The Obama Movement has despicably exploited our need to stay united how Big Brother is THAT, unity pony my ass!

  159. Riverdaughter, you are going to need to purchase more bandwidth. I love Talkleft but I don’t think I’ll be able to post too much over there if a certain thing happens.

  160. BO is a uniter. We have become united in our opposition to him.

  161. Let’s be kind to each other. Everyone is feeling very lost right now. We have all invested so much time and interest in this race that we need to stand together as the PUMAs we are.

Ms. Marple is right. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The media just stirs up the pot to create ratings.

  162. Ben, I’ve already lost faith — just not in Hillary.

Both the DNC and MSM have colluded to rig this primary. Never underestimate the amount of enmity against all things Clinton from corporate-owned media and those also-ran pols who have forever been relegated into the Clinton’s shadows.

The MSM has, since forever, tried to convince us that we’re the ones who despise Pres. Bill and Sen. Clinton. No, more like they’re simply trying to project onto us what they habor — to no avail. Because, when all is said and done, Bill and Hillary will continue to prove more invaluable to the Democratic Party, American politics and international relations.

  163. I fully agree with Ms. Marple. Now, I know how you solve all those mysteries…

  164. Lucinda, dont worry — Edwardian knows you are not a troll. That’s his style of talking. The term was meant fondly, not condescendingly.

I hate to see you feel bad about the news, but remember, that’s the job of the news — to make you feel bad. It’s as bad as Pravda — just dont watch or read it. They are lunatics.

  165. Pat: me too!

  166. Murphy:

We ARE a movement, but not the kind that needs a fascistic figurehead to imbue with us with imaginary power.

Hillary is our hero, but she is not our Leader. She represents our interests and her words/actions resonate with our own political beliefs and principles. For those reasons, we support her as a the leader of the country.

We have power already. We never needed any politician to give it to us.

    Exactly. Well said.

  167. murphy: What unites us is something somewhat counter-intuitive: namely, vulnerability.

And props to you for admitting it.

  168. As Hillary said, we need a president not a *feeling*

  169. Murphy – I think you’ve mistaken someone else’s remarks as mine – “edwardian”. I was not the poster who referred to Lucinda as “darling”.

  170. Edwardian, SORRY. It was Regency. You two have a similarly bold and humorous style (at least in my fevered mind).

I do still think the “darling” was meant fondly rather than snarkily.

  171. You do that Harriet.

  172. No problemo. 🙂

  173. ProblemA…..edwardian, ALWAYS with an A….

    Hasta la vista BABY!

  174. lucinda, et al.

Don’t predespair. Under Fascism there is no more media.
    Check her site.

She will post anything she wants to say to us at any time. And get it without the filter.

Preplan, though: we may be about to be hounded off talkleft.

“Going along” with the officious presumptuous nominee may require outward head nodding till August…

but remember the Puma can’t stay up on that rock forever.

  175. What a great photo!

    PUMA POWER!!

Michelle is a liar herself. She has zero moral authority and class to even say that.

Don’t give in my PUMAs, we are the majority in the so-called democratic Party. PUMAs can kill donkeys ya know – and we will not submit just because the “party bosses” say so.

  176. PLEASE GO TO LOBBY DELEGATES. It’s really easy. Just make sure you pick the email option before you preview your letter. It’s free or you can make a donation.
Let your states SD’s know how you feel about Hillary.

    https://www.lobbydelegates.com

  177. Go Here for more infomation on Louis Farrakhan. Notice who is speaking.

  178. Come on – if he had the votes, he would have rolled them out already. He isn’t exactly tactful or anything.

ALSO – SDs can name preferences but they REALLY DON’T COUNT until they ACTUALLY VOTE… doesn’t matter if they all declare today – they can still change. It doesn’t give him the magic number – even if he and the MSM claim it does. Oh wait, maybe donna brazille will claim it fits within the DNC rulz?

We do have power – obama people wouldn’t be coming here to berate us – if we didn’t have power with our votes.

  179. […] Tuesday: Michelle calls us liars Posted on June 3, 2008 by riverdaughter […]

  180. I don’t believe she’s conceeding or suspending for a minute.

If so, why has she fought so hard these past weeks? Just to humiliate Obama and show what a weak, pathetic candidate he is? No, she’d be entitled to any type of payback she wants after how she’s been treated by this party, but she’s way too loyal for that.

She’s doing it because Obama would lose, and she will win in Nov. And it’s not too late.

We’re going to the convention, and the superdelegaes have almost 3 months to figure it out.
