Offering Clinton Money to “take a dive”

If this is true, it is the most despicable thing I’ve ever read. Thomas Edsall at Huffpo has a post called “Big Rewards Await Clinton If She Ends Campaign Now”:

One of the most inviting is the near certainty that the Obama campaign would agree to pay back the $11.4 million she has loaned her own bid, along with an estimated $10 million to $15 million in unpaid campaign expenses.

“If she leaves the stage gracefully, as Gore did in 2000, she will be able to rebuild her political capital within the party fairly quickly, and over time most of her perceived and real sins will be long forgiven and/or forgotten,” said Dan Gerstein, a Democratic consultant and Obama supporter.

Hey, remember Dan Gerstein? Danger Stein the political operative for Joe Lieberman of Independent Democrats for Lieberman? Yeah, how did that turn out for us in CT and the senate?

And there’s that word again, “gracefully”. I’ll tell you what, elections were never won by the graceful. They are won by the tough. I applaud her for turning this offer down cold but it is becoming increasingly clear that Obama and the DNC will stop at nothing to secure the nomination and take us all down the road to perdition.

The Big Boyz’ Haka has been very successful in shutting down the Clinton campaign’s ability to raise funds. She most likely has a treasure chest of money she can use to fund herself in the General Election but she can’t touch it right now. Now is the time to reward her for not taking a dive. If you’ve got it, send it. If you don’t, ask someone else to do it for you.
Just do it.

  1. Bless their hearts! My vote’s not for sale.

  2. Gore made a huge mistake leaving “gracefully”. Her sins? Jesus, this Party is so sexist. I am definately never going to vote for Obama.

  3. Of course Hillary is running a campaign on 4 hours of sleep, criss crossing the country to shouts of “get out”, facing a hostile press, being portrayed as a racist, making numerous stops trying to get OUR message out, just to have Obama pay her bills! What a novel and brilliant idea on her part. You have to hand it to her, she is cunning right up to the end. There must be a dearth of integrity coming out of his campaign to have this one “float” for our consideration.

  4. Hah! They can’t beat the woman, so they want to buy her off. Wow, she must really be getting under their skin since she won’t sit down and shut up and hand over the nom to the noobie! Oh good lord, how many times have a lot of women been told to sit down and shut up. Fight them, Hillary. Keep fighting. We’re right here behind you and we are armed to the teeth with credit cards. 🙂

  5. Is it just me? I’m tired of the cowardly superdelegates who are driving this call for Hillary to drop out.

If they feel that they can’t deny the nomination to an African American who will have a small pledged delegate lead, then stand up and say so.

If they feel that Hillary is the better candidate, then stand up and say so.

If they feel Obama is the better candidate in Nov, then stand up and say so.

All of this BS is fundamentally due to the cowardice of the SDs who don’t want to take a stand and PO one faction or the other. They want to have it both ways, so the media harassment of Hillary is A-OK with them.

    The Democrats disgust me.

  6. hlr: “If they feel that they can’t deny the nomination to an African American who will have a small pledged delegate lead, then stand up and say so.” They will never admit it. Never. They are fear driven, pure and simple. Woohoo, go spineless Democrats! 😦

  7. This sounds like something done in gangster movies. I just watched “The Narrow Margin” (the original), where the bad guys try to bribe the honest cop to turn over his protected witness, so they can kill her. He wads up the money and thrusts it back at them. It’s real old-style, Chicago blood-money politics for Obama, isn’t it? Next, they’ll dangle her out the window or threaten Chelsea.

  8. Tell me this is nothing but someone’s idea of a twisted, distorted “missive” in an effort to drive an even deeper wedge between the factions of Dem. supporters. Good grief …

This should go over really swell with those disaffected supporters of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

  9. ufa — yeah, holla for spineless Dems! Woot!

They’re really making me sick. Sitting on their asses while the media prints up magazine covers of the “winner”. Watching a colleague get mercilessly harassed just so that they don’t have to make a decision.

  10. “over time most of her perceived and real sins will be long forgiven and/or forgotten”

    Oh how generous of him.

  11. What about what Ted Kennedy did to Jimmy Carter in 1980? I don’t remember him having to do any penance for that, and we got Reagan AND a Republican Senate out of it.

  12. Re: The upcoming issue of TIME.

It’s good to know that the Fourth Estate is watching out for our interests once again. Bless their hearts, too!

  13. Gracefully. Why do I have the image of “The Dying Swan” in my head when I hear that word?

  14. I just sent anouther donation to Hillary and mailed my pledge payment as well. I can only send small amounts (I guess I am her ‘demographic’)…its never more than $100 and usually $25 – $50. I also ordered some buttons.

Thank you for your post it lifted my heart.

  15. “over time most of her perceived and real sins will be long forgiven and/or forgotten”

What?! who died and made him God?

  16. Kind of gives you an idea as to how Obama influences Super Delegates (especially Bill “Judas” Richardson).

  17. Kinda reminds me of ‘A Wonderful Life’. The bad dude Potter(Obama) tries to buy the bank from Jimmy Stewart (Hillary (of course)), but that would turn the town into Pottersville (Hopy and Change Town),so Stewart (Hillary) says thanks anyway… the bank depositors (thats us!!) bail out the bank (contribute to Clinton’s campaign) and save the town (the USA). I just love happy endings.

  18. Honora!!!

I’d like to post this with little faces in place of the candidates names….

    This is just perfect! Thanks.

  19. Love Child, you think that BO paid off Richardson’s debts? I wonder why that bit of generosity wouldn’t have been leaked?

  20. Oh, snap! No, hold on, did someone mention Bill Richardson?!! I tell ya’, if I hear or see that man anytime soon I’m gonna wrap myself up in cellophane and roast myself at 375 degrees! What an ineffectual gasbag. How he ever get on the ticket I’ll never know.

I love my mom’s take on Richardson – she said she’d laugh at him because the Clintons put him in so many jobs that never seemed to stick.

  21. Their condescension just makes Hillary stronger. Rise, Hillary, rise.

  22. Seems like our side is fighting made too. This is from a few weeks ago but still relevant.

Clinton Backer Weinstein Threatens Pelosi Over Revote

“In a heated phone call with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi late last month, Hillary Clinton supporter Harvey Weinstein threatened to cut off campaign money to congressional Democrats unless Pelosi embraced a new plan by the movie mogul to finance a revote of the Democratic presidential primaries in Florida and Michigan, according to three officials who were briefed on the contents of the conversation..”

  23. KB- it is all yours, I don’t do that internet stuff very well.

  24. Wow–Dan Gerstein is now forgiving sins? I thought the reason Hillary was hated so much by the blogger boys is that she’s the worst Lieberman-DLC clone, worse than Joe himself, vs. the strongest progressive of any age.

Vote Obama, DLC good, girls bad. Thanks for letting me know, Dan.

  25. This is a disgusting trap and Hill is too smart to bite.

If she leaves the stage gracefully, as Gore did in 2000, she will be able to rebuild her political capital within the party fairly quickly, and over time most of her perceived and real sins will be long forgiven and/or forgotten,”

This is such lying steaming bullshit… it would be political suicide for Hill to be bought off. They don’t only want her just gone now, but finished s a political force . Who do they think they are dealing with? You see Hill has been though all this ( and more ) before with this crowd…during Monica, The Press etc. wanted her to leave Bill so bad, they were nice and all concern troll to her for 10 days. When it became obvious Hillary wouldn’t be a party to over turning an US election over a blow job, they went back to being hateful again.

Hill KNOWS these fookers and she sees though their lying shit. She must be LAUGHING!!!! If the Dems want to win , they must seat Fla& Mi & back Hill. If they don’t then I don’t know what. But she must be getting to them to hve them trot this crap out. HILLARY 08

  26. Wasn’t Rocky offered money to take a dive too?
