The Protest with Pics

Protest today at Rockefeller plaza

NewHamster has the details of the protest this morning. (Going was always a long shot with me and got longer when I woke up too late to catch the train)

But Hoorah! for the people who showed up! The signs were colorful enough. Maybe we can do it again in another venue.

Here is another gallery of pictures from this morning.

Obama describes small town PA voters to wealthy CA donors:

…when he spoke to a group of his wealthier Golden State backers at a San Francisco fund-raiser last Sunday, Barack Obama took a shot at explaining the yawning cultural gap that separates a Turkeyfoot from a Marin County. “You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them,” Obama said. “And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Obama made a problematic judgment call in trying to explain working class culture to a much wealthier audience. He described blue collar Pennsylvanians with a series of what in the eyes of creamy Californians might be considered pure negatives: guns, clinging to religion, antipathy, xenophobia.

This ought to go over big. Bitter enders….

  2. Obama = Kerry 2.0 among rural people

  3. I see a few very young and good looking people in the pics. Are they spies??

  4. Riverdaughter: I asked around for you at Friday’s NYC media protest, but people said you hadn’t made it, which you’ve confirmed here. Another time.

I’ve posted my report and commentary of the event on my blog with a couple of photos. A reader, who’s a HillaryClintonForum.net member and MI voter said that our efforts were a bonding experience for her, which I thought was great! They so need a boost! Glad we (all) could help.
