    • God As Idea, By Eric Anderson
I woke up last night feeling like I was suffocating, because in my dream I was. It began in a church, or an old university lecture hall. Antique. And everyone in attendance was being asked to say little prayers honoring Jesus. Everyone was reciting little prayers that are common among the devout. But when it was my turn, I stood and exclaimed: Jesus was a ph […]

MI and FL would count if the DNC wanted them to

kabukiCorrente has a little ditty on the MI and FL delegations and how Obama approves of counting them in, as long as they don’t really count, if you get my drift. And who can blame him? There are a lot of delegates, Hillary delegates, at stake.

But let’s be honest about this: these two states were penalized by a technicality while three other states (IA, NH and SC) were not penalized at all for flouting the rules. And everyone can see through this kabuki. We know that they know that we know that there are forces inside the DNC who are trying their damndest to tip the scales in Obama’s favor.

It doesn’t sound very Democratic to me. But I am not at all surprised that Obama is cool with it.

Note to Vastleft:  I’m not at all sure that the Hillary supporters are going to be as sanguine about losing the nomination as you suggest.  It’s just that our anger and disappointment will likely not manifest itself in hysterical fits and petulance.  It will be a lot more subtle and long lasting than that and party insiders should ask themselves if they really want to go there if they like their current jobs.

  1. Won’t be any media appearances (Donna Brazell) threatening to leave the party. Won’t be any marches on the DNC (Sharpton). But just because there are no public displays, doesn’t mean that there will be no ramifications to the party in November or in the future.

  3. frankly, I dont think we should be matching the Obamabratz in threats. But that is just my opinion.

  4. Judith: It’s not a threat. I think it’s very well considered action. If your party heads are going to rig the game, you gotta ask yourself if those the kind of people you want running your party. I can’t remember a primary season where it’s ever been this messed up.

snark aside, I’m not going to let the Republicans run the WH for another 4 years if I can help it. But one of the reasons why I *don’t* support Obama in th primaries is because as a leader, I expect him to discourage his supporters from making these threats. Instead, he seems to be encouraging them. That’s not presidential and you won’t see Hillary doing it because *she* knows what’s at stake.

  5. I am really thinking about posting now, isn’t that crazy??

  6. ghost2: YESSS!! I need a break. Please post. Please.
Did I send you an invite?

  7. What’s crazy is I was going to write a very long comment after that venting about this topic, then I forgot about it. Then I was about to comment on another thread and press ‘submit’ on this one!!

I just sent you an email. So, please let me know when you get it. Thanks.

  8. Hey Riverdaughter – I read it differently. I have whiplash for the Obamabratz.

  9. ghost2: That email was “fabulous”. How did you ever make that connection?

  10. ?

  11. ghost2,
That was just what I needed for breakfast.Thanks.

  12. ghost2: someone has been using your name in the comments if that wasn’t you who sent me the email,

  13. I did not join the democratic party 30+ years ago to see them turn into the republican party with rigged elections and seeing the some votes do not count. After going after the biased Media for years and years then the media says something they wanted to hear and all you see is support for the media, (Orange blog then-Media wrong, Orange blog now- Media is right) what changed. What I find most shameful are the ones wanting to shut it down while it is still anyone’s game. And let us be honest, It is a SD game now, neither can get the winning number of pledged delegates without SD’s, unless you don’ t count all the votes and states that cast votes for Hillary. I think the best way to make Obama look legitimate is to take all the states away that went for Hillary and then he can win in a landslide. The media would not question it or the blogger boiz.
