    • The Decline & Fall Of The Soviet Union
Our society seems fascinated by the fall of empires and nations. You rarely see a book on the “birth” of Rome, say, it’s the collapse we care about. In this I’m a bit odd, I prefer the creation period, the early years when everything goes right, to the fall, but it’s important to see that death precedes birth. The Czars fall, the Soviets rise… The Soviets fa […]

What have you done for me lately?

Hillary recites her CV:

Yeah, she f%^&’ed up on the IWR. Badly. Monumentally badly.

If her good points didn’t outweigh her one major screw up, I could never support her. I think she is the ONLY candidate who is capable of getting us out as carefully as possible. Obama is great. If this were four years in the future, I could reevaluate his candidacy with more crititcal thought. But he is too much of a tabula rasa to me (but with RonK’s enlightening post below, considerably less so).

If it were just the war, Obama might have the upper hand. But it is NOT just the war. It’s the economy, stupid. That’s why Hillary comes our on top. This year, experience *does* matter.

  1. Yes, it’s still the economy, stupid. And competence.

I keep thinking of that song too.. 🙂 I know he used to do nice stuff for you, but what has he done for you lately??

  2. DariaG!, so glad you could drop in! Did you see RonK’s post? Excellent stuff.

Yes, I hear Janet Jackson (minus the gold encrusted nipple) everytime I hear Hillary have to tell us why she deserves to be president. Barack doesn’t face quite the same kind of scrutiny.

  3. Todd Beeton at MyDD has this from Clinton surrogate Rep. Maxine Waters:

People in my district have a lot of hope. They go to bed hungry, they have trouble heating their homes but they have a lot of hope that things will get better. They don’t need more hope, they need help.

  4. RonK: that’s a great statement by Maxine Waters. It’s like asking people to live on love.
As we say here near Amish country: “kissing don’t last; cookin’ do.”
    She cooks; he kisses.

  5. Some of you Hilli-ites spend so much time believing she’s the Annointed One that you forget she’s got bumps and warts. I especially like the part wherein the Obama bashers ask whether he’s served in uniform.

The irony there is not lost when comparing his service to that of Bill’s or the sexist expectation that Hillary should not be questioned as to her time in uniform.

Love the youtube. Might just borrow it.

  6. ?
His military service or lack thereof is moot. Hillary doesn’t have any either. We’re saying that REPUBLICANS arer going to make a big deal about it. It will be one of those dominant themes that will completely drown out any message of hope he wants to run on in the fall. The difference is that she’s covered her ass in the national security area and he hasn’t.
Look, if you’re going to hang out here, you’re going to have to pay better attention or go away before we taunt you again.

  7. That’s okay. If you taunt me, my feelings won’t be hurt. Afterall, I still live in pennsyltucky. In Amish country no less. Oh yeah… speaking of taunting. You reference living “near Amish country.” I wasn’t aware of any Amish communities in New Jersey.

  8. Well, that just goes to show you how much you know about NJ. There happens to be a couple of Amish farmer’s markets near me in NJ; one in Franklin and one in Flemmington. Presumably, they come from just over the Delaware in the Bucks county area. :-p
And my mom and siblings live in Harrisburg and York county Pennsylvania. You might even know them. Heck, you might even BE one of them.
    Now, run along.
