    • The Flynn Pardon Is The Right Thing To Do + Mishandling Russia
So, Michael Flynn has been pardoned by Trump. His crime was lying to the FBI about talking to the Russians before Trump was inaugurated. Even a man like Trump can do the right thing occasionally, usually for the wrong reasons. It is entirely reasonable and routine for a President-elect’s advisors to talk to foreign governments. […]

Cocktail hour

RicoYeah, Florida! Home of “The Mouse” and green slime. May your delegates be seated. Now, onto SuperDuper Tuesday!

Welcome everyone to the Clinton Cocktail Hour. I am your hostess, Goldberry. This is the time of day when we remember we’re all on the same side and we toast each other. To the left of the door, you will find Rico, our bartender with flair! Tonight’s featured cocktail is a *Jersey Girl*, which, I guess is what I am after all these years. But if that’s not to your liking, order anything you like.

Tonight’s entertainment is provided by a musician who’s no stranger to progressives, Bruce Springsteen. You can find his new CD Magic at iTunes or amazon. This is the title cut:

If this were summer, I’d offer you some sunwarmed Jersey tomatoes and tree ripened white peaches and we’d eat them on the Jersey side of the Delaware after floating down the river on our innertubes with sixpacks of beer strapped to the side. But it’s winter and it’s cold and dreary outside so we need something warm and toasty. The waiters will be circulating shortly with some crispy fried calamari with marinara and asparagus tempura with citrus-cilantro ponzu for the vegans.

Trigger words really aren’t practical in a bar so feel free to hang them up, along with your dripping umbrella, with Florence, our lovely checkroom attendant.

Please drink responsibly and tip your wait staff generously.

  1. Something light tonight, Rico, please. Maybe just the vanilla vodka with a spritz of soda, if you don’t mind?

  2. Make mine a Florida Iced Tea – just something to sip while I digest those exit polls … and some of that crispy calimari.

  3. Hey there Goldberry!
    What’s happening with the polls?
    I’ll have a pinot noir

  4. Hey Gold I just hopped over from the cocktail hour I’m hosting in your honor.

  5. They ran out of food over at Hampsters party. Mind if I join yours? I ate a whole bag of chips there, so maybe it’s partly my fault.

  6. I’m so glad the tradition continues on Dkos but I’m reduced to lurker status over there. 😦
Still, keep up the good times! You are the friendliest bunch on the big orange satan.

Just got back from shopping for cell phones for the adolescent. AT&T is WAAAAY more expensive than the others for a rate plan for a PDA. No text messages with the voice minute plan? WTF? I don’t even use the minutes I have. I’d be buying 450 minutes for, er, nothing actually. I’ve probably made more calls to AAA than anyone else.
fuckity-fuck-fuck-fuck, I really wanted to trade in my treo for an iPhone but there goes my raise with the stoopid rate plan.

  7. Edwards is the man on the bubble. He’s at 15% in the returns, with 67% reporting. Might make statewide viability, might not.

Probably viable in less than half the Congressional Districts, where most of the delegates are allocated. Upshot? More del’s for HRC, more del’s for BHO, more delegate margin for HRC … she might do quite a bit better in delegate share than her bare 50%+ in the raw vote.

Will delegates count? It may depend how bad Dem’s need Florida in November.

  8. RonK: Ooo, good point, I hadn’t thought about November. I was thinking that Ted Kennedy is the resident expert at wresting delegates away from potential nominees. It will be interesting to see how Florida plays out.

Rico, another Vanilla Absolut, por favor.

  9. Exit poll nuggets:

HRC does better (by a mere 2% each) with black women than BHO does with non-black men, and better with white women than BHO does with nonwhite men.

  10. Hi, gang!

My favorite cross tab nugget: like NH, Hillary won 25-29. This was enough that she even took 18-29.

Unless someone makes a major gaffe in the next few days, O is toast.

Ya’ll notice the digs Hillary’s making, encouraging conjecture about going to court in Fla, and about the SOTU snub? Every time the Obama campaign takes this kind of bait, it loses an entire day of Hope and Change.

So much for the theory that Bill was sinking the campaign, huh?

  11. They’ve really got ’em in a wad over at dkos … sooo many diaries talking about how Florida isn’t worth talking about, and how Hillary is sitch a bitch for saying her hand is still extended to Barack.

  12. This is damn good scotch.

Any estimates on how much longer we’ll have to tolerate the orange shrieking? They got sort of quit for a few hours after NH. – that was nice.

  13. We’ll have to toleratethe orange shrieking for the rest of eternity.
“cause that place ain’t going back to it’s old self even after the the primes are over. I am trying to get away from going back myself. I swear, there are a lot of disturbed individuals there now, at a ratio that you don’t run into in real life. Of course we are there, but we…………………………
