Link: Children are being adultified because our economy is depending on them to make purchasing decisions. So they’re essentially the victims of a marketing and capitalist machine gone awry. You know, we need to expand, expand, expand. There is no such thing as enough in our current economic model and kids are bearing the brunt [...]

Snowy Weekend Kickoff

IMG_1860Hard to tell how much snow we’re going to get.  The weatherpeople made it sound like the blizzard of the millenium but it’s been snowing on and off here all day and all we have is a light frosting that’s just beginning to stick.

Just in case, I bought some duraflame logs.  There’s plenty of boxed milk.  And as long as the cable holds up, enough Netflix, Amazon Prime and iTunes to keep us entertained.  Just to round it all out, we have a jar of Russian Tea mix that should warm us up in case we have to go out and shovel for awhile.

So let’s kick this off with a song.  Here’s one by Frightened Rabbit that I just added to my library.

Your turn…

  1. It took about half of forever for this comment thread to come up, while non-WordPress sites come up just fine for me.

I find WordPress guilty of suckage.

Ahem. As a hobbit of the Arkanshire, I missed out on a lot of great New Wave songs and bands when they were new, because the local stations didn’t play them. For example, I didn’t discover this song until vol. 1 of EMI’s Living In Oblivion collection came out. (BTW, I highly recommend all 5 volumes on 5 discs).

The lead singer looked like Voldemort before Voldemort existed.

Hmmm, I wonder if Ms. Rowling was a fan of this band?

  3. By now we know just how much snow you have got/are getting. If a sudden flash-thaw heatwave arrives, that snow will all melt at once and flood up fast. Hopefully people will begin taking whatever flooding precautions/ preventatives they can take/need to take.

Awesome video of the The Beatles 1st Ed Sullivan show.
That was truly music by talented youngsters and the rest is history.
    Sorry rappers and Justin Babyiers.
