    • What Toronto’s Election Means for Progressive Viability
As many have heard, John Tory, the mainstream right wing candidate, won convincingly in Toronto and Olivia Chow came in third place, even doing worse than Doug Ford (brother of the famous crack-smoking Rob Ford.)  Much hand wringing has ensued that progressive just can’t win elections in Toronto. • Betty Crocker. I think we could photoshop a red dress on Sallie Kercheck and no one would know the difference.

  2. I remember Betty Crocker from when I was far too small a child to possibly grasp any of the “semiotic meanings” of Betty Crocker.

Then again, my only real memory of President Kennedy is of “that man who is on TV when I want to watch Yogi Bear! And why does he have a circle on his desk?”

    ………..

Thought RD would find this story of interest. Go teens Go!

  4. The image of Betty Crocker is a composite of more than 75 typical American women in the 21st century. Her image has changed over time, but has always been created that way. No woman has ever modeled for the role. What it says about Sallie Krawcheck is she looks like a typical American woman. Not sure it says much else. Not sure where you’re going with this?

  5. Two things tell us all we need to know. Obama is considering her and the NYT likes her.
