The shooting down of Malaysian Airlines MH17 has led to a vituperative barrage in the Western media (and social media), blaming Russia.  This barrage has been fomented, in large part, by the White House, which has been relentless. Many act as if Russia is horribly in the wrong, isolated, and alone. China’s Xinhua wrote this: [...]

  1. Who is the woman in red?

    • Betty Crocker. I think we could photoshop a red dress on Sallie Kercheck and no one would know the difference.

  2. I remember Betty Crocker from when I was far too small a child to possibly grasp any of the “semiotic meanings” of Betty Crocker.

Then again, my only real memory of President Kennedy is of “that man who is on TV when I want to watch Yogi Bear! And why does he have a circle on his desk?”

    ………..

Thought RD would find this story of interest. Go teens Go!

  4. The image of Betty Crocker is a composite of more than 75 typical American women in the 21st century. Her image has changed over time, but has always been created that way. No woman has ever modeled for the role. What it says about Sallie Krawcheck is she looks like a typical American woman. Not sure it says much else. Not sure where you’re going with this?

  5. Two things tell us all we need to know. Obama is considering her and the NYT likes her.
