Today is Brooke’s birthday. Today she is 16. Whoo-Hoo!
So, what is she doing to celebrate? She’s taking a test. Today is also the opening round of the North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad. Competitors will spend three hours today working on 3-5 tricky puzzles featuring a combination of linguistics, logic and programming skills. Top scorers will be invited to an invitational round in March where members of the national team will be selected for the international competition in Slovenia this year.
We’re headed down to Princeton with two of her friends (and competition) for the first round and having a birthday breakfast at PJ’s.
Wish her luck!

Great for her!
Sad for your taxes. Now you don’t get the Child Credit!
Oh really? When did they stop that? I got it for my older daughter when she was older than 16. Are we talking about the same thing?
Mine turned 17 at the end of the year and my taxes said no child credit after 16….
Are you talking about dependents? Because I was able to claim my older daughter until she got her diploma from the CIA.
Happy Birthday to Brooke!
