I don’t know how to title this post because words fail me

This should read "Don't ask me for my VOTE"

So, I was over at the Guardian site and found a link to this piece by the AP, Liberal Group Threatens to Pull Obama Support.  And I thought, “Great!  Obama’s boneheaded deficit hawk plans are the eucatastrophe we’ve been waiting for, along with Rupert Murdoch’s empire falling like Ozymandius.  *Two* eucatastrophes in one week!  Does it get any better than this?”

And then I started to read the article.

CHICAGO — A liberal group upset over potential cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security delivered pledges Friday to President Barack Obama’s national campaign headquarters threatening to pull its support.

About a dozen people representing the Progressive Change Campaign Committee delivered what they said were 200,000 pledges from people who will refuse to donate or volunteer for Obama’s re-election campaign if he cuts the entitlement programs.

It’s not a question of who they’re going to support for president, they’re going to vote for Barack Obama. It’s a question of where their time and money is going to go,” spokesman T. Neil Sroka said.

{{winding up for a dopeslap}}

What’s the matter with these people??  They’ve gotten a once in a lifetime opportunity to turn this ship around and they give it all away before they’ve begun.

No, No, NO, you ditzes.  If you signal in advance that you are going to vote for him anyway regardless of your committment to withhold campaign contributions and volunteer time, he has no reason to listen to you.  It just means his campaign manager can cross you off the list of “people who must be appeased”.  You have made his re-election campaign a whole lot easier.  He’ll just hit up his banker friends for the balance.  He gets the REAL money from them; he gets his votes from *you*.  Money is not enough to get him elected.  He actually needs to court voters.  But he won’t court you if you are too easy.

You must stand up to him and withdraw your VOTES.  You must find a different candidate.  AND YOU MUST MEAN IT.  Even when they threaten you and make you scared sh^&less with the specter of a Republican in the White House.  That’s the only thing that will work.  Anything short of that guarantees a slide to the right and the sacrifice of everything you hold dear in the New Deal.

Who is this Neil Sroka guy?  If he’s not a campaign operative, could someone please remove any sharp objects from his immediate vicinity before he seriously injures himself?

  1. Excellent post, RD. You could just entitle it “Suckers!” Until they withhold their votes or threaten to give money, etc. to an actual opponent of the President’s, they are only blowing so much hot air.

    djmm

  2. …if one needed the definition of a political slut, that was it. After enough “bad boyfriends” SOME of us get a grip and incorporate self respect into our negotiating process.

Until that “progressive” change gets a better handle on what they want change to, they’re easy pickin’s for Mr Big Stuff.

  3. “It’s not a question of who they’re going to support for president, they’re going to vote for Barack Obama. It’s a question of where their time and money is going to go,” spokesman T. Neil Sroka said.

And they claim “Glue Huffing” kills brain cells!!!!! Damn! Kool-Aid does the same damn thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. What a bunch of boobs, goofballs, jerks and lamebrained idiots.

Every single incompant needs to be replaced ASAP.

I am thoroughly disgusted with the lot of them.

By the way, verrrrry nice post RD!

    • My thoughts exactly … I mean, all you can do is laugh at them at this point. The only thing these morons are threatening to do is make George W’s supporters look smart by comparison.

      • Still not over this … how fucking stupid do you have to be to issue a “threat” that contains an unconditional pledge of 200,000 votes? Just WTF?

        • Wow, I never thot you and i would agree on anything. Obama must have really jumped the shark.

  5. On Obama and the debt ceiling negotiations. Now we know what happens when a 50 year old man hears ‘No’ for the very first time.

  6. But but but if they say they won’t vote for him they might get called rayciiiiist.

  7. You’re assuming that the leadership of the ‘Progressive Change Campaign” (doesn’t that name strike anyone else as sounding kinda bogus?) actually cares about the issue. I think it’s much more likely that they care about furthering their careers within Sensible Third Way Dem circles, and they’ve put out this idiocy as a Judas Horse to effectively neutralize a big wad of opposition to SocSec cuts.

Most Dem advocacy organizations have become corrupt in much the same way, the only Dem constituency so far not to have been completely kneecapped as a result are the GLBTs, who aren’t afraid to tell their “leaders” to go f*** themselves when they try to sell them down the river, and don’t back down no matter how much crap they get from Sensible Dems and party flacks for displaying such “petulance”.

    • I wouldn’t disagree with you that this group has been co-opted. However, I don’t like labels like “the third way” or the DLC. Those labels were thrown around indiscriminately in 2008 and we ended up with Obama. Let’s just watch what they do no matter what their label is.

  8. I signed that damned pledge after I got an email saying it meant we wouldn’t support Obama. Heck, I didn’t support him last time around either. I also didn’t vote for him and I won’t vote for him again either. To me I won’t support you means, I won’t vote for you, gaddammit! What a bunch of dipshits!

  9. Obama accomplished something that no other politician had been able to do. He showed me that a bad Democrat is worse than any Republican. I now vote GOP when a bad Democrat runs for office to make sure the bad Democrat doesn’t get in office.

    • Until bad Democrats understand that they will be wiped out by Republicans who will then be turned out by better Democrats, they will continue with the same old crap. It is like taking a laxative. It is not fun, you do not feel well but you gotta move the $&!# out before it gets better. Just standing around saying the $&!# hurts but the laxative is worse is not going to make you better

    • Really? A bad Democrat is worse than someone who’s batshit crazy like Bachmann or Ryan? How about Perry? Santorum? Walker?

Now, I grant you that we’ve got some bad Democrats in office, but everything I see on the Republican side–defund Planned Parenthood; oppose clean water and energy conservation; wage war on women and children–is at best just as bad or more often far, far worse.

      • Well, since we’re in counter-example, “how about” mode — Obama’s worse than Bush. Case closed.

        • I’d say they’re about equal. But the damage done by Obama wouldn’t have been possible without that done by W. If we’d had eight years of President Gore, Obama would have had to work a lot harder to accomplish the destruction he’s done in two and a half. Assuming he’d even have been nominated under those circumstances, of course, which seems doubtful..

      • Yes a bad Democrt is worse than any Republican. Because so many people do not expect a Democrat to be evil. We see Bachman coming a mile away. Obama is all into stealth or “drone evil”, stabs you in the back or bombs you from a mile up. Then points at Republicans. Republicans OWN their bad selves. You know when they are evil. THey are poudly insane. Democrats are sneaky evil and that is harder to fight.

        • Plenty of us knew what Obama is from the git-go. I’ve known since the Donnie McClurkin incident in 2007. RD started this blog because so many of us knew from the beginning what he is. That’s why we supported Hillary.

If Obama sneaked up on you, it’s because you weren’t looking, not because the signs weren’t there.

      • I agree. Friends don’t let friends vote Republican.

  10. RD writes:

He’ll just hit up his bank[st]er friends for the balance.

True, but here’s the beauty part:

The banksters will turn around and screw us all for the money Obama hit them up for. It’s all about the rents! As usual.

So these clowns lose coming and going. Reminds me of the old Garrison Keiller joke about the protest sign: “Shy rights! Why not pretty soon?” [head, desk]

  11. on that I agree 🙂

  12. …remember, these are self-described smart people. All you have to do is ask them and they will tell you how smart they are and how dumb you are. Apparently, the thought of being used as Useful Idiots on election day hasn’t crossed their minds.

  13. And there was this pathetic protest at a fundraiser recently. Obama’s response should be no surprise to anyone:

“That was a nice song,” Obama said when the protest was over. “Now, where was I?”

Aides later said Obama found the interruption “funny” and that it had energized his morning. He did not address Manning’s treatment.

“He’s just not that into you” is the polite way of describing his attitude.
