Posting may be light, because I'm working on something big. In fact, I plan to do up a video presentation on a huge story that could destroy the Murdoch/Fox empire. No, I'm not talking about the phone hacking scandal. Think bigger. Much bigger.Actually, the real work was done by some very prestigious foreign news firms. What infuriates me is that no […]

Get well soon Hillary!

hillaryclinton

From the Associated Press:

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton fractured her right elbow during a fall Wednesday, her chief of staff said.

Clinton was on her way to the White House when she fell and injured her elbow, chief of staff Cheryl Mills said in a statement released late Wednesday.

Clinton was treated at The George Washington University Hospital, just a few blocks from State Department headquarters, before going home. She will undergo surgery to repair her elbow in the coming week, Mills said.

“Secretary Clinton appreciates the professionalism and kindness she received from the medical team who treated her this evening and looks forward to resuming her full schedule soon,” Mills said.

The Confluence extends our best wishes to Hillary and we hope she has a speedy recovery.

“Government does not create wealth. The major role for the government is to create an environment where people take risks to expand the job rate in the United States,”

I can’t beleive I actually agree with something W said. Of course I think the ideal way to create the right enviroenment is to have a single payer healthcare safety net.

      • Government does not create wealth. The major role for the government is to create an environment where people take risks to expand the job rate in the United States,”

        W

he says that now…. or someone wrote that for him now, but I saw the government create alot of wealth for a certain group starting in 03 with these no bid contrat endless wars ( 3 so far ) we are in. This is like Ike warning us about ” the military industrial complex ” …Great move , but he warnned about it when he was leaving office …I wish these guys found the wisdoms while in office .

      • if bush really thinks that then he must know how badly he sucks and what a failure he is. As much as I think ObamaGod should stop wining about inheriting this mess, he did, from dubya.

ps… I don’t agree with the premise anyway..it is a combination of both, good atmosphere and good regulations and laws. Bush destroyed both. Obama may be on his way to doing the same but with a slightly differnet style of twisting sommersault.

  3. Get better, Mme. Secretary.

  4. Oh no! My thoughts will be with Hillary today.

That’s what happened to me a couple of years ago. The pain was excruciating. I was fortunate enough to get emergency surgery immediately. They wanted to send me home too, but they weren’t able to get my elbow back in the socket, so they had to do the surgery on an emergency basis.

The good thing about having the surgery is that you don’t have to wear a cast. But I was in pain for a pretty long time and it was hard to have to do everything with my left hand. Opening jars was impossible, so I had to get help from friends at times. Then after the elbow heals you have to have physical therapy to straighten out again (it’s bent during the healing process). I still can’t quite fully straighten mine.

    • Thankfully Hillary has excellent medical coverage.

We should all be so lucky

      • Well I was covered, fortunately. And I was lucky to have a very good surgeon. I’m very grateful for that. If I had had to go home and wait for the surgery, I don’t know how I could have survived. I’m sure Hillary will get plenty of help at home. I was on my own with occasional help from friends and family.

    • :( Hillary doesn’t have time for all that–she has so much work to do! She will be frustrated, but knowing her, will find a way to work around it all.

      • you can get a good woman down…but..you can’t keep her down..
go Madam Secretary..we are praying and lighting candles for you..

  5. Glad she has good health care. She deserves it!

    BBC version of the story.

  6. Oh no, Madam President !

When I broke my elbow a couple of years ago and had to have it surgically repaired – worst pain imaginable – until they reattached it.

It took a couple of months to heal and has never been quite the same. I hope hers is a much better experience and result.

She needs a rest – and it couldn’t have come at a better time, imo. Let the impostor take the real front line heat for a while.

The faster his facade crumbles the better, I say.

    • It doesn’t sound like she will be resting for long.

      • She will have to be careful of it. And she will be in pain, believe me. The pain itself is exhausting. That doesn’t mean she can’t be up and around, but she will have to pace herself.

    • Mine still hurts when I overdo it or get overtired. And it has been nearly three years.

      • it.s the arthritis shoots that start to grow from any broken bone.
my back is full of arthritis from broken ribs i had 30 years ago.

  7. This post is linked on Memeorandum.

  8. Isn’t this just ducky?

President Barack Obama’s strict ban on lobbyist contributions will limit the haul from Thursday night’s fundraising dinner for congressional Democrats, but organizers have found a way around it: a morning-after event at the same hotel where lobbyists — and their money — will be welcomed with open arms.

    • Lobbyists can’t contribute, but their employees, spouses and other relatives can give the max.

And if they just leave the money on a table and walk out that’s a “donation” rather than a “contribution.”

  9. BTW: The cost on my elbow surgery?

Day surgery, 5 hours in the hospital, $27,000.00, not including Anesthesiologist, Surgeon’s fees and emergency room charges.

MO and BO should know what a huge part of the health care cost crisis is all about. She earned 200,000 + sitting on a hospital board to learn all about keeping the Health Care industry’s profitable, no?

Pay to Play and Selective treatment is an Obama family specialty. ;)

    • Actually, $200K was the amount of MO’s raise that she received when BO was elected to the Senate.

When she left that job the hospital eliminated the position.

      • myiq2xu:

You’re absolutely right! I had forgotten the eliminated her “job” after she had left part.

Now both of my elbows hurt. I forgot to stand up when I type about them.

      • When she left that job the hospital eliminated the position.

So the Obama’s DO have a record of reducing healthcare costs! /snark

    • $27K without the surgeon’s fees?! Yowza.

  10. Get well soon Hillary!!

  11. I saw that on the news this morning. I hope she gets better soon. Bones can get fragile for women as we get older.

I should like to sen her a get-well email — where is the appropriate site for that? Shoudl I use the Sec of State website?

  12. “Secretary Clinton appreciates the professionalism and kindness she received from the medical team who treated her this evening

This sound SOOO much like Hillary…thanking the people that helped her and recognizing their abilities and feelings.

My thoughts are with you, Hillary! Get Well!

  13. This is very sweet. Thanks myiq. Hope Hillary receives all of her good wishes. We need to take care of her.

  14. Yes! Thanks for the post. It’s ironic where this happened and its her right elbow…dang it. That will make hours of hand shaking alot harder for her .

    Get better soon Hill!

  15. I keep thinking of how much it hurts just bumping an elbow on something, can’t imagine a break.

Get well soon Hill, we need you.

  16. Get well Hillary – the world can’t run without you.

I am sorry her scheduled meeting at the U.N. this am with Angelina Jolie had to be canceled. I would have loved to see that.

    • I just watched Jolie in Changeling last night (amazing movie! — a lot like Iron-Jawed Angels, imo).

It would have been awesome to see them together — they are both heroes to me!

    • Remember…they are related. Would have been fun to see them together.

  17. Get well Hillary! Sending good thoughts to you and lots of smiles. :-)

  18. Get well Hillary.

  19. Hoping for your speedy recovery, Hillary!

  20. I just made a contribution to help pay down Hillary’s campaign debt. That might to cheer her up!

  21. oh my, I hate even bumping my funny bone, I would hate like hell to break it.
    Feel better Hillary.

  22. lol, I just remembered 29 years ago when my step mother told a bunch of the church choir ladies that I gave birth to a 10lb 7 oz boy they all instinctively shielded their v-jay jays.
Hearing about Hillary’s broken funnybone has my whole arm scrunched up in sympathy.

  23. ETA: Send a get well note to Dipnote here.

He said Clinton was working from home Thursday and had made no decision about whether to go ahead with planned overseas travel, including a scheduled trip next week to Italy and Greece.

Clinton canceled her public appointments, including an appearance with actress Angelina Jolie on Thursday morning at a Washington event marking World Refugee Day.

Crowley said Clinton was walking toward her official vehicle in the State Department’s basement garage when she fell about 5 p.m. Wednesday. At the time, she and Richard Holbrooke, the administration’s coordinator of policy on Afghanistan and Pakistan, were headed to a meeting at the White House. [...] Fox News
